Also. I don’t know Kaeya very well- but he’s growing on me and I’m currently having a persistent thought about like. Something something the myth of Persephone. But specifically the parts of like, the journey, the caught between worlds, you cannot erase the specter looming over you. The grief of a parent, the love and the rage- bargaining to bring you back into the light. But even in green and lovely Mondstadt- one cannot forget Persephone will return come winter, that she’s part of the chthonic gods. Kaeya has lived there for years, a part of their lives but cannot forget or shed the mantle of his people, being their last hope. A spy, a figure reminded that the way all things are now will come to an end eventually. Then there’s the depictions of Khaenri’ah- specifically what comes to mind is what we see of it in the archon quest, a massive cavern underground, a place where things go to meet their end and rest, a ruined castle. And- idk. It just makes brain go brrrrr yknow? -☁️
That's... That's so cool dude! I can see it omg.
That like, legit, could make a bomb ass fic tbh.
It's especially fun since Kaeya is already sort of associated with Changelings and Faes so Persephone fits so freaking well!
(Tw: mentions of eugenics/anti-disability prejudice (?))
For those who don't know, Changelings are a myth in Celtic mythology where faes switch a child with one of their own. You can recognize a changeling because the child does not grow right, such as having uncanny intelligence, being sickly and small or through displaying odd behaviors while alone. Unfortunately this was a myth used against children with disabilities or mental health problems, since they would label the child as a changeling and... Well, dispose of the child.
And yeah, that's one of the reasons I characterize Kaeya the way I do. Also the trauma, but the changeling thing does exist. )
Either way, such a fun au ☁️anon.
