Last one was so well received, I decided to do another Monet x Pietro redraw.
This time the reference is Katharine Hepburn as Amazon warrior princess Antiope & Colin Keith-Johnston as Theseus in stage production of The Warrior's Husband.
Thanks for all the love and support! Your enthusiasm keeps me going with this madness 🙌

Kiss the Blood Off My Hands (Blood on My Hands, 1948)
"Listen to me. There's nobody else I wanna be with. Nobody else I wanna talk to. What's wrong with that?"
"I'll tell you what's wrong, you're wrong. You're a coward. There was one of him and one of you; he was a much older man, I suppose if you - if you hit a child, you'd say the same thing. What's the matter with you? Why can't you be decent? Why can't you be like everybody else? You're nothing but a cheap, vicious bully."
#kiss the blood off my hands#blood on my hands#film noir#american cinema#1948#norman foster#leonardo bercovici#ben maddow#walter bernstein#joan fontaine#burt lancaster#robert newton#lewis l. russell#aminta dyne#grizelda hervey#jay novello#colin keith johnston#reginald sheffield#miklós rózsa#gerald butler#american depictions of London are always a tricky thing and this is no different; Hollywood sound stages draped in fog and cobbles#(and street organs of course) just don't convince in the same way that simply finding an anonymous bit of city might have. some creaky#artifice aside‚ this is a pretty competent little noir; Lancaster was still a newcomer but this was his first film as a producer too (he#really was an artist in film‚ right from the beginning). the script doesn't always serve Fontaine well‚ but the few good bits she gets she#absolutely seizes onto. it should be no surprise to anyone who's come across his work tho that Bob Newton steals this; he's a minor crook#whose presence is merely an awkward annoyance for most of the film‚ until this amazingly chilling transformation into something altogether#more seedy‚ more threatening and more dangerous in the final act. plotting doesn't offer much new or different and even by 1948 this feels#little overly familiar‚ but Foster does some great work with light and shadow‚ and it all has a very handsome‚ classical look#also: what a great title?? no film could live up to that kind of moniker alas. actually it got the film in some hot water with over zealous#censors‚ including here in the uk where it was released as the slightly less sordid Blood on my Hands

I've had this pose ref saved for a while and the Superman set photos just gave off the same energy 👉🏻👈🏻
The reference is this photo of Katharine Hepburn as Antiope and Colin Keith-Johnston as Theseus in the 1932 play 'The Warrior's Husband' (and I'd love for people to turn into a draw your otp meme pls pls pls this pose is so good)
And also, of course, the Superman (2025) set photos
#superfamilyweek#superman#dcu#clois#lois lane#clark kent#i was actually gonna post this a few days ago but then i found out about the superfamily week#it wasn't made for it but i hope you can accept this humble offering even if it doesn't really fit the prompts#art#digital#fanart#live-action#dc#regular#final#colour#this actually from june when the set photos came out and i just got completely obsessed and went into a clois haze#it all looks so good though!! the whole thing!!!! i'm vibrating with excitement just thinking about it!!!!!!!#if this film isn't good i'm gonna be sooo disappointed you guys have no idea how much i'm looking forward to it#but anyway. ART RAMBLES: as i mentioned on the tags of my last drawing this piece gave me SUCH a headache#i think it's probably cos it was just supposed to be a quick sketch so i used a more stable pencil brush#but then i really liked it so i decided to properly colour it instead of just doing the watercolour thing i usually do for sketches#but with finished pieces i like the lineart to be kinda messy and the sketch to even show through bit#and since i used the more stable brush for the sketch it ended up looking WAY too clean. not like my stuff at all.#so i just started throwing stuff at the wall to see what could make it more interesting. full background! actual lineart! texture layers!#and this here is what i was the happiest with. i don't... love it though. it should be looking way more interesting given the pose#and then i also did the purge girl halfway through this and it looked SO good right out of the bat (pun intended)#so i went a bit into a spiral. did some realistic stuff i'll post soon. and now am trying out a thick black lineart style.#(i'll definitely still use the coloured lines for the sketchy watercolour stuff though. it just looks way too cute)

As disappointing as it is, I have finally discovered the truth of this image and it is NOT Colin Clive as I have thought for many years.

- Does that notch...? Does that stand for a man? - That's what it stands for. - You had to put that there so you'd remember? - That's right. - Was he asleep when you shot him?

You know that old photograph from the theatre production of The Warrior’s Husband from 1932, with Katharine Hepburn and Colin Keith-Johnston? The one where she’s holding him and he’s leaning back? That, but swordvan.
Oh my Jesus. Jesus Christ. Hooooly
[Image ID: A black-and-white photo of Katharine Hepburn and Colin Keith-Johnston, on set dressed in ancient Greek costumes. Keith-Johnston is leaning back against a short wall and Hepburn has her arms around his waist, tilting him back and leaning over him. End ID]

Name a better duo than me and commissioning Vulpes Inculta / Leaena Aurea as old Hollywood actors (featuring Katherine Hepburn and Colin-Keith Johnston as Antiope and Theseus).
This is an ooooold piece by my friend Carson (@ sealpaws on twitter). This is back when Leaena didn't really have a canon design besides "lots of freckles and blonde hair and she wears red."

The Hillsborough 97
Ninety-six men, women and children lose their lives with hundreds more injured. The oldest victim was 67, the youngest, Jon-Paul Gilhooley, aged just 10, was the cousin of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The name of the 97th Hillsborough disaster victim, who died last year, has been added to Anfield's memorial. Andrew Devine suffered life-changing injuries in the crush at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final in Sheffield, but survived until his death in July 2021.
