1. The (Third) Worst Year by @the-francakes [E, 20k]

Draco Malfoy has one year to fall in True Love with Harry Potter or be turned into a Dragon. And he knows that is never gunna happen. This is going to be the worst year of his life. Well, minus that whole having to kill Dumbledore or be killed by Voldemort thing. Second worst year. Oh, but there was his whole 7th year while Voldemort was using his house as a home base for Death Eaters and making him torture his fellow students. That one was pretty bad too. Fine, this is the third worst year of his life.

2. coffee & communication: a (slow) romance by @softlystarstruck [E, 10k]   *restricted

Nearly a decade after the war, Draco has made a life for himself in Muggle London, writing romance novels and hanging out with his cat. But when he spills iced coffee all over a gorgeous man who turns out to be Harry Potter, has he tumbled into the start of his own romance without realizing it? And how difficult can it be to talk about desire, anyways? He writes smut for a living. Surely it can’t be that difficult.

This is a love story between a trans lad and his werewolf boyfriend. It’s about loving someone in their very furry entirety. It’s about being your true self and loving that self. It’s about getting absolutely railed.

So what then makes The Greatest Game? The Greatest Game is something more. The drama, the tension, the narrative that the other games lack. There is a story here. Two rivals with a history spanning years; the oldest, most illustrious prize to be won. Prime pickings for a plotline. But wait, there’s more. Two lovers with a secret spanning seasons, a secret that is about to be discovered. What I am trying to say is, The Greatest Game is greatest because it has the greatest story.

Draco's bored. Ever since he's become King, he hasn't done anything apart from being stuck in assemblies and meetings. He yearns for a life with adventure and excitement. So, when a group of pirates start raiding the villages of his Kingdom, Draco sees the perfect opportunity to escape his duties as a King for a little while. After all, there isn't much that could go wrong. Right?

9. Yours Truly by @skeptiquewrites [M, 14k]

Every single one of Harry’s exes has gone on to marry the next person they date, and with the upcoming nuptials of numbers six and seven to each other, Harry’s feeling exhausted by it all. It doesn’t really matter if he lets people assume Draco Malfoy is his boyfriend for a moment of peace. In any case, Draco’s been away for five years and there’s no way he would find out, right?

Drarry projects on tumblr appreciation

It’s summer, it’s hot, too many words makes head hurt, but. This is important. Did you know? That this fandom is blessed with so many cool individuals, who create the COOLEST projects? (Yes: really, really, really cool). Like: 

1. @drarrymicrofic​. I, for one, wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the sweat and tears and SWEETness of the people of @drarrymicrofic. Running such a large operation must be one hell of an endeavour, but they do it all with so much love, with so much passion for the craft and the people behind it. Sparking inspiration, cheering people on, giving a boost to new writers (and old!), changing lives. Yeah. To the people behind drarry microfic: thank you.

2. Tuesday TLC Zone – sometimes being kind is hard. Especially to yourself. @the-starryknight​ takes time and effort to remind us it’s possible, that it’s important, gives us a gentle push to explore the things we like, to spread love and joy and yes, kindness, into the world. To share positivity, and also share bits of ourselves. Because we’re allowed, because it’s fun, because it matters. Thank you, Starry.

3. @magicaltrans​ is doing such brilliant, remarkable work, creating a much needed safe space for trans individuals in this fandom, giving a hand and a boost and so so much support. We all know where the source material for our fandom comes from. And in this place, magical trans is here celebrating trans people, trans love, trans joy, trans being! Making a space! They also mod a discord server (if the link in this post doesn’t work, ask them for a new one). To the people behind magical trans: thank you. 

4. Wizards Hearts is the @gameofdrarry​​ community fest that celebrates existing works rather than creating new ones. It’s so easy to forget older fics when so much is being made all the time - which makes this initiative so incredible! Showering existing works with love, shining a light on new (to-you) fic, creating recs and generating joy: just, absolutely brilliant. Thank you!

5. @crazybutgood​‘s Author Appreciation Project – CBG puts so much work and thought and heart into her origami art, using her incredible talent to bring people together, to give us the chance to flail about each other, to let us shower each other with love. Then she takes all that and condenses it into the world’s most enchanting, special rec posts. Thank you, CBG!

6. @drarryspecificrecs​ does incredible work organising SO MUCH information of drarry fic, whether it’s in the daily lists (at @drarryspecificrecsdaily​, for example here for July 31st), the monthly longest-fic lists (see here for July this year), fest information (see here for 2022). Where would we be without them? I shudder at the thought. Thank you for the magic!

7. I know what you’re thinking: fests, Robin, what about fests? Well. The thing is, there are so many fests, ran by so many wonderful people who give us their time? Actually for free? There’s @hd-wireless​ and @hp-fearfest​ and @hp-bodiceripper​ and @hd-fan-fair​ and @lcdrarry​ and @hpdrizzle​ and @hdsudsfest​ and and and honestly I can’t even begin to—I can’t. So I’ll just say: wow, wow, wow, and also a sort of teary-eyed, misty, big thank you.

Hi hello, I've been reading your work on AO3 and been commenting along. I asked on reddit yesterday about upcoming fests as I feel really inspired to get back into writing ( - it's been a while). And I landed on your tumblr through there! I was wondering in particular about the Owl Post fest in Dec 2022. Are you organising this? I don't know how to find information about how to participate and if that's still possible. Sorry if I'm being a bit dense, it's super early in the morning for me and I can't figure it out somehow :') anyway, would love to hear from you! Thank you for sharing your brilliant writing! Hey there! It's been so lovely getting your comments lately; I just want to start with that! I don't have anything to do with the running of Owl Post, but it is an absolutely lovely and low-stress fest! Unfortunately, their submissions are due tomorrow and the fest begins December 1st. Here is their Tumblr, though, so you can follow the fest and maybe join in next year: Owl Post!

That said, there are a metric ton of HP and also specifically Drarry fests that run year round. Several people have made compilations of fests in the past, like @capiturecs, but I know there are others. Anybody want to link to lists of fests, pretty please?

This is a fraction of the fests that exist, but this year I participated in @hd-fangfest @hd-wireless @hp-bodiceripper and @hdsudsfest just to throw a few out there. But there are so so SO many more!

You could also follow reccers, because odds are they will eventually rec things from specific fests, and that's a great way to learn about what's running and what you might want to get involved in. @sitp-recs is an amazing resource (and incredibly kind person) to follow!

There are also all kinds of Discord groups if you're interested, and they can be a wonderful way to really join the community, make friends, and create a support network around your own writing. The @drarrymicrofic server is one (if you’d like an invite, I can send you one in a DM, but there is the Tumblr community you can follow as well); there's also a much larger server for Drarry too, as well as multitudes of others. Highly recommend!

I hope you have fun taking a look around at these HP tumblrs! There are also just so many lovely individual people (writers, artists, various others) to follow as well, and I can toss a few names of friendly people at you as well.
