OT13 Reaction -- to winning at MAMA awards

a/n: in celebration of our boys winning both AOTY awards at MAMA last night. i am so incredibly proud i feel like i raised them or something. like guys- it is that serious they are my family and im going insane.

SCOUPS: you're the first one he's calling once he's offstage - he's dialling your number and a whole string of nonsense rattles off him the moment you pick up. he can't string together proper words as you congratulate him. tells you how fucking happy the boys are - you should've seen them, love - did you see woozi crying? and DK - he smiled so big - needs you to bring him back to earth and remind him that this is his award too. he deserves it just as much as they do.

JEONGHAN: he's literally been bored out of his mind as you guys sit at home, watching the award show live. the only times he's acc been paying full attention was whenever groups he knew personally were on screen - and even then - you know you're losing him to how tired he is. lets out the tiniest, babiest gasp when seventeen is announced as the winner. is crying but turns away so you can't call him out on it.

JOSHUA: he runs home to you right after their dinner together and collapses into your arms. he's spent from the sheer chaos and adrenaline. mumbles sweet nothings about how this award is also yours. we won, baby. we share everything - this award is because of you - all because of you.

JUN: he's hiding out in his filming trailer so he can watch the award show through your phone on facetime - it's grainy and glitchy as HELL but he does not care. there's a 3 second lag when seventeen's announced as the winner - so he can hear you screaming but he doesn't know why. his mouth drops once the wifi catches up and he's practically glowing the entire day on set.

HOSHI: comes home wasted and a bundle of pure energy. he's on a high from the win- rushes home to yell into your ear how ecstatic he is as he tackles you for a hug. tells you he's literally so down to name your firstborn child AOTY just cause.

WONWOO: he comes home rather calm despite the chaotic evening he just had. runs you through his whole day- from getting his makeup done to winning the award to having celebratory dinner. you sit and listen happily, cause this is the most yapping you've ever seen this man do and you're SO happy. finishes his yap session by telling you that you make it all worth it - you're the real award, not MAMA.

WOOZI: tells you not to watch their acceptance speech even though he knows you already did :( is uber embarrassed at how emotional his speech was. I was gonna go up and accept it like a nonchalant cool mysterious man but NO! I just had to cry. he doesn't talk about the win much to you, preferring to just enjoy a quiet night in after the crazy evening. whispers to you once you fall asleep that this is why he does music and thanks you and the boys for being his biggest fans.

THE8: sends you the badass photo of him with all their trophies, followed with a long paragraph about how grateful he is to have you next to him through it all. he's unbelievably bright and happy for the next couple weeks, resulting in you kind of missing sassy Hao and asking for him back. side eyes you when you ask and quips "you didn't win a daesang- I did." Well...he's back ig.

MINGYU: comes home and the first thing he says to you is: aren't you proud i didn't cry? pouts when you rewind the clip to point out: he did in fact cry, he was just hiding his ginormous body behind his members. vows to you he won't cry the next time they win- and yes, he promises there will be a next time. and many after that.

DK: a bundle of joy upon his arrival home. keeps telling you he doesn't know what he did to deserve all this- completely floored when you start ranting about why he deserves it all. blushes and hides his face cause the compliments have him shy.

SEUNGKWAN: comes home fully ready to unleash his bragging rights. asks you to only address him by AOTY daesang winner for the next hour, until the joke gets old and he just wants to relax with you. gets a little sappy retelling stories about their trainee days as you both walk down memory lane together.

VERNON: hands you a wad of cash the moment he enters your shared apartment. oh well. i lost the bet. he literally bet against his team winning and ofc you took him on it cause obv seventeen is gonna win?? tells you he was confident svt was going to win he just wanted an excuse to give you cash.

DINO: promises to shout you out the next time svt wins a daesang. obv you don't believe him, so he defends himself, promising that he will 100% name drop his girlfriend on global television for shits and giggles. yeah, i'll just grab the mic and say "i dedicate this award to my WIFE" and watch the internet explode. why not?

Woozi and SVT: The God of Music and His Twelve Muses

First off, I know I'm super late to the party, but I've come out of my exam-induced shell to congratulate Seventeen on winning the Grand Daesang! CONGRATS GUYS! It's been a long time coming.

As a Woozi bias, my favourite genre is Seventeen taking every opportunity to appreciate Woozi's work. They'll always be his first and biggest fans. He creates songs for them and they in turn act as heralders, spreading his music throughout the universe loudly and proudly. Woozi is SVT's god of music and SVT are his muses, and I will die on this hill.

So anyway, recent Woozi appreciation moments.

I meant to do this yesterday but I didn’t have time to, but congratulations to Seventeen for winning a Daesang at MAMA yesterday. I’m so immensely proud of them and how hard they have worked these past 9 (almost 9) years. To Seungkwan, I’m sure that Moonbin is extremely proud of you and is cheering you on in heaven, and to Wonwoo, I bet your mom will love to hear all that you’ve accomplished one day and I’m sure she is so proud of you. Also, to Jihoon, the music you have produced throughout these past 9 years have made me feel so many different types of emotions, you’ve surely shown everyone who doubted you, wrong. I am so proud of you, our amazing and talented producer! Their speeches were the ones that made me cry the most. Seventeen have accomplished so much this year, with FML selling over 10 million copies, being the first Kpop album to surpass 6 million copies sold (it surpassed 6 million copies in July and surpassed 10 million in September, just 2 months after breaking the record previously held by BTS). It was so wonderful to see all 13 of them on stage together, even if they weren’t performing. These men have really worked they way up from the top, starting as 13 young boys with a dream, to 13 young men who inspire others to pursue their dreams and are admired by so many people. I saw this post on Twitter that said “1st January 2015, the 13 teenagers hiked up to Cheonggyesan in the cold freezing weather just to wish for a successful debut with more dreams to grow in their heart, Seventeen you’ve come so far, we all are so proud of you, you’ve made it” and it really made me think about how much they’ve grown. To Seventeen, us Carats are so proud of you for all of your hard work paying off. To many more years with Seventeen!!!

ASIA ARTIST AWARDS 2022

On December 13, 2022, the 2022 Asia Artist Awards took place in Japan. SVT's Ming hosted the award ceremony alongside Super Junior's Leeteuk. The group took home 3 awards: Hot Trend Award, Fabulous Award and Singer of the Year (Daesang).

Here are some Ming highlights:

○ Carats were delighted to see Seventeen take home one of the Daesangs, but what made the moment even more special was that Ming was the one who announced them as the winners. Leeteuk mumbled a quiet ''Congratulations, Ming-ssi.'' into the mic while she walked up to her members.

○ When the group won the Hot Trend Award, Ming joined them on the stage. She took the place in between Jeonghan and Coups, the two older men fondly looking at her. The three of them were kind of in their own world, the members asking her how she's feeling and telling her that she's doing a very good job.

○ Fans were sad that Ming couldn't join their performance at the show, but a lucky attendee saw the female idol enjoying her group's performance on the side of the stage and sneaked a video of it.

○ After the ceremony, Jeonghan went live on Weverse and praised his younger member: ''We were jet lagged, so it was hard to wait for so long at the award ceremony. I was so sleepy, but there was no place to lie down. That's why I'm so proud of Mingie, she was standing up the entire time, while we at least got to sit down during the ceremony. She did so well today, she was a total professional! I felt so proud watching her from my seat, she was so good. I got a bit emotional, but that was maybe because I was so sleepy (laughs).''

○ Hoshi also took to WeLive to compliment her: ''We (the members) were all watching her and felt so proud that she was our member. Ming worked the hardest today, but she still had a smile on her face even when the ceremony was over. Aah~ she did so well.''

○ Ming was also praised by non-svt fans. Many were impressed by her skills as an MC, saying that she had improved from the previous year. Japanese fans applauded her knowledge in the language as she switched between Korean and Japanese throughout the show without any problems.

○ During the taking of the group picture with all the artists and actors, Ming was seated next to Han So Hee. The actress took the initiative and tapped the female idol on the shoulder. Ming seemed surprised but quickly bowed her head and So Hee did the same. They both expressed that they are fans of each other and will support any future projects. The interaction ended with the women shaking each other's hands.

○ When the group picture was taken, Ming immediately stood up and approached her members who stood at the side of the stage. Mingyu was the first one to notice her and gave her a hug, upon which he saw that she was freezing as she was wearing a dress without any sleeves. He quickly took off his leather jacket from their performance and put it around her.

BTS won the 'Song of the Year' daesang for "Butter" at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards.

The 2021 AAA took place at the KBS Arena Hall on Dec. 2. Organized by Star News and Star Continent, the annual ceremony first began in 2016 and honors both actors and singers across Asia.

With their 'Song of the Year' award this year, BTS now holds the record for the Most Daesangs in the music category, with 3.

And with 12 trophies to date, BTS also holds the record for the most awards overall for any artist in the history of the AAA (Twice, EXO and SEVENTEEN tie in second place with 9 awards each).

SVT’s Daesang

First off CONGRATULATIONS TO SEVENTEEN FOR THEIR FIRST DAESANG!!! An Ode was a beautiful album and I’m glad they achieved this award on this album!! They’re very talented and hardworking and they have a right to deserve this award.

But rant time, I have seen some toxic posts about SVT on Twitter about how they don’t deserve a Daesang because they don’t have the best selling album this year and that BTS would have surely won it if they went to the awards. For example,

I’m a multi stan and BTS was my first group and I still love them dearly and I loved Persona! It’s probably one of my favorite albums this year as well! But can we just let SVT have this one please? I’m sure BTS are fine that they didn’t go. I believe they are friends, or at least they respect each other, so I’m sure there’s no bad blood between them. I really hate it that some of these toxic fans are going around saying SVT shouldn’t have won because BTS truly deserve it. How stuck up and frail do you have to be to let one award go? BTS have won many awards in the past 3-4 years and one award is not going to damage their image. So, please just say congrats to SVT and move on, grow up. I know Kpop means a lot to people but when you go bashing other groups/fandoms that’s just disrespectful of you. These groups have never harmed you in any personal way and you’re making your idols look bad. Your idols are probably fine that they didn’t win but you’re over here making such a big deal. I would have more to say but I’m pretty tired of this so goodnight to those who respect idols only.

Weekly Recap #5 (November 27 - December 3)

With the award season having already begun, the girls experienced yet another jam-packed week. From being in Japan for the Mnet Asian Music Awards to going right back to Korea for the MelOn Music Awards, there are new announcements, new peaks, and new leaks!

Here’s what happened this week:

November 27, 2017 – In the midst of the girls’ LieV, JYP Entertainment released the first teaser for the girls’ repackage album “Merry & Happy” with the title track “Heart Shaker.” This will be the girls’ 6th release for this year alone, following “Knock Knock,” “Signal,” their Japan Debut Album #TWICE, “One More Time,” and “Likey!”

“Likey” also surpassed the 90,000,000 view mark on YouTube, and making it the fastest Kpop Girl Group M/V to do so! The music video for Likey also became the 56th most-viewed K-Pop music video and the youngest on the top 100 list!

Among all the new achievements and announcements during the day, the pre-orders for the 2018 Season’s Greetings, TWICELAND Concert DVD and Blu-ray, and Jihyo’s special photobook began.

November 28, 2017 – The girls headed to Japan for the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2017! MAMA in JAPAN was the second of the 3-part award show and featured TWICE, as well as Seventeen, Wanna One, Monsta X, BoA, and many more! Popular Japanese girl group AKB48 was also present. Mnet also announced that TWICE will participate on the special stage for BoA alongside Seventeen, Wanna One, and BoA herself.

Through NAVER Star Cast, JYP Entertainment released new behind-the-scenes pictures of the girls during their photoshoot for their season’s greetings!

November 29, 2017 – While waiting for MAMA in JAPAN, it was first announced that the girls will participate in SBS Love Family Concert on December 14th. JYP Entertainment also released TWICE TV6’s 7th episode! Later on, it was revealed that TWICE has now sold over 2,000,000 copies in just 25 months. This number will grow before the end of the year, with the pre-order date for “Merry & Happy” getting announced alongside the album package information just a few moments later.

At MAMA 2017, the girls covered BoA’s “My Name,” where they showcased their versatility in dance. They showed a more mature and feminine image that contrasts towards their recent image as TWICE. They also performed their own songs, which featured remixes of “TT,” “Signal,” and “Likey.” Along with a VCR that matched the girls’ personalities, their entire stage was approximately 10 minutes long.

By the end of the show, the girls received both the Best Dance (Female) Performance Award as well as Song of The Year Daesang Award for "Signal.” This makes them the first artist to win 2 consecutive years! The girls and J.Y. Park congratulated each other and shared these messages on their respective Instagram accounts!

November 30, 2017 – With the hype for MAMA in JAPAN having simmered down, SUDDEN ATTACK updated their Facebook page and released new set of photos, as well as a video featuring the girls dubbing for their characters in the game!

“Likey” also took the number 1 spot on the GAON Social Chart for the 4th consecutive week!

December 1, 2017 – As the clock struck 12 midnight, JYP Entertainment released the tracklist for “Merry & Happy” where it consists of two new songs and the original 13 from twicetagram. J.Y. Park wrote the lyrics for the song “Merry & Happy,” which was tagged as HOT; meanwhile, “Heart Shaker” was composed by David Amber and Sean Alexander! 

TWICE’s official website was updated to fit the theme for “Merry & Happy!” Pre-order for the album also officially began. Despite being a month old, “Likey” made a sudden rise on Instiz iChart and has once again entered the top 5! The music video for “TT” has also surpassed the 290,000,000 mark on YouTube and is expected to become the first Kpop Girl Group MV to reach 300,000,000 views!

The girls are also set to appear on Music Station Super LIVE, one of Japan’s year ender music shows, alongside BTS on December 22nd! And even though the girls were not present at the show, they were the only girl group nominated for the Album of the Year award and Artist of the Year award in MAMA in Hong Kong.

December 2, 2017 – The 8th episode of TWICE TV6 was released and despite no announcement, this season of the reality show could be coming to an end soon in anticipation of their comeback. With the MelOn Music Awards approaching, “Likey” once again entered the top 5 on the Instiz iChart!

On the red carpet, ONCEs were taken aback as the girls showed their sophisticated look! As the MelOn Music Awards began, after the first performers, TWICE was awarded as one of this year’s the Melon Top 10! Later on in the show, the girls were also awarded for the Best Dance (Female) Performance for “Knock Knock!” The girls then transformed into dolls for their performance at the MMA 2017, and Tzuyu debuted a new hairstyle – with bangs! The girls also posted a video on their Instagram captioned with a touching message for ONCEs.

December 3, 2017 – As the girls are preparing for “Heart Shaker,” it was announced that they will be appearing on MBC Tei’s Dreaming Radio on December 6th as guests.

The music video for “Likey” reached 100,000,000 views on YouTube, making TWICE the fastest girl group to reach this milestone! This is also their 6th music video to go over 100M!

As the girls wrap up their new awards, they are now preparing for yet another comeback! With award season having simmered down, a new era is fast approaching and the girls need our support more than ever! Don’t forget to stream and support! And with the Christmas season quickly approaching, don’t forget to treat yourselves!

What a day it’s been so far. As a PLEDIS stan, I am overjoyed at today’s events. 

Firstly, our Sebongies receiving the their first win for CLAP👏👏👏👏👏 I am proud of them and thankful for fellow CARATS who took time out of their days to vote and stream. Next are the AAAs. NU’EST W winning Best entertainer, and it’s their first award show (correct me if I’m wrong). I am very happy for them. I’ve only been stanning them for a bit longer than a year now but with how this year turned out to be… let’s only walk on the flower road from now on. Next our lovely confident ladies PRISTIN! They won the rookie award and I hope it’s the first of many. I’ve also been following them for a bit longer than a year, when they were still Pledis Girlz and holding their weekly concerts. One of their many wishes is to receive a rookie award, as they have said it many times, and I’m happy it’s granted. Our maknae Kyla couldn’t be there and I’m pretty sure Nayoung mentioned her in the speech (I don’t speak Korean) but I hope she is just as happy. Next the one and only SEVENTEEN. THEY WON THE FREAKIN’ BEST ARTIST AWARD!!!!!👏👏👏👏 is it, if not similar to, a daesang? I am such a happy CARAT right now, they have worked so hard this year, last year, and the year before. They’re always trying their best to improve and strive to show their best. And they’re only into their 3rd year, a 2yr old group.

Congratulations to all the PLEDIS artists today and I hope that you all only walk the flower road for now and forever.
