Steve was pacing back and forth in your kitchen as you watched from a barstool at the counter. You didn’t particularly care that Billy had taken nude photos of you; you had the idea first, after all. But apparently he had a whole lot to say about them in the local gym’s locker room – which you also didn’t really mind – but Steve certainly did.

“The way he talked about you, like you��re just some… some thing to fuck. God, I should have laid one on him right –”

“Steve!” you yelled, pulling him out of his murder spiral. He stopped pacing and looked at you, his hands untangling from his hair – the famous Harrington hair – and returning to his pockets. 

“What?” he questioned blankly.

“Look, you’re my best friend in the whole world, alright? And I appreciate that you care so much about me, but Billy and I… he’s as much of a toy for me as I am for him.”

Steve’s face scrunched up in disgust. “Okay, gross.”

You sighed, rolling your eyes. “All I’m trying to say is it’s not a big deal, alright? It really doesn’t bother me, so don’t let it bother you.”

“Don’t let it bother me? Don’t let it – I’m not going to let anyone – not even your,” he motioned vaguely with his hands, trying to think of the right word, “boy toy, Billy fucking Hargrove, talk about you like that. And you shouldn’t either, it’s dehumanizing.”

You chuckled as you slid off the barstool and walked over to him. You placed your hands on his cheeks – they were still cold from the outside chill of the November air; he had walked to your place as soon as he had left the gym – and smiled; your forearm against his chest picking up on his rapid heartbeat. “Steve, whatever Billy has said about me cannot possibly be more dehumanizing than anything he’s already done to me.”

Anger flashed over his face before he realized you meant sexually, making him jump back in horror, his features scrunching up in repulsion. “Great Y/N, thanks for that. I’ll be sleeping again, never.”

“Yeah, ‘cause you’ll be thinking about how badly you wish you were doin’ things to me instead of Billy,” you teased, sticking your tongue out at him. You liked to think that you and Steve’s flirtatious teasing was the backbone of your friendship. It was how you two met – Steve made a comment about your ass one day after you got partnered up in science class, something like, ‘I’m glad we’re sitting next to each other now, but the view from behind isn’t too bad either’, accompanied with his classic Harrington smirk – and when you shot back with something snarky instead of dropping to your knees in the middle of the classroom like most girls would have because let’s face it – he’s Steve fucking Harrington – he decided you were different, so he stuck around. Three years later and that dynamic was still going strong, even after high school.

Steve coughed, seemingly caught off guard by your comment. “Yeah, you wish,” he bit back – his usual response when he didn’t have anything better to say. “Still good for tonight?” 

“Yes, of course. Speaking of, I’m gonna be late for work,” you sighed, checking your watch and grabbing your purse off the kitchen counter. You gave Steve a quick kiss on the cheek and patted it, adding a, “Please don’t go looking for ways to kill Billy Hargrove when I’m gone.” 

He rolled his eyes. “Yeah, alright, whatever. But I don’t like him, Y/N.”

You chuckled. “Neither do I, but man, is he a good –”

“NO! Get out! Go to work!” Steve exclaimed, ushering you towards the front door. “Go, get.” He practically shoved you out the door as you laughed, shaking your head as he slammed it shut behind you. 

“Such a prude, Harrington,” you said to no one but yourself as you made your way to your car.

Seamen and Cockles: Theory of a Tinhat

I’ve got a real tinhattish theory where Jensen and Misha and even J2M will do this thing where they have two conversations at once. There is the literal face-value one that us fans hear and understand and then there is this subtextual wink-wink nudge-nudge one that only they pick up on. I’m not so crazy that I think they’re sending us any secret hidden messages or anything. I think they’re doing what close friends or partners do when they want to get out of a sticky, uncomfortable situation or say rude, dirty things in someone else’s presence. It’s like how best friends have a secret language with silly shorthand code words and references and inside jokes that only they get. And since I think that cockles and J2M are close friends, I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility to think that they too might have these layered conversations that perhaps occasionally might take place on stage with fans present. 

I mean I guess it’s not a revolutionary concept considering they talk about or hint at sex all the time. Just a few weeks ago in Chicago Jensen was asked about the mechanical bull in “Regarding Dean”. It turns out that scene was filmed at an actual bar called Roosters so naturally they turned it into riding cocks and Jensen’s rooster. But these kind of innuendos that most of the audience are in on, is not what I’m talking about. 

I’m talking about the ones that are meant just for them. For example at SDCC in 2017, there was that favorite roadtrip snack question at the CW livestream implying that Jensen likes to give roadhead so Jard wrote COCK on the dry erase board. Then at the actual panel itself there was Jensen’s favorite prop being the angel blade and Dean being Misha’s favorite prop suggesting that they like playing with each other’s *ahem* props. Of course there is no way of knowing for sure if that was their intention, but they were flirting with each other dammit! JIB 8 might be a not so subtle example of this as well but who knows what that was.  

Yeah so I’m not sure if that whole preamble was necessary because I don’t think it’s hard to believe good friends like Misha, Jensen, and Jard would occasionally throw in inside jokes or jabs into their panels for their own amusement. Anyways, there is something that happened at Paleyfest this past year that I think reinforces this idea that they do in fact have these subtextual conversations (that often revolve around sex) that are actually really revealing. In this case it was the re-occurrence of oil rigs and Misha spending time on them to hone his Big Empty Cas accent. It became a sexual thing in Hawaii until Misha brought it up at Paleyfest again when it wasn’t quite as overt in its sexual overtones. But I think it was. But I’m gross. In my opinion, I think it was because it might not only have alluded to Jensen’s (and Misha’s) accent kink, but I think it alluded to anal sex. Get it? The oil rig is a penis? It drills and pumps and spews? Anyways, I thought that that was the imagery they possibly could have privately been going for. 

So with this whole possibility in mind, I want to bring your attention to something that Jensen whispered to Misha under his breath at Paleyfest right after Misha brings up his time on the oil rigs.

wtf did he say?! I originally heard something like “you’re still seeping down some of me”, but someone I respect, who is much more level-headed about these things than me, heard “you’re still seeking counseling”. And like with the laurel and yanni thing, that became all I could hear. But his lip movements don’t match the sounds for “counseling”. You can see he uses both his top and bottom lips in the last syllable (even though he is trying to be sneaky about it). I have a cursory knowledge of the IPA so I apologize to any real IPA, language enthusiasts, linguists, actors, or lip reading experts and students with greater/better knowledge than I. I am going off of a semester of dialects in college so this info is real rusty and basic and most likely wrong. So here ya go! There are a few sounds in the english language that require both top and bottom lip involvement. They are the B, M, and P sounds. So umm...out of those three sounds, I’m going with the M sound, which means, that I think the last two syllables he says make up the word SEMEN because I think you can hear the S sound pretty clearly. 

I can’t make out the middle part though that describes what Misha is doing with the semen! And maybe I’m wrong with semen too because I can still hear counseling sometimes. But this is what I got:
