A Look into FedEx Delivery Vans
Whenever you're searching for used delivery vans to use with your business, you will notice that vehicle dealers are selling units that look like FedEx delivery vans without the logo and other corporate markings. This is typical because delivery trucks and van dealers usually buy used units with expired FedEx contracts.
Unlike its major competitor, FedEx resells its old delivery vehicles to brokers, which are then sent to an auction. This can create a cycle of selling and buying considering that independent FedEx operators and drivers, such as those under FedEx Ground, are free to procure their much-needed delivery vehicles from a van and truck dealer Oklahoma City or anywhere within the U.S. as long as the vehicle specifications are met under corporate standards.
FedEx Corporation is a Tennessee-based global holding company focused on e-commerce and transportation, among others. This conglomerate was founded in 1971 in Arkansas, and it now has a worldwide network with 1,950 locations as of 2020. Its former names are Federal Express Corporation and FDX Corporation.
As a holding company, FedEx has several operations and here are some of those associated with delivery trucks:
FedEx Express is what the company is most known for. It's an air courier service provider offering same-day and overnight delivery services in the U.S. and time-definite service for international clients. One of the units under this corporate arm is the FedEx Custom Critical, which specializes in expedited ground freight deliveries with special specifications like increased security or temperature control. Drivers under Custom Critical are independent contractors and own their own delivery trucks.
FedEx Ground provides day-definite delivery within the US and Canada. It makes deliveries for residential clients (FedEx Home Delivery) and ecommerce/business clients (FedEx SmartPost). This subsidiary has a large fleet of delivery trucks which are owned by independent contractors i.e. business operators and/or drivers.
FedEx Freight focuses on less-than-truckload (LTL) freight and related services.
Some of the delivery truck specifications for independent FedEx Custom Critical operators are:
Box color must be white
Has inside dimensions of 90inches wide and 92inches high
Capable of legally scaling cargo payload capacity to 5,000lbs for small straight trucks and 13,000lbs for large straight trucks
Has a dock-high box floor that's 48inches to 52inches from the ground
Has a rear door opening of at least 85inches width and 88inches height
Rear frame's safety support legs must have a minimum rating of 25,000lbs for small trucks and 35,000lbs for large units
Has legal sleeper between the box and the cab
When it comes to tractor-trailers for independent contractors:
The vehicle model must be at most 8 years old;
Cargo payload capacity must be 44,000lbs; and
Four tire chains must be available in the truck.
When it comes to FedEx Home Delivery (FedEx Ground), step vans have been a favorite of many contractors for decades. They are basically designed to enable ease of access for the drivers, and thus, saving them more time and energy as well as improve the number of deliveries completed. Freightliner and Ford units are also a popular choice for many independent FedEx operators and drivers due to their dependability and sturdy construction. These manufacturers are also some of the top names in the industry.
If you're looking for used delivery vans and trucks, whether you're an independent FedEx operator and/or driver or a business owner offering deliveries to your clients, get in touch with with Truck-N-Trailer. It’s a family-owned and operated truck dealer Oklahoma City offering a massive range of used commercial trucks and vans from trusted manufacturers. They also offer a variety of vehicle repair and maintenance services.

Biden’s approval slumps after a slew of crises: AP-NORC poll (AP) President Joe Biden’s popularity has slumped after a slew of challenges in recent weeks at home and abroad for the leader who pledged to bring the country together and restore competence in government, according to a new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Fifty percent now say they approve of Biden, while 49% disapprove. The results come as Americans process the harried and deadly evacuation from Afghanistan, mounted border patrol agents charging at Haitian refugees, the unshakable threat of the coronavirus with its delta variant and the legislative drama of Biden trying to negotiate his economic, infrastructure and tax policies through Congress. Since July, Biden’s approval rating has dipped slightly among Democrats (from 92% to 85%) and among independents who don’t lean toward either party (from 62% to 38%). Just 11% of Republicans approve of the president, which is similar to July.
US hits 700,000 COVID deaths just as cases begin to fall (AP) The United States reached its latest heartbreaking pandemic milestone Friday, eclipsing 700,000 deaths from COVID-19 just as the surge from the delta variant is starting to slow down and give overwhelmed hospitals some relief. It took 3 ½ months for the U.S. to go from 600,000 to 700,000 deaths, driven by the variant’s rampant spread through unvaccinated Americans. The death toll is larger than the population of Boston. Nationwide, the number of people now in the hospital with COVID-19 has fallen to somewhere around 75,000 from over 93,000 in early September. New cases are on the downswing at about 112,000 per day on average, a drop of about one-third over the past 2 1/2 weeks. Deaths, too, appear to be declining.
Yes, the Stock Market May Very Well Be Rigged (Bloomberg) Most Americans believe the stock market is rigged, and they just may be right. Investments by insiders—a senior executive, board member, or shareholder who owns 10% or more of a company—tend to significantly and consistently outperform benchmark indexes. U.S. trading rules make it illegal for insiders to trade on nonpublic information, but it’s long been an open secret that insiders trade on what they know. And no one seems to care.
California to require COVID-19 vaccines for schoolchildren (AP) California will become the first U.S. state to require COVID-19 vaccinations for children to attend public and private schools in person in a mandate that could effect millions of students. Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday announced that the coronavirus shot will be added to 10 other immunizations already required for school kids, including those for measles and mumps. Exemptions would be granted for medical reasons or because of religious or personal beliefs but the exemption rules haven’t been written yet pending public comment. Any student without an exemption who refuses to get the vaccine would be forced to do independent study at home.
Flooded Tennessee town wrestles with how, where to rebuild (AP) In the 100 years that Jim Traylor’s family had lived in his house in rural Waverly, Tennessee, it hadn’t once flooded. The normally shallow Trace Creek where he had fished and swam as a kid had never crossed the one-lane road that separated it from his home. That changed on Aug. 21, when more than 17 inches (43 centimeters) of rain just upstream transformed the usually placid waterway into a roiling river that rushed into his house and devastated the town, killing 20 people before it receded. The water was already halfway up his tires by the time the 79-year-old decided to flee. A hundred years ago, the massive flood would have been seen as a fluke of nature, a once-in-a-lifetime event. Residents could have built back without fear. But today, climate change is making the type of flood-producing rainfall that inundated Waverly more common, experts say. And so now, the roughly 4,000 people who live there face a dilemma. With more than 500 homes and 50 businesses damaged, Waverly will likely see massive losses in property and sales tax revenue even as it prepares to spend millions on debris removal and infrastructure repairs. If those homes and businesses don’t return, the town could slowly die. But if they build back along the creek, are they risking another disaster?
With gas pumps still dry, Britain brings in the army (Reuters) Britain will from Monday deploy military tanker drivers to deliver fuel to gas stations, many of which were still dry on Friday after a chaotic week that has seen panic-buying, fights at the pumps and drivers hoarding petrol in water bottles. With an acute shortage of truck drivers straining supply chains to breaking point the government said on Friday 200 military tanker personnel, 100 of which are drivers, will complete their training over the weekend and start deliveries on Monday. Shortages of workers in the wake of Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic have sown disarray through some sectors of the economy, disrupting deliveries of fuel and medicines and leaving more than 100,000 pigs backed up on farms. Retailers said more than 2,000 gas stations were dry and Reuters reporters across London and southern England said dozens of pumps were still closed.
Sick of weeds and trash piles, Rome to elect new mayor (AP) Curbside weeds in Rome grow so tall, they cover car door handles, giving new meaning to the term urban jungle. With sidewalks impassable because of piles of uncollected trash, people resort to pushing baby strollers down the middle of pothole-pocked streets. Overflowing garbage bins attract wild boars, terrifying passersby. As for mass transit, some subway stations in the commercial heart of the city, awaiting sorely needed escalator repairs, have been closed for months. Rome’s first populist mayor, Virginia Raggi is running for a second term in an election Sunday and Monday, and the sorry state of basic municipal services such as trash pickup and street maintenance is a major issue in this city of ruins, just as it was the first time around. When Romans elected Raggi, they had taken to cleaning up Rome themselves, neighborhood by neighborhood, park by park, bagging trash, filling potholes and passing the hat to pay gardening businesses to pull weeds in playgrounds. Some say things are worse now.
Taiwan angered after largest ever incursion by Chinese air force (Reuters) Taiwan sharply criticised China on Saturday after Beijing marked the founding of the People’s Republic of China with the largest ever incursion by the Chinese air force into the island’s air defence zone. Chinese-claimed Taiwan has complained for a year or more of repeated missions by China’s air force near the democratically governed island, often in the southwestern part of its air defence zone close to the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands. Taiwanese fighters scrambled against 38 Chinese aircraft in two waves on Friday, the Taiwan Defence Ministry said. It said Taiwan sent combat aircraft to warn away the Chinese aircraft, while missile systems were deployed to monitor them.
Philippine leader Duterte announces retirement from politics (AP) Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday announced he was retiring from politics and dropping plans to run for vice president in next year’s elections when his term ends, avoiding a legal battle with opponents who question such a move. Speaking before reporters, Duterte said many Filipinos have expressed their opposition to his vice-presidential bid in surveys and public forums. “The overwhelming sentiment of the Filipino is that I’m not qualified, and it would be a violation of the constitution,” Duterte said. “In obedience to the will of the people ... I will follow what you wish and today I announce my retirement from politics.” The 76-year-old leader, known for his deadly anti-drugs crackdown, brash rhetoric and unorthodox political style, earlier accepted the ruling party’s nomination for him to seek the vice presidency in the May 9 elections. The decision outraged many of his opponents.
Kidnapping, assassination and a London shoot-out: Inside the CIA's secret war plans against WikiLeaks (Yahoo) In 2017, as Julian Assange began his fifth year holed up in Ecuador’s embassy in London, the CIA plotted to kidnap the WikiLeaks founder. Some senior officials inside the CIA and the Trump administration even discussed killing Assange, going so far as to request “sketches” or “options” for how to assassinate him. Discussions over kidnapping or killing Assange occurred “at the highest levels” of the Trump administration, said a former senior counterintelligence official. “There seemed to be no boundaries.” In late 2017, in the midst of the debate over kidnapping and other extreme measures, the agency’s plans were upended when U.S. officials picked up what they viewed as alarming reports that Russian intelligence operatives were preparing to sneak Assange out of the United Kingdom and spirit him away to Moscow. In response, the CIA and the White House began preparing for a number of scenarios to foil Assange’s Russian departure plans, according to three former officials. Those included potential gun battles with Kremlin operatives on the streets of London, crashing a car into a Russian diplomatic vehicle transporting Assange and then grabbing him, and shooting out the tires of a Russian plane carrying Assange before it could take off for Moscow. The intrigue over a potential Assange escape set off a wild scramble among rival spy services in London. American, British and Russian agencies, among others, stationed undercover operatives around the Ecuadorian Embassy. In the Russians’ case, it was to facilitate a breakout. For the U.S. and allied services, it was to block such an escape. “It was beyond comical,” said the former senior official. “It got to the point where every human being in a three-block radius was working for one of the intelligence services—whether they were street sweepers or police officers or security guards.” Eventually, the threat of direct action gave way to court action. On April 11, 2019, after Ecuador’s new government revoked his asylum and evicted him, British police carried the WikiLeaks founder out of the embassy and arrested him for failing to surrender to the court over a warrant issued in 2012.

You don't get any 'do-overs' with your foundation. Depend on engineering, not contracting in this case, The Structure Specialist-- Accredited Structural Assessment to assess your situation. Q: When do cracks in concrete occur?A: Some, immediately, some within 7-28 days of when your house was developed. Lots of put concrete fractures develop within the first two years after the foundation walls are put.
Q: Can a fracture in concrete grow?A: Yes. Freezing, thawing, pressures from extensive soils and seasonal and everyday changes in wetness material within the soil surrounding your home; simply a few of the reasons that cause fractures in concrete to grow or move. Q: Does a crack in a concrete wall that is not dripping requirement repair? I am going to finish my basement and am concerned about destroying my remodelling; destroying my product belongings, carpet, furnishings, boxes, musical instruments, clothing, and so on
. It is suggested that all cracks be repaired prior to completing a basement or keeping important products there. Q: How does crack injection work?A: Often a finished two-part application in one tube, or a 2 part liquid resin through a double barrel tube weapon, which is then pumped to flow, under low pressure, into the fracture in the wall from inside the basement through ports.
Things You Should Learn About Foundation Repair Issues
The resin takes a trip all the way through the wall to the outside where the concrete wall fulfills the dirt. The polymer or hydrophilic reacts chemically with the water, and after that strengthens filling the area within the crack. The ports can be quickly gotten rid of by hacksaw or other tool. Q: For how long will a fracture injection repair work last?A: It depends upon who does the injection.
The repair work may last longer, depending on theextent of the solution. Some companies have "life of the structure" warranties or warranties-- who are theykidding? The structure might last 100 years, while companies come and go. There are no "warranties", simply warranties, which are various, and that is the fact.
That is what we are experiencing on celebration, something 200 years of ages, but more homes that are 1/5 that, around 40-50 years old, prior to it starts to break down. Without maintenance continued along the method. But in the poorer parts of town, where maintenance costs were too much, those residences are truly crumbling after 100 years; newer houses in sub-divisions constructed like Tinker Toys, around 60 which provides about 25 more years.
I am likewise seeing homes with structures which are stopping working after 40 years. We at The Foundation Specialist are not perfect (although we often think we are). We think that our system is virtually stop working safe. I do not forecast or require against earth shaking conditions. But you do get a service warranty.

If there is any concern of structural issues, we'll know when we have actually examined; and if so, call the engineer on responsibility to develop an Engineer's Report, essential for anything 'Structural', to pull the suitable permits, to have an engineer's stamp of approval, which will be important if you ever require to offer your house.
You don't get any 'do-overs' with your structure. Rely on engineering, not contracting in this case, The Foundation Professional-- Accredited Structural Inspection to assess your circumstance. Q: When do cracks in concrete occur?A: Some, immediately, some within 7-28 days of when your home was constructed. Lots of poured concrete cracks establish within the first two years after the structure walls are poured.
Q: Can a fracture in concrete grow?A: Yes. Freezing, thawing, pressures from expansive soils and seasonal and day-to-day changes in moisture material within the soil surrounding your home; simply a few of the reasons that trigger fractures in concrete to grow or move. Q: Does a crack in a concrete wall that is not dripping requirement repair? I am going to finish my basement and am worried about ruining my restoration; ruining my material possessions, carpet, furniture, boxes, musical instruments, clothes, etc
. It is advised that all cracks be repaired prior to finishing a basement or storing important products there. Q: How does crack injection work?A: Sometimes a completed two-part application in one tube, or a 2 part liquid resin through a double barrel tube gun, which is then pumped to flow, under low pressure, into the crack in the wall from inside the basement through ports.
Essential Methods To Foundation Repair Issues
The resin travels all the way through the wall to the outdoors where the concrete wall satisfies the dirt. The polymer or hydrophilic responds chemically with the water, and after that solidifies filling the area within the fracture. The ports can be easily eliminated by hacksaw or other tool. Q: The length of time will a crack injection repair last?A: It depends on who does the injection.
The repair work might last longer, depending on theextent of the service. Some business have "life of the structure" guarantees or service warranties-- who are theykidding? The structure may last 100 years, while companies come and go. There are no "guarantees", just guarantees, which are different, and that is the reality.
That is what we are experiencing on celebration, something 200 years old, but more houses that are 1/5 that, around 40-50 years old, prior to it begins to break down. Without upkeep continued along the method. But in the poorer parts of town, where maintenance costs were excessive, those houses are truly collapsing after 100 years; newer homes in sub-divisions developed like Tinker Toys, around 60 which provides about 25 more years.
I am likewise seeing homes with structures which are failing after 40 years. We at The Foundation Professional are not ideal (although we in some cases believe we are). We think that our system is almost stop working safe. I don't forecast or require against earth shaking conditions. But you do get a service warranty.
The Impact OF Foundation Repair Issues
The Structure Expert will offer you a complimentary labor and materials service warranty from 5-10 years to our Life time Service warranty, which is "as long as you own the house or transfer to next owner with guarantee period". The length is determined by how substantial the solution. How old your place is.

SOME EXCELLENT FACTS ABOUT NATURAL STONE BY BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
Designers are more frequently being asked to identify green building materials but do not always have the needed information. Using the life-cycle data, material fact sheets describing several stone types are being generated to provide useful information in this selection process, among other information. The one-page (double-sided) documents will summarize the current market for stone, regions of deposits worldwide, physical properties, applicable ASTM standards, as well as environmental data and human health considerations. Material Facts Sheets for several of the most commonly used stone types are listed with the descriptions that follow.
LIFE CYCLE INVETORIES
To accurately assess the environmental profile of Genuine Stone products, impacts over the entire life cycle of these products must be identified. Information characterizing stone fabrication was amassed through a rigorous survey of the industry, and life-cycle datasets have been established for granite, limestone, sandstone and slate quarrying and processing operations. The datasets can be downloaded from the links below or the University of Tennessee Center for Clean Products website (click here). Life Cycle Inventory reports for several of the most commonly used stone types are listed with the descriptions that follow
MARBLE
Most people are familiar with marble. From Greek statues to Roman baths, it has been used for centuries in just about every possible interior and exterior application. Marble is relatively hard, but not as hard as granite. Marble basically classifies into four groups which include: Groups A, B, C, and D. These merely indicate fabrication ability, which is based on the materialís level of hardness. It is very popular for fireplaces, bar-tops, and bathrooms, and comes in a wide range of colors.
Marble has the same general properties of limestone and can stain, etch or scratch, but only becomes more beautiful over time and use. Most marble has veining mineral deposits throughout. It is generally thought to be from Italy, but in actuality it is quarried all over the world. Tumbled marble has become extremely popular in the United States in the last few years for backsplash, flooring and shower areas.
GRANITE
The only natural stones harder than granite are diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. Therefore, choose granite when permanence, enduring color and texture, and complete freedom from deterioration and maintenance are prime requirements. Granite is highly heat, scratch and stain resistant, and is commonly used to face commercial and institutional buildings and monuments. It is unequaled as a material for fireplaces, steps, road and driveway curbing, terraces, and to pave plazas and public spaces. Granite is the traditional favorite of countertop materials for its unique colors and patterns, proven durability and lasting value. Granite comes in hundreds of different colors and is quarried in such places as the United States, Canada, Brazil, China, Africa, Norway, India, Argentina, Portugal, Italy, Finland, Russia, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and more.
LIMESTONE
This grain stone has a very uniform texture and grade, and has gained worldwide acceptance as a premier dimension stone. Limestone weathers naturally over time and its color mellows and blends into a pleasing natural patina. With no artificial coloring agents to fade and no reinforcement rods to rust, the appearance of limestone actually improves with age. Limestone exhibits no preferential direction of splitting and can be cut and carved in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Thus, it can be sawed, planed, turned on a lathe or hand worked to match the requirements of demanding architectural designs. Limestone has proven its use from simple treads and pavers to landscaping structures and bridges, to soaring cathedrals over and over again. One benefit that has made limestone a choice product is the consistency of deposit. While subtle color and grain differences are present, limestone is extremely homogenous for a natural product. This is important, not only for the current project being built, but particularly when future expansions are.
SANDSTONE
Composed mainly of sand-size mineral or rock grains, most sandstone is composed of quartz and feldspar – two of the most common minerals in the earth’s crust. Like sand, it can be any color, but most commonly comes in tan, brown, yellow, red, gray and white. The stone generally has a uniform texture and it is somewhat soft, making it user-friendly for a variety of applications. It is favored for wall claddings and flooring because of its low absorption rate, high compression strength, and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
SLATE
Slate is a metamorphic rock that is dense, strong, acid resistant and non-absorptive. It is impervious to freeze/thaw cycles and has been used in construction for thousands of years. It is the material of choice for discerning architects, designers, contractors and builders. Slate produced in North America comes in a variety of colors, including black, gray, green, purple and red.
Many of these slates are available with mottling of more than one color and some of these slates include a color weathering characteristic which adds warm earth tone hues. Most commonly used for interior floor surfaces or exterior landscaping, slate also serves as a durable and stain resistant counter top, beautiful pool coping, shower enclosure, pavers, building cladding, and spectacular, fireproof roof covering that can last the life of the building.
You have multiple options when considering materials for your home’s exterior. Many are first-rate. If you’re looking for materials that are beautiful, durable and versatile in their use for a large variety of exterior applications, natural thin stone veneer might be a surprisingly affordable choice.
Natural thin stone veneer, which has only been widely marketed for about a decade, was created specifically for ease of use in veneering and remodeling construction.
Because its offers beauty and value, more builders and homeowners construct homes using natural thin stone veneer. As home exteriors extend living spaces, the popularity of natural thin stone veneer is increasing. “It opens the door for a lot more people to use natural stone in their project, explains Greg Osterhout, VP of Northern Stone Supply in Oakley, ID.
How Does Thin Stone Veneer Differ from Full Thickness Veneer?
Natural thin stone veneer is cut to replicate its full thickness stone counterpart, from 100% natural quarried stone. Building code requirements for adhered veneer specify the vertical load of the veneer assembly weigh no more than 15 lbs./square foot. Conversely, full thickness stone veneer is typically between 4” – 6” thick and weighs 40-73 lbs./square foot. After cutting, natural thin stone veneer maintains the same durability, low maintenance and aesthetic qualities as the thicker version.
Because of its reduced weight, it has exceptional versatility in use over traditional full-thickness stone, which requires structural support in the form of foundations or support ledges. Natural thin stone veneer requires no additional support and installs, often easily, over existing rigid materials like brick and concrete block. Natural thin stone veneer is a readily available solution for both interior and exterior renovation projects where natural stone is desired but structurally, can’t easily be supported. Although its installation usually doesn’t require a master stone mason like some full thickness stone projects might require, it’s best to use a masonry professional to install the product.
According to Osterhout, a skilled do-it-yourselfer can do the work in many cases. “There is no need for special equipment or tools for installation. You’ll need to learn some basic skills, pay attention to details, and take your time,” he says. The adhesives used to apply and bond natural thin stone veneer are safe to use in homes. It’s important, however, to make certain you use the right product for the project. For example, some natural thin stone veneers do better around water and heat than others.
Additionally, because of its lighter weight, natural thin stone veneer not only requires less professional labor than full thickness veneer, it can cost considerably less to ship, reducing the overall cost of using the product in your projects.

Beauty Meets Versatility with Natural Thin Stone Veneer
The thinness and weight of natural thin stone veneer make it possible to incorporate it in almost any outdoor design project. Common natural thin stone veneer applications include siding, columns, outdoor kitchens, water features, landscaping, garages, entryways and gates. Whatever your decorating desire, there’s probably a natural thin stone veneer to fit.
Natural thin stone veneer is available in a multitude of stone types, styles, textures, cuts and colors and, like full thickness veneer, it retains its natural tones and hues eternally. It’s easy to integrate into existing design schemes or structural features and for builders it’s relatively easy to integrate into design plans. “It can be applied over a wide variety of base substrates and installed in places where it would otherwise be considered impractical,” says Mike Sylvia, Director of Marketing of Champlain Stone in Warrensburg, NY.
There are numerous educational tools available for builders wanting to incorporate the product into their projects. Joe Buechel, VP of Natural Stone Veneers International in Fond du Lac, WI, says, “The speed of the installation is much faster than full veneer. Because it’s a lightweight application, it allows the installer to do it faster.”
Osterhout adds, “Because it doesn’t require additional footings or engineering, the product can be installed on the standard framing leaving options wide open for remodels, retrofits and clients making design changes halfway through projects.
Major Benefits Over Manmade Veneers
Unlike manmade or concrete veneer which comes in a defined and predictable number of patterns and a limited number of molds, natural thin stone veneer allows countless creative and custom patterns. It’s abundantly available and offered in all natural stone types including limestone, granite, bluestone, sandstone, quartzite and others. Without the limitations imposed by concrete veneers, users can freely select a stone that fits their design aesthetic and needs.
It contains no oxide colors, aggregates or other chemicals which mean it doesn’t fade or chip over time. Because it is a natural stone product, it is virtually indestructible, rarely needs repair and is easy to maintain and clean. Even in the rare case when it does chip, its colorful inner beauty shows through – it doesn’t look damaged and chalky like manmade products would. Any imperfection only adds to its character.
“Manmade stone looks its best the day it’s finished and deteriorates over time,” says Osterhout. Natural thin stone veneer is just the opposite,” he continues.” It becomes more beautiful over time.”
In fact, the difference is obvious with most concrete veneer products. “Natural thin stone veneer is much longer lasting and a much greener material that doesn’t off-gas and is minimally constructed, “ Sylvia explains. “It’s like the difference between a cubic zirconia and real diamond,” says Buechel.
Moreover, there’s really little cost-savings using a manmade product. The difference is about $1-2/sq. ft. This is beneficial to both builders and homeowners but builders should consider that “More stone can be installed per ton of stone with natural thin stone veneer,” says Osterhout. That brings the costs down further for builders.
Additionally, because manmade products may require repair or replacement over time, it’s smarter to invest in natural thin stone veneer when you’ll be staying in your residence long term or if you want to increase the resale value.

Natural Thin Stone Veneer Adds Immediate Value
Even a small amount of this product added in the places where buyers most want this feature increases the warmth and elegance of the outdoor space in a home. It also raises resale value on the home. “The addition of natural thin stone veneer adds value to a property and elevates its perception to the viewer,” says Sylvia. “Natural stone is a great way to boost the overall aesthetic,” he continues.
“Developers use it because they can set themselves apart in the marketplace and get a higher sale price for a home,” adds Osterhout. It brings a different feel to the home causing a buyer to make the purchase decision and that means homes turn over quickly.”
Because natural thin stone veneer is 100% natural stone, most buyers seeking the aesthetics of stone prefer it over manmade materials, especially if they’re investing in the home long term. Using high-quality products like natural thin stone veneer, installed properly and applied in the right outdoor spaces, should bring your home’s value up accordingly.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HOME INSPECTIONS AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Home inspections are a visual evaluation of a home from roof to basement. It’s an important step of the home purchase process that alerts buyers of what may need attention before finalizing a contract. Though not required by your mortgage lender or realtor, it is often a highly recommended step to ensure you’re investing in the right property.
How it works? A licensed inspector checks the performance of the home’s roof, driveway, foundation, framing, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. They even go as far as inspecting the general condition of windows, doors, floors, ceilings, and walls. Expect the inspection to last anywhere from two to three hours.
What they cost? The cost of standard home inspections vary depending on market. Plus, more specific and more intensive inspections can be done for a higher cost. These may be worth the investment depending on the age and location of the property. You’ll definitely want to shop around to find the best value for your needs. Find further discussion on that below.
Who’s it for? Now something you may not have known: home inspections are not just for buyers, they’re also beneficial for sellers.
Here’s what you need to know, regardless of which side of the negotiation table you’re on.
Sellers: what to look for before you list
Why should you consider a home inspection if you’re the seller? You can anticipate what an inspector may find and have time to correct it before the buyer’s inspector walks through, assuming they have one. It will also help you complete the seller’s disclosure more accurately.
Buyers: what to look for before you sign
Any concerns from the inspection report can reopen negotiations with the seller. So, it’s a good idea to be a part of the process — join the inspector on the home tour. Follow along where you can and take notes. It’s an opportunity that will let you clearly see what needs attention. You can question how and why — and get suggestions on overall home improvement. Best of all, the inspector will provide you with a complete report of their findings, so you can request repairs from the seller or seller concessions.
Both parties: questions to ask a home inspector
You have many options if you choose to hire a home inspector. Be sure to ask for recommendations from your realtor or mortgage lender, maybe even ask a few of your friends or family members. And always, always, be sure to interview the inspector before hiring them. You’ll want to feel confident in their experience.
Consider these questions when shopping around for inspectors:
Are you focused on residential or commercial properties?
What does the inspection include?
How many home inspections have you done?
How do you keep your expertise up to date?
Can I attend the inspection?
Can I see a sample report?
Keep in mind: home inspections are not all-inclusive. Some areas of the home require a specialist. You may want to consider the following options, depending on where you live:
EIFS – EIFS is an acronym for Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems. It’s also known as synthetic stucco. Synthetic stucco is a popular exterior choice for many, but it must be installed properly to avoid issues. If the EIFS is adhered directly to the substrate by fasteners or mastic, with no drainage plane for water to drain down, expect water to get in. Add in high moisture and you can expect the substrate to rot.
Lead based paint – If you live in — or are looking to buy — a home built before 1978, take advantage of a lead based paint home inspection or risk assessment. If lead is detected, a risk assessor can help you determine if abatement or good maintenance is necessary.
Mold – Mold inspection is an assessment of mold growth in a building. It often includes a questionnaire, visual inspection, and mold testing (as necessary). Depending on the size of your property and the number of mold samples, pricing can vary anywhere from $300 to $3,000.
Radon – Radon is a cancer causing, radioactive gas that seeps through foundation cracks or near electrical outlets and pipes. An estimated 50 percent of homes in Colorado have radon levels higher than the EPA recommendation. Even if you’re not buying in Colorado, the EPA strongly suggests radon testing. Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon. Be ready to mitigate radon if the level is 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher.
Roof certification – Hire a roofing company to understand whether or not the home requires repairs. If it doesn’t, you’ll at least receive an estimated length of time (in years) before the roof needs replacement. Reports are issued on possible movement, condition of materials, soundness of drains and gutters, etc. Upon completion, you’ll receive your roof certification, which is good for two to five years.
Sewer – If you’re buying a home that is 20 years or older, it’s a good idea to invest in a sewer inspection. Local plumbing companies often have contractors who can use a camera to inspect the sewer — looking at the overall condition and if there are any clogs. Fees vary from $85-$300, but it’s a great investment in the event you need to replace the sewer line.
Termites – In many areas of the country, termite and wood infestation reports must be completed before a purchase contract is signed. This is especially true when using government loans like FHA and VA loans, though it can be required with a conventional loan. States where termites are most common include: Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii, California, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, and Tennessee.
Your real estate agent can provide you with a list of common home inspections in your area. Or, you can ask your inspector about recommended specialists who may be able to diagnose some of the above — or other — issues your new home may have.
Let’s not forget, the home buying journey should be enjoyable. Don’t let the fear of a home inspection get the best of you. Though it costs money, anything can be fixed. It’s far more important to learn as much as you can about a home before finalizing a home loan and signing a purchase contract. Keep a rational mind and know that if the to-do list is too long for your standards, it’s okay to keep shopping around for a better fit. Only you can decide what’s worth your time and money before calling a property your dream home.

Participants of Congress were time and again thwarted whilst attempting to research simple data about the National Security Agency (NSA) and the name of the game FISA court docket which authorizes its activities, files supplied with the aid of two Residence Individuals reveal.
From the start of the NSA controversy, the Agency’s defenders have insisted that Congress is aware about the disclosed programs and exercises robust supervision over them. “These packages are issue to congressional oversight and congressional reauthorization and congressional debate,” President Obama said the day after the first story on NSA bulk series of smartphone facts turned into posted on this space. “And if there are Contributors of Congress who sense in another way, then they ought to speak up.”
Congress
however Contributors of Congress, together with the ones in Obama’s celebration, have flatly denied knowing approximately them. On MSNBC on Wednesday night time, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Ct) was requested by using host Chris Hayes: “How a good deal are you getting to know about what the government which you are charged with overseeing and retaining responsible is doing from the newspaper and how much of this do you know?” The Senator’s respond: A city with out a library is sort of a graveyard.” the ones were the phrases that Malala Yousafzai, the inspirational Pakistani girls’s rights activist, used to open Birmingham’s new £189m library this month. A poignant announcement, considering the persevering with tide of public library closures announced recently.
To paraphrase a well-known scene from Monty Python’s Life of Brian, what do libraries do for us? Well, they introduce many into the arena of literacy and studying and help to make it a lifelong habit; they equalise; they train empathy and assist us to find out about Every Different; they hold our cultural history; they protect our right to recognize and to study; they build groups; they enhance and improve us as a state; they empower us as individuals. I personally would not have my lifelong ardour for literature, would by no means have emerge as a author and simply wouldn’t be the current kid’s laureate if it hadn’t been for journeying my neighborhood library as a child.
At the same time as I respect that in Those austere times all nearby government are in search of to make financial savings, there’s honestly a strong argument for library services, and specifically children’s library services, to be ringfenced against such cuts. Indeed, the 1964 Libraries Act states that each authority must provide a “complete and efficient” library carrier, and that the government’s duty is to investigate while there are extreme complaints that this isn’t the case. But this authorities has now not as soon as visible fit to intrude, now not even in Gloucestershire, wherein nearly half of the libraries had been scheduled for closure, and Herefordshire, wherein swingeing cuts to the general public library provider were first of all proposed.
current figures from Public Libraries News display that almost one zero five United kingdom libraries have both been closed or left neighborhood authority manage due to the fact that April 2012.
Closing week Sheffield’s city council announced plans to preserve only 12 of its 28 libraries open, until network groups come ahead to run them. within the beyond few weeks Moray council has voted to close seven out of 15 branches. Sefton libraries are due to close some of their branches. now not to say the Lincolnshire libraries’ cuts which have visible further public outcry, with plans proposed to hold just 15 out of 47 libraries open
In August, while there was a hazard of Jane Austen’s ring leaving the country, the tradition minister Ed Vaizey turned into short to intervene with a transient export bar as the ring is deemed to be a “national treasure” that should be “stored for the kingdom”. I’d argue that our public libraries are simply as an awful lot of a national treasure as Jane Austen’s ring and but I’ve visible no such outrage from Vaizey at their closure.
In these times of increasing authorities emphasis on children’s analyzing and their resultant instructional attainment, simply the closure of public libraries, reduced e book spend, confined beginning hours and the compulsory redundancy of librarians have had an immediate and bad effect in this aspiration? Most effective closing week the Institute of Schooling launched a study that gave yet more evidence that reading for pride between the a long time of 10 and sixteen improves vocabulary and boosts attainment in spelling, and also maths. studying changed into found to be even more essential for children’s cognitive improvement at secondary college than the affect of their mother and father.
Libraries are the great literacy aid we have. For kids they provide an equaliser that lets in everyone access to books, tale-telling periods, homework clubs; expert librarians who supply non-partisan help and recommendation concerning books; and warm and safe environments within which to find out and discover the sector of literature. Libraries switch kids on to a love of analyzing, with all the resulting advantages, and might make them lifelong readers. Without them, literacy can also more and more emerge as the province of the fortunate few, rather than the birthright of every person.
• This newsletter was amended on 23 September 2013. An earlier version said that Medway council had confirmed closure of 7 out of 15 branches. Medway has no plans to shut any of its 16 libraries. The item additionally stated swingeing cuts to the library provider have been first of all proposed in Hertfordshire. That reference need to had been to Herefordshire.
