🌿 {Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God // He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood} 🌿 today, I would have to say, was a pretty productive day! I have several pieces that I started AND finished, using new techniques and brushes. and with them, I created this wreath. as I was listening to my worship playlist, “Come Thou Fount,” sung by @hillaryscottla, came on and I decided those would be the words I would write within it. this hymn is one of my FAVORITES. the words strung together capture everything my heart aches to express. the hymn reminds me of who Jesus is, and even though I feel as far as can be from Him, I am never beyond His knowing or out of His reach. we never are. His love will follow us into the deepest pit and far above the atmosphere. And we know our hearts are helpless apart from the tuning and sealing of God’s grace. We are prone to wander.⠀⁣ ⠀⁣ Yet as we live in the tension of this moment called the present — where the rapids of the future rush at us and collect behind us into the pool of the past — we know who our God has shown himself to be. He indeed is the fountain of every blessing. He is the one whose streams of mercy never cease and will be new again tomorrow (Lamentations 3:22–23). And not only has he shown himself faithful in countless small kindnesses and rescues, but chiefly in the death of his own Son for us (Romans 5:8), the mountain peak of his redeeming love, the Ebenezer we call Calvary.⠀⁣ ⠀⁣ Jesus spilled his own blood to rescue us when we were wandering. How much more will he now save us from the dangers to come? He has raised the stone of help, and our hope to arrive safely home, come what may, is no mere wish, but a sure and steady hope, as sure as God is God. I walked to my friends apartment tonight listening to Vocal Point. The song "Come thou fount" started to play. - - - This song is very special to me. It's my missions song. So whenever I hear it, memories of the best 18 months fly back to me. - - - The part that gets me is the part I quoted in my picture. God KNOWS that we are going to wander, and He KNOWS that we will be looking for Him. Maybe for some not right away, but there will come a day. - - - I have had some incredible experiences lately that have just filled my soul with joy. From making a new friend, to General Conference, devotional, so so SO many things. - - - Being a missionary was the best thing that I did for myself, and as I have returned to the habit of daily scripture study and prayer, it has helped me realize how much of an impact the Spirit has in my life! It also makes me wonder what exactly I have been missing all the times that I wasn't close enough to the Lord. - - - Don't settle! Be around those that lift you up! Be around those that make you want to become better. You have SO much potential that you don't even see. You are destined for greatness, and you have the Greatest Being as your guide. Trust in Him. He will never lead you astray. - - - Yes, we may wander at times, but He will still be there waiting with open arms. He will never forsake you, or leave you broken beyond repair. Trusting in Him and His plan has been a big focus for me lately, and I really have just jumped into the deep end, hoping that I keep making the choices I need to. - - - It's not easy. At all. But is it worth it? You betcha! God has a Plan of Happiness. After all, "Adam fell that men might be and men are that they might have joy." So get out there! MAKE SOME JOY! - - - The Gospel is true. You are of royal birth. You are glorious, unique, and His greatest creation. Remember who you are. - - - Be bold. Be brave. Be beautiful. But that day the Lord thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites. ...Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer,saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’” 1 Samuel 7:10-12 This song - although written years before I was born - could be the testimony of my life. Verse One talks about God’s never ending streams of mercy. His unrelenting grace pursued me - never giving up. So my focus should be on what Christ did for me and my aim should be to praise Him. Verses Two and Three remind me to raise my stone of hope. Not only should I always remember what God has done for me, but I should lift up my praise for all to see. Once again focused on the redeeming blood of Jesus, I remember how He pursued me, no matter how far I wandered from Him. I remember how He rescued me and how it is His pleasure that I be with Him in heaven forever. Verse Four - which has always been my favorite - reminds me of the wondrous mercy and grace of God. I admit that I have a rebellious heart and am prone to run far away from God. I acknowledge how much I need God and how much I owe Him for His grace. I realize the pure goodness of God.
