I’m so happy you like my waterpark au!!!

I’ve always had a huge love and appreciation for theme parks and themed entertainment (plus waterparks are really nostalgic to me!) and I thought screw it I’m combining my two favorite things, the dca and waterparks, and making an au!

And yayyy so happy you like the designs I really wanted to go all out with their theming without making them to complicated to draw haha.

Im currently trying to write the au and I’m so excited for it but this is also my first time so please be patient with me :)

It makes me so happy to see people actually interested in my silly water boys and I love hearing about other people’s fond memories of going to a waterpark it makes me kick my feet!!!

6. This is a tough question, since the characters are the best part! I think, if I had to pick, I was most indifferent to Rin at first, but she's obviously grown on me quite a bit. I never disliked her as a person, to be clear, I just didn't find her that interesting as a character and I didn't really "get" her. She just seemed kind of skittish and tragic. But writing her, even a little bit, has helped me understand and appreciate her and how complex her personality is.

10. Agh, also a tough one! I'm not sure I'm articulating this the way I'd usually state a theme, but the fact that Tohru needed the Sohmas (and Arisa and Saki) just as much as they all needed her is one of my favorite parts of the story, and I think, combined with the story it's telling about the bonds becoming a curse, there's some thematic resonance there.

14. I really just love how layered it is, and how it soothes my heart (even if it is always after breaking it). There's just so much richness, I don't think I'll ever finish absorbing all it has to say. And specifically, I love the symmetry in the storytelling. I love how it makes us question the things it tells us by showing us two sides to every coin. People need unconditional love (what Yuki, Kisa, Kyo, and others all needed from Tohru), but that unconditional love can also turn toxic (see Akito/the god and the bonds). "You cried for me" can be sweet and hopeful (Hatori with Mayu or even Momiji with Tohru in "Ask Him For Me") or sinister, as with Ren and Akira. The dualities are everywhere.

sdfjsdkf i've pretty much done so extensively here and marginally here and in fear of yapping more than i already do let me just explain my jason villain theory and only that..ish.. i don't have all the receipts/quotations from the book bc i'm lazy but anyone can factcheck me lol. but. the GIST of it is that you can easily read jason as percy's foil simply because that's how we're introduced to him - as a literal equivalent of percy jackson. but rather than an equivalent it always felt like he fell more into being his antithesis instead.

you've covered it in your original post plenty, that jason is what you'd call an industry plant (lol). he's given the tools, he's set up in ways that plenty of demigods (especially in the big 3) are usually not, what w the patron goddesses lupa + hera and being looked to for leading since he was extremely young bc of his dad, etc. essentially, yeah. he can't fail. and he doesn't really. he does everything right. child soldier employee of the year award yayyy. so it bears weight that percy, who was quite literally set up to fail from the start because of his circumstances, worked (arguably) twice as hard as jason did over the course of his books to receive just as many accolades as jason did on his own time at camp jupiter.

plenty of times in the books, people's perception of jason/their anecdotes never really matches up when you read his perspective or any of the other seven. it isn't natural charisma to be charismatic only when called for, which he is. and in moa when he and percy meet, it always feels like he's taking percy's lead when they do the goofy machismo thing. he's fine with mirroring himself to people's expectations bc that was what he was raised for.

now all of this combined canonically builds to nothing. but seeing it altogether really feels like the perfect kind of build for a resentment that we never see in him. and the first thing that locked me into this as an actual theory is the entire hercules-piper-jason interaction with the cornucopia in moa. i just reread that and was struck with how strangely riordan worded certain things, specifically:

Hercules was a bitter, selfish jerk. He'd hurt too many people, and he wanted to keep on hurting them. Maybe he'd had some bad breaks. Maybe the gods had kicked him around. But that didn't excuse it. A hero couldn't control the gods, but he should be able to control himself. Jason would never be like that. He would never blame others for his problems or make a grudge more important than doing the right thing.

this chapter was interesting because someone (guy with horn forgot his name sawry) directly told piper to be wary of sons of zeus/jupiter. it ended up that this warning really was nothing at all for her and jason's arc, because in the end he was the one to die saving her. but read the two paragraphs again!! why is the structure so odd and foreboding!! riordan picks up plot points and drops them in hoo at his leisure all the time, but the direct jump from the last line of that paragraph chiding hercules's anger against the world versus jason's ability of self-control felt SO jarring to me on my reread since it felt too emphasized. and i realize it's because his arc is built around the idea that he is the embodiment of control, so the thought of its natural opposite - chaos - isn't far behind.

if jason "lost control" (whatever that entailed) that would be a true completion of his coming of age arc. and i think it was such a lost opportunity that we never received it - in either him defecting from either camps in some way or an actual refusal of the call trope (also notably something percy has been known to have done once or twice, but never jason). and lastly, it would be a direct rejection of what his life was originally given up for - the gods and fate and the society that raised him to be like this. he would finally be able to choose something for himself in a way that mattered to him. jason probably being a terrifying evil villain for our protags to face is just icing on the cake.

anyway have any of you ever thought about how Jason was raised by wolves and then an army and told he had to be the best so he became the best, made himself the best using his experiences and power, who has to prove himself time and time again to the people who made him, and then he meets Percy Jackson who, with almost none of Jason’s training, without having been raised and molded into a leader, is better than him

Percy Jackson, who had a childhood, who had a mom, who seems all the better for it. Jason can finish his quests and missions and get a pat on the back and congratulations for bringing honor to the Legion and nothing else because that’s what’s expected of him, while Percy gets hugs and cookies and tears of relief and so much love because people had been hoping he’d succeed, not because it meant victory, but because it meant he'd live.

all of the things Jason’s gone through to make him that perfect leader and soldier feel like they were all for nothing because he looks at Percy Jackson and sees that perfect leader and soldier and none of the things that made Jason good are what made him great

My inspiration for “Don’t You Love Me?” came from two shows actually, Mr. Robot and Jessica Jones 😁 I wanted a character that was the complete opposite of Steve, both in personality and way of living 😁 So I thought a female character with a great knowledge of technology as well as a flaw that was not very common in stories I’d read so far could be interesting 😁❤ 

For Twisted, it came from Prodigal Son! I started watching Prodigal Son around the same time I started on Criminal Minds, and I thought the idea of a murder mystery combined with romance would be fun 😁❤

Hi Everyone, With the new Sonic Trailers out and my unbelievable Hive mind Connection with Some of Sega's greatest and brightest staff, Allow me to once again Try and Predict the premise of the next Sonic Game or Sonic things.

I am so incredibly sad to say that I have successfully guessed tons of Sonic plots and ideas. Though since I never got the opportunity to post anything for several different reasons nobody will believe me.

That's cool though at this point not really mad or care that much. I have come to terms I'm being discouraged from pursuing any related Career stuff I had wanted to pursue in the area.

Just for the wall so far

1.I created a Tail Transforming character (Based off of tails) all the way back in like 2008-2010. Her Name Was Sammy. She also had two tails like tails but her main perk was it transforming into different thing. I did actually post about her in amino once prior to tangled release.

1A. Fast Forward. Tangle. A tail Transforming hero. Crazy

2. I had really wanted a sonic fighting game. Like I could totally see how one would happen. Had never heard of sonic the fighters prior. Pretty much had the idea around 2010

2A. Bam Rise of lyric. Sonic Fighting game. Wow. Incredible. How could this happen.

3.ahh heres a good one. Around 2011 while I was still doodling and spriting my sonic comic/animation series storylines and plotlines, I came up with this villain that would force sonic and my heroes to go to different worlds (through portals)and battle to win each one before they could finally face him.

One of the world themed was a zombie apocalypse, I liked the idea of someone like Sonic or shadow getting infected because someone with their speed would be hyper fast and make for an interesting dynamic in a Mobian themed apocalypse.

3A. Fast Forward and holy tarp. How in the heck. Zombocalpyse. I admit since I never got to refine my idea they definitely worked it out better. But a male villain who forces the crew to go through portals until they can finally face him? With a give or take here or there that's pretty much the premise of the Idw comics during that era. At this point it had happened already so much I wasn't even surprised.

4.You can't tell me there Is more. So in one of my fan stories I had come up with different wisps(I still have a few new ones I just made) but one of them was pip that alpha wisp, actually posted about this on amino. Basically he gets stronger the more he uses his power. But in one storyline they had to go underwater so I gave him a little Diver suit to wear. That gave me the idea to maybe give the wisps other apparel. Quite recently I thought about giving them little hats and things

4A.Guess.Heckin. What. New trailer drops. Wisps with apparel. I realize it's not the most revolutionary of ideas but are you kidding me.

This isn't even scratching the surface of all of them. But I decided heck, clearly I'm not getting anywhere why not try and guess the new Sonic Game plotline and Sonic movie?Who knows maybe I'll crack open one of their secrets first.

So first in line, the game.

Sonic Colors 2 not the remaster of sonic colors 1.

Sonic Colors two takes place right after Forces. Since the phantom ruby either fritzed out or exploded it sent Eggman in the wisp galaxy. He only ever grabbed a few planets before via tractor beam but now he's in the whole system. So he decides to give the wisps another go. Except this time, he wants to awaken the great Wisp or "The World Devourer" (Cough Cough MerloW?) after he finds ruins talking about it.

Once again Needing his aid and turning to Sonic and Tails with his now perfect translator, Wiz Sonic and Tails must now explore the other planets in the wisps solar system in a race against Eggman to stop him before he releases the The World Devourer.

While on this subject prepare for even more wisps and even more planets.We already know there are other wisps we haven't seen planets for thanks to the wisps in lost world. All on all I think this is a pretty likely explanation. Might see wisps combinations like we had in sonic simulator maybe not.

Now onto the sonic movies! Won't spoil too much but here is what your lineup is probably gonna look like if they continue to succeed.

2.Sonic,Tails,Knuckles and the first Chaos emerald

3.Sonic Tails, Knuckles, Maybe Amy, all the other chaos emeralds and Perfect Chaos. Yep the whole second movie is a setup to perfect chaos trying to flood earth. Ah so we might get Tikal back! Yayyy

4. Shadow the edgehog. It's only natural, he comes next in Game order anyways, plus we have already seen what Gun is willing to do to get sonic. Literally hired robotnik.

5.This is actually my sister's guess but Silver and Blaze. I think it's a pretty solid guess.

Happy STS! Can you tell me more about your WIP?

Thank you! (I am late, and I'm blaming computer trouble today but the truth is I'm useless yayyy!)

Ahaha yes, I do need to do something about that. However, have the unadulterated truth:

My current WIP is in its infancy. I have a *very* vague idea for the plot, and currently a handful of characters. Two of those (Dash and Raleigh) I've been playing around with in different universes (all my own), and I've finally found one where I can take all the bits of them that have emerged and basically combine them. That was the jumping off point.

Stats so far: it's contemporary fantasy, a world similar to ours after a War between humans and what they derogatively call the brainbent, or people with advanced mental abilities. Some of those abilities are genetically dominant, and the humans (placeholder name: fundies, for fundamentalists and also they're rich) therefore have tried to stamp them out. They're using religious ideology as an excuse (the Bible says man was created X way) and have more or less regressed to the more toxic tenets of fundamentalism as a result.

The brainbent (placeholder name for themselves: psycheberal, portmanteau of psychologically liberal) are quietly gathering forces, putting a lot of faith in a shadowy and perhaps mythical figure known as Dantalion, supposedly a Coercer - a very rare type of psycheberal that has the ability to control minds.

Current plot is essentially Raleigh meeting Dash, who's a Partner (placeholder name for supportive of the psycheberal) and Raleigh as a result beginning to question his beliefs, just as someone who claims to be the fabled Dantalion emerges and begins to encourage the nascent rebellion.

(This is why I don't have a WIP page yet; I'm horrible at condensing information. :D)

But yes! That is the main gist of what I have so far. Obviously there's other characters/themes/bits and pieces I haven't mentioned here, but with any luck it's enough to pique some interest! :D

Grad Student Support Group: Week 6 (today!)

Oh hey again ;) 

Didn’t it seem like I just made a post about this? That’s because I was super late from last week and wrote about it this morning (oops!). Today was a bit of a struggle for me. I was 5 minutes late to the group session and I haven’t been sleeping very well the last few nights, so I wasn’t particularly chatty. There were only 4 of us today, and we caught each other up on what we’d done over spring break (lol “break”). Then when we did our weekly check-ins, I mentioned I hadn’t been sleeping well and we got on the subject of dreams. 

I have extremely vivid dreams, to the point where I can remember long stretches of what happened down to the very fine details. I used to have a dream journal  where I’d write down my dreams and even sometimes I’d draw things I’d seen. I still can look back and remember those so clearly! Sometimes my dreams are so real that I wake myself up if they are particularly scary. The last few nights I’ve had stress dreams, either about unrelated things, or like last night, I dreamt that I was in lab doing some protocols and it just kept repeating over and over and I couldn’t get out of the loop. At one point, I woke up slightly and thought to myself, “What the hell do I do to make this stop. Think of something else, anything else!”, but I fell right back into it. Pipetting things FOREVER.

The other thing that happens to both me and my husband is that we wake up slightly but are still dreaming/hallucinating, and usually talk to and interact with the other person. It’s usually about scary or stressful things. For example, oftentimes one of us will wake up and start yelling (grunting?) like we see something on the wall or ceiling and are trying to wake the other person up so we can get the hell out of there. Sometimes when we’re hallucinating like this the person will even physically jump out of bed and run into the other room. It’s not until one of us turns on the light to see what the hell is going on that the semi-sleeping person wakes up fully and comes to their senses. 

Usually it’s something like a giant bug on the wall (I am scared of bugs :G) or thinking someone or something is in the apartment like, “What’s that over there?!” (when there is just a wall or door or something). Occasionally it’s something random like thinking the ceiling fan is falling on us, or the walls of the apartment are crumbling down. 

Yayyy invite me over to your slumber parties people, I’m a lot of fun ;D

Anyways, we talked about stress dreams and if other people get them, and also how we interpret our dreams (what we think they stem from). It was pretty interesting, and definitely made me aware of the fact that I don’t often have “nice” dreams where I’m surrounded by puppies or hiking in a forest or anything. Most of the time I’m running away from something chasing me, or I go to an event and realize I forgot something important, or I’m at work and I’m trying to do something impossible. Or something totally random. But it’s always heart pounding or it’s weird or some combination of the two. I think I need to start meditating before I sleep or something!

Week 3: 15/10/21

The last of the Friday workshops for Unit 5 :( I have really enjoyed these Friday workshops creating pieces that have been and will further my inspiration for the different components i have to create for my final print and pdf deck. Today i also made onto campus as the weird bug i had last week decided to leave yayyy!! However there didn’t seem to be as many people in the class as there was compared to a few weeks ago when i came in...

Today’s workshop was focused on creating a mood board by undertaking a number of tasks under timed conditions. The outcomes of each timed task helped us to create guides for the visual language and design of them items required for the deck and print.

First of all we started by writing a short paragraph about ourselves and our practice which i will be using to inspire my about me segment that i have to include for the print and deck as it is always an important part to a folio.

Next we had to collect 3 images that reflect the tone and mood of our practice. For this i went to my favourite application ever created... Pinterest!! Everyone has mixed opinions on it but it is the best creation made. I have over 1,000 saved pins and it is where most of my inspiration comes from even for every day life things! I chose 3 illustrated images that shows happiness as this is the way i feel towards my practice (99% of the time at least). As well as images i also chose 3 songs that helped my creative grind on this day.

Thirdly we collected 3 designers or artists work that inspire us and our practice but as i had done this research this week to go towards my project i only briefly looked over other designers and artists but i knew who i would like to showcase overall in my submissions.

Fourthly we chose a colour palette of 3 as well as black. Even though i had chosen a colour palette in the week 1 workshop i wanted to show more bold colours as they are what i like to use when it comes to creating folios to make everything more interesting in my opinion. Of course i chose white and black like i mentioned before my liking to but i also chose an electric blue and hot pink as these contrast well.

Next we had to choose two typefaces for text and captions. This one was super easy as i like exploring bold texts as well as simple texts and combining the two so for my captions i chose a bold font called ‘cocogoose’ and for the next i chose a typewriter-esc font called ‘andale mono’. The contrast between bold and simple texts makes it easier to realise the separateness. These are the typefaces that i will be using for my print and deck outcomes to show consistency. These type of texts heavily inspire me as this combination is what is commonly used in design magazines.

Next we had to choose 3 key references from our growing collections that reflect us and our practice to which of course i ran straight to Pinterest for again. I was speaking to one of my tutors about the application as sometimes i worry i shouldn’t be using it for inspiration but he assured me i wasn’t the only one who loved it as much as i did. For this i chose to reference possible layouts of existing magazines that i could use for inspiration of my layout for my printed deck.

Lastly we put all of these tasks together to create our moodboards and this is how mine turned out...
