Hello everyone and hope your week has got off to a great start! I’m in London for my birthday treat and so far I have kicked ass at crazy golf - which I was quite surprised at being a crazy golf virgin! 😂 Here’s another book haul 😜 Colm Toibin is one of those authors where I have a few of their books and haven’t read a single thing yet! 🙈 The Magician is shortlisted for the Walter Scott prize for historical fiction 2022 and is a sweeping novel of unrequited love and exile, war and family. Vagina A Re-Education was inspired by my bestie @emmasbookishcorner who encouraged me to add this to my other vagina books 😂 Described as part memoir, part practical guide to the vagina, this indispensable book sifts through myths and misinformation with the goal of empowering women with vital knowledge about their own bodies. Finally, Slug was kind of an impulse buy. Read this synopsis and tell me I was wrong though - from Finnish saunas and soppy otters to grief, grandparents and Kelloggs anti-masturbation pants, Slug is a book which holds a mirror lovingly up to the world, past and present, through Hollie’s driving, funny and hopeful poetry and prose. I think she had me at soppy otters to be fair. 🤣 I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. He was the best company in the whole world; he had read widely and because he was an industrious man and filled with curiosity, he hoped to read much more. You had to take full advantage of his company; he was never sticking around the next day. He had a flight to catch to a destination where he would denounce someone in need of denouncing, or to a debate where he would, he was sure, win the argument. And then he would stay up late again, and the talk would be brilliant.
