Last night @jedi-giraffe and I had so much fun at the girl in red show! It was one of the best shows I’ve been to in a while!
She was so silly! You could tell she was having fun at her last show of the tour, crowd surfing at the end and everything. Her stage crew had fun too, dancing to Hot To Go after finishing set up!
The setlist was great too! My favorites were “Body and Mind” and “Midnight Love” but it was fun singing along to the slow ones and the songs from new album. The show was ugly sweater themed so she even played part of her Christmas song!
She also kept mispronouncing the name of the venue city, but she eventually got it right by the end. Clairo did that too at the same venue!
The opener Judah and the Lion was hilarious too, with their song about sports balls that we sang along to. The whole show had the best vibes!

Noahfinnce Live
Tumblr media
In this post, I would like to discuss my experience seeing Noahfinnce live. It took place on 12 April 2024 at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. Madre went with me.
We started our journey at the Waukegan Metra Station. Before we left and throughout the journey, we checked the radar. It insisted that it wouldn’t rain even though the clouds indicated that it would. When we arrived at Chicago, it was raining. And I’m not talking about a little rain. At times, the rain came down like a waterfall off a precipitous cliff. I may be exaggerating but not by much.
It took us longer to walk to the venue than we had initially planned because of the rain. For context, my madre uses a motorized mobility scooter. Now, she does have a scooter poncho to protect the electronics from getting wet, but it was no match against the torrential downpour. Several times, we had to wait under an overhang until the rain calmed down a bit.
When we arrived at the venue, the rain picked up again. After talking to a security guard, he said that we could wait by the side of the main doors under an overhang, so her scooter wouldn’t get wet and short out.
While we waited to get into the venue, I spotted Noah’s dad wandering around aimlessly by the bandwagon and trailer. I recognized him because he was in one of Noah’s music videos. Anyway, he pounded on the door to the bandwagon and then the trailer. When nobody let him in, he meandered towards the entrance.
When he stood by one of the main entrance doors, my madre decided to strike up a conversation with him by mentioning the weather. A seemingly innocuous and normal conversation starter, you’d think, but not for her. Weather is her special interest. She will talk about it for days nonstop if you let her.
He fell for the trap and mentioned what the weather was like when he left London. After he finished speaking, she started to tell him about the type of rain Chicago was having at that moment. Fortunately for him, someone finally let him into the venue. Unfortunately for me, I learned more about rain clouds than I ever wanted to know.
After a short wait, VIP started. A security guard checked our IDs and gave us VIP passes on lanyards.
First was the Q&A. We sat on the floor while Noah sat on a stool. He told a story about a tire coming off of the bandwagon, and how nobody noticed it until much later. He then related a story about how one of his bandmates tried to climb the bunk well. At least, I think that's what he said. He even got on the floor to demonstrate. Getting onto his back, he raked the air with his arms and legs. Not sure what he was trying to demonstrate, but it was entertaining none the less. During the whole demonstration, I just kept thinking that he looked like a tortoise that has gotten stuck on its back and is frantically trying to right itself. I didn't laugh at the time, but looking back, it was quite hilarious! I should have taken a picture.
After the Q&A was the meet and greet. As I waited in line to meet him, I scripted what I wanted to say. I wanted to tell him how much his music meant to me. How it had helped me through a rough patch in my life. How I related to Growing Up on the Internet more than any other album I had ever heard. How much his music and YouTube videos would've helped me as a lonely, confused teenager in the early 2000s. How glad I felt that teenagers nowadays have artists, such as Noahfinnce, to serve as role models.
I ended up saying none of these things to him. Instead, the conversation veered in an entirely different direction. He told me that he liked my Jurassic Park hoodie, and I told him that liked the wolf on his graphic tee. He mentioned the “Velociraptor in the kitchen” scene, and I mentioned the "Dilophosaurus spitting venom" scene. He signed my VIP pass, and after that, we took a picture together.
After the meet and greet, I got a tote bag. Inside was a signed poster and a keychain.
At the merch table, I bought a tour shirt. The front depicted a rat riding a scooter being chased by a raccoon. On the back, the tour dates and cities were displayed.
Now, on to the actual concert. Teenage Joans and TX2 supported. I like the music of both but seeing TX2 live was quite an experience. A bit jarring and overstimulating but good. The amount of energy that band expended during the course of their set could have powered a small city for a month!
During Teenage Joans’ set, Matt and Charlie were behind me. At one point, Charlie made brief eye contact with me, and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. For context, I don't like making eye contact with anyone, not even with people I know. For the rest of the set, I made sure not to glance in his direction for fear that he would make eye contact with me again.
The actual concert was phenomenal. I apologize to anyone who found themselves standing next to me, in front of me, or behind me. When I’m overjoyed and happy, I like to sway aggressively, and sway aggressively I did. I became totally immersed in the music. Everyone faded away, and the music became my sole reality.
It was the second best concert I ever saw in my life, beating out Green Day and Plain White Ts. After the stressful year I had, I really needed this release. It refreshed and rejuvenated my battered spirit.
After the concert, we headed back to the train station. The walk back was pleasant. No rain, no howling wind. Just an uneventful, late night stroll.
At the train station, we had a snack at the food court before boarding the 11:32 PM train back to Waukegan.
Well, that’s all I have for today. Until next time, take care and stay curious.

i feel like we dont talk enough about how distressing and disturbing memory loss issues are. forgetting what you were talking about halfway through a sentence, putting something down and instantly forgetting where you put it. having to reread one paragraph over and over again because by the time youve moved onto the next sentence you dont remember what the one before it said. always doubting if your memories of things are real, not being able to remember important life events.
its so incredibly scary, it feels like your mind is constantly playing tricks on you and you start to doubt whats real and what isnt.
“i forgot” is treated like a lazy excuse when it’s genuinely such a big issue for so many people.

Jimmy Concert Feels
Listening to Futures and getting hyped for the 20th Anniversary livestream!
I could have tried to get tickets to the show at Van Buren tonight... but I have had bad experiences at that venue for various reasons and I knew getting tickets would have been a total mess. I've seen them countless times and thought I would just stay home for this one, glad they are going to livestream it!
Lol at people recommending a multi night show or a home-state tour, we all know they are very logical about these things (like telling us exactly when they play! surprised at no openers tonight though, I was curious to see what local band they would choose). They had an amazing home state tour years ago!
Also remembering one of my earlier favorite Jimmy shows at Marquee with skeleton Jim... they love playing hometown shows in October. Many of these were after releasing a new album, for a while there was a new album every three years and I looked forward to it every time!
I was looking back at my pictures from the Futures 10th Anniversary show in Asheville and I'm surprised I didn't make a detailed post on here about how amazing the show was! I met and took pictures with them after the show and I remember clearly that Jim was really nice and he was surprised that I was from near their hometown.
Wow I'm now realizing that I have at least 4 top Jimmy shows for various reasons:
Home State Tour (I remember having so many "23" feels)
Halloween Marquee Show (with skeleton Jim!)
Orange Peel Asheville (amazing venue too!)
Surviving Album Release at Crescent (perfect bleacher seats and the smolest venue!!)
They really truly are my favorite band, even if I go through phases of not listening to them for one reason or another. (There are only so many songs that fit in my themed playlists!)
Also remembering that Futures was one of my first CDs and that I used to listen to it non-stop on long drives and analyzing all the lyrics... My favorite songs will always be "23," "Kill," and "World You Love," but the singles never disappoint either.
Anyways, below is a picture of my haul from the Asheville show 10 years ago. How did I forget that I got to meet them AND got a pick?!
