Day 18/100 of productivity
Monday, August 19
Today was spent having lunch that turned into having dinner with friends. One of them will be going to Korea for a semester, so we had to hang our together before she does.
We also checked out the newest faculty building while picking up our study org's merch. It's super spacious and bright!

11.01.22 two in one day!
Here's a very interesting one. This a copy of the famous Hopf family's violin design. Hopf violins have a very square body that is so signature it became a very common thing to copy. This one belongs to the owner of my shop, and I have yet to ask him for more details about just how old it is. I'll post pictures of the old wooden case at some point as well. My guess is that this one was made in the 50s, but that's more of a hunch.
~ Sound Notes ~
I love this one because she sounds just like she looks. Hope doesn't project as much as many violins I've played, but she has a very round and even tone. I plan on putting gut strings on her sometime soon to bring out more of that richness in the sound. She sounds old and sweet, just like my grandma.

i’ve grown so fond of this place that i have to leave. four years and now, i will never live here again. they don’t tell you that part when you go to college. you’ll learn all the of the secret places and the shortcuts through town just to never go through them again. you’ll visit, of course. but you won’t live there.
i’ve grown fond of the barista at the local coffee shop i visit every tuesday and wednesday morning. i’ve grown fond of the man who replaces our cleaning products and rugs every monday morning at work. i’ve grown fond of the aching in my calves on my daily walk up the hills to class. i’ve grown fond of my table in the library.
after may, i’ll never see these people and do these things again and i don’t know if i will ever recover. i will never do my morning routine, see the ducks at the park, or bake bread with my coworkers. i will never feed the fish, drink a mocha with a bagel, or make a bloody mary.
i’ve grown fond of busy mornings at work. i’ve grown fond of spending hours in the practice rooms, playing and singing and learning. i’ve grown so fond of just existing in this town that i will never see again.

Nothing humbles a person like living in a college town where, unless you're a university student, you are far from being the main character. You are but a villager to their hardcore survival world.

I live in a college town (5 colleges/universities) and now that students are back it takes 3 times as long to get around town. Rush hour is a bitch and I HATE it. Our population goes from about 60k to 120-140k from September until June.
It doesn't help that the local religious (fundamental baptist) college produces some of the most entitled, rude, annoying students known to man. It's so bad that the locals, a lot of whom are religious and conservative themselves, hate the students.
I'm not religious or conservative (I'm queer, liberal/socialist/pro-worker/etc, and areligious/atheist) and I don't mind the vast majority of the students, the ones that are polite and friendly, but the spoiled rich kids who flock to town and drive like shit and are rude? Fuck em. I'm too old for their shit.

going on dating apps just for fun is the best thing ever
because you can just like see who's in the area, without ever having to actually meet them or even message them
AND you can judge their taste in music without them being able to say anything about yours back
because youre not talking. you're just sliding through an exhibit of your neighbors including the best pictures of them, random facts, age, height etc
its just socially acceptable stalking and i love it a lot
