Your art is amazing and I admire how consistent your art is for characters! Could you share your process or a speed paint of your work?

Okay so first of all I’m not a professional, so keep this in mind while you read.

My process for a colored piece is very simple: sketch - refined sketch (lineart) - flat colors - shadows and lighting rough placement- rendering - final adjustments (+ a bit of chromatic aberration and noise)

Tricks I use: flip horizontally the canvas a lot of times while sketching - zoom out to see the whole canvas in a miniature (easy to spot mistakes) - put on a gray filter on the colored piece to see if the contrast is good - go away from the drawing for some time, come back to find the mistakes you couldn't see before - never do a piece in one day from start to finish - avoid tangents…

As long as I’m happy with the results lately, I see there’s much I could improve.

actually on that note. i've talked about this before, but it was a while ago and we've had many newcomers (welcome!) so if you weren't aware: i use 3D models to make this comic! i'm a game design student, so i have a decent handle on blender, and I model and rig everything I use myself. The robots you see are fully rigged characters, who I pose, screenshot, and then trace over by hand to get that kind of rough quality the comic's lineart has.

As proof, here's some recent reference screenshots. :)

(While I can draw the bots freehand (and often do, especially when I'm just sketching for fun) using the models saves me a lot of time and headache, lets me try out poses and camera angles before committing, and helps me keep their designs consistent. Same goes for buildings. I can draw perspective, but this comic would be updating 3 times a month instead of 3 times a week if I had to do that by hand. 🦐)

Iris Maryam-Lalonde is the main character tbh shes ✨️ everything✨️ 🙏🙏

Her dress is made by Kanaya and her sweater was knitted by Rose. Those definitely arent her comfort clothes because her moms made them or anything, that would be silly.

(Also the symbols on her hairband + sleeves are an alpha while the main symbol is an omega :3 )

But yes shes very dear to me and i cant wait to share more of her (ill post my art of iris seperately bc they are bigger pieces alsldld)
