hiii! tysm for your kind tags on my post-canon lemon post (i keep re-reading them) <333 i really wanted to draw from canon and not make stuff up so your tags mean a lot! tbh i have so many ideas for lemon, including her relationship with the boys (she'd be besties with finn and surprisingly lance too! she goes to the farmer's market with dot. and mash would confess to her but she wouldn't get the hint lol) i'll making more posts as we speak haha and ty for all your lemon posts/sets, they always make my day! do you have any ideas for lemon?
I love your post-canon Lemon headcanons so much, thank you for sharing your ideas as well! I like how your ideas are very connected to what little information we have about her in the canon, so it all makes sense!
This ask has gotten a little long so under read more!
I like the idea of how the tables are turned (after Mash does not get a hint about Lemon's feelings in the original series, eventually the situation is flipped over and Lemon is too serious in doing her job when Mash confesses so now she ends up not getting the hint!), it's very satisfying! I want to know more about your ideas about her relationship with the boys! I'm sure it's gonna be fun to read!
It's not a problem! I like Lemon as well and I have fun making simple gifsets of her, and I'm happy to find someone who likes her as well! I love all of your pastel-colored gifsets too, they're all pretty and I adore all of them! I always love pastel-colored gifs, I often find them in bigger fandoms but they're a rarity in small fandoms like this, so your gifsets make me so happy! Thank you so much!
I do have some ideas about Lemon! Though I don't feel really confident sharing them until I feel it's "polished" enough if that makes sense, because I'm afraid of making her out of character hahah. It's just how I am! I wrote a fic of her, but it's from Finn's perspective and it's just how much I want them to be friends and how I imagine their friendship would be! It's here if you're interested!
Other than that, my other idea about her is that the final battle changed her. After the battle against the Innocent Zero, Lemon realized that she couldn't do much when Mash really needed her help. Deep inside, she was frustrated that as her future wife, she wasn't able to directly protect him on the battlefield as his heart was taken away. Her possessive nature was increasing, but that was merely a facade to hide her internal frustrations and how much she blamed herself for her helplessness in the final fight. She spends so many sleepless nights crying over it.
So, she hones her magic secretly, she asks Kaldo's help for his guidance because she knows from Finn that his magic has been greatly improved after his training with Kaldo, so from that she secretly trains with Kaldo as well. So much to the point of overworking herself and that's when Mash finds out. When Lemon collapses and Mash carries her to the infirmary, Lemon apologizes for making him worry, explains what happened, and says that as a future wife, she wants to be on his side and helps him whenever he needs it and becomes the first person he can rely on. After that, she properly confesses her feelings to him instead of forcing it like how she always did. Mash, who still doesn't understand romantic feelings, appreciates Lemon's great effort for his sake, but he is worried about Lemon who works too hard to the point of falling ill. So, in exchange, Mash will take care of her as much as he can until she feels well again. Unfortunately, the best that Mash can do is to remind Lemon to eat and drink her meds at the right time and offer cream puffs, but Lemon appreciates the gesture.
I also have a MashLemon idea, separate from the above: I think the reason why Lemon is very bold at expressing her feelings is because she knows damn well that her feelings won’t possibly be reciprocated. The person she loves is a kindhearted, physically strong young man with no thoughts head empty only cream puffs. There’s no way he would know things such as love and marriage, nor would he care about it. Especially after she visited his house, which just reinforces her assumption. That’s why she can be extremely bold with her feelings and advances because she knows he won’t answer her feelings. Even if deep in her heart she wants him to see her as more than just a friend, she knows it will never be possible.
This is why when he DOES respond to her advance, she gets extremely flustered and confused about what to do. Of course, as soon as he shows even the slightest hint of that, she would immediately punch him in the face just like in S1EP8 to deny that. She did that because she knew Mash wouldn’t lift a hand to stop her even though he could. This is why when he DOES hold her fist as she attempts to punch him in the face with little effort, and says: "You’re right, Lemon. We should get married.", Lemon is left speechless with her face now dyed in red due to embarrassment. She cannot reach out to her wand to cast a spell. Besides, knowing him, he would break free anyway, it’s pointless. When Mash gets a hold of both of her hands, his yellow eyes staring right at her as if he really means what he says--he’s bad at lying anyway--when he does reply to her feelings... Well, needless to say, Lemon doesn’t expect this outcome, and she’s running out of tricks.
There's also another idea of Dot properly confessing to Lemon and putting a resolution to his unanswered feelings, and what Lemon actually feels for him, but it's not polished enough so I can't say much.
But, yeah, I guess that's it! When I have ideas that I feel are "polished" enough I often immediately turn them into fanfics, but right now I'm in the "writer's block" phase after writing lots of them lately so I can't write much at the moment, and can only put some scrambled ideas.
It's really fun talking about Lemon with you!

I could ask all of these but I'll limit myself.. 1, 10, 21, 23 for Valerie? :3
Thanks for the questions! I will never be annoyed about too many questions about Valerie.
Ask game here.
01 are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?
Absolutely. The color scheme of prosperity. Actually, the color I associate her with most of all is burgundy, but red and black are definitely up there as well.
As an Arasaka employee, she makes a point of wearing the corp's colors as much as possible, especially while working or representing them in any official capacity. Hell, she even dyes her naturally black hair into a burgundy color at the tips.
While working as a merc, she expands the color scheme of her wardrobe, but the more she plots with Goro and the more she starts feeling like she's close to having a way back into Arasaka's good graces, the more those colors start cropping up in her wardrobe with increased frequency, something Johnny and Goro both notice. Johnny reacts with distaste, and Goro sees it as a sign of her allegiance which makes him trust her more.
10 if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem?
Her overall style is definitely exactly how neomilitarism is described—"deadly elegance without ostentation."
Most days, she wouldn't wear any jewelry because she wants to be prepared for possible dangerous situations and it has the potential to get in the way, but if the circumstance is appropriate, she'd choose something that essentially looks like the type of thing a dictator in a sci fi movie might wear. Understated and geared towards exuding power.
She prefers silver because it matches her complexion better since her hair and skin are cool-toned. She wouldn't know her favorite gem off hand because it wouldn't have occurred to her to have one, but if someone asked, she'd pick a black one like onyx or opal.
21 their favorite place to be?
I actually have an entire gifset series based on this, so it is really hard to narrow it down to just one place.
She loves the area around Arasaka Tower, especially at night. The holographic fish, the AVs zooming around, and seeing the Tower itself in its rightful place over it all.
She loves her apartment in City Center, and especially Leia, who is totally 100% canon and not at all a mod. When she rented the apartment, they mentioned that the old owner had left an engram cat with a holographic presence there, and they assured her that they'd get rid of it before she moved in. The idea of an animal engram was extremely intriguing, so of course she asked if she could keep it. It still baffles her that someone could love a creature enough to immortalize it but still abandon it in the end. But Leia's adorable and needs infinitely less maintenance than an organic cat, so V gladly keeps her around. She also loves everything else about that apartment and the lifestyle it represents, from drinking bourbon and smoking while putting on an old school record to having some fresh brewed tea in the morning and watching the sun rise from the large windows.
She loves to visit Jinguiji in Downtown City Center to gossip with Zane. She loves to walk around in Reconciliation Park or the Arasaka Waterfront, she loves to visit the stores and resturants along the skyways in Charter Hill... and any number of places I could go on and on and on about but then this would never end.
23 how would you describe their voice? can they sing?
Highly animated and energetic. She talks a lot, and she speaks quickly and with a ton of zeal. She has a formal vernacular and a large vocabulary. Her voice is husky. It's naturally low pitched and she's been a heavy smoker for many years, which even with high tech medicine, has affected her voice at least a bit.
And, yes, she can sing. Surprisingly well, actually. She does sometimes, in the shower or along to a record in her apartment or the radio in her car. She's an alto and her singing voice is husky too. She sounds like Brody Dalle or Otep Shamaya.

DEBRIS AND MISERY
CURIOUS MINDS THINK ALIKE ; PART 5 / ?
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Loki Laufeyson x Female!Reader WORD COUNT: 3.1k SUMMARY: Through guessing games and walking on eggshells, it’s you and Loki that dance the strange choreography of two curious minds trying to figure out the other. A/N: Slow moving chapter! If any of you speak Norwegian and know that sentence is wrong, please tell me! I took a risk, not sure if it's worth it. Anyways, I promise there’s more stuff coming in the next chapters. Tell me anything about this chapter, what you love, what you hate. Enjoy xo gif from this gifset by@marvelheroes WARNINGS: Swearing? More paperwork. support my writing through ko-fi💖 MASTERPOST ; MASTERLIST
The narration of Miss Minutes accompanying the grainy animated graphics of a training video on how, why, and when a branch of a timeline is reset seems to be the source of Loki’s absentmindedness. If he is typically referred to as outrageously and mostly unnecessarily communicative, it is his mind that beats his mouth—the tumult of his thoughts is loud and overwhelming like the people who amass at taverns every evening to drink themselves silly whilst singing jolly drinking songs until the wee hours of the morning. Except, his thoughts are far from jolly. He, mastermind of language and a silver-tongue, has no words of any language to describe the complexity of his mind with accuracy.
Kraftig regn som faller i en fossende elv.
Like heavy rain falling on a cascading river. Water from the sky on water streaming through the ground—thunderous raindrops from above against the river that strikes every rock of every winding turn.
Those were the words of his mother.
Maybe, that’s how his mind should be described.
It’s the mechanical creaks of spinning wheels against the polished floor that pulls him out of his thoughts and finds that he had been staring blankly at a page of men riding jet skis of a magazine he'd nipped from the stack of junk on Mobius’ desk for the last minute or hour. A second or a day? He isn’t sure.
Time works differently at the TVA.
“Hey Casey,” he hears you chime, the cart squeaks as it pulls to a halt. “Do you have a paperweight or something I could use?”
There’s a sound of rummaging as the clerk searches the drawers. Loki restrains the urge to look.
“Uh, yeah...Here.”
“Thanks.”
Probably an infinity stone.
The clerk then wheels by, pushing the evidence cart as he casts a cautious glance his way.
Right. He did threaten to gut him like a fish earlier on although the threat was not as deadly as he intended but proved to be surprisingly effective. Yet, Casey is probably the type to be afraid of his own shadow, he would comply with any sort of threat even if it isn't death.
Pathetic. But amusing.
The training video continues to play in the background, and Miss Minutes’ stupidly charming and cheery voice is starting to sound like gibberish to him. At this rate, it’s white noise to him—attention elsewhere but somewhat listening to a certain extent. He loves multi-tasking and isn’t afraid to admit he’s great at it though it likely plays a huge factor in contributing to the uproar of his brain. It’s why he doesn’t get any sleep for most nights.
There’s just...so much to think about.
And now, it’s filled with the reminder of how you met another version of him. Somewhere. Sometime. An inferior Loki, obviously.
Suddenly, the jet ski magazine becomes less interesting, his mind fleeting.
Discreetly, he spins in his swivel chair and sees you through inked writings and diagrams on the glass partition of your cubicle. Your coat’s discarded, and you have your sleeves rolled up, looking less formal, less tense than before. Yet, still as fierce with that constant scowl of your brows. He watches you bring your fingers to scratch the left side of your cheek and notices a vague resemblance of a fading scar.
He hadn’t seen that before.
The glowing orange hue of the soul stone sits idly on top of a stack of papers beside you.
Loki makes some sort of contemptuous noise in his mind at the sight.
The TVA is a strange place. The thought of a cosmic organization that overlooks all of the time doesn’t make it any less weird and neither do the uniforms—dull color combinations and collars that never seem to end. And the Time-Keepers, well, he isn’t sure what to make of that. Things are a little too straightforward, too simple for handling such a complex matter of the universe—Time. It doesn't make sense.
You spark his curiosity. You had a connection with him. Another Loki trusted you to a certain extent. He wonders what makes you so special, that Mobius was willing to try everything to convince you to help.
He also wonders what your name is.
The clearing of his throat comes off as a sudden and disruptive sound that resonates clearly through the somewhat silent environment of the office floor. A subtle way to gaining your attention although it's proving ineffective. You continue to flip through documents, scribbling notes on a notepad.
He wheels his chair closer to you. For a moment, he catches sight of a white mug amongst the mess. It says, 'Rocket scientist at work.' There’s no way a person as intimidating as you have that kind of mug.
He clears his throat once more.
Still nothing. It’s like he doesn't exist to you.
Then, he notes your vague attempt to fight down a growing smile.
Oh. Oh. You—
Hm.
He scooches closer and taps on the glass partition a little too aggressively.
“I know you can hear me.”
His tone comes out in a sing-song manner. Finally, your eyes turn up to meet his. They are different from when you first saw him emerged into the hallway. Less angry and shocked. Now, you just look unimpressed.
Loki somehow thinks it’s a great idea to charm his way to you.
A grin finds his way to his lips, curving widely with oozing allure.
Or so he thinks.
“Pardon me, but I believe we haven’t properly met and I didn’t catch your name earlier on.”
You don’t say anything, only blink in response.
Tough crowd.
Loki shifts in his seat.
“...What is your name?”
He articulates his words with care, and he doesn’t know why he finds it a need to tread lightly around you. Like with a touch, you will transform into a fiery beast from his childhood nightmares and eat him alive.
You and Mobius are polar opposites—personality-wise. It’s a wonder how the two of you get along.
Do you scare him? No. Definitely not.
Do you intimidate him? Perhaps. But, he will never admit it.
Maybe it’s the way you’re gazing at him with that constant, deafening deadpan look.
Then, you finally give him an answer.
“Agent.”
And with that, you're back to scribbling notes on a notepad.
Agent.
Loki scoffs silently to himself.
Well, that turned out to be completely pointless.
He turns his back to you, returning to scanning through Mobius' jet ski magazine within his grasp.
Loki doesn’t see how you’re now staring at the back of his figure, tapping your pen against the notepad absentmindedly.
Curious minds think alike.
-
You needed a change of scenery.
With all the noise of the muffling narration of the training videos from Mobius’ desk, you began to feel like you forgot how to do your job. The only job you were created for. The disturbance seems to be putting your brain into a frenzy and it’s preventing you from getting your head straight on report protocols. Trying to think of better words to describe the things you’ve seen on Sakaar that weren’t words that meant trash and didn’t end up sounding unintentionally sexual, is where you draw the line.
Times are hard for the variant turned analyst.
The archives are serene amid your solitude. Extensive tables hidden between shelves of identical-looking binders that expanded throughout the hundreds of floors of the building. The spot that overlooks the three looming statues of the Time-Keepers is your favorite. The occasional swish of a passing elevator calms your nerves from all the frustration and pressure ever since you were released from your arrest. You’re just happy to be somewhere familiar although it’s not home.
Although all distractions are gone, you manage to find new ones as you gaze at the glowing ‘357’ signage from across the building as you decide to let your thoughts run for just a little while. You feel like you’re looking through foggy glasses and your brain feels like it’s about to shut down any moment.
Dream away the pain, then.
Then, you hear a voice from afar. Two voices. It’s Mobius; you’ll recognize that quintessential Texan accent anywhere from the times he would rave about a new jet ski magazine he’d found on a mission...something along those lines.
Much to your chagrin, you also hear Loki with that irritatingly posh accent of his.
You should probably move somewhere else. Run and hide before you're being pulled even more into this mess because you know Mobius is trying to get you to spend as much time with the variant turned analyst to gain trust.
You’re still not sure how it’s helping with his case. Loki has better trust in Mobius than you as far as you’re concerned.
Before you could even gather the mess of your files, the two men you’ve been trying to escape are already by the desk you’re sitting at. You suddenly notice the stack of files on the other end of the desk, not remembering seeing the archivist putting that there.
Crap.
“Let me park ya at this desk and don’t be afraid to really lean into this work...”
You look like a deer caught in the headlights, signaling to Mobius that you really don’t want to share a desk with Loki. He continues to speak to him, ignoring your silent plea. Then, he gestures to the seat across from you.
There’s still time to leave.
Mobius addresses you with the stretch of his pointer finger.
“You, keep an eye on him. I’m gonna get a snack.”
Well, too late.
With a turn of a heel, you and Loki watch him walk away and pass neverending shelves of the archives. Once again, the two of you are left alone in the silence and the white noise of the TVA.
You meet each other's eyes at the same time, struck with the thought that you and he will probably be seeing each other a lot until the Loki variant is arrested. Plus, you’re tired of giving him the cold shoulder although you believe he deserves it.
This is a different Loki. The one who’s still power-hungry. The one who still wants to rule.
Time to start fresh.
You notice he now wears a jacket, a color somewhere between green, grey, and brown with a striking image of the TVA’s official badge above his chest. The lapels of his jacket jut out in an attempt to replicate his sense of pride and confidence.
He must have been on a trip with Mobius to the Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin, 1985. Oh, how you would kill to tag along. Everyone who knows you knows about your obsession with Earth’s music pop culture, specifically the 1980s. It explains the cassettes you have lying around. Your apartment has more of it.
Unfortunately, you're grounded. That's reality.
Thus, you decide that Loki deserves a second chance because he’s also somehow looking at you for some kind of approval. You’re starting to wonder if this is the same Loki that was tapping aggressively on your cubicle earlier on.
With an open palm, you gesture to the empty seat surrounded by stacks of binders and folders. It's the first time he has experienced some kind of acknowledgment of his presence that you weren’t ranting or screaming about. Oddly calm. Oddly inviting. Momentarily, he shifts in his stance, eyes darting between a fading figure of Mobius rounding the corner and to the seat, across from you.
The air is tense. However, still breathable.
Loki slides into the seat, legs shifting under the desk as it brushes against your by accident. You shoot him a pointed look, and he responds with a coy expression, blinking at you innocently. It’s mischievous.
Classic Loki.
You turn back to your case file, ignoring the way his gaze seems to burn holes into the side of your face for a fleeting moment before flipping a binder open from the stack to his left.
-
You snore when you sleep.
Loki wouldn’t describe it as a snore; it's more of a wheeze. Soft and subtle but it’s there, cutting through the ambiance of the archives, drifting and resonating in his ears. Through turning pages, uttering words to himself for his amusement, and having an irritating lady shush him for that, he realized how it became a lot quieter. The grazing sound of pen furiously scribbling words onto the yellow notepad has stopped.
Then, he hears it. Your pathetic snores. Your cheek is unceremoniously pressed against the back of your hand while the other holds the orange pen that’s still pinned down on the paper, mid-scrawl. The tip of the ballpoint pen sits idly, halfway through the curved stroke of the last letter of the word, ‘debris.’ He cranes his neck, face tilting in an attempt to read the chicken scratchings of your handwriting.
0132: L1190 hauls me through the time door and I miserably land on Sakaar, the planet of wastelands and debris.
You are quite...miserable. In a comical way. And he knows how much you hated your time on Sakaar—Mobius warned him of your apparent irritation in reminiscent of being stranded and then having to resume paperwork immediately. He wonders if he, too, is the reason for another boiling rage.
Apparently, you were pardoned on behalf of not only Mobius but the Time-Keepers as well.
You, an agent, are recognized by the holy and almighty Time-Keepers.
You, an agent, who sleeps with your mouth agape.
The statues of the TVA’s creators loom over him like they’re watching his every step. Every movement. Every lingering thought. Right now, he has the urge to uncover, perhaps deduce, the holes within this whole mess. In a carefully calculated and discrete movement, he reaches to prod you on the forearm. You don’t move.
He prods you again.
You still don’t move.
Now, Loki is trying to chat up the archivist who watches him through narrowed eyes, glasses framing the austere and rigid structure of her face, in favor of files that turn out to be classified.
Classified, classified, classified. Only able to gain access to his own file.
His journey from the desk proved to be useless and unproductive although the much-needed stretch somehow made it a little worthwhile.
When he returns, you're surprisingly still asleep, brow twitching and lips still parted.
Aren’t you supposed to be keeping an eye on him?
The pen you held has now left your grasp, rolled over to his stack of binders. He notices the words inscribed on it, ‘Mars is there, waiting to be reached.'
Through your fury and chaos, he knows there’s a part of you that feels, a part of you that loves. And you love everything about the Midgardians’ space program. It's shown in the way you cling to collected memorabilia.
There are dark circles that adorn your shut eyes, barely hidden under your lashes. You’re exhausted, fractured.
Loki is having a difficult time trying to suppress how he likes the way the frizz of your hair glows against the glowing table lamps from the desk behind you. You’re raw, flaws presented on a silver platter for everyone to see. Maybe, that’s the reason why you entice him the way you do.
He’s staring. Right. Back to work.
Loki returns to running through neverending case files, engrossed in the pixelated monochrome images that accompany the monospace typeface of endless reports.
Then, he sees it.
‘Destruction of Asgard’ in big, bold, and red letters. It glares at him sharply, images of his once divine home of Asgard, crumbling at the feet of Surtur. Buildings, people, engulfed in the flames of the fire demon. The prophecy of the end, Ragnarok—it was meant to be.
His home, it still was. Although an untrue Asgardian.
He knows how it ends. He knows he dies. He wishes his true self, the one on the Sacred Timeline, could have done more.
He doesn’t realize the forming tears that linger. He doesn’t realize that in the sense of premonition, you’ve awakened. He doesn’t realize that even with sleepy eyes, you notice the grief that glints in his eyes.
“Are you okay?”
With three words, you’ve struck him with those eyes that seemed all-knowing. You see through the facade he has created, sealing the true nature of what is truly a child that is afraid of his destiny and to lose all he had ever known. His mother, father, and brother. His people. You see through it all.
You know that face. You’d seen it on Sakaar when he sat at the doorstep of your makeshift home, watching the splintered moon drift through the star-lit sky. You’d seen it in yourself through the dusty reflection of the screen of the tempad.
He longs for home. He longs for family.
For a moment, Loki sees Frigga in your eyes.
Then, his world shifts, hauling him back to reality. It’s you who’s across his way, not his mother. Loki blinks, partly to get his head straight with the excuse to blink away the sting in his eye. He shifts in his seat, rolling his neck and squares his shoulders.
“Yes. I’m alright. It’s just...”
Trailing off, he clears his throat. You follow his gaze and from your spot, you catch sight of those deafening crimson letters. Maybe, it was the spur of the moment. You blame your drowsy state, but there’s a growing warmth that spreads across your chest from the pit of your stomach. It’s subtle, a spark, but evident. Before you know it, you’re uttering words that leave your lips faster than your brain could perceive.
“I’m sorry.”
You don’t know when was the last time you said those words and meant it. Loki doesn’t know when was the last time he’d ever heard those words addressed to him, spoken from the lips of a stranger. Until now.
You mean it. He sees it in the curve of your brows.
Loki swallows, nodding curtly. For the first time, he has nothing to say. And as quickly as the moment comes, he brushes it off and so do you. Whatever is reminiscent of a residing unknown feeling, bubbling within, has disappeared.
He sees your hand reach for the pen and for a while, he thinks you’re about to reach for his arm.
But no, you’re back to scrawling notes on the paper and he’s back to studying useless documents.
It doesn’t take long for the two of you to fall back into your normal antics as you find yourself chasing after Loki, who abruptly left the desk with wide eyes.
Curious minds think alike. Mostly.

the lovely @younqjo tagged me to choose my top 5 favorite creations ♡ tysm lucie
idk what to say this was SO hard actually as im typing this im having a little gay panic moment because i have 10 finalists and only 5 slots .... this game is so ruthless... anyway let's do this
NUMBER FIVE : soyeon ♡ beam beam
if you've been following me for a while then you know the colors in this set are surprisingly different from what i normally work with ! maybe that's why it has always stood out to me as one of my favorites i've made
NUMBER FOUR : seea ♡ poison
a no brainer for me . i made sets for each of the girls from this stage , but this seea set lives in my head rent free tbh . i think it was the first time i kept coming back to watch my own gifset because it was just so pretty to me !
NUMBER THREE : handong ♡ 下雨天
my favorite girl in the whole universe of course she had to rank here . besides me being extremely biased here ... i really like this one as well ! it would have ranked higher but there are a couple gifs in this set that i don't like as much as the rest , so it's a solid middle point between a set i don't love that much and a set i love w all my heart !
NUMBER TWO : yuqi ♡ giant
it sparkles ............ i'm pretty proud of this one i think it's super pretty . when i learned how to make gifs Sparkle i made a couple sparkly sets , but none of them are as cute to me as this one . absolutely deserving of the second spot i wouldn't give it to any other set over this
NUMBER ONE : shuhua ♡ hann
okay . this one was probably obvious cause i had this pinned for FOREVER . but you have to understand that this coloring was a work of pure magic . im not even kidding , look up this performance on youtube and look at the horrible disgusting blue light then come back and look at this set ... i achieved god status when i made this no other set past or future will dethrone this set as number one for as long as i make gifs
and that's my ranking ! shout out to all the finalists who couldn't make it ... i won't list them cause that would be cheating but just know they're in my heart as well . i'm going to tag @unnaturaels @chawoongs @isachaes @ryudaeng @dahyun @ateezgf @cchuu and @she ! but feel free not to participate my little angels

2020-2021 Animation Watch(ed)list
I haven’t posted about animation in a while that I remember, and I know a lot of my followers are into it as much as me so I decided to make a list of the animated movies and series I watched on the past year or so, coupled with my short, spoilerless take on them. Enjoy!
Organized by
Things I saw for the first time
Things I rewatched
Under a cut for the sake of your dashboards! PS: I have not added any images yet. If you are interested in knowing more about the visuals of these movies, I might make an old fashion ask-prompted imageset list.
Part One: Things I saw for the first time
The Bear’s Famous Invasion of Sicily
Movie, 2019, Italian/French
9/10, a delightful little movie with amazing visuals. It feels like an animated picture book.
One of those “plot is in the title” media! I had never heard of this before but was heavily recommended it by my family members, who all loved it! It’s a sweet story, nothing groundbreaking but the unique colorful visual style alone makes it worth it.
The Castle of Cagliostro
Movie, 1979, Japanese
10/10. Reminded me of all the books i loved reading as a child
I assume its because it’s so old and the art style and themes are so different that it gets little to no love compared to other Ghibli movies, which is a shame! It’s fun with an endearing cast and as always, great animation and music
Mushishi
Series, 2006, Japanese
10/10 three episodes in I knew it was going to be my favorite series ever
One of the few things I’ve seen I’ll describe as life-changing. It’s absolutely lovely but never toots its own horn about it. Humble, calming, emotional and surprisingly mature. It’s pretty impossible to binge due to how intense the experience is. I just want to walk in the forest now...
FMA: Brotherhood
Series, 2009, Japanese
6/10 Dissapointing adaptation of a classic story
I read the manga for this when I was in middle school and remembered loving it. The animated version does an ok job of presenting the characters and worldbuilding and has some nice action scenes but overall looks really damn cheap and just. Not very good. Seeing I already knew most of the plot I did not have the element of discovery that made me marvel so much reading the original. It’s still a nice series but I really recommend reading it instead.
Code Lyoko (s1+2)
Series, 2003, french
3/10. 1.5 being for the opening song alone
This show sucks ass if I hadn’t been watching this with my bestie I would have dropped it two episodes in. The art style is ugly the stories are always the same and the first season has a (later removed thank fucking god) LITERAL “erase any consequences” button as a plot device in every episode. If you watch it for one thing let it be the nostalgia factor of early 00s Vidya Game Plot
The Legend of Hei
Movie, 2019, Chinese
7/10. Impressive visuals and a poor story
I finally watched this, peer pressured by the load of gifsets on my dashboard! It’s a sweet movie with really impressive animation, sometimes a bit too flashy for my taste (the action sequences go so ham they become not very readable...) but the story was just ok? The setting is barely explained and you are instead bombarded with vague epicspeech about powers and stuff that made me fondly remember Kingdom Hearts lol but that asides it’s a really good time! I need to watch more Chinese movies the few I know are just delightfully off the shits in how they approach action and I love that
Hunter x Hunter
Series, 1999, Japanese
9/10. Superior to the recent one!
I first got introduced to the series via the 2011 one. Comparatively, the 99 series focuses way less on action and way more on the characters, which I love because that fits my personal preferences! Despite mediocre filler episodes and some weird slight pointless plot changes, what it changes from the original manga doesn’t have much of an impact on the characters. The animation quality isn’t always consistent including a huge art style change for an arc (???) but it’s overall pretty nice. The series really shines in the last arc it adapts.
Oban Star-racers
Series, 2006, Japanese/french
9/10 a lovely surprise
This series is completly obscure despite having been created by people famous for their other series (Cowboy Bebop, Code Lyoko that i can name) and it’s a crime! It’s a kids show but without being stupid about it who tells the story of an inter-planetary race. If you liked that one scene in the star wars prequels you know what I mean. It’s got surprisingly nice animation for a TV series, and some truly great character design. The art style is a bit unique in a not for everyone sense, but I didn’t mind it much. It’s also THE most offensively 2000s series i’ve seen in terms of visuals. y2k kids assemble
The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon
Movie, 1963, japanese
8/10. Classic fairytale format with incredible visuals
Watched this for the art style because I know it inspired Samurai Jack, and it delievered! I dont’ have much to say about this one, it’s a very simply film but it’s sweet. For my pirates out there if you want to find it in good quality with english subtitles it’s VERY hard to find. If you just want to see the looks of it, it’s on Youtube with portugese subs.
We now enter the Gobelins Shorts Zone....!
My Friend Who Glows In The Dark
10/10 makes me cry each time
Pure delight...great animation writing everything. A little short about death and friendship but not in the way you imagine!
Colza
9/10
Visual treat...homely and nice :) not far from a 10 but a 9 because nothing about it is that groundbreaking
Sundown
9/10
If you’ve ever been ten minutes from failing a group project because of a single dude you will REALLY enjoy this. Loved the colors and personality
T’as vendu mes rollers?
10/10
It’s SUCH a sweet little short I loved that one so much
Dix-huit kilomètres trois
10/10
Surprisingly well written dialog. Visuals are great but the humanity of the characters carries this to another level
Un diable dans la poche
9/10
Amazing visuals and the most tense/creepy of Gobelin shorts i’ve ever seen. Chilling
La bestia
8/10
I had some issues with the pacing. Interesting story and visuals choices but I was not fond of the art style
Goodbye Robin
5/10
Confusing but predictable. Both at once??? Yes!
Le retour des vagues
6/10
Cool animation stuff but felt pretty pointless
                                                                ***
Part Two: Things I rewatched
Ruben Brandt: Collector
Movie, 2018, Hungarian
10/10. Underrated as hell
Watched this fully blind for the first time in an animated festival and rewatched it with friends. It’s a crime I never see anyone talking about it given the amount of whining I see about the lack of both adult animation and 2D movies? This film is a unique love letter to art in the form of a weird mix of charming crime story and psychological horror with amazing visuals. I recommend watching it blind and also buying it to show appreciation for how nice it is!!! WATCH THIS MOVIE...
Mononoke
Series, 2007, Japanese
10/10 Visual/storytelling masterpiece in the weird shit departement
If you can stomach intense stuff watch this. The visuals are incredibly unique and beautiful and under the jewel tones and art direction high takes it’s a really cool horror series. My only obstacle to enjoying it the first time I saw it was how dense it is - simply put, it’s so...culturally Japanese it’s not very accessible to me who doesn’t know anything about the culture? Watching it for the second time helped understanding the stories more!
Corto Maltese in Siberia
Movie, 2002, french
9/10 but really close to ten. A great adaptation!
I’m a huge fan of the original comic so I entered this a biiiittttt suspicious it would suck but it was a really pleasant surprise! It has all the wonder and charm of the original and the animation was surprisingly good for the little budget. If you’re not familiar with the series, it’s a sort of geopolitical action/adventure movie but with it’s own really poetic vibe to it. It’s almost impossible to find online but happens to be fully on YouTube so go ham I guess?
Redline
Movie, 2009, Japanese
10/10 cinema was invented for this, actually
Every review of this movie i’ve seen gives it five stars and starts by talking about how immensly stupid it is. I’m no different. It’s a masterpiece of escalating energy with the depth of a puddle and it fucking rules. It’s free on YouTube too so there really is no excuse to not watch it. Watched it for the first time on a huge cinema screen and despite this my second rewatch on my small laptop was as/even more enjoyable. If you watch this stoned with friends you might travel to another dimension
Spirited Away
Movie, 2001, Japan
10/10 deserves the love it gets
I watched this a single time as a kid and had little memory of it! I mean it’s Ghibli you know it’s going to be good as hell but this one rly shines in how colorful and detailed it is and in it’s world! It made me remember I had a huge crush on the dragonboy as a kid. I’m gay now
Kung-fu Panda (1&2)
Movie, Usa
10/10. KFP fucking rules
Honestly my favorite franchise of the whole disney/dreamworks/pixar hydra. It’s fun as hell, doesn’t skip a single beat and has amazing animation and character designs. If something is a good time I will not care if it’s deep or not and boy I fucking love these movies
Sinbad, Legend of the Seven Seas
Movie, 2003, Usa
5/10 Some great some really bad and overall generic
I tend to hate american cinema and this includes that era of animation I have no nostalgia for. Sinbad is in a weird place because I love adventure stories and the visuals of the movie absolutely deliver but it’s very predictable and TANKED by the addition of the female character, pushed in your face as “look we have woman!!!” despite her writing being misogynistic as hell lol. The evil goddess rules tho. This movie would have been a solid 9 if instead of the girl the two dudes had kissed

17, 34 & 37 for gifmaker questions :D
hi ani :D
17. 10 sets, 8 sets, 6 sets? how many gifs to you prefer in a set
oh good question, i more typically prefer 4 sets bc it’s less work 😆 if you take a scroll through my gifs (ignoring all the 2020 series gifsets) you’ll notice that i usually work with 4 sets, which are usually tall or wide gifs!
34. a set that took you a long time/was really hard but you’re really proud of how it came out
omg this question, there’s a few that come to mind, there’s the lwj bday set i made, the wangxian cql x manhua set, my mdzsnet gtkom set, and surprisingly also my cql sects x scenery set (coloring was a bitch i redid each gif at least four times)
37. what sets if any do you have planned to make in the future
i recently had a bit of a slump in gifmaking (esp on my kpop sideblog, i havent posted anything in a while oopsie) but suddenly it’s like i opened a well of ideas in my head bc i have at least 2 gifsets planned for here, which is another wangxian cql x manhua set but in red, and the gifset i’m currently working on which is going to be sad as hell (i think you might have seen that i’m gonna do a spriffing for one of the gifs on the discord!) and as for my kpop sideblog, the group i ult is having their third year anniversary in exactly 20 days and i just got around to making the first 4 gifs of an 8 set to celebrate their anniversary ^-^

rwby color trailer analysis!
yes, i’m still here! i’m sorry i’ve been inactive--i’m a sophomore in college and this stuff eats up my time more than i’d like. but i do have a treat for you: some short analyses of the four “color” trailers for RWBY! as recommended to me by @hon-b, who i can’t seem to @ for some reason. i need a break from finals work so here’s some good ol’-fashioned critique talk~
so let’s start out with the Red trailer. the opening shots of this one are straight-up beautiful. and the fight scene with the grimm(?) is really nice... surprisingly violent for something i thought was intended for teens. i like how it’s a red riding hood parallel, especially since i don’t think we’ve had enough fairy tale references yet and the lack of them is starting to stick out. watching ruby wield that death-gun-scythe-thing whose name i can’t recall off the top of my head is just fantastic! we’ve even got a red-black-white color scheme going throughout the video to tie everything together. i think the vocals are still kind of wonky though--the singer’s clearly having some trouble hitting the high notes. there’s not a lot of substance here since it’s basically just an extended fight scene, but it seems to exist to get people hype for the show and it does that super well so i’m not gonna fault it for being a little shallow. my rating: tumblr gifset-worthy! also why do the links to the white and black trailers work at the end but not the yellow one wtf
~
moving onto the White trailer now... so this one opens up with a quote... and even a little bit of dialogue. it’s a little distracting after the complete lack of speech in the red trailer, but i guess it works. weiss’s singing is very pretty--the high notes are spot-on this time, which is awesome!--and the opening visuals are beautiful. not that i want to question the music too hard, but isn’t the “mirror, mirror on the wall” thing referencing the evil queen? at least the instrumentation is gorgeous here, especially the opening piano! i’m not sure if the elaborate fight scene is necessary here, honestly. a fight scene works, yes, but here it’s so dramatic and tense that it detracts from the music. i get that it’s supposed to be a contrast with the opening and ending scenes, but it’s a little too strong of a contrast for me. the fact that the bloodstain on her face disappears at the end is even weirder; like, was that supposed to be an illusion, or something she was thinking about? what i do like, though, is the final visual of weiss curtsying in an empty space--the applause rings hollow. as the lyrics of the song state, she is truly the loneliest of all. i guess this one tried to be a little deeper than the red trailer and it shows. nice work! my rating: beautiful music, needs some work with the transitions. weiss’s weaponry simply isn’t as cool as ruby’s and that makes her fights less interesting to watch for now. the link to the yellow trailer still ain’t workin’
~
and now for the Black trailer! alright, so we're opening up with another quote. these quotes feel a little too abstract to mean anything at this point, so they might not be necessary, but we'll see. i'm not impressed with the fact that blake doesn't get to do her trailer on her own like ruby and weiss did. also the music is subpar at best, and definitely the worst of the ones i've heard so far. the electronic parts just don't work for me, at all. on the plus-side, the scenery is beautiful, but we spend portions of the trailer inside a train car where we can't even see it! as cool as a fight scene on top of a train is, i don't think the trailer really shows off what can be done with it. i just recently watched the incredibles 2, which has an awesome scene of elastigirl trying to stop a train--coming to this afterward is pretty disappointing, even though i obviously don't expect rwby to be pixar-level. the dialogue here is really hammy and phoned-in, especially with adam. i really don't like the fact that it's here at all, actually. the red trailer didn't need dialogue to tell its story, and it could've been removed in the white trailer too. so why is it here when it absolutely doesn't need to be? also... where was the fairy tale parallel here? did i miss it? my rating: Unnecessary Man Appearance. let blake handle it herself, dammit. or at least don't have him speak because his voice makes me roll my eyes big-time. ALSO THE LINK TO THE YELLOW TRAILER STILL ISN'T THERE
~
finishing up with the Yellow trailer. yang has a lot to live up to here, being the last of the four to have a trailer. and unfortunately hers follows up on the black trailer's trend of unnecessary dialogue. the voice-acting isn't as bad as the black trailer's, but there's more of it and it doesn't need to be here at ALL. especially with the two girls yang fights--they didn't need to speak, or really do much at all. their appearance takes away from yang's badassery, just a little bit. so does her whole crotch-kick thing, which feels unnecessarily comedic and kinda pointless. it feels as if they tried too hard to make her "cool" and it just comes off as awkward and forced. on the plus-side, the scenery gets WAY better the moment yang steps into the club (walk into the club like waddup i got a big...uh...heart), going back to those nice color schemes from the other trailers. and my favorite thing about this trailer by far is the music--i love the remixes of the other girls' themes and how they build up to a fantastic theme for yang. once again, though, it's hindered by the dialogue. i'm still not a big fan of the voice-acting in this show, and ruby and yang's exchange at the end absolutely doesn't need to be here! honestly i'd rather just see yang look up, meet ruby's gaze, and then give her a kind, knowing smile. that would do a lot more for us than a cheesy bit of talking. i guess i've hardly talked about the fight scene here, so here's how i feel about it: HELL YEAH HELL YEAH HELL YEAH KICK ASS OUT THERE my rating: would be my favorite trailer if it weren't for the dialogue. also, if this is supposed to be a "culmination" trailer and ruby and blake appear briefly, where did weiss go? did i miss her? so many questions!
~
so there you have it, folks. just some casual musings on the color trailers. no individual screenshots or anything because these are too isolated and there isn't much i can comment on. but overall i liked them and i think (aside from the wonky dialogue and such) they're a great way to get you hyped for the show! now if only the show would follow their example and try to be a little more, uh... intense? maybe?
see ya later! and sorry for the wait! i’ll try to be more active soon, i promise! -russell <3

kuzu no honkai/scum’s wish rating: 9/10 recommend: yes with caveats (it has a lot of sex scenes and some squicks) plot: everyone sleeps with everyone for all the wrong reasons
Funny the last one I picked up this season is the first one I finished. I surprisingly, really enjoyed this show. I was suckered in by the pretty gifsets and a promise of a gay subplot, and it did not disappoint on either one. The art is gorgeous and the expression are hyper-realistic. The gay subplot is treated with the same gravity and standards as all the other ones are. I went in with no expectations beyond those two, yet it ended up being a solid show with mature material that was handled seriously and complexly. And most importantly, and the reason I rated it lower before but promised to revise, it had an extremely satisfactory ending, which is one of my highest point earners. The characters definitely grow on you, there’s marked and substantial character growth in most of the characters, all the relationship are addressed and resolved, some in unexpected ways. There’s no magic ‘love will change you’ in this series and is is not a shoujo, so if you get your heart set on ships and get angry about them not being canon this is not your show.
Interviews with Monster Girls rating: 7.5/10 recommend: yes but may be boring to those outside the intended audience (slice of life/high school setting) plot: 3 high school girls and their 2 teachers navigate being physically different from everyone else
I watched this while bored because I thought it sounded cute and on a MLP level of understanding. At first I was seriously concerned it would get squicky on the teacher-student level fortunately we’ll save that sort of thing for Scum’s Wish haha. The girls are very charming (including the teacher Sakki!) and the protag is quite likable if a bit bland. The animation is bright and cute but not particularly high quality but it doesn’t really need to be because the plot is slooooooooow. This show is very clearly intended for a specific audience and will not appeal outside of it. I found it adorable simply because I was a teacher for 3 years in Asia and it reminded me of my beloved (and naughty) students as well as the hilarious school hijinks. The humor is [mostly] clean, the shipping is very low and some fairly deep thoughts about the ethos of science and discrimination are tossed in there. I’ve seen a few people comment that the dude teacher is too involved with high school girls but it honestly didn’t seem too out of line from how teachers are/what school culture is like in my experience? I think that’s a mileage may vary thing.
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid rating: 8/10 recommend: yes but with warnings plot: Japanese office worker gets drunk and acquires a dragon who becomes her maid and brings along other dragon friends
I fully expect to be bitched out for this rating, since most people adore this series and praise it to the skies. I’m going to say right off the bat that the main plot for this show is extremely wonderful, endearing and heartwarming. It is suffocatingly cute and I loved it enough to watch the show to the ending. And it makes up the bulk of the show, as it should. Also, the most of the humor is pretty funny, especially the satirical bits making fun of fanservice and the every day occurrence gags never get old to me. The cast is very colorful and likable and the animation is on point. The things I thought I might have problems with are fine (Tohru’s enthusiasm could have swerved off too far) but... there are some serious pedo vibes in the subplots. The anime does a fairly good job downplaying them around Kanna the kinder child-dragon in the loli outfit but it doesn’t even try to cover up Shouta (shota haha get it?? eww), who is an elementary schooler that is constantly assaulted by an adult to the point where he has nightmares. There are some other things that you’ll either pick up on or you won’t (apparently they’re blatant in the manga but edited out of the anime thankfully), but that’s my personal squick issue with the series and it is bad enough to knock the series down a rating. It you take it purely at face-value and don’t think into it hard, it’s worth a watch. If you tend to get upset about badly misplaced humor about things that shouldn’t be jokes you are probably not going to enjoy this series as much as you could.
Bonus series!
Tanya: The Saga of Evil rating: 8/10 recommend: no - you will either really enjoy this a lot or hate it plot: arrogant human pisses off a god and the god goes to elaborate lengths to teach humility
Very heavy on military stuff, and there’s a big focus on psychology and philosophy. The art style is rather unique and the main character is not remotely lovable. Niche anime. Just my style. But not light or fun watching.

DEBRIS AND MISERY
TRUTH AND LIES ; PART 3 / ?
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Loki Laufeyson x Female!Reader WORD COUNT: 3.5k SUMMARY: You and Loki make a trip to the open market which leads to a flurry of thievery, arrests and an almost death. A/N: Hey hey, I guess I’m just updating this series on no porper day because I’m a bitch for procrastination wohoo! There’s so much going on in this chapter, probably a little too long but I hope you like it <3 gif from this gifset by @hiddleston-daily WARNINGS: Swearing, laser rifles, electrocution, intended execution, Loki being annoying. support my writing through ko-fi💖 MASTERPOST ; MASTERLIST
“So, what do you propose?”
Loki questions, walking beside you through the winding pathways of the outskirts of the city of Sakaar. Stalls propped up on stilts, colorful fabric hung overhead as a shield from the blazing sun of the afternoon. He’s dressed like a Sakaarian, drapery of vivid and bright colors, similar to yours—both passing through, hiding in plain sight amongst the crowd of contrasting species.
The place inevitably stinks, living up to the planet’s nature.
Yet, it’s a world of textile mania. Everywhere he looks, there’s a pop of color, radiant and brilliant. Whether it’s the clothes of the locals, the paint that adorns the structure of their faces, or the streaks of blue and red cascading down the walls of the city in the glimmer of the sun.
Your eyes seem to glow in the reflection of the sunlight; the shawl conceals the crimson scar well enough—barely recognizable in your disguise. Your gaze meets his. “Well, I propose we steal one of the Grandmaster’s ships. They're the only ones that are strong enough to enter the Anus.”
Loki flashes you a look, “You have to stop calling it the Anus.”
Your rapid steps come to halt at the foot of a stall, an extensive table with miles of crates filled with an array of vegetables and fruits. Some wiggle their way through the crowd of customers, some rigorously examining every blemish of each fruit while others attempt negotiating the prices with the distraught-looking vendor with a face of sapphire.
It’s a pastiche of a Pieter Bruegel painting. And the two of you are seemingly animate characters at the center of it.
Loki trails closely behind you—much to your dismay— shouldering a two-headed lady by accident, both heads snapping at him with blazing eyes. He mutters an apology as she quickly disappears into the crowd. He turns and nearly loses sight of you, instantly shouldering his way to stand beside your figure as you hum with amusement, brows raised. Your head tilts, eyes on him once more. “Oh, I’m sorry. Would it help if I called it the ‘giant red hole’ instead?”
He blinks. “You have somehow made it sound worse.”
You hum once more, cautiously gazing at the hectic vendor. “It’s one of my many talents.”
With a swift motion, he follows your fingers that delicately pluck one of the odd-looking blue enlarged berries from the stand, sliding it into your stash in a matter of a split second.
He’s almost impressed.
“I suppose thievery is one of your many talents.”
It’s both a question and a statement—Said in a tone of near mockery. Loki is starting to get on your nerves with the unnecessary commentary on every decision you made that led the two of you to this very moment—a routine you’ve repeated for years before his arrival. Oh and he’s well aware of the growing aggravation towards his sheer presence. It’s a feeling he’s no stranger to. It feels like home.
Your once monotony interactions are now turned into a muse for Loki’s own entertainment.
“Look, you really don’t have to announce and narrate every aspect of your silly observations like we’re in a stupid play. Especially, when I’m doing something that’s fairly frowned upon—”
“Fairly frowned upon? Really?”
A groan escapes from the scowl of your lips. You look like you’re about to kill him.
“Just shut up, for God’s sake.”
You snatch him by the wrist, forcing your way through the sea of Sakarriaans. Your grip is surprisingly firm—he scoffs, twisting his arm out of your grasp almost in a child’s manner. “Would you stop that?” he says as you lead him away from the bustling crowd, a corner where two perpendicular buildings meet. You turn to him in a somewhat exaggerated attempt to express your resentment towards him, pulling the shawl away, revealing your face as you hold your pointer finger to him like it’s a weapon. Loki instinctively staggers back in his stance. “No, you stop that!” you hiss, advancing towards him. “I told you not to mess with my shit and what you did there, that’s messing with my shit.”
Again, he finds himself caught in the act of your fury and frustration. He quickly notes that you seem to have an uncontrollable temper, and it’s unpredictable. You’re living in a constant predicament, one slight prod and you’ll burn, spontaneous combustion and you’ll burn right through everything, God or not.
You sigh, caressing your cheek. “I’m sorry, it’s just...I’ve been alone for so long and this,” You gesture between the two of you, “I never thought it’ll be possible to experience this again.”
Loki arches a beckoning brow. “Which is?”
You blink once, then twice, pursing your lips. “Company.” you punctuate it like it leaves an unpleasant taste on your tongue—you’re embarrassed to reveal a side of vulnerability. Like you have been in a constant fight to build the walls around you, to keep your guard up at all times, no matter the circumstance or cost. Whatever happened between you and the Grandmaster, destroyed the remains of your personality, your ability to feel like a human being and coping and living with the knowledge that you will never get off this planet and never return home for years. You deserve a fraction of his reverence, not sympathy.
Forced into the realm of independence with no one to cry out to. Your life oddly and eerily reflects his. He can’t help but feel that maybe it’s fate that hauled him out of the Bifrost, sending him flying into Sakaar and crashing into the very home you reside within.
His mouth runs dry for the first time because there’s nothing to say. You apologize even when you don't need to and the part of you that protrudes is your honesty—a part of you that differs from himself. You’re truthful, even to a stranger. Nevertheless, he nods.
A yell from a distance captures your attention, a man on the other end of the pathway that leads to the markets, dressed in the armor of red—a Sakaarian guard, armed with a laser rifle. The guard, unfortunately, might recognize you, with your face out in the open. Your scar makes you stand out like a sore thumb. It’s every criminal’s nightmare.
You discreetly turn your head towards the wall in a desperate attempt to hide your identity even though you very well know, there’s a significant chance it isn’t going to work. Your figure is now close to his, he can almost feel the erratic beating of your heart. You’re...afraid.
The sentry on patrol nears the two of you, expression unreadable, concealed under the mask of red strokes like warrior paint. His voice is low, authoritative. “Everything alright here?”
He must have noticed the commotion during the heat of your argument, perhaps recognizing the tone of your voice which does not help with the plan the two of you are drafting to get off this planet, or maybe, he is just genuinely concerned. The latter seems improbable by the way the guard stands, hands hovering over the trigger of the rifle.
Loki decides it would be best to negotiate and pretend everything is fine. He would much rather avoid a fight because he would hate for you to end up dying as a prisoner in the arms of the Grandmaster. Well, because you’re on his way out. Nothing more.
He turns to the sentry with his usual charming smile, palms raised to indicate he means no harm. It's an image of vulnerability. The guard seems to relax at this, fingers moving away from the trigger of his weapon although his posture remains sturdy.
He’s alone, no other guards are lurking nearby. If anything were to happen, at least it will be two against one.
How foolish.
“Everything is quite alright, kind sir. It’s just one of our...common little spats, nothing more. The missus says I don’t give her enough attention and well, you would know how that turned out—”
You nearly choke at Loki’s words. Out of all the possible reasons, he chooses a lover's spat as an excuse. An incredibly absurd and petty lover’s spat.
Now, you're his fucking missus.
The armored man is unfazed by Loki’s charm; he doesn’t seem convinced. He turns to you, gesturing to your figure with his rifle. “Show your face, ma’am.”
Loki is quick to step in. “Sir, I believe that would be rather embarrassing for her. You see, she has been crying, and it’s not a pretty sight. Red all over, bloodshot eyes—you know.”
You roll your eyes. Now, all you want to do is send your palm flying across his face. Hard.
Once more, the guard doesn’t completely believe Loki’s explanation.
Loki turns to you discretely, extending his open palm to you. He whispers lowly. “Do you trust me?”
You simply shake your head.
Nevertheless, you take his hand.
Before you know it, you’re being hurled by the arm, head first and now the two of you are in a full-out sprint, spinning, and weaving from every pedestrian. Your shawl is long gone, Loki has magically switched back to his original Asgardian outfit. The sentry tails behind the two of you, close enough to hear him speak through the telecommunication device attached to his armor. “It’s the girl—Scrapper 170!”
The two of you dive down an alley, the sentry starting to gain. Loki turns to you mid-sprint with an exasperated look. “Scrapper 170? What is that supposed to mean?”
“Now is not the time, Loki!” you groan, voice trembling with every land of your quick feet against the ground. The sentry halts and aims. A flash of purple passes you by an inch. You duck instinctively, feet stumbling and your hand leaves Loki’s. The laser beam crashes into a wall, leaving a massive hole in it. You hear a woman shriek from the other side through the hole.
You round the corner, catching the glimpse of not one but three guards running after you. You instantly spin away to see Loki just about a meter ahead. You power through, catching up to his side. The alley breaks into a clearing, leading you back to the open market that teems with the same hectic and rowdy crowd of Sakaarians. Another shot fires at the two of you; it blasts like a hand grenade—the crowd screams. Loki is shoved away from you and with a turn of your head, you completely lose sight of him. Another blast of the rifle, you duck in time as it hits the crate of fruits behind. You kamikaze down the little avenues lined with vendors and shops, careening through the labyrinth. There’s a sentry at every turn, emerging from the crowd, behind the counter, tent flaps, and crates.
Amid the chase, you halt at a dead end. Behind you, the guards are catching up. At the corner of your eye, you spot Loki on the other side of the market, a few stalls away. His eyes are wide, and you’re trying to catch your breath. You step forward, ready to make his way to him when suddenly you hear something tick by your ear, then a wave of excruciating pain burns throughout your body—muscles spasms all over, you could barely control your own body any longer. Then, complete darkness as you felt your knees give out, face hard to the ground. The last thing you heard was your scream.
-
Maybe, you are meant to live your life filled with events of deja vu—a life of full circles and time loops. Maybe, you are meant to live a life of crime with the constant disability to learn from your mistakes, having been caught on numerous occasions because as soon as your brain awakens from its weakening of electrocution torture, there’s a familiar sense of aftermath pain, the sight of colorful grand walls, the feeling your hands cuffed to a rock metal chair and the grinning smile of none other than the Grandmaster.
You are stuck in a cycle, and you’re never breaking free.
The Grandmaster calls out your name with an almost chilling enthusiasm to his tone.
“At last, we meet again, 170! I’ve missed you, you know. You, uh, you really were something, huh? Intelligent. Pretty. Brought me lots of great stuff. Like that guy—What’s his name? Oh! Ares, God of war. He was a brilliant champion. Now, look at you. All dirty, disgusting and that hideous scar, ugh—” The Grandmaster cringes, gesturing to your figure with that melt stick of his. You flinch as he nears you, deciding how much you hate that shimmering golden robe. “Though I’ll have to admit, you are good at hiding. It’s almost annoying...Do you agree, Loki?”
He turns and you follow his gaze. Loki stands by the corner, looking almost sheepish. Your eyes are now immense, face painted with hurt and betrayal albeit you don’t necessarily demonstrate it. Loki averts his gaze to the Grandmaster. “I suppose.”
The silver-haired man laughs with a wagging finger to him. “I like you, Loki. I really do.”
You cringe at his words. He turns to you, smile gone.
“Hey, now you are going to tell me—I mean, really tell me—who exactly you are and where you’re from.”
You spot the furrow of the God's brows. His voice is faint, like the time at the market, asking you to trust him. “Is she not from Earth?”
The Grandmaster seems to be taken aback by Loki’s sudden question, narrow eyes bouncing between the two of you. Then, his mouth curves into an apparent ‘o’. “Oh, I see what’s going on. Wow. You actually believed that little story of hers? That she’s from a planet called Earth and an astronaut? Oh, you poor thing,” He speaks through his chuckles, amused by Loki’s expression of bewilderment.
So much for being truthful.
“You know, I always have the intuition for liars like you. So, there was no way you could have faked it all the way through.” His attention is on you, but you’re too busy looking at your unlikely ally or you dare say your partner's unreadable manner. Blank face. Usual posture. You hope to spot a hint of sympathy or sadness in his eyes. There’s nothing.
You can’t save yourself and neither can he.
You, after all, betrayed him in terms of your unknown identity. It’s expected he wouldn’t do the same. Yet, this is Loki getting a taste of his own medicine. If it weren’t for your imminent death, you would find this situation rather amusing.
“So, are you going to tell us the truth?”
Your gaze returns to the taller man. “No.”
You’re not sure how to feel about that single word being the last word you speak.
The Grandmaster blinks then shrug coyly. “Oh well, that’s quite a pity,” he moves around, gazing at the surrounding guards, hand on his hip. “So, uh, we’re doing this, huh?”
No one in the room moves or speaks.
He sighs, extending the melt stick to you. “Yeah, okay...See ya, then!”
You shut your eyes, ready to succumb to the pain of being liquefied. You wonder if it hurts and that the past victims you have witnessed were being dramatic as they screamed for the end of their lives rather than the pain itself. In all honesty, you’re terrified although you believe you shouldn’t be. Death is inevitable, after all, and you’ve been prepared for many years, living in hiding.
This is it. This is when you finally rest.
You miss home. Wherever that is.
“Wait!”
Your eyes are wide open, they fly to Loki who has his arm stretched out, nearing the Grandmaster. The melt stick is inches away from your face. The Grandmaster spins away from you, attention directed to Loki. “Really, Loki? I was so close to having the pleasure of melting her!”
For an Elder of the Universe, he could erratically act a lot like a child. A child with an obsession with control and murder. Psychopathic child.
You observe the two enter an argument of whispers and dramatic hand movements. Then, the colorful psychopath in that hideous shimmering coat swivels in his stance, gaze at you as a heavy sigh escapes his lips. “Fine. I guess I don’t have to know who exactly you are. On behalf of Loki here who seems very keen on keeping you alive, you are pardoned,” Your mouth flies open in response. “But! I’m putting you on probation. 142 will be keeping a close eye on you. So, yeah. Lie to me again and I’ll have you executed for real.”
The Grandmaster walks away and your wrists are released from the cuffs of the chair.
Loki retains that darn smirk on that charming face of his.
-
The slave quarters seem huge from the last time you were here. In comparison to your unstable shack of a home in the outskirts of the city, anything cleaner and brighter than that shithole was enough to fulfill your heart’s desire for an ideal place of residence. It’s the same room you occupied before you fled and went into hiding. You recognize the markings on the wall, roman numerals, hidden in the corner by your bed, counting the days since you arrived on Sakaar. That was years ago, maybe a decade—you lost count.
There’s a knock on the door; it swishes open to reveal none other than Loki, dressed in a different but relatively similar outfit to his original Asgardian clothing. It’s blue instead of green. You abruptly decide you like the way it brings out the specks of blue in those irises of emerald.
You cross your arms. “So, I assume you got caught, but I want to know how the hell did you not get this thing?” You tap the obedience disk on the curve of your neck. His smile curves into a smirk. “One word: Silvertongue.”
Your snort, nearing him. “That’s two words.”
Loki simply rolls his eyes. “No, it isn’t. It’s two—it doesn’t matter.”
That deafening silence wave over the two of you. You purse your lips.
“Why did you save me back there?”
The God blinks, shoulders squaring. There’s a sudden tension in the air.
“Well,” his head tilts as he clears his throat, trying to form the right words. He wets his lips. “If someone manages to trick the God of trickery himself, maybe that someone is worth saving.”
His response startles a distinct silence from you—the silence of awe and contemplation. He says you're worthy of saving, a sentence you never thought you’ll hear from the man who crashed through your roof and proceeded to be threatened with a dagger. The man who seemed to have some sort of inclination and ambition to annoy the death out of you. It’s bizarre how life works, how two diverging lives end up intertwined with one another in the most unlikely circumstance, and how time truly heals. It mends the wounds of the lonely, the ones who were told they were never enough.
Maybe scarce and scarce turns out to be enough after all.
You see yourself in him, a complex mind and a misunderstood heart. It’s frightening how you somehow understand, and you somehow don’t simultaneously.
People are complex. Life is complex.
He watches you with that same look when he initially heard the vocals of Freddie Mercury.
You’re no Freddie Mercury, you know that.
Your voice cuts through the silence. “Thank you.”
Loki seems to snap out of what felt like forever, responding with a curt nod.
“I’ll see you at dinner then,” he says, backing away into the hallway as he readies himself to leave. “And please, wear something better than that hideous heap of trash.” He gestures to your figure; your clothes are rugged and filled with dust and sand.
It’s your turn to roll your eyes.
“We can resume our plans to getting off this planet after that,”
With a smug look, he spins on his heel and leaves. The door closes with a whirring sound. You feel heavy.
And God, you need a drink.
You quickly locate the drinking glasses, in one of the cabinets above the kitchenette. As you rummage through the rest of the drawers and cabinets in search of a bottle of something, a soft hum from the other side of the room catches your attention.
Your figure spins and you’re met by the sight of a group of materialized armored soldiers, clad in black. You heave a profound sigh of relief, a grin curving upon your lips.
“You guys finally found me! What took y'all so long? I’ve been stuck here for ages—”
“It appears to be a standard sequence violation.” one of the armored men say with an A-50 scrawled vertically on his helmet in orange.
You furrow your brows, feeling your heart stop. “Wait, what—”
“On behalf of the Time Variance Authority, I hereby arrest you for crimes against the Scared Timeline.” Hunter A-50 speaks. There’s a wave of sympathy flashes upon his expression. “I’m sorry.”
The cup falls to the floor, shattering into serrated pieces that surround your feet. Your heart begins to pound. As the other hunters grasp onto your arms, you are hauled through the translucent glowing doorway. Then, you hear the words of A-50 that struck your heart like a dagger.
“Reset the timeline.”

You were once a fighter.
Hunter E-87 was the name you once knew, hollered through different fields and dimensions in time and space. You fought for what you thought was right, pledging allegiance to a cosmic establishment that held all power to a single timeline and never questioned the works of the Time-Keepers. The Sacred Timeline is indeed sacrosanct, too important, too valuable to interfere. You fight in the name of the single thread of time, the bark of a tree, forbidden to bare branches of a potential multiverse. You fight because the thought of alternate timelines used to scare you. Yet, if alternate universes were meant to be, the lives you took and destroyed are now in the grasp of your bloody hands. You hold the responsibility of the death of the innocent, taking part in mass genocide.
But promises must be kept.
The thought constantly haunts you in your sleep. You have dreams of death, war, destruction, and famine from across the universe. People seem to glide like specters in the world built by your imagination and mind. You have seen a lot, more than any being in the universe should, but no one talks about the aftermath of witnessing the tragedy of the universe as time goes on and on. No one talks about what it does to the mind. Music from cassettes and the wonder of human space exploration were distractions to cope with the grinding hole in you and the fact you might be turning truly crazy.
Sometimes, you would like to be human—Fewer problems and less time to live.
You blame the sickening and bizarre vivid images that come and go whenever you close your eyes as a symptom of being a hunter. The others are stronger than you. Well, they act like they are. Becoming an analyst made you sleep better but there was always doubt. Sakaar made you doubt.
Doubt makes the strong weak. Doubt makes you weak.
“You startin’ to have doubts?”
Green eyes. They watch you with curiosity with a hint of amusement. You hear yourself hum. “Would it be bad if I said yes?”
He laughs. It’s mighty. “Yeah. Definitely bad.”
A beat of silence. You feel your eyes start to sting. “I couldn’t even tell my mom.” A laugh escapes your lips despite the hurt you feel in your chest. “Did you tell anyone? Your wife?”
You see him now, blonde hair slicked back and deep-set eyes. He shakes his head. “Nope. Not even my wife.”
“She’ll be proud, you know.”
“I know...So will your mom. Jesus, you’re gonna be the first woman on—”
Wake up.
“—Is she dead?”
The voice is familiar. It pulls you back to reality but right now, your eyes are too heavy. Doubt is the first emotion that waves through your brain before the process of pain can even occur—uncertain if you are dead or alive.
You can’t feel your limbs, they are too weak.
Doubt makes the strong weak. Doubt makes you weak.
Maybe, you are dead.
“This is your fault! You’re the one who swung that sword of yours to her head! You’re careless—”
Sword...Sword...Careless? You remember a train, a fight.
“Oh, I’m the one who’s careless? You’re the one who’s drunk!”
Drunk...Who was drunk?
Then, your voice echoes in your head, images of a certain brunette with a deep frown. He called you a mewling quim. You quoted Hávamál. You then left him and wandered through the other cabins of the train. He blew his cover. He got you into a fight.
Loki. Loki Laufeyson.
Son of a bitch.
Your eyes are wide open now. All you see are the faces of Loki and Sylvie, looming over you. Just two floating heads. Then, the pain arrives, coursing through the entire back of your head. You wince in immediate reaction and the floating heads turn to you in an instant.
What a way to wake up from a concussion.
You remember everything now, but you certainly don’t recall being on the outside of the train. Must have gotten thrown out. The thought angers you, irritation practically boiling to the brim. Yet, it’s your fault. You hadn't thought to babysit the very person you wish were dead. As your palm grips onto the dirt beneath, muscling all strength left to lift yourself. Your head feels light and heavy all at once. Not good.
“Are you alright?” is the question that flies from Loki’s lips, tinged with an emotion you never knew he had for another but himself—worry. Whether selfless or selfish, you wish to ignore the complexity of Loki’s reactions and possible change in character, especially towards you. Ever since you stepped foot on Lamentis, all you felt was pain. You have never been injured so much within the last few hours than in your entire life and weirdly, you feel fine.
Sylvie is quick to stand, watching the two of you work in tandem. His grip finds the curve of your shoulders as you stick your hand out to grip him by the bicep. At your touch, you notice how his arm stiffens ever so slightly. You don’t say anything.
Some things about Loki are best left unknown and unanswered.
Today is filled with a lot of getting off the ground in the most unceremonious way possible.
A deep exhale leaves your lips, wisps of your hair drifting with the brutal breeze from your nostrils. Beads of sweat trail along the curve of your forehead and the back of your neck. Some entangled with the strands of your hair. Your hands feel clammy and dirty but you run them to push your hair back and away from your face anyway.
“I’m fine,” you mumble, pulling yourself away from his touch.
You finally get a good look at the two. Loki looks like complete shit but Sylvie manages to maintain the regalness to the locks of her hair despite her opposing overall behavior. It’s the Asgardian blood coursing through her veins. You cannot hide your ancestors' blood. It’s hard to believe the two are the same—one being. Yet, it's believable when you’re angry at the two of them.
The two messed up your career, that’s why.
Unbothered and uncivilized. It’s a miracle you’re still alive.
As your eyes shift along the train tracks that meander along a gorge with steep rocky walls that leer above it, you catch sight of a spark by your feet, glinting under the iridescent sky.
It’s the TemPad, shattered into pieces; you recognize the color gold of its border.
Your eyes grow wide, mouth agape. You don’t even feel angry anymore, it’s more than that. You stick out your hand to gesture towards the destroyed device, “Is that—Is that the TemPad?” you ask as your other hand lifts to hold the side of your head. “Or am I just seeing things from the concussion?”
Sylvie is the one to speak. “It’s not the concussion.”
You suddenly feel like you’re burning.
If it were possible, you could have instantly killed him with a look.
“You. You killed us!” you step closer to him and for a moment, Loki doesn’t exactly know what to do. “So, it’s my fault then? You were the one who left me alone in the lounge.” are the words that leave his lips. Completely useless. Trying to diffuse the tension is the exact opposite of what he does.
His silver tongue isn’t so shiny and silver anymore.
You don’t pull your blow this time. Your palm strikes his cheek, rocking his head to the side. Your hand is oddly soft. Loki winces and you stand your ground. “You’re a jerk and an asshole. You’ve probably been called that for all your life and yet, here you are. Still, the most insensitive and pathetic man I’ve ever met,” you articulate your words with frustration and rage. You don’t raise your voice like before, it’s low and frightfully intimidating. “And I’m not your babysitter.”
Battles, ruination, and fracas gave a sense of familiarity to Sylvie in a time of an impending apocalypse. When worlds end, benevolence is resolute. The tragedy of the end of lost souls—afraid to die. But as daunting as the apocalypse is, the beauty of their souls finally returning to the universe protrudes amongst the debris and misery.
She sees herself in the two of you, as much as she doesn’t identify as a Loki anymore, and her hatred towards the TVA. You have a temper and he doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut.
You’re mysterious in an almost enchanting way and possibly significant as you seemed to be at first glance. Sylvie is highly curious about you.
You don’t stray too far from the group, only to find rest by the edge of a pit made by a crashing meteor. You sit with your back turned against the very two beings you distrust as you watch the border where the bustling city of Shuroo is based. Your guard is down and you don’t care at this point. Everyone is about to die anyway.
Sylvie’s gaze finds Loki who seems to be only watching the back of your still figure, eyes glinting with an emotion unknown to her. Possibly regret? Sylvie doesn’t know what regret looks like. But fear and anger, she feels it radiating from you. She knows it. Something tells her you’re not solely angry at her and Loki.
She finds herself drifting closer to you. You don’t move. She cautiously settles beside you. “You’re not hiding a knife somewhere, aren’t you?”
You merely scoff, caressing your head, “You’re the one to say.”
Sylvie blinks. Fair enough.
Silence. Sylvie’s eyes shift to the handkerchief tied around your arm, stained with blood. “How’s the arm?”
You hum. “Surprisingly, fine.”
Oh, Sylvie knows it’s fine. She knows what Loki did. She decides not to mention the scratch she made across your cheek.
“Did the slap make you feel better?”
The question is hinted at near sarcasm, but genuinely, she wants to know.
“Yes, it did. You should try it sometime.”
She simply hums. “I would have but you beat me to it.”
A turn of your lips as they curve into a small smile. Sylvie watches with an odd sense of satisfaction. “You know, I’m still mad at you. For what you did to me.” Your words are slow. You find yourself swallowing. “But it’s nothing compared to what the TVA did to you.”
Empathy. Is this what empathy feels like? The moment when someone finally understands what it’s like to be alone for so long. Your lives are different but they reflect in certain ways. You have had your fair share of living in constant fear and constantly running. Sylvie finds herself wanting to tell you that she hadn’t simply pushed you into Sakaar. When it’s a mission, things are never accidental. She always has a plan.
Yet, she chooses not to say anything.
You speak again but merely whisper, fidgeting with your fingers, “Before Sakaar—did you enchant me?”
It's as if you're reading her mind.
“Are you seeing things?”
After a pause, the fidgeting stops.
“I’ve seen things all my life, images. Brief and insignificant. But ever since I was in Sakaar, it’s gotten a lot harder to differentiate a dream and a memory.”
“That’s because they aren’t dreams.”
Your hardened gaze finds hers for a brief moment, nearly growing wide at her words but in an instant, your guard is up once you hear the shuffling of feet behind you where Loki lingers. The subject is dropped immediately. He meets Sylvie’s gaze, the two share a knowing look.
Your anger is provoked and well deserved and yet, the last thing he wants is to be your enemy. Loki doesn’t know why. He has lived a life full of them.
You’re different.
He stills, wondering if you’re going to lash out at him again but when he notices your slow breaths, he decides to sit next to you anyway, awkward glances to you in his periphery. A deep sigh escapes his lips, fiddling with his fingers. “What now?”
Sylvie is the one to answer. “I don’t know. You broke the TemPad.”
“Well—”
“And that planet is about to crash into us.”
Loki looks up at the nearing planet of Lamentis. He blinks. “Well, yes, but—”
“Yes, but what?”
“Well, the entire moon is destroyed, right?”
Sylvie is trying to suppress your growing annoyance. “Yep. And everyone on it is killed.”
But Loki pesters on. “Including us.”
She raises her voice. “Yes, including us.” Loki glances at you momentarily. A pause. He furrows his brows in thought.
“What about the ark?”
“The ark never leaves because it's destroyed.”
Suddenly, an epiphany, his eyes light up. He turns to you and Sylvie, “Never had us on it.”
You suddenly scoff at his words. “Are you suggesting we hijack the ark and make sure it gets off this moon?” You turn to him to only spot a vague smile playing upon his lips. He nods in return. “Sounds like a good idea to me, Agent.”
You merely blink, watching the way his eyes shift across your face. First, you’re struck with uncertainty. It’s a risk, a huge one but you know, risks are meant to be uncertain. Risks are also vital in success. Hesitation, doubt—they make you weak. This time, you want to be strong. Strong enough for one last push to save your life.
“Okay.” is what you say, your expression reflecting his.
For the first time, since he took your hand in Sakaar, you’re starting to trust him.
The walk to Shuroo seemed endless. You trail behind the two, feeling like you’re about to suffocate.
“—To preserve the connection, I have to create a fantasy from their memories.”
Loki and Sylvie had been conversing about the science and functions of enchantment in a rather surprisingly calm manner. Loki hums, amused by her elucidation. “And you call me a magician.”
Her expression is unchanged as she continues to trudge alongside Loki, ignoring his previous statement. “That young soldier from the TVA, her mind was messed up. Everything clouded. I had to pull a memory from hundreds of years prior...before she even fought for them.”
Loki halts abruptly in his step, hand flying to grab Sylvie’s arm. “What? What'd you say? Before she joined the TVA?”
Sylvie blinks. “Yeah. She was just a regular person on Earth.”
His mind starts to reel, face muddled with confusion. “I was told that everyone who works for the TVA was created by the Time-Keepers.”
“That's ridiculous. They're all variants, just like us. Including her.” Sylvie gestures discreetly to you who has stopped to take a breather, hands on your hips as you blink up to the sky.
You, Mobius, all of them. All variants.
“They don't know that. She doesn’t know that.” he breathes a terrified expression.
Sylvie looks at you from afar. You’re now looking at them with a bewildered expression. “What?” you call out, voice echoing through the wide area, in a somewhat defensive tone.
She turns to Loki once more, voice nearly faltering. “I have a feeling she already knows it.”
Loki doesn’t realize the unfamiliarity of hopelessness. Throughout his life, he was constantly surrounded by those with unfaltering determination—His brother, family, friends who were warriors, The Avengers.
Never was it known that he would see it burning in your eyes as they reflect the growing fire of the Ark, crumbling down, tongues of fire engulfing it whole before you. His heart burns with it as Shuroo falls quiet—only the sounds of the metallic crashing of the disintegrating parts of the ship falling from above and the screams of the rich and deemed worthy to live. Every Lamentian still alive held their breath, a moment's silence for their lives must end. Everything must end.
So close yet so far.
Sylvie is gone by the minute as the city starts to descend in terror and panic. He stands behind your still form, just watching your only chance of making it out, swallowed by its own billowing smoke. He reaches out for you, tugging you by the sleeve. “We should leave,” he says with a sudden sense to protect you. There isn’t much to do at this point. It doesn't matter if you are hit by the falling pieces of the Ark because you are all going to die anyway.
But he considers it a gesture, as insignificant and small it is. The least he could do is to distract you from the end, whether for a mere second or minutes.
“I know things haven’t been the best between us and I concede I bring out the worst in you, but I wanted to say I’m sorry.”
You turn to Loki with his sudden words. He watches the way your expression softens so gracefully, face adorned with gashes and wounds. Your mouth twitches as you respond with a gentle voice. “I forgive you.”
Three words. Very powerful words.
His heart skips a beat.
You find Sylvie at the brink of the city, sitting on a stretched slab of rock amongst the dirt, watching the horizon where the planet starts to meet the moon. Loki still has his hand around your arm, but you don’t complain. It’s your only source of support at the moment. It’s an unconscious move, but everything about it feels right when the two of you settle beside her, shoulders brushing against each other. It only makes sense to want to feel the nearness, the closeness of another as the light at the end of the tunnel begins to dim.
It’s impending. It’s scary.
“I remember Asgard.”
Sylvie’s voice trembles, her eyes are somber.
“Not much, but I remember. My home, my people, my life. Then, the TVA showed up, erased my reality, and took me, prisoner. I was just a child.”
You turn to her, guilt bubbling in your chest, but you don’t say anything. You let her speak. It’s only right.
“I escaped.” she breathes, blinking the brimming tears in her eyes away. ”Stole a TemPad and I ran for a long, long time, which really sucked. Everywhere and every-when I went, it caused a Nexus event.”
Sylvie turns to you with a melancholic gaze. “The universe wants to break free, so it manifests chaos. Like me being born the Goddess of Mischief. But to you and the TVA, I’m not supposed to exist.”
For so long, you hadn’t realized the consequences of your work at the TVA. You believed you were right. That erasing, resetting realities were meant to be. You cannot comprehend how it only occurred to you to question the authority of the Time-Keepers over time itself after Sakaar. All those years of being ignorant and selfish. You hadn’t realized. You never did.
But now you know.
Sylvie continues, gaze shifting away from you. “I figured out where to hide. And so that's where I grew up, the ends of a thousand worlds. Now...that's where I'll die.”
Then, silence. It sits heavily between the three of you.
“The universe—isn’t she beautiful?” Your voice is soft, eyes trained on the horizon—a fleet of asteroids, they reflect the end. But they seem to dance to the silence of the apocalypse, drifting across the stratosphere, lining the firmament. Loki’s gaze shifts to you, training on every curve of your face and the tears slipping down your cheeks. He agrees, the universe is beautiful.
You’re beautiful.
“She brings turmoil, agony, and destruction but in all her flaws, there’s beauty in her very existence.”
Your hands find Sylvie and Loki’s hands, holding on to them tightly as you fight the wavering of your voice.
“You...Both of you might be the epitome of chaos but you must know that you have such beautiful souls. All of us, we're her children...and if she is beautiful, so are we. And the Universe is always right. If she created you then we are wrong.”
Sylvie’s face is soft. Loki squeezes your hand.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything. I should have known from the start...that the TVA was lying to all of us. I should have questioned. I should have doubted—”
“It’s okay. It’s not your fault,” she says, smiling with saddened eyes.
You laugh. You don’t know why, but you do. Maybe, it’s because you know you are a part of the problem anyway, even if you were just doing your job.
You find Loki’s gaze that’s already on you. You sigh and speak through a whisper. “I’m sorry for slapping you.”
His lips curve into a grin, eyes crinkling like your own. “It was well deserved, but I forgive you.”
Fingers entangled with the hands of two unlikely people, you finally realize what it truly feels like to not be alone. To be in the company of someone you want to be with.
“Now long now.” Those three words leave the very lips of Sylvie and your chest feels like it’s about to collapse.
You never knew you were afraid of death, yet here you are—terrified.
The ground shakes beneath you. It’s dark and there’s fire everywhere. A meteor collides to the ground just across the way, it sends smoke billowing to its surroundings faster than you can blink.
Even in the last seconds of your life, you have doubts remaining. What if the universe isn’t always right?
Then, through the growing dust, you see a spark, like lightning. A glint of a figure, standing before you. White, pure, and serene. You’re standing now, staring ahead. Sylvie and Loki cease to exist in your mind as they gaze at you with bewilderment. They anxiously call you by your name but you don’t hear it. There’s only silence now, you don’t hear anything but the ringing in your ears.
A voice, she speaks with dignity. A voice so familiar.
“Doubt makes the strong weak, my child.”
