The history of the old session hall is as enriching as the legacy it holds. Built in the late 19th century, the hall initially served as the meeting place for the country's legislative body. It witnessed pivotal moments in Philippine history, from heated debates on national issues to the passing of significant legislations. The old session hall became a symbol of democracy & governance, representing the voice of the people.

However, as the years went by, the need for a larger and more modern legislative space arose. The old session hall, with its limitations in terms of size and infrastructure, could no longer accommodate the growing demands of the legislative process. It was decided that a new session hall would be constructed, and the old one would be repurposed.

Recognizing the historical and cultural significance of the old session hall, the decision was made to transform it into a part of the National Museum of the Philippines. By doing so, the government aimed to preserve and honor the heritage of the space, ensuring that future generations would have the opportunity to learn and appreciate the country's political history.

Today, the old session hall stands as a testament to the nation's journey towards democracy. As a part of the National Museum, it offers not only a tangible glimpse into the past but also serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding democratic values. It is a place where the stories of our forefathers are preserved & where visitors can immerse themselves in the history that has shaped our nation.

When reality crushes your expectations 😫 • • This is a photo of me at the entrance of the beautiful Big Lagoon in the El Nido region. What this photo doesn’t show is my bleeding finger from trying to force land our drone safely on the boat and my dismay at seeing crowds of orange-vested visitors kayak into the lagoon. • • Photos I had bookmarked on Instagram show a lone kayaker surrounded by sparkling turquoise water and no other soul in sight. Photoshopped or not, we had hoped that by booking a private tour and leaving a smidgen earlier than the tours, we would have the same photo opportunity. Unfortunately this was not the case, and the photo I had envisioned was not going to play out this particular morning. • • I was frustrated. Obviously I had little control over this situation. But later on, I was also disappointed in myself that I had been frustrated by the fact that I had been chasing a photo to post on this platform and had lost sight of where I was and the insanely beautiful surroundings around me. • • It goes without saying that this moment was a reality check for me and in sharing this story, I hope it will be a reality check for you. That before the Internet and social media, these jaw-dropping natural landscapes existed for us to enjoy in a moment. We don’t need to capture every single aspect to share publicly. • • Drink in the sights with your eyes, commit them to your memory and savour all the senses that awaken when you find yourself in a place like this. And if you don’t photograph it, don’t beat yourself up about it. Time flies by so quickly, & I am amazed that It has already been 4 years since I first set foot in your beautiful city. Throughout my stay here, I’ve come to appreciate the peaceful & relaxing atmosphere you provide, as well as wide range of activities & natural wonders that are readily available to explore. From your lush forests, to your stunning lakes & waterfalls, you have everything that one could ever want for a perfect escape from the hustle & bustle of city life. Your friendly locals & vibrant culture have also added to the warm & welcoming environment that I’ve experienced during my stay.

As my 3rd home, Laguna holds a special place in my heart as it has given me countless memories & experiences to cherish. From lazy days lounging on your shade of trees to hiking along your rugged mountain trails & Indulging in the delicious local cuisine.

While I will miss your breathtaking sunsets & picturesque scenery, I am leaving knowing that I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to experience your beauty & charm.
