Week #24
162. The Anthology: A book publisher from Muravey. They produce books from various different ants authors, who all talk about supposed holistic truth. People like to crossreference these books, in order to figure out any completely accidental patterns that are somehow predict events correctly.
163. Old Geysers Institute: A geyser research institute of unctuants. They are fascinated by the geysers of Azure Court, with them being completely disconnected from all kinds of volcanic activity. They figured out its spots where water creatures jump out of to survey the dryland, but they haven't yet figured out why.
164. The Sunset Illuminators: A slightly pyramidical apartment block with a small tower on top. In the tower lives a group of Thoatl illuminators, who ornately illustrate the recent events in someone's life in their codexes, for a fee. Sometimes they draw superhero comics that allegorically tell the future.
165. An Empty Plot: A completely empty plot. One day, Myrmix Industries will build a shining library, as indicated by the posters on the fence. They says that the future will be here, and knowledge will be spread to all, once they collate all the books they need.
166. Geopardry: A gameshow studio. The players have to prove their knowledge on mineral formations, or they will be thrown into a pit of slime. But its actually geologically interesting imported slime, so many folks lose on purpose to nab a sample.
167. Axe A Question: A stand up trivia club. This is like a standup comedy club, except the person on stage is here to answer the trivia questions of the audience. Don't try to heckle them with silly questions, for you might get a serious answer you didn't want to hear.
168. The Winter Palace: A building created in the image of a palace from Muravey. The tropical weather and flore rather clash with its decorations, both internal and external, but the snooty Firstborn really appreciate the attention to detail. Rumour has it, somewhere deep, its full of secrets from before the fall of the united Muravey Empire.

Tan Tan Tanuki
The Queen and Knight anthologies are pretty well known among Geass fans, but there’s more comic anthologies that are also “official” (not drawn by the official staff, but which have the Sunrise/Project Geass copyright and were sold in places that don’t sell doujinshi). For the R2 series there’s Comic Anthology Zero, which at least had scans floating around back when the Code Geass livejournal community was a thing, and then also the Noir-Blanc-Rouge-Azure-Irise set of books, whose existence I’ve barely ever seen acknowledged, even among Japanese fans. Nonetheless, these types of not-canon-but-still-officially-approved stories have always been the kind of content that makes me the happiest, so I want to help make them a little bit more well-known! As mentioned, there’s 5 books, with lots of Rolo overall, so it’s hard to choose just one story to translate, but for now I’ve (poorly) scanned one found in Azure:
Tumblr media
Rolo: Brother, there’s something I didn’t understand during the lesson we just had. Can you teach me? Notebook title: Mathemathics Lelouch (not seen): What is it? Rolo (not seen): It’s this part here... Lelouch (thinking): Suzaku, I see. (comment outside the text bubble) Here you apply this and... Rolo (comment outside the text bubble): Ah, right. Lelouch: You are a fast learner, Rolo. As expected from my little brother.  Rolo: Brother. Comment about Lelouch’s words: Praises himself while pretending to praise Rolo Lelouch (thinking): How’s that, Suzaku? No matter how you look at it, we’re just normal brothers who get along!
Tumblr media
Lelouch (thinking): There’s nothing to be suspicious of! Lelouch: Oh Suzaku, you were there? What is it? You are just standing around. Suzaku: Eh? Yeah... (next panel, not seen) Could I borrow Rolo for a moment? Lelouch (not seen): Rolo? (next panel) That’s fine, but don’t forget to return him, okay? He’s my precious little brother. (TN: Sand comes out of his mouth, which is based on the expression “so sweet you vomit sand,” originating from “so sweet you vomit sugar.” Meaning he finds his own words too cheesy)  Rolo: Brother. Suzaku: I know. I’ll return him right away. Rolo (formal speech): So. Is there anything you want? Suzaku: ...
Tumblr media
Suzaku: No... Well...  (outside text bubble) How should I express it... Um... You look genuinely happy when you are with Lelouch. Are you betraying us or something? Comment pointing at Suzaku: Guy with no skills to elicit information indirectly Rolo/Lelouch (thinking): Completely direct!! Suzaku: Your behavior doesn’t seem like acting, so... Lelouch (thinking): Darn it! To think it’d be suspicious from that angle...! (outside the text bubble) Now that I won him over it backfires on me Rolo (formal speech): And here I was wondering what you were going to say... Him and I are brothers who are close, are we not? So does that not mean that it is only natural for me to be happy around Brother? In order not to trigger his memories coming back, it is better that I act in a way that does not feel strange, is that correct? Suzaku: Ah, yeah, um... Rolo (formal speech): So about my acting skills that are so good they do not even seem like acting, if anything I would think that you should praise them.  Lelouch (thinking): Good one, Rolo!
Tumblr media
Rolo: In other words, the more natural it looks, the better I am carrying out the mission. Suzaku: I-I see. Sorry for doubting you. Lelouch (thinking): Good thing the guy's perceptive at the oddest times but slow when it comes to what’s important... Rolo: Speaking of which, I would like to make it look even more like real brothers. What kind of things do brothers usually do? Lelouch (thinking): Hm? Suzaku: Eh? Mm, well... Being together all the time, for example? Rolo: We already do that. Suzaku: Getting help with studies and such? Rolo: I said we already do that. You saw it just a moment ago. (next panel, not seen) Is there nothing else? Suzaku (not seen): Something else, um... Ah! (next panel) For example, wearing matching outfits, taking a bath together, or sleeping together? Rolo (outside text bubble): Oh, so they do that Suzaku (outside text bubble): Sounds like getting along, doesn’t it? Lelouch: Wait a moment! What kind of brothers are those!! (outside text bubble) Like I’d do that! (next panel) I came here worried since you were taking so long to return. Would you not indoctrinate my dear little brother with wrong ideas of what brothers are like? (outside text bubble) What if he now wants to do those things!
Tumblr media
Suzaku: Well... then what kind of things do *real brothers* do? Lelouch (thinking): Tch...! How could Suzaku come up with such a good comeback... Even though I have a little sister, I have no idea about little brothers! What’s the natural thing to do? Paper folding...? Two men doing that would be too dull! Reading him a book? ... But it’s not like he’s a child. What do brothers do? Something natural for brothers to do... That’s it! (next panel) Playing catch? Suzaku: Eh. You? Comment in square textbox: Unnaturalness that predates the whole brothers thing Lelouch: I... I can do it too! Something like playing catch! Suzaku: Really...? Comment pointing at Suzaku: Suspicious look in more ways than one Lelouch: Let’s go, Rolo. Rolo: Y... Yeah.
Tumblr media
Suzaku (no text bubble): Yeah. As expected. Lelouch: Haha... I overdid it trying to show off since Suzaku is looking. It’s actually like this. Kanji above the arrow: Short distance Rolo (outside text bubble): Playing catch with Brother... ♥ Suzaku: This is clearly unnatural, right? Lelouch: What are you talking about. We always play catch like this, right Rolo? Rolo: Yeah, Brother Suzaku: That’s what you say, but you actually haven’t played catch before, have you? Do you understand, Lelouch? To play catch...
Tumblr media
Suzaku: Your distance has to be at the very least this much. Comment next to Suzaku: Completely serious  Lelouch: Hey wait, you moving lack of common sense! (TN: I’m not 100% sure if that’s the right translation but it should at least be pretty similar) (next panel) Who plays catch like that? If you are trying to practice throwing a ball to home... Suzaku: Why didn’t you catch it? Lelouch. Lelouch: As if I could!! And don’t come back from such a distance in an instant without even gasping for breath!! Villetta: Which one is more unnatural you ask...?
Tumblr media
Villetta: I wouldn’t call any of that “playing catch,” but... Suzaku (outside text bubble): Eh?! Lelouch (outside text bubble): Just realize it already that when it comes to physical strength what’s common sense to you is insane to others Villetta: But in so far as you can at least catch the ball in Lelouch’s version, that one is the least bad, don’t you think? (outside text bubble) Honestly, not that there is much difference between the two Lelouch: Thank you, *teacher*. Villetta: Don’t mention it, instead go fix the mess you created. The three of you. Lelouch: Eh? No, that was Suzaku's- Villetta: It’s collective responsibility, you idiot. Rolo: Brother! I bought matching ones. Will you wear it? Lelouch (outside text bubble): I knew it...  (next panel, outside text bubble): That’s wrong! You’re mistaken, Rolo!! Rolo (outside text bubble) : Brother, you don’t like it? Suzaku (outside text bubble) : You’ll wear it, right, Lelouch? Since you are *brothers* Villetta (thinking): In this battle of foxes trying to outfox each other, the biggest winner is probably Rolo... END

Finally, here’s some Dimilix angst written for King & Aegis, the Dimilix comic and fic anthology! Spoilers for post-time-skip Azure Moon!
————————————————————
Fandom: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Title: Circadian
Rating: T
Characters: Dimitri, Felix
————————————————————
Felix’s silhouette is a stain on a sky that’s colored like a battlefield. To Dimitri, it’s a Felix-shaped hole punched through the red of his beating heart. He feels it intensely tonight, the loss of him. Rodrigue died this week, was buried today, but Felix has been gone for so much longer.
Rodrigue. Dimitri scrubs at his eye, but even the one that’s gone still leaks tears. He covers them both with his arm and tries to compose himself.
Rodrigue is dead. Rodrigue is dead because of him.  Everyone  is dead because of him. It’s another ghost to haunt him.
Somehow, he does it—composes himself. Enough to talk, at least. He needs to talk to Felix. He doesn’t know how to approach him. Felix has been in the graveyard for an hour. At least, that’s how long Dimitri’s been watching him, tucked away against the side of the monastery because he’s too afraid to show himself. Felix has probably been here even longer than that; he disappeared immediately after dinner without eating a thing.
Sundown is fleeting, and darkness crawls in from overhead. They can’t stay out here all night. Not with all these ghosts.

Bookshelf Briefs 5/28/20
Dr. STONE, Vol. 11 | By Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi | Viz Media – Balloons! Yes, Dr. STONE is taking it upon itself to do something it does best, which is show off the gorgeous vistas of this not-really-that-explored future Japan it takes place in. And that means hot air balloons. It also means speedboats! But alas, just because Senku is a scientist does not mean he can cook. So they use some of the last remaining fluid to un-stone a butler-cum-chef-cum-everything, Francois, who is flamboyant and also a lot of fun. There’s actually some really good humor in this volume as well, be it the reporter getting her camera and its undercutting right afterwards, or Senku’s Einstein impersonation. This remains one of the essential Jump titles. – Sean Gaffney
Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth Is a Modern City!, Vol. 2 | By Rui Tsukiyo and Hideaki Yoshikawa | Seven Seas – After wrapping up the cliffhanger from the first volume (he names his first monster girl, which gives her the power-up (and bust expansion) she needs to win), the cast gets down to the nitty-gritty of what he wants to do: build a city, not a dungeon, which feeds on positive emotions. Of course, there are a few problems. Location, labor costs, the neighboring demon lords, and of course Marcho’s impending death, which she seems to have accepted more than Procel has. This remains sort of mid-tier manga—not interesting enough to stand out, but the pages turn easily, and you could do worse. Also, brilliant pun for the back-cover blurb. – Sean Gaffney
Éclair Blanche: A Girls’ Love Anthology That Resonates in Your Heart | By Various Artists | Yen Press – The second of the Éclair anthologies to come out over here, this one seems to focus more attention on love that is already in bloom when the story begins than love that we see the start of. There’s a nice mix of funny, heartwarming, sad, and generally melancholic. Some highlights are “Azalea Corner,” about a minion’s crush on the arrogant ojou she follows; “The Unemployed Woman and the High School Girl,” which should be awful but is by Canno so is cute instead; and “That Summer Won’t Come Again,” about a girl trapped in her sister’s past who bonds with a senpai and learns to swim again. There’s good and not-so-good here, but overall well worth buying. – Sean Gaffney
Éclair Blanche: A Girls’ Love Anthology That Resonates in Your Heart | By Various Artists | Yen Press – This is the second Éclair anthology, but aside from two continuations, all the stories here are new. The quality varies, and it seems the better stories are in the front. The first story, Fly’s “Flowers in a Storm,” sets the tone for bittersweet, ambiguous endings with the tale of a first kiss that comes too late. There are also several stories about unrequited love for a friend who loves someone else, be it another girl, an idol, or a guy. Kabocha’s “Though Summer Won’t Come Again” is a standout, about a girl who assumes the senpai she’s developed feelings for prefers her older sister, as everyone else seems to. Unfortunately, I found the stories toward the end of the volume to be less enjoyable, particularly the final one, which includes the most awkward teacher-student embrace I have ever seen. Still, I will read the next installment when it comes out! – Michelle Smith
I Didn’t Mean to Fall in Love | By Minta Suzumaru | Futekiya (digital only) – Yoshino Kiritani is a beautiful 30-year-old salaryman who happens to be both gay and a virgin. With no relationship prospects on the horizon and wanting to finally have sex, he goes to a gay bar, meets a charismatic college student named Rou, and sleeps with him. The back-and-forth that follows between these two guys is so well done. Rou is a notorious playboy with a hot-and-cold routine he has employed many times to manipulate his conquests into falling for him and confessing their feelings. He tries this on Yoshino, even though he’s actually serious about him, but it doesn’t work. Self-effacing Yoshino genuinely thinks Rou wants nothing more to do with him, forcing Rou to face the seriously scary prospect of rejection by declaring his feelings first. There are a few explicit scenes, but they serve the characters and story well. Highly recommended! – Michelle Smith
Love Me, Love Me Not, Vol. 2 | By Io Sakisaka | Viz Media – First of all, a word of advice to the author: don’t sink people’s ships in your author’s notes, OK? Secondly, this continues to have the strengths of Io Sakisaka titles—it gets teenage love in a good way, has characters who are likeable but clearly flawed, shows gradual character growth, and has clean, easy-to-follow art. She’s still trying to balance out the idealistic girl with the realistic girl, though it may be leaning towards the former. Sadly, it also contains what’s always been one of this author’s big weaknesses to me—I like her series but never love them. Each volume is fun to read and I’d call it good, but it’s never going to be tops in my favorite shoujo manga lists. It’s not life-changing the way a Yona of the Dawn is. – Sean Gaffney
Ping Pong, Vol. 1 | By Taiyo Matsumoto | Viz Media – Ever since Matsumoto was a guest at TCAF in 2013 and spoke in depth about the series, its development, and how it fit into his overall career, I’ve been desperately wanting to read Ping Pong in English. When the excellent anime adaptation came and went soon after and the original manga still hadn’t been licensed, I didn’t expect that we’d ever see it translated. But it is actually here! The first of two beautifully designed omnibus volumes. And I am absolutely in love with Matsumoto’s Ping Pong. Ostensibly a high school sports manga, Ping Pong spends very little time explaining the ins and outs of the game even though table tennis is essentially omnipresent; instead, the series devotes its attention almost entirely to the characters themselves. With strong psychological elements, in part the work’s themes explore talent, motivation, and self-determination, all supported by Matsumoto’s distinctive and spectacularly dynamic and expressive artwork. – Ash Brown
Prince Freya, Vol. 1 | By Keiko Ishihara | VIZ Media – The land of Tyr is threatened by Sigurd, the empire to the north. Our “wimpy and weak” heroine, Freya, happens to be the spitting image of Prince Edvard, who’s just been poisoned by Sigurd, and so takes on the role of impersonating him to protect her country. Alas, Freya’s performance as Edvard (and characterization in general) is inconsistent and in a way that doesn’t seem intentional on the mangaka’s part. Sometimes she boldly and capably takes action, sometimes she just cries. In my notes I wrote, “This ain’t no Basara,” prompted by a panel in which Freya is making an extremely insipid face because of something sappy her love interest has just said, but then something super dramatic and unexpected occurs and… well, now I’m cautiously on board. It may turn out to be fluffier than I would like, but I will at least give it a couple more volumes. – Michelle Smith
The Quintessential Quintuplets, Vol. 9 | By Negi Haruba | Kodansha Comics – There’s less swapping in this one, but the one time there is a swap it blows the reader out of the water. I suspect Ichika’s popularity took a nosedive after this volume, as her ideal of “all’s fair in love and war” is taken to a somewhat cruel conclusion. She’s not even the thirstiest of the quints, as both Nino and Miku are trying to make their feelings for Futaro as clear to him as possible. Meanwhile, Yotsuba is trying the opposite tactic, saying that she’ll support whichever sister that isn’t her he picks, showing off a core of self-deprecation that we’ve seen before, but never to this level. And then there’s Itsuki, who seems to have forgotten she was supposed to be first girl. Great harem antics. – Sean Gaffney
Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, Vol. 9 | By Yu Tomofuji | Yen Press – I missed reviewing the eighth volume of this, for some reason; I’m not sure why. It continues to be quietly sweet, with a heroine who perhaps leans a little too much towards “can save everyone by the sheer power of being really nice.” That said, nice can only go so far, and when she discovers a country that’s being blackmailed into slavery, nice becomes determined and fierce. There’s also some tortured romance at the start—the king’s chief bodyguard and the princess’s attendant clearly are headed towards each other, but there are a few steps back here before we can move forward once more. I admit that I’d likely enjoy this more without its central conceit of animal people, but oh well. – Sean Gaffney
Snow White with the Red Hair, Vol. 7 | By Sorata Akiduki | Viz Media – I admit I was a bit more surprised than Shirayuki was at the identity of the leader of the Lions of the Mountain. That said, it does remind us that Shirayuki is another one of those great “shoujo heroines who underreacts to everything,” which can be quite amusing when done right. That said, this volume is when the series transitioned from the quarterly DX to the main LaLa magazine, and as such much of the middle part is taken up with introducing new readers to the main cast and the situation. This includes an amusing “personality reversal” chapter where Mitsuhide starts acting like a chivalrous knight. the book ends with the implication that their love is going public. How will that go? Great shoujo. – Sean Gaffney
Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina, Vol. 1 | By Jougi Shiraishi, Itsuki Nanao, and Azure | Square Enix – This is a manga adaptation of the first fourth or so of the light novel, and it’s a very good adaptation. I will admit that Elaina is a lot more expressive than I was expecting… her delivery in the novels is somewhat cool… but it makes sense given the manga’s visual medium, and she’s cute. This volume shows off what we’re going to get from now on: some cute fluffy stories, some melancholic stories with deaths, some stories of Elaina having to extricate herself from a situation, and some backstory showing how she came to be wandering. The final story was one of my favorites in the book, and it’s the best one here too. A nice adaptation. – Sean Gaffney

"So Dave, How Are Things Going With Those Comics of Yours?"
Well...
Tumblr media
It's been a while, hasn't it?
Well let me reintroduce myself!
My name's Dave, and I'm an asexual agender (all pronouns accepted) author and illustrator.
My latest dream is Azure Claw Comics, conceived as an iterative anthology, where the stories get longer and more complex over time. Each one deals with a different point in the same timeline, in which people on the fringes of society deal with the nature of humanity, and the power of friendship, and whatever else has my fascination at the moment.
This year started off great for me, as dozens of people started to see and appreciate the mini-comics I prepared for Phase 0 of my plan, and I was all ready to begin an awesome new Phase 1, when I was distracted by money troubles. And then also computer troubles, which would have been fine, if I could afford to replace my computer (or parts of it?)
Despite my temporary computerlessness, I was able to update my site, AzureClaw.com, with information about what's going on.
No matter what happens, I'll be doing my best to work through this, and some kind of comic content will be posted as frequently as I can manage it, starting early next year!
I still have a Patreon, but I won't be accepting new paid memberships there until I've gotten the project back on track in some way! (Anticipated: February 1.)
I'm accepting money right now through my Ko-Fi page, if anyone would like to pitch in just a little bit, to help me in creating future comics!
If you can help, that's awesome! If you can't, I understand, and I'm still glad you're here!

Hi! I really love your fic, and sorry if this is a bit of an awkward question, feel free to ignore it, but which comics would you recommend as ‘essential’ stony reading? You seem very knowledgeable about them :)
That’s not an awkward question at all! And thank you!
When people who haven’t really read comics ask me what comics they should read to get into Steve/Tony, I usually say that they should read Captain America: Man Out of Time – it’s short, it’s modern, it redoes Steve’s origin story in an interesting and approachable way. and it has some very sweet Steve & Tony moments. If you read it and like it, it’s probably worth seeking out other comics. But the thing is, I wouldn’t say it’s “essential” Steve/Tony reading, because it hasn’t really made an impact on fandom either in its plot events or its characterization of Steve & Tony. Like, if you go to AO3, you’re not going to find a lot of fic specifically about it. (Also it’s a retelling so it’s… not really canon in exactly the same way as the regular comics.)
So when you say you want “essential” comics, I am interpreting it as the comics that are basically the greatest hits of Steve/Tony fandom. Comics everyone is expected to know because they are featured again and again in fanfiction and because they have shaped our understanding of Steve and Tony’s characters. That’s what I would consider essential. I mean, much as I love, say, v3, you can probably get by without reading most of v3 because most of it doesn’t show up in fanfic (although you may eventually want to know who Rumiko and Tiberius are and what the deal is with the Sentient Armor).
I’m going to stick the list under a Read More.
Anyway, here’s a stab at making such a list for 616:
Avengers vol 1 #4: Necessary reading for any Steve/Tony fan. The Avengers find an iceberg, and there’s a body in the iceberg wearing red, white and blue, and… yeah, welcome to the future, Captain America. The first voice he hears is Tony’s!
Tales of Suspense vol 1 #58: Marvel had distribution agreements throughout most of the 1960s that limited the number of different comic titles they could sell; as a result, instead of solo books Marvel had a bunch of anthology titles (Tales to Astonish, Strange Tales, Journey into Mystery…) that became “split books” with solo tales of two different heroes. Tales of Suspense had up to this point featured Iron Man, but with this issue it became an Iron Man/Captain America split book, and in this issue Iron Man and Cap team up to fight the Chameleon, by which I mean that the Chameleon impersonates Captain America and Tony accidentally fights the real Cap. Whoops.
Nomad (Captain America vol 1 #180-183): You should probably start reading at about #176 for context. Anyway, Steve is disillusioned with the government after he discovers that Richard Nixon, who commits suicide in front of him, is the leader of the evil Secret Empire, and so he gives up being Captain America and decides to be Nomad. He’s only Nomad for about four issues, but what a glorious four issues it is.
Demon in a Bottle (Iron Man vol 1 #120-128): The original arc that established Tony’s alcoholism. If you see references in fanfic to an incident with the Carnelian ambassador, that’s this arc.
Avengers vol 1 #216: Steve finds out that Tony is Iron Man, because they’re on an Avengers mission and the villain magically strips Tony out of his armor, leaving him standing there wearing only his underwear.
The second drinking arc (Iron Man vol 1 #160-200): Tony starts drinking again and loses everything, to the point where he’s living on the streets in a cardboard box. Rhodey becomes Iron Man and Obadiah Stane takes over the company. This is the drinking arc you want to read. Highlights include #172, in which Steve bridal-carries Tony from a burning building, and #182, in which Tony nearly dies in a blizzard.
Armor Wars (Iron Man vol 1 #225-231): Tony tries to steal his technology back from everyone who has it; you will want to read #228, the issue where Steve tries to stop him. (Stories referencing an incident with the Guardsmen are talking about this.)
Operation Galactic Storm: This is a massive crossover from the early 90s where the Kree and Sh’iar have a fight and Steve and Tony disagree about whether to kill the Kree Supreme Intelligence. You don’t need to read the entire crossover; the part you do need to read is the issue afterwards, Captain America vol 1 #401, in which Steve and Tony make their apologies to each other.
Tales of Suspense vol 2 #1: This is a one-shot issue from the mid-90s in which Steve and Tony team up; its claim to fame is that it includes Tony thinking the following line about Steve: "Captain America. Steve. I look at your handsome face, into your clear azure eyes, and as ever, I feel the same guilty envy.“ (Steve also thinks similarly complimentary things about Tony – it’s very much mutual admiration society/mutual inferiority complex.)
Captain America/Iron Man 1998 Annual: Tony wipes Steve’s mind! Steve finds out and is mad! Then they fight MODOK, get lei’d, and make up at the end. It’s a lot of fun.
Red Zone (Avengers vol 3 #65-70): Tony exposes himself to a deadly disease because Steve is more important than he is and he has to give Steve mouth-to-mouth to save his life. Includes giant panels of their lips touching.
Civil War: You should really read Civil War and everything after.
Avengers Prime: This is a miniseries taking place after Steve comes back to life where Steve and Tony end up on an adventure in the Nine Realms together, Tony gets naked, and also they get some closure about Civil War. They hug it out at the end.
One Night in Madripoor (Captain America & Iron Man #633-635): Steve and Tony team up to fight Batroc, MODOK, and robot bees in Madripoor. There’s a lot of banter.
Avengers vol 5 & New Avengers vol 3: After Civil War, Hickman’s Avengers run is probably the second most popular canon setting for comics Steve/Tony. It’s controversial in fandom, and there’s no happy ending… but you can’t deny that it is absolutely about Steve & Tony’s relationship. A hundred issues of pain and betrayal!
Civil War II: The Oath: Okay, yeah, so, I think we can all agree that Secret Empire (the recent one, not the original one) was a terrible idea and it was a very bad decision to make Steve a fascist dictator – but “The Oath” did give us Steve canonically declaring his love for Tony, so, you know, it has that going for it.
The Cap-IM Tumblr maintains a list of Slashy Moments if you’d like to see panels from most of these (and more). Also, the 18+ 616 Steve/Tony Discord maintains a list of resources and summaries of these and more issues.
I also specifically want to say a little more about Civil War because I think of all the storylines you could read it is probably the most essential for Steve/Tony fans. CW is where the pairing really got its start and I think it’s the most popular setting for stories that engage with a particular era of canon. So if you are going to read one era, Civil War should probably be it.
I recommend starting with New Avengers vol 1, which as a bonus is very good for Steve & Tony up until about #20, when Civil War hits. The Cap and IM runs of the time are also generally viewed as very good and you should definitely read them – that would be Cap v5, by Brubaker, which has the Winter Soldier arc, and IM v4, which starts with Extremis and then continues on to Execute Program and then reaches Civil War.
You are going to want to read the main Civil War storyline but if you’re a Steve and Tony fan honestly most of the fun is in the tie-ins. My abbreviated Civil War reading list is as follows:
Civil War #1-7: You’re gonna need to read this.
Captain America vol 5 #22-24: Honestly I don’t remember most of this but you might as well.
Iron Man vol 4 #13-14: Tony’s motivations are explored, Steve and Tony attempt to come to an agreement during the war, and also Happy Hogan dies and it’s sad.
Captain America/Iron Man: Casualties of War: One of the two key issues you absolutely must read, in which Steve and Tony meet during the war and try to talk things out, and they also summarize what they’re doing and why and basically their entire friendship up to this point.
Civil War: Front Line #11: Toward the end of the war, reporters interview Steve and Tony. Tony lies on the floor and cries. I think I would summarize the post-CW era as a whole as “Tony cries a lot.”
Captain America vol 5 #25: The one where Steve dies.
Civil War: The Confession: READ THIS. If you read nothing else, read this. This is why we have a Steve/Tony ship. This is the essential issue.
Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America #1-5: Features Steve’s funeral. Well, both of Steve’s funerals. If you guessed that they also involve Tony crying a lot, you would be right.
What If? Fallen Son: Mostly worth it for the cover art.
What If? Civil War: After Steve’s funeral, a mysterious stranger shows Tony two worlds in the multiverse where the war could have gone differently. More tears for Tony!
After that, you probably also need to keep up with New Avengers/Mighty Avengers plus the major events up through Steve’s return to life – that would be Secret Invasion (the Skrulls invade), Dark Reign (Norman Osborn runs everything), and Siege (Osborn decides to invade Asgard; Steve comes back for this one). Steve’s return to life is in a miniseries called Captain America Reborn.
I would also recommend the rest of Iron Man vol 4 that takes place after Civil War – it’s renamed to Iron Man: Director of SHIELD because that’s the job Tony gets after Steve dies. Tony is basically a grieving mess. There’s also a miniseries called Avengers/Invaders in which Tony and the post-CW Avengers meet the WWII Invaders – including Steve – and it is a glorious pile of feelings and time travel and sadness.
So, uh, yeah, that’s a lot of issues but honestly I think if you get up to speed on Civil War and the couple years after you will be able to understand a lot of where fandom is coming from. (And then if you read Hickman’s run that’s basically the other run you are most likely to need to know.)
If you can find a copy of it – it’s out of print, alas – there’s a really great trade called Iron Man/Captain America (not Civil War: Captain America/Iron Man, that’s the one with the CW tie-ins, but you will probably want it too) that reprints several pre-Civil War issues focusing on Steve & Tony, including several of the ones mentioned above, like ToS 58, the 1998 annual, and the issues of Armor Wars and the second drinking arc that have Steve in them. Notably, I think it’s the only place that the ToS v2 one-shot (the “azure eyes” issue) has ever been reprinted.
(I take that back, the ToS one-shot is now in a trade called Avengers: Tales to Astonish. And now that I’m looking, the ToS one-shot is now on Marvel Unlimited and comiXology. Sweet!)
I hope that helps!

An Unique funny story with some extremly amusing stuff!
Nowadays, you can find a lot of funny manga around on the web, frequently with some ladies speaking about arbitrary things, but most of them aren't really that entertaining. Which's actually superb! Though they may not be that amusing, still they bring a smile to my face as well as deserve analysis. Well, rule annihilation classroom is different in my opinion. This manga is VERY amusing. I can stop chuckling while reviewing it. There were some scenes were I really needed to laugh for time prior to I might proceed reading. Hina is simply such a slow as well as odd lady, it's incredibly amusing, as well as furthermore some of the situations with the side characters are merely quite humorous.
What I like regarding the manga is the way that it isn't really overstated: Many funny mangas try to offer some 'outrageous' as well as 'over the top' product to make folks laugh, however not here: Most of the moment, the stuff which happens here is not that impractical, it could really take place in the real world (somewhat), which's also what makes it so fantastic. It is kind of 'actual life-situations', which will certainly be very funny is those in fact taken place. The art work, which does not makes use of SD scenes, yet rather 'realisticly distorted faces', does a fairly excellent work in supporting this.
"rule annihilation classroom" has an extremely odd as well as uncommon setting: The male lead character is an adored yakuza participant, and one day, a woman with powerful psychic powers appears in his appartment along with their life together starts. There are some wit mangas which implemented this convention well, and a lot which did.
Well, azur lane comic anthology vol2 is various. There has been no phase thus far which was 'depressing' or had no humor in it. Slice of Life is the ideal style for this: Just loosening up material, no play junk. Every chapter of "rule annihilation classroom" stays true to it's comical nature. There is no phase where suddenly everything obtains tense and also serious, no. It's constantly obtained the bright state of mind of it's. Nevertheless don't get this incorrect: The story certainly advances. Situations adjustments for great deals of the side personalities. Additionally, we do in fact obtain accustomed with even more concerning Hina and where she came from. However it's all offered in a funny fashion and also very gradually, so the manga continually keeps it's "Slice of Life" personality. Additionally, some scenes might be somewhat psychological, for example, when a side personality has to begin living as a homeless person. Yet the mood never ever obtains dim. The personality remains solid, therefore does the humor. Right here, I additionally require to praise the personalities: They are actually really remarkable.
The setting is actually one-of-a-kind. The wit is outstanding. You can't locate it in other funny mangas. Not like this rule annihilation classroom. Because the way of the tale in this manga is so damn remarkable. The manga never fails to keep up the intense personality of it's and soon, you might pertain to enjoy a lot of this manga's characters. If you're looking for great comedy japanese manga to read, I'll suggest this to you !! For more useful reference, kindly visit this link - https://741815.site123.me/blog/their-activities-contended

azur lane comic anthology vol2 - Dream Manga Suggestions:
After having reviewed a couple of very first phases, I was assuming that azur lane comic anthology vol2 is very satisfying dream manga. Although I really did not like it quite however it's still enjoyable to review. And also after many phases I've checked out, I think this is an extremely impressive tale as well as there are something greater than what satisfied the eye.
The composer of azur lane comic anthology vol2, Currygom, is most definitely a superb author. She's let me make it get rid of the most effective writer. Item as well as figures apart, the world ought to have acquired her quite a very long time to produce as well as, since it is one, of azur lane comic anthology vol2 is just one of fantastic problem. Finished I enjoy most worrying azur lane comic anthology vol2's intriguing globe is the truth that it is sensible. We observe in a lot of desires that aspects of their planet are just attributed regarding different other fantastical area of that story-- the majority of times, or on the fact the tale is just a dream, with no possible description. That is something that's one-of-a-kind regarding azur lane comic anthology vol2. Its planet, despite being simply sensational, is sensible. Deep space-- all of it, the secret program, the 3 major species makes good sense.
Probably the point I like one of one of the most around reviewing azur lane comic anthology vol2 is its unique tale. It consists of recalls of the past with activities taking place in our with "observations" right into the future. Unlike various series, flashbacks keep fantastic relevance in azur lane comic anthology vol2. In the beginning of azur lane comic anthology vol2, it had been like I had been thrown in to the facility of the tale-- I did not understand what took place. Gradually, when I continue reading, the tricks of yesteryear started to resolve and also concerns began to make good sense. I began to recognize what works the personalities played in whatever as well as why specific celebrations happened. It did not quit there. Piecing together the data received from monitorings and the flashbacks is solely your decision. I've typically seen azur lane comic anthology vol2 like a kind of problem. The facility of the problem was currently assembled, however coating as well as the beginning have not. To be able to observe the larger image I-view the center of the issue whilst the basis of the component you begin reviewing-- as well as the shed puzzle items whilst the details you have to get with the flashbacks, observations, and also advancement of the tale of the manga. I absolutely delight in piecing together the background.
Since I Have described two crucial aspects of azur lane comic anthology vol2, I would certainly such as to allow you know about one more essential requirement of the sequence: the piece. I wont give you with a verdict of the piece, since you might just search the summary (nonetheless bad it's), as well as since the plot is nothing I will swiftly examine, yet I'll allow you understand points to anticipate. This manhwa is extremely piece-motivated. Conveniently required to clarify the piece in one single term, it 'd be "grand". The piece is truly grand-- itis undoubtedly difficult, likewise it involves a variety of issues. Concerns change-- in some cases so swiftly and also sometimes so drastically-- and the piece just shows up to have more as well as complicated the more although it is apparently simple and also simple at first you read. Something is sure in azur lane comic anthology vol2. This sequence is really unidentified. Whenever you think every little thing is just beginning to seem sensible and also problems are simply beginning to unwind, Currygom might shock you having a plot twist covering best round the edge-- leaving everything in a bigger mess than it initially was, and making you with increased problems than you initially had. This azur lane comic anthology vol2 story has a great deal of plot spins and, in addition to that, it's relatively extraordinary cliffhangers to help them which I actually take pleasure in.
Today for that closing and also next vital demand of the series: the characters, clearly. The personalities definitely do the element when the manhwa did not presently glow. it is true that the large toss might make the tale shed its emphasis, although I have actually been an enthusiast of huge casts. This isn't whatsoever the situation with azur lane comic anthology vol2. Having a cast around five key personalities (that'll boost or decrease with time), additionally, it has various supporting people. You will certainly locate two factors I such as worrying the character division of azur lane comic anthology vol2: one, just how every character is important to some level as well as performs a considerable part within the story line, how every personality is somehow associated with each other-- whether by conditions, individuals, or another point. Additionally, every one of the characters (particularly the essential types) are, certainly, created and also well crafted.
Though artwork is not a really big issue of mine, I've to share, despite the fact that it began actually delicate, the-art enhances significantly with time. I like the method the craft ended up. To point out some alterations, the firm and also covering boosted greatly, greater information was put into specific issues, the abilities appear better, plus some things-- such whilst the hands-- are brought in far better. In fact my friend, that surf the very first area formerly, claimed, "Wow. The artwork is fairly today." He could not, nevertheless, place his hand considering that the characters still show up considerably the same-- which, in my experience, is an excellent point on which changed.
To day, I discussed read manga online being an incredibly serious manhwa, have not I? Well, itis deal with that azur lane comic anthology vol2is item has black touches (Catastrophe is amongst its styles, ultimately), yet itis likewise loaded with funny moments that'll have you ever before laughing aloud-- particularly originally (Another cause I did not consider azur lane comic anthology vol2 really seriously at first). It's some relatively extreme battles-- and also, to my choice although there are not that lots of activity minutes within this sequence, they do not cover out for sections and chapters. Additionally, azur lane comic anthology vol2 might possibly not be flooded with love, or do I think it is missing out on any kind of (considering exactly what the series is about), nevertheless the author did state its main is just a love background, to make sure that addresses for itself.
Though azur lane comic anthology vol2 started slow and also perhaps additionally breakable, it is the very initial series I Have supplied it rating to and also is presently my number 1 cherished comedian. I assume it deserves it. Currygom has just as Currygom and produced as well as remarkable tale as well as her collection certainly deserve motivation. azur lane comic anthology vol2 is truly a concealed treasure. I need you to see it if you ought to be a little thinking about azur lane comic anthology vol2. It isn't full of fight scenes every man or is it an exceptionally basic story to take a look at, but when youare thinking of a fantastic secret having a superb piece and also toss of characters, after that azur lane comic anthology vol2 is the element for you. I would certainly suggest this manga scan to anybody buying well- tale that is composed. Please visit http://publish.lycos.com/bestmangasites/2021/03/12/4vj7p7tgk1eaachb994uo1615544607/

favorite yuri & shoujo ai
man i’ve been sitting on this for a while now but it’s finally basically finished. I’ve written a short summary along with noted whether there is sexual content, general warnings about content, and length (it always annoys me when i read a good looking synopsis only to find out it’s just a one shot). My favs have asterisks next to them. happy reading!
#
20 Year Old Girl x 30 Year Old Maiden: a young girl falls in love with her former instructor. (short ish; COMPLETED)
A
Ano Musume ni Kiss to Shirayuri o: Girl who just wants to be number one challenges the girl who is naturally the best at everything. Nice development, cute art, interesting characters. Soft and sweet and engaging. (long; ONGOING)
Aoi Hana: A manga about girls in school who navigate their desires and lives as they age and the people around them change. One of my favorite authors who has other series that are definitely worth the read. Has sexual content but not gratuitous if i remember correctly?? (52 chapters; COMPLETED)
Apocalypse: Special items in a video game bring a girl and her crush closer together. No actual concrete relationship starts but definite cute and soft feelings that I liked. (three chapters; COMPLETED)
*Asagao to Kase-san: Girl meets another girl whole watering the morning glories and falls in love. suffers a little from “but we’re both girls!” in the beginning but is pretty temporary. Has sexual content. (longer; ONGOING, but definitely has a good chunk of story finished)
B
*Bright and Cheery Amnesia: girl loses all her memories and wakes up in the hospital to her girlfriend. Though she’s shocked, it seems that spending three years together and being in love transcends any difficulties. SUPER CUTE. Has some sexual content but not graphic. (medium length currently?; ONGOING)
C
*Chatting at the Amber Teahouse: A sweet and slow paced manga about a girl who works at a tea house and is in love with the owner. One of my absolute favorites for its atmosphere and pacing. (21 chapters counting extras and prologue; COMPLETED)
D
*Double House: Trans woman working at a bar and a girl who’s run away from her upper class family become neighbors. I really really like the art and atmosphere of this; it’s very lovely and softly engaging. (it’s by the same artist of pieta, my ultimate favorite) (3 chapters; COMPLETED)
E
*Ebisu-san and Hotei-san: When a woman transfers to her department, the main character feels antagonistic towards her aloof attitude and goes out of her way to make her feel unwelcome. This all changes when she receives insight into the other woman’s life and her feelings become very different. very cute and subtle with a sweet ending. ???????? (6 chapters plus extra; COMPLETED)
*Exciting Feelings (also Fluttering Feelings): girl becomes friends with a popular girl and they slowly develop feelings for eachother. (as of now i’m the translations they have not yet gotten together but the slow burn is realllll goood) (longer; ONGOING)
G
Girl Friends: A classmate approaches a girl who is generally alone in the class and invites her to join her friend group. They end up developing feelings for eachother. Pretty good, not my favorite but definitely worth the read when u can. (COMPLETED)
H
Hide in the Flowers - girls at a magic academy; cute but not story heavy (shorter; ONGOING)
Houro Musuko: About a trans girl who grows up and is both affected by and affects those around her. A little sensationalized imo but has such a great host of characters and that good soft art. Less romance more coming of age but is lesbian or at least girl loves a girl in the long term so .. Read It. Has sexual content but it’s conducive to character development so doesn’t count. (123 chapters; COMPLETED)
Irrational Us: About a lesbian office worker with a sort of off putting, twisted personality (as much as i hate to use that word lol). Super interesting main character. (10 chapters; ONGOING)
K
Kanojo to Camera no Kanojo no Kisetsu: Not completely sure why i like this one so much; the current translations don’t even have the main girls getting together, but i think it has an atmosphere that i really enjoy. It’s about a girl who feels bored and out of place with her usual friends until she speaks to a girl with a camera who she’s always admired and they become close friends. No sexual content (shorter; ONGOING)
Kuchibiru ni Suketa Orange: Beautiful and stylish girl transfers from tokyo and joins the plain friend group of another girl, who harbors a secret crush and longing for the girl from tokyo. Has sexual content and some sort of iffy motifs (like the main character imitating the girl she has a crush on that was kinda… off putting) (6 chapters; COMPLETED)
Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo: A series of cute one shots. By morinaga milk, who a lot of people LOVE, but doesn’t really make my favorite type of content. No sexual content (9 chapters; COMPLETED)
L
*Lesbian-Teki Kekkon Seikatsu: Married couple and their journey to having children. cute style and interesting! No sexual content. (shorter; ONGOING)
*Love My Life: A lesbian woman going through her life and interacting with her friends and family. SUPER interesting story with a main character that i really liked. Has sexual content. (12 chapters; COMPLETED)
M
Magan he Danai: Cute series of loosely connected oneshots about a couple in which one woman is mischievous and often messes with her wife, who tolerates it sometimes and retaliates other times. Cute and fun dynamic and nice art. No sexual content. (11 chapters; COMPLETED)
**Manga no Tsukurikata: A manga artist decides to date a girl she knows from work who has confessed to her in order to write yuri manga. Turns out the younger girl is also a manga artist, and one that she idolizes. Very sweet and slice of life & a relationship that develops slowly but sweetly into something very sincere. This has been one of my favorite series for a long time. (longer; COMPLETED)
Mars no Kiss: rebellious girl who has an older boyfriend and thinks of herself as emotionally and sexually more mature than those around her is seated near honors student and falls in love. does NOT end with mutual feelings, unfortunately, but DOES end on a happy note. has sexual content. (4 chapters; COMPLETED)
More Than Friends?: two girls work out their feelings for each other and experience lots of things together. Very very cute stuff!! currently (as of july 2017) on hiatus. (mid-length?; ONGOING)
MORISHIMA AKIKO (queen)
she has a lot of great stuff that i have to recommend here so enjoy
* Happy Picture Diary: A series of 4-panel comics about life as a lesbian woman and interacting with other non straight people. really cute and fun and i think (?) semi-autobiographical (a note says parts of it are based on the author’s life) ???????? (5 chapters; COMPLETED ((website says it’s ongoing but hasn’t updated since 2011 so))
* A Lapis Lazuli Blue Dream (also Azure Dream): An anthology with office women romance, high school sweethearts who have moved on to college, office women who chase the same girl (honey & mustard), a girl in love with a widow who she’s known since she was young (not wild about this one lol), a continuation of 20 year old girl x 30 year old maiden, a doujinshi author who meets one of her fans at her sister’s school festival (again kinda iffy about this one) has small amounts of sexual content. (10 chapters; ONGOING?)
* Renai Joshika: Office ladies romance!! Has prequels and sequels to stuff in a lapis lazuli blue dream. Has sexual content. (9 chapters plus extras; ONGOING?)
My Girlfriend’s Ex-Boyfriend: While sleeping after having sex, the main character’s girlfriend speaks in her sleep and causes the main character to feel uneasy in their relationship and leads to her investigating her girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend and a few misunderstandings. Has sexual content. (longer; ONGOING)
N
Nanashi no Asterism: Three girls who become friends but end up in a love triangle amongst themselves. No real relationship ever occurs but i think i liked this one for the characters and their friendship and the communication between them. Has a sweet but not romantic ending. (23 chapters; COMPLETED)
O
Octave: Former idol falls in love with a music composer. Not my favorite (a lot of focus on sex, girl cheats on her gf with a man at one point), but has some very good moments, well developed characters, and a heavier atmosphere that u might like if u can get thru the rest of it. I think the reason that it made my list despite its faults is because it’s actually long (which is so hard to find) and bc the relationship between the girls changes and develops a lot. Has a lot of sexual content. (36 chapters; COMPLETED)
*Omoi no Kakera: A lesbian school girl who works at a cafe navigates her life and identity while making friends and affecting the lives of other people in her own way. Has other stories that are connected to the main one in different ways that are also very interesting. (15 chapters ??? (too many extras to count lol); COMPLETED)
OTSU HIYORI
she just has some real cute stuff lol
* Your Cuteness: A series of cute oneshots (by the same author as aqua blue cinema) (COMPLETED)
* *Aqua Blue Cinema: When a famous actress is standing on a cliff’s edge, a local girl assumes that she is going to jump and tries to stop her, but just ends up pushing her in. When the actress loses an important necklace, the other girl becomes her personal assistant in order to pay it off. Love love love this one super cute. ?????? (six chapters; COMPLETED)
* Clover - A series of oneshots by the same author as Aqua Blue Cinema that are super sweet. ??????? (7 chapters plus extra; COMPLETED)
P
Partition: Girl who is obsessed with cute things seems to accidentally capture one of her coworker’s embarrassing moments. To get back at her, her coworker snaps a picture of them kissing for blackmail. After that, both of them gain a new awareness for eachother. Seems cute so far and the art is super lovely. No sexual content. (shorter; COMPLETED)
**Pieta: About a girl with an abusive family who struggles with self harm and abandonment issues. She starts an odd sort of relationship with another girl, who also struggles with mental illness. They bond over this and other things and help eachother work through their issues. A little codependent imo but such a beautiful story with incredible contemplative aspects that had me in awe. Especially love bc their relationship is incredibly deep and emotional and only slightly romantic, with a happy ending and that at no point “but we’re both girls!” or homophobia of any sort plays a role is a great added bonus. No sexual content. ((warnings for suicide attempt, self harm, and familial abuse)) (11 chapters counting extras; COMPLETED)
*Plica: Lesbian woman navigates her (love) life after a close friend’s wedding and contemplates on hers and others sexualities. Really cute. Has sexual content. (132 SHORT chapters; COMPLETED)
*Poor Poor Lips: Poor girl comes to work at the power stones shop of a well off lesbian woman. Super super sweet and slow developing and definitely worth the read. Probably one of if not my favorite series on this list. ?????? (75 chapters; COMPLETED)
Pure Marionation: a robot girl going to school and making friends and navigating the life of a high school girl. The art style of this one is not… super choice, but has cute and original concepts that i enjoyed and let me mostly overlook those huge eyes and weirdly molded faces .. has some nudity and some slightly suggestive content but is overall not sexual. (18 chapters; COMPLETED)
R
*Renai Manga: An aspiring manga editor is in charge of the author whose work changed her life. However, she’s completely different from what she thought and, despite being a little dispirited due to that, she grows to respect and enjoy her personality and company. cute and lighthearted!! (8 chapters plus extras; COMPLETED)
S
*Sasameki Koto: Girl in love with her lesbian best friend but unable to make a move bc her friend only likes “cute girls.” SO GOOD, very sweet, 100% recommend. great development, lots of sweet side characters, and overall a great manga. (53 chapters; COMPLETED)
Sayonara Folklore: At a girls school, there is a superstition that if you touch another girl on monday, you must recite a charm or else risk being cursed by two girls who committed a lovers suicide together. However, when a transfer student comes, she seems to disregard this and pull the main character along with her as they break the rules together. Cute art, great ending. There’s some “i’m in love with my sister!” stuff going on that is super misleading but that’s Not how it is. No sexual content. (9 chapters plus extras; COMPLETED)
