have jimmy on the brain so here's some doobles of an au that i've had in my brain for a hot minute :]

STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS PLOT ABOUT THE AU

FEEL FREE TO STEAL THIS I'M NOT PLANNING ANYTHING WITH IT :D (and please keep in mind that i haven't seen everyones pov so some stuff is not cannon accurate lol) this is set in empire season 2 (around the time the rift open so we can have ranchers), with the empires 1 characters being a sort of greek pantheon(?) that pix is studying. Anyway- the codfather is supposed to be a god of the forsaken, forgotten ,and the damned who is either reincarnated as jim or is giving his power to jim cause he's deemed worthy of it. never quite worked out that part. so jim starts getting codfather features and is like 'o shit fish powers'. tumble town also starts turning into an oasis. he goes to the great witch shelby cause he thinks someone cursed him but she's like 'hm, no you somehow got ancient power somehow? let's go to pix and see if he knows anything about it.' then they go to pix who's all 'HOLY MOLY YOU GOT CODFATHER POWERS THAT EXPLAINS THE FLOODING-' turns out that other kingdoms (particularly anyone who makes fun of jim *cough cough* joel) are flooding really badly and nobody knew why. pix and shelby start working with jim to control his new abilities. they all agree to keep it on the down low but jim tells tango cause ranchers :] the whole thing comes to a head when joel finds out it's jim who's been (unintentionally) destroying his kingdom with floods and storms. he yells at jim about it and in turn jim goes absolutely ape shit- turns into a kaiju or smth and erases the very memory of joel from existence (or something like that) eventually they're able to calm him down steven universe future style. jim puts the memory of joel gets put back into existence and the two learn the importance of communication. yippee! happy ending for all!!

Everyone stared at the scars on Count Fwhip’s body, the many scars across his chest and back now fully exposed by the way his shirt and jacket had become tattered in the explosion. He knelt near the center of the explosion site, still having attempted to defuse the device in order to allow others to escape.

Fwhip’s arms came up to try to block the view of his chest, but between his chest and back both being on display, there was nothing he could do to hide his body completely from sight.

He heard the sound of footsteps approaching him and he curled up even tighter, trying to hide from whoever was approaching.

He heard no words following the footsteps stopping in front of him, though he could tell that the figure had crouched down and was doing something.

Fwhip felt cloth fall over his shoulders, covering his body from the gaze of onlookers.

When he glanced up, he was shocked to find Jimmy crouched in front of him. Upon further inspection, the Codfather had given Fwhip his cloak. That was not something to be done lightly. Not in Oceanic cultures. Especially not when done by the ruler of the Codlands.

A Selkie’s coat was their life. To give his to Fwhip, to hide the scars that were so clearly on display, that meant something. Fwhip didn’t know exactly what, but it was something.

Fwhip finally let himself cry, feeling the exposure, the vulnerability of his lack of clothing so keenly now that he was safe from view. Jimmy hid even that from onlookers, pulling Fwhip close and letting the other man hide his tears against Jimmy’s chest or neck.

“I’ve got you. You’re safe.”

Fwhip, against all odds, believed him.

basically, the idea of it is that while lizzie went on land as in canon and forgot, when jimmy followed her he just. didnt forget. somehow. the curse thing just passed right on over him.

so basically hes just an immortal fish god woo! he spends most of his time up until esmp s1 disguised as a human, or another regular hybrid, and then in empires he still realises that lizzies his sister and he just never recognised her (not blue skin + a name she didnt have last time they saw each other + a long ass time does not usually equal recognition lawl)

post rapture he sticks with joel, and helps him achieve immortality and godhood, where he'll eventually become god joel of stratos.

the toy joke/relentless teasing is like. the sibling dynamic where you can bully and tease each other relentlessly but at the end of the day, if its a serious moment then they have each others backs. they've stuck together for a thousand years after all!

i have SO much to say about joel in this au but i'll probably save that for another post or maybe a reblog

I’ve seen a lot of really creative one’s out there. We as a fandom have had to be creative because all the man gave us to work with was this.

Bro literally just made his clothes green, slapped some slime on, and called it a day. I mean, we have his custom armor, but c’mon man- 😭😭

I’ll show you guys my design for him some other time, but here are some headcanons for Jimmy, Lizzie, and just merfolk in general.

Jimmy has long hair that falls around his shoulders. Merfolk usually keep their hair very long. Lizzie’s hair is super long and goes down to her knees. Merfolk are also one of the tallest species in Empires. Female merfolk are typically taller than males. Merfolk royalty are taller than the others. Most merfolk are 7-8 feet, while the royal family is 8-10. Jimmy is short for his species.

Like Lizzie, Jimmy does actually look like a fish. He has brown scales like a cod, fins, gills, a tail, webbed hands, sharp teeth, and claws. Merfolk all look like specific kinds of fish or sea creatures.

There are many small sea creatures that have latched on to Lizzie such as barnacles, coral, and starfish. When she goes on land, they don’t dry out because of the moisture on her scales and Ocean Queen stuff ig. Merfolk can’t leave the water for too long. They can spend a decent amount of time (8 hours) on land before they begin to dry out.

Lizzie and Jimmy’s mother was the former Goddess and Queen of the Ocean. She passed away shortly after laying her two eggs. Lizzie and Jimmy were her only children. After she died, she passed on her role as goddess to Lizzie. Any extra magic was given to Jimmy, and he became a god of sorts as well, just a lesser one/demigod. The seablings mother was the first and only Ocean Goddess/Queen for many years. When she passed, the merfolk were left without a ruler for a while. Lizzie didn’t go rule them because she was deep under the ocean waiting for Jimmy to hatch. She waited for thousands of years. The merfolk didn’t have a ruler for a long, long time, and had instead appointed many acting rulers while they waited for their Queen. During the events of Empires, when Lizzie became the Ocean Queen, the merfolk hadn’t seen their original ruler for centuries, so they assumed that Lizzie was the original goddess and had come back. They didn’t know that she was her daughter.

This is probably a mess and definitely has quite a few plot holes lmao

Designs for just MCYT characters in general are so cool. Like, all we have to work with are pixels and people are so freaking creative with their designs.
