Do you think that a major in economy is worth doing nowadays?
hey love,
assuming that you're talking about economics - majoring in this (like everything) has ups and downs.
personally, i've considered leaving physics for economics (as a subject) since economics is easier to achieve a high ib score in than physics.
but it depends mostly on you. your strengths, your interests, and what you are interested in for the future
here are some benefits of an economics degree:
develops your locical and analytical thinking abilities
it is an interesting blend of mathematics and social theory
many employers seek economics graduates
career economists often end up in well-paying positions
here are the negatives:
requires substantial mathematical concepts
the field can be competitive.
it's not up to me to make big life decisions for you. so, here is some further reading (my sources for the pros and cons):

Students, particularly those at public high schools, are under-resourced when it comes to college admissions assistance. The average student receives just under 38 minutes of college guidance across 4 years, and the average guidance counselor-to-student ratio is 1 to 472. Our mission is to level the increasingly unfair playing field in US college admissions. We do this by 1) helping students navigate the admissions process according to their goals, whether that's gaining acceptance into a very competitive top university or simply finding the best school for them, and 2) employing a near-peer mentorship model to build students who will be successful in life, even beyond admissions. By selectively hiring only the most talented college students and rigorously training them in all aspects of admissions, we’ve created a network of expert admissions mentors who have recently succeeded in the process themselves. This concept of near-peer mentorship -- students helping students -- has been key to helping our clients become better people, develop unbelievable resumes, gain admission to their dream schools, and manage the college process with minimal stress. And with a fee structure starting at considerably less than our competitors, we are uniquely affordable.

12.9.2021 ~ Day 5/100
Tumblr media
I am quite happy with how I kept my phone aside right from the start of the day and focused on the task at hand.
Solved and wrote code for CS50's movies and Fiftyville problem sets. Done with 8 weeks of the course!
Studied matrices and determinants for my maths exam
Updated my collegevine profile and explored about several tools on it
Watched a video about how to fill a CSS profile
Studied Alternating Current and made notes for my physics exam.

Hi! I hope this won't be a bother and don't worry about answering if it is but I saw your ask reply so someone asking about an economics major and you included what seemed to be really helpful links. I'm wondering if you would be able to find any for choosing a Chemistry major/the different fields of chemistry to get a job in?
-🍊
hello pretty,
don't worry it's not a bother at all, i actually had a bit of fun researching about university, and it fits today a bit (went to a career expo earlier).
first of all, chemistry is so broad, and can be applied to so many study and career paths! in fact, approximately 9,100 job openings for material scientists and chemists become available annually (helpfulprofessor).
to help you understand the different fields of chemistry, here's some links:
The 5 Main Branches of Chemistry (thoughtco.com)
Different types of Chemistry - Chemistry & Biochemistry | UW-La Crosse (uwlax.edu)
1.4: Areas of Chemistry (Chemistry LibreTexts)
as for some more general resources, here's the best ones i could find:
What You Need to Know About Becoming a Chemistry Major (usnews.com)
Biology vs Chemistry Major: Which One to Choose? (CollegeVine)
Should You Major in Chemistry? (CollegeVine Blog)
Chemistry Degrees: Worth it or Useless for Getting a Job? (helpfulprofessor.com)

i hope this helps! ❤️ nene

My life: waking up naturally at like 6am (possibly the effects of jet lag but hey I’ll take it), going to biomed library to indulge in mcat (yay..), going to lab to run assays and studying for mcat while said assays incubate or whatever, then running to find a quiet place to tutor my collegevine students .-.
Yesterday I knocked out at 8pm and studybuddy was supposed to wake me up at 9 and apparently he tried to but I was so dead that I woke up at 11:30pm very confused

I wrote a short essay for a school and sent it for editing and since this is CollegeVine (strangers are reading my essay), the person suggested to make a 298 word essay longer than 300 words when 300 words is the limit. But I love how they are very confident in my essay regardless.

What’s your process for answering short take questions on college applications?
1) Collegevine. Collegevine is seriously a huge help for short answer questions because they break down what the college is looking for and how you might approach the prompt2) I brainstorm, what side of myself do i want to show? if i've already shown a very serious side in my common app, i might want to show a more whimsical side in my short answer3) i think of the idea that i want to talk about and give concrete examples of how that concept has influenced the way i view the world4) if one of the short answer questions is very similar to one i've answered before, i will recycle my answer
