Hello — thank you so much for your fic recommendations! I very much look forward to your posts. I hope you don’t mind, but I have a quick question: do you know what has happened to ‘From Me to You’ by Ceta? I read it recently — maybe this 4-6 weeks ago? — and now it seems to be hidden or unavailable on Ao3. I really appreciate your help!

Oh no, I hate it when that happens.  I’m no familiar with that story, but certainly works come and go for many reasons.  Actually, I’ve started downloading PDFs of the works I rec, ‘cause it seems to happen at a higher rate in this fandom (I’ve got a huge backlog to get through).

Does anyone else know what happened?

ETA:  @candicewright (who is on fire today) replied:  I was actually wondering what fic that I had bookmarked had been hidden, and I'm sad to hear it's this one. It appears as a mystery work in a collection called 'holding cell'. I have the link to the fic but I can't find it on wayback machine. That's all I could find, unfortunately :'( 

The good news is that, in my experience, authors who put their story under Mystery Works are much more likely to reveal it again after... whatever reason they went private is resolved.  It’s happened twice in this fandom that I’ve noticed.  So at least the work is still there.

Here’s a reminder to readers:  PLEASE don’t nitpick or ‘gently correct/educate’ or shame authors over their works.  Even when you think you’re being nice about whatever cultural aspect or naming convention or whatever-the-thing you believe they got wrong it’s... just not your business.  People write for all kinds of different reasons, and we all suffer when an author feels too hurt or shamed or angry to share their work because the public is on their ass.  I’m a mother, and I say this as often as my own mother did:  If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.
