I think the kookaburra nursery rhyme you're thinking of is probably Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gumtree - its originally from 1932 (written by Marion Sinclair) and its super common to hear in Australia. I didn't know it was in Barney though, it's always cool to see Australian stuff show up in international kids media

first ship ever: i know in my heart there had to be some obscure shoujo manga ship that came before this but haruhi/tamaki is the earliest one that comes to mind

last song: heartache here by bob barrick and joshua lee turner!! the video for this song on josh turner’s youtube page is really sweet. check it out if you get the chance, sound of the summer, etc.

last movie: oh god questions like this always make me realize how rarely i watch movies. the last one i saw in theatres was barbie but i also watched httyd2 with my mom before i moved

currently reading: ok i’m reading “was it even abuse” by emma rose byham which is kind of a downer answer but nevertheless i mention it because it’s very very good. the more fun answer is i was supposed to be reading ocean’s echo but failed to do so before i had to leave halifax and thus return it to the library, so as soon as i get a library card here that’s next!

currently watching: i’m guessing this means tv shows in which case the answer is… nothing. these questions are making me look like i’ve never consumed media in my life but in my defense there’s no video games question so just to let you know i am playing harvestella

currently consuming: grapes & broccoli & cauliflower but don’t be fooled. you’ve caught me at an uncharacteristically nutritious moment

Zyxyz’s Comprehensive Fanfic Rec List: 11/22 Update

A bit less than eight years ago, I created a simple Word document to list my favorite fanfiction, so that if I wanted to reread something I could easily find it again. Five years ago today, I uploaded it as a proper multifandom rec list, having realized how huge the scale of it had gotten and its potential as more than just a reference for my own use. And now, it’s time for the semiannual public version update once again, bringing the uploaded file up-to-date with my continuously-updated personal copy.

With this expansion, the list goes from 2,440 to 2,578 total fics, from 118 to 122 fandoms represented, and from ~49.6 million to over 53.4 million words. (There’s a stats section that goes into more detail on such things at the end of the list document, if you’re interested.)
