Jimmy Concert Feels

Listening to Futures and getting hyped for the 20th Anniversary livestream!

I could have tried to get tickets to the show at Van Buren tonight... but I have had bad experiences at that venue for various reasons and I knew getting tickets would have been a total mess. I've seen them countless times and thought I would just stay home for this one, glad they are going to livestream it!

Lol at people recommending a multi night show or a home-state tour, we all know they are very logical about these things (like telling us exactly when they play! surprised at no openers tonight though, I was curious to see what local band they would choose). They had an amazing home state tour years ago!

Also remembering one of my earlier favorite Jimmy shows at Marquee with skeleton Jim... they love playing hometown shows in October. Many of these were after releasing a new album, for a while there was a new album every three years and I looked forward to it every time!

I was looking back at my pictures from the Futures 10th Anniversary show in Asheville and I'm surprised I didn't make a detailed post on here about how amazing the show was! I met and took pictures with them after the show and I remember clearly that Jim was really nice and he was surprised that I was from near their hometown.

Wow I'm now realizing that I have at least 4 top Jimmy shows for various reasons:

Home State Tour (I remember having so many "23" feels)

Halloween Marquee Show (with skeleton Jim!)

Orange Peel Asheville (amazing venue too!)

Surviving Album Release at Crescent (perfect bleacher seats and the smolest venue!!)

They really truly are my favorite band, even if I go through phases of not listening to them for one reason or another. (There are only so many songs that fit in my themed playlists!)

Also remembering that Futures was one of my first CDs and that I used to listen to it non-stop on long drives and analyzing all the lyrics... My favorite songs will always be "23," "Kill," and "World You Love," but the singles never disappoint either.

The Unbearable Lightness of Not Being Able to Record @ ATEEZ Concert

So several months later, ATEEZ, our favorite pirate kings and the masters of crafted performance are going to come back to Europe and we literally have a date with 8 lovely men on a Valentines Day. ✨when life does not give you 1 and you end up with 8💅✨

To manifest their comeback to Europe with their new tour, I would like to reminisce a bittersweet (but mostly sweet) memory of mine on May 2022. The sudden incident I had in ATEEZ's Berlin concert about my phone's screen getting all black out, out of function, and not being able to record anything, -even I was kindly asking people to get a pic of me in front of the arena and send those pics via email *the pain*- that incident accidentally made that concert one of the most memorable nights of my life. While I was watching and witnessing their whole performance with my own mortal eyes, in complete shock and admiration, without stressing about if I record it properly, dancing with them and with the audience carefree...everything felt so etheral and right.

Watching their Kingdom stages were already signs of how much power they hold in their performances as artists but after seeing them with my own literal eyes, I said "they are more like artisans of performance". Let me clarify that. Throughout their performances, they -innately or mindfully- embody a labour and you do not have to wait for their sweat being spitted on your face to understand that. Their level of liveness and that alive energy they radiate from the beginning until the end made me realize how a mortal life we are living in this world and I don't think I would feel this enlightened when I would try to record to make those moments "immortal" in a sense (whatever that means). In their every present second, they pass through death and we all died and reborn throughout the concert, which made me feel so alive and light at the end. I was heavy in emotions but that heaviness made me feel so light and carefree as a fan, as a human. Still on this day, I find how this level of fascination could happen just by putting a device away (even though w/o my own free will) but I'm more than glad it happened. It held such a power on me that made my eyes tear at the ending part of Utopia, made my jaw drop during Take Me Home, and finally, made me take a last second decision to climb up the stairs to join their dance break during "The Real" and jump to every corner like 5 year old kid with the biggest smile on my face.

So as an advice to all concertgoers, demonizing the act of recording is not my intention but minimizing it is definitely a thing I highly recommend. Let yourself be immersed in that amazing effort being put by your favorite artists. I'm really excited to see ATEEZ again and feel alive with them! the long awaited am ziggo dome night 2 memories post!!! as always, under the cut

third concert. dead tired at this point from the late nights and the driving back and forth to the venues but!!! god it was all okay again once i was there. i was there arounddd.... 3pm i'd say to queue. met up with some people i met the previous day so that was super fun. i managed to snatch up a poster of the evening!!! and afterwards, we ended up somewhat behind the early entry people, the 10th row from the stage i think. during the opening act i couldn't see much as i was right behind two tall guys, and i was a little scared this night was going to be a "look at the screens all night" type of show but then everything started moving a little and right before AM came on everything just became... perfect 🥺

most of the night went like it did my previous concerts (setlist and stage antics wise), but i liked that i could see all of the boys very clearly!

highlights were alex telling us after finishing arabella that when he's "singing the part about a constellation falling into place, i always pretend i'm giving a TED talk. i never told anyone that." and the already much discussed people talking loudly through the intro of suck it and see and alex shushing them, then singing a little more and then saying "what could you possibly be talking about?" which is so valid of him, god. show the band and suck it and see some respect

the evening being a bit of a copy of the other nights also gave me a chance to pay extra attention to some things i noticed during the other nights, one of which is alex playing conductor for the rest of the guys on stage during the mirrorball intro, which is so!!!! fun!!! and him playing acoustic guitar!!!

the mirrorball came down afterwards, and i was anticipating 505 just like the other nights, but then, after days of WISHING HOPING PRAYING AND MANIFESTING, alex said "amsterdam...... it's the star treatment" and i swear you could hear my scream of surprise throughout the entire fucking ziggo dome. (i somehow completely missed that they skipped cornerstone????) star treatment was BEAUTIFUL, one of the highlights of the set. we got the "i just wanted a jet ski for the moat" lyric change!!! i added a video HERE in case anyone wants to see it (because tumblr only allows me to upload one video to this post 🙄)

body paint was also perfect!!!! and after the encore it was i wanna be yours - i bet you look good on the dancefloor - r u mine? as usual, and it sounded amazing. also so many people were going crazy for i wanna be yours, as they have every night, and i was informed by some of the teenagers around me that it's because it's having a huge moment on tiktok right now. it looked beautiful again:

i feel so fortunate that i was able to see the boys three times in one week, and so full of love for them, their songs and their musicianship. it also made me so happy to be so close to the stage in these huge venues and be surrounded by people who know all these songs by heart, just like me. this was the last one........................for now......

Still reeling from The Postal Service and Death Cab show earlier this week!

I couldn’t believe I was able to see them 10 years ago and now I can’t believe I saw them again 10 years later! I wore my vintage Postal Service shirt from my first show 😊

Sometimes I forget how "Such Great Heights" is the most perfect love song of all time... but my current favorite is "Brand New Colony" with those beautiful analogies. They had an awesome guitar fade out during the show too! And the last lyric ("Everything will change") always hits hard...

Jenny was so cool with her flowy dress! And I loved how the encore was the acoustic version of "Such Great Heights"- I didn’t understand at first when he said "this is an Iron and Wine song" lol it sounded so good with Jenny!

So cool that it was back to back albums with Death Cab also! "We Looked Like Giants" will always be my favorite from Transatlanticism (it always reminds me of listening to my CD player on long car trips, especially in the winter) and it was so good hearing it live! The others from that album are typical classics.

The Beths were amazing too! Started listening to them after seeing them listed as the opener and all their albums are so good. I loved their inflatable fish! Best vibes!

(I also bought the livestream so I could watch it a few more times… It wouldn't let me screenshot, but I tried to get some pics/clips of my favorite parts. The lights were kinda crazy during the show, but they showed up better on the livestream!)

i feel like we dont talk enough about how distressing and disturbing memory loss issues are. forgetting what you were talking about halfway through a sentence, putting something down and instantly forgetting where you put it. having to reread one paragraph over and over again because by the time youve moved onto the next sentence you dont remember what the one before it said. always doubting if your memories of things are real, not being able to remember important life events.

its so incredibly scary, it feels like your mind is constantly playing tricks on you and you start to doubt whats real and what isnt.

“i forgot” is treated like a lazy excuse when it’s genuinely such a big issue for so many people.
