This Band is an indie pop rock band based in Las Piñas, Philippines. They are best known for their sleeper hit single "Kahit Ayaw Mo Na". The official music video for the song reached 22 million views, and the official lyric video reached 6.5 million views. In 2017, This Band started performing as a band at KM17 Place and several food parks in Las Piñas. The band went through various male singers before finding Andrea Manzano whose voice is being compared to KZ Tandingan. ORANGE AND LEMONS

Orange and Lemons is a Filipino pop rock band founded and formed in 1999 by lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro along with Ace and JM del Mundo. Former member, Mcoy Fundales served as the lead vocalist and guitarist since its formation until its last reception in 2007. The group's musical genre's been a mix of alternative rock, indie pop and experimental music and heavily influenced by several well-respected bands in different generations like The Smiths, The Beatles and the Eraserheads. The band had released three several albums and gained commercial success with their sophomore album Strike Whilst the Iron is Hot released in 2005. The group parted ways in 2007 due to musical differences. Following the band's break up several members formed their own groups. Mcoy Fundales formed Kenyo alongside JM and Ace del Mundo. While, Clem formed his own indie group The Camerawalls with the band's original member, Law Santiago. In 2017, after 10 years on hiatus, the band announced that they would reunite as a trio, and later as a quartet when keyboardist Jared Nerona joined.

DECEMBER AVENUE

December Avenue is a 5-piece indie pop/alternative rock band from Manila, Philippines known for their viral compositions online. The band is one of the most streamed OPM bands of all-time.The band is composed of Zel Bautista on vocals and guitars, Jem Manuel on guitars, Don Gregorio on bass, Jet Danao on drums and backing vocals, and Gelo Cruz on keyboards and backing vocals. Bautista, Manuel, Gregorio, and Danao started out in their alma mater University of Santo Tomas in 2007. Cruz, an alumnus of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, was later added in 2016. Bautista is the chief composer of the band. Originally known for their predominantly English songs, the band has released Tagalog songs since 2016.

PAROKYA NI EDGAR

Parokya ni Edgar is a Philippine band formed in 1993. The band is known for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres. Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media outlets and numerous award-giving bodies as "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" (The National Band of the Philippines). Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members are named Edgar. The band name's origin had been a subject of debate among fans as the band members had never given full confirmation. It was not until 2013 that Chito Miranda officially addressed it through a post on their Facebook page. The title "Parokya Ni Edgar" came from a joke a classmate named Bambi Cuna made during one of their high school classes. Sources state that the class subject was Filipino. When the teacher asked Cuna where Jose Rizal's fictional hero, Crisostomo Ibarra (in the novel Noli Me Tangere) was educated, it was said that Cuna made up a daft answer, "sa Parokya ni Edgar". Then-vocalist Jeric Estaco decided on impromptu to introduce the band as "Parokya ni Edgar" in their first live performance. From there, the band name just stuck.

PART I: THE QUEEN HAVE JUST ARRIVED

Actress, model, comedian, host, writer, singer and the Queen of Dubsmash. A phenomenal star. A woman who showed the world that impossible is nothing but just a word.

Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza. Widely known as Maine Mendoza and for her role as Yaya Dub in Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye. 

PART II: QUEEN'S FOUNDATION

Meng had a wonderful childhood, thanks to her Family. She is very close to her supportive Family. Meng considers her Sisters as her best friends and her Father as her biggest fan and supporter. She has four siblings, two men and two women. Just like Maine's name that starts with "Nico", the name of all of her siblings also starts with "Nico".

Since Menggay was young, they have a cousin of her dad who has been living with them named Pepe. Maine greatly cherishes Pepe since she was the one who's taking care of Meng and her siblings along with her Parents.

She finished her high school at St. Paul College of Bocaue in Bulacan. Meng was a pretty quiet and introverted student who dreamed of being a Flight Attendant. When she was in High School she was bullied because she was an introverted person, but her friends helped her cope up. She completed a bachelor's degree in hotel, restaurant and institution management with a major in culinary arts at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. She had her internship at The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, New York. Being an actress and being able to act on screens was Maine's secret ultimate dream. She never told any of her friends or anyone about her dream of being an actress because she doesn't want to be laughed off, and in her perspective that time is that being an actress is too impossible for her to achieve because she doesn't have any idea nor talent in acting.

PART III: BOW DOWN TO THE QUEEN

When the application "Dubsmash" was introduced to the world, the shy, quite and introvert Maine disappeared. She decided to leave her comfort zone when she was a student and started using the Dubsmash application. Due to Maine's undeniably great performances in Dubsmash, people started to call her the "Queen of Dubsmash". In the early part of 2015, Mendoza posted a Dubsmash compilation on Facebook, in which she impersonated another famous Filipina personality Kris Aquino that went viral with one million views overnight. 

She was casted as Yaya Dub in a noontime television show in the Philippines called Eat Bulaga. Yaya Dub's rose to fame when her undeniably chemistry with her co host Alden Richards was seen by the viewers. After one episode of Eat Bulaga showcasing their chemistry, the love team "AlDub" has commenced. Their pairing resulted to their wide exposure and to the further increase of the TV ratings of Eat Bulaga.

Some famous Filipino slangs and actions were created because of the love team of Yaya Dub and Alden Richards such as, the "Pabebe Wave", "Aldub You" and "Ma-alden Kita."

Maine is also considered as a fastest rising actress in the showbiz business. After the Kalyeserye series in Eat Bulaga, Maine successfully showed that she is more than a comedian. In the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival, She was honored as the Best Supporting Actress for her role as Anna Carillo in the Film "My bebe love: #Kiligpamore" which she co starred with Alden Richards and the Famous Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai De las alas.

After that Maine took part in a lot of Film projects such as "God gave me you",  "Imagine you and Me" and  "Destined to be yours". 

Maine became a fixed member of Eat Bulaga. She is able to travel to different countries with her co hosts to shoot some episodes and have a memorable time with them. Some of Maine's Films were taken in different countries. Such as some of the scenes of "Imagine you and Me", It was shot in Como, Italy.

Maine's rise to fame didn't affect her personality. She is still the down to earth Menggay that her Family treasures.

     Mariah Reodica is a filmmaker, writer, media archivist, and musician based in Manila, Philippines. Her background as a musician--not formally trained, but ouido,--reflects in her practices of filmmaking and writing. Her works tackle narrative-making in oblique yet intuitive manners. She is currently a lecturer at the University of the Philippines Film Institute and the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde.

     She was awarded the Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize for Art Criticism at the 2019 Ateneo Art Awards, and currently maintains the column Platforms in The Philippine Star’s Arts and Culture section. Her writing has appeared in Perro Berde, hcmf// (Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival), CNN Life Philippines, ANCX, and other publications.

      Eerie (2019), a feature-length film she co-wrote with award-winning director Mikhail Red, won the National Asian Fantastic Films Award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2017. Her works have been shown or performed in Bangkok Biennale 2018; Manila Biennale 2018; the Asia Culture Center, Gwangju; and the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film, Video, and Music Festival 2018, among others. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts in film, cum laude, and also studied at Chuo University, Tokyo.

       She is also a guitarist and composer for a number independent music projects, from fuzz rock to primitive Americana. Her band The Buildings released their second album Heaven is a Long Exhale on Japanese label Call and Response Records, and has been featured in NME Asia.

I’m participating in #MarchMeetTheMaker, a series of posts throughout the month for you to get to know the person behind the art 🤗 today’s theme is STORY, and here’s mine. . I very clearly remember myself at 3 or 4 years old saying I wanted to be a “drawer” when I grow up. I wore many hats before I became a “drawer” though (buti hindi ako naging cabinet). I took up Multimedia Arts in college and my first job was as a motion graphics artist animating graphics for TV, then I taught video editing part-time in DLS-St. Benilde (my alma mater). After that I worked for a US company designing graphics for online ads and websites. . In 2012 I decided to quit graphic design and build up my own illustration career (I would look at other illustrators’ work online during work breaks and I wanted to do what they were doing!). I worked on improving my illustration skills well enough to get myself represented by art agents in the UK. Now I was finally a “drawer”— living my childhood dream and making good money out of it 💰💶💸 . But life has other plans and after some shaking in 2015 (where God found me after I had been living a life of agnosticism), and some new perspectives and beliefs, I let go of my precious illustration agent. Now I’m still a drawer, but still also juggling and wearing many hats— graphic designer, painter, blogger, online shop owner, merchandise maker, web designer, video editor, photographer, tiktoker (haha), no-budget shirt model (hahaha), etc. . Ok I think you get the point. Haba na nito ayoko na mag type 🙈 Stay tuned to the rest of the posts in this series where there will be more insights about my creative process, my art tools, behind-the-scenes shots, etc. And as always, thank you for following along with me on this journey! :)

Last week, we had a talk about copywriting. I found it incredibly interesting, and I’m glad I was able to attend. I learned about the kind of ads we should be making, and the things to remember when copywriting (such as clarity, focal point and context). We were also able to researched about different campaigns for an upcoming pitch. Through that, I was able to see how great ideas could be made.

“Transferring”

im back at it again with a chitchat blog post about my life! so as you can see the title is all about transferring and it’s already a self explanatory, yes i am transferring to CSB-SDA (College of Saint Benilde-School of Design and Arts) my Godmother or ninang allowed me to transfer school last thursday

why am i transferring though?

St paul has been an amazing memory for me, but i couldn’t handle the toxic environment, everything about the University has to be limited, the mindset and the immaturity of the people.

i know that it would make my life even more harder but knowing that i’m not going to school anymore just for attendance and just to attend stupid and useless events is the best thing i have ever felt in my entire whole life.

finally, i am free i am free to do whatever i want, i am free to speak and to think whatever i want.

and that is the best milestone for an artist
