In college AU by the time you and Nai meet you both are young (obviously, you’re in college, duh) and you’re both not super experienced in romance so jealousy is like mildly new territory (Nai especially LMAO) so when he feels a pang in his chest when you’re bantering with Wolfwood on a side that’s a bit too friendly for his liking?

Nick’s arm is slung around you as he tries to take a selfie with Meryl’s Polaroid, the girl attempting to jump to reach it as Milly observes. Vash is attempting to calm the situation- ever the peacemaker.

You’re laughing and amused all the while, smile painting your lips as you pose for a photo. You’re so happy with them it’s almost aggravating, ugh. Can you all just take it outside of the apartment? Nai has to hide away in his room, Snuggie wrapped around him in his little grove when you’re all here. A scowl is apparent as he scoffs, moving to his room with a few snide remarks muttered under his breath. He won’t ruin his brother’s fun though, he’s had trouble making friends in the past. So not to say he loathes you all, rather… you’re not preferable choice in company.

That’s what helps him sleep at night (when he does choose to sleep, at least).

In reality: does Wolfwood have a crush on you? No. You guys are just friends that mess around and chill out. But why should Nai care? You’re just another one of Vash’s friends who he happens to study with on occasion. That is all. All it will ever be.

He attempts to hide his glare as he stands and walks towards his room.

Nai is a tennis champion, both him and Vash are practically campus celebrities. Both handsome, single, athletic, smart- Vash is well known and liked by everyone.

Nai though? HAH. Haha you’re funny. He’s well known. Respected enough. But he’s made it plenty clear kegstands and partying into the ungodly hours of night on a fucking Tuesday isn’t really his cup of tea. In fact it’s not even a cup at his table. (In this hypothetical cup scenario).

People oftentimes throw themselves at him, flocking to the handsome guy who’s far too beautiful to be human, tone and leaned muscle with a sharp jaw and cunning remarks. This girl was no different.

You knew of her, she was far more bold than you and was a relatively good student. Seemed nice enough.

You couldn’t hold it against her to take a liking to Knives as her hips swayed, eyes bright and flickering up to his. Normally, Nai wouldn’t go to the cafeteria, however Vash had wanted to grab a snack from a friend who worked here (they had donuts today) (curse him and his sweet tooth, ugh)

You sat with some other friends of yours, checking your phone for any notifications before turning to see her chatting with him. With his face away from you, you couldn’t see his obvious disinterest, although he was presumably like that with everyone, right? You have no idea why you’re watching so intently for someone who you can hardly call an acquaintance- he’s just a guy you sometimes exchange notes with.

Something unpleasant settles in your chest as your eyebrows furrow, looking down to your phone once more to forcefully distract yourself. It’s weird to stare like that, ahem.

And maybe you feel a tinge of guilt as he brushes past her to Vash, who’s 3 doughnuts richer now that his friend gave him “the goods”, a bead of something swelling in your chest.

Vash is perceptive as always.

He says nothing though, following Nai who takes brisk strides once more out of the noisy cafeteria, head almost buzzing from how overwhelming the noise can get for both of them.

❝VASH❞

Majors in Conservation/Research, studies Anthropology, the history of humans and their development.

Top of his class, the nice kid that's always offering tutoring to his classmates.

Dating Nick, always talking him up at any point in time. When people see Nick for the first time they're like "wtf.. this is your guy??" looking up and down a greaseball of a man. Vash is like omg.. yes.. isn't he wonderful.. as he permeates cigarette smoke.

THE definition of broke college student. He has $5 to his name after nessesities.

Absolute soft spot for anything living, has taken in a few strays into his dorm room. Nick is absolutely against taking in animals because Vash doesn't even have enough money to feed himself, and animals can be given to shelters. Nick always lectures him but doesn't have the heart to take the cats away from him... and he started to like them, too.

Obligatory plants around the room, loves to take care of things.

Absolute party pooper, prefers to study in the library alone than go to parties.

Hides behind bookshelves in the library to avoid Knives, how the hell is he supposed to study when his brother won't shut the fuck up about how proud he is of him for studying, anyways?

❝WOLFWOOD❞

Majors in Philosophy/Religious Studies.

Loves Philosophy/Religious Studies OUTSIDE of school, but the second he has to read the bible for class he wants to commit several sins.

Absolutely sick of studying, always hosting room parties.

Dorm room is a fucking man cave. Curtains always drawn, lights always off. Dude hisses when you open his door. Clothes all over the floor, bed unmade.

Walks with Livio to shared classes, always late and always together. They scheme shit like "Okay you walk in first and I'll walk in a few minutes later so it's not noticable." (Everyone always knew, they're inseparable.)

❝MERYL❞

Majors in Journalism.

Absolute teachers pet. Knows all of the hard shit that she realistically won't use in her future career.

Girlfriends with Milly... She is the book smart to Milly's street smart. The brains to her brawn, if you will.

Always hounding everyone to study, but is the first to get wasted at parties.

Known for being a vommitter at parties.

Minimalistic and very clean dorm room. Whenever the gang hangs out or has sleepovers, it's usually there because it's the cleanest and has the most room.

She's always taking polaroid pictures of the group, hanging them up on her walls.

❝MILLY❞

Majors in Mechanics.

Criticized for being in "a man's field" but can do more than the men in her classes can.

Girlfriends with Meryl.

If anyone in the friend group needs to figure out how to do an oil change or jumpstart a car, she's your gal.

The sober friend, takes care of Meryl at parties.

Dorm room is a stuffie paradise, she has tens of plushes that each have names and backstories. She can tell you the year she got them and why. Silly names like shmoopkins..

❝KNIVES❞

Majors in Psychology with Botany on the side.

"Ugh.. I don't do parties." Goes to the library to study because he's above everyone, spots Vash and gives him a proud lecture about how he's being responsible and studying.. And not wasting his time with those losers..

The mom friend. Not in the sense that he cares, but is the one who sits back while everyone goofs off like "What the fuck are you doing."

Very punctual with top marks. Always early to class, fully prepared, reads in his free time. Probably never uses his phone.

Poor eyesight, takes the fucking grandpa glasses out to read or use his phone. "Hey Nai, look at this!" He slowly pulls his glasses out and squints at your phone.

Phone kept in one of those wallet phone cases for convenience.

Dorm room adorned with plants everywhere.

Also prefers to stay sober. Absolutely hates that he and Vash are the same because he can't excuse his brothers behavior with "He's drunk, he's not thinking right."

His room smells and looks like bleach... But he also uses citrus scents. He is a complete germaphobe and refuses to let ANYONE enter his room because they would tarnish it.

Has a roomba named "Vacuum" to keep his company because at least he knows it cleans and doesn't get everything dirty. Paces and rants to it like it's sentient, but gets sad when he remembers it can't speak to him and soon enough he needs to talk to real people.

Absolutely hates the friend group but has no one else, dropping them all would leave him with no one.

❝LIVIO❞

Majors in Childcare/Social Services.

Has been at Nick's hip his entire life, wanting to follow in his footsteps. Nick has to very sternly remind him to "be his own man" and "walk his own path" hence why he isn't also majoring in Philosophy.

At parties Livio tries to drink the same alcohol as Nick, but one shot makes him pass out.

Also a lover of stuffies, he and Milly often make them have playdates.

Lowest marks of the friend group, but way too stubborn to ask for help.

Best cook of the group, loves to cook and take care of everyone.

People often confide in him because of his gentle nature, he has a big soft spot for people.

Shares a dorm room with Nick, they cuddled to fall asleep growing up together, so they can't sleep away from each other.

I can't believe I'm actually posting something I made on a long ass car ride LMAO. I haven't written fanfics in a long time, and this is my first time with 'x reader' fanfics so you'll have to bear with me on this one, I'm treating this as an experiment to see if I can even make these types of fanfics (also I'm a lesbian. But I'm not immune to babygirls.). Criticism is always appreciated on this blog🤝. Also wanted to mention that english is not my first language so I apologize for my poor/repetitive vocabulary. There was an infamous guy on campus that seemingly, everyone knew. Rumors about him spread quickly every couple of weeks but what we do know is this:

He came here through a recommendation. Didn't have to work hard like the rest because his relative, supposedly late mother, was an up-and-coming biologist who apparently stuck her nose where she shouldn't have and got killed in an 'accident'. No records of said crash could be found, presumably because the government did their best to cover it up. He barely studies and instead spends time at parties getting drunk out of his mind but luckily he's incredibly smart which means all he really has to do is anxiously study the night before the test and he'll get incredible results everytime. He's kind, caring, cheerful, and many other positive adjectives, or so you've been told by your dear friend Meryl who's been trying to get you to meet him for the past few weeks. She always complained about how you need to 'live a little' because you never went out, always nose deep in some book studying or on your phone, never the outgoing type. She never forced you to go out but this time, she had to because you needed to meet Vash Saverem, the guy she would talk about nonstop.

You stood in front of the door, loud music blaring, people screaming in excitement as their favorite song came on, lights flashing in your eyes until all you could see is white. You could even make out some... questionable sounds but this was normal. This was college. You were going to grab your phone to call Meryl when she bursts out of the front door carrying quite a large, half-unconscious man.

"Oh my god you came afterall, I thought you were gonna ditch me!"

You rolled your eyes at the comment, she promised you 20 bucks if you finally came out of your hidey-hole and who are you to say no to that type of money?

"Yeah, I need to get out from time to time too."

"Good! Now come in!"

She grabs your hand and pulls you inside, giggling while doing so. Clearly she was a little tipsy already. She dragged you to the only clean table in the house, most likely defended it with her life to make sure it stays like that.

"So it's just the two of us?"

"Nope. Others are scattered around, I'll go and find them okay? You just stay here."

It was only then that the realization of what you're doing hit you. You're about to meet her friends. 3 other complete strangers that you only knew some bits and pieces about (except Vash) and you had no idea if they were even gonna like you. You looked around nervously, contemplating if this really was a good idea. The place was already cramped but somehow it felt even more cramped and stuffy in this moment.

"Are you like... sure about this?"

"What do you mean?"

It was honestly surprising how you didn't meet her friends yet, considering how much time she spent around them and how many random stories she told you about them. You made an image in your head of every single one of the individuals she spoke of. The heavily religious Nicholas D. (she said it stands for dickhead) Wolfwood who, despite studying theology and being the first person in the church on a Sunday morning, drank like a 40 year old man with marriage problems. Milly Thompson, a total sweetheart but also not the brightest bulb who went to the gym at least 4 days every week and was fucking shredded and him. Vash. The one and only. She was convinced you two would be great friends when you meet eachother but you doubted that, considering how many stories she told you about him going out to random parties. She left as quickly as she came, looking for her dear friends. You were never much of a drinker so you just sat there, looking at your phone, rejecting random advances from drunk guys&girls alike. 20 minutes pass by and Meryl is still nowhere to be seen. You get a little concerned, these types of parties could get... out of hand at times so you get up, looking for her. You walk around, trying your best not to bump into too many people but you're still met with an occasional 'hey' and 'watch it'. It's then that you witness a different scene. Two guys holding a blondie who was clearly drunk out of his mind, babbling something while the two tried to drag him upstairs. Weird... you thought. But it was then you saw them force his mouth open and quickly throw in a small, pink pill. You might not have been to many parties, but you've seen your fair share of movies and shows to know exactly where this was going. Other people saw the scene, too, but just ignored it.

Fucking Bystander effect.

You kept looking at the scene unfolding infront of you, your mind racing at a 100 miles per hour. You wanted to help obviously but could you really go up against two guys at the same time? Or would you just end up making the situation worse? It's then that you saw both of them hesitating as the blondies legs gave out on him. It was now or never. Quickly, you approached them, putting on the bravest face one could muster up in a situation like this.

"Hey, what are you two doing?"

Their heads snap back, fear in their eyes. Clearly they didn't expect someone to approach them while doing this. They looked at eachother stammering some excuses but you cut them off.

"If you don't mind, I'll be taking my friend back so he'll sober up."

You were quick, hoisted him on your back and dragged him to the nearest bathroom, locking the two of you in a stall. He was completely out of it and you could only hope it was because of the alcohol and not the pill. You forced his mouth open, he didn't swallow the pill. But even then, it must've melted at least a little. You grab the pill and flush it down the toilet, then proceed to slap him a few times so he could maybe, just maybe get a hold of himself.

"Hey, buddy wake up. What's your name?"

You kept trying but it wasn't working. He tried to say something but the words were slurred and nonsensical. You ran to the bar to get a cup of water then returned, making him drink it in hopes it would somehow help. You got your phone and tried to call Meryl to find out this mysterious mans identity at the very least but she wasn't picking up. Texting also didn't work. Frustration and anxiety kept building up, you never expected to be in this situation when suddenly, the guy handed you his apartment keys which you recognized immediately. Meryl had s similar pair which meant they lived in the same apartment complex. After some weird glances and bumping into people, you two managed to drag yourself out of the house, it felt like hours had passed by the time you were in front of his apartment, the poor guy still completely out of it. You unlocked the door hastily and dragged him inside. The apartment was... large. And fancy. Not really what you expected from someone like him. You look around, trying to find a bedroom and on your 4th try, you do. You drag him inside and lay him on the bed, taking off his long coat and his shirt so he doesn't overheat. You give him some more water to drink when finally, Meryl calls you back. Her voice is muffled, loud music still blaring and people talking in the background.

"Where'd you go? I can't find you anywhere."

"No shit, I'm freaking out cuz I'm at some guys's apartment."

You hear Meryls voice shift to being slightly panicked.

"What? Did they take you there? Are you okay?"

"I am fine but the guy certainly isn't! Someone gave him a fucking pill and I dragged him back to his apartment, he didn't swallow the pill so like... maybe he'll be fine."

"Holy fuck, uh, do you want me to come over or something?"

"I'll be fine but I'm going straight home after this. Maybe I can meet your friends another time."

"Yeah, yeah no problem. Sorry about all this I uh... didn't expect this."

You hang up and sigh heavily, putting your head in your hands assessing your situation. You're in a random, half-unconscious guys apartment, sitting down on the floor close to tears because this was NOT how this night was supposed to go. You were supposed to be drinking while meeting new friends and overall having a hell of a time. You decide there's no time to wallow in your misery and you get up, checking back on the guy. He's sleeping soundly, his beautiful facial features still visible by the moonlight seeping through the window. In a way he looked angelic... otherworldy. You grabbed a pen and some paper and wrote a small note.

"Dear stranger,

We don't know eachother but I dragged you home cuz you almost got roofied. If you still feel sick in the morning, please call an ambulance. I hope your hangover isn't too bad.

Ps. Here's my phone number in case you need help with anything."

You left it on the nightstand and quietly exited the apartment. You stumbled back home, absolutely wasted from... well, everything. You got changed, did your nightly routine and the moment your head hit the pillow you fell asleep, exhausted from everything that happened.

You woke up to the sound of your phone blaring and vibrating. You grabbed it with an annoyed groan slipping past your lips. You tried to turn off your alarm... but realize it was actually a call. Who the, and excuse my language, FUCK would be calling you at 6:07am? You answer with a raspy voice, not even bothering to clear your throat.

"Oh my God you actually picked up, hi! I'm the guy you helped yesterday."

And just like that you were wide awake. Memories of last night flooded your brain as panic set in again.

"Hey, hi, are you okay? Did you call an ambulance?"

"No I didn't, I'm doing fine now thanks to you. I wanted to thank you for helping me out. If I'm being honest I don't remember a thing so... I'm just glad I'm home safe. Thank you."

His voice was like honey, you couldn't tell if he actually sounded that nice or because you still weren't fully awake and being complemented this early in the morning gave you a kind of an adrenaline rush.

"It's no big deal really, it's the least I could've done."

You replied with a small giggle. Not sure what was so funny but just the fact that someone came to thank you for your good deed felt nice.

"It is a big deal though! I'm treating you to coffee or some cakes, I know a really good place. But it would be nice if I knew your name."

Overly-sweet, he was just like the cakes he mentioned. You couldn't help yourself but to smile, it's rare to find people like these today.

"Yeah, sure. The name is (Y/N) (L/N). And you, my mysterious drunken man?"

He giggled at the nickname. For someone to sound so angelic and energetic at 6:10am, he left you in an awe.

"Vash Saverem."

And with that your jaw just dropped. He was the guy you were supposed to get drunk with yesterday, chat about something random and not drag him half-dead body home, wondering if he'll be okay or not. You stayed silent for a couple seconds before nervously talking.

"Oh my God I know you. Kind of, you don't know me but- it's hard to explain okay? We'll talk more when we meet up, bye."

You could hear him protest on the other side of the phone but you quickly hung up out of shock and disbelief. It's like this couldn't get any weirder. You quickly call Meryl, she was gonna murder you for calling her this early but it would only be right to tell her about her friend, right? The phone rang once... twice... three times... four times... and then you heard a loud, pissy groan.

"Seriously. 6am? What is wrong with you."

"Remember the guy I had to drag home yesterday? Turns out it was Vash."

Thank the lord you moved your phone away from your ear because the screech she let out was ungodly.

"You're kidding right!? How do you know!? And is he even okay now?"

Her voice was panicked, you could tell she was concerned about her friend.

"Yes, yes he's fine now. He called me this morning cuz I left him my phone number in case he needed me for something. I still think you should go check on him, just in case."

Meryl hangs up hastily, most likely to run over to Vash's apartment to see how her friend is doing. You just stay there staring at the wall.

You wonder if you'll ever get those 20 bucks she mentioned.

This isn’t in school or anything but I figured because it’s modern au and they’re college student age and probably going to college it fit lol

-Vash loves funnel cakes. Probably prefers the OG plain powdered sugar

-Wolfwood likes chocolate syrup and powdered sugar

-Milly swears by the overly sugary strawberry jam and whipped cream

-in a rare moment of agreement, Meryl and Knives agree that they are way too sugary but Vash will insist they have a bite (they cave) (it’s still too sugary)

-Vash will do ridiculous poses on the merry go round/carousel and would love it if anyone posed with him. What do you mean there’s only one person per horse? :( it makes for a bunch of cute photos tho!!

-Vash gets a large frozen iced lemonade and Wolfwood and Nai separately warn him to not chug it all just because it’s hot out because he will get a brain freeze (guess who got a brain freeze) (him.)

-Nai kinda lags behind everyone else. He was dragged along by Vash in hopes for him to have fun, but this truly isn’t his scene.

-For the carnival games, Vash is good at the shooting but with his luck he ends up with a faulty gun. Nai bargains with the vendor to give Vash his prize

-Wolfwood and Vash have a bit of a friendly competition on who can win the most

-Milly gets lost and they find her in the livestock barns somehow inside the goat pens because she made a new friend

-Meryl berated her immediately- she was so worried! Ugh! >:( (she’s worried for her girlfriend- I mean roommate)

-Knives is the only one who can tear them away from the animal barns and it takes so so long

-Meryl has a messenger bag and she’s kinda sorta prepared? To be fair, nobody got much beforehand notice before they were just on the road and at the carnival itself lol. She has sunscreen that has to be repeatedly borrowed

-Oo also firm believer that whenever someone wants to break a 20 or smth she’s the person they go to

-you know that one carnival ride? Where you’re locked in a cage whatever and get tossed around for a good minute? Yeah Wolfwood and Vash in one of those. It’s the funniest shit ever

-Vash gets super dizzy LMAO

-he almost vomits up all the sugary shit he’s eaten 😭

-pat his back and ask him if he’s ok pls

-he’ll look up at you with weary eyes and give a thumbs up, “yeah! Fine..” (and then proceed to almost bump into Wolfwood while walking LMAO)

-Milly insists on trying a bunch of carnival food, some of her taste is really questionable (who wants deep fried lard??) but she’s just curious and if you indulge her in trying some of the greasiest oiliest food you’ve ever seen she’ll be very happy

-Nah but fr if Milly ran a food acc/food vlog she’d get so much hype bro <33

-Imagine going on the carousel with Vash OMG

-mutual pining goes crazy here like you’re laughing and taking photos (like earlier)

-Milly, Meryl and Wolfwood went to go try more food and Knives excused himself for some fresh air away from the noise and lights (it was getting overwhelming for him)

-he helps you onto the pony, hand brushing yours as you both grab onto the pole and chuckle. The music starts to play, harmonious and oddly nostalgic, lights beautiful amidst the darkening sky

-you peek at him, his orange lenses oddly fitting into the bright lights around you both. He’s got this small smile that blooms into a gushy, dorky grin that makes you almost freeze- his sandy blonde hair sways with the movement of the pony as he chuckles, almost falling off as he’s caught staring at you too

-but of course the ride ends, and your good friend Vash + yourself make it back to the rest of the gang and eventually go home

-You both think about that moment more than you’d like to admit.

Meryl is NOT the first person Vash visited and Wolfwood has had enough embarrassment for the day

and unofficially wife-d up with paper rings (congratulations!)

Vash holding Wolfwood's hands, realising that it's not as calloused, no, in fact, it's soft. Unharmed. Safe. And he's holding it. Both of his hands are holding it. And those hands are exchanging something as fragile as a paper ring, far off from what they're usually accustomed of holding in the past...

(He's holding Wolfwood's hand, he thinks again. It's soft. He wonders if he deserves to hold them.)

Except it's no longer the past, Vash knows that, and now they're here, the flimsy rings weighing heavy with the promise of tomorrows he could never hope or dream of having before. It's so comical to the point of bringing tears to his eyes.

If anyone had seen him crying that day he's blaming it on the damned ring.

I worked in a gardening center this summer and naturally i used that as inspiration for a trigun flowershop au, so here are all the doodles i did in my notebook at work between june and july

All of these were inspired by my own work shenanigans (waterhose detaching multiple times and drenching me, was late once cause i took my cat to the vet, i was made to do the gruelling task of throwing out all of our 700 ruined pansies, and if i must suffer then so does wolfwood) but to me in this au Vash and Knives inherited Rem’s flower shop (probably called the Red Geranium or something Rem sounding like that) after she died

More au notes for fun: Vash works mostly plant maintenance and customer service while Knives takes on management and part-time in-store botanist on weekends. (He was working on getting a degree in botany before the shop took priority and he put his schooling on hold, meanwhile Vash is uneducated apart from the experience of working for Rem at the shop as a summer job when he was a teenager)

Wolfwood is mysteriously indebted to Knives (Knives was doing rather sketchy things on the side while in college and ww got wrapped up in it) and one day Knives showed up and was like “yo. You owe me. Work in my understaffed flowershop, ill be taking your debt out of your paycheck.” Vash finds this very unethical

Vash met meryl and milly in college (before he dropped out) and they see each other fairly often since Milly works in delivery and hangs out a bit whenever they get a new shipment of plants from nurseries, meryl on the other hand works part-time for the shop while continuing her education on the side

I imagine Rem died when her apartment building caught fire and she went back in to try and help people (basically just tryna adapt the canon backstory to a modern au) and of course the twins were there and blame themselves (knives especially) cause Vash had just moved back in with her temporarily after dropping out of college for his mental health and Knives was visiting home for the first time in a long time

Alright that’s enough of my little floweshop au for now, they’ve just been in the back of my head all summer, it’d be fun to develop it more sometime
