Happy STS! What is your character's favourite possession? Share a snippet about it if you like 💜
Not something I've thought about for all my characters, but for the ones that I have:
From The Archivist's Journal:
The Archivist: The journal.
Maiko: A carved figurine of a animal that the Archivist has never heard of and may not exist in the world of the Village. Apparently it's something like a dog in behavior and social role if not in form. Her mother made it for her when she was a child.
Vernon: The coat that acts as the symbol of his status as Village mediator. How he doesn't get heat stroke walking around in it in tropical weather remains a mystery to the Archivist.
From Empty Names:
Road: Their shapeshifting jacket. Although given that it's sort of alive, it might be more pet than possession.
Sullivan: His wedding ring.
Ashan: Ashan (mostly by choice) has very few worldly possessions, and those select items that he hangs onto are each precious in some way. Here's a snippet about it:
It is always a strange feeling, waking up in an unfamiliar bed. Doubly so when you are not used to waking up in a bed at all. Though for all that strangeness, Ashan finds himself conceding to no one in particular that it does feel nice. The weight of the blankets, the texture of the pillowcase, such things are absent from his usual habit of simply sleeping suspended midair inside a climate-controlled privacy ward. Perhaps his standard sleep ritual is not quite as superior to ordinary bedding as he likes to believe.
Then again, he is finding it unusually difficult to get up and moving now that he is awake. A result of poor sleep quality induced by physical bedding or just leftover exhaustion from yesterday? Surely he is not giving in to the indulgence of luxury. But it does feel nice just lying here, half asleep with the blankets curled tight around him and the morning light barely filtering in through dual layers of window and bed curtains.
Take a rest. Sleep in. You’ve earned it.
Ashan throws back the covers and pivots to sit upright with his legs hanging over the side of the bed, brushing against the surrounding drapery.
That is the sort of thing she would say to him on a morning like this. Or… no? That is what Road said last night before leaving him to retire for the evening.
Hers is the voice he imagines though.
Without the covers over him he suddenly feels terribly exposed. Pulling the bed’s curtain aside, he reaches out, snaps his wizard’s raiment from where he left it last night and quickly slips into it. He can count on one hand the number of times since returning to the world of his birth that he’s taken it off. Not coincidentally, it’s the same as the number of times he’s actually bathed instead of simply magically cleaning himself and his clothes. That had been the first complex spell his teacher had taught him and she’s ever been invented.
If you never master another spell, at least learn this one. Best spell that’s ever been invented.
And yet, there was a relaxation to warm water that the spell’s efficiency cut out.
He checks the contents of his sleeves, verifying that everything is accounted for. Wand, white with a blended rainbow. Coinpouch, now stuffed with more folded paper currency than coin. Portable makeup kit, understated yet elegant in its lid’s design. The sum total of his worldly possessions. All gifts from her, directly or indirectly, the same as his robes.
He raises a hand to draw a mirror in the air but stops himself short. He should not strain himself more than necessary after yesterday’s burnout. And besides, there is a perfectly good vanity set against the wall opposite of the foot of the bed.
After opening the window blinds to let in the sunlight and a view of the estate’s gardens he takes a seat in front of the vanity’s mirror, sets down the makeup kit, opens it, selects a brush, and gets to work.
This had been a daily morning ritual for Ashan, once upon a time. The subtle transformation of his face is not so much a masking over but a drawing out of how he sees himself. He had tried to make adjustments when he had first gone his separate ways from his teacher - experimenting with the angle and curve of the eyeliner, going lighter on the contouring, altering the blend on colors - but it had never felt like him in the mirror afterward. While he might have copied her style to begin with, it was his just as much as it was hers now.
Wrapping up the finishing touches and closing the box some minutes later he pauses, considering. These days he normally ends the application with a spell to keep the makeup pristine and in place for a week or more in order to preserve the kit’s dwindling supplies that he still has not been able to find satisfactory replacements for on this world. But there is the matter of overexertion to consider.
In the end, he returns the kit to his sleeve and heads to the bedroom door without any spellcasting. If there is one occasion that warrants wasting a little bit of material to look his best then surely spending a day in the home of the sorceress Bridgewood is it.
#The money and coinpouch don't count as part of Ashan's “precious possessions.” Carrying that around is just a necessity.#sts#sts ask#answered asks#ask#writeblr#my writing#writers on tumblr#empty names#oc ask

I vanished fir a while because I was spending all my time slowly making things lol.
Everything under the cut because there's A LOT of images.
Like this corset, which is made out of cotton with leather panels on the outside, because I didn't want visible boning channels. I used the cotton layers to fit and adjust the fit, but I kinda forgot to mentally remove the seam allowance on the bottom, so I made it accommodate hips that don't actually start yet. I also didn't really want waist reduction so I just made it to fit me as is, though I can probably tighten the laces if I want to.
This is a book purse made from a thrifted book. Who knew that if you put things on fabric, it bulges? Imagine that. So yeah, rip my fancy folding pleats to mimic pages. I just ended up running a thread through thr inside bits of the pleats to keep them together. Lost some functionality, gained aesthetic?
Some relatively quick and easy projects to really live my asventuring elf fantasy. Iput some change in the coinpouch and my meds in the beltbag, gotta be prepared, you know? xD
The elf ears I've had for years, but I psinted ttem with acrylic paint because they discoloured over time. I also added a bunch of cheap but cute earrings - I thought it'd be hard, got my awl out and everything, but I could just stick the earrings through. Easy!
I'm quite pleased with the finished look:
#Gwynn.txt#Really fucking lobg post#Omw to elfia as I write this lol#Also if you see trash in my pics - no you don't#Sorry I spent all my energy making things#I got started on the coat to go under tge cape#So the cape will function as dramatic sleeves#But it was hell#I spent like 6 hours figuring out how to fi welt pockets with the pattern pieces provided before concluding that they just don't fit#It's a problem for another day lol#Sewing#diy craft#elfia

10 ) The Garbage Collector.
In Novigrad, some folks pay a premium to have their trash collected every other week. Instead of having to keep and burn your own, or hope the smell of rotting food didn’t turn away customers, most tavern and inns pay whatever is demanded.
One such customer was the Chameleon.
The sun had already dipped low enough that the shadows of the stone walls and buildings draped across the streets. The last bits of sunlight slipping into the cracks wherever it can, burn orange colouring like a toddlers hand.
Waiting just beyond the front door, was Priscilla. A woven basket in her hands, the small bits of garbage they had collected strewn inside. When she saw the man come trotting down, pulling his cart behind him, she waved him down.
He just couldn’t understand.
She shook the minuscule amount in the cart, smiled, and reached to unhook a hefty coin sack from her belt.
“Oi, got any more in there?” He couldn’t help it. Gesturing toward the open door of the tavern, the outdoor performers paying little attention to the man. Priscilla paused, fingers now tracing the beading of her belt. Her other hand tucking the basket under her arm.
“You know how we are, good sir! Rare we have anything to toss!”
“Aye, but I thinks you’re forgetting something.”
Priscilla narrowed her eyes, the man stared like he had just answered her question.
“… No sir, this is all we got? Thank you for asking.” She didn’t move to offer the pouch, even with the sureness of her words. She knew this wasn’t the end of the discussion.
“So, you folks pay so much, every time we come round. And most times you have nothing for the pile. And the times you do, it’s hardly scraps.” The man, expecting an explanation, guffawed when she simply shrugged.
“Come now! I heard from the hunter that the fella Zoltan placed an order for rabbit and pheasant. Many of them, if he did not fib. So tell me, where are the carcasses?”
Priscilla seemed to pale at that, eyes widening ever so slightly. The man cocked a brow. In the encroaching darkness, their faces only half highlighted by the torches and oil lamps that the people began to light.
Almost like a whisper, Priscilla tucked her auburn hair behind her ear. Thick locs only being held back for a few moments before they slipped back to frame her face. But that was all the Man needed.
Pheasant feathers. Tied with beads and thread, an earring. An earring on an ear with a slight pointed tip to it. Now, it was the man’s turn to widen his eyes.
“Lady Callonetta, the rumours are real? I knew about your companionship, but you as well?”
“Well, my good man, will you still take my coin?”
Instead of accepting her offer of payment and to continue his route, he couldn’t help but push some more. “Does this make you Scoia’tael? Do they guard this place?”
“I’d have to join to be a member, like how you’re not in the army if you’re born in Nilfgaard. And no, not to my knowledge.”
“Is your mother human? She must be, aye?”
“Well, sure she is, but she’s not from any settlement you’d know.”
By now, Priscilla has crossed the small barrier between them, coinpouch hanging from her outstretched hand.
“So you make jewelry? Only jewelry?”
“You don’t see me wearing rib bones, do you? Everything has a purpose, these feathers were for my crafts. Now, you should take your money and go.”
When the man opened his mouth again, a different voice was heard. It came calling from the warmth of the Chameleon. When it was heard, Priscilla couldn’t help but smile.
“Oi, Kwitókwito, get inside! Or I’m gonna start stretching the hides, and the bet is still on, You hear?” Zoltan. There was a chance he was calling out to scare off the collector. Or his impatience had finally won.
Either way, it did work. The garbage man finally took his payment, hooking the sack on his own belt. Priscilla stood back, giving him ample room to maneuver the cart, sending a friendly smile his way.
Behind her, a drummer brought down his mallet on his hand drum, thunder seeing the man out.
23) Low Stakes Gambling gets Heated.
“No, no- walk me though your plays again. You couldn’t have done what you did.”
The Lodge was seen, to many who wish to discredit the sorceresses at any chance, as something dark. Scary. Mystery and an air of intrigue.
In actuality, while they did try to see how they could influence the rulers, it was to see how far they could push their agenda of protection. Pass laws to allow them easier access to owning homes and travel passes. Before they would have to take to more physical means to prove a mage should not be trifled with.
At the moment, while waiting for Kiera and Síle to show, they’d taken to Gwent.
And Phillipa was certain that Yennefer of Vengerburg- Yes, the Horsewoman of War- had cheated. It didn’t help she was giggling to herself.
“Did you check the stars before you played, my dear?” Fringilla chimed. “Maybe they would have told you how Yennefer would cheat you of five coins.”
Truly, there was no loss. But Phillipa was certain that Yennefer had played too many cards. Pushing her just over Phillipa’s score.
The blindfold she wore, the one she used to see after loosing her eyes, blinked angrily. The threads twisting and weaving to mimic actual eyes. Triss placed two drinks in front of the betting women, having been the one to refill their glasses the whole time they played.
“I’ll play you five coins if you give Yennefer the five coins?” It was a small offering, one she knew was going to fail, but she still offered it.
“Oh, don’t fret too hard, Phillipa! Yennefer was still giggling. “I asked my magic ball how to-“ she broke into a full throated laugh, knowing she was playing into being ridiculous. So was Fringilla. Phillipa had almost puffed herself up like a bird, by that point.
“Keep it up, Yennefer! Maybe I’ll find a nice travelling band to dump you on. You can cast little shines for them. I know how you adore to travel.”
“I do! But only with people I know. And with people I can beat at cards.”
Triss, having joined Fringilla’s side, leaned in to whisper to the other woman. “Did she actually?”
Fringilla smiled, dimples pulling at her cheeks. “No, she just had an unruly amount of spies. I think Phillipa lost count.” She whispered back. They both paused, seeing the two now trying to play the other for a fool, Phillipa starting to have a ghost of a smile on her face. The others must just be down the road now, as well.
“Hm, I need to check on the curry.” Still whispering, like their meal was a secret, Triss changed subjects. “If I overcook the lamb I’ll never hear the end of it.”
“That you will, I’ve been looking forward to this meal. Go, start plating. They’ll forget about their tryst here once they hear plates.”
As Triss moved towards the kitchen once more, one of the woman make a comment about fortune telling. And both of them finally broke into a fit of laugher.
33) Investigating an Abandoned Place
“Elven.” Stated Lambert.
“Elven.” Echoed Eskel.
They’d found the carving of the head of a Griffin on a rock a few steps away from the entrance to the ruin. If Geralt’s tracking was right, Coën had been here. Now, they needed to see if he was still here. Though, based on the flooded floor from last nights rain, Geralt wouldn’t be surprised if he had left during the night.
Now that they were there, they slowed their investigation and began… poking around.
“Burial tomes are still solid. No man had been down here. No treasure hunter or historian or… Whatever.” Lambert had only checked to relight the fire, stood high enough the pooling water couldn’t reach it, one that had been lit the night before.
“Those are sitting tomes, aren’t they? You don’t see those all too often anymore.” Eskel’s voice echoed across the room, his hands brushing the remains of herb bundles. His hands paused their movements, finding something of importance amongst the dried, fragile remains.
Geralt paused his investigation of, what looked to be, a set of once cleaned deer furs. Eying the knelt form of the larger man, he waited to see what he had discovered.
“Geralt, could you come handle this? It’s not mine to hold.” He stated it matter of factly, standing and taking a step away from it. Lambert, now curious, pulled away from his own investigation and moved to join Eskel. Long legs crossing the distance quickly. He seemed to stumble when he noticed what Eskel found, though he would deny it later.
Geralt took a moment to wonder, imagine what he would find. A dagger of lore, a headdress in perfect condition, beading work that rivalled any living hand.
When he did finally catch a glance, he understood why neither Eskel or Lambert had picked it up. A sacred bundle.
They could recognized it easily, Eskel was their Fire Keeper and Lambert was usually the dancer. Geralt was the Bundle Keeper.
When they were younger, Eskel had asked Geralt to be his Bundle Keeper. A few years after that, they both pursued Lambert and asked if he would be willing to participate. He already seemed to know Red River jigs, and was quick to learn Fancy dance on top of that.
Now, the three of them watched the forgotten sacred bundle like it could run away. Geralt took a moment, deep breath in then out, before kneeling to pick it up.
“Do you think it belonged to one of the buried?” Lambert offered, after a moment of quiet.
“Sad thing, then, it wasn’t passed down.” Eskel shifted, the noise of gravel and water grinding beneath his heel.
“We should burn it. For them, I think.” Geralt looked over his shoulder, eyeing the fire by the tomes.
There was no argument amongst the three.
A moment before they finished their setup, Lambert called everyone’s attention.
“Did Coën miss the bundle? Weird we haven’t found a note.”
Geralt offered, “We haven’t been looking for his traces, have we?”
Eskel finished, “The bundle was buried in the remains of the herbs. I think he did that.” almost forgot questions here !

A good chunk of this is lifted from Tumblr, but a few bits are made up and one bit is from a book I enjoy:
I still want to DM a game where there's a large city, not quite capital of the country, but quite large for a city, that was founded by a level 20 adventuring party. The Wizard has become that good aligned lich variant from 3.5, the Cleric is a Mummy Lord. Rogue went Vampire at some point, and the Fighter is a Deathless or Deathknight, or whatever that guy is called.
There'd be rumors that when you're in danger, reciting this line about not wanting to be in danger from a kids book might save you.
And every so often, there's a gang that tries to mug someone who remembers their childrens book, and they get the words right, and the wish spell the adventurers agreed to work with triggers again.
Suddenly the muggers, 3rd level rogues and fighters mostly, are facing down an indistinguishable shadow that reacted to a thrown knife by throwing the thrower off a roof. He wasn't on a roof when he threw it, but somehow he got up there right after the knife left his hand.
A decade later a construction worker falls from the top of the library doing some repair work after a storm. She recites her sons favorite line from their routine bedtime story, and she swears up and down that a seagull cast featherfall on her.
A raiding party of gnolls shows up. Somehow they've avoided the outlying towns and farms and have worked their way into the sewers. The guards sent in after them come back missing three members and needing lots of therapy.
After the traps went off and immobilized everyone the gnolls came out of nowhere. They managed to kill 3 gusrdsmen before one of them, babbling incoherently, recited an old poem from his childhood.
Suddenly there was a warrior among them who didn't care about the traps, he stepped deftly around every attack, and in a flurry of shield, sword, and armor, dispatched the gnolls and cut the surviving guards free.
The only words spoken were "For their families" before three bags of platinum were left with the three murdered guards. The symbol on each coinpouch is the same as the one on the centuries old statue of the founders. None recognized the voice, but what they remember of the armor seems to be the same as the statue as well.
If anyone powerful enough moves into town and makes a name for themselves they get a visit. They're welcome to stay as long as they don't cause trouble, but it's not *their* city, that fact is made multiple times.
Party completely made up of undead adventurers who are all trying to hide from the rest of the party that theyre undead, theyre all using the others as standards for what normal living people act like.
What we do in the shadows.
Prove me wrong.

A sly smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he looked to Ambrose almost knowingly, as if aware of the arousing affect his outburst of violence had on him. The mage was much easier to read then Ambrose could read him. But the knight said nothing as he stepped out of the way and went over to wait in the doorway as some weird curse was performed.
When Ambrose was done cursing the man and this building he silently followed to the study where he waited for the money to be found. He didn't expect a portion to be given to him and arched a brow when it was placed in his hand with a suggestive remark about pleasing him. "Mhm..." He grunted not really knowing what to say to that and just pocketed the coinpouch.
He escorted Ambrose down to the basement where he checked to make sure no one else was hiding to attack. With it safe he nodded for the mage to come fetch his book. The pulse of magic didn't impress him and he breathed out impatiently. "If that's your book then my job here is done. You don't need me to escort you back to your place. I'm going home. Goodnight Ambrose." The knight unceremoniously excused himself and headed back up stairs to head out. The mage knew how to contact him if he had more work, but with this payday he would be comfortable without having to do any extra side work.
The man cried out, trying to plea with Tozen when the mage gave him full permission. But he was quickly silenced, other than the whimpers and cries of agonizing pain.
Ambrose could hear the man’s bones break and unlike most people, Ambrose didn’t look away, he didn’t flinch. No, he was smirking, fixated on the display of strength. But he wasn’t really watching the target anymore, though still interesting, the one who was inflicting the damage was far more fascinating. The aggression he showed, the muscles that bulged before impact. He saw the sweat forming on the fighter’s head, the concentration. Very fascinating indeed.
When Tozen was done, when he flipped some hair away from his sweaty face, that was like the cherry on top. “Hmm, very entertaining…” he hummed very pleased. The show of violence by this man had him feeling a little uncomfortable, but he took a deep breath and got up from the bed. Giving Gregory one more look and thought it be best to curse him now.
Ambrose walked over to the unconscious man and grabbed the little pouch from his pocket and opened it up, pushing his hand inside. When he pulled it out, he had his hand locked in a fist. He knew that this event would have the man in fear for a very long time. But that wasn’t enough. He muttered something in a different language, blowing into his hand once he opened up from the lock. Continued muttering and then the lights flickered again, shadows moving on their own and moving into the bones of the house as well as into the man itself.
“Alright, let’s get what belongs to me…” He still had things rushing through his system and fuck, would he loved to have Tozen mess him up too, differently, but still. Mess him up in return.
He walked down the stairs and headed to the study where he reached for the third book on the third bookcase. Behind it was a secret compartment where there was more gold than what he was owed and he took it all. Guessing by the weight, there was about 4000 coins, 1500 more than what he paid for the book. When Tozen was behind him, he gathered a different pouch and filled it up with 25% of the complete amount and held it out for the fighter. “I was very entertained, and I like to give extra for those who know how to please me. Take whatever else you want.” He gave him a wink, dropping the pouch and then wondered off to the basement.
There was his book, disrespectfully placed between normal books, empty scrolls and it made him growl somewhere deep in his throat. Ambrose took it, dusted it off and held it out before him. The binding was pristine, the cover a deep, dark purple and when the mage touched it, it was pulsing with power.

New bag design! It's a little bigger then my small bags, I think I'm going to make a few single color large bags with this design. I love the texture on the outside ahh!! #crochet #crochetersofinstagram #handmade #texture #dicebags #coinpouches #treasurebag https://www.instagram.com/p/CDUTlhuJ_F5/?igshid=a46pc48yjtlz
