after a consistent two or so months of nothing but nonstop schedules and various public appearances, a vacation is precisely what danielle needed. she would’ve gone anywhere if it meant she could kiss the cold korean winter goodbye, but a destination like the maldives felt like it was chosen just for her. its sandy beaches and crystal clear waters reminded her of home, and the longer they stayed, the less she’d want to leave.

even though it had only been a few days since they first arrived, she had already developed a bit of a routine. her days started at six o’clock, seated on the edge of the villa’s sundeck with dangling toes just barely skimming the ocean’s surface. it was rare to see any other signs of life apart from the island’s native critters so early in the day, but that didn’t bother her much. the quiet was kind of nice, actually. with her face turned towards the rising sun, danielle savored the way it warmed her vitamin d deprived skin and wondered briefly if it might’ve been snowing back in seoul.

she could’ve stayed exactly as she was for hours, disrupted only by the sound of what she imagined to be a door opening and closing in the distance. lifting a hand, she held it flat against her brow to shield her eyes from the sun and looked off towards the sound. “good morning, neighbor!” she called out to the guest residing just a few villas down, using her other had to send off a small wave.

Trip to Paradise…….

Introduction 

Maldives is one of the most popular or known islands in the world, because of its beauty, weather, and its heavenly paradise view. I personally wanted to go to Maldives ever since I heard about it when I was 12 years, so I decided to spend my summer vacation in Maldives. When I asked people more about Maldives they all replied with the same answer…“ don’t stay too long, you’ll get bored eventually”, when I heard that I was perplexed, and shocked at the same time. So I dug a little more to Maldives by reading blogs online and watching videos of vloggers. Until I booked a flight and two different resorts for a month…

Experiences

So after we landed in the city of Maldives the resort took us with a water plane from the airport to the resort, since there is no roads only water! The first 2 week was in a resort called “Coco Bodu Hithi”. Don’t get me started on this resort, it was for sure one of the MOST amazing resorts/hotels I have been in, the villa was great, the island was magnificant. I would recommend this resort for families only, and it is more suitable for children, it isn’t a place for romantic couples to go on their honeymoon. But the resort didn’t have enough fun activities. The weather on the other hand wasn’t really what I expected it to be. I expected the place to be hotter and more sunny, but it was cloudy, windy, and rainy, so it wasn’t the perfect time for a tan. But the weather is something that I wouldn’t experience in Dubai. I got a bored in this resort because you would just do the same thing over and over, they didn’t have much fun activities.

Then we headed off to our next island by a speed boat, in my opinion the water plane was better, I got sea sick and dizzy after the speed boat ride which wasn’t a pleasant experience. The second  resort was Jumeriah Vitelli, we booked the “water villa” for both resorts however this resorts villa is THE BEST, it was a two floor villa with a slide on the second floor that directly goes to the ocean and the weather eventually got better and became more sunny. We stayed in this resort for the last 2 weeks, if you thought that I got bored and wanted to leave, you were wrong, we snorkeled with wonderful marine creatures everyday, we went scuba diving, banana boat, fun tube, parasailing, and we actually went in a submarine and saw breathtaking views underwater, that was a unforgettable experience. The most scary experience in this resort was definitely the parasailing. They would take you far away from the resort on a small boat and you would sit in the parasail and fly, it was a scary because the thought of you falling in water and getting stuck and not knowing how to escape is frightful. I would say this resort is for adventurous people that would love to try new things. 

Conclusion

Coming to an end, I really enjoyed Maldives, wether its was the food, activities, view, or even the weather! The sunset was mesmerizing, In my opinion It is worth the money and time. It is totally safe to travel alone, but I would suggest to travel in a group of friends for more fun and adventure,  Maldives is sure one of the best places that I visited so far.
