The Streetkid
Pepe: Everything chill, hermana? V: Some bastard tried to mug me. I handled it. Pepe: Who? Local guy? V: You really think some local'd try to mug me, Pepe?
After I took a break in February and played Horizon Zero Dawn, I felt the need to start Cyberpunk 2077 up once more with my disaster bisexual streetkid. I wanted to play through the story fully, and not get distracted by photomode like I have all the other playthrus I started since I first bootcamped my MBP.
To that end, I am only playing with clothing replacers, which is highly ironic given the recent wealth of ArchiveXL mods. But creativity within restraint is something I always enjoy, and dressing Val this playthru has indeed been fun. It's made me go out of my way to shop for clothing, and check back with vendors whenever I'm nearby because I might finally stumble upon Mel's green plunge dress.
Also I have been thinking about Val in context of this AU (versus what I consider her canon, the Into My Arms series) and how she will call Rogue from the rooftop instead of Panam, and then contrasting that with Corpo Val and how she goes it alone with Johnny, and it gave me some good insight into their respective personalities.
To some extent Streetkid Val is used to relying on others—her cousin Mark, then Emma and her gang, then 6th Street and Atlanta and Jackie, of course—while Corpo Val grew up in the cold, distrusting corpo world. She had a few real friends but they were scarce so she learned to rely on herself most of all.
And a couple more, just because I can:

10.48. Listening to Beyonce Texas Hold ‘em. Upstairs in my room, about to go to bed.
I have been listening to this Beyonce song on repeat over and over and ovveerrrrr. I hope Beyonce breaks country records. Bloop. As she should. Today was such an adventurous Gøod day. I got up pretty early even though I barely slept last night. I had some kenyan sausages (iykyk) and tea. Then I was chillin’ reading my book, chatting with SweSwe, her sister Karimi and another elder Moka wa Mwiti. Kendi was sent to buy free range chickens, so I decided to tag along. This is where things got spicey because fun fact: I am scared of chickens. Like they just look/act alien to me and I don’t ever want to be near them. I eat them tings though, I just wonder why they didn’t go extinct. Also who saw such a funny looking creature and said… I bet this will be yumm. Same with Iguanas. I don’t fear those but like who decided that this ugly ass weird ass thing would be yumm. I got questions for these folx. Anyway, we went to buy chickens. We walked to Karen in like 30 degrees. Took a matatu to Ngong market, found the chicken vendor at the back and then Kendi proceeded to chat with the seller while I mostly watched this transaction. We had to wait for a bit so we were given a seat, not too far from the chicken coops/cages. Y’all…tell me why?!?!? Why?!? This chicken decided to splash me with shit. I almost passed out with disgust. I was so close to screaming. And we didn’t have tissue or kleenex so I had to just wipe with this old cloth he had which basically just smeared shit on me. BLACK JESUS… what is life? Anyway, it was worthy of a Gøod laugh for everyone involved. We left the chicken vendor and headed to wash my hair, I washed my hair for 2$ then we went to the grocery store for margarine, salt, bread. So the market is all non packaged things, the grocery store is for packaged things. Then we went to get our 10 chickens and lugged them back to the matatu. Honestly, Kendi carried it which is shocking bc she is quite tiny. I carried the other stuff. We got to Karen, took a motorbike and headed back to the house. First thing I did was shower dog. Like I was still so grossed out by the chicken poop. We also had some chips with kachumbari while at Ngong Market. More street food because, hello Nairobi. I had a smokie yesterday with kachumbari. Can you see a kachumbari trend already starting? Ok. Gøod. After I showered, we oiled my hair and I read a book Sobia gifted me for a bit. SweSwe asked me if I plan to read all day and night? LMAO, she used to ask me this same question as a pre-teen. Books and I go together real bad especially now that I have time. I wanna finish the last  season of Atlanta soon though then back to books. I had a conversation today on homophobia. Kenya is a hyper-christian nation so homophobia is insane. Anyway, I use the Bible to help hyper-christians with their homophobia. Judgement is mine said the Lord. Folx usually get it and from there I go on to Love and let Love. It was interesting to see folx get it and fall back. They were asking me about gay people in Canada. Once I saw they got it, I brought up colonization and that homosexuality is natural because it is everywhere, white people just lied to us, told us its a sin and now they judge us for homphobia. They did get it. I am learning that listening, tone, kindness, truth, honesty, time/patience really helps with clarity. Life is Gøod. Ase.

UPDATE
WF UPDATE (4/30/23).
At the time of my last post, we had completed 66% of a 27 day adventure that involved three distinct “special assignments.” Between Special Assignment #2 and Special Assignment #3, we took a 48 hour mini-vacation during the 16 hour drive.
We’ve now completed the whole trip and we’re home for a short stay. After getting home, I needed several days to tackle necessary chores. It’s now time for me to get back on the blogging bandwagon. People have been complaining.
Let me start with some stories about our mini-vacation. We were driving, in Freddy, from Long Island to a town just outside of Atlanta.
Our first stop to explore was in Christiansburg, Virginia. A free Virginia tourism pamphlet, which we grabbed at a truck stop, said that Christiansburg was a historic town. I was particularly interested in the fact that it was the location (in 1808) of the last duel in Virginia. That duel led to a law that banned dueling. Well, the stop was a total bust. There’s really nothing to see. There’s a small historical marker at the site of the duel. (Both men died.) Beware of information from free tourism pamphlets.
Virginia is a big state. A long time after Christiansburg, we were driving along a highway and we saw a strange looking structure in the middle of an empty field. It was a large, square, tower that looked very old. We decided to investigate. This stop was a “home run.”
The building, in Virginia, is the key feature of a park called Shot Tower Historic State Park. What the heck is a shot tower? We got the scoop, and a tour, from the park ranger. The little beads inside of shotgun shells are called shot. It’s not easy to melt metal and mold it into a little bead. A smart Virginian learned the trick in Europe. You build a tall tower and you melt lead at the top of the tower. Next, you pour the liquid lead through a big sieve and let the drops of lead fall into a big pot of water at the bottom of the tower. As the drops fall, they naturally mold themselves into a ball. At the end of the fall, the ball stays round because it is cushioned by the water and no flat spot develops. At this shot tower, built in 1807, the fall was 150 feet. The shot tower itself was 75 feet tall, and it sits over a pit that is 75 feet deep. It turns out that 150 feet is the perfect drop for making shot. This place made tons of shot every day. The shot was used all over the east coast. You learn something new every day.
The fun didn’t stop at the shot tower itself. The place adjoins a beautiful park called New River Trail State Park. From the shot tower, there’s a one mile trail along the New River to a little town called Foster Falls. We took the nice walk to the town and we viewed the falls. Overall, this was a very, very pleasant stop.
The oddity of our mini-vacation was in Georgia. Several times in the past, we’ve driven past a giant flea market that sits alongside I-85. We’ve never visited. It’s only open on weekends, and we’ve never been nearby on a weekend. This time we were passing on a Sunday, and we just had to take a look. What an experience! The place has been there since 1992. It has more than 700 selling spaces. If you walked through all the rows, you’d cover 2.5 miles. The place is swarming with people. It gets 25,000 visitors every weekend. The vendors sell absolutely everything. New stuff and used stuff. We saw clothing, hardware, bicycles, appliances, outdoor equipment, electronics, produce, plants, tires, groceries, spices, candy, seafood, and livestock. This place is a hoot, and the “people watching” is spectacular. It’s called La Vaquita Flea Market. It you’re anywhere near Pendergrass, GA on a weekend, you need to visit LVFM.
We’re only home for a few days before we hit the road again. We have two new “special assignments.” Before we leave, I’ll try to blog about some newsworthy items. Stay tuned.
