Un #programa de #comedia de #SBS #bajo #críticas por #incluir una #cara #pintada de #negro en un #corto El 19 de abril, SBS publicó imágenes del episodio 188 de “Comedy Hunter” en YouTube. Sin embargo, un vídeo en particular recibió más atención. El vídeo, que estaba incluido en el segmento “Legend Match” (título provisional), contenía una descripción que decía  “El maquillaje fallido de Hong Hyun Hee – ¿Cómo se supone que vamos a soportarlo?”. En el corto, Hong Hyun Hee interpreta a un personaje que se está preparando para una prueba de actuación cómica a pesar de la desaprobación de su padre. Cuando su madre la saca para ver a su padre, Hong Hyun Hee aparece con la cara pintada de negro. Mientras en episodios anteriores del corto normalmente la cómica aparece vestida de cíclope, el segmento de esta semana impactó a los fans internacionales por su representación. Como respuesta, los espectadores internacionales tomaron Twitter y YouTube para expresar sus pensamientos: Desafortunadamente, esta no es la primera vez que el entretenimiento coreano ha representado caras pintadas de negro. Giggles Galore at Youtube #ComedyHuntFinale with Royal Challenge Sports Drink

So what tickles your funny bone? Youtube tops the list for me! Need a quick lift-me-up in under 5 minutes? Find a funny video which will humor you just right! That long, tiring, making-you-sweat-like-a-pig train journey  will be over in a jiffy once you find that one video, the superhero that will make your sides split with its rib-tickling humor! In an attempt to discover and honor the newbie comedic minds behind such humourous gems, Youtube India had launched its very own Talent Hunt, rightfully named, The Comedy Hunt.

And on behalf of Royal Challenge Sports Drink, I was invited as a guest to be a part of this Comedy Hunt’s Finale event. Royal Challenge Sports Drink celebrates those who are bold enough to step out of their comfort zone – those who are bold enough to speak up on any issues, that they have a strong point of view on. These are the bold ones. The ones that pave the way for others to be inspired by – and emulate. Stand-up comedy requires boldness to come up with creative ways of making people think while making them laugh, it also challenges some of our social norms and points out our hypocrisies. Stand-up comedy, especially in India today, uses humor to make provocative comments that are nothing short of bold moves.

Royal Challenge’s association with YouTube Comedy Hunt, brings you some of the best videos that demonstrate the kind of boldness that is required to make people think while making them laugh. The event kicked off with the AIB team introducing us to the concept of The Comedy Hunt through a hilarious introductory video that had the audience in splits. Watching the antics of their favourite Team AIB coupled up with the ever-so-charming Team Pretentious, Kanan Gill and Biswa was the icing on the cake.

The selected videos of the finalists proved their worth in the contest. Take 900’s take on popular TV show references made us guffaw while Random Chikibum’s demonstration of every employee’s struggle to score a day off through their ‘Chutti Chahiye’ was to the point. Forked Up with their tongue-in-cheek interview of an adult film production team, Funny Brownies and their version of our loved ‘late night talk shows’ with the mandatory Sax player, and Weird Communication’s Ugleepath  which basically reminded us of all the bans Mumbai has been subjected to within the past year made the audience erupt in laughter with every joke.

The scene stealers were obviously the seasoned Youtubers. Kanan and Biswa’s CID spoof featuring Abish Matthew ticked all the right funny boxes. East India Comedy’s listicle of the type of commenters on Youtube videos made you wonder which category you (embarrassingly) fell into. Schitzengiggles’ impromptu act proved what comedic geniuses they are and Abish Matthew’s expressions during his effortlessly funny Guide to Tamil Movie Characters made our jaws hurt from laughing out loud.

The winner announcement went just as expected, what with the audience cheering the loudest during this team’s introduction! Random Chikibum emerged as the rightful winners of this year’s Comedy Hunt while winning everyone’s hearts with their relatable sketches.

Apart from the main award, Royal Challenge Sports Drink also presented all the finalist teams with their Royal Challenge Bold Moves Award and a golden opportunity to work on a film project with RC! Luck was certainly in their favour owing to their bold moves!

All in all, it was truly a funny and enthralling night, packed with the right punches and innuendos. And I wholeheartedly thank Team Royal Challenge for making me a part of it.
