What is CMA USA?

CMA USA is a professional credential where CMA stands for Certified Management Accountant. It is the most prestigious certification for people who want to pursue management accountancy and professionalism in finance. The Institute of Management Accountants, which is also known as IMA, awards this certification to the deserving candidates. IMA is present in more than 140 countries around the world, and there are training programs available to help students clear their exam. But preparation for the exam needs dedication and smart study. The CMA USA exam has two papers that cover 12 different areas.

The first paper is for financial planning, performance and analytical skills. This paper deals with planning budgets, forecasting, cost and performance management, technological and analytical problems. The second paper is for management of strategic finances. This paper deals with the analysis of financial statements, corporate finance, review of decisions, management of risks and decisions related to investments. The duration of the course at IMA-US is six months. There are scopes to study at the IMA in India too. But in India, the length of the course is 3 to 4 years.  

What is CMA USA scholarship?

The course fees for CMA USA are not very cheap. Fees for paper one is around 28,000 INR or 415 USD. And for paper two is again 28,000 INR or 415 USD. The entrance fees and membership fees is18,000 INR (250 USD) and 17,000 INR (245 USD) respectively. Moreover, the approximate expenditure for pursuing CMA USA is around 90k-100k in terms of INR. The CMA USA scholarship is for students with merit and students who need financial help. The students who deserve it receive the scholarship.

This scholarship has tons of advantages. It covers the entire entrance exam fee. Students get a chance to have a look at the previous years' question papers. The scholarship also covers the registration fees for both the papers. But the students need to pay additional charges if they wish to retake the exam. Scholarship pattern and its screening process

To apply for the CMA USA scholarship, the student needs to submit the nomination form with the required documents and information. The CMA USA Education Foundation Board of Directors review every form and they shortlist the students who deserve the scholarship. They base this decision on the academic achievements of a student, the quality of their essay, and how well they demonstrated their interest in that industry.

The entire procedure is very precise, and they shortlist the students who have real merit. The scholarship money amount ranges accordingly. The maximum can go up to 10000$, and that money is paid directly to the respective schools of the students. There are three types of scholarship exams that we know of at present. The first is the exam scholarship program that CMA conducts. This program is for the current students, and the professors can nominate them. The second is the CMA doctoral scholarship program. This program is for the students who are specializing in management accounting and management of financial cases. Both students from the US or any other country can sign up for this program. This scholarship covers the CMA entrance exam fees, membership fees and course exam fees for the first time.

The third scholarship program is the CMA USA exam academy scholarship. It is not confirmed yet if this scholarship is still in action. But current students can sign up for this. Students from the US or who are legal citizens of the US can apply to this program. The selected students usually receive a scholarship of $500.

There are various other scholarship programs by the IMA. But those are mostly for doctoral research.

Why IMA conducts CMA USA scholarship programs?

With every passing year, the curriculum for the students is getting tougher. But the priority of studies in the life of students is increasing. Eligibility of scholarship and process of registration

The IMA introduced this scholarship program to honour the top students by encouraging them to study at a lower expenditure. When the nominee joins the IMA, they activate the scholarship program at that point. The student will have one year to register for the CMA program after they receive the scholarship. And they will get three years to complete the entire plan.

The top 5% or the top 5 students, who are pursuing an accredited undergraduate accounting or business program, are eligible for the scholarship program. Similarly, the top 5% or the top 5 students are eligible for the scholarship program who are pursuing an accredited Masters level accounting or business program. Accredited means their university or college should have official recognition.

A student cannot nominate themselves for the CMA USA scholarship program. Only the faculty of their college or university can. Students in both US and international accounting programs can apply. Students pursuing Undergraduate programs need to complete their third year of the program. Only then the faculty can put their name forward as the nominee. They award the selected students with a certificate attesting to their selection. IMA expects that the school or university will award the scholarship to their students at the annual e program.

The faculty needs to submit the nominee application form by the given deadline. IMA always reveals the dates online and their application form. It is essential to check these dates and download their application form as soon as it is available. There should be separate forms for separate programs. You must pass at least 50% of the first (i.e. multiple choice) section in order to advance to the essay questions. You can use any time remaining from the multiple choice questions towards the essay portion.
