A bit of catching up on posts. This is from 6-19-23 at MKR. I didn't keep good notes for this trip. I think the top water bite was slowing by this point in the summer. It was getting fairly warm. I caught one on a chart/white clouser near a large limb that had fallen in the water. The limb had been in the water for about 2 weeks. It broke off during a big hail storm. It was removed from the water a day or two after this trip.

When tying a bunch of the same style fly (here a clouser minnow) I like to stage the ties. First tie the dumbbell eyes and body then coat with cement. When dry, add the buck tail / flash and coat the heads with cement. One more of the Trapped Clouser patterns I tied up this morning on the 3/0 @trappertackle 30deg jig hook. The unique hook bend lets you hide the biggest rattle you want. the only draw back would be you need at least a medium lead eye to keep that hook upright. I don’t tie these to be light flies anyways so it’s really not a minus to me. S T R A N G E 🌀D A Y S • • • Originally, I had not planned on sharing this photo...I’ve been sitting on it for a while. This was the day a mullet ate my chartreuse and white clouser minnow. It was just too weird...I didn’t think these things would go for a fly, let alone a 4”streamer. I went one for three on these powerhouse pullers.
