I love the depth and thought you put into Hux to really flesh him out as a character. He has long been one of my favourite characters and I do so love seeing my little General Gingersnap getting some attention.
ahhhh hi omg thank you so so so much!! ☺️☺️ it truly means so much to hear this (and to hear from other folks who love him too!) 🥰🥰
I spend a lot (and I meant A LOT) of time thinking about this man, so I'm just thrilled to hear that you enjoy my (sometimes unhinged) ramblings about him! 🧡🧡
and if you ever have thoughts you want to share or if there's stuff you'd like to hear about him from me, please feel free to reach out! I adore talking about my special little guy with others who also love him! ☺️💕

omg thank you so much for this incredible and thoughtful response!! and it was def very coherent!! ☺️ (it was me who sent the ask btw, I just didn't have my dedicated Hux blog set up yet lmao so I couldn't tag it in my original ask lol)
okay your brilliant idea about him knowing that Arkanis was damp because he remembers having to adjust to how dry Eclipse was has me like 🥺😢😭 noooo bby armie he's gonna need a humidifier or else he's gonna get nosebleeds 😭😭
also I really like how within your conception of the planet of origin situation within the fo, Hux sits in sort of a weird liminal spot. like, he doesn't have the connection to his home planet that some of the ex-imperials do, but he's also not one of the new generation who have pretty much only known life aboard star destroyers. which I feel like is very apt for him as a character in a lot of ways that I am too tired to fully articulate rn lmao
but thank you so much again for your lovely response and for not minding my very long and probably way-too-specific question! ☺️
I'm slowly building my little Hux blog with lots of headcanons and thoughts and whatnot, so please excuse my unhinged ramblings on your amazing and thought-provoking posts! 😅
hi!! first, i want to say i lovelovelove your blog and all your incredible hux/fo thoughts!!!! your insights are so good and i love thinking about sort of daily life stuff in the fo since there’s just snippets here and there in canon and it’s so interesting to conceptualize how an organization like that would function and how people would behave and react within it
second, idk if i’m too late to the game on sending asks for hcs, but i’ve been really pondering your ideas about planet of origin identity stuff within the fo. i totally agree that it probably creates a generational divide within the fo and i think about how it would feel for those young fo officers who are just sort of…… placeless. like, esp the ones who grew up on star destroyers (i think it says in one of the guides that they literally think of the ships as their homes which is just kinda like… a little sad for them?). but anyway enough of my rambling about that — what do you think hux’s relationship to arkanis is in a personal sense? i’m absolutely with you that i don’t think he would really identify as Being From Arkanis, and that the fo is his “planet of origin.” but i just think about how he must have these fleeting, blurry memories of it, and it’s wet and messy and green/grey/blue and very different than the sterile, mostly black ships of the fo. how — if at all — do you think he conceives of it as an adult? does he think of it at all? does it haunt him just the tiniest bit (even if he won’t admit it to himself)?
haha okay sorry for the obnoxiously long ask! and no worries if this is like way too specific and you don’t want to answer it — i totally understand!
thank you again for your amazing blog!! ☺️
"obnoxiously long" bro this is an absolute dream ask. especially because i have been thinkin about this specific topic lately 🔥
i like to imagine hux having conflicting feelings about arkanis. it's common for adults who had traumatic childhoods to forget their early childhood altogether, so i've always headcanoned that hux barely has any memories of arkanis and they're all extremely vague and impersonal (also for what it's worth i hc that he never knew his mother and therefore there aren't any specific people in his life he can tie back to the planet besides brendol who also went to the FO).
he knows he was born there. he knows he lived there for some time. he knows that the air was humid because he can remember having to adjust to it being so dry on the eclipse, but he's not sure if he remembers what the rain felt like or if he's just imagining how it must feel like.
he has a lot of political opinions about empress leeya and the nobility and the republic siege, but are those opinions strong because he still has some emotional attachment to arkanis or because the situation there is fucked up enough to elicit a strong reaction? hux is a very emotional and political person, after all.
i also think that being the galactic-scale equivalent to a stateless person for so long must influence how patriotic hux is about the first order. the empire dissolved in 5 ABY and the first order was Officially formed in 21 ABY. for hux, that's 16 years of floating around the unknown regions with the closest thing he has to a "people" being an army that doesn't belong to any state.
when that vague assembly of imperial holdout factions united as an independent space nation i like to imagine this must have been a hell of an emotional moment for hux. especially since he had to be rescued from arkanis because of the war. from his perspective the war / the republic made him stateless, the imperial remnant / first order gave him a home.
i definitely can't see him participating in any particularly arkanisian cultural practices; the first order must be unified and uniform. but i think this is easier for him some days than others. sometimes he has to consciously remind himself that the eclipse is his hometown and not the imperial outpost on arkanis.
anyway i think this is like. half-coherent at best but yeah hux's first order patriotism is a subject i think about too much

Luke sat down before he reached for the buzzer on his comlink to summon Lord Vader. Standing still exhausted him and showcasing his weakness would do him no good. Not when he was on thin ice already, outright testing Vader’s proclaimed loyalty.
Set in this Luke Palpatine AU.
The now-necessary masterpost is here!
Vader came quickly, and without hesitation. Of course he did. He’d argued about Luke sending him to the other side of the vast palace in the first place, citing assassination attempts and protection and advice, but Luke was not taking Vader’s advice. He had no idea why the man hadn’t already slaughtered him and seized his crown, public relations be damned.
It wasn’t like Vader had a history of caring about them, after all. Luke’s father had been the only one who could keep him in line.
When there was a firm knock on the door, that crown sat heavy on his head as he lifted his chin to call, “Come in.” The Rebel attack on the Imperial cruiser had left shrapnel embedded all down his back and the backs of his legs. It’d missed his spine, mercifully, but the injuries and the long days of surgery to extract them had taken their toll, and his neck twinged with the weight of that thin gold circlet.
He understood why he had to wear it. He really did. He was ridiculously young for this, to sit in meetings and look Lord Vader in the eye and make decisions that would affect the entire galaxy; people needed to be able to see the Emperor in him.
Even if Luke couldn’t see it himself.
His father had had a commanding presence. He could freeze you in place; make you want, with every inch of yourself, to please him; rule with the mercy needed for manipulation and also the force needed for obedience.
Luke was weak, and soft, and useless. His father had been right.
Vader, in the few training sessions his father had forced him to give, had been right.
So Luke had to take this course of action, because he had no idea why Vader strode into the room and knelt to him even without the tension and reluctance there had always been when he’d knelt to Luke’s father. Vader had despised him, for so long. Why—
“My emperor,” Vader said smoothly.
Luke swallowed. He didn’t like having Vader tower over him—especially when he was sitting down and couldn’t stand up—but he liked seeing such a large man kneeling to him even less. “Rise,” he said softly. Vader did so, but hesitantly—as if he could hear the uncertainty in Luke’s voice.
Sense it in the Force.
He’d always been able to batter down Luke’s shields with ease.
Luke took in a few deep breaths, and reached for one of the datapads stacked high on his desk. There were so many to go through, all with some pointless bickering or bureaucracy; he was sure his father hadn’t handled them on his own, had probably delegated them to Amedda and various aides, but until the transfer of power was complete and his authority consolidated, he couldn’t afford to trust anyone to handle petty things for him. (It didn’t help that Vader had had Amedda and several others executed while he was in the medbay, for killing Luke’s father.)
At least, he was pretty sure that was what would be advised—what Nova would advise. And he trusted his old nursemaid more than anyone.
He wished she would come back.
He used his grip on the datapad to steady his hands and cut straight to the point: “I need you to go to Eriadu, Lord Vader.”
As expected, Vader immediately balked at that. If he was resistant to being on the other side of the palace to Luke—
“Your Majesty, Eriadu is in the Outer Rim.”
“I am aware of that, Lord Vader.” Luke raised an imperious eyebrow, the only expression he allowed on his face. He had never made his father proud, but he could always at least strive to make him satisfied with Luke’s conduct. “Grand Moff Tarkin vanished off to his homeworld the moment the coronation was complete, and he was one of the most powerful officials in my father’s empire.” Vader tensed at that; it was expected, so Luke didn’t bother to address it. He’d calculated that Tarkin was the most likely person for Vader to ally with if he wanted the throne for himself—they’d worked together often and successfully—so this… this was a test of loyalty.
Destroy his aspiring ally, and consolidate Luke’s power. Obey Luke, as he’d sworn to, and give up his constant monopoly over his immediate personal space.
“Tarkin has control over a great many of my father’s pet projects. I believe he will bring them to bear against my government if I ever threaten his standing in the elite, and I will not suffer such a challenge. I want you to eliminate him.”
Vader was silent for a very, very long time. Luke was about to snap did you not swear to obey me? when he growled, “Project Stardust.”
Luke didn’t know what that was. He did know that it would be a terrible idea to admit that. “Exactly. If you truly want to serve me, Lord Vader, I need you to fulfil this task.”
“I cannot leave you vulnerable, my emperor.”
“I am sending a communiqué to my old nursemaid and bodyguard. Hopefully she will return to assist me with certain things.” With everything, Force, he’d never needed Nova so badly.
She’d been the only one who was nice to him, she’d been his governess and raised him since his father had adopted him, she’d protected him and reassured him when he’d confided in her. She’d been his mother in all that mattered, and he loved her.
He would understand if she didn’t want to come back—she’d left the palace on suspicion of treason—but he’d already had the charges dropped, and he hoped…
“Sabé,” Vader rumbled.
Luke tensed. “Her name is Nova.”
“Her real name was Sabé—one of your birth mother’s handmaidens.” Luke fought the urge to stare at that; how did Vader know, and why would he drop that knowledge so flippantly? “I recognised her the moment she applied for the job. At the same, I didn’t understand why she did so. I do now.”
Luke didn’t have the faintest idea what that was supposed to mean.
“If Tarkin intends to bring his projects to bear against you, action needs to be taken, and taken quickly,” Vader continued. Luke narrowed his eyes at him minutely. “I will of course you as you bid—but please, Your Majesty, allow me to stay to protect you until Sabé returns to the palace.”
So he was willing to leave Luke with a bodyguard of Luke’s choice—or rather, someone Luke had chosen that he knew—but not alone. At least, not alone with his father’s old followers and Inquisitors.
Interesting.
“Very well, Lord Vader.” Luke allowed himself a sigh, then reached for the next datapad. There were always more to take care of. “I will consider your request.”
His father had taught him that: always make sure you hold the cards in your dealings with people. Never allow them to feel in control, unless you plan to take advantage of it. To dominate, make sure they know you dominate.
Luke had never been very good at domination.
“Now, I believe this military insurgency in Imperial City is under your jurisdiction to deal with…”
Send me the first sentence of a fanfic and I’ll write you the next five few!
Or, since I’m getting really invested in this AU and have a whole lot of ideas that I hope will see the light of day, send me the first sentence of a scene that could fit into it and give me an excuse to continue!

ahhhhhhh thank you so much for this super sweet response!! 🥰🥰 I'm the person who sent the ask, but since I sent that message I have made this dedicated Hux blog (because I am a little deranged about this man lmao)
in part, I was super inspired by the way you catalogue and archive the information you've collected, so I hope you don't mind that I've done something similar ☺️ (I loooooooove organization and things were just getting too chaotic on my general fandom blog)
and I totally agree with your assessment! it feels like you do really have to pull at all these different threads to get a fuller picture of Hux's character, and I know that even as a long-time Hux enjoyer I'm not familiar with every piece of canon about him
and omg that is such an amazing goal to go through all the media and collect and archive things as you go! def no pressure at all because I know that takes so much time, but just know I'm along for the ride! 🫡
thank you again for all the amazing work you're doing!! 🧡🧡
hello hi!! omg I just discovered your blog and I can't believe that I hadn't really known about it before?? I think maybe I had seen some of your posts but like hadn't gone to the source?? (ngl I've been here for a couple years and I'm still not great at using tumblr lmao 😅) ANYWAY I am so glad that I finally did bc holy shit your blog is amazing!!!!!!
I'm honestly just starting to scroll though, but it's so fantastic how much canon material you've archived from various sources! I'm always looking for new Hux-adjacent material and you have so much here I'm in awe! (also I've always liked Mitaka too but I think I'm now discovering a serious interest in him bc of the stuff you've posted about him!)
I've been a Hux girlie (gender neutral) since I saw tlj in theaters and tbh he's my og Special Little Guy. even when I rotate through other interests, I come back around to him, and it's so cool to see that there's other folks still out there who also like the character since it feels like a bit of the fandom has kind of faded (which I totally get)
um anyway sorry for this long and rambling message 😅 I just wanted to let you know how cool your blog is and that I'll probably be liking and reblogging a bunch of stuff in the next couple days so I deeply apologize if I spam your notifs (and if you would prefer I don't do that also just let me know!)
thank you so much for all the info and headcanons and meta and everything that you've brought together here! ☺️💕
(oh and this is @charlottesbookclub lol I just can't send asks from there bc it's not my main so if you see that account interacting that's me lol)
🥹 this is nicest thing you could possibly ever say to me
I'm so happy someone else is getting enjoyment out of the stuff I post! I have a mission to bring these snippets of canon out into the open because I think there's so much to Hux's character that isn't present/obvious in the movies, and thus a majority of it will be missed by casual fans. There's many moving parts to Hux's life that get glanced over but are so integral to him — Sloane, Brendol, Armitage's childhood, the Empire, the rise and fall of the First Order, the state of the Galaxy's economy, politics, technology...
I want everyone to see that Hux isn't just the 'haha funny evil hotheaded military man' that the movies present, but a wonderfully deep, tragic character as a whole — even with all the flaws of sequel-trilogy writing. And that's why we love him.
And I'm only barely just started. My "to-read" list is a bit ridiculous and I'm a chronically slow reader. My dream is to one day somehow have some sort of comprehensive post of all of Hux's core traits and history, but that's far off....
No problem with like/reblog spamming 😊
