#147 #NothingLikeADeadline to motivate you to #GetThingsDone Earlier this week week I was given a deadline for done work that I needed to get done. Well, technically speaking, it wasn't explicitly called a deadline. I was just told that we would be reviewing the material I was preparing on Friday at high noon. (Ok. I added the “high”. :) So, while not an explicit deadline, the deadline was implicit. At least I took it that way. It's just me playing mind games on myself. There was work to be done. I started early in the week. I knew the subject matter. I just had to document my knowledge. Ack. Documentation. Gotta love it… :p The deadline I made for myself, however, served its purpose. I finished the task that I had been wallowing on. Sometimes, that's all you need. A deadline. Real or imaginary. Something that will help you accomplish what you need to do. At work, people will give you deadlines. They serve a purpose as long as they are challenging but realistic. Deadlines can do wonders for you in your personal life as well. Set a deadline for yourself and hold yourself accountable. If you don't trust yourself, tell someone else who you don't want to disappoint to hold you accountable. #98 #TripFallAndGetBackUpAgain I was wearing my #huaraches on my #commuterun to #BJJ training today. (They are in the last picture if you are not familiar with huaraches or running sandals.) It was a typical run. However, there are parts where the sidewalk is being built along the way and places where there is dirt in preparation to put in the sidewalk. When there are no cars coming, I run on the street. (This particular street has light traffic so it’s no problem.) When there is an oncoming vehicle, I switch over the the sidewalk or dirt. In this particular instance, I am not sure what happened, but I got my left sandal stuck on something (or nothing because I looked back and there was nothing there). I tripped and almost lost my balance and fell. Luckily, I didn’t. I looked at my foot, looked at my huarache, looked at the ground, all ok. Just a little scare there. I just started running again like my usual #weird self. What’s my point? Sometimes life trips you up and you fall (or almost fall). Some hardships are there to prevent the average person from getting to where they want to go. You are not the average person. #GetUp, dust yourself off and #keepgoing.
