Wynorrific Future
Alexverse Hellspawns are fan made hellspawns created by me. They dwell within Makai with the 44 official Never Nemu Nacht hellspawns owned by @superchaomusou, and are part of a hellspawn AU project created by me by the name of Wynorrific Future.
Wynorrific Future is an AU hellspawn series created by me on August 7th, 2024. This project is dedicated to the original hellspawn series Wynorrific Facades, owned by Chao. It takes place in Makai multiple years later, with a greater population of hellspawns and more places have been discovered. The name is a futuristic spoof of the original hellspawn series's title (Wynorrific Facades) as it takes place in the future, multiple years after the year the original series takes in.

The Haves and Hazmats
Hey there, Janeane Garofalo's expedition to Mt Everest. We're nearly done! It's our penultimate episode of Avengers Arena! We'll be done before August! Won't that be a nice feeling? Let's get "No Arcade August" trending or whatever the kids say nowadays.
Anyway, here's the cover:
This... is actually a pretty all right cover. One of the better ones in the whole series. Visually striking, nice colours, actually symbolic... Yeah, I'm gonna chalk this up to "pretty good"! Dunno if there's much else to say about it otherwise, though. Weird that whoever made these cutouts bothered to get as detailed as Nico's fishnets, but then rendered everyone faceless. You could argue they didn't want to cover it with the orange targets, but, they cover the ones on the chest regardless. Speaking of the chest, the target on Anachronism? Is his weakness his pancreas? Because that's sure not lining up over his heart~
We open with everything having gone to shit from last time. And much like that other issue, this is an unnecessarily gory opening with no warning. Not as bloody as before, but X-23 is covered in radiation burns from Hazmat's suit leakage. It's not pretty. Anachronism pops in and starts hacking into X-23, shouting how Nara is dead because of her. And then Reptil pops in as a Triceratops, bucking Anachronism away from her. And despite her leaking energy and wounds, she manages to be the voice of reason, telling them to stop fighting because that's just what Arcade wants.
And speaking of King Douche of Child Murder Island, we cut over to where the others are in his base. Despite having just been clocked by Darkhawk last issue, he's still being smug and smirky. Darkhawk is annoyed with this as we are, prompting Arcade to turn off his simulation, but then he begins barfing up a huge amount of water. Deathlocket points her cannon at him, and he amicably sits down and begins keying in a code. But of course it's not the "turn off the game" code, it's the "teleport somewhere else" code. Well, at least he's no longer here.
Meanwhile, Nico is still skimming Cullen Bloodstone across the water. The deal with him is that while he's wearing the ring, he's pretty tough to kill. Without it, he's vulnerable but also a giant unstoppable monster. Nico just shrugs and resumes the drowning attempt. Cammi, another voice of reason, yells at Chase to go out and stop this, and Chase is all "Time is up, this is what needs to happen." Chase is kind of a dumbass, and he crushes Cammi's gun to keep her from interfering. She doesn't need her gun, though, she'll just take his. And she does a martial arts move to flip him, then uses a knife to pry the Darkhawk gem out of his chest.
So while the newly formed Cammihawk is flying off, we cut back to Arcade's lab. Well, with Arcade gone, Apex occupies his chair and begins trying to hack the systems herself. Deathlocket asks the pertinent question: how can they trust Apex to be doing the right thing. Her response is that she wants to escape as much as anyone else, that she's a pragmatist, not a serial killer. I guess that's fair, but I still don't like her, and consider her villain #2 of this whole endeavour. In fact, let's ask Juston what he thinks about Apex's pragmatism~
While Locket goes off to find Darkhawk a drink to wash out all the barfing up he did--seriously, it must've been at least a gallon of fluid--Apex continues her hacking. Which, apparently she needs to do actual typing instead of just getting it done like a technopath would? But while she's in the middle, Arcade calls up and begins feeding her lines. Like, she may be a pragmatic survivor, but how will the rest of the world see her? He hasn't released any footage yet, there's still time to doctor it in her favour--if she wins...
Back on the beach, Nico's done trying to drown Cullen and is just preparing a finishing blow when Cammi tackles her. Cammi tells her she has to be better than this. Because she makes her want to be better. She, who lived in space and was raised by Drax the Destroyer, wants to be better. She doesn't want Nico to be a killer, and Nico tearfully responds it's already too late: she buried Locket and Apex under a ton of rubble, and we haven't heard from them since. And of course, that's when Nico notices Cammi's using the Darkhawk amulet, which she could only have taken from Chase.
There's a brief cut back to the base, showing Apex has taken control of Locket again, shooting Darkhawk with Locket's cannon, gloating evilly about everyone belonging under her thumb while slouching in Arcade's chair. But she's not a monster, you guys, she's just being pragmatic! And the comic ends with the various fights continuing, when Hazmat stumbles out of the woods. She doesn't feel so good, Mister Stark. She collapses to her knees, saying something feels wrong. And then a huge burst of green energy expands out from around her, to trick you into thinking she's blowing up.
One. Issue. Left. I can think of no more fitting critique than that. Like, I could go on complaining about how everything’s gone to shit, and how Apex is back on her bullshit, and the usual such. But we’ve got one issue to go. And that means more to me than anything else that happens in this comic. Next week, we finish this~

the plum tree blossoms even in winter / kate bishop x reader

commissioned by @domromanoff

↪ words: 7042

Red.
The number on your screen bleeds the same color as your scraped knuckles, same as the sweater your mom bought you two years ago that’s nearly threadbare now. Fucking red. You read this book once about how red is meant to symbolize wealth and sex – now all it means is that you’re royally fucked. You could probably handle a regular fucking (you’d been doing that for a long time), but the royal part of it is signaling your demise. It’s not like you thought you’d end up here, you tried everything possible not to.
But no. Of course this is how it works out, a measly hundred dollars short of an amount of money previously thought insurmountable. Mount Everest had nothing on how much you needed to get. It’d be easier to petition the IMF to clear your debt as this point.
Fuck it. You’re not going to make her find you, not going to let her jump you in some shitty bar two blocks from home. If this is your last act, might as well take command of the narrative. Phone in hand, arms wrapped around your body to trap what little heat is generated from the sweater, you make your way downtown.
The way to the club is familiar – the way one is able to find their childhood home even when if it been burned to the ground and they’ve been dropped across the country. It was sunset when you got your bank statement, it’s nearly pitch black when you knock on the unmarked door, your hand carefully avoiding the thick globs of grime. It takes a few seconds, but eventually, a woman wearing all black with an earpiece opens the door.
Valkyrie seems surprised to see you, her eyes widening just a little before she paints the bored, detached expression she was always sporting back onto her features. “What’s the password?”
Even in your distressed state, you have to roll your eyes. “Val, we both know the code is randomly generated every morning, and we both know I don’t know what it is.”
She shrugs. “You know the rules. Either give the password or get the fuck out.”
All you can do is sigh, and fight the urge to muscle past her. “Look, Val. I just really need to see Kate.”
The use of the boss’s first name has her stunned, even if she doesn’t show it. No one calls her Kate – not even her. She shuts the door in front of you, and despite the thick metal, you can hear her speaking into the intercom system. A pause – presumably Kate or one of the guards assigned to her inner circle replying – then another few muffled sentences. Another pause. Then the door opens once more.
Val looks…shocked. That’s the only way to put it. She looks shocked. It’s hard to surprise Valkyrie, she didn’t get her nickname because she spooked easy. Once you saw her roundhouse kick someone’s teeth in because they looked at her funny. It’s a sign she knows why you’re there, why you’re back for the first time in years. “She’s expecting you. You know where to go.”
You give her a curt nod, pushing past her only to be immediately enveloped into the pulsing beat of some shitty remix of a pop song that was perfectly fine before being put in a blender. It probably all sounded the same when one was coked out, though. Rich people, not the super-rich, but still pretty rich, dance and grind to words you can’t decipher. Lights flash different colors interspersed with black on their own beat. It was enough to make you nauseous if you hadn’t spent at least two years watching the sweaty bodies do the same thing every night of the week.
The good thing about drunk people is that they’re easily moved, too preoccupied with finding someone to grind on. You would probably stand out in anywhere else with your giant sweater and leggings and worn sneakers, but no one here saw anything but tits and ass and bulge. If you had none of them, they let you pass with ease. As you make your way to the second floor, a few servers and dancers up in cages look at you with the same surprise that Val did before (though much less concealed).
Yeah, you want to tell them. I didn’t think I’d be back either.
Kate’s office is tucked away in the back, artfully concealed. Anyone who didn’t know better merely saw a giant mirror reflecting the debauchery most were preoccupied with. You, though, knew that behind the central panel was the woman who ran the city when no one was looking.
Natasha’s the one parked in front of the door tonight. All she does is raise an eyebrow before letting you in (Val definitely told her, and everyone else, that you were back) to walk down a short hallway before reaching the actual entrance into the office. Kate was just as dramatic as she was paranoid. A simple code you knew like you knew your first phone number is punched into the keypad with shaky fingers – the vibrations either because of the beat that feels faint compared to what it was down in the heart of the club, or the lack of food, or the fear. Truly it could be all three, but you didn’t really have time before you’re entering a place you thought you’d never see again.
Just inside both the left and right are two women, deceptively skinny and dressed in all black. To the left, in a dog bed that you remember buying, is a one-eyed golden retriever who stands up as soon as you see him.
The dog – Lucky, you remember, because how could you forget – is deceivingly cute. Kate found him when he was a puppy with an eye infection that led to him now only having one of them, and he's never left her side since. She tells the story often, choosing to leave out that she found him after shooting a man in his home in front of his wife (he had groped one of her dancers; Kate was very possessive and didn’t like others touching what she had already branded as hers).
He remembers you, though. Even though it’s been years, and you’ve changed everything about your appearance possible without paying for surgery. He nuzzles into your hand, asking for scratches behind the ear. The guards say nothing, and for a moment – just a few, fleeting moments – it’s as if you’re back right where you started. Back in the living room-sized office with ceiling-high bookshelves filled with expensive books and knick-knacks. The two-way mirror you saw previously is located behind where Kate sits, in front of the desk being two chairs. You sit in neither, choosing to thread your fingers through Lucky’s long, silky fur, leeching off of his body warmth and holding him close. For a moment, it’s calm, it’s nice, and you can forget about the world around you.
You can forget, that is, until a voice you’d hoped you’d never hear again interrupts your quiet time “alone” with a dog you’d helped name.
“You know, I was hoping you’d be back.”
Your heart drops into your feet at the sound of her voice, deeper than you remember, but still all too familiar. Despite all the practicing you’d done in the mirror before you came over, you can’t find it in yourself to dig out some quip or sarcastic response. All you can do is hunch your shoulders ever so slightly and turn around to face her. “Kate.”
It’s all you can say.
“That’s all you can say?” she says with a small scoff. “Three years and all you can say is ‘Kate?’” She steps towards you, hands in the pockets of the deep purple pantsuit she owns multiples of. “Thought you’d have a little more rolling around in that pretty little head of yours.”
You did, is the worst part. You do have essays worth of things you want to say to her – to her stupid bodyguards who have definitely seen you naked, whether because Kate liked to fuck you wherever she pleased or because she had a picture of your tits in her wallet and an even larger one of her ass in her home office. The brand – the one she designed herself – is visible on your left cheek in as high a quality as one can buy.
But you stay quiet. Because you’re in the red, and when one’s drowning in red, one isn’t allowed to speak.
You watch as Kate takes her place at her massive desk. It’s black, got at least five different secret compartments, and is about the size of a twin bed. She had it custom made a few months before you met her, it finally being delivered the day of your third date. You had christened it by sitting on her face; similar to what had happened when the equally black chair was delivered the next day (when she had made you squirt for the first time).
Memories flash before your eyes. Just the good ones, though. The bad ones – you’re certain – will come later.
She doesn’t speak until she’s fully seated, legs crossed, and chair leaned back. “Now, sweetheart, why are you here?”
Kate knows, she’s just a fucking dick. At one point you liked that about her. Now, though, you’d rather chew glass (a thing you’ve watched Kate make someone do). “I don’t-“ you struggle to get the words out. Kate just watches, eyebrows raised and head leaned forward to indicate she’s listening. “I don’t have the money to pay you back.”
One of her guards (Carol, you’re guessing, even though her shoulder-length locks are now trimmed to her ears with a high undercut) lets out a snort. Maria, the one who hasn’t changed a bit since you last saw her, barely suppresses a sinister smile.
Kate merely blinks. “Sorry, what was that?”
God if you could kill her. “I don’t have the money to pay you back, I don’t have the money to pay anyone back.”
The woman in front of you just scoffs, moving to stand before stepping in front of her desk to lean on it. She doesn’t cross her arms over her chest, doesn’t make a move to comfort you. Just stands there, in her giant black boots and her custom suit and her shiny black hair. It takes a minute for her to speak, every second of silence more painful than the last.
“I’m having a little trouble remembering, actually…” she pretends to think. “What were the terms of our agreement again?”
You gulp, fighting back tears already. “I had three years to pay you thirty thousand dollars.”
She cocks her head. “And what were you paying thirty thousand dollars for?”
A few one break free, streaking down your face. “My freedom.”
“And how much do I normally require for freedom?”
Even more tears fall down your face, you wipe them from your jaw and chin before speaking. “Three hundred thousand.”
Kate steps closer to you, each clause punctuated by her boot hitting the floor. “So let me get this straight.”
Step.
“I offer your freedom at a ninety percent discount.”
Step.
“I give you two more years than usual to pay it back.”
Step.
“I let you loose, giving you all the chances in the world to earn that money.”
Step. She now stands in front of you, her presence deeply imposing.
“And you still can’t pay it back?”
You feel like an elementary-aged child being chastised by a teacher with nothing to lose. All you can do – just like the time you spilled milk on your school uniform on picture day – is stare at the ground and avoid eye contact and wait for it to be over. No begging, no pleading, just you and the knowledge you’re a total failure.
Kate uses a single crooked finger to force your chin up until your gaze meets hers. “C’mon baby, I’m a woman of many talents but I’m not a mind reader.”
You exhale a shaky breath. “And I still cannot pay you back.”
“There we go,” she says with enough cheer that it makes goosebumps crawl up your spines. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
Yes it was. You know that too. But once again, you’re silent.
“Well, in that case, I guess you don’t get your freedom, do you, sweetheart?” Kate says with a smirk.
It’s hard to suppress the hiccups that are trying their hardest to force you to their knees. You shake your head weakly, unable to do much besides that.
Kate walks back to her desk, and even though you don’t watch her, you know from the sound it’s the compartment under the third drawer to the right. It’s for the most precious things, like the golden gun Kate bought for show or the passports of her three least used aliases.
Immediately, your eyes screw shut. You’re not sure it’s happening until you’re shrouded in darkness, waiting for the heavy feeling against your neck.
The think, purple collar is clicked on as easily as the time it fell from its place, the nameplate, bell, and tracking keychain jingling together like a fucked-up wind chime. It’s a sound you’re so familiar with your pussy immediately begins to pulse in a way you haven’t felt since you left. There are a lot of things you can say about Kate; you can’t say she was a bad lay. You also can’t say she’s not incredibly possessive, or that she loves change. The way she tugs at it, your sunken skin leaving more room than usual, says she’s just as upset as you predicted. It’s hard to tell whether it’s anger or sadness or merely her upset someone tried to defy her. She’s not one to take a dethroning lightly; hubris is just as punishable here as it was in ancient Greece or Rome.
It's scary (though even that word doesn’t truly encapsulate the dread that floods your system), how familiar it is to you. How your body immediately looks to the floor to make sure it’s clean enough to crawl on, to see if you’re the bed Kate has custom made for you is in the right spot. It’s empty, and you kick yourself when disappointment settles in your gut.
“Oh,” Kate realizes, turning to Carol and gesturing out of the room. “Danvers, go get the bed. It should be in storage – you know the place.”
Carol just gives a curt nod, moving in a direct, militant fashion that would have bodybuilders jumping out of her path. The thing is, you like Carol. When Kate would play with you in meetings, the guard would tease you just as Kate would.
Your owner has her biggest dildo stuffed inside of your aching pussy. You’re clothed in only a cropped sweater, the cold air of the office sending goosebumps up your skin. You were told not to move, but you know you’re also dripping down the cock and onto the woman below you. Kate is directing her security team to a possible threat that was reported by one of her informants at the NYPD, making sure her club’s patrons wouldn’t be blown to bits while..well, on blow.
But you’re sensitive from a whole day of edging, clit swollen and hot to the touch. It’s like your brain has turned to mush, put through a food processor until all that was left was a nearly-opaque juice. Any sort of self-control had been washed away by it leaking out of your ears, so between Natasha’s direct, complicated orders are your light, desperate whimpers.
Natasha’s talking to someone across the table from Carol when she leans closer to you, a wicked smile painted on her face. “You’re such a pathetic little puppy, aren’t you?”
Your owner holds you close, her arm wrapped around your waist making it so you can’t get far. But still, you can whine a little higher in your throat, push just a little farther – seeking out the woman’s warm body and embrace. All you can is nod, thread your eyebrows together, and open your eyes as wide as you can in an attempt to buy a crumb of sympathy. Carol doesn’t give it, but she does trail her hand over your quivering thighs, ghosting them over your leaking cunt.
“You’re cute,” she huffs a small, low laugh. “Maybe one day your big ole’ Daddy can let me fuck that little pussy of yours.”
You let out a deep moan that has Kate shoving three fingers into your mouth to muffle the sound, your lips instinctually wrapping around them to take them deeper down your throat.
You snap out of your vivid memory as Carol returns, dropping the bed in the spot next to Lucky’s. It’s hard not to feel relief when you see she doesn’t have bowls in her hands – one of Kate’s harsh punishments you remember all too well. In your state, you can barely stand. If you tried to get on all four and eat out of a large dog bowl, you’re sure your body would collapse in on itself.
Kate eyes the bed to make sure it’s in the correct place before turning to you. “Just as it’s supposed to be,” she says with a smile – one that’s so genuine it makes you ache. She likes this, and you hurt her when you left. Probably sent her into a tailspin when you parted ways three years ago; a violent rage that likely destroyed at least one priceless artifact and created a mess so large more than one of the maids from her mansion had to be transported in. That’s one of the parts that is most fucked up about it to you. It’s not just that she owned you, that she kept you as a pet and away from the outside world; it’s that she loved you. It’s that she cared about you; it’s that she didn’t just keep you like some common housecat, it’s that you were like a prized pedigree show animal with the papers to prove it. You sometimes half-expected her to put some ridiculous fancy name on your collar instead of your own in homage to the actual organizations you’d come to loathe.
You were an investment, a show-thing. Surely the girls on poles and making drinks at the lower level of the bar were the same, sure. But it’s as if you held some golden ticket for her that you never lived up to, never actually provided. A shorted stock. A worthless family heirloom said to have been passed down. A disappointment.
All you can do is stand there, in the center of the room, between two black velvet chairs, under the eyes of the three people there and anyone else unfortunate enough to walk in. The collar can’t be seen from behind, barely from the side…but under Kate Bishop’s gaze, you might as well have her name tattooed across your tits.
It's a few moments of bliss in Kate’s eyes before she speaks again.
“You cold, sweetheart?” she looks at your worn clothes, notices the shiver that occasionally shocks through your system (those aren’t from the chilly air she keeps pumped into the room, but she’d never let you say that out loud).
All you can do is nod, body shaking like a leaf in a hurricane now. God you know Kate is enjoying this. “Y-yes.”
Kate tuts, rolling her eyes. “Wonder how long it took you to realize how little you can take care of yourself without my help. Can’t even imagine what it was like for you in the dead of winter.”
You stare at the ground, following her footsteps from sound alone as she hunts through one of the drawers located at the bottom of the bookshelf to your left. It’s hard to suppress the memories of the New York winter, spent either in shelters or hookup’s places or in crowded apartments the few times you could afford rent. When Kate returns, she holds a large sweatshirt you know is hers, fuzzy socks, and new, more comfortable leggings. She remembers you’re not a fan of sweatpants. Even as your heart thumps in your chest, choose not to mention that as you mumble out a “thank you.”
Easily as riding a bike, you conform to rules you know Kate hasn’t relaxed since you left. You strip, ignoring the heavy gazes of all three women. There’s no underwear (something you expected), but it feels like the clothes were fluffed in a dryer before your arrival. It’s hard to think about what you don’t have when you’re warm and comfortable for the first time in weeks.
When you stand back up straight you regain eye contact with Kate, who gives a single nod of approval. “Go lay down, puppy. You’ve had a very exhausting night.”
With all that you’ve been through, you’re happy to finally lay down and try and get some sleep. You go to walk behind Kate’s desk and see Lucky on the other side of the desk, within eyeshot of anyone who walks in. As you curl up, it hits you like a ton of bricks:
You’re both pets. Lucky can leave when he wants, though. You can’t.
Lucky bastard.
The fucked up part is that this is the most comfortable place you’ve slept in three years. The bed is heated and plush, filled with extra stuffing. There’s a blanket attached to it, in case you get even colder. It’s comfortable, in a way that makes you feel gross.
But…it’s hard to deny how nice it is to not have to worry anymore. Kate does a lot for you and despite the price, it’s nice to think about whether you’re going to eat tonight, or whether where you sleep will be warm, or if your clothes will be cut up by stupid roommates you don’t trust. In any other situation, you’re sure the thought would be freeing, but here it feels like another collar layered over the one you already have.
“Wait, not yet,” she suddenly says, reaching into a desk drawer to pull out a single-use water bottle that’s…bigger than what you’re used to seeing. She twists the cap off before leaning down and holding it out to you. “Drink this. I can’t have you passing out on dehydration under my watch.”
It's then that you realize that you hadn’t really eaten or had anything to drink (let alone water and not poorly made cocktails left by customers at shitty bars) in days. You’re close enough to don’t even have to crawl, just sit up and angle your head to make sure not a drop falls down your chin.
It doesn’t take long for you to empty it – even if it it tastes stale in a way you can’t perfectly describe, the water has definitely been in the plastic for awhile – Kate tossing the bottle into a trash can before cooing at you. “Such a good girl,” she says, cradling your chin and rubbing her thumb over your cheek. “Go lay down, you need your rest now.”
You think about fighting with her for a second, but why would you? You’re exhausted, your body aches, the bed signs to you like a siren.
So you do all you can do: sleep. Try and rest before it all gets too much again. Wordlessly, you curl up under the attached blanket and let the world go dark.
You wake up about an hour later to the sound of Kate angrily flipping through a stack of papers as she mutters something about a faulty contract still being a contract nonetheless, and the feeling of having to pee.
It's intense, too. Sometimes you can ignore the signals your body flashes across your body, but with the sudden comforts of your situation it seems as if your tolerance has plummeted.
Kate’s frustration never lets up, never leaving you a perfect second to interject. Eventually you holding your legs together isn’t stopping it anymore, and you have to interrupt her. “C-can I use the b-bathroom, please?”
The women who guard the door keep their arms at their sides, both of them raising a single eyebrow at the same time. They don’t need to say it, you know there’s no way you’re getting out of here.
“Aw, need to go to the bathroom, sweetheart?” Kate mock-asks, jutting her bottom lip out in a similar fake pout. She doesn’t look up, though, doesn’t waste her time moving her eyes from the cash in front of her. When you don’t reply immediately, she finally looks down at you.
You remember her rules about speaking when spoken to, forcing a response from deep in her chest. “Y-yes. I have to pee.”
Kate still doesn’t look at you, but huffs out a laugh. “Well, darling, normally I’d let Maria escort you to the bathroom-“ You knew Kate had a private bathroom only accessible by tipping a thick anthology of W.H. Auden poetry that needed no escort. “But given your betrayal, I’m not sure you’ve earned that right yet.”
Fuck. You’re not even sure you’re able to beg. Everything inside of you is going towards not ruining the nice bed. “P-please, I have to g-go.”
Kate just stares at you with a blank stare, papers still in her hand in the same position they were in when you interrupted you. “Either you go here, or you hold it until we go home.”
The prospect of going back to Kate’s mansion almost makes you nauseous, but when you look at the clock, you notice it’s passed right after midnight. Kate normally doesn’t leave until two.
You swallow what little spite is in your mouth, looking down at the floor. Well…you think to yourself. This is just going to happen, isn’t it?
Thankfully, you’re allowed to stare at the floor as you let yourself…go. Slowly but surely the hot wetness of your piss falls down your clothes legs, soon pooling at your knees. It doesn’t touch your socks, by some miracle.
But when Kate tuts and hooks a finger under your chin to bring your eyes to hers, you know it’s even worse than you thought it would be. All you get is a “poor baby,” before she’s beckoning Maria over. The dark-haired woman clips you on your back away from the spill with an efficiency you’ve only seen when she’s being used as Natasha’s enforcer, stripping you of your dripping leggings while leaving the thick socks. She wipes you down with a towel seemingly pulled from thin air, the abrasive material making you wince when it’s swiped over your center.
But she doesn’t let up, not until you and the floor are equally dry. You’re a dog at a show, stuck frozen on all fours waiting for a release word. Maria is equally silent, even if her gaze is heavy and bores into you. She’s done this before – she’s seen you in much more compromising positions – and yet this feels…worse, somehow. You hang your head in shame even as she pulls away.
“Good to know you can still follow direction,” is all Kate says to you before returning to her work. Cowering in shame, you go back to the bed where you were before, now missing pants and a little bit of pride. Once again, though, there’s nothing you can do besides sleep or stay away and stare at the floor. You try the second option for a long time, watching Kate’s boots against the ground and listening to her do whatever it is she does. The flipping of paper, the signing of documents, the telling one of her guards to get her something to eat or drink. Occasionally someone will come in and talk to her with voices you don’t recognize. One of the meetings is about the type of gin they’re buying for the bar, the other is whether they should burn bodies or cut them up and scatter them across the state. It's after that last one that you try to go to sleep again.
The sound of Natasha’s voice is what wakes you up again.
“Bishop,” she doesn’t acknowledge anyone else in the room except her boss. “It’s time to go.”
Kate stops whatever it is she’s doing, looking to the leader of her security team. “I will be down in thirty. Please have my car waiting for me when we come down.”
The “we” makes your heart skip a beat.
As Natasha leaves, Kate turns to the guards posted inside her office. “Stand outside,” she commands.
The two guards do as they’re told without question, remaining on their respective sides now on the other side of the entrance. As soon the heavy, metal door shuts, Kate is hooking her hands up under your collar once just as she did earlier that day and slamming you onto the desk so that your ass grazes against the seam of Kate’s pants. You barely fight back a moan, careening against the hard cock you can feel straining against the fabric. You’re not sure when she started packing that day, but you can’t help but feel thankful as you imagine it inside you.
With one hand on the back of your neck, Kate pushes your top above your midsection to grab at your butt. “Still such a good ass,” she murmurs. “Almost makes up for everything you did.”
You’re wet – you know you are, and Kate knows you know you are, too – but she still slowly inserts a single finger. She pulls it out and holds it against the low light, smirking.
“Such a fucking whore…I guess some things never change, do they?”
You don’t respond, can’t respond, because just then Kate is re-entering your dripping pussy with three fingers. Your resistance turns to naught as she begins to fuck in and out of you, pinning you down so that all you can do is take it.
“F-fuck,” your moans are broken by each thrust, the sounds of her fucking into your dripping pussy filling the room. You’re grateful you’re alone with you, just the thought of Carol and Maria watching and degrading you with Kate sends you so far into your own subspace that you’re surprised your knees haven’t given out.
Kate speaks when the word more just barely begins to form itself on your lips.
“You abandoned me,” she seethes, forcing a fourth finger inside of you. “I treated you better than anyone else ever has and you fucking abandoned me.”
Her teeth are grit, anger palpable in the air. You can taste it – the metallic – every time you gasp out a moan, your hands crawling at the desk to see if the hard wood would break way to something you could cling to. It doesn’t happen, though, you’re not strong enough to break through reinforced wood. Shame.
“You don’t even have something to say for yourself?” The thrusts of Kate’s hands increase in their fervor, a pace that makes you certain you’ll be aching for the next few days. She’s never been one to pull punches, and that instinct doesn’t go away when the matter concerns you. “Fucking whore, you wouldn’t know loyalty if it slapped you in the face.”
She stops, suddenly, a groan escaping your throat as you find yourself struggling to accommodate her. You almost don’t notice her other hand snaking around your body to grab at your throat. It doesn’t take much for her to use it as leverage to pull you flush against her body. All you can do is scream when she slaps at your tits, leaving angry marks that will be equally as tender as your cunt.
Kate laughs with every wince. “See?” When you don’t respond, she withdraws her hand from your pussy and uses it to grab at your chin, pulling even closer so she can slot her face in the crook of your neck. With one hand pinching at your nipples, the other keeps you in place. You can smell yourself, your chin wet with yourself. “Answer me, you fucking slut. You’re mine, and you’ll do as you’re fucking told.”
You struggle to find the words, your body still as your mind rattles around in your skull. In the end, you say all you’ve wanted to say since you left. “I’m sorry.”
Kate stops for a moment, just a moment – and then growls. “For what?” She slams you back down onto the best, the two lamps on either side rattling with the force. The slips back inside you, four fingers, and you welcome it. “Tell me what you’re apologizing for!”
You struggle against the lack of oxygen and the rock in your throat and the truth that threatens to break free.
Kate just bares her teeth, a snarl low in her throat. “Fucking say it.”
If a dam were to break right now, flooding the city, it would be overtaken by the outpour of cries and apologies that flow from your lips. “F-for leaving you! I’m sorry for leaving you, for asking to be alone, for abandoning you so soon!”
Kate’s lips curl into a smile, and she sinks her teeth into the side of your neck. You’re hoping she won’t draw blood – but even if there are no deep wounds you know what she’s doing. She doesn’t want to leave you in pain, she wants to claim you. The bruise is high enough that you can’t cover it with a shirt or even a hoodie; regardless of your hiding capabilities it will ache and pulse under the protection of what you wear. As she makes smaller ones, too, you’re sure it will hurt when you turn your head and you’re sure Kate will push aside whatever hides it to that she knows…even if she isn’t directly looking at, she knows you know that you’re hers.
Her voice is kept low as she speaks low into your ear. “Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?”
Her anger turns to a sweet so sickening it’s hard for you to admit that it makes you wetter - both sides of her and the flip between them.
You shake your head. “N-no Daddy. It wasn’t. I’m sorry.”
She moves her head to the other side of your neck and leaves another equally large, painful hickey. She smiles as you cry out in pain once more, it growing as she pulls away to whisper in your ear. “Then I guess you can come, puppy, why don’t you make a big old mess that I can make Maria clean up tonight. When I come in tomorrow to the floor and see it cleaned, I want to remember how fucking cute you looked when I made you fall apart so easily.”
Your moans are loud enough to shake the glass vase on the closest bookshelf to you. The hand keeping you in place drops to your swollen, desperate clit. The pads of two fingers make large circles around the most sensitive part of you. They’re wet quickly, the smooth feeling like silk against you. There’s something deep inside of you – something heavy, something growing. An explosion under something rarely stays an under for very long; you’re the dock and the pleasure are the waves. You can see them, crashing under you but you just can’t grab it. You buck your hips back feverishly, with no rhyme or rhythm to your movements. This is the end of the symphony, the final key change, the crescendo that you’re not sure can get louder but you still hope it does.
When you come, you think it’s so loud you’ll burst an eardrum. Just like at the end of a show, your blood sings and electricity cackles in your muscles. You’re floating, you’re above the rest of the world, you’re walking on air. Everything here is good – everything here is bright – everything can only be even better.
It succeeds the same way it came in, in waves. In ebbs and lows that fade before coming back ever so much, showing you what it was and what it could be. A preview, a small sample, a taste of what could be.
As it whisps away, the singing in your ears turns into the sounds of your panting. Your pupils are blown out, body wrapped in a light that feels sweet, somehow. You’re covered in a thin sheen of sweat, the wood under you cool to the touch. Kate’s words are muffled, but when your breathing evens out she’s telling you how good you did, how much she loves you.
And then you remember, you remember what happened the last time you saw her:
You’re laying in Kate’s circular bed, silk sheets making you feel like you’re floating on air. Everything, in this moment, is good. And you’re about to ruin it.
Kate’s in the bathroom, brushing her teeth. You can see her from where you are on the bed, watching her in a cropped loose shirt and sweatpants low on her hips. There are indents on her thighs from where the strap was, her letting you rest after hours of fucking you slow. She doesn’t do that often, so when she does, you like to savor it.
You also worry it may be the last time she ever fucks you like that.
When she comes back to the bedroom, Kate knows something is wrong. She doesn’t have to ask if you’re okay, she knows you’ll tell her when you’re comfortable.
That times sooner than you would like – you’ve been planning this for days, and you know that if you don’t do it now…you never will.
“I want to leave,” you tell her. She sits on the side of the best closest to you, making it easy for you to see her face fall. She doesn’t move, waiting for you to continue. “I want to buy my freedom.”
Kate doesn’t talk for a long time, her gaze a spotlight you’re sure could blind you. A few false starts happen, too, her mouth opening ever so slightly before closing once more. You’re sure hours have gone by before she finally speaks. “Are you sure?”
You don’t hesitate, you can’t. “I’m sure.”
Kate once more falls silent. “Okay. Get dressed, then. We can talk about the terms of your release downstairs.”
She leaves immediately, whisking herself downstairs to her home office. It’s similar to her office at the club, all dark wood and filled with books and trinkets. There’s a bed for Lucky (who’s currently in the kitchen begging Kate’s personal chef for scraps) and one for you, a mini-fridge, and secret compartments everywhere. It’s slightly homier, though, with a flatscreen television across from her desk so she can watch the news or games while she works. You even have your own heated blanket that you can wrap yourself in on cold nights. New York winters are brutal, but Kate’s insistence that “warm air breeds laziness” is even worse.
You dress yourself in the soft grey shorts you were wearing earlier and a large, well-worn sweatshirt Kate discarded when she came home at three that morning. It’s still thick even after years of wear, and smells just like Kate’s favorite deodorant. You didn’t know it then, but it would soon become the most painful thing you had to leave behind when you left. Everything hurt when you shut the door behind you, walking off without money or support or even an idea of where to go.
But that sweatshirt, the scents of your respective body wash and sweat and deodorant and perform mixing together in their own unique way…the reminder of Kate’s dedication sometimes able to be used for good, that not all that she does leads to pain…that hurt to leave. You’d have traded anything else you were able to pack in your backpack and duffel bag for that fucking sweatshirt.
Even when the A/C went out at one of your shitty apartments and the New York summer air made you gag…you wished you had it with you. It was your trophy, your prize for cracking down Kate’s defenses and getting to a place where she could be vulnerable. She told you a lot, on those nights you’ve never even dreamed of experiencing. About her parents, how she got that nickname she doesn’t want you to know about. How she got where she was, how she stayed there. How she met all the women in security.
Every time you had one of those late-night talks, where you ate ice cream from the carton while Kate stood against the fridge and you sat on a bar stool…all of those happened with one of you wear that sweatshirt.
The memory sends a strong shiver down your spine. Kate notices it, but doesn’t comment. She just gets you dressed in new sweats - enough that no one who doesn’t know you doesn’t comment on anything that could spark rumors that are too big. Being underdressed is one thing, not being dressed at all…that’s entirely another one.
“Let’s go, baby,” she murmurs in your ear. “We’ve got a whole lot of catching up to do.”
You stay close to her as she walks through the club, navigating it with an expertise that comes from walking the same route every day of the past ten or so years. Your gaze remains on the ground, only looking up when you realize you’ve stepped outside and need to step into one of the bulky, black cars that Kate loves. She has a whole fleet of them, and sometimes you would spot them around the city when you couldn’t afford public transport. Sometimes you thought they were watching you, but when life never got any easier, you refused to believe she would watch without positive intervention. It was easier to believe she didn’t care about you at all than to consider she’d saw your plight and done nothing.
There, in the backseat, folded so that the logo of some shitty bar that’s barely faded is front and center, is the sweatshirt. The sweatshirt. When you look back to Kate in shock, she just smirks.
“Told you you’d be back, baby,” she says with a knowing smile.

A/N: Here we go ladies and gentleman... Buckle Up!
Chapter 7:
"You see her?" Y/N was breathless in the comms as she started moving toward his direction.
"Marl-"
He was cut off by her raising her hand like she had in all those videos right before taking her victim's life.
He immediately flinched away at the movement, knowing there was no fighting it, before...
__________
Nothing happened. Not even a tickle. He had turned away from the gesture, bracing himself for the impact, but instead, there was silence. He felt no different than normal.
Upon turning back around, Marley gave him a confused look, with her hand still outstretched. He looked down at himself, examining for injury, but he was untouched.
She flicked her hand again in frustration, yet all that hit him was a small feeling of discomfort, but it wasn't anything close to what could have been. He looked down at his arms and saw the slightest glow had overtaken them. Highlights of the runes Y/N had cast on him showed they were in use.
"It's not going to work, Marley," a voice broke them both out of their confusion.
Y/N was behind them, staring sternly at Marley's back. Bucky hadn't seen this side of her before, and even he was frightened. It wasn't the anger she pointed at Tony or the disappointment she had cast on Steve.
Something about it was soft yet powerful; she didn't want to cause harm, but she wouldn't hesitate if Marley challenged her.
Marley stood between the two and took a step back so she could keep her eyes on both threats. She dipped her chin, giving the two new opponents a devilish watch.
Bucky couldn't help but wonder if the young woman recognized Y/N or was so far gone that nothing could pull her from her mission. He'd been in those shoes before, and he knew the conflict raging in her mind too well.
Y/N put her hands up after seeing the fear take over Marley's features. She was still in a fight stance, but something was combating behind those green eyes.
"Mars," she gently said her nickname like a code word to break her from her spell, but nothing changed. "You need to snap out of it. I can help you if you let me-"
Marley twitched her head again and flung an arm to Y/N, but all it did was stop her in her coaxing. Frustration grew when nothing happened. Y/N was unscathed.
"I told you. It's not going to work," Y/N shook her head softly, taking careful, calculated steps closer. "I don't want to hurt you if I don't have to, so please make this easier for all of us." Her words were more so thoughts she was verbalizing, but with each step, hope that Marley wouldn't counter her efforts gleamed in her eyes.
"There's nothing for her to snap out of," a voice came on over an intercom they hadn't realized worked. Bucky and Y/N's heads snapped above them, trying to pinpoint the new sound. "Her brain chemistry has been altered for a more... Efficient use."
Y/N looked up at the speakers mounted on the wall, collecting cobwebs and looking as though they had been out of use for years.
"Who. Are. You." Her voice promised violence if the owner dared to show themselves. Her eyes quickly moved back to Marley on the defense.
"Not like you'll find me to make the fact matter," he responded. His accent is a thick Russian one. "We're long gone and evacuated. Our little pet the only thing left to tie up loose ends. Though, I must say. I wasn't expecting a set of Avengers to be our guests."
"You've killed multiple agents, experimented on a wide group of innocent people, and kidnapped someone very close to me." The last word said with a venom that showed they fucked up in that alone. "Are you ignorant enough to think we wouldn't?"
"Even an Avenger-level threat does not phase us, given our experimentations," he paused, and there was a cockiness in his tone. "Subject 9, terminate the threat."
Y/N was too slow in destroying the intercoms on the wall, as the command had already struck its target while the metal combusted and fell to ash on the ground. Marley's eyes blinked as if a switch flipped, and she was immediately pulled back into killer mode, which she had only strayed from for a millisecond. She began to levitate in her spot, and strong vibrations started to shake the walls.
"Barnes, get out of here," Y/N commanded in an even tone. Where he could usually feel and read her emotions easily, she had them veiled in a way he couldn't tell anything past the pure earnestness in her voice.
"You already gave me a chance to get out. I made my choice, and I'm not changing my mind," he shouted over the loud clanking and shattering of things falling around them.
She groaned in what he could tell was frustration, but she didn't have time to debate as Marley shifted her energy onto her. She blocked it effortlessly, making her own movements to cast what could best be described as energy rays toward her opponent.
It blinded Marley at first, but then she threw an invisible force back at Y/N that she hadn't predicted, making her feet slide back on the ground as she planted them firmly against the vibrational wave.
Back and forth, the two sent shot after shot of pure energy and rage at the other. Until Y/N slid across the ground, hitting and fumbling into a steel table, she was only able to brace against it at the last minute, still slamming into it harshly. The initial hit stunted her some, but she was moving to her feet.
Bucky watched as it all played out in front of him, and the first thing he could think of was to wing the enemy. He grabbed a revolver out of his thigh holster and aimed for Marley's shoulder. The first shot made the hit. She flinched at the pain and turned her attention to the weaker opponent.
He realized his mistake as it didn't really do much damage to her, but he shot again, hoping to leave flesh wounds. But by the second shot, she raised a hand, stopping the bullet in mid-air.
He knew all he had done was distract her for a few seconds, so he was already on the move for coverage behind a wall leading to a back hall. He barely made it to the concrete shield before a steel table, much like the one Y/N had been thrown into, flew mid-air, wrapping around a pillar next to him.
"Stop!" Y/N shouted, already back in a fighting stance. Marley turned to her and tilted her head down, giving Y/N an evil and sadistic stare. "I don't want to hurt you, Mars! But if you don't stop... It can't keep going on like this." Y/N's voice was ridden with regret and hurt as she said each word of warning.
Bucky grunted as he looked around the corner to assess their battleground. Brainwashing wasn't as simple of a fix as one could wish. It was impossible to bargain with.
Marley seemed to grow impatient with her fight lasting longer than normal. She stomped a foot in front of her, and a crack in the ground slithered toward Y/N's feet. The (Y/H/C) held a hand out, sealing the hit with a light that steadied the foundation.
"Come on. I'm supposed to look after you. I don't want to do this." Y/N's hands raised, showing she would continue the fight, although reluctantly.
Bucky watched as no emotion crossed Marley's face. He recognized it as someone who had been in the same headspace. It was the same face he had seen in videos of his old self. People pleading and begging him to stop and give them a chance, and not a single thought besides bringing an end to their target was behind his eyes in those moments.
Floating mid-air, Marley threw both her hands, palm showing to Y/N, and vibration waves grew in strength as every ounce tunneled in on her.
She was quick to deflect it, crossing her arms to block the hit thrown at her as she created an energy force around her.
But Marley saw how equal of an opponent she was and amplified her strength against her, pulling her arms back and pushing out again with more force. Bucky watched as Y/N's knees buckled just a touch at the strength but still stood strong.
As if collecting every ounce of energy from Marley's exertion, she threw her arms back to her side with a grunt, sending the force right back to Marley and throwing her off balance.
Marley shot back at the hit and fell against a wall. She was quick to try and regain her balance, but Y/N threw another round of power at her. Each time Marley tried to bounce back, Y/N kept her down with calculated yet brash hits. It didn't look to be hurting her, just stunting her own motives and keeping her at bay.
"Snap out of it!" Y/N shouted with anger as she threw hit after hit with each word, and Marley kept coming back for more.
"Y/N!" Bucky shouted, trying to get her to snap out of it. They needed a different approach, but he didn't know what. He looked around for tools, clues, anything to shut Marley down but not hurt her.
Along the wall, there was a shut-down freezer full of trifled-through viles and medications. He ran for it, looking back to see the two women going at each other. One trying to kill the other, and the other just trying to slow the other down.
Quickly, he examined the contents of the vials and saw things like penicillin and ampicillin, simple antibiotics, but nothing useful to take down someone like Marley. Then he saw two vials that he knew, with the right measurements, could aid them.
Hurriedly, he found a needle and measured the contents before returning to the other two.
Marley was adapting to Y/N's hits, and Y/N wasn't attempting to amp up her punches, making it easier for Marley to overpower her again soon.
Bucky snuck through the room in a skilled way that kept the attention off of him and maneuvered to them both.
"Stop fighting back!" Y/N pleaded for the hundredth time.
Finally, Marley let out a blood-curdling scream that seemed to break through Y/N's energy fields. Her hands instantly went to muffle her ears, shielding them from the pain.
Bucky cringed at the sound himself, the pure pitch of it making him fold over the table in pain, but he continued to make his move.
Just as Marley was seconds from coming close to incapacitating Y/N, Bucky jumped from behind and stabbed her in the neck with the syringe.
Marley flinched at the pain and turned to throw Bucky hard against a wall. His head met the concrete with a horrible smack, and his body made an indent in the solid wall before going limp against it.
"Bucky!" Y/N shouted. A hand left her ear, moving in his direction. The motion left her vulnerable for Marley to send another hit her way. Her body rolled painfully along the floor until she hit another piece of metal furniture with a loud crash.
She cringed in pain, moving to get up, but seeing Bucky still unconscious in the other room made the rage bubble through her in a new way.
Marley was stomping towards her. Each step made a crack in the grey slab of rough concrete below her. Rage burned in her eyes, and she decided to use her hands to punish Y/N.
"Marley, I'd highly advise against doing what you're thinking," Y/N groaned as she read Marley's body language.
Before she could move to defend herself, Marley threw a strong wave, pushing her back into the table she had barely untangled herself from and punched her twice in the face with more power than someone her size should be able to deliver. Y/N was able to block the third and fourth impacts. Irritated, Marley used her powers to throw her opponent's head into the ground with a sadistic smirk.
Y/N blinked repeatedly after the hit. Maybe she was out of practice in this area more than she thought, and her reaction time was hindered not just by the loss of muscle memory but also by the fact the person hurting her wasn't any other bad guy. But she was tired of taking her hits. Marley had got hers in. It was her turn now.
White orbs took over her eyes, and a colorful aura overtook Marley's senses.
The black-haired woman raised her hands, swatting around her like the motion would make the energy field around her disappear like a fog. She began to blink rapidly, fighting whatever was taking over her, and she stumbled in her step forward.
She tried to regain her balance, but whatever mixture Bucky had hit her with seemed to kick in as well, and she couldn't find her footing. She shuffled backward, falling on the ground before crawling back on her feet and hands. For the first time since they'd arrived, genuine fear showed in her eyes.
When she knew her power had done its job, Y/N stopped projecting whatever was breaking her out of the brainwashed symptoms and let out a deep sigh. Marley's fight was gone, and any energy she had left was spent trying to grasp her bindings. Y/N's energy was just as well spent as her body sagged with exhaustion.
"It's done, Mars," Y/N said, catching her breath, her shoulders slouching in relief. The kind of energy she had just exerted was more than she had managed in a long time. Marley's mind had been heavily guarded, and she was left feeling like she had run ten straight marathons in the span of two minutes. "I'm not going to hurt you," she put her hands up in a show of peace. A line of blood was trickling down her temple heavily, as well as her nose, and she was starting to bruise under her eye.
Y/N peered over her shoulder, seeing Bucky start to stir ever so slightly, but before she rushed to him, she checked Marley one more time. The anger and objective of eliminating anyone within striking distance was gone. Nothing in those green eyes showed they wanted to murder the next person to share the same air as her, and a breath of comfort coursed through her.
"Stay here," she pointed to her as Marley stared ahead, trying to grasp her surroundings. "First." Sending her apologetic eyes, she knelt down and pressed a finger to her forehead even though she cringed away from it.
Her body went slack but held against the wall she had crawled to like she was finally allowed to take a deep breath after so long of only having shallow ones. She was slowly blinking out of the haze she had been in for too long.
"I'll be right back," Y/N breathed in shallow solace breaths, taking a second, and then squeezed her shoulder before running to where Bucky had been flung.
Bending down to his side, her hands ghosted over his beat-up body. One hit was all he had endured, but Marley's power had proven to do mass damage.
She laid a gentle hand on top of his chest, sending a shot of power through him like a shock, and his eyes opened quickly before he sucked in a sharp take of air.
"Easy Sarge. Easy," she held her hand firmly on his chest so that he wouldn't jut up and cause further damage.
When he looked around, blinking away the stars that were glistening in his sight, he saw blood painting her face.
"Your face. Are you-?" his hand came up quickly, concerned and reaching forward to her.
"I've had worse. I'll make it, I promise. It's you I'm more worried about," she shook off, grabbing his hand from her cheek and squeezing it. She sent him a small smile even though no true happiness was behind it. "Let's get you fixed up."
With a wave of her hand and in a blur, Bucky's splitting headache and pain throughout his back were gone. He was back to full strength. And because of that, his first and only concern was Y/N.
"Head wounds bleed like a bitch," he stood up, helping her as she stood with him, slower than he was. "Let me see." As he grabbed both sides of her face, he made a quick look behind her to assess for danger but saw Marley curled into herself with her knees to her chest, looking around nervously. "What happened?"
"A lot," Y/N sighed, turning her head as much as she could in his palms. "I have a feeling we can't stay here for long, though. We'll worry about the damage later."
Before she could move back to Marley, Bucky held her face sternly in his grasp. His eyes shifted back and forth between her own.
"I'll be okay, Barnes. She's priority one right now," she assured, holding his forearms and squeezing them reassuringly before pulling them back so she could focus on the younger woman. "Hey," she walked to Marley, who was watching her carefully and squatted a few feet in front of her. Her eyes assessed to make sure any old version of her was long gone. "You back to normal?"
Marley stared at her, somewhat bewildered, and then a frown started forming on her face.
"What have I done?" she whispered, ignoring Y/N's question and looking around at the damaged room.
Chunks of the ceiling were now on the ground, creating gaping holes in the floor above. Abandoned medical equipment was turned on its side or morphed from the hits it had taken being thrown across the room. Glass and tools were thrown askew and looked to be flung like confetti.
"You did nothing. That wasn't you," Y/N shook her head furiously, her arms resting on her knees from the position she was in.
"I-I killed," she choked on her words, her hand coming to her mouth. "So many people..." Marley started to choke on her words. Her voice was rough from little use.
"Don't you dare do that to yourself. Not right now," Y/N was on a mission and in big sister and Captain mode. They're much-needed therapy session would have to wait until they were back on the jet out of harmway. "We need to"
"It's not that easy, Y/N," Marley muttered, not moving from her position, her eyes fixed on the wall behind her confidante in guilt.
Y/N turned her attention back to the younger woman and gave her a muddled expression. "Sure it is." Y/N tried to muster up a convincing smile, but anyone with eyes could see through it. "Bucky, help me get-"
The place began to rumble before she could finish her sentence, and the ground beneath them became unsteady as it shook violently.
She glanced at Marley with dread written all over her face.
"That's not me," Marley shook her head, looking around, but she didn't seem as phased by it as she should have been.
"What is it?" Bucky spoke up, ducking as pieces of concrete trickled around him. Y/N used the bit of energy she had left to create a field around them as shards of debris fell from the ceiling.
"I told you it wouldn't be that easy..." Marley grunted as she re-positioned herself. "You guys need to get out of here while you still can."
"We need to get out of here," Y/N corrected. "Come on. I got you," she moved to wrap an arm through Marley's, but she pulled back, her back to the wall as if she was glued to the building itself.
"He won't let me leave," she shook her head, avoiding eye contact like the plague.
"What do you mean? Who's he?" Y/N grumbled, growing irritated. The ground shook harder each minute that passed, and she jerked her head to the exit, not caring for the timing of the argument. "Marley, stop this nonsense. We don't have time for this!" she shouted, pulling on her arm gently but still frantically.
"You're right we don't. But it's not going to work out in anyone's favor if I leave with you!" Marley snapped.
Y/N pulled away and looked at her, bewildered and flabbergasted by her wording. It didn't last long, as her patience was dwindling, and she was tired of arguing.
"Move your ass, Marley," she said sternly. "Now, or I'll make you."
"Y/N," Bucky alerted as cracks made their way down the foundation and up the walls. It wouldn't be long until they were under a pile of rubble.
"I know you don't understand," Marley begged, finally staring strongly into Y/N's eyes. "Trust me that it's what I want to do. Let me do it. Let me fix this," the young girl practically begged.
There was silent communication between the two, and Bucky watched as they stayed safe in the bubble Y/N had created for them, but even that was flickering with weaknesses. She had wielded herself in the fight more than she planned. She couldn't keep it up if the building collapsed on them.
"No. No, that's not your job. Your job is to get out of here safely, and then we can figure the rest out after," Y/N stated, not verbalizing what they were talking about telepathically. "You don't owe anything-"
"It's not about what I owe. It's about the path I plan to choose for myself. You know better than anyone what that means to me," Marley shook her head again, still not budging from her spot.
Bucky didn't have to know minuscule details of her past to know what being given a choice after so long of being stripped of it meant. Not just these last few years. Since she was a kid, she didn't have much of a choice.
"Not like this. Please," Y/N begged, stepping closer and studying her for any weakness in her disposition on the matter that she could creep into and convince her otherwise.
"Their plan B will be catastrophic if not destroyed right now. And I know how to dismantle it," she started to stand, holding her ribs as she cringed at the slight pain she had taken in their scrabble.
"I can do it. I'll take care of it," Y/N shook her head. "You get Bucky out of here."
Not even knowing where the thing that needed to be destroyed was exactly, Y/N turned, determined to scope out the weapon's energy, even if it would take longer than normal with her weakened powers.
"No," Marley shook her head, knowing Y/N didn't stand a chance to win the argument she had already decided the outcome of. The ground quivered angrily, causing Bucky and Y/N to lose their footing.
The walls might as well have been plaster at this point as their structure was gone and less than minutes from giving out.
More pieces of concrete and debris began to fall from the caving ceiling. Marley quickly moved to where she was cutting Y/N off from her path. She was going to be the one to destroy the thing.
"So help me, God, I'm not losing you again. Go before I make you," Y/N ordered in a fierce tone, her eyes sharp, hands flickering white instead of their normal unmoving glow, but still not leaving any room for discussion.
"I'm sorry. I love you... I hope you'll forgive me one day," Marley replied with a sad smile. She turned to Bucky. "Get her out of here."
"Mar-"
Just as Y/N reached her hand out, Marley's powers overtook the room, making the ground cave in around her, and a wall of tumbling rocks cut her off from Y/N and Bucky. She had disappeared in a pit of dust and gravel as she went under toward the weapon that sat at the core of the building.
Debris and rocks turned to nothing but dust filling the air, and before Y/N could fathom what happened, she was being pulled back into Bucky's arms to keep her from getting hit by boulders freefalling from the level above.
She waved her hand while in Bucky's embrace; the dust accumulated into a cloud, and she pushed it out of the smallest open hole away from them.
In front of them, a hole peered down into the escape route she had taken. She was still close but fleeing farther away. Y/N could feel it, but she couldn't tell where.
"We have to get out of here! This place isn't going to be standing for much longer," Bucky shouted over the shambles that were tumbling around them, pulling her wrist to keep her from going far.
"I'm not leaving her! I can't- I can't do it again!" she shouted back, attempting to pull away, but Bucky's full strength, compared to her damaged one, kept her close.
"Y/N, please! If you die too, her sacrif-" he stopped, knowing the words that would follow wouldn't help. "It will be for nothing," he negotiated.
"I don't care!"
"That's not true," he said sternly.
"Please, please," she sobbed, looking back at him only for a second, her pray stinging her eyes with pained tears. "I can't go through it again. I just got her back."
Bucky barely had time to move her as a piece of debris fell right above them, clipping Y/N's shoulder as he yanked her from being completely flattened by it.
A cry came from her as she crumpled into him at the impact. He held her weight up as she hissed at the pain radiating from her shoulder down her arm. Blood was already pooling in her tactical suit's fibers.
She blinked away the pain and attempted to let the adrenaline take over, but Bucky decided he was taking charge now. He didn't care to see her further injured, though the last hit had hindered her fight enough that he could pull her toward an exit as she used his support more than her own.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," he apologized softly as she limped alongside him, looking back at the building leveling itself by the second. "You shouldn't have had to make this decision again..." he thought to himself.
Everything was a blur. She remembered pushing and fighting against Bucky, but she also remembered being discombobulated by everything around them. Muffled alarms were sounding, ceilings were caving in, and her legs were barely moving on their own.
She turned her head just as Bucky seemed to pull her from the carcass of the building when a blast sent them down a hill at least 20 feet from the massacre.
A piercing sound took over her hearing. It was dark outside, and the little bit of light in the middle of nowhere came from the calming tones of the moon paired with the angry fire of the facility corrupting in flames.
"No," she breathed out as a stark hit to her gut held her down, finding herself laid out on her side in the grass about 40 feet away from the wreckage. Bucky had barely got them away before the explosion pushed them at a further distance.
Blood restrained her from seeing more than a blurred image in the same place the building once stood. She tried to blink it away, wiping her hands down her face. A deep crimson color covering them.
Was it her blood or-?
Bucky groaned as he rolled on his side. She turned to him, asking her question with her eyes.
"Nothing past bruised ribs," he answered. "I'll be fine. Are you-?"
After confirming he was okay, she turned away and went to sit up with a grimace. She didn't care how she was. She didn't care if she would die in the next few minutes from blood loss. Her last concern was whether she had been granted yet another day on this evil and selfish earth.
She stood slowly, placing a hand on her shoulder and feeling the wetness of the cut but not actually feeling the pain yet. She could heal herself in the next hour if she wanted, but she welcomed the pain. The sting of grief was worse, and she'd choose a dislocated shoulder to focus on any day.
Bucky was calling her name as she limped toward the rubble that burned in front of them, but she blocked him out.
Her lip began to tremble, and the tears in her eyes started to wash a streak of blood away down her cheeks as she processed the setting in front of her. The last 20 minutes flashed like a movie across her eyes, and the sob she let out as she fell sharply on her knees made the trees bend in response.
It was done.

Tempting Fate- Chapter 5
Pairing: Sebastian Stan x Reader
Word Count: 2,066
Warnings: swearing, DELICIOUS SMUTTY SMUT (18+ only)
A/N: Hey, y’all! @sonofadeanwinchester and I decided it’d be cool if we wrote a series together. SO, HERE’S CHAPTER 3! Please, please, please give us feedback. Feedback is the glue that keeps the writers together. We need the feedback. Send either of us an ask, and we’ll just send each other screenshots. Or you can send it to both of us. Thanks, lovelies.
Summary: I haven’t seen him since I was 18. Haven’t spoken in years. He changed when he got his ticket to fame. But what happens after you choose to give up and let fate take the wheel?
Masterlist
Sebastian leans in, just barely touching his lips to yours, trying to predict how you’ll react. Your brain gets fuzzy, and all you can think about is how good his lips feel on yours, and how much you missed this. You deepen the kiss and feel Seb relax, pulling you tight to his chest. He nibbles on your lip, and you try to pull him on top of you.
He chuckles at your feeble attempt at moving him, but he gets the hint and moves so he’s on top of you. He keeps kissing you, and you run your fingers through his hair as he traces his hands down your body. You moan into the kiss, which only gets him going more. He starts grinding on you slowly as you kiss. You reach down, hooking your fingers in his shirt, waiting for his response. He sits up, doing that super hot thing guys do where they reach behind their back and pull their shirt over their head. You bite your lip when his shirt is off, noticing how built he is from his recent movies. You pull him back down on top of you, and he makes quick work of your pajama shirt.
“You’re so beautiful, scumpa mea.”
You moan, looking into his eyes, “you know what it does to me when you speak Romanian…”
He smirks, slipping his hand into your underwear. He leans down and kisses you softly and slowly, stroking your clit. You moan into the kiss, bucking your hips up toward his hands.
“How’s that, baby?” He whispers into your ear, nibbling it softly.
You nod, unable to find words to describe the ecstasy you’re feeling right now.
He slips in a finger, starting to kiss down your body. He slips off your pants and underwear while curling his finger inside you. He slowly moves his mouth down and starts sucking on your clit.
You gasp, arching your back off the bed, “God, Seb, you’re so good.” You feel your orgasm getting closer, and you reach down, pulling on his hair a little. He groans loudly, adding another finger. A few more thrusts with his fingers, and you’re coming undone, moaning his name.
He moves back up, kissing you passionately, “talk to me, baby.”
You wrap your arms around his neck, looking into his eyes, “Seb, I need you. I’ve needed you for years.”
He quickly gets off the bed, removing his clothes before quickly jumping back onto the bed, getting on top of you. “Do you have…….?”
“I’m on the pill, we’re fine. We should probably be quiet, though.”
He props himself up on his elbows, one on either side of you, “I don’t think I’ll be able to hold back, (Y/N). We’ve both been waiting for this for way too long.” He slips inside you, and starts a quick pace.
He leans down and kisses you deeply as he thrusts harder, moaning with each thrust. He sucks on your neck, biting it gently. He finds your sensitive spot on your neck, eliciting a loud moan from you.
“Baby, I can’t hold on much longer,” he breathes, and you wrap his legs around your waist as you feel your second climax approaching faster than a freight train.
He lets out one last animalistic groan, and he cums hard inside you, and you follow a second later.
He kisses you deeply, pulling out of you as you kiss. He falls next to you, laying on his side looking at you, running his fingers up and down your stomach.
He sighs, smiling sweetly at you. “That was…”
“Incredible? Long overdue?”
“I think both.” He leans over, kissing your cheek. “But I also think that was definitely worth the wait.”
You nod slowly, “Absolutely.”
Sebastian kisses you softly, “we should probably get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow.” He rolls you over onto your side, facing away from him. He pulls you against him so you’re spooning with one of his arms around your waist.
You start drifting off to sleep and just barely hear him murmur, “I love you, (Y/N). Always have, always will.”
---
Sebastian’s POV
It’s official. I’m still madly in love with her. As if I ever stopped being in love with her. She still means the world to me, and I will never let myself lose her again. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I’ll shout it from the rooftops. Now with her laying beside me, her long blonde hair covering her satin smooth skin, I can’t help the grin that spreads over my lips. This was always something I had dreamt of doing since the first day I met her. When she giggled and swung her golden hair over her shoulder, those hazel eyes shining in the sunlight. She walked with such poise and grace that it would any woman to shame. And now, laying beside me, knowing that I’ve finally had the chance to make it up to her. To mend her heart, or at least take a step in the direction of becoming what we were. I feel my heart jump around in my love blown chest, proof that this really was happening. That this wasn’t just one of my overly vivid dreams. I’ve finally landed that girl of my dreams.
Her breathing slows down, and I can tell she’s asleep. I gently kiss the back of her neck and whisper a quick “I love you.” Because I always have. And I’ll never stop loving her.
I still remember the first time I told her I loved her…
I stumbled into my apartment, slightly drunker than I had left intending to be. Chace followed suit and stumbled in behind me, a bit more sober. "I think you should just move on, man."
I shook my head and sighed. Thoughts of her just kept pouring through my head. All day and all night. When I woke up, there she was. When I went to sleep, there she was. It was as if she was a ghost and was haunting my mind every single second. I shook my head once more, "I can't."
Chace rolled his eyes, fumbling through the fridge. "What are you gonna do about it then? Either fucking call her or move on. There are a hundred girls down the street that are willing to hook up with you."
But it's not her, I thought to myself. Digging through my jean pockets, I retrieved my phone and skimmed through the contacts. When I came onto her name, my movements froze. You can do this man, come on. I took a final deep breath and pressed dial. The line rang for what felt like forever. When I heard her chipper voice, my stomach dropped and thought for a second that I was going to have to actually face her. But when her voice giggled and spoke that she's not really on the phone but instead, partying hard with her friends. I hope that isn't code for partying with a man. I caught my thought and shook my head. Goddammit, Sebastian. You are so fucking petty.
I sighed. "Hey, (Y/N). It's, uh, it's me. Sebastian. Just calling to see how you've been and to see how your parents are doing. Everything is good he-. Fuck it. I can’t lie to you. I miss you so damn much. And you know what, I'm so fucking drunk right now that I could climb fucking Mount Everest and scream at the top of my lungs, until my voice is merely a whisper, that I love you. I fucking love you so much and being apart from you, knowing that you've probably moved on right now, that you're with someone who isn't me, well, it fucking breaks my heart.” I wiped a single tear away from my eye, my mouth a little too dry and my voice a little too shaky. I continue, my heart crashing in on itself. “I just wanna crawl into a ball and cry till there aren't anymore tears. I could fill the whole fucking Atlantic Ocean with the tears that I could cry for you, that I have cried for you. I wish I would've done something different, held onto you a little tighter. I should’ve gave you a reason to hang on, to wait for me. I love you and that's never going to change. I've loved you since the first day we met and I'm going to love you until the last breath in my lungs are gone. And you know what, I'll use those final moments to whisper into the cold, lifeless air that I love you. That even in the after life, wherever that may be, that I'm going to love you even then." I looked to the side and saw Chace throwing up into a garbage can. "Fuck, Chace is heaving. Listen, when you get this message, I really really need you to call me back, okay? I love you, iubito."
I wake up the next afternoon with a ridiculous headache, only remembering bits and pieces. The one thing I remember with absolute clarity, though, is the voicemail I left her last night. I sit up, albeit too quickly, and immediately check my phone. Nothing from (Y/N). Alright, fuck this. At least I’m in the same city as her. I immediately change into jeans and a t shirt because I’m too pissed off and hungover for anything else, and grab my keys and start driving to her place. If she’s not home, I’ll just wait for her.
I go 80 the whole way there without getting stopped by a single cop. I stop in front of her apartment, taking a deep breath before stepping out of the car. I head up to the main gate, buzzing someone else’s name. I lie and tell them I’m delivering Chinese food, and they let me in the complex. I practically sprint up to her door, knocking quickly. She opens it, and as usual, i’m dumbfounded by her beauty.
“Sebastian?” She says, confused, “what the fuck are you doing here?”
“Hey, doll. Listen, I left you a voicemail last night. Did you listen to it?”
She raises an eyebrow, shaking her head, “I went out last night and my purse got stolen, along with my phone.” “FUCK! I yell at the top of my lungs, putting a hand on her door frame. “Of course you did. The same night I decide to fess up the feelings I’ve been holding in for years.”
“Sebastian, what the hell are you talking about? You’re not making any sense.”
“JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, (Y/N). I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU. YOU RIDICULOUS WOMAN. I HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH YOU FOR YEARS. Since the day we met. I’ve always been in love with you. I’ve wanted to tell you so many times, but I’ve been so scared. I wanted to tell you at Disneyland when I kissed you under the fireworks. I wanted to tell you when we were dancing together at prom. I just didn’t know if you felt the same…”
She’s angry now, and she looks like she’s about ready to get in a fistfight, “ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS, SEBASTIAN? I’ve loved you forever. I thought you knew this whole time. I have never stopped loving you. The first time you kissed me, I felt like I was flying. I never wanted to come down. But guess what, Stan? It’s too fucking late now.”
“What the fuck does that mean?” “I don’t give a shit if you’re in love with me anymore. You’re way too late. You should’ve told me years ago. I can’t do this.”
“Excuse me? How can it possibly be too late?”
“For fuck’s sake, Sebastian, are you really that stupid? You kissed me at prom, made me feel like we really had something, and then the second you got into your fucking acting school, you left me. You left me alone, and I was stuck picking up the pieces. You destroyed me. So yeah, it is too late. I don’t give a fuck about your feelings anymore, because you really never cared about mine.” She slams the door in my face, almost catching my hand in the door.
I sigh, quietly sobbing to myself as I lean against her door, sinking to the floor.

clear the clouds (bucky barnes x reader)
summary: after weeks of bucky feels down, natasha knows exactly who to call to make him feel better
pairing: bucky barnes x reader
words: 2,030
trigger warnings: sickening fluff, also - please don’t take kitten rearing advice from fanfiction
notes: this is a birthday present for the effervescent @m00nlightdelights, who asked for bucky barnes interacting with kittens. happy birthday babe!
ask box / masterlist / commission info / ko-fi

Natasha was the one who called you – asking something many dream for but very few get to experience. It’s hard to transport that many tiny, wriggling animals across town and very few are willing to pay the exorbitant, arbitrary amount of money you had made some intern put on the website after the twentieth call asking about the particular service.
People, apparently, really want to rent a bunch of kittens for several different types of events – finals weeks at universities and rich high schools, bat and bar mitzvahs, once even a wedding. Why those event coordinators can’t rent service animals is beyond you, and why they always expect you to do these things for free is also a mystery.
No matter why those people wanted your kittens, you closed the service except for incredibly rare cases.
One of those incredibly rare cases, per the usual path of your life, involved Natasha Romanoff.
You owed her a favor from a few years back, when she made sure an ex-boyfriend of yours…well, for legal purposes you can’t talk about it, but Natasha made sure he never bothered you or your friends ever again.
Natasha’s got enough tact not to bring the year-long ordeal up – just said she wanted to “cash in” on your side of the bargain. You sighed into the office landline when she told you she was calling for her favor, the exhale so deep it was still audible despite the barking and scratching and the menagerie of other noises.
It takes you a second to collect yourself, to shove the memories back into that little box your therapist had you build and then tuck into the back of your brain.
Despite not being able to see her face, you can tell she’s frowning and has furrowed her brow. “You good?”
You nodded, then remembered how phones work. “Yeah,” you let out a small sigh. “Yeah, I’m fine. You want the kittens at Avengers Towers this weekend for a few hours to help that friend of yours-“
“Bucky,” Natasha interrupts you. “His name is Bucky. And you should go out with him.”
Despite still knowing how phone works, you roll your eyes. “Didn’t you just say he spent the last week bedridden because of depression. It doesn’t exactly sound like he’s in the right state of mind for a relationship.”
Your friend scoffs into the phone, shutting what you think is a thick book for dramatic audial effect. “And you spend fifteen hours a day at your shelter because it gives you an excuse not to see people. I don’t need you to marry him, I’m saying maybe a coffee date would be good for you.”
There’s a pause where you search for a sarcastic response, but Natasha beats you to it.
“Actually, no,” she says, voice dripping with a lovable dryness you can’t help but admire. “It will be good for both of you.”
Another pause while you recalculate your sarcastic response cortex. After a deeply silent thirty seconds, you give up.
“Fine,” you acquiesce. “But you and Wanda are helping me and you’re buying me lunch for that day and you’re helping me during adoption day at the museum next month.”
Somehow, you can hear Natasha’s wide and triumphant smile. “You got it, kid.”
And with that, you hang up before falling back in your office chair. You swear, that woman could convince you to do anything.
Fucking spies, you think before putting the event in the shelter’s e-calendar.
The day arrives both too quickly and not quickly enough – your brain caught between something akin to “existential dread” and “oh my God my friend is trying to set me up with her friend and what if it doesn’t work but what if it does” the entire week before the planned event. During the night before you down quadruple your normal dose of melatonin to fall asleep after spending three entire hours trying on all your clothes to plan the right outfit (in the end, you chose an unusually nice pair of leggings and a plan sweater along with boots cute enough to fool a man into thinking they’re fancy while still protecting your feet from the end-stage winter air outside.
(Also, the leggings and sweater are the easiest things to lint roll kitten fur off of you for, say, a date at an upscale coffee shop you normally wouldn’t even think of going to, but that’s nobody’s business and you totally one hundred percent did not think about that when trying the outfit on.)
You meet Natasha and Wanda at the shelter the next morning, you getting there before them to gather the necessary supplies from the back. Despite them promising to help you load your car with kittens and kitten-adjacent items, you still didn’t want either of them messing with the precious organization system you’d spent years perfecting (and years training interns and vet techs how to abide by it).
Luckily, with your precautions and time management – and despite Wanda’s need to kiss every kitten (yes, every kitten) as they were loaded into crates – you arrive at the infamous Stark Tower right on time.
Set up of the whole thing doesn’t take long, Natasha successfully leading the way through the maze of which is the expansive building. You pass a few people you recognize from Natasha’s stories and the news, and a few others who you don’t but still smile as they pass (whether they were just being nice or smiling at the kittens in the crates you were holding, you refused to decide).
It takes a few elevator rides, but eventually you get to the desires floor and room – Wanda knocking on the door after setting her Ikea bag of playpen supplies on the carpeted floor.
A response is nearly immediate. “Go away!” a gruff voice calls, muffled by the thick walls.
Natasha and Wanda both roll their eyes. “Shut up and open the door!” the former replies.
There’s no verbal response, but you do hear shuffling before the door opens to reveal a figure more brick house than man. His hair is messy, sweatshirt a size too large and solid black but with jeans that fit perfectly. His boots – much thicker and blacker than yours – are dirty.
“What do you want?” he grumbles.
Natasha remains unphased by the man’s demeanor. “We have kittens. Now move out of my way so we can set all this shit up and you can pet some cute animals.”
Bucky gives her a look and rolls his eyes, but steps asides and holds the door open for the three of you nonetheless.
Twenty minutes later, Bucky found in the middle of the four-foot wide pen, bewildered. He’s done a lot of things in his life, many of which would be impossible for (nearly) anyone else to accomplish. He speaks thirty languages (plus Morse code and ten variations of sign language), he’s hunted bears with his bare hands, he’s survived Russian winters and summers in the Amazon rainforest.
Yet, somehow, the thing that stunts him beyond reproach is a small play pen filled with about forty tiny, six-week old kittens that are all their own form of chaotic. Bucky doesn’t know where to look, let alone how to grab the ones that catch his eye. He’s terrified of crushing them like bug caught under a hardcover book, of breaking their tiny ribs or tiny legs or tiny necks.
He watched you intensely when you and Natasha and Wanda pulled them out of their crates, watching how you held them and which one allowed you to give them kisses and which one chased after the strands in Natasha’s ponytail. He noticed which ones curled up in small spheres in the corners of the pen, which ones immediately bopped about, which ones immediately sought out the bottle of formula you’d prepared and which ones nibbled at the liquidy wet food that had been scooped into a neon blue bowl.
Each tiny animal was different, and it amazed him.
There was this one cat, a fluffy little white one with one ear and splotches of buttery yellow seems the boldest, eyeing Bucky as if the man was this small cat’s Everest. The floral collar (one of those break-away ones, you had told him, meant to keep the kittens from getting hurt but allowing the rescuers to identify them by name and rescue identification number) has a small nameplate – a gold one – with “Squirt” etched into the metal.
“Squirt,” Bucky repeats under his breath. “Nice to meet you, little guy.”
The cat gives him a small, pterodactyl-like scream in response, as if the small animal is too young to speak in any other tone but “loud.”
“HELLO LARGE CAT,” he imagines the cat saying. “HELLO, I AM A SMALLER CAT. DO YOU WISH TO BE CLIMBED?”
Bucky smiles at the imagined conversation, allowing the brave creature to dig its tiny claws into the leg of his jeans just above his socked feet (he took off his boots when he arrived in the room, as per your request), the start to his magnificent journey.
“I do not mind being climbed,” the man answers out loud. For once, he doesn’t take in the entire room’s emotions and reactions before he says something – he just talks, even if that freedom from paranoia is only allowing him to speak to someone (or thing) that can’t talk back.
Squirt gets to Bucky’s knee before screeching once more, just as tenacious as when he was on the floor. “THIS IS MUCH HARDER THAN I EXPECTED,” is all Squirt says.
Bucky laughs, ignoring the several other kittens who are trying to claw up Bucky’s metal arm – each unsuccessful but determined to continue to try. “I’m a lot bigger than you realized, huh?”
Squirt takes a few more wobbly steps, tail high in the air, before looking to Bucky for guidance as the tiny creature stands on his thigh. “I WOULD LIKE SOME HELP, PLEASE,” Bucky interprets from the screeches.
He laughs, not moving. Another kitten, this time an equally tiny short-haired black cat named “Foosball” attempts to follow in Squirt’s literal and metaphorical footsteps, but gives up when she gets to Bucky’s knees. This, too, makes him let out a chuckle. “Don’t worry, kid. You’re doing just fine.”
You watch Bucky’s interactions with the kittens intensely – telling yourself you just need to make sure he doesn’t hurt them accidentally. In truth, he was handling them the best you’d seen anyone outside your shelter in a long time – gentle, firm, attentive. His pseudo-conversations warm your heart, and the only thing that breaks your concentration is one of the larger kittens walking up to the barrier of the pen to scream at you from inside her prison that she was hungry. Natasha and Wanda had long left, citing some bureaucratic problem that was probably bullshit but, regardless of accuracy, left you and Bucky alone.
“What does she want?” the man asks, body still frozen as Squirt climbs his chest.
“Butterfly wants to eat,” you reply while you grab one of the syringes with formula.
“Why can’t she eat from the bowl of food?” he asks. It’s not accusatory, just curious. It’s sweet, extremely so, and makes you realize that Natasha was right – this is good for him.
“At six weeks, most kittens are weened from their mothers or,” you pick Butterfly up and hold her against you as she suckles at the plastic nozzle. “In this case, syringes. But sometimes it just takes a little longer.”
Bucky hmms, turning his attention back to the kittens before he speaks again. “Do you want to get coffee?”
You swallow, looking at him look at Squirt. “Like…with you?”
Bucky nods as he sits up, the brave kitten now on his shoulder and several others vying for his attention. “I, uh,” he swallows. “Yeah. Coffee. With me. Like a, uh, a date. With me. Where we get coffee.”
You giggle a little, both at his flustered speech and at Butterfly’s post-feeding tiredness. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
“Cool,” is all Bucky replies, the both of you now focused back on the kittens.
Dammit, you think. Natasha was right again.

Pairings: Gabriel x OFC
_______________
“I did. I had to make sure that you were okay.”
Molly's mouth dropped. She had been wanting to hear Gabriel actually say something for ages! Now that he was speaking Molly wanted to do anything she could to keep him from clamming up again!
“I'm fine....just....shocked by all of that back there. Are you okay?”
Gabriel smirked.
“You just met your father, had all of your childhood dreams crushed, and you are asking me if I am okay?”
Molly looked down.
“You're the one that was kidnapped by a Colonel Sanders reject and had god knows what else done to you and you're asking me if I am okay.”
Gabriel smiled with a small shrug.
“Fair point.”
Molly sat down on the bed but kept her eyes locked on Gabriel.
“I've been waiting so long for you to say something for a while. Balthazar comes walking in here and has me in a tizzy now you're talking. I guess you like damsels in distress?”
Gabriel was silent for a moment before sitting down on the bed beside her.
“Maybe you in distress? What I can say I am a sucker for a pretty face. Its different with you though. I wanted to rip Balthazar's face off for the way that he was talking to you. If I were at full strength he wouldn't be sitting to pretty right now.”
Gabriel's golden eyes hadn't left Molly's face. She was silent for a moment before looking over at him.
“Soul mate genes?”
Gabriel nodded.
“Yeah. Look Molly, I don't want you to be with me because you feel like you have to take care of me or because our genes are dictating us to be together.”
Molly frowned.
“I do it because I want to be with you and I want to take care of you...genes dilating it or not.”
Molly reached down wrapping her hand around Gabriel's.
“I like this, us. I like feeling wanted. I've never really felt that it my life.”
Gabriel turned his hand over so he could stroke the inside of Molly's hand.
“I feel the same way too. With my crazy family it was too easy not to feel like a giant inconvenience.”
Molly's expression went sad when Gabriel mentioned being an inconvenience. She knew that feeling all too well.
“Well you don't have to feel that way anymore. You're not going to stop talking on me now are you?”
Gabriel shook his head.
“Nah, I'm good.”
Molly looked relived. She was quiet for a moment before becoming brave enough to ask her next question.
“Gabriel, I have to ask. What happened with Asmodeus?”
Gabriel's eyes winded as he looked dead ahead. His eyes were wide as he clearly relived everything that had happened to him. Molly watched him carefully for a few moments before sliding her hand on his thigh.
“Gabriel?”
He was quiet a few more seconds before blinking and shaking his head
“I don't want to talk about it Molly.”
He snapped. Molly pressed her lips together immediately looking down. She slightly expected that Gabriel wouldn't want to talk about whatever happened.
“Molly, I'm sorry. Look, I'm just not ready to talk about that right now. Things happened that I really don't want to face right now and talking about it....yeah not happening. When I am I promise you will be the first person that hears anything. Right now, I just want to focus on us. I get right now I can't be the soul mate that I am supposed to be but...”
Molly held up a hand.
“We'll get there. We both have a lot on our plates. You have your issues and I have to face Gordon Ramsey's twin in there at some point.”
Gabriel chuckled.
“Good name for him. That can be his code name. I'm pretty sure that he will figure it out quickly but I don't care. He can choke on his ego for all I care.”
Gabriel couldn't help feeling like a hypocrite when talking about Balthazar's ego. It was common knowledge to anyone that knew Gabriel that his own ego was bigger than Mt. Everest.
At the moment however, Gabriel could care less how big of a hypocrite he was. The last thing he wanted was for Balthazar to hurt Molly again. If Gabriel could prevent Balthazar from even looking at Molly again that would be just fine with him. Gabriel knew over the following days, or however long Balthazar blessed them with his presence, he was going to be on total edge. If Gabriel had to follow Molly around to keep her safe from her father then that would be the plan.
Gabriel doubted that Balthazar would “physically” harm Molly but he already showed that he didn't care to be mentally harmful. Being at half archangel power was definitely having its draw backs! Gabriel was tired of feeling weak. He knew it would be a while before he could literally go and kick Balthazar's ass into submission. But it wouldn't stop him from attempting to intimidate the other angel.
“Gabriel, don't worry yourself over Balthazar. I've made it without him my whole life, Making it without him now won't be too difficult.”
Gabriel leaned back.
“Yeah...I guess. Just the look on your face when that ass was running his mouth....I wanted to beam him to some island filled with rabid pygmy people.”
Molly watched Gabriel with a smile.
“Gabriel, you need to calm down.”
“I'm fine!”
He snapped angrily. Molly pressed her lips together looking down at her lap.
“Gabriel you don't have to take care of me. I can handle this...”
“I'm supposed to take care of you!”
He snapped again. Molly decided talking at this point was not a good idea. Gabriel remained continued to stew for a moment longer before glancing over at Molly. The gloomy expression on her face made him freeze in his tracks. From the moment that Molly had wondered into the bunker the last thing that Gabriel wanted was to be the reason behind any displeasure that may affect her.
With a sigh, Gabriel stood up and watched her for a few moments. Molly didn't even more to look at him. Instead her hands remained folded on her lap. The expression on her face was almost painful for him to look at. Something told Gabriel this was what her life consisted of...people snapping at her for no apparent reason other then to be yelling at someone. She didn't deserve the venom that he had tossed at her. Even if it was just a vocalization of discomfort, which Gabriel had plenty to share, Molly didn't deserve it.
“Molly?”
“Yes?”
She replied softly, again not looking up. Gabriel ran a hand over his face. As exhausted as he was there was no way that he could let this rip some big hole in between them. He was supposed to take care of Molly. That was his job as a soul mate. Molly would have to accept that in time. She hadn't even started to see how protective he could be.
“Sugar come here.”
Molly looked up a moment before standing up. Gabriel reached out wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Sugar I am really sorry about that. I shouldn't have yelled at you.”
Molly shook her head.
“Its fine.”
“No it isn't. You don't deserve to be yelled at. That creep in the living room deserves to be yelled at. Come to think of it I'll be right back!”
Molly reached out grabbing Gabriel by the front of his shirt.
“Before you go and reign heaven's fury down on Balthazar I want something.”
Gabriel looked at her quizzically.
“And that is?”
“I want you to kiss me.”
Gabriel's quizzical expression went to one of amusement as he pulled Molly back in his arms.
“You don't have to ask for that.”
Molly closed her eyes as Gabriel's lips touched hers. This was the moment that she had been secretly dreaming about. It seemed that making a move on Gabriel while he was in his own world seemed a bit of a crappy thing to do. Molly had mentally giggled at the idea of her making a move on him then would have been like someone making a move on Rick from The Walking Dead when his wife had died.
“Now sugar, don't compare me to that show.”
Gabriel muttered against her lips. Molly could feel him smiling into the kiss before he started talking again.
“I'm not wondering around seeing ghost people.”
Molly reached up cupping his cheek.
“Thank god. There are some things I don't think I could fix.”
Meanwhile in the living room....
Sam and Dean sat watching Balthazar, who was acting as though nothing out of the ordinary happened. For all they knew Balthazar could have a half a million kids out there somewhere and this was just another day in his life.
“So Gabriel isn't at full capacity?”
Balthazar questioned. Sam nodded.
“It appears that way.”
Balthazar looked thoughtful.
“So Molly is his body guard?”
Dean rolled his eyes.
“She's takes care of him. Better than anyone else could. When Gabriel gets himself straightened out he will take care of her the way that he is supposed to. In the mean time, Molly can kick ass for him.”
Balthazar was quiet a moment longer. He was still trying his best to accept the fact he had a daughter. Never in his life time did he plan on this! He knew the way that he handled their meeting wasn't the best at all. Maybe he could get to know Molly? Maybe having a nephilim child wouldn't be so bad?
He looked up again at the Winchester's taking in their casual appearances.
“So how long have you had the girl here?”
Sam looked up coldly. Cas, who had been pacing in the corner cut him off before he could get anything out.
“Her name is Molly and she is a part of our family.”
Cas grumbled. Balthazar raised an eyebrow.
“Sorry there Cas. Didn't realize I struck a nerve.”
Dean leaned back casually on the couch and took a sip of his beer before speaking.
“Well what did you expect dick wad? You better be glad that Gabriel isn't in here kicking your face in. I'm kind of curious to see what he can do right now anyway. Hey Sammy go grab him.”
Balthazar looked horrified.
“Don't go bringing that unhinged archangel in here!”
“Unhinged archangel, huh?”
Everyone turned around to see Gabriel standing in the door way with his arms crossed over his chest. Balthazar's vessel went pale. Sam and Dean didn't know know whether to chuckle or be worried. On one hand it would be amusing to see Gabriel kick Balthazar's ass. On the other hand however, just what could Gabriel do? After he had been wondering about the bunker in a silent state; Sam and Dean had no idea just how powerful he was at the moment.
Dean fought the urge to laugh. He edged over to Sam who was looking slightly nervous.
“Well it looks like he is talking again.”
Sam was looking awkwardly between Gabriel and Balthazar.
“Sure looks like it and he doesn't sound too happy.”
Dean glanced back to Molly, who was standing behind Gabriel. Her expression showed the same feelings that Sam and Dean were having. Balthazar meanwhile, appeared to be as shocked as everyone else in the room.
“So you're talking now? What did she do go in there and play with you?”
Gabriel smirked.
“How about none of your damn business?! My suggestion to you Balthazar is to get lost or I'll show you an unhinged archangel. You disrespected Molly and I'm not putting up with it.”
Balthazar looked blinked a few times.
“Are you using your rank on me Gabriel?”
Gabriel tilted his head to the side and smiled coldy.
“You bet I am.”
Balthazar nodded before looking around Gabriel's shoulder at Molly.
“Darling, if you don't mind, can I talk to you alone?”
Molly didn't have to look at Gabriel to know that he wasn't liking the idea one bit. Hell, she didn't like the idea! What if Balthazar took this as an opportunity to find some way to kill her? Part of Molly seemed to know that he wasn't that psycho but she wasn't ready to fully trust him him.
“I'm sorry. Now isn't a good time.”
Molly replied calmly. Balthazar frowned again.
“Gabriel can survive without you for a moment. He's been just fine for millions of years...well almost just fine. This last little bit is debatable.”
Molly's blue eyes looked if possible more angry!
“Its not that I am afraid to leave him. I'm afraid to trust you. You've ignored me for 26 years. Families don't do that to each other. I don't care if you didn't know about me or not. You should have had a feeling or something then you waltz in here acting like its no big deal.”
Balthazar shrugged.
“I offered to get you a pony.”
Gabriel scoffed.
“You honestly think a pony is proper payment for the hell you have caused her?”
Balthazar sighed.
“I'm an asshole! There are you happy Gabriel?! I admitted it!
Gabriel rolled his eyes.
“I'm fucking ecstatic.”
Molly stepped in, clearly having enough. She put her hand on the small of Gabriel's back hoping to get him to calm down before something bad happened.
“Okay, this is enough for tonight. Balthazar if I want to talk to you I'll let you know. Right now, I don't want anything from you. Gabriel, come on.”
Molly turned walking back to the bedroom. Gabriel turned giving Balthazar another expression that just oozed “shame on you” before turning following his lover down the hall.
The room was silent for a moment until Dean clasped his hands together.
“Well this has been a fun night!”

Pharmaceutical Anti-counterfeiting Technologies Market Trends Research And Projections For 2018-2026

Pharmaceutical products are one of the most vulnerable goods for counterfeiting practices worldwide. Counterfeiting practices involve substitution of original medicine with substandard drug containing toxic substance or no active ingredient at all. Anti-counterfeiting technologies are applied to nullify adverse impact on health of patients, which may lead to death of patient in extreme cases. Pharmaceutical industry has one of the highly complex supply chain management network, which makes it relatively difficult to track products from end to end platform, thereby increasing demand for counterfeiting practice. Unlike other products in which counterfeiting practices could be identified with visual appearance of the product by the end user, pharmaceutical products could not be identified for their spurious content by the end user or other stake holder. Moreover, various patented products of high price are counterfeited with spurious content to gain high profit. Anti-counterfeiting technologies consist of different types such as track and trace technologies, cohort technologies, overt technologies, and forensic technologies. Drugs that are commonly counterfeited include birth control drugs, anti-malarial, and other lifesaving drugs. Although there is a rapid change in technology landscape such as availability of smartphones, burden of anti-counterfeiting practices are increasingly shared by the end users.

Market Dynamics
Pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technologies market is majorly driven by the increasing incidence of counterfeiting medicines affecting patient health and overall human capital. According to the International Trade Administration Top Market Reports on Pharmaceuticals published in 2016, the global market for counterfeit drugs valued at number of US$ 75 - 200 billion, which is a serious threat to the health of people worldwide. In 2017, the Pharmaceutical Security Institute (PSI) report stated a rise in drug diversion incidents around the world, which includes diversion of medicines supplied for compassionate use. Moreover, serious health incidence or eventual death due to the consumption of counterfeit drugs are major factors increasing the demand for anti-counterfeiting technologies, which would propel growth of pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technologies market. According to the estimate by the International Criminal Police Organization, (Interpol) counterfeit drugs causes more than 1 million death every year. Increasing intervention by government and other health authorities such as WHO, OECD, and Interpol to tackle the problem of counterfeit drugs is also expected to drive growth of pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technologies market size over the forecast period.
For instance, the European Union launched EU Falsified Medicines Directive to control the volume of counterfeit drugs. Launch of new and innovative platforms in anti-counterfeiting technologies is another major factor driving growth of the market, as it results in more resilient technology at lower cost and provides high protection to the medicines. For instance, in 2017, Clariant introduced Plastiward system, which uses covert taggants developed by SICPA SA to supply an integrated plastic-based anti-counterfeiting technology that can be used in pharmaceutical packaging. They applied DNA technologies to develop signature molecular tracking system, which can be used in the tracking and tracing of legal cannabis for medical use. Other emerging technologies such as DNA based technology and intelligent packaging (printed electronics, micro sensors, Iot) would be commercialized in the near future.
Regional Insights
On the basis of region, the global pharmaceutical anti-counterfeiting technologies market is segmented into North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa. North America holds a dominant position in the market due to rising number of counterfeit drugs and stringent regulations related to counterfeit drugs. It is observed that the FDA seized nearly US$ 73 million in counterfeit drugs in the year 2014. Moreover, the opioid addiction has led to increased levels of counterfeit opioids such as fentanyl. The U.S. enacted legislations such as the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) in 2017 that mandates pharmaceutical manufacturers to identify pharmaceuticals at the unit package level, in order to trace the product within the supply chain. This is done to prevent pharmaceutical product counterfeiting. Moreover, Asia Pacific is expected to witness significant growth in the market over the forecast period due to the maximum number of counterfeit drugs available in this region. According to The World Health Organization (WHO) fact sheet 2017, around 1 in 10 medical products used in low- and middle-income economies are either substandard or falsified and up to 30 per cent of branded drugs sold in these economies are counterfeit. According to the Pharmaceutical Security Institute in 2017, maximum arrest (51%) cases in association with the counterfeiting of pharmaceuticals are observed in Asia Pacific.

Heroes
Bruce Wayne x Reader
word count: 588
warnings: none
author’s note: this was requested by @hypno-bear-tini (dunno why the tag isn’t working), based on the song Hero by Miguel. Enjoy!
It was 3:30am by the time Y/N began packing up to go home- her third attempt for the night. A code blue was called for one of her patients recovering from a hip replacement just as she finished up her paperwork for the night, crushing any hopes of leaving work on time. An hour and a half later, a dozen patients were carted in after a fight broke out at The Iceburg Lounge. With a full house, Y/N and several other nurses were shifted around help manage the overflow. After several renditions of how Batman saved the day while she cleaned cuts and gathered insurance information, Y/N was finally free to leave.
Two metro stops and a short cab ride later, Y/N was dragging her feet through the threshold of Wayne Manor. Dropping her backpack at the foot of the grand staircase, she took a moment to rest her aching feet. The time it took to get from the front door to the master bedroom was less than a minute. After working what ended up being a fifteen-hour shift, though, the act of walking up the grand staircase mimicked that of a trek up Mount Everest.
Y/N could hear her husband stepping out of the hidden elevator in the study, no doubt just coming home from his night job. She took a seat at the base of the stairs, pulling her knees up to her chin and leaning down, resting her forehead against them. Stray hairs that escaped the loose ponytail fell creating a dark curtain around her face.
As Bruce made his way through the moonlit manor, he could hear the soft snores of his wife echo through halls. He couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle at the sight of Y/N slumped over on the stairs, fast asleep. Ignoring the ache in his knees, Bruce bent down and gently scooped his wife into his arms. No longer asleep, but not quite awake, Y/N wrapped her legs around Bruce’s waist and hooked her arms around his neck. She nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck as his throat vibrate with laughter.
“Long night?”
“Just got home,” Y/N mumbled into him. “Code blue and then a scuffle at Iceburg Lounge.”
Bruce made it to the top of the steps and turned left, “Heard Batman made a guest appearance.”
“Gotham’s great hero.” Pride for her husband radiated off Y/N’s tired body. Just seconds later, she felt the warmth of blankets engulf her body.
Soft snores soon filled the room as Bruce changed out of his street clothes. He showered quickly, rinsing away the memories of the evening, before stepping into a pair of sweats and returning to the bedroom. He couldn’t help but smile as he watched his wife sleep. While he roamed the streets dressed as a bat, she was the one really putting in the hard work- no mask, no suit, no cape, no weapon. She had the power of love that made her a hero.
She caught him when he fell, picking up whatever pieces were left. She answered every call, no questions asked. Bruce felt his chest swell with pride as he watched Y/N sleep so peacefully. He ran a gentle hand through her hair before pulling her into his chest. She shifted in his grip, once again nuzzling into him. Bruce wrapped an arm around her, rubbing small circles into her back with calloused fingers.
He mumbled into her forehead as he peppered it with kisses before allowing himself to join her in slumber, “My great hero.”
