It’s Friday!! And you know what that means, fellow bookworms. It’s another haul post! These are three beautiful hardbacks that I had been waiting to arrive for some time then Waterstones had those warehouse problems 😒 I’ve become obsessed with Greek mythology retellings so jumped at the chance to preorder Ithaca. It’s also by Claire North who wrote one of my favourite books - The First Fifteen Lives Of Harry August. Ithaca follows the story of Penelope, Odysseus’ wife who is barely into womanhood when Odysseus leaves her for war in Troy. Years later, speculation is mounting that he is dead and suitors are clambering around her, desperate to be King of Ithaca. Penelope could be one choice away from a bloody civil war. I preordered Trust as it was longlisted for the Booker in 2022. It’s set in the roar and effervescence of New York in the 1920’s where everyone has heard of Benjamin and Helen Rask. He is a legendary Wall St tycoon and she is the brilliant daughter of eccentric aristocrats. Together, they have risen to the very top of a world of seemingly endless wealth. However the secrets around their affluence and grandeur incites gossip. At what cost have they acquired their immense fortune? Finally, I’m back on the Greek mythology train with the wonderful Natalie Haynes and her retelling of the gorgon Medusa. I’ve often wondered if Medusa was slightly misunderstood and after having loved A Thousand Ships, I can’t wait to read Haynes take on this story which was always a favourite of mine. This is the story of how a young woman became a monster. And how she was never really a monster at all. I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. To Be Read 🙈📚❤️ Do you read with friends? I’m starting The Gilded Ones with @robertfinlayreadsbooks today 🎉 I was so lucky to have read The Prophets with @robertfinlayreadsbooks @thatbookishbear and @kingtchalla83 🤩📖 It was such a deep read and discussion helped peel back even more layers. Hello everyone and hope your week has got off to a great start! I’m in London for my birthday treat and so far I have kicked ass at crazy golf - which I was quite surprised at being a crazy golf virgin! 😂 Here’s another book haul 😜 Colm Toibin is one of those authors where I have a few of their books and haven’t read a single thing yet! 🙈 The Magician is shortlisted for the Walter Scott prize for historical fiction 2022 and is a sweeping novel of unrequited love and exile, war and family. Vagina A Re-Education was inspired by my bestie @emmasbookishcorner who encouraged me to add this to my other vagina books 😂 Described as part memoir, part practical guide to the vagina, this indispensable book sifts through myths and misinformation with the goal of empowering women with vital knowledge about their own bodies. Finally, Slug was kind of an impulse buy. Read this synopsis and tell me I was wrong though - from Finnish saunas and soppy otters to grief, grandparents and Kelloggs anti-masturbation pants, Slug is a book which holds a mirror lovingly up to the world, past and present, through Hollie’s driving, funny and hopeful poetry and prose. I think she had me at soppy otters to be fair. 🤣 I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Can't stop!!

I don't know if I can fit them in, my TBR list is huge and I'm still buying. I went scouring the shops today and I found the grail series by Bernard Cornwall, in the local charity shop ( hardcover) for £1 each, my goodness I was delighted, three books on my wish list for a fraction of the retail price. Hooray to the people who started charity shops. I'll need to add them to the long list though. :)
