Can cleansing balms cause spots and blemishes?
Cleansing Balms are popular way to clean your face as they dissolve and lift dirt and make up without stripping the skin. However, some people are questioning whether these products can cause spots and blemishes or acerbate acne.

ORGANIC SAFFLOWER OIL
Safflower oil is known for its quick absorption. It has a comedogenic grade of 2, which indicates it won't clog pores or feel heavy on the skin. It is most suited for oily and acne-prone skin types since it lets air penetrate the skin and aid in the natural cleansing process. It does not clog pores and does not leave the skin oily, making it ideal for Acne & Pimples. It may be used as a moisturizer to hydrate and moisturize the skin. Stearic acid in safflower oil not only moisturizes the skin but also has great cleaning capabilities, since it may unclog pores and eliminate accumulated debris and sebum. Furthermore, it alleviates acne-related irritation.

how many makeup tutorials actually tell you to at least clean your face and hands a little bit first???? i haven’t watched any in years and years but i remember them usually not telling you that (other than jenna marbles’ drunk makeup tutorial in which she explicitly advises “do NOT wash your face or you might drown” — in that context, it makes sense to avoid that) and i feel like a lot of people just haven’t thought much about that aspect…. starting with a clean fresh canvas and all……
#even just a wipe or a toned cotton round is better than nothing#the latter shrinks the pores so the makeup is less comedogenic#just get that surface grime off…. it’s like painting a dirty wall

I found a website where you can type the ingredients of the skin product you're using and it tells you whether they're comedogenic or not and if there's an irritant in there as well. The site is in Spanish but I assume it can be easily translatable by your browser.
But it case it's not, I translated it for you
Once you click Verify, it brings you to this page:
The mildly comedogenic ingredients are in yellow, moderate in orange, and high in red. The irritating ingredients are in blue.
The two "warnings" on top are the conclusions the website reached, the yellow one says this product is potentially safe, except if the case my skin has a strong tendency to get obstructed pores. The blue one says it can be irritating, especially in sensitive skins (you can't see all the ingredients here, but the last one was parfum, which is an irritant).
The website also said products that have comedogenic ingredients are usually safe as long as those ingredients aren't within the 5 first positions on the list.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dermatologist nor do I know anything more than the average person about skincare, I'm just an acne sufferer who thought this could be of use to people like me. And I hope it is!!
Here's the link to the website
#acne#skincare#skin care#I've been having bad acne since the pandemic because of the masks and it went away a bit but now it's come back#and i think it was because i started using a moisturizer with sesame oil which is moderately comedogenic and it got BAD. the worse it's been#i stopped using it and my mother asked the pharmacist one day what products would be good for me and they recommended a cream and it got#better immediately. but it's not gone yet#they told us i could get checked by a dermatologist at the pharmacy and i went today (it's free) and they made a skincare routine for me#gave me samples to see how it would go before i bought anything#and they told me to use a non-comedogenic sunscreen and asked me whether mine is#and it says nothing on the package. like explicitly saying non-comedonegic#so i tried searching for the brand on the internet and ended up finding this website
