The Basics

So yeah.. This is the basic idea behind the comic. I’ll  post the characters and some of the finished designs later.

In this universe two beings are told to be the ancestors of all living beings. The Phoenix and the Leviathan. They are masters of their respective element. As the strongest beings on Earth they are worshipped as gods.

Every animal has some of their powers inside them. The ones who live in or near the waters are closer to the Leviathan and the ones who live on land are closer to the Phoenix. Some of these animals have a stronger connection to the elements than others, this can be tought or inherited. These beings now live in groups divided by water and fire. They think of themselves to be better than other, weaker animals. To keep their line of fire/water as clean as possible, they have seperated themselves completely from any lesser being.

Two groups of fire-beings are always holding a rivalry against each other. A fire and a water group on the other hand are in a constant battle of hegemony.

In two of these groups the story takes place. The tribes of the water and fire cats. These cats are known to be the best users of their powers which is one of the main reason why they live on their own instead of with humans like lesser talented cats tend to do.

The leader of the tribes is decided by combat. Members who  want to become a leader need to challenge and beat the deputy first to get their position. After the death of the leader they will take their place.

Elders are often grandmasters who will help the younger cats to control their power. Besides that training they also get general battle training, so each paw has two mentors. The tribe of the phoenix cats does not have a grandmaster at the moment which brings a lot of problems with it since they need every warrior they have and cannot give two for each paw away.

The cat tribes constantly suppress the other animals in the forest. For them they are mostly just food, everyone else is chased out. But this also helps the other animals since they only have to fear the cats no other predator and the tribes do not want any of their food groups to become extinct so they keep everyone during the no-hunting-season alive.

Once a month all living beings of the forest come together to pray to their gods. This opportunity is also often used to settle arguments of all kind.

Humans are as good as powerless. Some are more coldresistant than  others or tend to sweat more/less but that is basically it.  They have a different kind of ability. Humans are very good in changing the world to one that fits them. This however also gives them the power to destroy which they use frequently.
