A “Resume’s” Value?
This is not a blog about how to write a top-notch resume.  I am probably the last person to ask and there are professionals out there that put together some incredibly ones from what I’ve seen.  These days, I’ve notice kids coming out of college putting their resume or skillsets, in form of video or vlog and sending it over to prospective employers. My oldest daughter, a senior in high school, has her YouTube channel up and going for college scouts.  I myself created a YouTube channel as well, not to share my expertise on writing resumes 😊, but to share the podcast and other videos we plan on producing in the future.  Things have definitely changed over the years; therefore, we have to change and adapt.
I understand the purpose of resumes.  I get it and we must understand, from a piece of paper, what a person’s background, experience, and expertise may be prior to getting to know them further and potentially investing in them.  As a business, a school, a sports team, etc., there is that investment. In life, that is what we do, we invest in one another to help us become who we want to become. Do we truly understand someone though from that piece of paper, or video?  No, right! Those tools get us in the door and then it is up to us to shine and tell our story.  How often or the “right one’s” passed over because of a resume?
As I said, this isn’t about the purpose of a resume. It is more about building our skills and talents go get us closer to who we want to become.  The resume piece was sparked by a thought that I heard from Tom Bilyeu during his podcast recently.
“You don’t learn new skill to build a resume. You do it to get you closer to the person you want to become.”
Pause for effect.  I am confident in saying that there is a lot of stuff that most of us could, maybe even should, put on our resumes’ but we don’t.  My personal opinion, and maybe I am very wrong, but I am not sure people care too much about a blog or podcast I started when going in to interview for a job.  I might be naïve, but I would think the only reason they would have an interest to ensure I am not a crazy person (something that should again be validate by meeting face to face 😊)!  We tend to want to “build our resume” to prove to others, not even ourselves in some cases, that we are worthy.  That could be worth of a job, of a partner, worthy of being a parent, or of status.   What a piece of paper says should be the last of our concerns.  Again, I get it, we need to get our foot in the door. However, if we are on a path of building skillsets and treasures to become the person we are truly meant to be, won’t that position, career, job, thing that we are supposed to do – present itself? Well, that can be a little hocus pocus, unicorn, and rainbow stuff, but there is some truth to it.  Going back to a prior post, we can’t just sit on our butts and “hope” or wish it to happen, we must put in the work.
If that work is helping us develop new skills, talents, and expertise; if that work is pushing us beyond our comfort levels and helping us grow and learn, isn’t it safe to think that we are headed in a good direction? We are going to get punched in the face many times along that journey but if our efforts are closely in line with our passion, aka - who we want to become, are we toeing the right line? I believe we are.
Our value doesn’t come from something that is listed on a piece of paper or published in a video.  Unfortunately however, we must use those tools to get us in the door. To get that introduction or to get us that five minutes of time with the person that is supposed to be the gatekeeper to our future.  I understand that process and the world we live in; I just don’t like that process any more.  Actually, I never did.  Not talking about the resume process here……………………………
Talking about how we can pass judgement on each other without ever sitting down and genuinely getting to understand each other’s story.

Heart Month Special: Conversations with Stroke Survivor Natalie Poli
Let’s end Heart Month with an empowering story from a stroke survivor, former beauty queen, principal of School District U-46, fantabulous mom and wife, and a lightning bolt of energy and positivity — Natalie Poli.
Natalie is living her dream — basking in the spotlight and cheers of the crowd, confidently sharing her grace and talent as a Chicago Bulls dancer. She cared for her health and stayed physically active, yet something unexpected changed her life.
She was only 29 when she suffered from a stroke. Luckily, Natalie got immediate medical help when a police officer recognized the symptoms of stroke when he got into Natalie’s home.
Natalie’s road to recovery from her heart surgery has been challenging. It all happened while she was pursuing a Master’s Degree and caring for her nine-week-old and two-year-old children.
This experience awakened something inside Natalie. She made it her life’s purpose to educate, support, and inspire stroke survivors, their families, healthcare professionals, and organizations. She became the voice that tells you to listen to your body. She became the voice that created urgency for taking actionable steps to save lives.
Being crowned Mrs. Illinois and Mrs. Midwest International also gave Natalie a platform for heart health and stroke advocacy. Natalie further expanded her reach when she started a podcast called Stroke of Insight, where she interviewed individuals, families of survivors, and organizations to share their experiences and knowledge about the common enemy — stroke.
You will undeniably learn and realize a lot from this episode. So tune in to The Ripple Effect Podcast and prepare to get struck by Natalie’s contagious confidence, charm, and resilience.  This video will leave you thinking, “If she can, I can.”

From Desk Jobs to Real Estate Extraordinaire: The Story of Randi Zucker
You may be working for someone else today and be the powerful boss that you are tomorrow. The possibilities are endless, and today’s guest for The Ripple Effect Podcast is a walking example.
I know you’re a busy person filled with dreams and ambitions. While you do today’s tasks, plug in your earphones and listen to The Ripple Effect Podcast!
It’s your host, Steve Harper, with our special guest, real estate extraordinaire Randi Zucker.
____________________________________________
Randi Zucker’s early career experience revolved around internet marketing, e-commerce, and web design/development. Like most, she worked nine-to-five for companies and high-profile individuals. That was until she started thinking of long-term ways to cement her family’s promising future.
Together with her husband Adam, a licensed Florida Realtor, they’ve started flipping real estate properties and expanding their portfolio. “Flipping” in Randi’s Dictionary means buying properties that need improvement, renovating, and selling them. Over the years, they’ve successfully flipped over a hundred homes and eventually owned three hotels — Palm Cove Motel in Clearwater, Isla Palma Singer Island in Palm Beach Shore, and Three Pines Lodge in North Carolina.
Having extensive experience in the real estate game, the power couple Randi and Adam offer coaching services to real estate investors who want to get into the business. They coach through the 10-Minute Mogul approach — investing 10 minutes of your time a day to grow your wealth and real estate empire.
Randi emphasized the significant role of relationship-building in her success — from initially reaching out to agents and investors to connecting with their market and knowing what hotel visitors need. Rippling is essential for an entrepreneur’s survival!
Additionally, Randi explains her challenges as everyone’s go-to problem solver and leader.
Dip your toes into the world of real estate and start planting the seeds of legacy wealth. Let’s discuss all things real estate and relationship building!

The Evolution of The Ripple Effect Podcast: Welcome to Season 10!
“Are you going off a script? You probably should.”
Man, that stung!
I heard this feedback from a friend eight episodes into The Ripple Effect Podcast, and my soul was obliterated. Self-doubt ate me up every time I hit record. I started overthinking every word before it came out of my mouth. As someone who just started threading the podcasting world, my infinitesimal confidence became nonexistent. It wasn’t the most pleasant feeling.
If I let those words live rent-free in my head, I wouldn’t be here talking (still no script, by the way) and pouring my heart out. Before I knew it, eight episodes became TEN SEASONS!
It’s a far cry from those grand success stories, but relistening to the first few releases of The Ripple Effect Podcast made me realize there has been significant improvement. It may feel like you’ve achieved nothing today or tomorrow, but look back to this day a few years later, and you’ll see something to be proud of.
I started upping my game. I ditched Garage Band, my crappy equipment, and began investing in better gear. The amount of behind-the-scenes effort to ensure Ripplers get the most value out of each post is no joke, and of course, it comes with a cost.
If you believe that we spread positive ripples and do good for the world, you can help this channel in simple ways.
The Ripple team seeks more ways to improve. If you listened to any of The Ripple Effect Podcast episodes, email your comments or topic suggestions to [email protected]. Please add “Podcast Feedback” as the subject line. Your feedback will help us release more content tailor-fitted to what you need!
In this channel, we’re all about the power of wisdom-sharing. If you know someone fit to be our next source of motivation and inspiration as a podcast guest, my inboxes are open! Keep those Ripples rolling.
If you’re a company or a business looking for PR partners, The Ripple Effect Podcast is open for sponsorships. If your brand values align with The Ripple Effect, I’ll gladly promote you across all platforms. Let’s talk via email at [email protected].
