@comfort-questing no no don't worry they won't die...
They will however pass out right after confessing their love to caretaker so they can
a) panic
b) panic about the fact that in the frantic attempt to not let whumpee bleed out they didn't say it back
c) yell at whumpee as soon as they wake up to never scare them like that again
Injured whumpee quickly coming to terms with the fact that they might not make it and desperately trying to tell caretaker how much they love them while they're too busy trying to stop the bleeding to listen.
Big fan of the:
"I have to tell you something"
"You'll tell me tomorrow. You'll be okay and you'll tell me tomorrow"

Yes. All of these.
a couple of kinds of quiet
a weary burnt-out quiet, the stillness that comes from utter exhaustion, dragging feet stumbling and slowing, shaky knees giving out, curling up on the ground in a weak attempt to make themselves less of a target as their eyes close and their tired body relaxes with or without their permission
desperately hushed, stifled-breath quiet, pressed against the closest sheltering structure with hands in tentative reach of whatever weapon they have, gulping down their panic as the rushing heartbeat in their ears makes it hard to listen for approaching footsteps
wary busy quiet of pointless work to stave off worry, perched within arms' reach at a friend's bedside, biting lips in a nervous smile, carefully folding and re-folding bandages and spare blankets, calculating the doses of medicine for when their brief light sleep turns restless again
calm-after-the-storm quiet, when the bleeding has slowed at last and they lie limp and motionless on the stained sheet spread beneath them, the only movement the slow-tracked gaze of the dull eyes in their pallid face, finding each face around them as if counting that they're all right too
satisfied end-of-day quiet as the sun sinks behind the horizon, yawns stifled behind scratched-up hands, squinting into the fading light, gear thrown aside haphazardly to be cleared up later, shaky laughter and shoulder squeezes and wincing patch-ups on the edge of the bathtub, as another adventure draws to a close before the next one begins

I've been wondering, how do people play Dragon Age games, does the majority stick to a specific team comp, or do they keep switching companions hoping to hear all sorts of banters?

part two of an odd textual mystery analysis (haikaveh focus)
(part one of my thoughts can be found here!)
immediately after wrapping things up at the house of daena, kaveh takes to finding alhaitham solely in order to tell him what went down regarding the book (i've heard that in the CN, kaveh apparently looked for alhaitham for half a day??? help. the dedication)
alhaitham is shown to leave his perusing of a book stall to approach kaveh when called, which is an extra animation? (for me this is similar to the extra animations in the flashback scene within their house in cyno's story quest ii, with alhaitham putting the book down when interacting with kaveh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaveh teases alhaitham, making him guess what he has in his bag - to which alhaitham goes along with, with his own dry sense of humour, guessing that it's the book, to which kaveh counters, but actually confirms by telling him that it's The Book
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaveh tells alhaitham about the circling of names being due to him as an inadvertent instigator, to which alhaitham replies that he knew something like this would happen, ever since he saw Kaveh having circled the murderer's name - to which kaveh questions, because kaveh recalls returning the book to the house of daena after doing so?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
only for alhaitham to reveal that he read the book (previously?/after?) in the house of daena.. and that kaveh left the book in the study, after he circled the name of the killer. meaning that alhaitham saw the book that kaveh took out of the library, and was comfortable enough to open it, because he knew kaveh would be fine with it, because the study is their shared space??
(this reminds me a parade of providence where kaveh stresses that it's fine to look through documents that alhaitham has left out, since alhaitham wanted kaveh to look through them, but now it seems that the study is canonically their shared place? im thinking of kaveh's birthday letter calling it 'my' study, due to him being so comfortable with his residency with alhaitham... oh :D)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaveh being embarrassed about being caught out, but not annoyed with alhaitham looking through the book. they really are at so much more ease with each other!!
Tumblr media
kaveh then asking if alhaitham if circled a name, to which alhaitham confirms, saying that the second one (green ink... being the complimentary colour to kaveh's red ink okay...) is his, all in order to signal a red herring to throw off the people checking out the book after kaveh, in order to avoid kaveh spoiling the killer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaveh then questions why alhaitham only circled one, in contrast to other people, to which alhaitham rationalises by saying that circling two names is more than enough to avoid a spoiler, considering that kaveh used permanent ink when creating the spoiler
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaveh pulls alhaitham up on this and says that alhaitham only circled one name on the first page, too, because he thought it would be funny - to which alhaitham agrees, saying it's more fun that reading the book, and kaveh agrees!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the line with their new rapport in bickering in cyno's story quest 2, this truly is just inconsequential bickering, they're enjoying each other's responses and chasing it, not misunderstanding the other and actively getting hurt. they've improved so much!!
alhaitham congratulating kaveh on officially owning the book, to which kaveh dismisses dejectedly - the camera pans out onto the traveller and paimon, but we see alhaitham say something to kaveh, continuing their banter outside of the player's knowledge
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this quest essentially happened because alhaitham and kaveh are that comfortable in sharing things with each other, and believing the other to want to share things, such as alhaitham perusing through a book that kaveh checked out from the house of daena, and feeling comfortable enough to interfere with one of kaveh's actions - using permanent ink to spoil the killer, in order to avoid spoilers for the next person, and, perhaps dually, repercussions on kaveh's part. kaveh shows no upset with this action, nor alhaitham looking through the book he left in the study
it nicely ties together the beginning and the end - kaveh and alhaitham dually act as the catalyst for the quest in their actions regarding the book, and we immediately cut to kaveh going to tell alhaitham about it when the problem is sorted. we start with alhaitham and kaveh, although we don't know it at first, and we end with them? it's an inconsequential quest, v fun, and v silly, but i love how we get lil insights into haikaveh's life in their home outside of the player <333

No, listen this is so important to me.
When we kidnap Kieran he is of course tied to the tree. When he is finally freed he sleeps somewhere close to the horses.
When the gang moves to Clemen's Point, he is more relaxed in camp but still sleeps outside the camp, sitting against a tree, again close to the horses.
When the gang moves to Shady Bell, and Tilly is not rescued yet so Mary Beth is sitting in this spot, Kieran does not sleep at all, and instead he just stands next to Javier's tent staring into the night.
Once Tilly is rescued and all the girls, save Ms Grimshaw sleep inside, Kieran, finally, feels comfortable enough to sleep inside the circle of waggons, among the gang.

Been thinking a lot about this “the family plays isat” AU and how it might happen
Siffrin would probably refuse for them to play it if he was aware of it (thinking about how they said when learning about the diary in the library that they would hate it if someone read their deepest thoughts) and the rest of the family would also respect that, because it really would be a breach of trust. They’d prefer it if Siffrin talked to them himself, after all.
A situation I could see it happening is if, post-Loop battle, Siffrin’s Craft exhaustion got so severe he gets knocked out for a full week or two, maybe more! And the family would be so worried and desperate to understand what happened so that if the game appeared to them suddenly, they’d be tempted enough to play through it. If only just to figure out how to help Siffrin wake up again
(and probably a mixture of other emotions too, wanting to see the conversations Siffrin had with them that they don’t remember, feeling guilty that they didn’t notice soon enough, terrified that Siffrin is hiding something else. I mean, Siffrin straight up did not mention the Loop battle to them at all, even after they promised to talk! so they’d be worried on what happened there already)
Honestly I think all of them would also be exhausted and on bed rest after the whole quest to defeat the King was over, it took months of constant movement and stress so the whole family would crash hard afterwards. Cuz of that they’d be stuck together on like the infirmary or a private room with strict orders to take it easy, what better time to play the game than that?

Ah, this is golden! The little details we see through the apprentice's watchful and discerning eyes really make this scene.
Thank you so much for writing and sharing with us!
fealty (ch3)
first, second
it was an hour or less before dawn when the apprentice had a chance to see to the guard again, on the other side of the night from when she'd gently but firmly escorted out his visitor into the gathering dark. she'd been busy fetching and carrying and helping clean, the usual activities for when she was sharing nighttime duty with a handful of the other healers, and snatched a brief nap herself in the linen closet with her head on her arm, before waking to a summons. but in the cold gray of dreadfully early morning, iron-dull outside the windows, she huddled herself up at the foot of the guard's bed and held the water basin as one of the healers changed out the blood-clotted bandages wrapping his chest.
at least to her half-practiced glance all was well with him so far, the stitches holding and the skin around the wounds not too deeply reddened. the sound of his breaths was a little easier now, and he had given in to the sleeping draught and to exhaustion both, the skin sallow and papery around his closed eyes in the candlelight.
Valin. a name, a word, an identity. she had always been terrible at remembering names. you heard so many, and used them so seldom.
she stayed by his side afterwards, gathering up the dirty gauze and old bandages, tucking the blankets closer around him in the chill of the dark before dawn. it was only a few moments later that she saw his eyes were open, although no more than a fraction, and watching her as she moved here and there.
"can I... water, please."
he was better at measuring his breath now, because the few words did not set him coughing again; when she returned with the half-full cup of water and a spoon, he had gotten himself sitting up a little further, pale and shaky but with a set face.
"you don't need to try to move. I was going to help you. just tell me if you're going to try to get out of bed or something silly like that, wouldn't you?"
the guard blinked, and then the twist of a smile found the side of his mouth again.
"I won't...try yet, I think."
"you'd better not. you've been hurt badly and if you want to recover and go back to guarding, you'll need to rest and let yourself get better."
you had to take a hard stand with some of these fighting folk, the apprentice knew from experience. she knew it was less convincing coming from her than from the other healers, who had had more practice and typically more age and dignity, but it was worth a try.
"I... suppose so." he drank slowly from the cup she held to his lips, putting one hand up to steady it; he reached first with his right hand but winced and bit back a yelp, and then with his left more successfully. "where's ... Sorindel?"
"your lord? I hope he's asleep, it's quite late in the night. but I told him he could be back tomorrow." she glanced back over her shoulder, past the draft-brushed curtains, trying to gauge what was lamplight and what was the arrival of day outside the windows. "which should be soon, I think."
"good. shouldn't... have been shocked... if he'd stayed." the guard licked an escaped drop of water off his cracked lips, his eyes still sleep-hollowed, and chuckled softly. "he's... that sort."
"the healers wouldn't have let him. they don't like people sitting around getting in their way, not unless someone's dying and needs company."
"and we didn't... come to that, anyway." he coughed a little, but quickly stifled it, hiding the following wince with gritted teeth. "close, but... not quite."
something about the almost conspiratorial feeling of the moment, of the guard's lopsided half-smile next to her, gave the apprentice courage to ask, "was it his fault, what happened?"
the guard took another measured breath, wincing again.
"I... suppose it was. but - that doesn't matter, really. he's... my responsibility. like a cat... or a finicky rosebush... you know." once again the smile, and a shrug of one shoulder. "and... a nice fellow. so we'll forgive him."
the apprentice sat back on the wooden chair, tucking one leg up, chin to knee; her hands and apron were redolent of the strong soap from the basin, and she wrinkled up her nose.
"might as well," she said.
the smile had faded off the guard's face now, dull blue eyes suddenly serious. "if anything... happens, you'll... tell him that, won't you? not about... cats and rosebushes. about... forgiving him."
she reached over, then, and tugged the blanket up over the guard's shoulders, forestalling his clumsy one-handed attempts to manage it. the sheen of sweat on his forehead was visible in the candlelight, shivery strength giving out from his effort of the previous moments.
"of course," she said. "you'll tell him, if you wish; and I'll tell him, if we need to."
she watched his eyes slip shut again, and his labored breathing lengthen out, as beyond the walls the first birds started singing, sure of daylight before its appearance; and then when she was sure he was asleep, and the footsteps of the morning shift of healers approaching in the hallway, she stifled her own yawn and let the curtain fall closed on his rest.
