Not often you come across a trail that has singular history behind it. The Great Fire of 1910 destroyed many pristine areas of parkland across Northwest and Wallace, ID was not spared. So widespread was the devastation that fire prevention and protection became the #1 priority of National Forest Service. For more info, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Pulaski_Tunnel_and_Placer_Creek_Escape_Route?wprov=sfla1. The actual hike distance isn't much (4mi round-trip) but with sharp inclines, good footwear is essential. The stream gently running along the trail is refreshingly cool. #wallace #pnw #coeurdalene #coeurdalenenationalforest (at Pulaski Trail) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3AuLODnAIoYRV6-IhImZtI4o9ETbbqpXhmTp00/?igshid=1nd3a0amdf8ln

There is just something so perfect about driving around in the mountains listening to #trampledbyturtles I even saw a turtle on this drive, which is pretty rare around here. The mountains, rivers, and creeks were beautiful and the sunset and lightening storm on the way down the mountain were phenomenal! Fantastic evening in the #coeurdalenenationalforest @tbtduluth #mountaindrive #idaho #northforkcoeurdaleneriver

. Today's feature: @mdribben . Today's location: Developed in 1923 as a camp lookout, a 50' pole tower with 7x7' cab was built at Spades Mountain Lookout in 1926. A log cabin was added for living quarters in 1928. In 1941, a 54' steel tower was built. An L-4 cab was added for living quarters in the late 1940's. The steel tower was moved to Long Mountain Lookout in 1963, replaced by the present 67' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab, which has not been staffed since the 1970's. It has been heavily vandalized. . I had such an excellent time today with @kayciemiller we followed this beautiful rover for a lot of miles today. So much incredible scenery and fun experiences, but in the end the river took my wallet. I hope someone enjoys the $150 when it finally gets picked up. LOL :) #coeurdaleneriver #idaho #iloveidaho #idahome #coeurdalenenationalforest (at Prichard, Idaho)
