Granted, this looks like a lovely 1877 second empire townhouse with a Mansard roof. It's in Minneapolis, MN, has 1bd, 1.5ba, and is listed for $1.2M + $1,029mo HOA (which really surprised me).
This is no ordinary townhouse. Walk through the cathedral-like doors and to the right is a small bar and wine rack.
And, to the left is this magnificent dining room under a dreamy carved wood pavilion with a painted ceiling.
But, that's not all. Check out the natural looking stone wall. And, the description says that it could possibly be an old tunnel that was sealed. (I would have to take a sledgehammer to it, then.)
Have you ever seen a fancier powder room? Fabric is on the wall in an assortment of carved frames with a mirror to match. The sink base is an intricately carved wood piece with a marble top. The faucet looks like a gold swan drinking from a large crystal bowl. Wow, I know I would chip that sink.
The casual living/family room features a brick wall with an arch and shelving. The rest of the room has lovely tall wainscoting and beamed wood ceilings. It also has stained glass upper windows.
The everyday dining room is right outside the kitchen.
Have you ever seen a kitchen like this? The wood countertops have flowers painted on them. Just noticed that's an Aga stove. (That size costs about $23K.)
The backsplashes over the stove and sink are detailed mosaics.
Even the little nook by the coffee bar has a mosaic backsplash.
The home is on 3 levels, so it's difficult to determine what floor this room is on. As you can see it's very elegant, very pink, with lovely white wainscoting, a magnificent fireplace and gold accents.
It looks comfortable and sunny, though. Love the chandelier, corbels and decals on the walls. (I'm not into tapestries, however.)
The owner commissioned a muralist to paint the stairwells. Note the fancy doors.
There's only 1 bd. and it has murals of the mountains of Japan, plus woven walls to make it look like a Minka, a traditional Japanese home.
Check out the entrance to the en-suite guarded by Fu Dogs.
The black granite tub has a big dragon head faucet. Wow, this is insane. Look at the floor and the wood walls.
Even the pattern in the shower looks like mountains.
Behind the doors there's a washer and dryer.
The sink vanity looks like an antique Japanese bureau and look at the private room for the black toilet.
You get 1 garage and 2 open spaces.
That's the Mississippi River across the street. It looks like there's a rooftop deck with sun rooms, too.

Southern Caffeine (RI)
Jay Halstead x Baker!Reader Warnings: None i think
Author note: As always, feedback is greatly appreciated
Lemon Drops Cafe and Bakery. Big bright yellow and white letters read, and slight lemon decals surrounded the sign. Jay checked his phone before entering the shop; Hailey had insisted that the ex-army ranger get the morning coffee from the new bakery since the one in the break room was utterly broken. Pushing the glass door open, a light twinkle of a bell announced Jay’s presence. A head popped through the doorway that seemed to lead to the kitchens.
“I’ll be with you in a second.” A southern drawl stunned Jay.
The inside of the bakery was just as cozy as the exterior. Clusters of yellow chairs were pushed into three wooden tables, each bearing a yellow and white lemon tablecloth and varying-sized pillow. Along the opposite wall rests a series of tall displays, most filled with either what smelt like fresh loaves or display cakes. Turning more towards the counter, Jay noticed that in between the large coffee machine and the small portion of the counter dedicated to the register was a large display cupboard partially filled with cookies, cupcakes and some savory treats. Along the wall behind the counter, Jay could see an assortment of coffee bean bags that looked like they had yet to be packed away in the above cupboard and potted plants. The bakery overwhelmingly filled Jay with a sense of calm, and he loved the welcoming, cozy, homely environment that Hailey had sent him into.
A young woman soon walked out of the kitchen doorway and greeted Jay warmly. Her Y/H/C was haphazardly thrown into a bun, and a yellow ribbon wrapped around the tie. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt beneath a pale yellow apron and chocolate brown pants. Her apron was covered in white dashes of flour and smudges of frosting and chocolate. The pin on her apron read Y/N, a sticker of a small bundle of lemons decorating the rest of the pin. When Jay’s eyes reached her face, he took note of the imperfect splash of flour that dusted her cheeks and the bright smile that graced her features.
“Good Morning. What can I get ya?” Her voice was perfectly airy and sweet, like the melody of his favorite song. For once, the voice wasn’t dull or uninterested; instead, it sounded like she genuinely wanted to be covered in flour dust and chocolate smudges at nearly 6:30 in the morning.
“Four large double shot coffees and Hailey Upton’s usual.” He recited the order that Hailey had given him only ten minutes earlier. Jay moved to open his wallet to pay when Y/N simply shook her head.
“No need to pay, it’s on the house.” Her smile was blinding as she moved further down to the coffee machine, Jay following.
“At least let me tip you or something”, Jay argued as the women moved expertly around the small area, quickly making the coffee’s and packing a small box full of freshly baked treats.
“Please, this is the least I can do for you guys”, she spoke, “Besides, that would be breaking my own rules” " she said, pointing towards the large poster plastered above the register. Jay followed her finger and shook his head as he read the sign.
‘Cops, Firefighters, Doctors and Nurses, drinks and treats are on the house, No exceptions!!’
“My dad was a ranger and taught me the value of first responders, so when I started my business, I made it a rule that those who protect us, normal people, from our stupidity would never have to pay. Plus, I make enough profit to cover it anyway.” As she pushed the box and cup tray towards Jay, she gestured to the jar on the counter next to the register, “But if your conscience won’t let you leave without leaving a tip, then here, donate to this month’s charity, the Chicago police fund” Jay practically swooned over her smile this time. pushing a few large bills into the jar, Jay left the cafe with a dopey smile and a mental promise never to get coffee anywhere else.

note: just before i posted this, i saw that @2fingerswhiskey already converted the retroplex tv console--you can grab their version here!

WIP Excerpt - Aaron Hotchner x teen!reader
I thought I would share just a little snippet of a project I'm working on. It's a series about Aaron meeting a teenager on a case who ends up being involved, and there's just something so familiar about her...
Reader does use she/her pronouns.
Everyone had that one touchy subject that seemed to bring back memories of events and cases past. Everyone knew that J.J. was the one who was affected by cases involving children.
But this time it was Hotch who felt his chest restrict with each new fact presented. With every body found the pressure of solving this case felt ten times heavier on his shoulders.
On his nightstand, the alarm clock’s neon blue numbers read 3:22 A.M. He was pacing around the hotel room, mind racing a mile a minute. The facts and theories of the case were incredibly confusing. Everytime the team got close, something drastic changed and they were at square one.
Four young, innocent girls were dead, and a fifth was going to be soon if they didn’t shape up.
Hotch glanced out the window of the third story room to see a small diner in the plaza across the street. On its left there was a tobacco store with big yellow block lettering covering the window pains with advertisements promoting vapes and discounted cartons of Mavericks. To its right there was a laundromat, with a few letters of the sign tilted from rusted out nails crumbling away instead of holding it fast. The glowing blue and pink sign on the diner read “open 24 hours”, though it flickered out every few seconds. Glancing at the clock on the wall, he sighed.
Nothing was getting done in this small room, and the diner would have coffee. He had heard before the coffee from 24 hour diners was always better. He doubted that to be true, but at least it would be caffeinated.
He grabbed the coat off of the chair in the corner of the room, and quietly left, locking the door behind him.
It was a short walk across the street. He pushed open the door, and a bell jingled.
Soft sounds of 70’s music filled his ears. His eyes found a pastel yellow and mint green jukebox in the corner. It was your typical retro themed diner. Checkerboard flooring, blue and pink booths and tables, milkshake decals on the wall, and a long bar that a waitress was cleaning with a rag. With the typical 50’s decorations and colors, but 70’s music playing and newspapers from the 80’s on the wall, the establishment seemed to lack a general knowledge on what decade it was supposed to be emulating. Nonetheless, there was a pot of coffee sitting behind the counter, and it wasn’t like this was the strangest 3 A.m. experience he had ever had.
Hotch looked away and sat at the counter, waiting patiently for the waitress to meander her way over to him. She finished wiping down the section of counter she had been working on and dropped the rag in a basket beneath the counter. Finally, she looked over at him.
20-24 year old girl, medium build, round face, brown eyes, umber skin, and dark black waves of hair. She shouldn’t be working alone at night, he thought. Not with a killer on the loose.
“What can I get for you?” She asked, all but rolling her eyes. Her name tag said “Marisa”.
“Just a coffee please.” He said quietly.
“Black?”
He nodded.
As she went across the room to fill up a mug, he took a moment to revel in the peace he rarely got to feel while on a case.
The soft lighting and low music was almost comforting, in an odd way. He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
Marisa set the mug of steaming coffee in front of him. “Just brewed a new pot, so you’re lucky.”
“Thanks-”
The jingling of the door interrupted him.
“Marisa, darling!” A feminine voice cooed.
The waitress had a look of annoyance flash across her face before she quickly covered and plastered on a smile.
“Julie, welcome in. Go ahead and take your usual booth. I’ll get you a coffee and… I’m so sorry sweetheart, what’s your name again?”
“Y/N. I’ll have orange juice, please.”
At the mention of her name Hotch looked over his shoulder. Y/N was dressed in a pair of plaid pajama pants and an oversized hoodie. Her shoulders were hunched and as she sat down in the both, she immediately curled into the corner, like it was supporting her. Dark circles hung under her eyes and as he watched, she put a hand up to her mouth to hide a yawn.
It was early Thursday morning. And unless there was something going on that he didn’t know about, she had school in four hours. What was she doing up?

Break
He awoke in a pool of sweat. Jane was a little confused at first- he was in an odd state otherwise, as well. He was fully dressed but for one boot, his dog tags were absent from their usual place beneath his shirt. His arms ached for something but were notably empty. Blinking in the morning light, grabbing a used t-shirt off the floor to wipe his face off with, the memory of the night previous began to trickle back into his head. That’s right, he was sweaty because he was sick- the fever must have broken in his sleep and he did feel significantly better. He remembered that. Then he remembered everything else- and it was like a jolt of the strongest coffee right into his veins. Every single neuron in his brain lit up like a torch, his eyes widening and breath gasping inward as everything that had transpired last night smacked him square in the middle of the forehead like a painfully romantic sledgehammer. “...Fritz.” He bolted out of bed, stripping off his damp clothes in favor of dry ones. He couldn’t remember ever getting dressed so quickly. A frantic search for his missing boot turned up empty- no amount of flipping furniture and bedclothes or swearing would conjure it into existence. Grumbling, he tugged on his spare pair- still new, not yet broken in the way he liked- and sped out the door, cramming an apple in his mouth mid-jog. Every few strides was met with an emphatic crunch and spray of juice behind him. He’d made a promise to be somewhere. And he couldn’t get there fast enough.
The fact that his destination seemed disconcertingly quiet should have been something that gave the former Soldier pause. Maybe had he been in a less excitable frame of mind he would have stopped to consider it. But he’d run all the way here, his feet knowing the way by pure instinct. His helmet had nearly flown off his head as he turned corners. Doors flew open at his touch, flung forward by their handles and knobs. Here he was. A simple door. A simple decal on the frosted glass window reading ‘MEDICAL’. Reaching out, Jane grasped the knob. “Fritz? It’s me. I’m here. ... Please be here too.” A twist. A push. A twist, inside his ribcage this time. The office was empty. It had been empty for quite some time. It was just as Jane remembered it- not last night, but before. A year ago. Massive lettering sprawled on the walls. The rust-copper scent of old blood not quite washed away. Newer scrawls, disdainful, from morbidly curious ‘explorers’. Murderer. Monster. Doctor Death Was Here. He fell to his knees, eyes wide, flooding, his gasping breath from his long run, his cracking heart, stirring the dust motes floating lazily in the air. Dazedly, he got up slowly, staggering drunkenly almost to the dust-covered couch. More motes flew up like fungal spores as he flopped onto it with a deep, primal sound that could only be called a wail. A wail, that became a torrent of sobs. The rainstorm was internal and he was curled up on the couch and he was alone. He was alone. And then the phone rang, sharp and startling in the thick silence. Again. Insistent in not leaving the Soldier to his grief. It hurt to rise, but rise he did. The stagger wasn’t drunken now, but zombie-like. Why was the desk so clean? In this dusty room it was immaculate. Jane reached out. His calloused fingers curled around the heavy, black receiver, feeling like solid lead as he lifted it to his ear...

Homesick
I think a part of me will always be homesick.
I miss the comforter I used all my life, the footsteps of my grandpa in the hallway as he left for work, the coffee machine being turned on at 5 am, the dogs that barked at first light.
The neon green I painted my bedroom walls, the trampoline in the backyard, the cracks in the driveway, the bird nest in the rafters of the front porch.
The giant magnolia tree outside my bedroom window, the frogs that croaked on the window ledge, the whirlybirds that spun in the wind, the hiss of the water hose when washing cars.
The neighbor mowing his lawn at 7 am on Saturday, the smell of barbecue on the grill, the family swing by the shed, the daffodils that grew in between the fences, the decals for every holiday we hung on the windows, the cds we played when swimming.
I miss it, goddamn do I miss it.
The memories of my childhood home make me fall to my knees when I let them wash over me.
I grew up there, that house saw me grow up long enough for me to leave.
I don’t think a house will ever feel the same as that one did.
I don’t think know I’ll never stop being homesick for my childhood.

Coffee and Whiskey
Peter Criss, The Catman/ Reader, mentions of alcohol, smoking, shotgunning, drugs as per usual
┍━━━━━━━ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ━━━━━━━┑
You were once again, all alone, sitting at the bar in a bustling club, sipping a glass of ice cold water. You were irritated, of course you were, you had the right to be! Your friends dragged you out here and got drunk off their asses and they're acting like complete fools. The loud music accompanied by handsy people were mixing together into a foul cocktail, completely ruining your evening and giving you a headache. You weren't too keen on drinking alcohol either, didn't enjoy the after effects, so you were more than happy to deal with water.
You turned around in your seat, doing a quick scan over the crowd to find those lunatics you called friends, spotting one in the lap of some strangely-dressed man in orange. 'Good for them,' you thought, turning back to the bar and letting out a small sigh. You took your glass and firmly set it down, looking to the bartender.
"I'm done. I'm going to take a walk." you muttered, getting out from your seat and taking your jacket with you.
The club itself was pretty big, had some sort of funky name, one you couldn't remember well. The walls had decals along them, some looking like cats and the rest were something else entirely. Maybe there was some deeper, hidden meaning, but you wouldn't bother looking into it. There was a set of stairs leading up, but to where? Who knew. You didn't really give a shit what it was. It was none of your business, as far as you were concerned. You continued your stroll around the place, stopping to lean against a wall.
"Don't look too happy," a voice spoke up beside you, making you jump in place.
A man, almost six feet tall it seemed, was leaning against the wall, green eyes fixated on you. He had a cigarette hanging from his lips, a fluffy green coat, silver and black clothing with platform heels to match, and the strangest display of makeup adorning his face. He blew a ring of emerald smoke toward you, chuckling when your eyes seemed to glaze over for a moment, confusion washing over you.
"What's your name, beautiful?" He questioned, amused when you found it difficult to form words and answer him. "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?"
You tried looking away from him, you wanted to walk on, tell him to fuck off, maybe grab another drink, but something, you couldn't quite put your finger on, was keeping you held in place. It was almost as if his mere presence was keeping you there, in absolute awe of the man. He was quite entertained, licking his painted lips and beckoning you closer until you were chest to chest. He took a slow and thoughtful draft of his cigarette, his free hand holding you by the waist and the other lifting your chin up. You let your eyes flutter close, lips parted just enough, feeling his just barely touch yours, and the quiet exhale of smoke filled your lungs. It tasted of coffee and something else sweet and addicting. You wanted more of that taste, leaning forward to kiss his lips, arms moving to hook around his neck and keep him close to you.
He grinned, letting out a purr of satisfaction. "Good kitty~"

Southern Caffeine
Jay Halstead x Baker!Cordelia Micheals (OC) Warnings: None i think
Her Chocolate brown curly hair was haphazardly thrown into a bun, and a yellow ribbon wrapped around the tie. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt beneath a pale yellow apron and chocolate brown pants. Her apron was covered in white dashes of flour and smudges of frosting and chocolate. The pin on her apron read Cordelia, a sticker of a small bundle of lemons decorating the rest of the pin. When Jay’s eyes reached her face, he took note of the imperfect splash of flour that dusted her cheeks and the bright smile that graced her features.
“Good Morning. What can I get ya?” Her voice was perfectly airy and sweet, like the melody of his favourite song. For once, the voice wasn't dull or uninterested; instead, it sounded like she genuinely wanted to be covered in flour dust and chocolate smudges at nearly 6:30 in the morning.
“Four large double shot coffees and Hailey Uptons usual.” He recited the order that Hailey had given him only ten minutes earlier. Jay moved to open his wallet to pay when Cordelia simply shook her head.
“No need to pay, it's on the house.” Her smile was blinding as she moved further down to the coffee machine, Jay following.
Plus, I make enough profit to cover it anyway.” As she pushed the box and cup tray towards Jay, she gestured to the jar on the counter next to the register, “But if your conscience won't let you leave without leaving a tip, then here, donate to this month's charity, the Chicago police fund” Jay practically swooned over her smile this time. pushing a few large bills into the jar, Jay left the cafe with a dopey smile and a mental promise never to get coffee anywhere else.
