Something interesting I noticed in Starcrushed

But Toffee only does some kind of sinister chuckling/quiet maniacal laughter when he’s facing Moon. Up against the rest, he’s silent. But when the cavalry first walks in and he’s standing over a knocked out Moon, he’s laughing. And Moon is revived and fighting him, he’s laughing.

What that means, I’m not too sure of yet. Maybe he’s gloating over getting one over the woman who took his finger. Maybe Toffee’s just gone bonkers being a wand (or was always bonkers) and the laughter is meant to reflect that.

… Maybe he’s happy to be fighting Moon, maybe he enjoys their combatage. Or maybe it’s some kind of nervous reaction, maybe he’s not that happy at all, and it’s more hysterical laughter then maniacal laughter.

*mentally replays the soft smile and fond tone when Toffee said in Storm the Castle, “It was the first spell your mother taught you.”*

It’s probably the always bonkers theory, but hey. I can dream.
