Which Compact Power Bank is Best for Smartphones and Tablets?
About
In today’s fast-paced world, staying connected is essential, and that means having a reliable power source for your devices on the go. A compact power bank charger is a game-changer, offering portable and convenient energy to keep your devices running without weighing you down.
What Is a Compact Power Bank Charger?
A compact power bank charger is a portable battery pack that fits easily in a pocket, bag, or even a wallet, providing on-demand power to smartphones, tablets, cameras, or other USB-powered devices. Its compact design makes it ideal for people who need quick, on-the-go charging without the bulk of larger power banks. Compact power banks come in various capacities and sizes, typically ranging from 5,000mAh to 10,000mAh, making them perfect for short trips, commutes, or everyday use.
Key Benefits of Using a Compact Power Bank
Portability: The main advantage of a compact power bank charger is its portability. Small enough to carry anywhere, these devices eliminate the need to search for an outlet, giving you reliable power wherever you are.
Convenient Charging: Compact power banks are compatible with most devices, including Android, iOS, and other USB-powered gadgets. Whether you're at an airport, in a meeting, or on a hike, you can keep your devices charged with ease.
Multiple Charges: Despite their small size, many compact power banks offer multiple charges for smartphones and other small devices. This feature is particularly useful when you have a busy schedule or are traveling without access to charging stations.
Quick Recharge: Many compact power bank chargers offer fast charging capabilities, ensuring your devices are powered up quickly. Some even support fast charging technology, like USB-C PD (Power Delivery), allowing your devices to reach 50% or more in a matter of minutes.
What to Look for in a Compact Power Bank Charger
When choosing a compact power bank, consider these key features:
Battery Capacity: Battery capacity, measured in milliampere-hours (mAh), indicates how much charge the power bank can hold. A 5,000mAh compact power bank charger can charge most smartphones 1-1.5 times, while a 10,000mAh model can provide around 2-3 full charges. If you’re a heavy device user, a higher-capacity power bank will better suit your needs.
Size and Weight: One of the main benefits of compact power banks is their portability. Look for one that strikes the right balance between size, weight, and battery capacity, making it easy to carry without sacrificing power.
Charging Speed: Fast charging capabilities are ideal for those needing quick power-ups. Look for compact power banks that support fast charging protocols like USB-C PD or Quick Charge (QC) to keep your devices powered up in minimal time.
Durability and Build Quality: A good compact power bank should be durable enough to withstand daily wear and tear. Look for models with sturdy cases, often made of metal or reinforced plastic, to ensure longevity.
Number of Ports: Some compact power bank chargers come with multiple ports, allowing you to charge multiple devices at once. This can be a great feature for those who carry several devices and want to power them all simultaneously.
Top Uses for a Compact Power Bank
Compact power banks are versatile, making them useful in many scenarios:
Travel: Avoid searching for outlets in airports or on trains with a compact power bank that keeps your devices running.
Outdoor Adventures: Whether hiking or camping, a compact power bank is essential for keeping navigation devices and phones charged.
Emergency Backup: Having a compact power bank can be a lifesaver during unexpected power outages.
Conclusion
A compact power bank charger is an essential tool for anyone needing reliable power in a portable package. By considering factors like capacity, charging speed, durability, and portability, you can find the perfect compact power bank to keep your devices charged and ready wherever you go.

Is It Safe To Charge Your iPhone With a Power Bank
What you should know before plugging in a Power Bank into your new iPhone
In today’s digital world, the quest for continuous connectivity has made power banks indispensable for iPhone users. Concerns often arise about the safety of charging iPhones with power banks. It’s important to know that iPhones are built with an internal charging circuit that regulates the power intake, ensuring the device only draws the power it requires. This mechanism safeguards the iPhone against potential damage during charging, irrespective of the power source. Our discussion unfolds around the safety, efficiency, and compatibility considerations of using power banks with iPhones, providing peace of mind to users.
Understanding iPhone’s Built-in Safety Measures
The sophisticated charging circuitry of iPhones plays a pivotal role in their ability to manage power intake efficiently. This ensures that whether an iPhone is charged using a wall adapter or a power bank, the device’s internal mechanisms regulate the charging process. This is critical for preventing issues such as overcharging and overheating, which could otherwise compromise the longevity and health of the battery.
Power Banks vs. Wall Adapters: Demystifying the Charging Process
The debate between power banks and wall adapters centers on convenience versus efficiency. Power banks provide the flexibility of mobile charging, a convenience that wall adapters can’t match. However, both charging methods utilize similar technologies to deliver power to your device. The crux of the matter lies in selecting a power bank that aligns with the iPhone’s charging specifications, thereby ensuring an optimal charging experience.
Choosing the Right Power Bank for Your iPhone
The marketplace is awash with power banks, but not all are suited for your iPhone. Selecting the best power bank for iPhone, including options like a MagSafe power bank for iPhone or a PD power bank for iPhone, can significantly enhance your charging experience. Opt for a power bank that supports the iPhone’s native charging protocol for quick and efficient power-ups.
Don’t Be Fooled by Knock-Offs: Prioritize Reputable Brands
The proliferation of counterfeit power banks poses a risk to your iPhone. It’s imperative to opt for reputable brands that adhere to safety standards, ensuring a secure and efficient charge every time. Low priced power banks are most often use refurbished components & batteries which will only last a few months and also tend to malfunction.
Decoding Power Bank Specs: What You Need to Know (mAh, Output)
A power bank’s specifications, such as milliampere-hours (mAh) and output, are crucial to its compatibility with your iPhone. A higher mAh rating signifies a larger capacity, offering multiple charges for your device, while the output determines the charging speed. Matching these specs with your iPhone’s requirements is key to a satisfactory charging experience. For larger battery iPhones like the 15Pro & 15Pro Max we would advise buying a larger capacity battery.
High Capacity on Your Mind? Here’s Why It’s Safe (for iPhones)
The concern that a high-capacity power bank might damage an iPhone is unfounded. Thanks to the iPhone’s intelligent charging management, using a high-capacity power bank is safe, as the phone will only utilize the necessary amount of power.
Preserving Battery Life
Beyond selecting the right charging accessories, maintaining your iPhone’s battery life is crucial. Strategies such as adjusting screen brightness, preferring Wi-Fi connections, engaging Low Power Mode, and monitoring battery usage help in extending the life of your iPhone’s battery. Remember, the longevity of lithium-ion batteries, like those in iPhones, is maximized by avoiding complete discharges and exposure to extreme temperatures.
In conclusion, using a power bank to charge your iPhone is a safe and practical solution for keeping your device powered throughout the day. By making informed choices about power banks, focusing on reputable brands, and understanding the needs of your iPhone, you can ensure a worry-free charging experience. With the right care, your iPhone’s battery will continue to support your connected lifestyle efficiently.

Wahoo! Rainmakers fic is here! Merry Christmas! I spent highschool mildly obsessed with these guys, and now I'm proud to present what is probably the only Rainmakers x Reader fic ever written. I didn't check or anything. Who else would ever.
I tried to give everybody a distinct personality, please let me know if you think the vibes are coming through! It's meant to be set in a vaguely G1 universe. But more modern. Like if G1 took place some nebulous time after cellphones became common.
When I Think About Rain
Ch.1
"So what the frag is snow for?"
Watching a lime green robot kneel down in the snow and leave handprints the size of your entire body filled you with an indescribable emotion. Trying to figure out how to explain natural weather patterns to three of them gave you a feeling you could describe in a word: headache.
Looking from Acid to Nova to Ion, you tried to figure out how to respond. "Precipitation on earth just sort of happens, and life evolved to work around it. We don't really make it. We did try a few times but it just doesn't work."
Ion Storm spoke up from somewhere behind you, as blunt as ever. "That's stupid. You guys don't even control what weather happens on your own planet? Sheesh, talk about lower lifeforms!"
You shot the seeker a particularly unimpressed look, causing him to snort. He liked taunting you, and you weren't sure if it was because he had a crush on you or if he considered you 'one of the boys.' You were pretty sure it was the latter, but after Powerglide and Astoria became an item, you couldn't be completely sure.
Nova was looking up at the clear blue winter sky contemplatively, and it sort of hit you that Cybertronians don't have any childhood memories of winter. No snow days, no sledding, no digging caves in a snow bank. Snow wasn't magic to them in the same way it was to humans.
But Nova Storm didn't know what he didn't know as he turned to face his bluest brother. "I dunno, I think it's kind of cool. Having to live each day under a new set of circumstances, never really knowing what your planet's gonna throw at you. Be fun, at least for a while."
The leader of the group looked up from where he was poking at the snow to stare at you. "Sounds dangerous. Are you sure you don't wanna just move to Cybertron? We wouldn't even tell Shockwave you were there this time." You knew Acid Storm wasn't stupid enough to think it would actually ever work, but he hadn't given up hope yet that maybe you were.
Taking a swig of hot chocolate, you rolled your eyes at him. "Sneaking you lot through the spacebridge once every couple months is already risky. How're you gonna play off using it every week to get me food?" You gave a sort of faux-haughty shrug, playing at knowing better than the multi-million-year-old space warriors. "I don't see why you don't just switch sides so we can hang out more."
Suddenly, Ion Storm threw himself on his back, and even with the muffling of the snow it was such a powerful movement that you had to brace yourself to keep from falling over.
He lolled his head to look at you. "Because Optimus would probably make us actually do our jobs, instead of-" and Ion switched into an awful Megatron impression- "perfecting our acid rain formula."
You couldn't help but cackle at that, and all three seeker's optics softened. You were so small, smaller even than Soundwave's cassettes, but you weren't afraid to live loudly. To stare the Rainmakers, the flying horrors of Cybertron, right in the face and laugh about their boss with them. A life so fragile and fleeting that you refused to live in fear for it.
How were they meant to resist you?
Acid Storm found himself walking over to you. The loud crunch of snow being compacted prevented you from being surprised when he bent down to scoop you up and set you on his shoulder, you simply huff in amusement. So touchy.
Unable to protect your face from the sudden increase in winter winds from being up so high and simultaneously smile amusedly at Acid Storm, you ended up doing neither and gave him a bizarre and unreadable expression that stung your eyes and burned your lungs.
Laughing, he put a servo around you to shelter you from the wind. "Humans are all so weird."
"Yeah, but I'm pretty sure ours is the weirdest of them all," Ion Storm jeered from just out of your line of sight.
You couldn't suppress a snort at that one, and hollered a reply into the wind.
"Your human?" you couldn't help but call him out on that one. "Weird, I will own up to. But who ever said I was yours? I'm a free spirit, man, I belong to nobody but myself!" You hoped they could hear the smile in your voice.
Nova smiled back at you. "Well, we did capture you that one time," he rebutted, "which teeeeechnically makes you 'our human.'"
"Pfffft, no way! I bought my freedom fair and square! You let me go, so you don't own me!"
Ion stood up and reached over Acid's servo to seat you in the palm of his own, looking you dead in the eyes. "If you're not our human, how come we can just pick you up and you don't complain?" He narrowed his optics and sneered triumphantly.
You rolled your eyes and shook your head sympathetically. "Do you really think you're the only people who ever pick me up? Look at me, I'm adorable! People can't resist picking me up!"
You were too focused on Ion to notice Nova coming in from behind. "Aw, but we're your favourites, right?" He lowered his massive head down to your level, and if you didn't know him as the brains of the group, you'd almost think he looked like a puppy begging for praise. "We're the best at human-handling, yeah?"
After your heart climbed back down from your throat where the shock had chased it, you managed to feign being contemplative. "Hmmm... I suppose that's true. And I mean I did choose to spend a day hanging out in a snowy field in the middle of Fuckass Nowhere with you three, which probably has to count for something."
Now looking less like a puppy and more like the proverbial cat who got the cream, Nova grinned triumphantly. "See?" As he stood back up to his full height, satisfied with your answer, you simply had to giggle. In the low sun, his goldenrod colour scheme and general shape brought to mind a star at the top of a Christmas tree. His temperament certainly helped, of course. Giant killer robot or not, when he was happy, he had a sort of glow about him.
Acid Storm snorted.
"The Rainmakers: Scourge of Cybertron's Skies, and top-tier fleshy sparklingsitters." There was no malice in his tone- he really did just feel as comfortable joking with you as he did the rest of his trine. "I'm sure that'll put some real fear into the sparks of our enemies!"
You spun around in Ion's hand to give a witty retort. Ion fired a line at you, and you parried that, too. And so it went for the rest of the day. Eventually, enough hours had passed that your hot chocolate was gone and the stars had come out.
You smiled tiredly- you loved them and their banter, and you liked feeling like you actually belonged, but good God. There's only so many hours of witty banter in a snowy field the human mind can take. "Okay, boys. It's getting pretty damn cold out here, so we better get you home before I freeze to death."
Unable to tell if you were joking or not, they acquiesced. And in Acid's cockpit, on the long flight back to the spacebridge, you found yourself looking forward to the next meeting before they even left.

AMG G63 4x4² „Nuthin but a G thang“.
The AMG G63 4x4² brings driving performance to the segment of unadulterated off-road vehicles in unexpected form.
The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine generates 430KW (585HP) in this model, and delivers a maximum torque of 850Nm. This is available across a wide rev range between 2.500 and 3.500 rpm, and provides a sense of effortless superiority. It absolves a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5 seconds.
The two turbochargers are not positioned on the outside of the cylinder banks, but inside the cylinder „V“. Advantages: a compact engine design, spontaneous response of the turbochargers and low exhaust emissions thanks to optimal airflow to the near-engine catalysts. The eight-cylinder delivers its power with muscular torque in all engine speed ranges, combined with maximum efficiency for low fuel consumption and emission figures.
Two twin scroll turbochargers are used for optimal response.
The housing is divided into two parallel flow channels. Combined with two separate exhaust ducts in the exhaust manifold, this makes it possible to control the exhaust gases on the turbine wheel separately. The exhaust gas from the first and fourth cylinders of the cylinder bank is fed into one duct, that from the second and third cylinders to the other duct.
The aim is to prevent the individual cylinders from having mutually adverse effects on the gas cycle. This reduces the exhaust gas back pressure and improves gas exchange. The results are increased output, more torque at low revs and very fast response times.

Hey there! Do you want the entire wall-e script? Here you go.
EXT. SPACE
FADE IN:
Stars.
The upbeat show tune, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, plays.
“Out there, there’s a world outside of Yonkers...”
More stars.
Distant galaxies, constellations, nebulas...
A single planet.
Drab and brown.
Moving towards it.
Pushing through its polluted atmosphere.
“...Close your eyes and see it glisten...”
EXT. PLANET’S SURFACE - CONTINUOUS
A range of mountains takes form in the haze.
Moving closer.
The mountains are piles of TRASH.
The entire surface is nothing but waste.
“...We’re gonna find adventure in the evening air...”
A silhouetted city in the distance.
What looks like skyscrapers turns into trash.
Thousands of neatly stacked CUBES OF TRASH, stories high.
Rows and rows of stacked cubes, like city avenues.
They go on for miles.
EXT. AVENUE OF TRASH
“...Beneath your parasol the world is all a smile...”
Something moving on the ground far below.
A figure at the foot of a trash heap.
A SMALL SERVICE ROBOT diligently cubing trash.
Rusted, ancient.
Cute.
Every inch of him engineered for trash compacting.
Mini-shovel hands collect junk.
Scoop it into his open chassis.
His front plate closes slowly, compressing waste.
A faded label on his corroded chest plate:
“Waste Allocation Loader - Earth Class” (WALLY)
Wally spits out a cube of trash.
Stacks it with the others.
Something catches his eye.
Tugs on a piece of metal stuck in the stack.
A hubcap.
The sun reflects off it.
Wally checks the sky.
ON TRASH HEAP HORIZON
The sun sets through the smoggy haze.
“...And we won’t come back until we’ve kissed a girl --”
He places the hubcap in his compactor.
Presses a button on his chest.
The song stops playing.
The end of a work day.
Wally attaches a lunch cooler to his back.
Whistles for his pet COCKROACH.
The insect hops on his shoulder.
They motor down from the top of a GIANT TRASH TOWER.
EXT. AVENUES OF TRASH - DUSK
Wally travels alone.
Traverses miles of desolate waste.
Oblivious to roving storms of toxic weather.
Passes haunting structures buried within the trash.
Buildings, highways, entire cities...
Everything branded with the SAME COMPANY LOGO.
“Buy N Large”
“BNL” stores, restaurants, banks...transportation!
The corporation ran every aspect of life.
There’s even a BNL LOGO on Wally’s chest plate.
CLOSE ON NEWSPAPER Wally drives over.
Headline: “TOO MUCH TRASH!! Earth Covered!!”
The deck: “BNL CEO Declares Global Emergency!”
A photo of the BNL CEO giving a weak smile.
Wally’s old treads are threadbare.
Practically falling apart.
Cause a bumpy ride for his cockroach.
He passes the remains of other RUSTED WALL-E UNITS.
Fancies one with NEWER TREADS than his own...
EXT. DESERTED STREET - MOMENTS LATER
Wally now sports the newer treads.
Rolls past a SERIES OF HOLOGRAPHIC BILLBOARDS.
The solar-powered ads still activate when he passes them.
2.
BILLBOARD ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
(Ad #1: BNL logo over trash)
Too much garbage in your face?
(Ad #2: starliner in space)
There’s plenty of space out in space!
(Ad #3: starliners take off
from Earth)
BNL starliners leaving each day.
(Ad #4: WALL-E units wave
goodbye)
We’ll clean up the mess while you’re
away.
EXT. EDGE OF THE CITY
Wally drives down a deserted overpass.
Activates an even LARGER HOLOGRAPHIC BILLBOARD.
CLOSE ON BILLBOARD AD
Shows off a CITY-SIZED LUXURY STARLINER.
Depicts passengers enjoying all its amenities.
BILLBOARD ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
The jewel of the BNL fleet: “The Axiom”.
Spend your five year cruise in style.
Waited on 24 hours a day by our fully
automated crew, while your Captain and
Autopilot chart a course for non-stop
entertainment, fine dining. And with our
all-access hover chairs, even Grandma can
join the fun! There’s no need to walk!
“The Axiom”. Putting the “star” in
Executive Starliner.
The BNL CEO appears at the end.
Waves goodbye as the Axiom takes off.
BUY N LARGE CEO
Because, at BNL, space is the final “fun”-
tier.
The holographic billboard powers off.
Reveals the AXIOM’S DESERTED LAUNCHPAD in the distance.
The mammoth structure sits across the bay.
Now empty and dry. A polluted, dead valley.
ON COLLAPSED BRIDGE RAMP
Near its edge rests a WALL-E UNIT TRANSPORT TRUCK.
A giant child’s Tonka Truck left to weather the elements.
A “Buy N Large” logo on its side.
Wally approaches the rear of the truck.
3.
Pulls on a lever.
The back lowers.
Wally motors up the ramp.
INT. TRUCK - CONTINUOUS
Open racks for storing WALL-Es line both walls.
KNICKKNACKS OF FOUND JUNK littered everywhere.
The tired robot removes his newfound treads.
Ahh... Home.
Wally motors down the center aisle.
Flicks on an ancient BETAMAX PLAYER.
Jury-rigged to an iPod.
Pushes in a cassette labeled, “Hello Dolly!”
The image is very poor quality.
Actors sing and dance to Put On Your Sunday Clothes (POYSC).
The same song Wally worked to.
WALLY
[Hums POYSC]
Wally opens his cooler.
Newfound knickknacks.
Pulls out the hubcap from his chest.
Looks back at the TV.
Mimics the dancers on the screen.
Pretends the hubcap is a hat.
Continues to unpack:
A spork.
A Rubik’s Cube (unsolved).
A Zippo Lighter.
He presses a BUTTON by the rack of shelves.
They rotate until an empty space appears.
His new items are lovingly added to the shelf.
The Zippo joins a pre-existing LIGHTER COLLECTION.
A new song, It Only Takes A Moment, plays on the video.
Wally is drawn to it.
Presses his “Record button.
ON TV SCREEN
Two lovers sing gently to one another.
They kiss...hold hands...
Wally tilts his head as he watches.
Curious.
Holds his own hands.
4.
EXT. TRUCK - NIGHT
Wally motors outside.
Turns over his Igloo cooler to clean it out.
Pauses to take in the night sky.
STARS struggle to be seen through the polluted haze.
Wally presses the “Play” button on his chest.
The newly sampled It Only Takes A Moment (IOTAM) plays.
The wind picks up.
A WARNING LIGHT sounds on Wally’s chest.
He looks out into the night.
A RAGING SANDSTORM approaches off the bay...
Unfazed, Wally heads back in the truck.
IOTAM still gently playing.
...The massive wave of sand roars closer...
Wally raises the door.
Pauses.
WHISTLES for his cockroach to come inside.
The door shuts just as the storm hits.
Obliterates everything in view.
INT. TRUCK - SAME
Wally alone in the center of his shelter.
Unwraps a BNL SPONGECAKE (think Twinkie).
Lays it out for the cockroach to sleep in.
It happily dives in.
Wally collapses himself into a storable cube.
Backs into an empty shelf space.
Rocks it like a cradle...
...and shuts down for the night.
Outside the wind howls like the Hounds of Hell.
INT. WALLY’S TRUCK - NEXT MORNING
Wally’s CHARGE METER flashes “WARNING”.
He wakes. Unboxes.
Groggy and lifeless.
Stumbles outside.
EXT. ROOF OF WALLY’S TRUCK
The morning sun.
Wally fully exposed in its light.
His front panel splayed out like a tanning shield.
A solar collector.
5.
His CHARGE METER chimes full.
Solar panels fold away into hiding.
Wally, now awake, collects his lunch cooler.
Heads off to work.
...and accidentally runs over the cockroach.
Horrified, Wally reverses.
Reveals the FLATTENED INSECT under his tread.
The cockroach simply pops back to life.
No biggie. Ready to go.
Relieved, Wally resumes their commute.
EXT. WALLY’S WORK SITE - THAT MORNING
A SERIES OF “WALLY AT WORK” MOMENTS:
- CU of Wally’s hands digging into garbage.
CU of trash being scooped into his chest compactor.
A cube lands by the cockroach.
- Wally discovers a BRA in the garbage.
Unsure what it’s for.
Tries placing it over his eyes, like glasses.
Tosses it in his cooler.
- Wally finds a set of CAR KEYS.
Presses the remote lock.
Somewhere in the distance a CAR ALARM CHIRPS.
- Plays with a paddle ball.
The ball keeps smacking him in the face.
He doesn’t like it.
- Wally discovers a DIAMOND RING in a JEWEL CASE.
Throws out the ring. Keeps the case.
The jewel case drops into the cooler, then...
...A RUBBER DUCKY...
...A BOBBLE HEAD DOLL...
...An OLD BOOT...
...A TROPHY...
- Wally finds a FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
Activates it.
FOAM blasts in his face.
It’s tossed far, far away from his cooler.
- Wally’s shovel hand strikes something solid.
Faces a REFRIGERATOR much larger than himself.
Now what?
- CU on fridge door.
A WELDING BEAM moves down its center.
It emits from between Wally’s SPLIT BINOCULAR EYES.
6.
The door falls apart in two pieces. Reveals...
...a SMALL PLANT
in its early stage of growth.
Wally is entranced.
Carefully, he extracts the section of earth around it.
CLOSE ON IGLOO COOLER
Wally gently places the plant inside the old boot.
Dusts dirt off the leaves.
EXT. TRUCK - DUSK
Robot and faithful cockroach return home.
Wally stops short of the threshold.
Stares at the ground.
Continues staring.
A RED DOT
quivers on the dirt.
A single laser point of light.
Wally moves to touch it...
...The dot races along the ground.
Wally drops his Igloo.
Chases after the dot.
EXT. EMPTY BAY
The dot leads Wally deep into the polluted expanse.
He is so fixated on it he doesn’t notice
MANY LASER POINTS
coming from every direction.
All racing into the valley over the contour of the terrain.
Triangulating towards a center.
Wally’s dot suddenly stops.
Slowly he reaches for it.
Can’t grab it. Just light.
ALL THE DOTS converge in front of him.
The ground shakes.
Wally becomes confused.
Doesn’t see above him.
The SUN growing brighter behind the cloud cover.
A noise. Building.
7.
Rocket engines.
Wally senses he should look to the sky.
Now THREE SUNS are descending on him.
Wally runs for it.
An enormous COLUMN OF FIRE blocks his path.
A second column of fire.
A third.
Trapped.
Wally cubes the ground beneath him.
Working fast.
Noise deafening.
Heat rising.
Digs in just as a tide of flame carpets the ground...
...Then suddenly quiet.
Smoke clears.
CLOSE ON THE SCORCHED EARTH
Wally’s head rises out of the dirt.
Glows red hot from the heat.
Trembles with fright.
Everything in shadow.
Something very big looms over him.
Wally climbs out of his hole.
Bangs his head on metal.
WIDE on a massive SPACESHIP.
Rests ominously in the empty bay.
A PORTAL on its underside opens.
Frightened, Wally tries to hide.
Nowhere to go.
He places a SMALL ROCK on his head. Boxes up.
A DEVICE lowers to the ground on a long stem.
Scans the surface.
Wally creeps closer for a better look.
The device unfolds.
Wally boxes up again.
A CAPSULE descends from a chute in the stem.
ROBOT ARMS emerge from the device.
Place the capsule on the ground. Press buttons.
The capsule falls away in sections, to reveal...
...a PROBE ROBOT.
It hovers gracefully above the ground.
White. Egg-shaped.
8.
Blue-lit eyes.
Female.
Eve.
Wally is transfixed.
Inches closer.
Watches Eve from behind the device.
Tilts his head.
Time stops.
She’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.
Eve hovers over the ground.
A BLUE RAY emits from her front panel.
Fans out 180 degrees.
Scans random objects and areas.
The device rises back into the ship.
Exposes Wally.
He rushes for cover behind the nearest rock.
Never takes his eyes off Eve.
Watches her float away from the ship.
...from the ship?
The ship!
Engines roar back to life.
Wally digging furiously.
The rocket takes off.
Smoke clears.
Again, a red hot Wally peeks out from the ground.
Looks for Eve.
She is watching the ship rise into the clouds.
Waits until it is completely out of sight...
...then Eve rises high up into the air.
She flies around the bay.
Soars like a graceful bird.
Does loops in the sky.
Zooms right past Wally’s rock.
He is hypnotized.
Eve descends gently to the ground...
Wally sneaks up closer.
Hides behind another boulder.
Slips.
Makes a NOISE.
Instantly, Eve whips around.
Her arm converts into a LASER CANNON.
Blasts Wally’s boulder to smithereens.
...Smoke clears...All quiet.
Eve, now cold and dangerous.
9.
Scans the area.
No sign of life.
All business again.
Hovers away to probe more of the planet.
ON OTHER SIDE OF BOULDER CRATER
Wally boxed up behind what little remains of the rock.
Trembles uncontrollably.
EXT. AVENUE OF TRASH - DAY
Eve wanders through the pillars of cubed trash.
Scans random areas.
Wally spies from the shadows.
Too frightened to approach.
She moves on. He follows.
EXT. TIRE DUMP - DAY
Eve probes a mound of tires.
Wally hiding nearby.
He flinches at the sight of
HIS COCKROACH
innocently approaching Eve from behind.
She spins around.
Blasts the insect.
Wally is gut-punched.
The cockroach climbs out of the smoking crater.
Unscathed. Still curious.
Eve finds the insect intriguing.
Lowers her arm.
The end separates into individual hovering sections...
...A HAND.
She lets the insect crawl up her arm.
Wiggles into her workings.
It tickles.
EVE
[Giggles]
Wally relaxes.
CHUCKLES privately.
Eve sonically picks up Wally’s location.
Locks onto him.
10.
Arm converts to laser cannon.
Fires rapidly.
Quick glimpses of Wally dodging the blasts.
Trash piles are systematically obliterated around him.
Wally now exposed.
Nowhere to hide.
Boxes himself up. Shakes uncontrollably.
Eve holds her fire.
EVE
(electronic hums)
[Identify yourself.]
She slowly approaches Wally’s box.
Keeps her gun trained on him.
EVE
(electronic hums)
[Repeat. Identify yourself.]
Wally peeks out from his box.
Doesn’t understand a thing she says.
Doesn’t care.
Can’t believe she’s real.
The cockroach climbs down her gun arm.
Jumps onto his master.
Eve scans Wally.
A RED LIGHT appears on her chest.
Buzzes “negative”.
He’s not what she’s looking for.
She retracts her gun arm.
Hovers off.
Wally watches her go. Lovestruck.
WALLY
[Sigh.]
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. ABANDONED BNL SUPERSTORE - NEXT DAY
LOUIS ARMSTRONG’S “LA VIE EN ROSE” PLAYS
Eve scans through the market.
Wally follows from a safe distance.
A stray puppy-dog.
Eve glances over at him.
Wally panics.
Bumps into a RACK OF SHOPPING CARTS.
Creates an avalanche.
11.
They chase him down a flight of stairs.
Wally reaches the exit doors.
Won’t open!
Carts pig pile on top of him.
EXT. BNL REFINERY - NIGHT
Wally perched on the roof.
Patiently watches Eve fly.
She scans the ground below her, like a searchlight.
Eve comes in for a landing below.
Shuts down for the night.
Wally waits.
Quietly sneaks down the refinery fire escape.
Accidentally trips. Tumbles to the ground.
Eve doesn’t wake.
Wally creeps up to her.
Opens his arms wide...
...and measures her.
Turns to a pile of trash.
Splits open his eyes. Begins welding something...
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. BNL REFINERY - NEXT MORNING
Eve powers up again.
Does a double take.
A TRASH SCULPTURE OF EVE stands in front of her.
She hovers away, unimpressed.
Doesn’t notice Wally hiding behind a PILE OF PIPES.
Wally kicks the pipes in frustration.
They roll on top of him.
SONG ENDS
MONTAGE OF EVE SEARCHING
- Scans a car engine.
Negative.
Slams the hood shut.
- Scans a Port-A-Potty.
Negative.
Slams the door shut.
- Scans an Apollo capsule.
Negative.
Slams the hatch shut.
- Scans a FREIGHTER HOLD.
12.
Negative.
Slams the lid shut.
EXT. DERELICT SHIPYARD - DUSK
Eve hovers over the freighter.
Frustrated.
Not finding what she’s looking for.
Wally eavesdrops from afar.
Eve flies past the ship’s CRANE MAGNET.
Gets stuck.
Wrestles to free herself.
Furious, she BLOWS UP THE ENTIRE SHIP.
The reaction startles Wally.
Eve slumps down against a dredged anchor.
She gives up.
Concerned, Wally cautiously approaches.
Sits at the other end of the anchor.
Both robots stare silently at the fiery wreck.
Then...
...slowly, very slowly, Wally inches towards her.
Musters the courage to speak, when --
She suddenly turns to him:
EVE
(hums)
[So what’s your story?]
Wally falls backwards with surprise.
Me?
Eve scrolls through a variety of languages:
EVE
(German)
[Directive?]
(Japanese)
[Directive?]
WALLY
[Huh?]
EVE
(Swahili)
[Directive?]
(English)
Directive?
WALLY
(beeps)
[Oh, I understand that!]
13.
EVE
Directive?
Wally eagerly turns to some nearby trash.
Scoops it into his compactor.
Proudly spits out a cube.
Points to Eve.
WALLY
(struggles to speak)
Di...rec...t--
EVE
Directive?
Wally nods.
EVE
Classified.
WALLY
(beeps)
[Oh. Sorry.]
She scans his CHEST LOGO.
EVE
Name?
WALLY
(struggles again)
W-wally? ...Wally.
EVE
(smooth; almost perfect)
Wwww-aaaa-leee...
Wally nearly melts.
She says his name so beautifully.
Moves closer.
EVE
Wally. (giggles)
Eve.
Wally tries to repeat it:
WALLY
Eeee...?
EVE
(slower)
Eve.
14.
WALLY
Eeeaaah?
EVE
Eeeve. Eeeve.
WALLY
Eee--vah!
She giggles again.
Wally likes making her giggle.
WALLY
Eee-vah! Ee --
EVE
Eve.
The wind kicks up.
The WARNING LIGHT sounds on Wally’s chest.
He moves to grab her.
WALLY
(Gasp!) Eee-vah!
EVE
(hums)
[Hey watch it! Don’t come any closer!]
She draws her gun on him.
Doesn’t understand the danger.
The sandstorm rushes up behind her.
Too late.
Wally collapses into a box.
The storm hits full force.
Eve is instantly lost, disoriented.
EVE
Wally? Wally?
WALLY’S HAND appears out of the dust.
Calmly takes Eve’s hand.
INT. TRUCK - MOMENTS LATER
The back door lowers.
A rush of wind and sand.
Wally pulls Eve inside. Closes the door.
She coughs up dust.
Wally hits a switch...
Strings of CHRISTMAS LIGHTS fill the space.
His racks of oddities painted in colored light.
15.
An air of enchantment.
Eve is taken aback.
WALLY
(beeps)
[Come on in.]
She drifts through the sea of knickknacks.
Becomes spooked by a SINGING BILLY BASS FISH.
Threatens to shoot it, but Wally calms her down.
He is compelled to show her everything.
Hands her an eggbeater...
...bubble wrap (so infectious to pop)...
...a lightbulb (lights when she holds it)...
...the Rubik’s Cube (she solves it immediately)...
...his Hello Dolly tape.
Curious, she begins unspooling the tape.
WALLY
(loud beeps)
[My tape!!]
He grabs it back. Protective.
Inserts it carefully into the VCR. Please still work.
The movie eventually appears on the TV.
Plays a clip of POYSC.
Wally is relieved.
WALLY
(beeps)
[What do you think?]
Mimics the dancing for Eve.
Encourages her to try.
She clumsily hops up and down.
Makes dents in the floor. Rattles everything.
Wally politely stops her.
WALLY
(beeps)
[How ‘bout we try a different move?]
Spins in a circle. Arms out.
Eve copies.
Spins faster, and faster...
Too fast.
Accidentally strikes Wally. He flies into the shelves.
Eve helps him up from the mess.
Wally’s LEFT BINOCULAR EYE falls off.
Dangles from two wires.
Eve GASPS with concern.
Wally placates her.
16.
WALLY
(beeps)
[It’s fine.]
Feels his way to the rack of shelves.
Rotates them until...
...SPARE WALL-E PARTS appear.
Replaces his broken eye with a new one.
Eve is relieved.
She eyes his LIGHTER COLLECTION.
Flicks open a Zippo. Ignites a FLAME.
Wally freezes.
He had no idea it could do that.
Moves closer to inspect it...
ON WALLY
It’s the closest he’s ever been to Eve.
She remains focused on the lighter.
Wally stares up at her.
...The tiny flame flickering between them...
...The Hello Dolly video plays IOTAM in the background...
Suddenly, he is moved to express his love.
Musters the courage to open his fingers...
...Timidly reaches his hand out to hers...
-- Eve turns and looks at him.
Wally instantly chokes.
Pulls his hand back.
Eve becomes intrigued with the TV.
Scans the image of the lovers singing IOTAM...
Wally watches her.
His infatuation still palpable.
Then he remembers...
WALLY
Ee-vah!
He rushes to his shelves.
Eve watches him rummage through junk.
A drum falls down on his head.
She giggles, charmed by it all.
Something about Wally...
She is drawn back to the lovers on TV...
...then the lit Zippo lighter in her hand.
A tap on her shoulder.
She turns to find Wally holding something.
The plant.
Eve immediately locks onto it.
17.
Drops the lighter.
In a flash...
...her chest opens...
...a TRACTOR BEAM snatches the plant away...
...stores it inside her...
Then she shuts down completely.
Only a SINGLE GREEN LIGHT pulsing on her chest.
Wally is stunned.
What’d I do?
Waves his hand in front of her face.
WALLY
Ee-vah?
Knocks on her chest plate.
No response.
Wally panics.
Gently shakes her.
WALLY
Ee-vah?
Still no response.
WALLY
Ee-vah? ...Ee-vah?!
CAMERA MOVES IN on the blinking green light...
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. ROOF OF WALLY’S TRUCK - DAY
The morning sun.
Wally places Eve in his charging spot.
Aims her hovering form to f
Actually looks like I can only post the first "part", roughly... Already this is lagging my phone. Will experiment more tomorrow. For now, enjoy!

Excerpt from this story from the New York Times:
The leaders of more than half of Africa’s nations gathered this week in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s sprawling seaside metropolis, to commit to the biggest burst of spending on electric-power generation in Africa’s history.
The World Bank, African Development Bank and others are pledging at least $35 billion to expand electricity across a continent where more than a half-billion people still don’t have it. About half of the money will go toward solar “minigrids” that serve individual communities. The loans will come at below-market interest rates, a crucial stipulation as global lenders usually charge much higher rates in Africa, citing higher risks.
In an interview, Ajay Banga, the president of the World Bank, cast the initiative in sweeping terms where economic development met societal stability and basic human rights. “Without electricity, we can’t get jobs, health care, skills,” he said. The success of electrification, he said, is “foundational to everything.”
The summit’s promise is to get half of Africa’s 600 million unelectrified people powered up in just six years. That averages out to five million people a month. Mr. Banga said the World Bank, on its own, had not yet even passed the one-million-a-month mark.
The loans from the World Bank and the African Development Bank put into place this week are contingent on the regulatory overhauls that, in many cases, allow for private electricity providers to compete more freely with state-run utilities. Tanzania is one of 12 countries signing such “compacts” at the summit meeting. In the coming months, 18 more are expected.
In addition to solar minigrids, a roughly equal amount of money will go toward extending traditional, existing power grids, which are mostly supplied by hydropower and fossil fuels.

I'm generally out of the vocaloid circles since a few years after Miku. What would you recommend for someone to dip their toes back in?
i recommend MY MUSIC i mean honestly that lack of a clear entryway back in is kind of what has made the age of the original miku boom so appealing, i think?
it used to be a really densely compacted fandom... and now... it's not...
the vocal synth space was so consolidated into effectively one language & set of voice banks and at the height of miku's power there was just no competition. there was pretty much just the crypton crew... and gumi, and sort of gakupo. fanart consolidated around a narrower set of songs, translations & reuploads were all localized...
it's funny as hell to look at the full timeline of when people who weren't diehard fans couldn't keep up with the sheer amount of shit coming out, even as the landscape was getting genuinely super exciting across so many new supported languages & diversity of characters.
it's a fascinating history with a lot of ebbs & flows!
but we're currently experiencing a bit of a renaissance... because, uh, an elephant in the room of machine learning models making this software rapidly a lot better. here's a good twitter thread explaining where we're at, and how we currently understand this software is being developed.
the moral of the story is that it ain't even vocaloid anymore. we've all scattered to the wind across a bunch of different software. synthesizer V! cevio! voicevox! maghni! it's getting confusing!
hence, why a lot of people prefer to tag as "vocal synth" or something, because it's an annoying kleenex vs. tissue situation.
regardless, here are some of my recent favs:
my friend @hoshizukiyo111 made a playlist of teto songs that i have been liberally enjoying. teto you'll recognize from UTAU days, but she's gotten a huge spike in popularity with her SV port being so dang good.
2. i've been obsessed with like_a_basyauma's work with akane & aoi kotohana. these two are actually more famous for being text to speech characters who then got SV voice banks! the take of them as doing their best while sharing a brain cell is unbelievably charming.
youtube
3. OSTER project has been an idol of mine for like a decade now, and her most recent song with zundamon's voicevox library has been stuck in my head since it released. it's so true. zundamon is a girl. OSTER is the #1 purveyor of lesbianism in the vocal synth space and i thank her for her service every day.
youtube
honestly, it's mostly a game of just training your youtube recommendations to launch you into the right part of the internet. a lot of the uploading has consolidated onto youtube the past few years, so trawling NND isn't as necessary as it used to be...
you can also check out the #vocalonew tag on twitter, where people will post their new releases.
best of luck on your journey!
#vocalsynth talking#new talking tag christened#i would recommend other english language producers but unfortunately i'm the only english language producer i enjoy#(airhorns)

Astronomers discover magnetic loops around supermassive black hole
NGC 1068 is a well-known, relatively nearby, bright galaxy with a supermassive black hole at its center. Despite its status as a popular target for astronomers, however, its accretion disk is obscured by thick clouds of dust and gas. A few light-years in diameter, the outer accretion disk is dotted by hundreds of distinct water maser sources that hinted for decades at deeper structures.
Masers are distinct beacons of electromagnetic radiation that shine in microwave or radio wavelengths; in radio astronomy, water masers observed at a frequency of 22 GHz are particularly useful because they can shine through much of the dust and gas that obscures optical wavelengths.
Led by astronomer Jack Gallimore of Bucknell University, an international team of astronomers and students set out to observe NGC 1068 with twin goals in mind: astrometric mapping of the galaxy's radio continuum and measurements of polarization for its water masers.
"NGC 1068 is a bit of a VIP among active galaxies," says co-author C. M. Violette Impellizzeri. "It is unusually powerful, with a black hole and an edge-on accretion disk. And because it is so nearby, it has been really, really well-studied in detail." Gallimore and his team set out to look at NGC 1068 in a completely new way, however. Their paper is published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
Observations of this nature relied upon the recently upgraded High Sensitivity Array (HSA), which consists of the NSF NRAO telescopes at the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, the Very Long Baseline Array, and the Green Bank Telescope networked together and fully supported by NSF NRAO.
By measuring the polarization of water masers as well as the continuum of radio emissions from NGC 1068, the team generated a map revealing the compact radio source now known as NGC 1068* as well as mysterious extended structures of more faint emissions.
Mapping the astrometric distribution of NGC 1068 and its water masers revealed that they are spread along filaments of structure. "It really came out in these new observations, that these filaments of maser spots line up like beads on a string," Gallimore summarized.
The team was stunned to see that there's a clear offset—a displacement angle—between the radio continuum showing the structures at the galaxy's core and the locations of the masers themselves. "The configuration is unstable, so we are probably observing the source of a magnetically-launched outflow."
HSA measurements of the polarization of these water masers revealed striking evidence of magnetic fields. "No one has ever seen polarization in water masers outside of our galaxy," Gallimore emphasized. Similar to the looping structures seen on our sun's surface as prominences, the polarization pattern of these water masers clearly indicates that magnetic fields are also at the root of these light-year-scale structures as well.
"Looking at the filaments, and seeing that the polarization vectors are perpendicular to them, that's the key to confirming that they are magnetically driven structures. It's exactly what you'd expect to see," Gallimore summarizes.
Previous studies of the region hinted at patterns usually associated with magnetic fields, but such conclusions remained beyond the reach of observing technology until recently. "Only the HSA has the combination of resolution and sensitivity needed to map out magnetic fields using polarized light," says Gallimore.
Impellizzeri adds, "There have been a lot of upgrades that the NSF NRAO facilities have undergone. All of the telescopes have had significant improvements. And so one of the reasons we decided that it was worth redoing these observations, instead of just going back to the archive, was that we knew we would get much better data now."
Their findings reveal evidence of a compact central radio source (the galaxy's supermassive black hole), clear polarization of the water masers indicating structure within NGC 1068's magnetic fields, and spectacular extended features across the continuum of radio frequencies. Together, these findings indicate that magnetic fields are the underlying drivers of these phenomena.
Plenty of mysteries remain, however. Within the radio continuum map, for instance, there is a diffuse, faint protrusion that the team nicknamed "the foxtail," which extends northward from the central region.
Gallimore says, "We said to ourselves, when we set out to do this, 'let's see if we can really push the limits and get a good continuum as well as polarization data." And both of those goals succeeded. With the NSF NRAO High Sensitivity Array, we detected water megamaser polarization for the first time, and we also made a really amazing continuum map that we're still trying to wrap our minds around."
