at first i was kinda excited because i couuuuld say this was another murder thing, and then when i saw Cloudstalk listed without being mentioned i was like ??? DID CLOUDSTALK (the medicine cat) MURDER THEM??? but then i remembered Cloudstalk is Beetledawn's adoptive parent so thats probably why lol

still, Beetledawn is the Gray Sibs' older sibling by 5 moons so they were apprentices together and i think they were all very close together and this is sad :( it's sad now :(

Cookbook

My players and I have had a lot of fun experimenting with recipes using the various foods I’ve put in the game, even going into full on sessions that are simply just, well, cooking sessions. Which in normal D&D you just wouldn’t expect that to be something to do. Done right, these sort of cooking sessions can make for good bonding moments, as well as prompt your players to plan ahead!

KNOWN DISHES

Adin-Miso Koidan on Black Flatbread: A savory yet sweet filet of Armored Koidan fish which has been marinated in miso, mirin, and adin nectar. Pan-fried and served on Black Flatbread, which due to being made from black shell crackers and hardnuts, adds an earthy, nutty layer to the meal, helping cut back on the richness of the fish.

+2 Hit Die HP and DR2 on Radiant Damage until next short or long rest.

Sweet Spiced Stone Fruit Hand Pie

a fine pie with a crunchy crust and an aromatic filling.

This item may be eaten as a bonus action to gain either Radiant DR 3, or burn hit die as a short rest.

Candied Flower Buns:

Pleasant buns made with diced candied flowers. Grants a bonus save against a confusion effect.

They may be consumed as a bonus action to gain this effect, or to burn hit die as a short rest.

Siva's Savory Pudding with Gravy:

Grants the +2 Hit Die, as well as Regen 2 for 6 rounds

Charred Seafood Stew: A thick and rich stew made from char cooked fish or shellfish

restores +2 hit die.

Honeyed Karukan:

A light and spongey rice cake from the Hino Region, often coated with a honey glaze.

This treat can be eaten as a bonus action to restore +2 Hit die and burn hit die  to recover hit points.

Made from Flood Plain Rice, Western Reed Honeycomb, and Goldroot (and optionally fruits or nuts).

Shiroi Island Cookies: A western style cookie that is going to be manufactured in The Vale, a sandwich style cookie made from rice, millet, honeycomb and cocoa, cut into squares. The honeycomb is melted and combined with cocoa to form a light brown filling between two crumbly cookies.

This treat can be eaten as a bonus action to restore +2 hit die or burn hit die to regain health.

KNOWN INGREDIENTS

Yellow Dawn Cradle- a pale mushroom that grows on the sides of the ancient buildings of the city, sunlight turns the tops of the mushrooms a dark yellow color. Mildly toxic but easily rendered safe through Char cooking, this is an excellent alternative to meat in some dishes that can easily survive long additional cook times. Properly prepared this mushroom grants a +2 damage bonus to Acid or Radiant damage.

Oxyl are large land mammals with horns and peg-like teeth for rummaging through plant life or devouring injured or dead prey, their powerful tails and horns are a strong deterrent against predators and trespassers in its territories.

Oxyl tail- a tough cut of meat that when Clay cooked provides a bonus to Regen effects, increasing the duration.

Oxyl steaks- a rich cut of meat that naturally Restores +1 hit die in addition to one other effect (for example Restore +1 hit die and grant Radiant DR 1).

Oxyl Cheese Curds- a fairly sharp tasting snack that can be eaten on its own to restore 1 hit die or spend hit die to regain health

Oxyl Marrow Bone- a hearty treat that can instantly improve the DR bonus of a small or large meal (Radiant DR 1 becomes Radiant DR 3).

Moss Ground Choy- a tough leafy green that grows in damp or mossy earth in the shade of trees.

This green grants Regen 2 for 3 rounds.

Goldroot- a dense, soft root with a flaky skin. Peeled and Crushed this root allows for a dish to have multiple effects. (for example a dish can now have Fire DR 1 and Restore 1 Hit Die.)

Valley Sun Root- grown in the arid ground of the Dust Districts this root is naturally bitter and toxic while raw, growing more potent when cut or peeled. When Char cooked first, then peeled, this root becomes much more palatable and safe for cooking.

Valley Sun Root grants Regen 2 for 4 rounds when properly prepared.

Cut and twice Charred this root can be eaten as a bonus action to gain Regen 3 for 2 rounds, or burn hit die as a short rest.

Black Shell Crackers- a staple for Underdark travelers, these crackers have a pungent, earthy smell and a potent umami flavor. These crackers can be consumed as a bonus action to grant one additional save against a poison effect (this lasts until their next short or long rest, or until they choose to use it), or allow the user to burn hit die as a short rest.

Mirin- a simple sweet rice wine often used as the base for various foods and cocktails. When combined with other ingredients, it increases their elemental properties by +1 (Fire damage +1 becomes +2). This drink can be consumed as a bonus action to burn hit die as a short rest

Cloudstalk- a relative of riverstalk that tastes similar to a green, able to improve ingredients that grant saves by One step.

Beless's miso paste- grants a free save against Intimidation , Cloudstalk upgrades it to provide a save againat intimidation or confusion.

Koidan Fillet- a tough and rich meat, granting a bonus to Regen and Damage Reduction effects (so for example if you add an ingredient that gives Fire DR 2, it rises all the way to DR 4)

Adin Nectar-  collected from pale flower buds, this gummy extract is used as incense in temples and a sweet seasoning for food.

Foods prepared with this ingredient grant a Damage Reduction bonus against radiant damage.

Hardshell Nut- rust colored nuts from a large, tree-like shrub. Rich in iron and tough, roast then mill and mix with flour to make a Dark Brown Bread that grants Regen 2 for 5 rounds, or roast and then crush the roasted parts of the nut, adding to food to restore +1 hit die

Maire's Candied Flower Buds- these once pale pink flowers have turned dark over their preservation process, soft petals turned brittle with sugar. These flowers grant a bonus save against a confusion effect.

They may be consumed as a bonus action to gain this effect, or to burn hit die as a short rest.

Red Stone Fruit- a brilliant red fruit that grows in a reverse tear-drop shape. The pit of this fruit is naturally toxic and incredibly tough.

This fruit's sweet taste is incredibly potent, granting either Electricity DR 1 or Radiant DR 1.

Clay cooking it with other Radiant or Electric ingredients provides DR 3 against the chosen element.

Dragon Bone-shroom- A creamy white mushroom with black speckles that grows from the tough, hardened bones of dragons and other armored reptiles.

When char or clay cooked it grants DR 4 against fire.

Stone-Plate Mushroom- A tough and broad-headed mushroom with an almost stony surface.

When crushed and either char or clay cooked it restores +2 hit die.

Flood Plain Rice- a simple grain that when clay cooked restores 1 hit die.

char cooked with other ingredients restores 1 hit die + one other effect.

Crushed Grain Udon- these simple noodles made from flood plain rice and one other grain heal 1d8 hit points when clay or char cooked, or restores +1 hit die when clay cooked with other ingredients.

Giant's Goldenrod- a millet-like grain that grants regen 2 for 2 rounds (combine with plain rice to make udon)

High Runner Rabbit- a large, long legged rabbit native to the Highwood Regions and the borders of the Dust Districts.

High Runner Meat- meat carved from a fresh high runner- restores + 1 hit die

Roasted Runner Bones- bones that have been char cooked over a long period- clay cooking with other ingredients increases the hit die increase of other foods from +1 to +2.

Shade-leaf Cane- an allium like plant with wide grassy leaves with a reddish purple tint. This plant can be crushed and brewed to create a variety of simple sugars.

Shade Sugar- a pale red, sticky sugar similar to brown sugar. Restores +1 hit die

Shade-leaf Extract- a molasses like syrup the same shade as wine. Increases DR or Regen duration by +1.

Azu Beans- A small dark red bean with a strong and naturally sweet and earthy flavor. When crushed into a paste or powder it grants DR 1 against Radiant or Electric damage (chosen when cooking).

The Spined Long Fin- a blend of a big fin tuna, and a blow fish, with sharp peg-like teeth for catching fish, or anything unfortunate enough to fall in the water, whose poisonous spines fan out along its back.

Charring the outside of the Long Fin disables its paralyzing toxins.

Clay cooking with other ingredients grants regen 2 for 5 rounds

Char cooking a second time restores +1 hit die.

Tendril shrimp- Shrimp about the size of a small cat, their many tendrils used for finding and consuming food.

These creatures are Char Cooked alive in order to preserve their meat, granting a bonus to Fire, Electric, and Radiant damage boost effects.

Dart Shrimp- on the smaller end of creatures that live in the waters of the ruins, their needle like bodies perfect for scouring Armored Fish scraps. Against creatures larger than themselves, they are much more docile and even cowardly.

Char cooked these shrimp provide Regen 2 for 2 rounds, and can be eaten as a bonus action to gain the Regen, or to burn hit die and restore hit points.

Western Reed Honeycomb- A dark golden honeycomb gathered in the hills of the western territories, commonly featured in gnomish dishes.

Can be eaten as a bonus action to burn hit die and restore hit points.

When cooked into a small meal that restores Hit Dice, it increases the Hit Die by +1.

Are you sure it’s Peak who did it? You should check the code before banishing him to the dark forest forever.

this question is a little silly to me lol, like i for sure understand where you're coming from, but you have to remember that these are just randomized data in a game, y'know? it's more about the story i create and what I believe than whatever might actually be presented. in reality, it's likely that Peakstem didn't kill anyone outside of Anchovybuzz (even then, that's not technically confirmed) and the murders/missing cats were all just completely random chance

i like to theorize who the murderer might be and collect the pieces that are there rather than just pop open the game's data and have the answer! (also i dont know how to do that)

besides, its not technically forever. you can unbanish DF cats whenever you want unless you have fading on! which i dont lol

if all of the actual murderers come forward and confess like Fishmask did for Ferretpaw's murder, then maybe i'd reconsider his banishment, but, for now, he definitely killed those guys lol
