Okay emotional roller coaster! What are you doing to me!
Needless to say, LOVED IT!
Come Here Often? - Part 3
Third and final part. Hope you've enjoyed! Part 1 Part 2
Warnings: Brief descriptions of blood and injury, general canon violence, Commander Wolffe sass
--------------------------------------------------
The months after Umbara were hard for everyone. You learned that the blast from the fighter hadnât hit you full force because youâd been able to deflect some of it with your saber. But it did shatter four of your ribs on the left side, puncturing your lung. Youâd also taken quite a few pieces of shrapnel on your way down.
âYou nearly died,â Master Plo had told you before on one of the nights he had sat by your beside in the Healing Halls of the Temple, âThe clone medic saved your life. Thank the Force for him.â
Youâd reconciled with Fives, cried with Rex, and hung around with the rest of the 501st when the Wolfpack was sent on missions that you werenât ready to go on yet. It was true that in the weeks after you healed, youâd grown closer to the clone medic who saved your life. Youâd taken to bringing him caf when you knew he was working late and heâd likewise bring you food when you got too caught up in your work to remember to eat. He was easy to talk to and youâd given him your personal coms if he ever wanted to talk with you about anything. He gladly reciprocated the offer and the two of you occasionally messaged back and forth. You wondered if Master Plo suspected how you felt about Kix. It was hard to hide your growing feelings but you thought that you were doing a good job. You used an encrypted coms channel to communicate and were always careful to guard your thoughts.
So far the interactions between the two of you had simply been those of friendship but you secretly wanted more and wondered if Kix felt the same. But now it felt like you might never know.
Kixâs company had joined the 104th in a mission on Felucia to rescue a kidnapped senator. The light of your saber glowed brightly in contrast with the quickly darkening sky as you spun and cut down Separatist battle droids beside Master Plo and Commander Wolffe. You should have known that Count Dooku was behind it all, but you hadnât and now everything had gone to shit. Now, after rescuing the senator, you were forced to fight through enemy lines in order to reach the gunships waiting to pick you up. You glanced behind you at Kix who had stopped to help a fallen brother. He glanced up at you and nodded, an action that you took as saying âIâm ok, keep going.â Looking back, you wished you had stayed.
Finally, just when you thought you couldnât go on much longer, you saw the gunships appear in the distance. âOh thank the Force!â cried the senator. You silently agreed.
âY/n stay with Commander Wolffe and take care of the rest of those droids!â commanded, Master Plo.
âYes Master!â you replied. You ducked as a stray blaster bolt nearly took off your head. âWolffe on your left!â you shouted as another two B2 droids tried to flank him. He shot them down with ease, nodding in thanks. The two of you made quick work of the rest of the droids before stepping onto the gunship. You breathed a sigh of relief as you looked around but the feeling was short lived. Something was wrong.
âWait!â you froze, âWhereâs Kix?â
âHe was right behind me,â Sinker replied sadly, âthere was an explosion.â You felt your chest tighten. Master Plo regarded you with sympathy. He put a hand on your shoulder, âIâm sorry, little one.â
You shook your head. âNo! We have to go back!â
Commander Wolffe looked to General Plo for orders. Plo shook his head.
âI am sorry, y/n. If we stay any longer, the Separatist reinforcements will be here and I canât risk the senator being recaptured.â You felt like your whole world was about to come crashing down. You didnât care about hiding your emotions right now. âNo. He saved my life, and Iâm going to save his!â
âY/n,â Master Plo said in a warning tone, but you had already made up your mind.
âSend another ship back for me after you leave!â you yelled behind you as you jumped from the gunship, lightsaber in hand, determined to save your friend.
âY/n, no!â your master called. You didnât listen. He turned to Commander Wolffe and sighed. âFollow her,â he commanded, âI will send a ship for you when we return. Make sure you both are on it.â
Wolffe nodded curtly, âYes, General.â
You heard footsteps fast approaching behind you and you glanced back.
âWhat the kriff were you thinking!?â Wolffe growled, running up beside you. âYou disobeyed a direct order!â His words didnât have the usual bite to them but he was still angry. âWhy would you go back for him? Why risk everything for a clone?â You didnât answer him as you ran, scanning the battlefield frantically looking for Kix. You hoped to the Force that youâd find him kneeling by of his brothers. âCommander, look!â Wolffe shouted, âThere!â He pointed towards a patch of brush a few hundred yards away and a cold dread filled your chest. You ran fast and slid to your knees beside the motionless clone. It was Kix.
âNo no no,â you whispered to yourself, âplease donât be dead.â Wolffe knelt beside his fallen brother, âHeâs alive. Unconscious but alive.â
âThank you,â you told Wolffe softly. He clapped a hand on your shoulder.
âYouâre welcome, kid.â He sighed and shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose, âJust donât ever kriffing do that again.â
Wolffe carefully slung his unconscious brotherâs arm around his shoulders and grabbed onto his waist, lifting him from the ground with ease. âWeâd better make good time, Commander,â he warned you, âthose clanker reinforcements will be here any minute.â You nodded and lit up your lightsaber. The Commander shook his head and out of the corner of your eye you could have sworn you saw him smirk. He definitely suspected there was something going on but you had a feeling your secret would stay safe with him.
You got to the rendezvous point without any issues, only catching a few stray clankers which you and Commander Wolffe took care of with no problem at all. Wolffe lay Kix down on the floor of the gunship and sat back, giving you space to examine him. You werenât a medic by any means but both you and the commander had a fair knowledge of battlefield first aid. Kix looked like he had hit his head hard in the explosion. With a small light you checked his pupils for reaction and pulled a few small bacta patches from his medical bag to treat the scrapes on his head. Kix groaned as you affixed the patch and grabbed at your arm. His eyes fluttered open looking up at you. âKix!â you breathed in relief, âMaker, I thought you were kriffing dead!â He squeezed your hand and weakly grinned up at you, âYou come here often?â You laughed, shaking your head at the running joke between you. Wolffe got up rolling his eyes, âIâll be in the cockpit.â He paused before disappearing and smirked at Kix. âYouâre a lucky man, Vod.â
You looked down at Kix, not able to help the tears of relief sliding down your face. He reached up and brushed them away, âI sure am.â You leaned down, placing a kiss on his forehead and looked over towards the cockpit Wolffe had disappeared to. âYou know,â you said with a chuckle, âI think thatâs the first time Iâve ever seen him smile.â

The Clones reacting to you smushing their cheeks
Idk I had this idea and thought itâd be cute. Since the clones are supposed to have round cheeks, visualize live action and not animated đ
Warnings: none, just fluff.
Fives, Wrecker, Hardcase, & Tup: Loving it so much, will lean into your hands and give you heart eyes. Maybe even press a few kisses to your hand.
Cody, Jesse, Kix, Echo, Vaughn & Mayday: Will blush profusely and look side to side for a second, before giving in and flashing you a tiny smile.
Rex, Hunter, Tech, & Fox: Not sure what to do, just give an awkward smile and internally scream because they secretly find it super cute.
Crosshair, Wolffe & Dogma: Not understanding any of it. Donât know what youâre doing, not sure that they like it, 3/10 do not recommend.

The Bet
Pairing: Kix x fem!Reader / Kix x Nurse!Reader
Words: 8,981
Tags/Warnings: 18+ only! coworkers to friends to lovers, some blood/wound care but it's very minor, fluff, smut, unprotected sex, fingering, dirty talk, oral (f receiving), a hint of a praise kink
Summary: You and Kix have been dancing around each other for months. When losing a bet finds you alone in your apartment together for the first time, sparks fly.
A/N: I honestly was not a Kix girlie before writing this, so hopefully he's not too ooc!
Previous Work | Next Work | Masterlist
âYou donât have to do this, you know.â
Kix watches you move about your small kitchen from his seat at the counter. The beer he nurses in his hand is still cool, the condensation softening the label enough for his thumb to peel, a nervous habit you notice but are too polite to mention.
You pause your stirring momentarily to throw him an exasperated look over your shoulder.Â
âI know.â
âIâm just saying you donât need to do all this for me,â he says, gesturing towards the stove where a large pot bubbles, a delicious scent wafting through the air. âPizza wouldâve been fine.â
âAnd miss the opportunity to show off my excellent cooking?â you ask with a scoff, though it lacks any real conviction.Â
You turn to face him. He looks so out of place in your tiny apartment, perched on the stool that is dwarfed by his size. His shoulders hunch as if he's trying to make himself seem smaller, a feat in itself for someone so large.Â
You try to give him a smile that's more encouraging than teasing. âNot a chance.â
He shakes his head, returning the grin with one of his own as he looks down at his hands. The smile falls away when he sees the state of the label he had been absently peeling. He grimaces and balls up the ruined paper before throwing it at the trash can, a small ping echoing through the apartment as it lands in the center of the bin.
The corner of your mouth twitches into a smirk, and you roll your eyes playfully. Kix chuckles softly, and some of the tension dissipates from the room.
It's nice to hear him laugh after the week you've both had. You'd been near dead on your feet by the time the Resolute docked on Coruscant, but you'd promised Kix a proper home-cooked meal, and you weren't about to renege on your deal. A bet was a bet, after all.
Bets between the two of you were far from an unusual occurrence. Normally, it was simple things: what they were serving in the mess for breakfast, how many hangover remedies you'd have to administer after shore leave, or even just something as silly as who could finish their work faster. It had become so common to the point that the 501st was more than used to seeing you and Kix going back and forth, betting on just about everything.
This time was no different. You'd been arguing over a patient's chart one morning, and it had escalated until the two of you had settled on a bet. Whoever could get the most patients through their physical would win.
The only thing was that, by the time the two of you finally had the opportunity to settle the score, Kix had gotten the entire company in on it, and had somehow managed to get Rex to take his side. You had been absolutely furious at the time, but you got over it quickly when he made his request.
He could have chosen anything. He could have made you stay late or fill out paperwork for a week. He could have had you do something embarrassing.
Instead, he asked you to cook him dinner.
You don't have a lot of time outside of work, so when you do, you cook. It's your favorite hobby and one you're actually pretty good at. You take great pride in it. Cooking for Kix though? That's different.
It's not that you don't want to do it. On the contrary, you're thrilled by the opportunity. It's just that you want it to be perfect.
The apartment is quiet save for the sound of your work. You have the radio playing, the volume turned low so the music is more background noise than anything. You don't mind. You've always liked the sound of rain, and it gives you the opportunity to listen for Kix.
You'd noticed over the course of your friendship that Kix is usually quiet when he's comfortable. It had taken a while, but you learned his different silences. It was the same way he analyzed you: by the cadence of your footsteps and the tone of your voice. You'd learned to read him through those subtle indicators, and he had done the same.
Right now, he's content. There's no tension in his shoulders, and his breathing is even. You know he's watching you, his eyes tracking your movements. He looks a lot more relaxed here than he does at work, which isn't surprising. You've seen each other nearly every day since the start of the war, but you've never been able to spend time together like this. You're friends, sure, but you're also attracted to him, and you'd like to think he feels the same.
You've been dancing around each other for months, but neither one is brave enough to say something about it.
You make small talk, talking about nothing and everything while you cook. It's pleasant and comfortable and nice. You can feel his eyes on you as you work. The kitchen is small enough that he can watch you easily without having to leave his seat. You know he's enjoying the show.
âSo, what are we having?â he asks.
You can hear the curiosity in his voice and grin.
When he'd made the request, he'd said he was up for anything, but you wanted it to be special. You have a plan, one that you hope he'll like.
You turn around, propping your elbows on the counter and leaning forward. He mirrors your position, and you're so close your noses almost touch.
His eyes widen in surprise, but he doesn't pull back. You tilt your head. âItâs a surprise.â
And a good one, you hoped. You werenât sure the last time you put this much effort into a single meal, but if you were going to impress him, you wanted to do it right.
You'd started the process early this morning and had been checking and rechecking your progress throughout the day. You're making a traditional Alderaanian dish, one of your favorites, and one you're pretty confident you can pull off. You're not a chef by any stretch of the imagination, but you know your way around a kitchen and have been told by those who love you that your cooking is exceptional.
You can only hope he'll agree.
Of course, this was a man who preferred to subsist entirely on ration bars and caf, who forgot to eat unless you forced him out of the medbay, but you still found yourself hoping to wow him with your familyâs recipes.
When Kix showed up at your door, you could tell that he was nervous. You were too, but you tried not to let it show. You were doing this because you liked him, not to get a reaction out of him, but the anticipation of his response was enough to make your heart flutter in your chest.
He looked more than a little disarmed at the sight of you in your civilian clothes, and the feeling was mutual. You didn't think you'd ever seen him out of armor. When you invited him inside, he pulled out a bouquet of daylilies from behind his back, sheepishly explaining that Jesse insisted he shouldnât show up empty-handed.
The bouquet heâd given you was beautiful. You didnât have a vase to put them in, so they were soaking in water in the largest coffee mug you could find with âGalaxyâs Best Nurseâ in gaudy red letters on the side. You hoped they wouldnât wilt before you could find something better to put them in. You honestly couldnât remember the last time anyone had bought you flowers.
Kix was sweet, sweeter than you ever anticipated from your first meeting. On your first day aboard the Resolute, when Captain Rex first introduced you as the resident nurse aboard the ship, Kix took one long look at you and promptly rolled his eyes.
âShe's not gonna last a week.â
Rex had looked ready to throttle him, but you merely gave him a wry grin and told him you were more than capable of doing your job.
He was quick to apologize, though you could tell he was more than a little skeptical, and the two of you had spent the better part of that first month trying to get on the other's good side. The first time he laughed at one of your jokes, it was like the floodgates opened. After that, it was easy, and the two of you quickly fell into an easy friendship.
You came to realize being blunt was just his way, though Kix was never as short with you as he was with his brothers. Jesse said it was because he had a soft spot for you, but you were more inclined to believe he just didnât want to create a hostile work environment.
That was months ago, and a lot has changed since.
You enjoyed Kix. His dry humor always caught you off guard, even if you were getting used to it. He seemed to enjoy making you laugh. And at the end of a long day, he was always the first to ask if you needed help cleaning up the medbay, always the first to offer to walk you back to your quarters.
You shared plenty of late nights together, sometimes going over patient files or stocking supplies. Other times you simply sat together in the quiet, enjoying each otherâs company.
You grew close. It was only natural.
Still, it didn't feel natural to invite him over for a home-cooked meal. You'd never been anything but professional with each other, even in private. You'd never seen him in civvies before and had certainly never imagined that his hair, longer now than youâve ever seen it, might curl a little in the humidity.
It wasn't fair, really, how much you enjoyed the sight of him.
You had spent the day wondering if this was the right decision. You worried you were reading too much into his request, that you were imagining the interest you thought you saw. But if nothing else, you hoped tonight would provide some insight.
You wanted this to go well.
You didnât know how much of that was for your sake or his.
You push back from the counter, and Kix makes no move to follow. You turn back to the stove and continue working, a grin pulling at your lips. You donât think he realizes that you can feel his gaze on you. He doesn't make any attempt to hide his staring.
The silence between you isnât uncomfortable, but there is an undercurrent of something else, a tension you're not sure what to do with. You know that you aren't the only one feeling this way. He'd been nervous when he first arrived, and though he was more at ease now, the tension hadn't dissipated.
It's not an unwelcome feeling. If anything, it's the opposite. You enjoy knowing he's watching you, that youâre having some kind of effect on him. You enjoy having him here, alone. It's a different sort of intimacy, a different kind of closeness. You wonder if it's a step in the right direction.
You're not sure what to expect from him, but whatever it is, you're ready for it.
âHow long until dinner is ready, doc? I'm starving over here." You don't have to turn to see him smile. You can hear it in his voice.
"Don't rush me," you scold, and he chuckles. "Dinner isn't ready until it's ready."
"I can't believe you're making me wait. It smells delicious."
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," you say, and you glance over your shoulder at him. "I was worried you wouldn't."
Kix raises his eyebrows. "Worried? About what?"
You turn away. "I don't know. I thought maybe you'd be disappointed."
"Why would I be disappointed?" he asks, sounding genuinely confused.
"I don't know." You shrug. "Maybe because we haven't really hung out before, and maybe you didn't want to, andââ
"No," he says, cutting you off. "I like spending time with you. I wanted to come."
You swallow, trying to keep your expression neutral despite the sudden tightness in your chest. "Oh."
"Besides, I've been meaning to ask for a while."
"Ask me what?" you ask, looking over at him.
He gives a half-shrug, the corner of his mouth twitching. "To have dinner with you."
Your face grows warm, and your stomach does a flip. You try to focus on the food, but it's difficult when all you can think about is the man behind you.
You hadn't realized just how much you wanted him to say that until he did.
"If it helps, I can promise that you won't regret it," you say, throwing a grin over your shoulder.
He leans his chin on his palm, grinning back. "I'm sure I won't."
You set a pot of water on the stove and turn on the burner.
"What're you doing?" he asks, sounding concerned.
"Boiling water."
"For what?"
"Kebroots."
He looks confused. "Aren't we having that stuff you're making now?"
"This is the sauce for the main dish," you say, gesturing with your spoon. It's easy to forget that he's never had a proper home-cooked meal in his life, and the thought of him getting to taste this one is more than a little thrilling. "The kebroots are going in the water."
"Why?"
"Because they need to boil."
He gives you a flat look, and you roll your eyes. "Do you want to know the answer to everything, or do you want to enjoy the surprise?"
"Fine," he says, sitting back. "But don't think you can keep me from learning your secrets."
You raise your eyebrows at him. "Is that so?"
He nods, grinning.
"Well, then," you say, smiling down at the pot. "I'll have to make sure you don't."
You're not usually one to play your cards so close to the vest. It's not like you to keep secrets, but there's something fun about the intrigue, something thrilling about keeping him in the dark.
"Can I at least have a hint?" he asks, resting his elbows on the counter.
You turn and prop yourself against the stove. "No. I already told you. It's a surprise."
"Come on, doc. You can't give me something?" he wheedles, his brown eyes sparkling with mirth. "Just a little something to tide me over."
"No."
"Please?"
"Nope."
"You're no fun."
"And yet, here you are,â you say with a teasing tilt of your head.
Kix grins, then sighs.
"Fine," he says and pushes back from the counter. "If that's the case, then I'm going to need more beer."
He disappears into the fridge. You don't turn, focusing instead on the task at hand. The sauce is nearly finished, but there are still a few steps left to complete.
You hear him move to your bookshelf, fingers lightly tapping along the spines of your books. You'd been surprised when he mentioned enjoying reading, since most clones you'd met didn't bother with it, preferring instead to watch holodramas or listen to the radio. But Kix liked books, which you were sure he kept to himself for fear of teasing from his brothers. You had a sneaking suspicion he was a romantic.
He stops to pull one out, running his fingers down the spine. "The Time Machine," he reads.
"It was one of my favorites as a kid," you explain. "I'm surprised it survived the trip here."
Kix puts it back in its place. "Have you ever read any of the Corellian Civil War holonovels?"
"No.â You shake your head. âI've never been a fan of war stories."
Kix snorts. "Me neither. There's only so many ways they can tell the same story."
"There's nothing like real-life experience," you say, and you immediately regret it.
"True," Kix agrees and doesn't press the matter. Youâre thankful, your heart in your throat, that you hadnât ruined the moment entirely, but you canât help but feel a little on edge.
The two had been working together for several months, and though it wasn't uncommon for clone troopers and nat-born people to befriend one another, there was still an underlying tension between you, one that neither of you had the guts to address.
He'd asked you for dinner because he liked you. You accepted because you liked him.
Neither was quite sure what to do next.
The tension between you had grown more pronounced, and though neither of you made any effort to stop it, the unresolved feelings were starting to affect your work. You were both professionals and did your best not to let it interfere, but it was still there, a constant reminder of what was unsaid, a potential opportunity squandered.
Still, if you were going to pursue a relationship with anyone, you were glad it was him.
You had a fondness for him, and it had grown into something deeper. It wasn't just his looks. Though he was definitely the most handsome trooper in the GAR, that was never a primary consideration for you. Youâve spent nearly every waking moment around men who looked almost exactly like him, after all. But it was the differences, the small nuances that made him stand out, that drew your eye.
With the water finally boiling, you turn back to chopping the kebroot. The vegetable is a bit tricky to handle, its tough outer skin resisting the knife's edge. You steady your hand, apply more pressure, and try again.
Youâre grateful Kix seems to be distracted by your books, allowing you to focus. If he saw you struggling, heâd probably try to offer help, and you want to do this on your own.
He was right earlier, when he said you didn't need to do all this for him.
You don't.
But you want to.
He's a good man, a hard worker, and you want to show him your appreciation. He deserves someone to take care of him for once.
When you think about it, the whole thing seems silly. You're grown adults, not hormonal teenagers. You can't believe you're making such a big deal out of something so simple.
But it is a big deal, and not just because he's the first man you've found attractive in a long time. It's the fact that you've been dancing around this for months, if not longer, and now you finally have an opportunity to explore the potential between you.
Youâve been trying your best not to picture him here, but with him in the apartment, it was difficult not to imagine. You worked together. You were friends. It was easy for you to forget that, and even easier to let your imagination run wild.
You can see him in the kitchen, helping you chop vegetables, or washing dishes at the sink. You can see him on the couch, his arm draped over the back, his legs spread wide, his head tilted back in a laugh. You can see him in bed, and that's where your mind wanders to the most.
You imagine how it might feel to kiss him, to touch him, to have him touch you. You wonder if he'll be gentle or if he'll be rough. You don't have a preference. You don't care as long as it's him. You want him to hold you. You want to feel him pressed against you, his chest against yours, his mouth against your neck, his hands running up your sides, slipping underneath your shirtâ
You hiss out a curse as the knife slips, nicking the fleshy part of your finger. Blood wells up, a stark contrast against the green of the ruica.
"You okay?" Kix asks.
"I'm fine," you answer quickly.
You reach blindly for the towel, wrapping the cloth around the cut, trying to apply pressure. The cut isnât deep, but it stings like hell.
"What happened?" he asks, appearing at your side.
"Nothing. I'm fine."
"Let me see," he says, and grabs the wrist of the hand holding the towel.
"It's not bad," you say and are about to pull away, but he doesnât let go. He guides you to the sink and holds your hand under the tepid water. His eyes flicker from the wound to your face and back again, brows furrowed in a way you know means heâs gone into medic mode.
âKix, Iâm fine,â you huff. You try to withdraw your wrist, but he holds fast.
"Stop moving. You're bleeding all over the counter."
âSorry,â you say. You can feel your cheeks burning. You should have been more careful.
His hands are warm. The pressure feels good. You can't remember the last time someone touched you like this. You want to pull away, to spare yourself the embarrassment of being this close to him, but he doesn't seem to mind. If anything, he seems determined.
âWhereâs your med kit?â he asks, eyes still fixed on your hand.
You tell him where to find it, and he firmly instructs you to keep your hand under the water before he breaks into a jog toward the bathroom.
âSit,â Kix commands when he returns, his tone no-nonsense.
You can't help but laugh.
He shoots you a glare as he opens the kit and begins removing the supplies. "I'm serious, doc. Sit."
He's so cute when he's bossy.
"Alright," you relent, pulling out a chair and sitting down. He grabs the chair across from you and drags it closer, positioning himself directly across from you.
"Gimme your hand," he orders, and you do as you're told, holding it out for him. He gently peels the towel back and sets it aside. You don't dare look. You're too embarrassed.
âSeriously, you donât have to,â you assure him, but he just shakes his head and dabs the blood away with a clean corner of the towel.
âShouldâve known youâd be a Code 5,â he says your code word for a difficult patient with a roll of his eyes. He's only half joking.
âItâs a cut, not a stab wound,â you reply indignantly.
Kix shakes his head and reaches for the alcohol wipe. He opens it with his teeth and begins cleaning the area around the wound.
"I know that," he says, his voice softer. âI just donât like seeing you hurt.â
He looks away to discard the wipe, and when he meets your gaze again, his eyes are filled with warmth and something else.
You donât know how to respond.
It's a look that speaks volumes.
His touch is gentle, his fingers brushing against your palm. It's not necessary, but he does it anyway.
âJust let me take care of you,â Kix says quietly, his gaze locked on yours. âPlease. For my sake.â
âAlright.â You nod, biting your lip once he turns away to grab a bandage. The intensity in his gaze surprises you. Itâs different than the look he wears when youâre in the midst of surgery, different from the easy smile he wears when youâre with the men. This is something new, something unexpected.
It feels personal.
He tears the backing off the bandage and presses it gently over the cut. You try to focus on his hands instead of his face. His fingers are rough and calloused, and you how they'd feel against your bare skin.
The thought makes your stomach flutter.
It's not a foreign feeling. You've thought about this before, more times than you care to admit, but this is the first time you've been so close. This is the first time you let him.
When he finishes, he presses a kiss to your bandaged finger. The action is quick, almost thoughtless, and it catches you off guard. Kix freezes. His lips linger for a moment too long, and his cheeks flush pink.
He pulls back. "Sorry," he mumbles, not meeting your eyes.
"It's okay," you say, smiling shyly.
You're touched by the gesture. It's sweet and considerate, and exactly the sort of thing he'd do. His cheeks are flushed. You can't tell if he's embarrassed or if it's the proximity.
Your hand folds back into your lap. You can still feel the warmth of his lips on your skin. You don't know why the kiss affects you so much. It's not the first time you've been kissed, and it certainly won't be the last, but something about his touch makes your pulse quicken.
"You're sweet," you say, trying to lighten the mood.
He grins, shaking his head. "Don't let that get around."
"My lips are sealed."
He glances down at your mouth, his grin fading. You feel a thrill rush through you, the hair on the back of your neck standing up. Your heart starts to beat faster.
"Good," he whispers, his voice low and husky.
You don't move.
You don't want to break the spell.
Kix's eyes search yours, looking for some sign of reciprocation. He's giving you a chance to tell him no, to push him away.
Instead, your hand comes up to cup his cheek. Your thumb brushes across his bottom lip. You feel the breath leave his lungs, feel him lean into your touch. His eyes are hooded, pupils blown wide.
"Kix?"
"Yeah?" he whispers.
"You should kiss me," you breathe.
Kix rises to his feet, leaning down so that his face is only inches from yours. You take in his features, his warm eyes, the way they're trained on your lips, the way he's watching your every move as if waiting for you to change your mind.
His thumb caresses your cheek, and he waits a breath more before leaning in to press his lips to yours.
You sigh into his touch, bringing your other hand up to grab the back of his head. The kiss is soft, unhurried, a slow slide of lips.
Your tongue slides across his bottom lip, and he groans, pulling you closer, deepening the kiss. His hands roam over your shoulders, down your back, over your hips, his fingertips brushing the exposed skin above your waistband.
You part, and you let your forehead rest against his, both of you catching your breath. Eventually, you pull back, swallowing nervously.
"I'm sorry," you say. "I don't know why I did that."
"I do," he replies.
You look up in surprise and find him watching you. His eyes are bright, and he's smiling, a real smile, not the forced one he sometimes uses around others.
"I've wanted to do that since the day we met," he admits, his cheeks reddening slightly. "And I'm not sorry it happened."
"Really?" you ask, trying not to sound too eager.
He nods, the hand on your cheek moving to play with the ends of your hair. "You're beautiful. And smart. And you take no shit, especially from me. Whatâs not to like?"
You laugh and lean in to kiss him again. He returns the kiss eagerly, his hand resting on your lower back to pull you closer.
"I wasn't going to say anything," he continues between kisses. "I didn't think you would want this."
"Well, I do." You grin. "Very much."
He groans and leans in to capture your lips again, but you stop him with a finger to his lips. He raises an eyebrow, waiting for you to continue.
"The food's burning."
Kix's eyes go wide, and he rounds the counter in a flash, quickly grabbing the pot off the burner and setting it aside.
"Shit," he curses, and you can't help but laugh at the panicked expression on his face.
"Relax. I'm kidding," you say, and you follow him to wrap your arms around waist. He relaxes into your touch, his hands coming up to rest on your hips.
âCan it be reheated?â he asks, his expression hopeful.
You quirk an eyebrow. âYeah.â
âGood.â
His hands slide up to cup either side of your face and pull you into another kiss, one you can feel all the way down to your toes. He presses you up against the counter, his body flush against yours.
You whine into his mouth at the feeling of his tongue against yours, your fingers gripping his hair to ground yourself. He tastes like beer and something else, something dark and earthy.
It's delicious, and you can't get enough.
His lips leave yours to trail across your cheek to your neck, peppering kisses along your jaw, his teeth scraping along your pulse.
"We should probably wait until after dinner to do this," you breathe, tilting your head to give him better access.
"I can't," he replies, his voice rough, his hands roaming across your body.
"Me either," you agree, and let him lift you onto the counter. Your legs wrap around his hips instinctively, your hands cupping his face as you bring him in for another kiss.
His hands are everywhere, his touch electric, and you want him to touch you everywhere, his hands and his lips, his mouth and his tongue.
Your hands slide underneath his shirt, pushing the material up until he has to withdraw to pull it off over his head. You take in the expanse of his bare torso, the way the muscles ripple under your touch, and your heart feels like it's about to beat out of your chest.
"You're gorgeous," you say, your hands coming to rest on his chest. You could feel the steady beat of his heart beneath your palm, his chest rising and falling with each breath.
"You are," he says. "And I've wanted this for so long."
He reaches behind you to remove your shirt, leaving you in your bra and pants. You feel exposed, vulnerable, and you want him to touch you, to make you feel good, to ease the ache that's been building inside you since the first time he smiled at you.
He dips his head to kiss you again, his hands sliding up to tangle in your hair. Your mouth opens to his, and he takes advantage, deepening the kiss and pushing his tongue against yours. He nips at your bottom lip, sucking it between his teeth, and you moan, pulling him closer.
His lips travel across your jaw, down your neck, along your collarbone. His hands find the clasp of your bra and make quick work of the latch, leaving you bare. You shiver, the cool air hitting your skin, goosebumps breaking out over your skin.
"Fuck, you're beautiful," he whispers, and he leans down to take one nipple into his mouth.
"Oh," you gasp, arching your back into him.
He sucks the sensitive bud between his lips, swirling his tongue around the peak, teasing you. He takes the other nipple between his thumb and forefinger, tugging and twisting, sending sparks of pleasure through you.
Your head falls back, and you moan his name, your fingers holding tight to his neck, your thighs squeezing his hips.
You can feel the heat of him against you, the hard ridge of his cock pressing against your center, and you grind down against him, desperate for friction.
His mouth leaves your breast, and he kisses you, his tongue tangling with yours, his hand coming up to cup your cheek. You drag him closer, your hands running over his back, exploring every inch of his warm, firm skin.
His lips trail across your cheek, and you gasp as he presses open-mouthed kisses down your neck. He pauses to suck a bruise into the sensitive skin where your neck meets your shoulder, his hands massaging your waist.
"What do you want, meshâla?" he murmurs, his mouth trailing along your collarbone.
"You," you reply, your voice breaking into a moan when he bites down gently on your shoulder, and you can't help but buck your hips.
You can feel him grin against your skin. "You have me."
"Bed," you manage, your hands gripping at his shoulders. "Now."
Kix chuckles, his hands sliding down to cup your ass. He pulls you flush against him, your arms wrapping around his neck as he lifts you off the counter. Your legs tighten around his waist and you bury your face in his neck to muffle your gasp as he walks you down the short hallway toward your bedroom.
Kix kisses you deeply as he lays you on the bed, hovering above you for a moment before he ducks down to press a kiss to your stomach.
His lips trail lower, dipping just above the waistband of your pants. Your breath hitches at the feeling of his mouth on you, the scratch of his stubble against the sensitive skin there. The idea of what heâll feel like between your thighs has you nodding before heâs even asked the question, his hands hovering on your waist.
Kixâs fingers hook into the waistband, slowly sliding your pants and underwear down your legs. You help him, lifting your hips so he can pull them off. Your panties stick to the slick dampening your center, and Kix lets out a barely concealed moan at the darkened patch there before tearing them away.Â
You expect him to discard them over your shoulder with your pants, but he shocks you by giving you a bashful smile and tucking them into his back pocket.
"Really?" you ask, trying to stifle your amusement.
"What?" He gives you a look that's almost innocent, if not for the fact that he's hovering above you, half-naked and fully aroused.
âNothing. I just didn't expect you to want to keep them."
"Do you mind?" he asks, his expression turning serious.
"Not at all," you say, and watch with rapt attention as his expression turns devious.
"Good. I plan to treasure these," he teases, and he presses a kiss to your bare knee. You shudder at the touch, at the implication behind his words.
"Now where were we?" he murmurs, his voice husky, his eyes dark as he lowers himself to his knees on the floor in front of you.
He grabs the back of your ankles and tugs, and you let out a squeak as you're pulled until your ass is nearly hanging off the edge. Itâs a precarious position thatâs immediately rectified by Kix arranging your legs so theyâre thrown over each of his shoulders, his face level with your exposed center.
The feeling of his breath against your cunt is almost too much to bear, your legs wanting to close instinctually, but he quickly stops you with a firm hand on either thigh.
âHold still, beautiful,â he commands softly, his eyes fixed on your wet, swollen folds.
âKixââ
Whatever you meant to say evaporates as soon he darts forward, tongue flattening to lick a stripe from your entrance to your clit. You nearly forget your own name when he parts your lips with one hand to give him better access, zeroing in on your clit without any direction from you.Â
His licks start out soft, then steadily increase in pressure until you're nearly grinding on his tongue. The scratch of his stubble against you feels as good as you imagined. He eats you out like heâs starving, with a passion you knew he possessed but never dared to dream heâd apply to you in this way.
He withdraws for a moment to take a deep breath, his eyes flicking up to yours, pupils blown wide. âMore?â
You nod frantically, though you arenât sure what you're agreeing to. Anything to keep his hands and mouth on you. âPlease.â
Kix dives back in, lapping up the juices leaking from you before returning back to your clit. Zaps of pleasure jolt up your spine and turn into a burning heat when you feel something nudge your entrance. His finger slips inside with ease, stroking your walls and the fire building inside of you, your eyelids fluttering shut.Â
He finds the spongey part deep inside you within seconds, hooking his finger upward to press firmly and drawing a gasp from you. With his target found, he adds another finger and begins to slowly curl them, pushing his hand in and out in a rhythm that has you seeing stars.
His lips close around your clit, suddenly sucking hard, and you gasp.
Your hips jolt off the bed, thighs closing involuntarily around his head, and he groans loudly. Your eyes open abruptly, worrying you've hurt him somehow.Â
Instead, you find his eyes closed, brow furrowed in pleasure, and the hand heâd been using to hold you open has retreated. From your vantage point, you can only see his arm moving, and you realize with a moan that heâs languidly palming his cock in time with the thrusting of his fingers.
As if he can sense you watching, Kix opens his eyes. Though his mouth doesnât let up in its assault on your clit, you can see the smile in his eyes as he stares back. His fingers speed up as he pulls back to speak, punching the air from your lungs and sending you falling back against the bed.
âCan you take three?â
âYe-es.â You hiccup at the feeling of a third thick finger slowly breaching you, stuffing you fuller than you've ever been able to manage on your own. The coil in your stomach tightens with each push and pull into your wet heat. Every thrust of his fingers sends you higher and higher, your entire body writhing with the force of it.
âLook at you," he groans. "So tight and wet. Taking my fingers so well, like you were made for me."
Your hands come up to fist the sheets at your sides, the coil in your belly winding tighter and tighter with each word, the way he moans between your legs, the way his eyes flutter closed in bliss as he fucks you with his hand. You can feel yourself approaching your peak, your walls clenching and fluttering around his fingers.
"Are you gonna come for me?"
"Yes." You gasp, your thighs starting to shake with the strain.
"Come on," he encourages, taking your clit between his lips and sucking, his tongue flicking rapidly against you. "Let go, beautiful."
Your eyes slam shut, and your orgasm slams into you with a force unlike anything you've felt before. It rips through your body, the heat coiled inside your exploding, your walls clamping down on his fingers as you writhe. You feel yourself nearly come out of your body, tingling pleasure coursing through you in waves.Â
Just as you're beginning to wonder if itâll ever stop, it begins to fade, leaving you panting and sweating as your body collapses against the bed.
âHoly shit,â you say breathlessly. Kix chuckles from the floor, and you push yourself up on your elbows to look at him after you regain control of your limbs. Heâs staring back at you, a dreamy smile on his face, the entire lower half dampened with your arousal.
âHow was that?â he asks.
âI think you know,â you laugh, breathless. âI thought I was about to suffocate you there for a second.â
âWorth it, trust me.â He sighs wistfully, his eyes a little unfocused. âI don't think I've ever seen anything so hot in my life."
"You're such a charmer," you tease, reaching down to run your fingers through his hair.
"Just telling the truth," he smiles, and presses a kiss to your inner thigh.
Kix helps you lower your trembling legs from his shoulders before glancing down at the hand that was just inside you. He lifts it up to his mouth, sucking his fingers and tasting your release with a thoughtful hum before he moves to stand.
âJust as I thought.â
âWhat?â
âI knew youâd taste incredible.â
He kisses you, tongue pushing its way inside your mouth to tangle with your own. You moan when you taste yourself on his tongue, chasing after him when he pulls away to push his pants off completely.Â
You want to keep kissing him, keep feeling his mouth against yours, but you're distracted by the sight of his cock springing free from his small black briefs as he slides them down his strong thighs.
Your mouth drops open in disbelief.
âYouâre kidding.â
Kixâs fingers, slick with his spit and the remnants of your release, circle the head of his cock. Itâs half-hard from his concentrated efforts on your cunt, but it quickly springs to life under his attention. Even not fully erect, itâs by far the most impressive cock you've ever seen. Thick, a sizable length, and now curving up toward his stomach, you canât look away.
Saliva begins to pool on your tongue at the thought of having him in your mouth, but before you can lean forward to act on your desires, heâs pushing you back on the bed.
âIf I knew all you clones were packing ââ
He cuts you off with a bruising kiss.
âCareful, meshâla.â The Mandoâa comes out in a growl as he crowds you against the bed, slotting himself between your legs. His hand slides up your thigh to your breast, pinching a nipple. âIâm not big on sharing.â
You let out a breathless giggle as his mouth descends to follow the path his hand has taken, sucking your other nipple into his mouth. The feeling of his mouth and teeth on your chest makes you moan, your hips bucking against his.
"Kix, please."
He kisses back up your chest and throat to press his forehead against yours. You can feel the way his fingers tremble against you as he reaches down to line himself up with your entrance, and your hand comes up to cup his cheek.
"Are you nervous?"
"Yes," he admits, eyes closing as he takes a deep breath.
"We don't have to do this," you assure him.
His eyes shoot open. "I want this more than anything."
"Okay," you smile.
He lets out a sigh, his body relaxing above you. "Sorry, it's just... I've wanted this for a long time, and I just don't want to mess it up."
"You won't." Your arms come around to wrap around his neck. "But I'll tell you if I'm not liking something."
He nods, ducking down to kiss you deeply. Your legs come up to wrap around his waist, and he groans into your mouth as the head of his cock rubs against your clit.
"Please," you whine as he begins to rock his hips. His cock glides easily through your slick folds, and his lips drop back to your neck. "Inside me, Kix."
"Maker, you're wet." His cock slips back down to your entrance, and you bite your lip as the head begins to breach you.
"That's what happens when you make a girl cum," you quips, moaning as he slowly inches inside of you. You feel every inch of him, the stretch more than you're used to but still deliciously perfect. "Oh, fuck!"
He stops, pulling back to look at you with concern. "Are you okay? Am I hurting you?"
"No! No, it's just... " you laugh breathlessly, your hand coming up to caress his cheek. "You're huge. Fuck, Kix."
He smirks, leaning down to kiss you as he continues to push inside of you. The stretch is unlike anything you've ever felt, and it's making your head spin. He feels amazing, thick and hot and throbbing inside of you.
"Fuck, you feel good," he grunts. "I wish you could see how good you look taking my cock."
Your cunt clenches around him at his words, and he groans. He buries his face in your neck, pressing kisses along your jaw, his breath coming out in hot puffs against your skin.
When he bottoms out, you both let out a shaky breath.
"Stars," you gasp, your fingers digging into his shoulders. "Kix, you feel amazing."
"So do you," he grits out. "You take my cock so well, mesh'la. Like you were made for me."
You moan at his words, his hips pulling back to thrust shallowly into you. You can't help the whine that escapes you, your legs tightening around his waist to pull him closer. The slow drag of his cock against your walls is almost too much, pleasure bordering on the line between pain.
"Faster," you pants, your nails scratching down his back. "Harder, Kix. I need it."
"Anything you want," he replies, his hips picking up speed.
He kisses you, tongue plunging into your mouth as he begins to snap his hips against yours. Your eyes roll back at the feeling of him filling you, the slick sounds of your cunt and his thrusts echoing throughout the room.
Kix fucks you like it's his last chance, hard and fast and rough, like he's afraid youâll disappear at any moment, and you can barely do anything but hold on.
He changes the angle of his hips slightly, and your mouth drops open as a strangled cry is torn from your lips. His cock rubs against your sweet spot with each stroke, and his head drops to your chest as his hips slam against yours.
"Stars, meshâla, you feel incredible," he grunts, pressing his face into your neck. His teeth sink into the juncture where your neck meets your shoulder, and you let out a strangled gasp.
"Oh, fuck. Don't stop, Kix," you pants, your voice breaking into a sob, your hand tangling in his hair to tug on it. His hips stutter for a moment before he picks up the pace, your entire body jolting with the force of each thrust. He's fucking you so hard, his cock driving into you with enough force that your entire body rocks with the force of it. "Kix, oh kriff."
He withdraws from your neck, his mouth returning to yours. He swallows your moans, hips pumping into your faster as you squeeze around him. The feeling of him stretching you is intoxicating, and you never want it to end. You wonder if it would be too much to ask him to stay inside your forever, his thick cock plugging you up so nothing could slip out. You feel him everywhere, all around you and inside you. It's overwhelming in the best possible way.
"Kix," you whimper, breaking the kiss to bury your face in his neck. Your teeth scrape along his skin, and you revel in the groan that escapes him. His hands tighten on your hips, thumbs pressing against the bones there.
"Meshâla," he gasps. "Kriff, I'm getting close."
"Me, too."
You can feel the fire burning low in your stomach, your walls fluttering around him. You dig your heels into his ass, encouraging him to go even deeper, and you see stars when he hits the spot inside you that makes your toes curl.
"Right there, Kix!"
He changes angles so he's hitting your g-spot on every thrust, his mouth dropping back to your neck. You can feel the sweat beading on his skin, the way his muscles flex under your hands with every movement. You scratch down his back, hips jerking to meet his, and you know he must be close. His thrusts are becoming more erratic, his breathing heavier.
"Kix, I'm gonna--" you gasp, your hand cupping the back of his neck.
He buries his face in your neck, placing open-mouthed kisses on every inch of skin in his reach. The hand on your hip slides between you, and you nearly scream when he begins to circle your clit with his thumb.
"Cum for me, beautiful," he mutters, biting your earlobe.
Your orgasm comes out of nowhere, your body seizing up as you cums. White-hot pleasure courses through you, your thighs shaking around him. You can vaguely hear him whispering praise in your ear, but you can't focus on anything except the feeling of his cock still pounding into your as you ride out your high.
"So good, mesh'la. I love the way your pussy squeezes my cock. You look so pretty when you cum, you know that?â he babbles with a low groan, hips beginning to stutter. âFuck, I'm not gonna last."
You manage to regain your bearings after a moment, your body feeling like jelly. Your limbs feel like they weigh a ton, but you're determined. You need to see him lose control, need to see him fall apart because of you. You know he's close, can feel his thrusts becoming more and more uneven.
"Cum for me, Kix," you order. You can't help the smug smirk that overtakes your features as he groans loudly. "I want to see you."
"Mesh'la," he chokes out, hips losing their rhythm as he fucks you.
"Let go, baby." You lean up to nip his jaw, the hand on the back of his neck tangling in his hair. He looks so beautiful above you, eyes screwed shut, a flush coloring his cheeks. His skin is shining with sweat, muscles flexing as he pushes himself further.
"Look at me."
His eyes flutter open, and you nearly cum again. The sight of him, eyes half-lidded and mouth hanging open, is almost enough to tip you over the edge.
"Fuck," he gasps, hips pistoning into your erratically.
"Cum for me," you repeat.
The grip on your hips is almost bruising as he buries himself inside you. His hips jerk once, twice, and then he's gone, moaning loudly as he cums. You can feel the pulsing of his cock inside you, the warm wetness flooding your cunt, and you can't help the whine that escapes you.
"Kriff," he grunts, head dropping down to rest against yours. You stay like that for a moment, both panting, the only sounds in the room the faint hum of the rain outside and your heavy breathing.
You feel boneless, completely and utterly spent. If you were to die right now, you'd die happy. Kix props himself up on his forearms, brushing your sweaty hair from your face with a grin. He presses a soft kiss to your lips, and you smile tiredly.
"Hey," you whisper.
"Hey," he replies. He ducks down to kiss you again, his smile widening. Has he always had dimples? How did you not notice those before? "How are you feeling?"
"Messy,â you laugh. You glance down at the place where your bodies are joined, feeling him twitch inside you.
"Let me take care of that," he says, gently sliding out of you. The sound he makes when he leaves your body is positively sinful, and your thighs clench at the feeling of his cum leaking out of you.
Kix brushes another kiss against your temple before standing from the bed. You watch with half-lidded eyes as he disappears into the refresher, returning a moment later with a damp washcloth. He cleans you up gently, tossing the cloth in the direction of the refresher once he's finished.
"Come here," you murmur, reaching out for him.
He climbs into bed beside you, and you roll onto your side to press yourself against his chest, throwing your leg over his. His arms come around you immediately, holding you close as he peppers kisses on your hair. You snuggle closer, sighing happily as the warmth radiating from him cocoons around you. His hands run over every inch of available skin as if he's committing it to memory.
"I can't believe we waited so long to do that," you mumbled against his chest.
Kix laughs, the vibrations running through his chest and into yours. You're suddenly aware of how bare you both are, how you're pressed together from shoulder to toe. It should be unnerving, but it isn't. You feel safe.
"Me either. We should've been doing that this whole time."
You giggle, your hand running across his side to rest on his ribs. You can feel the steady thump of his heartbeat beneath your palm. "Maybe next time you can fuck me on a med table."
He groans, the hand on your waist moving down to squeeze your ass. "That violates about ten different health codes."
"Fine. The supply closet, then."
"Meshâla â" The words are a choked moan, and you canât help but laugh.
"You're cute when you're flustered."
"You're a menace."
You lean up to press a kiss to his jaw, smirking. "But you like it.â
"You're right," he chuckles, leaning down to capture your lips in a gentle kiss. "I do."
You hum happily, your eyes fluttering closed as his lips move slowly against yours before a rumbling sensation under your hand makes them shoot open.
"Was that your stomach?"
Kix blushes and looks away. "Maybe."
You roll your eyes fondly, pushing away from his chest. He whines, trying to pull your back against him.
âYouâre hungry,â you laugh.
"I am not," he protests weakly.
You stand from the bed, grinning when his eyes immediately drop to your body. His gaze is so heated that you can't help but flush, and it only burns brighter when you bend over to pick up your pants, and he lets out a low groan.
"Mesh'la, if you keep doing that, I'll never let you leave this bed," he growls.
You bite your lip, your eyes flickering down to the sheet barely covering his growing erection. The sight is mouthwatering, and your mind fills with a thousand different ideas about what you'd like to do with him. But your stomach growls again, and you sigh, walking toward the refresher.
"Where are you going?" he pouts, propping himself up on his elbows.
"You're not the only one who's hungry." You stop at the door, giving him a mischievous smile. "And if you're a good boy, I'll make it worth the wait."
Kix is quiet for a moment before he speaks. "I can wait."
"Good boy."
His responding groan has you grinning from ear to ear as you disappear behind the door, your laughter echoing off the walls.

CLONE CRUSHES: TORRENT COMPANY
PAIRING \ Torrent Company x GN!Reader (Rex, Fives, Echo, Kix, Hardcase, Jesse, Tup) SYNOPSIS \ How the troopers of Torrent Company act when they have a crush on you. WARNING(S) \ None AUTHOR'S NOTE \ This took me an insanely long time to finish, but here we are! Yes, the Mon Gala is a reference to the Met Gala. I am inordinately proud of it.
CAPTAIN REX
Rex is awkwardâawkward around you when he realizes how strong his feelings are and awkward doing anything about it. He does more fumbling than flirting in the beginning, stuck in his head and panicking about it, but he gets more comfortable over time.
Give him a break, heâs doing his best.
Despite being standoffish in his affections, Rex is a gentleman and heâll prove it to you in a million little actions. When youâre commuting through Coruscant, heâll always walk on the side of you closest to traffic. If there arenât enough seats of everyone at a group gathering, he would immediately get up and give you his. The second that you admit to being cold, heâs giving you some of his spare blacks.
Speaking of letting you borrow his clothes⊠seeing you wearing them for the first time almost breaks his brain. He just stands there and stares at you, eyes wide and head buzzing. All he can think about is how karking gorgeous you are, and how he can get you to replace your entire wardrobe with his stuff.
Later, he tells you that you can âjust keep itâ, and that he has plenty of replacements. He is not subtle at all, and thus deserves all the shit heâs going to get for it.
Rex doesnât often show up to plans that arenât mission-critical, not unless a few members of Torrent Company drag him along. Or, if he knows that youâre going to be there.
He could be at the Mon Gala, with all the most famous and wealthy beings on Coruscant, and heâll literally just show up and talk to you the entire time. If he canât, if heâs trapped in a conversation thatâs actually important or youâre pulled away, heâll watch from a distance until he can make his way back.
Rex knows his priorities. With a little luck, he might just become as important to you as you are to him.
ARC TROOPER ECHO
Echoâs feelings are pretty contained, much like the trooper himself, but the way he looks at you gives it all away.
You can be doing anything and heâll be staring at you with literal heart eyes, but he canât help it. Youâre cute. Heâll watch you go about your life, perfectly intent until the warmth in his chest spills over and forces his gaze away to sort through his thoughts.
Heâs on the other side of the damn room and youâve somehow made him go all shy.
Echoâs observantâkind of has to be, as an ARC trooperâand heâll catalog every habit of yours down to the littlest detail. A part of him craves the intimacy of knowing everything about you, something that fuels his quiet delight at being able to suss out what youâre thinking when others canât.Â
More often than not, his insight into you catches you off guard. Convincing others that you arenât scared out of your mind is practically a job requirement, but somehow, you can never fool Echo. Not even your bravest face can convince him that you donât need to lean on him, tell him your frustrations, or hold hands under the table.
Usually, Echo keeps to himself, a little closed off to anyone but his closest vode. But the minute you walk into the room, his mood immediately brightens. Heâs quicker to smile and laugh; itâs like all his stress melts away, and that doesnât go unnoticed by the rest of Torrent Company.
Hardcase has sneakily captured more than a few clips of you two, edited over with so many pink filters and glitter hearts that youâre barely recognizable, and circulated them among the vode.
It doesnât matter if Echo tries to scour them from the holonet, they become so well-known that clones from entirely different battalions will ask him about his cyare.
He's eternally grateful for the Primeâs dark complexionâyou donât even have to lift a finger to get under his skin. You fluster him too easily. Heâs helpless but to forgive you, though, when you smile at him the way you do.
ARC TROOPER FIVES
Fives could care less whether other people are laughing at him or with himâhe knows heâs hilarious, and thatâs enough to satisfy his ego. The only person who makes him uncharacteristically self-conscious is, well, you.
Yes, Echo has (and will) tease him endlessly for this.
Whenever heâs around you, heâd feel an undeniable urge to do one thing: make you laugh. He cracks a joke and immediately peeks over to gauge your reaction. If he succeeds in making you chuckle, snort, or even just breathe a little harder out of your nose, he lights up. Youâre gorgeous when you laugh, even more so when itâs because of him. He canât help but double down on the bit until youâre too weak to breathe.
Complaining about your sides hurting only prompts him to apologize for âbeing too funny for you to handleâ.
Fives is an incorrigible flirt on a good day, but when heâs around you it becomes 1000% worse. Heâs guilty of every cheesy move in the playbookâpretending to yawn and stretch so that he can put his arm around your shoulders, asking you to âhold somethingâ and taking your offered hand in his, or even faux-demanding that you kiss his injuries better.Â
He means everything he says, but heâs very careful to make his overtures playful. Fives doesnât want to scare you away if you donât feel the same.
Being near to you puts him at ease, soothes an itch he didnât even realize he had before you both met. He unconsciously seeks out contact with you all the time, pressing his knee to your under the table, bumping shoulders, playing with the fabric of your sleeves. Small things.
So, heâs touchy, and about half of the time he doesnât even realize it. Why should he, when heâs always shared contact freely with his vode?Â
Maybe he makes just one too many comments, gets a little too comfortable in your personal space, gives in to his desire to see you flusteredâbut when you decide to give him a taste of his own medicine, heâs toast. Smile a bit, touch him, and Fives goes from a cocky, formidable ARC trooper to a stammering cadet.
Heâs kind of okay with his brain melting, though, because youâre so pleased with yourself. And although heâs hot-faced and grinning like an idiot, heâs your idiot.
LIEUTENANT JESSE
Much like Fives, Jesse is a jokerâone of his favorite activities is making fun of you, and in a way that implies youâre the one whoâs crushing instead of him. Itâs merciless, especially when the rest of Torrent company catch on to the bit. Getting flustered only makes it worse, easier for him to tease you about âgetting nervous around himâ.
Watch what you say when heâs around, because anything that could be construed as innuendo will be. Ask an innocent question about if clone armor is hot to wear, and watch Jesseâs smirk grow as he says: âI think I should be asking you that, sugar.â
Itâs kind of a way for him to test you, figure out how the idea of liking him affects you.
His vode discover his true feelings when he actually shares his food with you, sometimes without you even having to ask. Itâs kind of mindboggling to see the same guy who threatened Kix for stealing his rations readily let you eat from his plate.
Heâd be so happy if you shared your food with him, too. Even more so if you bring him things that arenât rations. The closest heâs ever come to straight-up confessing his love for you is when you got a box of Mandalorian uj cake for him because heâd never tried it.
However, playful, joking Jesse can become a no-nonsense bodyguard at the drop of a hat. He has a protective streak a mile long, something that drives him to shield his brothers from allies and enemies alike, and more recently, you.Â
Jesse is intimidating as haran, built like a tank and covered with tattoos, and itâs made so much worse when someoneâs targeting you. Heâs not afraid to get in peopleâs faces about it, either, over two hundred pounds of ARC fueled by rage and spite. A little âchatâ is all they need to get them to apologize to youâthough, in Jesseâs expert opinion, they donât deserve your forgiveness.
All of his bravado melts when you quietly thank him for defending you. Thatâs his job, sugar, and donât you forget it.
CLONE MEDIC KIX
Between carrying out his duty to the Republic and ensuring his idiot vode donât keel over and die, Kix neither has the time nor the energy to be throwing himself at his crush. Even without his job running him ragged, he wouldnât be the typeâno matter how intense his feelings are.
Rather, Kix courts you. From a distance.
While Kix may not have much in terms of credits, heâll do everything in his power to make your life a little easier; By virtue of his authority and near-legendary status amongst the troops, he has a lot of influence on his side. And if that doesnât work, well⊠thereâs many reasons why you donât piss off a medic.
Little acts of service are it for him. Before you even get to the refractory, heâs set aside your favorite âflavorâ of ration bar to ensure they donât run out. If you complain about being tired, youâll find an extra cup of caffâor a sedativeâsitting innocently on your desk.Â
Struggling with the mountain of stuff youâre carrying? Kix is hauling whatever items are in reach into his arms before you even ask for help. About to miss the turbolift? Heâll hold the door for you and glare at his vode if they complain too much.
Need a hand to hold during a procedure? Donât worry honey, heâs got you.
Kix loves that you treat his time with respect, but sometimes getting you all to himself is a high-stakes negotiation. Youâll bicker back and forth, him insisting that no, youâre not intruding on him or his brothers, and you trying to reassure him that he isnât obligated to hang out with you if heâs too tired or doesnât want to be around natborns. He knows he isnât, but youâre oblivious to how much he wants to.
Kix would get so slick about stealing you away. When he has the opportunity, heâll casually strike up a conversation about field medicine and- oh, you donât remember that training session? Well, he has a blank space on his schedule today and heâs more than happy to slot you in for a little extra help.
Heâd be (quietly) over the moon if you decided to slip into his office and chat with him while he tears through paperwork or runs labs. While he fantasizes about hopes to take you out on a proper date someday, heâs content to bottle up your laughter as he complains about diâkute vode, hoarding the memory for the darkest moments of the war.
CLONE TROOPER HARDCASE
Congratulations! With Hardcase crushing on you, youâve snagged a two-in-one deal: A personal hype man and an overexcited puppy.
In Hardcaseâs eyes youâre superior at everything you do, period. He insists that youâre the best at your job any chance he gets, even going so far as to volunteer your name whenever some mission needs your kind of expertiseâannoying, but itâs hard to stay mad at him for long.
Your competence is really attractive to him, and sometimes he forgets youâre not together and lets a few comments slip. Hardcase doesnât even realize what heâs said after the fact, oblivious to the fact that your face feels like itâs been dipped in lava when he admires âhow kriffing good you are at thatâ and how âhotâ it is.
He praises you so much for doing the most mundane things, itâs like a compulsion for him. You could be helping tape him up after a battle and heâs making little observations about how perfect your wrapping is and how gentle you are with him.
Kix overhears this and tells him that heâd better go to you for wound dressing than the medbay, if youâre so much better at it. He just might, if that means he could get you to touch him again.
Hardcase loves your attention, and occasionally that translates into him being intentionally annoying. Heâll pop up all the time when heâs off duty, making himself at home in your office or at your side and bothering you to your witâs end. Heâll hide your stylus and make you chase him around to get it, or heâll call you acting as if he has something important to tell you and then manage to keep you on the line for an hour.
The second it seems like youâre getting upset at him, however, he cuts the crap immediately. If youâre not having fun, heâs not having fun, and he wants to make that abundantly clear to you in case⊠just in case it turns out youâre interested in him the same way heâs interested in you.
CLONE TROOPER TUP
Tup might not be as confident as Kix, or as widely renowned as Rex, or as charismatic as Fives and Echo⊠and that knowledge can weigh heavily on him. Thinking that, compared to his brothers, he doesnât have much to offer you is part of why he hesitates to act on his feelings.
Take these thoughts with a mountain of saltâTup excels at something else, and thatâs being an absolute sweetheart. His patience is near-infinite when it comes to you. Heâs always happy to explain something (however many times you need) and is the first to lend you a hand if youâre struggling.
Just donât read too much into his full-body flinches whenever your fingers brush his, the way his words stumble when you get too close.
Being a standard, rank-and-file trooper makes it all the more difficult for him to even imagine catching your eye, but ironically, his status gives him unique opportunities. Doing grunt work around the ship means that you often cross paths, affording him the chance to say hello or strike up a passing conversation. If heâs lucky, he gets the chance to be beside you throughout his shift.
Itâs useless to try and thank him for any of his help, heâll just duck his head and insist that heâs more than happy to give you a hand. Your praise, however, has him sporting a smug little grin for the rest of the day,
The man melts under your hands like butter. You can convince him to do anything if you ask nicely enough, and on more than one occasion heâs left. He regrets it only when youâre half in his lap and doodling on his bare arm, too focused to notice his increasingly flustered demeanor even as you scold him for fidgeting.Â
Privately, you worry that people are going to use Tup as a doormatâbut if you mention it to the rest of Torrent, their hysterical laughter will shut you up fast.Â
Donât blame them too much, though. The last time Fives mimicked a whip cracking sound within Tupâs hearing range, he was applying bacta for weeks.

Girl Code
"Where is she, Tech?" Crosshair pleaded, head still buried in his arms and fingers curling into his scalp. Every slump and angle of his body screamed I fucked up.
"Safe." Tech sniffed, not bothering to look up from his datapad. "Her comms set to ping her location to me every 20 minutes, and she'll message every hour so I know she's alright."
"What?" Crosshair's confusion was enough to drag him from his misery for a moment, his brothers' eyebrows raised in similar sentiments. Amidst your dramatic storming out of the bar, when exactly did you have time to organise that?
Tech shrugged. "Girl code."
"What!?" Crosshair repeated.
"Girl. Code. Like the Jedi code. All females have an unspoken vow of alliance, and a preset standard of behaviours and protocols."
Tech straightened his goggles, tone smug and lofty.
âI, of course, am an honorary participant.â
~~~~~
The way I have five years worth of fanfiction that I never posted or showed to a single person bc I was shit scared for some reason. Like when I used to read wattpad back in the dark ages, I'm talking medieval times, old logo, no ads, I would literally delete and re-download the app whenever I used it for FEAR that someone would find out. So I'm gonna post my little snippets and figure out how tf to make a blog look good, and see if I end up brave enough to end up posting - Well, the lot of it I guess.
Your Boys To The Rescue
Summary: You've somehow managed to get trapped in the refresher and it's up to your boys in the Torrent Company to come get you out.
Author's Note: So this is my first clone fic, and the first fic I've written in ages! I was heavily inspired by the tiktok (link below). Please be kind, I hope that I was able to capture everyone right. Can be seen as pre-relationship or platonic reader x torrent company.
Characters: Rex, Kix, Jesse, Fives, Hardcase, Tup, Dogma
Word count: 2020
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGe12t8Sr/
You were mortified. Absolutely mortified. Hearing the voices on the other side of the door, arguing between themselves was not making you feel any better. You desperately wanted to disappear but there was no chance of that, not while the kriffing refresher door was stuck.
It was just your luck you decided to shower in the refresher attached to your office. The work you had been doing was still piled high on your desk, and you thought a nice warm shower would be just the thing to relax you and prepare you for the unending amount of flimsi you had to go through. It had been going so well until you realised that you had left your clean uniform in your office and went to go get it, only a towel wrapped around you. A simple, honest mistake that was now costing you because the door was jammed. It refused to open, no matter how many times you had tried.
That had been when Captain Rex had knocked on your office door, wishing to talk to you about some report that you had sent over to him. Your desperation to get out of the refresher outweighed your pride as you banged loudly on the metal door, begging him to help you out and find a way to open the door. He had tried everything to open the door by himself, but after trying everything he could, he had to call in reinforcements.
Now, you were leaning against the counter, towel covering your modesty as Torrent Company tried to either break down the door (Hardcase had swiftly received a slap off someone for that suggestion); or slice the mechanics/electrics of the door to at least slide it open to get you out of there. That suggestion was greatly preferred.
âMeshâla, how you doing in there?â Rex called through the door. He sounded quite close to it and you shuffled forward so that he could hear you better over the small curses of his men and the sound of tools.
âIâm fine Captain, just⊠bit cold in hereâ you admitted, rubbing up and down your arms to try and bring some warmth into them. It had been about half an hour since you got out of the shower, and the cool metal of the room was not helping you at all.
âWeâll warm you up as soon as you as we get you out of hereâ Hardcase assured, followed swiftly by a cry of pain.
âHardcase!â
âWhat?! It was a joke! Lighten up a little Dogma!â Hardcase complained, not sounding a bit sorry about what he said. You couldnât help but let out a small snicker, used to the cloneâs brand of humour.
âKnock it off you two. How are we in getting this door open?â Rex rebuked, bringing them back on task.
âItâs not looking good. Looks like it might be a manual overrideâ you heard Jesse admit quietly. Groaning at your misfortune, you began to pace up and down, as much as you could anyway in the tiny refresher. âDonât worry, cyare, weâll get you out of there soonâ Jesse promised, not wanting to upset you even more.
âBoys, perhaps we should get a service droid in to fix it?â you suggested, leaning your head against the metal door. It was soothing and brought you out of your head a little.
âWeâve got this, cyarâika! They teach us slicing in ARC trainingâ Fives bragged, making his brothers groan and tell him to shut up.
âIf that was the case, Rex would have been able to get me out. This rate, Iâm going to have to give my briefings through the door dressed in a towel!â you complained, unable to help the little pout that pulled at your lips. It was the least you deserved, especially as you had a morning briefing with the Admiral and Generals.
âAt least youâd look hot, cyarâika!â Fives flirted with you, making you smile.
âNot helping Fives!â you chuckled, going back to pacing again.
There was a large creak before lots of cursing and cries of pain. âWhat happened?â you demanded, rushing to the door and trying to pry it open with your bare hands.
âThese diâkuts pulled the wrong circuits and got shocked for their troubles!â a grumbled voice came from further away in your office. You knew that voice, even if it was the same as his millionsâ of brothers. Kix was here. Rex must have called him when he had went to get the others.
âYour bedside manner needs work vod!â Jesse complained, shaking his head and going back to the door along with Fives and Hardcase.
âRex! You called Kix? But Iâm fine. Iâm not hurt at all!â you argued with the Captain. Now there was even more people to witness your shame and embarrassment.
âJust a precaution, Meshâla. You canât be too carefulâ Rex answered, and you could already imagine the smirk on his face at that. You didnât like to be checked over by the medics, especially if there were clones who were also injured. You would rather put them in front of you.
âHey, I think weâve got it. Stand away from the door maâamâ Tup soft voice warned you. It warmed your inside at how caring these boys was to you.
âThanks Tup, but thereâs not much room in here if it falls inâ you informed him, standing as far back as you can.
âOh wait a minute! I think thatâs it!â Fives muttered, voice rising in excitement. By the force you hoped that they had finally got it.
âThereâs a piece right there!â Hardcase pointed out, tinkling with the tools in his hand.
âYou see that piece right there?â Dogma asked, leaning over his brothersâ shoulders to poke at it. Kix pulled him back before he could get sparked.
âYeah, yeah, I see it. Hold onâ Jesse grunted, trying to move around Hardcase to be able to fix it in place.
âJust hold it right there, no. Not there, diâkut, where Iâm pointing! Tup keep the torch still!â Fives grumbled, as his brothers were not helping him at all. You sighed, it had been like this for half an hour, all of them sniping and snapping at each other.
âNo, you have to pull it up to the sideâ Hardcase argued instead.
âI am keeping it still!â Tup added.
âSomeone just get General Skywalker! Iâm sure heâd be able to fix it in no time!â you begged, desperate to get out of the kriffing refresher and into bed to catch a few hours of sleep before you had to go back to work.
âMen!â Rexâs sharp voice cut through their argument. âDonât worry meshâla, I promise theyâre nearly done. Just a few more minutesâ Rex soothed, hearing how frazzled you were becoming with the situation.
Sighing heavily, you waited for the door to open. You loved these idiots, but god did you feel like killing them right now. They could have their arguments later, but all you wanted was to get out. You didnât want to be stuck in a refresher all your life. There was plans on the horizon for your future, not dying in the refresher because of the kriffing door!
There was a loud twang and your heart leapt into your throat as you hoped it was the mechanism for the door. But still nothing happened. It kept stubbornly in itâs jam.
âI wouldnât drive it in thoughâ Dogma frowned, shaking his head at his brothersâ rough work with the delicate pieces of machinery.
âShut up Dogma!â Jesse huffed back.
âHe almost had it then!â Hardcase assured his brother, as the wire in front of them shifted back to where it wasnât meant to be.
âWhoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Donât push it!â
âAHH FIVES! I said DONâT push it!â Jesse cried, as he almost had it again but it slipped through his fingers as Fives moved his screwdriver slightly.
âWell I thought you meant push it!â Fives complained, and you couldnât help but laugh, burying your head into your hands. The vode always made you laugh, even in the direst of situations.
There was some rattling and without any resistance, the doors pulled apart, revealing the group of men by the door. Hardcase, Jesse, Fives and Dogma was squashed around the panel housing the controls. Tup standing behind them, torch in hand. Rex and Kix was standing in the doorway, both of them looking you over.
âOoh!â you squeaked out, clutching onto your towel tighter.
Rex, realising that him and his men was getting a good look at you in your towel, quickly snapped out of his heated gaze and turned to address the men. âEyes front and centre soldiers!â he barked out, making them snap to attention and face forward.
âEr⊠Captain⊠Iâm still front and centreâ you mumbled, heat rushing to your cheeks as Fives winked at you.
âOh⊠right⊠sorry Meshâla. Avert your eyes!â Rex ordered, voice wavering slightly. If you didnât know any better, you could have sworn that the Captainâs cheeks were becoming a little redder.
âHey, cyarâika, how are you feeling? Any shaking? Signs of hypothermia?â Kix asked, jumping straight into his medic role as he came over to scan you.
âHow come he gets to look?â Hardcase complained, making you blush even more.
âBecause Iâm a medic, and a professional! You might want to look that up, vod!â Kix retorted, before turning back to you. âAnyway, are you experiencing any symptoms of dizziness, nausea?â Kix questioned, running an eye over you as you shivered slightly.
âIâm fine. Just a bit dizzy and tired⊠and hungryâ you admitted, rubbing the back of your neck abashedly.
âHmm, we should get you sitting down and something to help warm you upâ Kix nodded, turning to his commanding officer. Rex nodded, instructing Tup to go and get you something warm from the mess hall.
âThank you guys, I donât know what I would do without youâ you bid the troopers behind Kix. Tup nodded swiftly and hurried out the room, the back of his neck colouring.
âCome sit downâ Rex encouraged, hand coming over to your elbow to help guide you into your office and onto the couch that you had smuggled in with the menâs help last time that you were planet-side.
Rex and Kix helped you to sit down, Kix busying with making sure that you were okay and not hiding anything. âHonestly Kix, Iâd tell you if I werenât doing good. Iâm just a bit cold, thatâs all. I promise, nothing to worry aboutâ you assured, not noticing the towel fall open on your thigh.
Rex coughed, making his men spin around, mumbling apologies and excuses not to look your way. âI think thatâs enough gawking for one night. Youâre dismissedâ Rex stated, crossing his arms and standing in front of you, trying to block you from sight.
âWait! Before you go, youâll have to let me know how I can repay you for thisâ you called after them, resting your hand on Rexâs back to help push him gently to one side so you could see your rescuers.
âYou can buy us a drink at 79âs if you really wantâ Jesse suggested, making you beam. That was an easy thing for you to do to repay them for their kindness and help.
âDone!â you agreed, before you remembered a conversation with General Kenobi last time you were on shore leave with the 212th. âWait! I thought you got drinks free at 79s!â you frowned, as they were nearly out the door.
âOh the beer we do. The cocktails⊠well thatâs all on you now cyareâ Fives teased, before pushing Dogma and Jesse out the door in front of him.
You gaped after their retreating forms. What had you just gotten yourself into?
âI hope you have a lot of money, adâikaâ Kix shook his head, finishing his checks on you and pulling the scanner down.
âBecause theyâre going to bleed you dry, Meshâlaâ Rex chuckled wryly, amused at your surprised at being played by his men.
Misc. Clones x Twi'lek!Reader
Iâve had this idea in my head for a while, soâŠ.enjoy?
Cw: Twiâlek stereotyping, Speciesism, reader is a twiâlek, gender neutral pronouns, reader is falsely accused in the last set
Minors DNI (even though theres no smut)
501st Legion:
âHey tail-head! Why not come here and give me a dance?âÂ
You paused in what you were doing, turning to stare at the one who said such a thing.Â
He was wearing white armor, and clearly a shiny.Â
Rex
Ex-fucking-cuse me?Â
Rex is going to step between you and the shiny, helmet off and clearly pissed.
âCare to repeat that, trooper?â
His glare is steady. Heâs not going to raise his voice or shout but by GOD if looks could kill.Â
The shiny is going to start tripping over his words to apologize but Rex isnât having any of itÂ
âYou see that gunship over there? Youâre scrubbing the entirety of it with your toothbrush. Now get moving.â
He isnât having ANY of that shit in his legion.Â
Speciesism? Not in his fucking house.Â
After the shiny is hauling ass, heâs going to check on you.Â
âIâm sorry, cyare. Iâll make sure that doesnât happen again.âÂ
Rex isnât a fool. Heâs traveled all around the galaxy. He's worked with General Secura. Heâs well aware of the stereotypes surrounding your people.Â
He wonât tell you, but whenever someone says any sort of twi-lek slur within earshot, heâs making them run laps around the Resolute.Â
Fives
Heâs going to be speechless for a solid second.Â
Someone??? Just said that??? To his meshâla?
Oh fuck no.
Fives is going to get in the shinyâs face and just growl, âYou have some balls, rookie.âÂ
This is an ARC trooper who is not above breaking some rules.Â
One of those rules is putting a shiny in their place
Fives is going to push them back hard enough to make them stumble, âSay it again and I'll throw you out of an airlock.â
Once the shiny had gotten the message and rushed away, Fives will drape an arm around you
Heâll peck your cheek, âThey shouldnât bother you again, meshâla.â
Fives finds you to be incredible, but he knows that there will be individuals who have opinions on you just because of the stereotypes surrounding twi-leks.Â
Heâll definitely get in the face of anyone who gives you a hard time.
After sometime, it becomes pretty well known that Fivesâ S/O isnât to be messed with.
Kix
The medic is less confrontational.
He also knows you can handle yourself, but heâll cast a glance your way to see if your alright
If you're ignoring the shiny and moving on, he will too.
But if you look uncomfortable/upset thatâs when heâll say something
âJust ignore them,â He tries his best with comfort, but he knows you shouldnât HAVE to ignore such words.
If the shiny says something else to you, that's when heâll confront them.
âIf you donât walk away, I just might forget to give you painkillers when you get shot in the next battle.â
That tends to shut the shinies up. Afterall, pissing off the medic is a bad idea
Once you're alone, Kix will put a comforting hand on your shoulder.Â
While he hates the twiâlek stereotype, he knows he canât really say anything to make it go away. This is most likely a constant background noise in your life, and that wonât magically disappear in a day.
Though, he will go to Rex and tell him what happened. Kix canât change the whole galaxy but he can at least make the 501st more welcoming
Jesse
He thinks it's a joke at first, maybe some playful ribbing.Â
Afterall, he does the same with his own brothers.Â
But one look at your face and heâs snapped into gear.
âGood one, brother!â The ARC trooper will put his arm over the shinyâs shoulder, âI got a better one.â
Jesse will lean in close, âIf you say something like that again, Iâll personally make you swallow your own teeth, got it?â
He says this with a smile.Â
At first the shiny thinks HEâS joking, but then Jesseâs grip gets tighter, and his smile is gone.
âI mean it.â
Once the shiny is gone, heâs going to kiss you.
Heâs another one who will go to Rex. This isnât something your lover wants you to deal with, especially from his own brothers.Â
He expects better from them. Even if they're a shiny
If it happens again, that's when Jesse makes good on his threats.
Heâs an ARC trooper. He didnât get the rank by looking pretty.
He also gets a reputation of being protective, so the next batch of shinies that join the 501st already know to be respectful.
Clone Force 99
âHey, tail-head, why donât you and I go somewhere and you can show me some of those twiâlek dances up close?â
You sighed, looking back to see a bounty hunter of some sort with a disgusting grin on their face.Â
Omega was next to you, brow furrowed, âTail-head? Whyâd they call you that?â
Hunter
âOh shut it.â is his first response.
If the bounty hunter opens their mouth again, Hunter's second response is to throw a punch.
This is the man that brought his fists to a food fight. His first reaction will be to silence the bounty hunter, his second is to shut their mouth in a physical way.Â
Yea, heâs not above assault.Â
Once the stranger is on the ground, thatâs when Hunter speaks again
âThink twice before you say something stupid next time.âÂ
Heâs going to give you a concerned look and put a hand on your shoulder
âYou ok, Cyare?âÂ
Heâs also aware of the stereotype surrounding twi-leks, and he wonât let anyone give you a hard time.Â
He kneels next to Omega and essentially teaches her what stereotypes are
He emphasizes that theyâre wrong, and she shouldnât ever assume things based on stereotypes
Anyone who says âtail-headâ in his vicinity theyâre losing teeth.
Heâs aware violence isnât going to change opinions, but he isnât going to stand for anyone throwing slurs at you
Hunter cares for you so much, he just wants you to feel comfortable and safe.
Wrecker
He doesnât think those vile words are being thrown at you at first. Heâll look to you for confirmation.
When it finally clicks, he stands between you and the stranger. He doesnât even need to say anything, just glares down at them.
After the bounty hunter gets the hint, Wrecker will turn to you and Omega.
âYou canât say that again, ok âmega? Thatâs a bad insult to twiâleks.â
He doesnât freak out or draw attention to what Omega parrotted. Heâs well aware sheâs a kid and doesn't entirely know better.
Wrecker may be a bit dense at times, but heâs not stupid.
He knows exactly what the stranger was getting at saying such things to you.
âGood thing theyâre gone, right meshâla?â Heâll ask, holding your face.
He puts an arm around you and the three of you head back to the ship.
He likes to act as your protector. He knows you can handle yourself, but he just likes to feel like he's protecting you. Afterall youâre precious to him.
His heart breaks if you tell him this has happened before.
He is UNHAPPY that this is something you deal with.
He knows the twiâlek stereotype exists, itâs justâŠdifferent when it's you.
Honesty, heâll take this to heart and step-in if he sees something like this happen to another twiâlek.
Heâs not going to be a bystander anymore. And Omega definitely learns from his example.
Tech
âWell, that is entirely unnecessary.âÂ
He wonât pick a fight. He thinks itâs best to ignore instigators.Â
He also knows that arguing or snapping at the bounty hunter may make things worse
Heâll grab your hand and lead you and Omega away
If the stranger follows, heâll turn a corner, put you and omega behind him and set his blaster on stun
Once the bounty hunter turns the corner, Tech will shoot them.
âThere.â He says, putting his blaster away, âShouldnât bother us anymore.â
Once you three are back at the ship, heâll kiss your forehead before speaking to Omega
âTail-head is a slur to twiâlek individuals. Itâs supposed to insult someone's lekku. You must never say it again.â
Tech is very much aware of both the stereotypes and their origin.
If someone gives you a hard time or throws more insults at you, heâs not going to stand for it.
He has very little patience for ignorance.
Echo
Barely stops himself from throwing hands instantly.
âYou want to say that again?â Heâs going to get in the bounty hunter's face very quickly, âSay it again. I dare you.â
Echo is a damn ARC trooper. He can make the stranger eat their words.
But, heâll hold back, for your sake.Â
If the bounty hunter doesnât back down, he casts a glance at you.
Give the greenlight? It's a fight.
You want to move on and forget this happened? He backs down.
Heâll return to your side and just start grumbling, âIgnorant assholeâŠif they open their mouth again, I swearâŠâ
 He gets really upset about this. And he knows it wasnât the first time nor will it be the last time this happens to you.Â
When you're not within earshot, heâll explain to Omega why âtail-headâ is not something to be repeated.Â
Echo is patient with her. Sheâs just a child.
But like Tech, he had no patience for ignorance from anyone else.
Will snap at anyone who says âtail-headâ or other twiâlek insults within earshot.
Crosshair
While everyone has some form of restraint, Crosshair does not.
Itâs an immediate brawl.
His patience is a negative 2 when it comes to this type of stuff.
The bounty hunter hadnât even blinked before Crosshair knocked them down.
Heâs pretty silent, returning to your side and putting an arm around you.
Heâll look at Omega and just say a simple, âDonât say that again.â
Pretty blunt to be honest.
Crosshair is protective. More so than even Wrecker.
His mind is already running, analyzing your surroundings and seeing who else may make snide remarks.
Afterall, if one person was able to say something like that, how many more are there?
Heâll ask how often this happens.
Depending on your answer heâs either slightly annoyed or pissed.
No one should be giving you a hard time simply because you're twiâlek.
Once back at the ship, heâs going to keep a hand or arm on you in any way possible.
He loves you, and he doesnât want you to ever feel ashamed or bad for being twiâlek.
212th Battalion:
âHey, I didnât know the 212th got its own personal dancer,â The shiny slid next to you, âWhat do you say? Wanna give the boys and I a moral booster?â
You blinked, eyes wide. That was an entirely new oneâŠ
Cody:
After Ryloth, he thought his men would behave better than that. So heâs genuinely caught off guard.
âYou have 2 seconds to take back what you said, rookie.â He snaps, glaring.
After a stumbling apology is given to you, Cody continues with his death stare, âI expect better from you. You will treat them and every other alien species with respect. Do I make myself clear?â
Very much not happy about this.
If one shiny said something like that to you, who else stereotypes twiâleks?
Itâs not just about you, Cody really expects much better from the 212th.
If one person acts like a moron, it reflects badly on the 212th, General Kenobi and the GAR.
They are soldiers of the Republic in a very diverse galaxy.Â
However, heâll turn his attention back to you and grab your hand.
âIâll make sure that never happens again, I promise.âÂ
Heâs incredibly sweet about it.
Boil:
Instant shame.
This is how he used to sound!?
âHey!â Heâll snap at the shiny, âShow some damn respect.â
In a way, heâs trying to compensate for his ignorance earlier in the war.
Before Ryloth, he used to throw around âtail-headâ all the time. Something he looks back at in shame.
It was Numa, and now you that made him realize how much of a bastard he used to be.
If the shiny persists, Boil will get up in his face, âBack off. Now.â
If something like this happens again, Boil will go to Cody.
Like the commander, Boil also expects better from the 212th
But also, he wants you to feel comfortable among his brothers.
âIâm sorry,â He wonât exactly look at you. He knows the shinyâs behavior isnât his fault, but he canât help but feel shame and embarrassment anyway.
A bit later, heâll hold your hand and just admit, âI used to be like him. Ignorant and self-centeredâŠIâm sorry.â
Boil loves you so dearly. He just wanted to be honest.
He respects however you react
Waxer
Another one who feels shame.
Yea he didnât throw around âtail-headâ or see twiâleks as lesser, but he stood by while others did.
After Ryloth and Numa, he doesnât stand by anymore.
âOh shut up!â Heâll snap, âGo throw yourself out of an airlock.â
Waxer is a learner. Heâs learned more about your people. Your history. Your culture.Â
He's also learned the stereotypes. Where they've come from.
So, he knows what the shiny is getting at by speaking to you.
this guy painted Numa on his helmet. Heâs definitely not going to let anyone disrespect you in any way shape or form because of your species.
He wonât get physical, but he will threaten.Â
Once the shiny is gone, heâll put a hand on your cheek, âIâm sorry. Iâll knock some sense into him later, I promise.â
Coruscant Guard
âHey!âÂ
Your Coruscant Guard lover was walking you home when someone grabbed your shoulder and turned you around.Â
âGuard! Arrest this twiâlek thief! I know they stole my credits straight out of my pocket!â The pantoran woman yelled right in your face.
When you argued, she just yelled louder, âAll twiâleks are conniving thieves! Give me back my credits!â
Of course you didnât steal anything, but this pantoran seemed convinced that you did. All because you were twiâlek.
Fox
The headache was immediate.
âMaâam, I assure you they haven't gone anywhere near you.â
He wants to defend you more staunchly, but heâs the commander of the CG.
Thereâs only so much he can do without risking reprimand.
If the pantoran persists, heâll get rougher, but remain professional.
âMaâam if you donât walk away, I will arrest you for wasting Coruscant Guard resources.â
The best he can do, frankly.
This isnât the first time heâs seen an innocent twiâlek be accused of a crime.
It happens more than heâd wish to admit.
Honestly, he hates it, but there's protocol in place and he's obligated to follow.
But he knows you're innocent. You were beside him the entire time.
Plus, he loves you. Heâs not going to search you.
If she keeps giving you a hard time, Fox will step forward, âLast chance, I will throw you in a cell for the night if you donât keep walking.â
Usually that works.
Heâll keep you close until you're safely home. He wonât talk about it if you donât.
Though, he does end up telling the guard to be more mindful of random accusations against twiâleks.
Thorn
âOh here we goâŠâ
HeâsâŠnot taking this woman seriously at all.
âI have seen no such thing. Please make a report to the police.â Heâll just deadpan before walking away.
Petty crime such as a pickpocket is 1-800-not-his-job.
Heâll drape an arm over your shoulder and pull you closer to him.
Like Fox, heâs seen people blame twiâleks solely based on stereotypes
And his response is always the same, âEither show me solid evidence or take it to the police.â
If you say this isnât the first time, Thorn kinda squeezes your shoulder.
âDonât worry, love.â Heâll whisper, âthe boys and I wonât let anyone accuse you of anything.â
He makes good on the promise. If anyone tries to give you a hard time for being twiâlek, there's usually a Coruscant Guard that steps in.
A partner to one of the Guard is well taken care of.
Hound:
Heâs going to look at the woman, then look at you, then look at Grizzer.Â
He whistles once, and Grizzer licks your hand.
Grizzer just likes you, this isnât any sort of actual search.
âThey donât have your credits. Move along or go to a police droid.âÂ
Since the massiff didnât âfindâ anything, the pantoran woman leaves you alone.
âHappen often?â Hound is going to ask you quietly when the two of you start walking again.
When you nod, he doesnât respond.Â
Like the rest of the guard, he knows your people often get falsely accused of crimes.
Having a massiff with a good sense of smell makes it quick and easy to find out if they actually committed the alleged crime.
More often than not, the falsely accused is innocent.
But he knows he canât be with you all the time. You have your own jobs to do.
One minor fear of his is you getting accused and then thrown into a cell.
All because you are twiâlek
He knows his brothers wonât do such a thing, but police droids arenât so flexible or understanding.
address the letters: âto the holes in my butterfly wingsâ
pairing: Kix and GN padawan reader (platonic)
Word count, guys itâs basically 10 K đbc apparently I am in capable of writing anything short.
tags/warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, fluff, mentions of blood and injury, medical procedures
summary:
In which, the CMO of Torrent Company discovers that you, a Padawan under his care have been hiding injuries and skipping medical checks, and now must take care of you as you suffer the consequences of your actions.
Also known as
Why you should never hide an injury from Kix. he will find out, and he will drag you off to the medbay so that he can take care of whatever mess youâve made of yourself, scolding you all the wile.
âLook what I found on my bunk.â
Youâre interrupted from eating your sandwich in the Cantina when Fives plops down beside you at the table, setting down a tray of food and waving a pink slip of paper in your face.
Youâre about to tell him that âCanât you see that youâre eating and get this paper out of my face,â when your eyes catch on three words written in bold text across the top of the page.
Mandatory vaccination updates.Â
The sandwich, that up until this point has been the absolute centre of your attention, listen, youâre fighting a war and you have to appreciate any opportunity that you get to eat food that isnât bland ration bars, drops out of your suddenly limp hand as you snatch up the paper, now very interested in the contents.
âWhen did you get this?â you ask slowly, youâre voice distracted, beginning to chew on your lower lip, already feeling the nervous coil in your stomach.
âWhen I came back to my bunk after the debriefing we had this afternoon. Apparently everyone got one. I bet you 10 credits that your master is going to pretend that he didnât see it, and try and avoid it until Kix has to tear apart the ship looking for him and drag him to the medbay.â Fives chuckles.
Master Skywalkerâs reputation for trying to avoid the medbay at all costs is widely known throughout Torrent Company..
âKix is going to have a field day. Iâll give it to general Skywalker, he has some creative hiding places,â he continues, eyes lighting up at the memory of Anakin, half hazardously crammed into a supply closet, folded in an impressive, yet uncomfortable looking position as he forced his unwitting tall limbs to fit in the cramped space.
Unfortunately for Kix, your masters habit of avoiding the medbay whenever possible has rubbed off on you, though, you donât think itâs for the same reason. Your avoidance stems from a place of fear, and, okay, a stubborn insistence that you can take care of yourself, which yes, definitely like master, like apprentice.
But that also stems from a fear. Youâre determined to prove yourself, especially being a young Padawan working with those who are much more experienced than you. You donât want to risk being taken off the field because of some stupid injury, and letting those who rely on you down, especially your master, whoâs always bouncing back and getting up and ready to take on whatever is next regardless of what kind of peril heâs just come out of. You want, you need, to prove that just because youâre a Padawan, youâre not a liability, but an asset. You can be strong and resilient like master Skywalker.
So, you avoid. You dodge and you ignore and you pretend not to notice when the routine medical check dates come and go without your attendance. You know itâs only a matter of time before Kix gets on your ass about it. Youâre surprised that youâve kept it up this long. But, this only bolsters your confidence in being able to avoid another successfully.
âIâll be right back,â you say, trying to sound nonchalant, setting the paper back down on the table before you run off into the crowd.
*
Sure enough, there is an identical slip of paper thatâs been placed on your bunk. But conveniently, Jedi master Aayla Secura is going on a diplomatic mission to amid rim planet in a last ditch effort to try and convince them not to secede from the republic during the date thatâs listed on the page when youâre scheduled for your vaccinations.
Earlier this morning, master Skywalker had asked if you had wanted to join this mission, saying that it would give you a break from being on the frontlines, and it would be easy enough to arrange, as master Secura would rendezvous with the 501st before she departed.
This morning, you had turned him down, listing several reasons as to why you needed to stay with the 501st. Your troops needed you, diplomatic missions were boring anyways, and you didnât think that you would be of much help to the experienced and capable master Secura, who was a formidable diplomat in her own right. You didnât think you would be able to add anything of particular value to the conversation, at least nothing that master Secura wouldnât be able to say much more eloquently and better.
Now though, the only thing thatâs running through your mind is the fear of needles and the dread of going into the medbay and thatâs enough to make you reconsider everything you had said.
When you tell master Skywalker that youâve changed your mind, and would actually like to accompany Aayla on her mission, heâs slightly confused considering you had been so adamant that you were needed here only just a few hours ago.Â
But, he knows that as a Jedi, you need diplomatic experience. Experience that, before the war, would be very easy for Padawanâs to come by. He knows that you donât have nearly as much as you should.
These are unprecedented times, though, and Padawanâs being trained during an active war is not ideal. He wants for you to be well-rounded. He has hope that your future wonât always involve war at the centre of it, and any opportunity that you get to learn how to be a keeper of peace should always be encouraged, especially during these times.
 So he gives in pretty easily, and when master Secura arrives, you happily join her. When the ramp of the ship seals behind you and youâre sitting with her in the cockpit, the warm relief that flows through your bones is palpable.Â
âSuccess,â you think to yourself triumphantly.
*
Your triumph, however glorious it might have felt in the moment, is short-lived.
In spite of the fact that some old injuries, that you honestly thought you had done a pretty good job at taking care of yourself, were starting to aggravate you again, the unexpected joy and relief that weaved itself through the force, openly shared between you and master Secura, surrounded you like a warm blanket, protecting you from feeling the things that hurt you.
The planet you had just visited had agreed to stay with the republic, after a tense three days of debate between its political factions. The victory Was a surprise, considering how vehemently the opposition pushed to secede, but it was not unwelcome.
Aaylaâs T-6 shuttle docks in the hanger bay of the much larger 501st transport. As you wait for the doors to open and the ramp to fold down before you, youâre still riding on that high, feeling, for the first time in a long time, the thrill of a success. One that you are unable to feel on the frontlines, because even when your battles result in a victory, you are surrounded by so much death and violence that in the end, you donât really feel like celebrating.Â
Youâll never admit it to your master, but privately, you think to yourself that maybe diplomatic missions arenât as boring as you thought they were. You were able to help resolve a conflict, peacefully, without even having to brush your fingers against the hilt of your lightsaber, which, nowadays, is becoming more and more of a rare occurrence. But itâs what Jedi do, or at least, what theyâre supposed to do, so you have to embrace the gratitude of the experience you just had, and try and take it with you going forward.
Your thoughts are preoccupied with these ideas swirling around your head, so you donât see him until youâre stepping out onto the ramp of the T-6, descending into the hectic and busy as usual crowds of the hanger bay.
When you do, though, you stop dead, and your heart begins to race.Â
Shit.
Directly in front of you, at the bottom of the ramp, stands Kix.
One look at his expression, and your stomach flips.
His lips are set in a thin, unreadable line, his brow creased as he observes you with pinpoint focus. Stern, brown eyes observe your every movement. Thereâs no question that the second you step off the ramp, heâs going to pounce on you like a cat seizing a mouse.Â
He stands at attention, body forced into an unbending straight line, such positions you mostly see on the shinyâs, new troopers who are freshly trained during their first days out on the field. His hands are placed on his hips, the position that he assumes before heâs about to give someone, itâs usually your master who youâve seen it directed at, the lecture of their life.
âKeep moving,â your brain supplies. âAct nonchalant, and maybe, just maybe, youâll be fine.â
You feel your feet hit solid ground, and your speed picks up, all along, your brain is screaming at you to move. Itâs weird how now that heâs standing in front of you, every injury youâve accumulated over the past weeks is beginning to hit you, all comfort and protection that the force has been giving you to keep you going rapidly vanishing with each step you take.
The uncomfortable angle that your shoulder is sitting at, the pulling of stitches in your leg as you increase your speed. It throbs and aches with sudden abandon. But your fists clench, and you do your best not to falter under Kixâs unwavering scrutiny, just knowing that heâs looking for any flicker of weakness, any sign of pain that registers on your face.
âJust keep going, and maybe, youâll be able to slip past...â
He steps in front of you, reaching an arm out to easily intercept your path. He says your name, in a tone that breaches absolutely no room for trying to ignore it.
You jump, startled in spite of yourself. Heâs effectively got you cornered, and seeing that thereâs no way out of this, Your nerves begin to skyrocket, raising like the sound of alarm bells in your head. You look up, eyes meeting his unwaveringly stern expression, And suddenly, you wish that the floor would open up and swallow you whole.
He looks down at you, and he must see something in your disposition that belies your true feelings, because though his face remains set, his eyes somewhat soften, and when he next speaks, his voice is quiet but firm.
âCome with me, please. I need to see you in the medbay.â Though heâs phrased it as a request, you know that it is an order, and one that you must follow.
As a medic for the GAR, and this is something that youâve heard him say to many a complaining troopers being escorted to the medbay when they donât want to go, it is well within his rights to exercise such authority and make these orders. Because when it comes to the health and safety of every 501st personnel, whether youâre a Jedi general, commander, or Padawan, Kix immediately outranks you.
You look down at the floor, suddenly finding the marks that are speckled across it very interesting, and mumble a defeated and quiet âYes sir.âÂ
When he turns, and you hesitate to follow, he lets out a gentle sigh, moving to place a hand on the small of your back. His voice is low, but reassuring as he ushers you forward.
âCome on, kid, youâre okay,â he breathes, and in spite of the fact that youâre still thinking that jumping out of an airlock would be better than this, your feet, still unwilling, but the slightest bit reassured, begin to move.
*
Coric giving you a subtle pitying glance as heâs reading over a patientâs chart when Kix escorts you into the medbay makes you want to vomit.
Between the two medics,  Kix has the reputation of being a hardass because heâs the CMO. Make no mistake, you do not want to get on either of their bad sides. But, given the choice between the two right now, you think youâre more equipped to handle Coric, who can usually be counted on to soften the blow a bit, with enough pleading glances and apologies.
Your eyes flit to the door that youâve just passed through, because stupidly, your brain is still trying to make the calculations that if you can just duck out of Kixâs grasp for two seconds, youâd be able to make a run for it.
Unbeknownst to you, however, both medics have been carefully observing your every movement since youâve entered. Coric, remaining completely calm and at ease, rises to his feet, moving swiftly to stand in the doorway in several long strides. He casually leans against the frame, arms folded.
âDonât even think about it, baby Jedi. Your master has attempted the same thing you are considering, and he has always failed,â he says, keeping his voice light and non-threatening, making it clear that you need to give up on your fantasy of bolting out of here, but also not trying to scare you off..
Youâre just beginning to wonder how the kriff they were able to read you so easily, with one covert glance determining that you were about to bolt when Kix removes his hand from the small of your back, instead, fingers coming to gently grip your shoulder.
The change in his hold is obvious. He is fully prepared for if you try to run. He gives your shoulder a squeeze, in what you interpret as a warning not to.Â
Unfortunately, heâs just touched on an injury, youâre not entirely sure what you did, but you messed up your shoulder the last time you were on the field, and even the slight pressure elicits a sharp intake of breath that youâre unable to stop from escaping your lips, and that immediately has the attention of both medics laser focussed on you.
Kixâs anticipation evaporates and quickly melts into concern. Carefully, so carefully, he turns you to face him, keen eyes sharp as they analyze your face.
âHey,â he calls softly, waiting for you to look at him. âTell me where it hurts,â he says, so gently that it makes your eyes burn with shame. You look down at your feet.
âThatâs uh... thatâs, a loaded question,â you admit sheepishly, trying to keep your tone light and joking, in spite of the fact that now that youâre thinking about it, the list of injuries youâve sustained without reporting to the medbay is a lengthy one, and might make Kix have a stroke.
Kix lets out a controlled, slow breath, eyes momentarily finding the ceiling as he silently begs the stars to give him strength.Â
âKaysh Mirsh solus,â he mutters to himself.
Youâve heard Kix toss that phrase around the medbay on multiple occasions, and though youâre uncertain of what it actually means, he usually brings it out when one of his brothers has done something that he would consider incredibly stupid, which is often.
Coric makes a noise of agreement. âIt appears that our stupidly self-sacrificing general has passed on his stupid self sacrificing behaviour onto his apprentice,â he groans. âWill we ever know a day of peace?âÂ
Kix looks back down at you, his expression calm and restrained. âCome on, then, letâs see what weâre dealing with here,â moving his hand to your uninjured shoulder, he steers you both further into the medbay.
*
Your eyes donât leave the ground, but you can hear the sound of a privacy curtain being pulled shut around the cubicle that Kix has brought you to.Â
When an eerily familiar pink slip of paper is being held up in front of your downcast eyes, you cringe, Arms wrapping around yourself in defence
You canât even pretend that you havenât seen it before, because the words mandatory vaccination updates have been circling around your brain the whole time you were out on your last mission.
âDo you know why the GAR enforces these?â Kix begins, and his voice is too measured and calm.Â
You lift a brow, questioning. Does he seriously expect you to answer this? Isnât the answer obvious?Â
âUh... so that we donât get sick?â You answer, uncertain as to what heâs getting at.
He nods, his face displaying a slight flicker of approval. âYes, that is one reason as to why, and itâs an acceptable one,â he acknowledges. His frown deepens as he continues. âHowever, one must look at the much larger picture, at every personnel aboard this ship. The most important reason why mandatory vaccinations are enforced is so that we can avoid many people getting sick and spreading illness to the rest of the crew, so that we may remain fully functional and operational, continuing to serve and protect the people of the republic.â
You squirm beneath the scrutiny of his gaze. Youâre starting to see where heâs going with this, and itâs incredibly discomforting.
âI wouldâve thought, that as a Jedi, you would be able to more easily see this bigger picture than most others,â he observes mildly. âAfter all, I know, and Iâm sure everyone who spends a considerable amount of time with you can see that there is so much compassion and care for others within your very nature.â
His voice is so genuine, laced with such real kindness in his tone that it makes your eyes sting. Your heart constricts, because heâs just pointed out something that you hadnât even considered in your selfish haste to avoid this.
By avoiding your vaccinations, you have put every member of the 501st who works with you in danger.
Your arms wrap  tighter around yourself, and you canât bring yourself to look anywhere but at the pristine white floor beneath your feet.
Kix senses that heâs hit a mark, and his voice gentles considerably. âI also understand that you are young, and still learning to see the bigger picture and how your actions can affect those around you.â
âI, I didnât, I was scared and I just I didnât think about...â your voice trembles as you try to answer, tumbling out in a rush of words that race as quickly as your heart.Â
âI understand, and it is perfectly reasonable for you to feel that way,â he keeps his voice level and measured. âHowever,â he continues, and you know what heâs about to say even before he says it. âWe still have to face the things that scare us. If you had simply told me how you were feeling, we would have figured out a way to navigate it.â His face is reassuring when you dare to glance up from the floor that youâve been resolutely staring at for this whole conversation.
âWe still will figure out the best way to proceed. However, these vaccination updates are very low on my priority list of concerns when it comes to you, compared to this,â and he holds up a datapad, displaying medical records with your name typed neatly across the top.
The last several appointment entries are highlighted in red, indicating that you did not attend any of them.Â
âDo I need to remind you that these appointments are not optional. Any member of Torrent Company who goes out on the field must report to the medbay upon return for examination, as well as attend our regular medical checks to ensure that you are fit for active duty.â Itâs clear from the tone of his voice that this is a lecture that he is very practised in delivering.
You lift your head, finally looking directly at him. Heâs already made you admit a fear that you desperately wanted to keep to yourself. You try and summon what remains of your dignity.Â
âWhat do you want me to say, Kix?â Thereâs a hint of defiance in your voice.Â
âDo you want me to admit that I avoided these because I had injuries that I didnât want you to know about? Because yes, the truth is that I did.â Your eyes level with his as you try to make him understand.Â
âI was scared of the medical procedures, okay? Is that what you wanted to hear?â You snap, not particularly annoyed with him, but more annoyed at the fact that your answers sound so stupid out loud.Â
âBut I was more scared of the fact that you were probably going to take me off the field, and I couldnât, I couldnât let that happen. My master was relying on me. Everyone was relying on me, and I couldnât let them down.â You try to shrug off his concern with a dismissive wave of your hand. âBesides, Iâve been doing fine,â you say evasively.
Kix does not rise to the bate of your seeming anger. Heâs much too practised and controlled to let it affect him. He also has the uncanny ability to look at someone, and see everything, read through their feelings, whether theyâve been acknowledged or not, and understand them. So, even though youâre trying to push him away, with what at first glance appears to be frustration, underneath it all, he can tell that itâs just as plainly  fear.
He meets your storm filled eyes unflinchingly, levelling you with a look that is equal parts stern and unwavering, and equal parts concerned and filled with compassion. It makes your insides twist with guilt, and you want to look away, but you canât bring yourself to as he speaks, his voice calm but steely.
âAre you fine?â he asks, an eyebrow raising as he tilts his head to look at you, his gaze clinical, assessing, even as you just stand there in front of him.
. âI already know that thereâs something wrong with your shoulder. But aside from that, Iâve been observing you since you got off your transport. The way you move is slow and careful, not at all like the usual way you dash around the ship. Even now, youâre hesitating to put much weight on your right leg.â He ticks off the things heâs noticed on his fingers like a list.
âApart from the fact that skipping these mandatory appointments have consequences. If you had kept this up, I wouldâve had to bring this to our superiors, that includes the Jedi council,â he gives you a pointed look, even the mention of the high Council makes you shiver. in your experience, whenever you and your master have been summoned to speak with the council, itâs always to be reprimanded, and never good.
. âYou could have been Court-martialed,â he says, knowing that his words will hit the severity of the situation home. Â
You falter, stepping back as you feel your eyes go wide. âCourt-martialed?â you breathe, feeling the blood draining from your face.Â
He gently takes your arm, guiding you to sit on a bed as he continues, voice softening. âIt is very clear that you are hiding injuries, and though I can understand why, in premise, You did this, the reality is that this will begin to affect your performance in battle. It will not just affect you. You will put yourself, as well as the entirety of the people you are leading, in danger. People could get hurt.  You could get hurt. Because you would be putting not just yourself, but others, in unnecessary danger, your ability to be in the position of a commander could be called into serious  question by your superiors, and for good reasonâÂ
As much as he keeps his voice low and calm, you can sense that heâs disappointed in the way that youâve handled yourself. Your teeth sink into the inside of your cheek, forcing the tears that prick at the back of your eyes to not fall. You hate disappointing people, and the fact that youâve managed to disappoint Kix, one of the kindest people you know, makes you want to curl up into a ball and never show your face in public again.
âAnd that, the safety of yourself, and everyone aboard this ship, is my priority. It is much more important to me than having to report to any superior. The fact that you hold your safety, and by extension, the safety of  those around you, with such blatant disregard, is what concerns me the most, and that is what I need you to understand.âÂ
Thereâs a certain gravity in his voice that youâve never heard before, but it slams into your chest and hits you like a ton of bricks. The implications of what youâve been doing, of what could have happened to those around you, to his brothers, because of your inability to face your fears begin to swirl around your head with a rapidity that makes your heart race.Â
These thoughts come unbidden, and too fast for you to process. The tears, that youâve been so desperately trying to push back, spring free and begin to fall down your cheeks, unprompted, slowly, and silently. You donât have time to stop them from coming.
Kix knows that heâs been very direct, and very blunt with you, deciding that this would be the only way to get through to you. He hates having to do it, though. Kix considers himself to be a fairly good judge of character, and he knows that you have such a caring, gentle heart and strong presence wherever you go. So, watching you break in front of him like this pains him.
Your breath hitches in an unsteady gasp as you look up at him, tears blurring your vision.Â
âIâm sorry, Oriâvod,â your lip trembles as your voice breaks, wanting to curl in on yourself. âNi ceta,â you get out in barely a choked whisper.
But he hears you, and it breaks him.Â
Youâve never referred to him as oriâvod before, and the idea that you consider him as such, as a big brother, awakens his protective, instinctive nature to gather you close and keep you safe from harm.Â
His Vod, mostly his batchmate, Jesse, calls it his mother hen instincts.
He canât help it, though. Your voice, sounding so much smaller than heâs ever heard it, trembling and filled with tears, has broken whatâs left of his resolve, and gently, very gently, mindful of the fact that youâre injured, he takes you into his arms, holding you close to him. Your head buries against his shoulder, and he easily cradles you there, feeling every sharp intake of breath as you cry.
âOh, adika, shh,â he soothes, hand coming up to gently stroke your hair as he continues to speak softly to you. âYouâre okay, I promise, everything is going to be alright. Iâve got you, we are going to sort this out.â
*
âWell,â he says, reading over the results of the medical scan heâs just performed. Would you believe me if I told you that a dislocated shoulder is the least of your concerns?âÂ
Your eyes find the ceiling, and you exhale a slow breath before asking, âhow bad?â
He keeps his voice neutral as he relays the results of the scan to you. âAccording to your last medical check, you were diagnosed with Iron deficiency anemia, not incredibly uncommon, what with our limited access to rations and food with the proper nutrients,â his brow creases as he continues. âHowever, preliminary scans indicate that your haemoglobin levels havenât much improved.â
He gives you a look.âYou have been taking the supplement you were prescribed?â he asks, in a way that makes you suspicious that he already knows that the answer is no.
You avoid looking at him. âI was, but they kept making my stomach feel queasy all day, so I stopped.â Â
Kix Lets out a long suffering sigh. âAn issue that we easily could have rectified by changing your treatment plan if you had just let us know,â he scolds. âNonetheless, Iâd like to do a blood test to get exact confirmation of those levels and see how bad the numbers are so that we can Start getting them back up to baseline.âÂ
Your stomach does a flip and you cringe silently at the mention of a blood test.
Kix continues, consulting the scan results that are displayed on a datapad. âYouâve got untreated burns on your fingers.â He raises a curious eyebrow at you and your cheeks flush.
âThey werenât entirely untreated, I put them under running water,â you try to argue. The unimpressed look he gives you stops you dead in your tracks.
âIt wasnât entirely my fault,â you defend. âI was fixing one of the starfighters that got hit during our last airstrike. I got R2 to help me with the repairs but he wasnât listening to my instructions. He crossed two of the wrong wires and caused the circuitboard to spark.â
âAnd that is why you should never ask R2 for help,â he says with a hint of amusement in his voice. âThose burns werenât given time to heal, and the fact that youâre constantly wielding a lightsaber has exacerbated them. I will apply a burn ointment to them that should take away the pain and speed the process of healing.âÂ
He fixes you with a look. Â
âThe most concerning thing is The blaster wound on the front of your right  calf. Really, vod, you should know that injuries being treated and stitched up on the field, especially when not done by a medic, always should be looked over by a medic as soon as possible, due to the unsanitary environment that they were performed in.â
âTup did his best to stitch it,â you say, feeling the need to defend the brother who, in spite of the fact that he was not a medic, sutured you up as you took cover from separatist battle droids.
âI donât doubt that he did. I was the instructor who took every single one of the troopers on this ship through their mandatory medical courses, and I did not let them pass without proving that they were adequately able to handle emergency first aid on the field. However, it still remains that youâve picked up an infection, and to treat it, the sutures will have to be removed, the wound reopened, and extraction of the infected tissue, as well as a course of both IV and oral antibiotics to clear up anything that remains.â
You stare at him, your eyes growing wide with horror as he explains. âHow?â You ask, alarmed.
He senses your nerves and leans forward, taking your hand and running his thumb along the back of it reassuringly. âThis is a surgical procedure, performed under general anesthesia.âÂ
You flinch at his words, and your fingers tighten around his with anxiety, needing something to hold onto.Â
âI know that sounds scary, especially if youâve never been put under before. But I promise, this is a fairly common operation. Me and Coric will both be here making sure that youâre okay the whole time.â he continues to stroke his thumb along the backs of your knuckles.
âLetâs take this one step at a time, though. Weâll take care of the things that are manageable, first,â he says, giving you an encouraging smile.
*
âHey uh...â you say nervously, watching with anxiety fluttering in your stomach as Kix ties a band just above your elbow, prepping you for the blood draw. The way the band tightens, restricts  and squeezes around your arm Makes you feel trapped. You hate it.
âI have... Iâve had, issues in the past when it comes to these,â you say awkwardly, not knowing how to explain.
Kix only looks up at you, raising a perceptive brow. âAre you referring to your predisposition of fainting whenever a blood draw is performed?â he asks, completely unfazed.Â
Itâs your turn to raise your eyebrows in questioning. âDonât worry, Coric already has this listed in your file. Iâm going to get you to lie down when we do it.â
He has the sensitivity and grace not to mention the fact that he also knows this because he walked into the medbay to find Coric absolutely tearing into a junior medic for letting you leave too soon after you had gotten a blood draw, resulting in you crumpling to the floor in a faint right outside of the medbay doors.Â
At your continued staring, he adds, his voice softening. âItâs a normal reaction, that likely is exacerbated because of your low haemoglobin levels. Thereâs nothing wrong with you, Vodâika.â he reassures, gently guiding you to lay down on the bed. âNow, just lay down for me, and weâll get this over with quickly, and if you faint, you faint. It happens, no big deal, Iâll be right here regardless.â Â
And because youâre you, you do faint.
The needle itself is always not as bad as you anticipate it being. The Sting, though prominent,  is small and quick and over before you have time to fixate on it.Â
Itâs only when heâs pressing a cotton swab into the crook of your arm, encouraging you to keep it in place while he puts a Band-Aid over top, that you register the familiar feeling of drowsiness, vision blurring and ears beginning to ring, that always comes before you pass out.
You think that you might give him some indication, some warning, because heâs removing your hand from where itâs been pressing against the cotton round, replacing it with his own, much more steady one. Everything around you is muffled, and itâs jarring, but in a way that is too far away from your immediate concerns to really react to it.
When you come to, heâs pressing a cool, damp cloth to the back of your neck, other hand gently stroking hair away from your forehead. His voice fades back into your consciousness, a stream of gentle, soothing words as your eyes flutter open.
The feeling of the cloth cools your heated skin, and the hand gently running through your hair brings your senses back to focus, grounding you.
âEasy, adika, iâm right here, youâre safe,â he brushes his fingers against your cheek, and when you react, leaning into his touch, he gives you a small smile. âThatâs it, there we go, youâre back. Everythingâs good,â he soothes, gently stalling your movement when you attempt to sit up.
âNot right now, vod, stay down for a few more minutes. Iâve already got the blood work running through the scanner, and we should have its results quickly, okay.â You give him a small nod, still not really having the energy to do much else. You close your eyes, taking deep breaths as you come back to yourself, and when the scanner beeps, indicating that it completed its diagnostics, you jump slightly.
Kix moves over to check it as you slowly sit up. âOkay, so, your numbers are definitely not nearly where they should be he says, clearly unimpressed.
âBut, Once we have taken care of your more serious injuries, will start you with an iron infusion delivered through an IV before transitioning back to pills. Donât worry, weâll have you on a much smaller dosage so that we can hopefully circumvent the discomfort you had in your stomach,â he says with optimism, which makes you feel slightly better about the fact that heâs just mentioned an IV. Youâre not given much time to fixate on it, though, because heâs already turning away from the scanner, moving back to you.
âLetâs not worry about that right now, though. We have enough problems having to deal with the mess That youâve made of yourself. I will do my best to resist calling you a diâkut as much as possible,â he says, hands on his hips, and in spite of yourself, it actually makes you laugh.
*
You didnât realize how sore and irritated the burns on your hands were until you couldnât hold back the audible sigh of relief that fell from your lips as soon as Kix began applying the burn cream to them. The pain instantly vanished, leaving a pleasant, cooling sensation behind. He wrapped small bacta patches around your injured fingers, explaining that it would make sure that the healing process was unimpeded by the outside environment.
That was easy, quick, painless.Â
Your shoulder, on the other hand, is a completely different matter. As soon as Kix touches it, as gentle as he can be, it flares with pain, and your muscles tense, which just makes it worse.Â
âI donât know how youâve been functioning with this for as long as you have,â he comments dryly. When his fingers press against the bone, assessing the damage with a practised familiarity, you cry out, eyes squeezing shut.
âHaarâchak,â you grit out, as behind you, Kix preps a syringe with local anesthetic.Â
âWhich one of my diâkut brothers taught you curse words in Mandoa?â he asks, beginning to disinfect the injection site.
You flinch at the cold and your cheeks flush. âShit, you werenât supposed to hear that. I canât tell you that, I made a promise.âÂ
âDid you now?â he asks, fighting the amused smirk that plays on his lips. âWell, whoever it was, you might as well put your skills that they taught you to use.â
You look at him from over your shoulder, eyebrows raising in confusion.
He explains, âI need to give you an injection of local anaesthetic so that it takes the edge off of resetting your shoulder correctly. I know those arenât your favourite , so, I am making a deal with you. Let me do this, and I give you free rein to throw whatever Mandoa insult my brothers have taught you at me, no consequences. Is that fair?â
The unimpressed look youâre giving at the syringe turns to surprise, then, slowly, a smile spreads across your face and you nod, quickly looking away from it. âDeal,â you accept, your voice still shaky with nerves but determined.
âOkay, deep breath for me,â He waits for you to inhale. âPerfect, now, on the exhale, give me that insult with all of your might. Ready?â
He waits for you to nod, then prompts you to exhale as he administers the anaesthetic into the back of your shoulder.
âOsiâyaim, that hurt, you diâkut,â what should be just a little pinch to your already injured shoulder makes you cry out the words, and you swear you can hear the familiar sound of Coric laughing from the other side of the medbay.
Your cheeks flush, you did not intend to be that loud. But you donât apologize, either, and Kix only gives you a rueful grin, nodding in understanding. Â
As you wait for the anaesthetic to settle, Kix warns, âIâm gonna be honest, kid, because of how long youâve left this injury to sit, even with the anesthetic, setting it is still going to hurt.âÂ
You close your eyes, grimacing, before nodding with a sigh. âDo your worst,â you say, bracing yourself.
He lays a reassuring hand on your uninjured shoulder. âI need you relaxed, adika,â he says gently. âTrust me, it will only hurt more if you tense like that,â he continues, gently encouraging your shoulder downward with his hand.
âEasy, now. I want you to give me some good deep breathâs. In,â he inhales deeply, holding for a few seconds, âand out,â he lets his breath go in a controlled, slow stream of air.
He waits for you to copy, giving you a few breaths to settle into it as he prepares himself. âPerfect, just like that, keep it up, youâve got this,â he keeps up the stream of encouraging words as carefully, but firmly, he rotates your arm, guiding your dislocated shoulder back into its proper place with one precise movement.
The sudden flare of pain, even dulled as it is by the anesthetic, takes your breath away momentarily, your vision instantly blurring with tears. When it clears,Kix has shifted to standing in front of you, gently wiping them away with his thumbs.
âWell done, vodâika, you were so brave,â his words make you want to cry more, because you didnât think you were brave. You thought that being brave meant confidence, at all times, and not letting other people see your vulnerability. You canât fully understand it, but, now, youâre beginning to think that maybe your initial idea of bravery was wrong.
Your lip wobbles as you speak, âW what now?â you look up at him with wide, still watery eyes.
He gently strokes your hair. âNow, Iâm going to get Coric, and you,â he playfully taps your nose, âare going to take a much-needed nap, if the bags under your eyes are any indication, while we take care of that leg wound.âÂ
*
It sounds simple enough.Â
Kix explains the procedure while Coric preps you for surgery, making sure all your vitals are stable. As he wraps a blood pressure cuff around your arm, he tells you that thatâs essentially his job while heâs in here. Throughout the surgery, he will monitor your vitals and make sure that they remain at safe levels.Â
âIâm going to remove the sutures, clean the wound, remove the infected tissue, pack the wound with saline soaked dressings, then bandage it back up so that it can heal. It goes without saying that youâre going to be off the field for at least a week. Youâll need to stay here so that we can continue to monitor your recovery as well as change the dressings often. You will also need to undergo a course of IV antibiotics to kill off any lingering infection. This will also give us time to get your haemoglobin levels back up with an infusion.â
Your eyes close tightly as anxiety knots your stomach. âOh, force, a week? But, my master needs me,â you protest.
When your eyes open again, both medics are fixing you with equally stern looks. âYour master needs you to be safe, and healthy,â says Coric, frowning, as he carefully attaches a pulse oximeter to one of your fingers.Â
âIf you want to be back on the field as soon as possible, you will take this week of recovery. If you want to argue with me about it, I will make it longer. A week is the absolute minimum,â Kix says, arms folded across his chest, wearing his signature âiâm the chief medical officer, you have no authority here,â expression.
You visibly deflate, reminding yourself that you pick and choose your battles, and picking and choosing a battle with two medics who are very competent at dealing with very stubborn Jedi would be a very stupid idea.Â
You canât help yourself, and in spite of the fact that you shouldnât, you stare as Kix preps your wrist for an IV line.
Sensing youâre mounting anxiety as your eyes nervously flit around, watching  Kixâs Every move, Coric gently takes your other hand, squeezing when your eyes donât immediately look at him. When you finally tear your eyes away from what Kix is doing, Coric is wearing a mischievous smile on his face. âSo, Vodâika, who taught you how to curse in Mandoa?â he asks, raising a curious brow.
You only scoff, rolling your eyes. âKix already tried to find out. What makes you think that Iâm going to tell that secret to you?â
âIâve already got my suspicions. My moneys on Echo or Fives.â he gives you a wounded look, âI thought you would tell me, because Iâm obviously your favourite.â
Kix uses this conversation to quickly insert the IV into a vein on your wrist. Reacting to the small pinch, your fingers instinctively tighten around Coricâs hand, squeezing it tightly.
âYouâre definitely my favourite now,â you grumble, giving Kix a sidelong glare.
He gives you an apologetic look. âSorry, Vod, iâm going to run the medication through the line now. It will act quickly, and when you wake up, this will be all done with.âÂ
You nod, biting your lip nervously. Coric notices, giving your hand another gentle squeeze. âHey, kid, I know youâve heard Kix say kaysh mirsh solus all the time. Do you know what it means?âÂ
You look at him with curiosity, shaking your head.
âWell, essentially it means they are stupid or foolish. But, the literal translation is even more direct .â Coric gives you a conspiratorial smile.
âWhat is it?â You ask as he leans forward.Â
âThe literal translation means their braincell is lonely,â he says, completely serious.
You feel a smile pulling up the corners of your lips and a surprised laugh falls from them.Â
You feel the medication beginning to enter your system, but youâre so busy laughing that you canât bring yourself to care. âYou better not be bullshitting me,â you threaten,âor I...â you let out a yawn.
âI swear to the force, I,â your eyes begin to flutter and you yawn again, shrugging.
âIâll think about it later,â you mumble sleepily, before promptly passing out, smile still lighting up your face.
*
Your leg hurts.
Thatâs the first thing you become aware of as Kix is gently encouraging you to open your eyes.
âCome on, adika, open your eyes for me,â he says  softly, fingers gently brushing against your cheek to bring you back to awareness.
âBut it hurts, and I wanna go back to sleep,â you wine, blinking sleepily up at him.Â
âNi ceta, vodâika,â he soothes, fingers gently caressing your forehead in an apology. âI know it hurts, and you can go back to sleep soon, I promise,âÂ
He glances at something that you canât see, giving a small nod,âVitals look good, the anaesthesia is wearing off nicely, and it doesnât appear to have affected them too much. Letâs up that IV dosage,â Kix speaks to Coric, who moves to adjust your IV out of your eyeline.
Your leg throbs, and you let out a stifled whimper, hand reaching down, trying to at least find the source of your pain when Kix catches it in his, gently stalling your movements. âLetâs leave that alone for now, vodâika. Coric is just increasing your pain med intake, that will make it better. Then you can sleep,âÂ
At the continued expression of pain on your face, he lets go of your hand, fingers gently playing with your hair as he instructs, ânice and easy, adika, deep breathâs for me, everythingâs okay.âÂ
You donât believe him at first, but slowly, things become okay. The pain quickly fades and dulls , breathing becomes easier, and your eyes begin to flutter. All the while, Kix continues holding his vigil at your bedside, fingers continuing to gently run through your hair until you fall into a natural sleep.
*
When you properly wake up next, the first thing you notice is that your leg doesnât hurt anymore.
Whatever pain meds Kix has got you hooked up to are very effective, and your lips pull into a relieved smile.Â
The second thing you notice, when you glance around to get your bearings, is the face of your very concerned captain, Rex, at your bedside. You blink slowly, yawning. Although the anaesthetic has worn off, the pain meds still have you feeling like youâre in a fog, and your brain is working pretty slowly.
âWhen did you get here?â you ask, confused.
âI came straight here after you never reported to the bridge for todayâs debriefing. The general said that you would be back today, and itâs unlike you to miss or forget about meetings,â he explains, looking at you, relieved to see you awake, but a flicker of concern still lingering in his eyes.
âOsik, sorry, Rex, I got myself into a bit of a bind over here,â you gesture to the IV that youâre hooked up to, chuckling a little.
âSo I heard, donât worry about it, kid. There wasnât much to report, anyways.â His head tilts, and he raises a questioning eyebrow.âWho taught you how to curse in Mandoa, vodâika?â he asks, keeping his voice light.
If you werenât under the influence of pretty heavy duty pain medicationâs, you would have restraint, you would have thought before you opened your mouth. But for Rex, it was his lucky day.
you smirk, âgood old Hardcase taught me everything I know,â you say with pride, smiling fondly at the memory.
Rex carefully files that information away so that he can scold Hardcase for that once he leaves. But he carefully keeps his face neutral.
His face grows serious. âKix told me about all the medical appointments youâve missed and the injuries that youâve been covering up,â his voice is stern, every bit the commanding officer that he is in front of the troops. It makes you nervous, and you swallow, looking away from him.
âI swear to the force, if you ever pull something like that again, I will find out about it, and Iâll drag you to the medbay myself, even if it means chasing you around the ship and stunning you if I have to. do you realize how much danger you were in? How much danger you put others in? That was extremely reckless of you, commander. Iâm very disappointed in your actions,  and it will not happen again, do you understand?â
Your hazy memory recalls the conversation you had with Kix earlier, about this very thing, and for some reason, it hits even harder seeing the disappointment, worry and concern etched on the face of the normally composed captain.
Without prompting, you find yourself bursting into tears.Â
Later, youâll blame the pain meds on your inability to keep a grip on your emotions. But right now, all you can do is think about the people, the brothers, you could have hurt, the things that couldâve happened because of you, and the tears just fall down your face, streaming from your eyes, falling down your cheeks, into your ears, dampening your hair.
.âI Iâm sorry Captain I I didnât I,â you gasp out, trying to explain, but your brain is still foggy, only clinging onto the hazy images of loss and pain due to your inability to act fast enough.
Thereâs a reason why people are convinced that Kix has eyes on the back of his head. Working as the highest ranking medic in the 501st has trained him to be hyper observant of all of his patients, even if he isnât at their bedside.Â
So, even though heâs been taking the time to update your file on a datapad, unbeknownst to either you or Rex, heâs also been watching you like a hawk, and the minute you begin to show that youâre overwhelmed, heâs swooping in on the two of you, protective mother hen mode fully activated by the tears falling down your cheeks.
He steps in front of you, broad shoulders immediately blocking your view of your commanding officer. âCaptain,â he says, and his voice is still respectful, but thereâs a hard edge beneath it, something stern that you havenât heard before, even during the worst of him lecturing you.
âYou are causing undue stress to my patient, and Iâm going to have to ask you to leave, sir,â he continues, physically ushering Rex to the door.
More quietly, out of your earshot, he says,âI have already harshly reprimanded the commander. Trust me, this experience will ensure that the lesson will not be forgotten.  Now, if you want to be of use, get the general and bring him to me, please. I need to speak with him. Between you and me, Rex, Iâm blaming this ordeal on him.âÂ
Rex begins to make an objection, but  Kix is already turning away, folding his arms. âI donât care if you have to drag him out of council meetings. His Padawan is more important,â he shoots back, before quickly moving back to your side, all of his hard lines instantly fading at the sight of your tear streaked face.
Heâs all gentleness and soft reassurances uttered as he cups your face, wiping away your tears. When you struggle into a sitting position, falling against his chest as your arms clumsily reach for him, his arms easily pull you close to him and you sob, trying to explain.
âKix, I, I didnât mean to, I never wanted to hurt anyone,â you whisper, clutching at him, burying your face into the crook of his neck, wanting to disappear, feeling his body shift, one hand splayed out, rubbing your back in slow, soothing circles, the other coming up to cradle your head, holding you against his warmth, sheltering you.
âOh, adika, shh, I know. You didnât hurt anyone, vodâika, nothing happened,â he coos, tightening his arms around you. Lips press against your hair briefly, and you continue to cry, letting your emotions run their course as he cradles you to him, gently rocking you back-and-forth, as if you were a much smaller child. Â
In this moment, you certainly feel like you are, and itâs comforting, the way he holds and settles you against him , making gentle shushing noises and speaking in low, soothing tones, the words eventually losing their meaning as sleep, yet again, gently pulls at your consciousness.
The last thing youâre aware of is him gently guiding you to lie back down, another medic, you think itâs Coric, passing him a freshly warmed blanket that he tucks around you, and a hand gently brushing through your hair as you drift back to sleep, your storm settled and calmed by his words and his presence.
*
Anakin Skywalker had been in meetings with the Jedi high Council all day, was running on his 3rd cup of caff, and still found himself stifling a yawn every five minutes. So, when Rex silently slipped into the room, politely interrupting the meeting to request that Anakin report to the medbay, he instinctively rolled his eyes, grumbling that he would go later.Â
But when Rex stated that this wasnât actually about him, and was in regards to his Padawan, Anakin was out of his seat in an instant, hastily making his excuses to the council before leaving the room, legs carrying him to the medbay faster than he ever had moved there before.
He doesnât even stop to look as behind him, Rex calls to a group of troopers in a booming voice, âHardcase, get Over here right now,  you diâkut, I need to talk to you regarding professionalism when it comes to working with young Padawanâs .â
When heâs escorted into a cubicle, his eyes grow wide with alarm at the sight of you, peacefully asleep, but your face looks exhausted and worn out. Youâre hooked up to an IV and monitors, thereâs a thick bandage thatâs been secured to the bottom half of your right leg.
Kix keeps his voice low and quiet, so as not to disturb you, but he fixes your master with a hard look as he takes him through an overview of your current health status.
âIron deficiency anemia, burns, a dislocated shoulder, a blaster wound that had to be surgically operated on due to an untreated infection that had grown quite severe and needed to be manually removed, as well as several muscle strains and bruised ribs that can be healed with proper rest.âÂ
His mouth falls open at the growing list, but Kix only folds his arms, continuing to speak. âGeneral, sir, your Padawan looks to you with the highest regard, and you lead the way by example. All of these issues could have been caught much earlier and treated without having to deal with all this,â he gestures at everything youâre hooked up to.
âThis behaviour was learned, and when I pressed, I found that at the root of the problem was fear of disappointing you and letting you down,â he waits for these words to sink in, and when they do, Anakin Skywalker, Jedi general who is known for his strength and recklessness on the field, hangs his head with shame, eyes finding the floor and refusing to look at Kix directly.
His meaning is clear, you are his Padawan, and as your master, itâs his responsibility to set a good example for you, and in this regard, watching pain medication flow through the IV line attached to your wrist, he knows he has failed to do so.
âSo, just maybe, the next time you decide that are mandatory medical checks are optional and you can manage on your own, maybe just, consider this,â Kix gestures to you, still deeply asleep.
Before your master can respond, not that he really has any words to do so, Kix turns on his heel, quickly exiting the room before he can be reprimanded for speaking to his superior that way, not that he really cares, anyway.
If he had stayed, though, he would have seen Anakin tentatively move to your side, gently sitting on the edge of your bed as he strokes back your hair and adjusts the blankets that are tucked around you, properly shamefaced as he looks down at you and says in a voice that is soft and rarely heard coming out of him, âIâm sorry, kiddo, this oneâs on me.â
*
âAnd this,â says Kix, quickly injecting the third and final mandatory vaccination into your arm, âis your ticket out of here.â
The week of recovery has come and gone, And you have finally been cleared to head back onto the field, as long as you continue to follow a regimen of oral antibiotics for the next week, and, more excitingly in your opinion, get out of the medbay.
âThere you go, you did it,â Fives, whoâs been sitting across from you, happily agreeing to be your emotional support/cheerleader, ready with a damp cloth if you need it, does a little celebratory dance that makes you laugh, even as Kix, sensing that youâre feeling unsteady, gets you to lay down.
Fives gently places the cool cloth against your skin, and itâs enough to ground you, pulling you back from the edge.
âThatâs it, Vodâika, well done, you did great,â Kix says encouragingly, giving your shoulder a warm squeeze. âNow, wait 15 minutes, and as long as youâre feeling back to normal, you can get out of here,â he smiles down at you, patting your head affectionately before moving out of the cubicle.
As soon as heâs gone, Fives liens in conspiratorially, face lighting up with mischievousness sparkling in his eyes. âHey, kid, I bet you 10 credits that I could easily sneak you out right now and we could make this 15 minutes go a lot faster,â he grins.
In spite of the fact that you smile back at him and laugh lightly, you give your head a small shake and throw a cautious look over your shoulder.
âAre you kidding? Iâve been here for a whole week, and the biggest thing Iâve learned is that  Kix and Coric do, in fact, have eyes in the back of their heads. We wouldnât even make it out of the door.âÂ
Itâs true, youâve seen several different troopers trying to carefully sneak out of the medbay when they think that no one is watching.Â
What youâve learned, though, is that the medics of Torrent Company are always watching. Nothing gets past their keen eyes or ears, and no one successfully sneaks out undetected.Â
You grimace, âbesides, Iâve just gotten off of Kixâs bad side, and I have no desire to go back there.â
âSo,â Fives says, resignedly coming to sit on the edge of your bed with a sigh. âWeâre waiting the 15 minutes?â
You carefully sit up, giving him a nod and a decisive look as you lean your head against his shoulder..
âYes, Fives,â you affirm, letting out a small sigh of your own. âWe are waiting the 15 minutes.â
The helmet of your hazmat suit hisses as you release the seal. A deep sigh passes your lips as you step out of your suit and hang it on the rack for decontamination. When you open the door to the decontam stalls, the creak echoes around the tiled room.Â
'Damn. All this and we canât even get some WD-40 on the hinges?' You think to yourself before stripping down to your skivvies and stepping under one of the spouts. The doors from the infectious disease ward open again and a friendly face steps in.Â
âKix.âÂ
He smiles at you as he strips down to his briefs and steps under a spout. âLong day, Doc?â
You canât even muster a reply as you close your eyes and hit the red button in front of you. For just a single moment, the rest of the hospital fades away with the roar of the sonic waves washing over you, and then itâs over.Â
âThat good, huh?â Kix notes your response, or lack thereof.Â
You shake your head, trying to keep it together. âIâve had better.âÂ
Kix holds the door to the locker room open for you as you step through. âAt least you donât have to wear the clone kit all day.â He says, tossing you a pair of clean blacks from the cabinet. âOn the battlefield itâs great, but here I bump around like a pinball. Iâm lucky if I can make it through the day without breaking anything.â He jokes, trying to lighten the mood.
The corner of your mouth does twitch a little. âI donât know.â You respond, âIâve always thought I looked like a hutt in those hazmat suits, and the gloves are so annoying.âÂ
âDinner?â Kix simply asks.Â
âPlease.â
He leads the way to the hospital cantina. You met Kix just a couple weeks ago, but the two of you had become fast friends. He was a clone medic, sent to your planet to help in one of the hundreds of makeshift âhospitalsâ that had popped up in the wake of a pandemic. This particular hospital was housed in an academic campus, shut down because of the spreading illness.Â
Normally, you were the second in command in the biggest hospital in the planetâs capital, but for the past month your days consisted of random converted buildings, biohazard suits, and patients you felt like you couldnât do anything for. At the end of the day, you were thankful Kix had been stationed at your hospital.Â
Though you two were usually preoccupied with your own patients throughout the day, the pair of you could usually be found together on your breaks. It felt like Kix truly saw you and your struggle. Sure, the hospital Medical Director was the top dog, calling the shots, but you were the one in the trenches of the Infectious Disease Ward every day.Â
This pandemic was an enigma that you just couldnât figure out. It should have just been the normal yearly wave of Wet Lung, easily managed by some general antibios, but those didnât work. Then your Medical Director ordered you to move up to more aggressive drugs, so you did. Before you knew it, your patients were on IV drips of the most aggressive antibio cocktail you could think of.Â
And they still werenât getting better, in fact, they were getting worse. Youâd already lost a number of patients to sepsis, blood poisoning, and the other hospitals across the planet were facing the same issues. As far as you knew, any person that had caught this mysterious strain of Wet Lung were either dead or dying and there was nothing you could do about it.Â
You nearly bump into Kix when he stops to open the cantina door.Â
âCoruscant to Doc, are you okay?â He asks, guiding you through the door with a hand on your lower back.Â
You shake your head, trying to clear it. âYeah, Kix. Just a long shift, you know?â
He squeezes your shoulder before grabbing a tray and heading to the serving line. Even though the Republic had brought the war to your Planet a few months ago, you had to admit their support was needed for this pandemic. And nobody knows how to feed the masses quite like the GAR.Â
Kix immediately starts eating when you two sit down, he told you about one of his brothers, Fives: 'If you didnât eat quickly around him, heâd swipe the rest of your rations.'
You just canât bring yourself to eat, instead you just chase a few peas around your tray. Of course, Kix notices.Â
âJahaal'got.â He says, using your nickname to grab your attention. âCome on. Talk. It wasnât just a long day.â
You avoid his eyes, the words getting stuck in your throat. Youâve lost patients before, multiple in one day even, so why was today crushing you so badly?
Kix sets down his fork and reaches across the table to gently grasp your chin between his thumb and forefinger, forcing you to look at him. âHow many did you lose today?â
You take a deep breath, âTwelve, eight more deteriorating. I just⊠I donât get it, Kix. What are we missing? The drugs arenât working, they keep going septic before we can catch it, and those that havenât progressed to sepsis are dying to the Wet Lung.âÂ
Kix stops your rambling by taking both your hands in his. âYou remember what your nickname means, right?âÂ
You should be able to remember, but your mind has been so overworked, it doesnât come to you. âI, uh⊠something about medicine?â
âJahaalâgot.â Kix repeats it. âItâs the mando term meaning 'good for health', because thatâs what you are. Youâre doing everything you can, and thatâs all you can do.âÂ
You nod, closing your eyes and rolling your head to try to release the tension in your shoulders.Â
âYouâre off tonight, right?â Kix asks.
âNo,â you shake your head. âI picked up the night shift, I have to be here.âÂ
Kix scoffs at you. âAre you serious? What, youâre just going to sleep on the hospital floor forever?âÂ
âNot forever.â You protest. âJust until this blows over.âÂ
âThis pandemic or the war?âÂ
You meet his eyes, and a knowing look passes between you. After meeting him, you had discussed sending in an application to become a civilian medic for the GAR.Â
âWell, we have an hour before the night shift starts.â Kix says, standing up and taking your tray. âWhy donât we go for a walk and then try again at this âfoodâ thing before going back to work?â
Your brow furrows at his remark, âBut you-â
âWill also be working the night shift, so it seems.â He cuts you off. He shifts both trays into one hand and holds his other out to help you out of your seat.Â
Kix leads the way, dropping the trays in the wash basin on the way out of the cantina. Outside, the sun is beginning to set, painting the sky with shades of orange, pinks and purples.Â
The two of you walk through the academic campus, chatting about nothing in particular. Kix asks you a few questions here and there about the buildings you all pass. Though itâs been a few years, you tell him what you remember about studying here.Â
âItâs a shame all the students had to be sent home.â You remark as you step into the university greenhouses.Â
Kix nods his agreement. âWhat is this place?â He asks, looking around.Â
âThe campus greenhouses, they're shared by a few departments.â You explain. âBiology, horticulture, environmental studies, and engineering to name a few.â
âIâm surprised everything is still alive, donât plants take some maintenance?â
âWell, the greenhouse forms a pretty self-sustaining environment. I remember the medical students coming in here a couple times.â
Kix tilts his head at you. âWhat would medical students study in here?â
âWell,â you shrug, âThere are quite a few medicinal plants native to this planet. Though they arenât quite as effective as modern medicine, they can still be used for daily management or as an additional treatment.âÂ
The two of you weave through the greenhouse aisles for a few more minutes before you notice Kix has lagged behind. When you turn around to find him, you notice heâs hiding something behind his back.
Your eyes narrow. âWhat do you have there, Kix? Itâs not a bug, is it? That was only funny the first time.â
He chuckles, âHaha, no. I promise itâs not. Here, one last thing to brighten your day.âÂ
You freeze when you notice what he has in his hand.Â
Kix notices your expression at the small yellow flowers heâs holding out to you. âWhat, are they poisonous or something?â He asks hesitantly.
âNo,â you shake your head smiling as you take them from him. âItâs just funny, those are St. Johnâs Worts.âÂ
âWeird name.âÂ
âItâs from local mythology.â You explain. âThe flowers tend to bloom on the summer solstice, which is dedicated to their namesake.âÂ
Kix looks from you to the flowers and gently picks a few more sprigs from the nearby planter, tucking them behind your ear. âTheyâre pretty, like something else Iâm looking at.âÂ
His words make you smile, but you playfully swat at his arm. âOh stop it. I know I look like hell.âÂ
âYou look better than anyone else would after nearly a month of non-stop work in an infectious disease ward.â He responds.
âThanks Kix.â You say, hoping that your sincerity projects. Before you know it, youâre throwing your arms around his neck.Â
Kix falters, but only for a second. You feel his arms wrap around you, strong and steady, just like him. Just like he has been for you the past few weeks. Maybe it was his clone conditioning, or maybe it was just him, but he seemed so unshakeable and he always knew what to say.Â
He doesnât relax until you do, but his hands remain on your hips, his eyes darting across your face, trying to read your thoughts. One of your hands rests on his chest, the other still on his shoulder. You wonât deny how drawn you are to him. Though you hoped for the end of this mystery illness plaguing your planet, it stung that itâs end meant saying goodbye to Kix.Â
Kix is shifting. âHeâs leaning in, why is he leaning in?â
You move as well, but the moment is shattered when your foreheads bump into each other.Â
Kix lets go of you completely and takes a step back, color spreading across his cheeks.
âI uhhhâŠâ He tries to find the words, rubbing the back of his neck.Â
âUh, itâs fine.â You stammer. âYouâre fi- weâre fine.â A giggle slips past your lips at the awkwardness.Â
Kix breaks into some nervous laughter as well before readjusting some of the yellow flowers in your hair. âTell me about them.âÂ
You smile at him. âWell, theyâre perennials, meaning they come back every year, they donât need to be replanted. Although the flowers are yellow, theyâll stain your fingers red when you crush them. Theyâve been shown to have some antidepressant properties as well as anti-inflammatory benefits, but you need to be careful when combining them with modern drugs.â
You notice Kixâs soft expression as he listens to you.
âItâs been shown that St. Johnâs Wort has antibio and antiviral properties as we-'' Your heart stops. âKix.â
âWhat?âÂ
âKix, thatâs it,â you repeat. âThatâs why we keep losing them. Weâve been treating this Wet Lung with antibios, but those arenât working because itâs not bacterial.â
Kixâs mouth drops open and he says the words at the same time as you. âItâs viral.âÂ
You can see the thoughts tumbling in his head. âAnd because we advanced to use the system-wide drugs, the patientâs are too weak to fight the virus, triggering the sepsis.â He stammers out. âBut, wait, that canât be right. How can it be viral? Thereâs never been a case of viral Wet lung reported on this planet.âÂ
Your feet move automatically as you start pacing. ââThereâs always a patient zero. Normal trade is scanned and sanitized.â You stop. âThe troopers.â
Kixâs brow furrows. âNo, we're vaccinated.â
âYes, but vaccines arenât a foolproof plan, with a mutated strain it might present as a mild cold, or not even show symptoms, especially since you all are engineered to have a more robust immune system.â You say, your brain moving a klick a minute. âWhere were you all stationed before being deployed here?â
âMost of the 501st was on shore leave on Coruscant.â Kix replies, shaking his head. âThe Carnivore and Execute Battalions⊠They were on Rhodia and transferred directly here for the occupation.âÂ
His eyes widen and he grabs your wrist without another word.Â
âKix? Kix!â You shout as he drags you through the campus back towards the hospital. âWhy is it so important that you were on Rhodia?â
âRhodia is one of the native planets for viral strains of Wet Lung.â He pants. âThe Rhodians are largely immune, but some mutated strains survive. You were right, we had a couple troopers reporting colds when they transferred.âÂ
The doors to the Infectious Disease Ward bang open and Kix finally lets go of your wrist, giving you a moment to breathe.Â
âLike you said, the troopers, weâre engineered to have stronger immune systems and weâre vaccinated.â He continues. âThe population hereâŠâ
âWe never have.â You finish his sentence. âWe donât have any kind of immunity. Combined with your theory that itâs a mutated strain and the antibios weâve given them, itâs no wonder-â
âWHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?âÂ
The two of you turn and see the Medical Director storming down the nearby hallway.Â
Kix steps partially in front of you and stands at attention. âIâm sorry sir, but we-â
âI donât care what you two were doing!â The Director booms. âYou bursting in here is no excuse.â
You slowly step out from behind Kix. âPlease, sir. We think weâve figured out this pandemic.â
âI donât know who you think you are, but Iâm in charge here.â The Director says, his eyes narrowing.
Instead of bowing away as usual, you stand your ground. âI am just as qualified as you, if not more. I'm the one that's been running this ward while you sit in your office. I graduated from this very campus, top of my class and Iâm the second in command at the Capital Hospital. This disease weâre dealing with, it has to be viral.â
Your Medical Director looks you up and down, pausing at the yellow flowers in your hair. âThere has never been a case of viral Wet Lung reported on this planet. The antibios always work. We just need to find the right combination of meds.â
âSir, you need to listen.â You insist. âI know weâve always treated Wet Lung with antibios, but look,â You wave your arm at the ward behind him. âEvery single patient thatâs come in is either still sick or has progressed to sepsis. The other hospitals are reporting the same.â
Kix puts a comforting hand on your shoulder. âSheâs right, sir. Strains of viral Wet Lung are common in other systems. We had a couple battalions transfer here from one of those systems, Rhodia. Itâs likely some of our troopers were carriers for a mutated variant and brought it here.â
You pick up where Kix left off. âEven though our population doesnât have any innate immunity, a fair amount of people probably could have ridden out the virus if we hadnât given them those antibios.â You bite your lip before continuing. âThose drugs are effective, but in a patient with no bacterial infection, all it would do is compromise their system. They canât fight the virus, and they progress to sepsis. Only weâre not catching it before it kills them because the Wet Lung is masking the sepsis symptoms.âÂ
You try to stop the words from spilling over your lips but in a last desperate plea for your officer to understand, it slips out.
"Weâre killing them."
Kixâs hand squeezes firmly on your shoulder as you let out a choked sob. Your medical officer looks at you curiously, youâve always been so level headed and sure footed.Â
The Director crosses his arms. "So youâre telling me to take them off the drugs and do nothing. You do know thatâs how we treat viruses, right?"
You lock eyes with him. âThatâs exactly what Iâm saying. We need to give them supportive treatment; fluids, steroids, pain medication. We can try some antivirals to weaken the Wet Lung strain, but the patients will have to fight it off on their own. All we can do is give them the best chance possible.â
Your director looks you up and down before letting out a little âhm.â He glances behind him to the infectious disease ward and back to you. âI will not take responsibility when this goes wrong. Looks like weâre taking your direction now, Doctor.âÂ
Under your instruction, all of the patients in the ward are removed off the antibio cocktail. Much to your Medical Director's annoyance, the death rate begins to improve. You sent word to the other hospitals caring for pandemic patients and they saw similar results. Itâs a slow process, and Kix stays by your side every step of the way. The day you discharged your first survivor, you cried. You both did, actually.
It takes a few more weeks, some patients are touch and go. There were still a few deaths, and Kix held you as you cried for them. Then came the day that you got the news. Your patient numbers had reduced so much your little makeshift hospital was going to be closed, and you were being sent back to the Capital Hospital with a new position, no less. Your remaining patients would be transferred along with you and the University was going to be reopened.Â
And yet, you werenât quite happy. Sure youâd basically saved your planetâs population from facing extinction, but you couldnât revel in it knowing that a certain someone was going to be shipped out.Â
âThe campaign here is over.â Kix had explained. âAnd with the pandemic contained, thereâs no reason for the medics to stay behind.âÂ
The 501st was being sent to Ryloth. You knew there was a crisis brewing there, and you were proud that you knew some of the brave men going to help there, but it still stung. It stung the same as your eyes did as you stand on the landing platform, waiting for someone to come say goodbye.Â
âThere you are.â He says, walking up behind you.Â
You sniff slightly, trying to keep tears from pricking at your eyes. âHere I am.âÂ
You hear a bit of laughter and you notice a group of clone troopers in blue armor across the landing platform that seem very interested in the two of you.
âDonât pay attention to them.â Kix says, moving in front of you to block them from view. âBrothersâŠâ He mumbles.Â
âI get it.â You say, searching his face, what for youâre not quite sure.Â
Kix reaches for a pouch on his belt. âI- I have something for you.â He says, sheepishly pressing a box into your hands.Â
Looking down you realize itâs a jewelry box. Gently you open the lid and gasp at the sight of what lays inside. Strung on a delicate chain is a single golden pendant of a flower. The same flower that Kix had tucked into your hair all those weeks ago. The same flower that led to the salvation of your planet.
âKix⊠I donât know what to say.â You stammer.Â
âDonât say anything,â he says sweetly. âJust turn around for me.âÂ
He takes the necklace from the box and gently brushes your hair out of the way before clasping the chain around your neck. Turning back around you can only shake your head and smile at him.Â
âI have something for you too.â You say.Â
Kix looks at you a little puzzled, he hadnât seen you holding anything.Â
âTheyâre naming the new wing of the hospital after you.â You explain. âItâll be like youâre always here. No one will forget what you did for us, for me.âÂ
Kix gingerly cups your cheek with one hand. âIt was an honor and a privilege.â
Heâs leaning in again.
This time your lips connect and the landing platform melts away. Thereâs nothing but him. Him and you.Â
Of course your heart has to ruin it as it sinks with the returning thought that heâs literally about to leave and never come back. You break the kiss, but he keeps your foreheads pressed together.Â
âWhat is it?â He breathes.
You canât help but scoff. âYouâre leaving and weâre kissing. I doubt the GAR will give you much time for visits.â
âHey,â Kix says gently holding your chin between his thumb and forefinger. âItâs like you said, Iâll always be here, jahaal'got. I will admit I shouldâve kissed you sooner.âÂ
âHey lovebird! Itâs time to go!â One of his brothers shouts.
That manages to get a laugh out of the two of you.Â
âI think you have to go.â You mutter.
Kix lets you go and takes a step back. âThereâs one more thing, but itâs waiting in your office.âÂ
He turns to leave, but you reach out and grab his bracer. âKix. Thank you. For everything.â
With a smile, he leans in to peck you on the cheek before turning and jogging over to the shuttle where his brothers are waiting.Â
A grin spreads across your face when you see one with shoulder pauldrons wrap his arm around Kixâs neck to give him a noogie, while another with a top knot of hair claps him on the back.Â
The sun is setting by the time you get back to your office. The door slides open with a gentle woosh. Itâs a nice space, though somewhat empty as you have yet to move most of your stuff over from your old office. On your desk is a vase of small yellow flowers. You find yourself shaking your head again as you walk closer.Â
Kix⊠when will he stop absolutely melting your heart?
When you didn't think he could surprise you any more, you realize the flowers in the vase are ceramic. Tucked in between some of the delicate blooms is a notecard. You instantly recognize Kixâs swooping handwriting.
âI think I need to make an appointment with the Doc, I seem to have been bitten by the love bug. (augh, that was awful, Jesse told me it would be good) I hope you like these, you deserve real ones, but had a local artist make them for you since I wonât be around to make sure real ones never wilt. Iâll see you soon, jahaal'got, on my next shore leave.â
Also Happy Birthday @arctrooper69! (today, May 20th)
Ease
Pairing: Kix x pregnant! female reader
Summary: When Kix comes back home from a day of saving lives and sees his pregnant wife having back issues he decides to help ease her pain
Warning: 100% fluff, Kix being the best husband to his loving wife
A/n: I'm back babes! I'm so excited to be writing for all of you again so enjoy some fluff with our favorite medic and look out for some more new content coming soon đ
Kix couldn't wait to get home. After seeing multiple patients and helping in two surgeries at the hospital all he wanted to do was take a shower to get the day off of him, eat some unhealthy takeout from Dex's Diner and curl up on the couch to binge watch all his favorite shows and movies before sleeping for the next three days. Most importantly he wanted to be with his beautiful riduur. You were everything to Kix and once he got home he wanted to dote on you hand and foot. He would do pretty much anything for you. As Kix left the hospital he said goodbye to his coworkers and made his way down the street to the diner. He picked up a whole bunch of food for you and him then caught a cab home. Kix sent you a message letting you know that he was on his way home and you sent him a reply telling him you couldn't wait to see him. Kix smiled before putting his comm away and enjoyed the rest of the ride home.
---
Kix made his way up to your shared apartment and punches in the code. The door slides open and Kix makes his way inside. "Cyar'ika, I'm home." Kix kicks his shoes off and sets his bag down. He carries the bag of food to the kitchen and when he sees you Kix smiles. "Hello, my love." Kix's smile fades as he sees you with a hand on your back and he knows that you must be in pain. It's not that all surprising since you were eight months pregnant and on top of that you were carrying twins. Both of you were so happy when you found out you were pregnant but as the months passed and your pregnancy progressed all you wanted was for the pregnancy to be over.
Kix sets the food down on the counter and makes his way behind you. He puts his hands around your heavily pregnant belly and gently lifts it. You groan and lean your head against Kix's chest as the extra weight is lifted off of you. "Feel good?" You giggle a little. "Have I told you I love you?" Kix smiled as he placed a kiss on your head. "I love you too, Mesh'la." As the two of you stand there Kix wishes that he could take all of your symptoms and pains of your pregnancy away from you and put himself through it. Unfortunately he can't and he knows that this pain free moment for you can't last forever. "I'm sorry, cyare." You hummed in understanding. "It's okay, Kix. You can let go."
Kix holds your stomach for another moment before gently setting your belly down. You turn around and wrap your arms around Kix as much as you can but your huge pregnant belly was in the way. You groan and Kix laughs a little as he kneels down and makes eye level with your stomach. "You two are such trouble makers. Let your poor buir be and let me hug her." At the sound of Kix's voice the twins kick you and you place your hand on your stomach. "They aren't happy that their daddy is giving them orders." Kix shakes his head with a smile on his face and places a kiss on your stomach.
Kix stands back up and pulls you close. " I got all our favorites. I'm gonna go take a shower and put on something comfy then we can hang out in the living room and binge watch our shows and movies while we eat." You place your hands on Kix's chest. "I love it. But you know that we also have to set up the nursery and you have to put the cribs together." Kix groaned. "We can do all that tomorrow. For now I just want to spend time with my beautiful, sexy riduur." You smile at the flattery and Kix captures your lips with his. The two of you kiss for a moment before he pulls away.
"I'll be back." Kix walks out of the kitchen and down the hall to your bedroom. You hear the door close and the shower start as you sigh. You don't know how you ended up with a loving man such as Kix but you wouldn't have it any other way. You take out a couple of plates and the food out of the bags and by the time that all of that is done Kix is all cleaned and dressed in sweatpants and a t-shirt. He places a hand on your stomach as he kisses you once again and the twins kick you again when they feel Kix. The two of you laugh as you pull away from one another.
" I think the twins are hungry." Kix smiles. "I'm sure they're eager for the food that I brought us." Kix grabs the food while you grab the plates and silverware and the two of you make your way to the couch. Kix puts everything down and he helps you sit down. Once the two of you are settled you pick out a show to watch while Kix puts food on the plates and afterwards the two of you settle in for the night. You eat all you can and once your stomach is full and your unborn babies are satisfied you sit closer to Kix who pulls you close. You settle in closer and not long after the two of you have fallen asleep in one another's arms.
Ohhhh Kix. Just let someone take care of you!
đ Congratulations on the milestone!! đ
Your writing sparks so much joy, you deserve every single follower (and the many more yet to come!) đ
I'd like to drop a request for Kix (beloved..), from the hurt/comfort prompts:
"How long did you think you could hide that?" + "I'm sorry you had to see me like that."
And if I may be so bold, reader is the one chastising him? đ
Thank you so so much for your love and encouragement â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to write this! I realize it's been in my inbox for several months now but here it is! I hope you enjoy!
ALSO... I loved this prompt so much and had a similar idea for an OC of mine, so there will be a Kix x OC version of this as well!
Prompt #20: "How long did you think you could hide that?"
Prompt #26: "I'm sorry you had to see me like that."
Beta-read by the amazing @staycalmandhugaclone
--------------------------------------------------
Busy, Busy
Kix is stubborn. He's ways taken care of everybody else. Maybe it's time you took care of him.
Warnings: Mentions of sickness and injury.
--------------------------------------------------
The med bay on the Resolute was quiet for once - not that Kix would ever say that aloud. He didn't want to jinx anything. Every healthcare worker knew that once that Q-word was uttered, all hell would be soon to break loose - a silly superstition, but one that had been proven true time and time again. Kix, however, did not have time to prove or disprove anything like that. He was just glad that none of his co-workers were here to tell him off for being so careless. Especially you.
He must've been allergic to something down on the planet they'd just been on. It was stupid, really - clones weren't supposed to get sick or have allergies.
I'm supposed to be better than this. Kix thought miserably. Yet here he was - snivelling like a child, sinuses so clogged that it felt like his head was in a bubble, and he was so damn tired.
Kriff... if it wasn't for this karking brain fog, maybe he wouldn't have slipped off the loading dock like that - landing on his side among boxes of medical supplies that he just now finished cleaning up.
The med-droid on duty stood quietly in the corner, ready to be turned on should an emergency arise but Kix quickly passed it by, opting to take care of himself in secret.
He groaned quietly, holding his side as he reached for the bacta at the back of the cold-storage unit. He grimaced, gingerly palpating his side with practiced fingers. Nothing felt broken, that was good. Just bruised. Nothing he could really do for bruised ribs. Maybe that was for the best. Kix still had a lot of work to do - reports to file, miles of inventory to catalog, and two med-droids to repair. Just some bacta for the pain and stiffness and maybe a stim for good measure - that would keep him afloat long enough to get all this shit together. Kix was short staffed, very short staffed. You had just finished up a triple, going on quadruple shift when he'd ordered you to get some rest.
"Makes no sense having a sleep deprived medic on the field, not to mention how dangerous that is," he'd scolded, now internally wincing at his own hypocritical actions just hours later.
But you're a clone. You can take a lot more than any nat-born. He nodded to himself, scrambling to find any justification for his actions.
"Alright," he grumbled, "quit stalling, Kix. You've got work to do. Then you can sleep."
He settled down in the small office behind the medbay, bacta on his ribs, a stim in his system, and a large cup of caf in hand - not the best combination, but it would work for the time being.
***
It seemed like only minutes had passed when the door slid open with a hiss. Kriff. He knew it was you despite the boxes of medical supplies that blocked his view and the stacks of datapads littering his desk. He sighed, rubbing a hand down his face, and stood up. He gripped the edge of the desk as a wave of vertigo nearly brought him to his knees.
"Hey, I'm sorry," he grunted out, surprising himself with the way the rough edges of his voice seemed to grate against the dryness of his throat. "I lost track of time."
He heard you shift and lean against the doorway. "That's alright. I figured that's what happened." The tone of your voice did not match the carefree understanding conveyed by your words.
You knew something was wrong.
Kix winced quietly as he eased himself back into his chair. Staying seated and unmoving was the best way for his side to heal up on its own. It was better for you not to see him. Until he could finish these reports, it was better he keep to himself.
"You wanna join me for breakfast?"
Breakfast!? It couldn't be time for breakfast yet. Maybe you'd just woken up early. Very early.
"Kix?" Your voice startled him from his thought-drifting fatigue.
"Huh?"
"I asked you if you wanted to join me for breakfast."
This time the worry in your voice was apparent and Kix felt his heart sink. The last thing he wanted to do was worry you.
"I'm really busy. Another time maybe."
"Kix...
"Your shift doesn't start for another three hours. You shouldn't be here." He snapped.
"Uhh...actually it starts in half an hour," you responded slowly. "Yours on the other hand, was supposed to be over like six hours ago. What are you still doing here?" The question was laced with the same sharpness he'd just directed towards you.
"Quinn called out. Their kid is sick." He spoke of the civilian contractor they'd been assigned.
The black and gold zabrak made a great medtech but, between various other assignments and six children, their appearances in his medbay were few and far between.
"So... you're going on four shifts in a row now?"
Kix grunted. He wished you would stop asking him questions. Talking made his throat feel as though he'd swallowed the general's lighsaber. "I'm fine."
"When was the last time you ate? Or slept!?"
He shrugged absentmindedly, concentrating on the datapad in front of him when it was suddenly snatched from his hand.
"Hey!" His head snapped up, glaring at his fellow medic who met it with an equally annoyed fire in her eyes.
"Give it back!" Kix made a grab for it but was suddenly and painfully reminded of his aching ribs. He collapsed back down into his chair with a defeated hiss of pain at the way the muscles balked at the tension. The movement took his breath away for a moment.
"Kix!" Your surprised cry pounded through his head as you dropped to your knees beside him, eyes widening as you thoroughly surveyed him for the first time since stepping into the room.
"Oh Kix..." you shook your head, reaching for a handheld scanner. He watched with heavy, lidded eyes as you swept the scanner over him slowly and methodically.
You set down the scanner with a sigh, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Kix, what happened!? Your shift was supposed to end at 2300 hours! You need to go to bed!"
Kix rolled his eyes. Only a few more things to do and then he'd gladly follow your direction.
"Relax, I'll just be a few more minutes! It's only -" he paused, looking at the chrono around his wrist. It read 0725. "Oh."
"Yeah."
He winced at your deadpanned tone. "Sorry. I guess I lost track of time."
"I'll say." You placed the datapad back onto the desk but didn't remove your hand. "You didn't answer my question."
"What question?"
"What the hell happened to you!? You look awful, you sound like your entire head is clogged, and you've got two cracked ribs!"
Oh. Cracked. Not bruised.
He opened his mouth to respond just as one of the datapads let out a beep. You frowned and put a hand up, cutting off yet another desperately fabricated excuse. "And don't tell me Quinn called out. You just got a message from the Admiral asking you why you canceled Quinn's shift."
He sighed defeatedly, suppressing a wince at the twinge of pain in his side. He didn't meet your eyes. "I fell."
"You...fell!?" you questioned, sounding a bit incredulous. "When? How?!" He'd seemed fine when he'd ordered you to take off.
"'Bout an hour after you left," he admitted. "Must've been allergic to something in the dust planetside. I was unloading some supplies, got dizzy, and fell off the loading dock."
"And how long did you think you could hide that?" Your voice had once again taken on that scolding tone which for some reason made him feel both guilty and proud. You'd been a timid shiny when he first met you. Now here you were, taking charge of the situation with an air of authority and sass he likened to one of his generals. He shrugged.
"As long as it took to finish all of this." He motioned to the cluttered desk, immediately regretting the movement causing his ribs to tense painfully again.
Your eyes were piercing - full of concern and disbelief. "Why are you acting like everything is fine!?" you snapped, suddenly angry at his seemingly unphased attitude.
He didn't answer.
You shook your head. âWhy didnât you call me, Kix? If Iâd known you werenât feeling well, I couldâve at least helped you with the work!â
Kix didn't blame you. He'd probably have reacted the same way if he were in your shoes. He looked away.
"I just... I didn't want you to see me like this." he muttered softly. He sounded hoarse and miserable.
You sighed. "Let me get this right....You didn't want me - a medic - to see you sick and injured? So you - also a medic, who should know better, might I add - decided to hide it from everyone so that you could get your work done!? You sent away our best medtech so that you wouldn't be bothered by them realizing something was wrong!?"
Kix frowned. It did sound bad when you put it all out like that.
"Guess that sounds about right."
You stared at him. "That was really dumb, Kix."
"Yeah."
You sighed. "How long has it been since you've eaten anything?"
Kix thought back. When was the last time he'd eaten? His stomach revolted with just the thought. There was no way he'd be able to eat anything right now.
"I...I don't know," he admitted, not meeting your eyes.
You sighed. "Okay, come on. I'm gonna go get you something to eat."
He shook his head, resting it in the palms of his hands, rubbing his eyes. You were right about one thing, he was exhausted. But duty came first.
"I can't. I have so much to do." He nodded to the screen of his datapad. It was full of messages, requests, reports, and a number of reminders and meeting invitations flashed across the screen.
You laid your hand on his shoulder.
"Just humor me, please. Eat something, take a nap - "
Kix shoved your hand from his shoulder, then instantly regretted the action. Maker, if his ribs weren't killing him, he could just scream. All he wanted to do was sleep. But he had work to do. Why couldn't you understand that? He knew he was irritable but his rude reaction towards you - his friend - flooded him with even more guilt.
"I can't! I just can't! Admiral Yularen needs these reports in by tonight and I'm only halfway through them because I got interrupted by General Skywalker needing additional information for the next mission, so I spent two hours tracking that down, come to find out it was all for nothing because the kriffing Jedi council decided to send them elsewhere."
He took a gasping breath. Fire burned through his side, igniting a feral panic that gripped his chest with an icy grasp. His ribs were screaming. His head felt as though heâd been forced beneath the rabid jaws of Kaminoan ocean waves - descending ever downwards, pressure rising in painful crescendos. His hands were shaking and he couldn't make them stop.
"Hey! Kix, hey!" Gentle pressure pulled him from his spiral with a grounding hand rubbing circles on his back. Concern clouded your face as you knelt beside him.
"Breathe, Kix. I need you to breathe."
"Can't," he panted.
"I know," you responded evenly, holding an oxygen mask to his nose and mouth. "Just do the best you can."
"No!" He swatted the mask from your hand. He really had to get this done. Just a little while longer, then he'd rest - then he'd let you do whatever you needed to do.
You pursed your lips looking at the delirious medic in front of you.
"You know, I really didn't want to have to do this but I - "
Kix rolled his eyes, unconsciously gripping the oxygen to his face as he took another short, gasping breath. He knew what you'd say next. It was the same thing he'd say to Captain Rex, or even General Skywalker when they fought him on coming to the medbay.
"Are you really gonna pull the medic rank card on me?" He interrupted.
"Do I have to?" You looked pointedly at him. You were annoyed, yes, but you were also concerned. He knew you'd seen dying patients with more life in their eyes than he currently did.
He looked down at the long list of tasks he had yet to do and sighed in defeat. "No. I guess not."
"Good."
He couldn't identify the look on your face as he allowed you to lead him to a bed. Your hand lingered on his arm for a moment too long as you delivered a sedative into his veins. But for some reason he didn't mind.
"Don't worry, Kix." you said softly as you watched his eyes flutter shut. "You're safe. I'll take it from here."
Kix allowed himself to succumb to the peaceful allure of sleep even as your words echoed through his brain. "Let me take care of you, you stupid, beautiful, stubborn man."
Boys Will Be Boys | Hunter or Crosshair from The Bad Batch
Summary:Â In which the team's medic always finds herself patching up Hunter and Crosshair after one of their 'disagreements.'
Warning:Â language, mentions of rough fighting and severe injuries (inflicted by one another), bruised bones and knife wound, mention of stitches and needles, slight blood, and quarreling brothers
Pairing:Â Hunter x Fem!Reader Medic or Crosshair x Fem!Reader Medic
Type:Â Oneshot
Word Count: 2.8k
Note: Fully inspired by Echo's line of dialogue shown below
For the first time in a long time, the Marauder was nearly empty and entirely quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the soft humming coming from the team's medic who'd chosen to stay behind on one of the missions. You made sure to keep yourself busy, opting to organize a few bins of medical supplies on the nearby shelf.
The peace and quiet had suddenly broken when the familiar sound of Wrecker's booming voice called from the outside of the ship. You didn't really think anything of it at first because Wrecker naturally had a loud voice. But what you didn't realize was that he was calling for you.
The chaotic mess that accompanied them began to trail into the entrance of the ship. Their loud footsteps and intermixing voices filled the space, calling for you once again. And this time, you heard them more clearly.
Rounding the corner of the cockpit, your gaze immediately fell on the horrific sight in front of you. You gasped a little louder than anticipated, hands flying up to cover your mouth.
Currently, Wrecker had one of his bulky arms underneath Hunter's arm to support his weight and help him into the ship. The sergeant was barely able to stand on his own two feet and was clutching the side of his abdomen, wincing at each movement due to the severe pain. His bottom lip was also cut and bleeding slightly.
Behind them, Tech was doing the exact same thing only with Crosshair beside him. Now Crosshair didn't look any better. He walked with a limp and he had a black eye on the right side of his face which was only growing deeper in color with each passing second.
Both Wrecker and Tech were careful to escort the other two into the cockpit. They helped them onto the medical table, double checking to make sure they were settled before beginning to help them strip away the parts of their armor. They meticulously took off each piece with great care so that they wouldn't cause further pain.
Once they were finished putting the spare armor pieces to the side, Wrecker and Tech went to step away and silently joined Echo in the background. The two of them sat in only their blacks. You hurried to stand in front of them, taking a brief second to take in what was in front of you.
"W--What the hell happened to you two?" You demanded an explanation because you had honestly never seen them in a worse state. The two of them kept their eyes closed as they continued to writhe in pain.
"Nothing," Hunter grunted out while still clutching his side. He keened forward in his place in hopes of easing his discomfort.
"We knew what we were doing," Crosshair added. He was panting slightly as if trying to catch his breath. You glanced between the two of them with furrowed eyebrows.
"What's that supposed to mean?" You wondered. You were curious if they were keeping something from you as their vague answers did not satisfy you.
"Ask him," Crosshair hissed. He seemed to glare at his older brother through the corner of his eyes.
"Can we not talk about this right now?" Hunter pleaded. The pain was becoming almost too unbearable for him. He withdrew his hand from his side only to show that his hand was caked in his own blood.
"I'm not doing anything until one of you tells me what the hell happened," you reminded them. Waiting for an answer, you crossed your arms over your chest and glanced between the two of them. Neither of them wanted to look directly at you.
Hesitantly, Hunter lifted his head and looked at his brother sitting right beside him. He breathed steadily to himself to maintain his composure. He desperately needed some medical assistance, but he knew how stubborn you were. So he needed to come up with something.
"M-Mercenaries," Hunter spoke through gritted teeth.
"Mercenaries? Really? " You repeated with a cocked eyebrow. He nodded his head. "You need to work on your lying skills."
"I'm telling the truth," Hunter reassured her. He made a point to hold your gaze, but you still didn't believe him.
"Tech?" You called from over your shoulder without looking away.
"They were otherwise occupied in one of their fights," Tech replied without hesitation and without looking up from his data pad.
"Again?!?" You spoke with such shock that it caused both of them to wince at your words.
"Look," Hunter began. "We didn't really mean to take it as far as we did--"
"Bullshit," you interrupted him. You gestured to his side that he still clutched to help with the bleeding. "He stabbed you for crying out loud!"
"He was really asking for it," Crosshair commented. His eyes still flashed with anger. "And he started it anyways."
"I don't want to hear it," your voice rose a little louder to speak over him. You raised a hand to stop them. "This is the fourth fight you've gotten into this month. And I am here wasting precious materials to fix and bandage you both up each time. It's getting ridiculous!"
"We're sorry," Hunter spoke timidly.
"Don't tell me you're sorry. Tell each other you are sorry."
Neither of them were willing to do this which just proved how narrow-minded and stubborn headed they were towards each other.
Quickly turning away from them, you hurried towards the neatly organized shelf of medical supplies. You reached for various materials, stuffing what you could carry into the contents of your arms. Returning to the medical bench, you laid out the tools to view and inspect clearly.
Using your own data pad, you quickly took a thorough scan of the both of them to survey the extent of their injuries. While Hunter had sustained a knife wound to the left side of his abdomen, it had thankfully not pieced anything important. His knuckles were incredibly brushed and bloody. His lip was cut roughly. He'd definitely feel sore in the morning from taking such a harsh beating.
On the other hand, Crosshair managed to sprain his ankle during his tumble with his brother. He had two bruised ribs which he was lucky they didn't break. And he sported a nasty black eye right over his tattoo.
You quickly assessed that you'd need to help the sergeant first given that he had a knife wound and was still bleeding slightly. You handed the sniper an ice pack for his eye to temporarily ease the pain before you directed all of your attention to the other brother. You gingerly stepped forward to stand between his legs, reaching forward to grasp the edge of his top.
You made sure to help him out of the top of his blacks carefully, being extra mindful of the wound on his left side. He winced slightly as the material bunched around his shoulder. With great discomfort, Hunter managed to raise his arm in order to slide and remove the rest of his top from his arms. He discarded the piece of material onto the floor without a care in the world.
Now Hunter was sitting shirtless on the medical bench. His hand returned to the spot on the side of his abdomen, which was caked in his dried blood and still oozing with fresh blood under his fingertips. Taking the bottle of alcohol disinfectant, you doused a cloth in the clear liquid. You needed to clean the wound before you'd be able to stitch it up.
"This might sting a little," you spoke honestly.
With some hesitation, Hunter removed his hand from his side to allow you space to work. You carefully brought the wet cloth to his bleeding slide, pressing it into the gaping skin. As if on cue, Hunter practically lurched forward in his place. He gripped the edge of the table so tightly that his knuckles started to bleed again. His eyes squeezed shut to block out the pain.
"Sorry," you added because you hated seeing him in pain.
You went to wipe away some of the remaining blood around the wound and cleaned the skin thoroughly. Tossing the bloody cloth onto the table, you went to retrieve a needle and thread so you'd be able to sow it shut right afterwards. You threaded the string through the eye of the needle, leaning forward slightly to begin stitching his skin back together.
This wasn't the first time you'd given any of them stitches since they had many wounds inflicted to them over the years. However, this one could have easily been prevented if Hunter and Crosshair hadn't gotten into their little fight. You worked swiftly and steadily with the needle.
"What was it this time?" You asked out of pure curiosity and you could have sworn that the sergeant tensed under your touch. The two of them glanced at one another as if trying to secretly trying to relay something.
"Like he said: it was nothing." Crosshair spoke for the both of them. He drew his gaze away from his older brother. He recalled the conversation leading up to their fight, but it only made him angrier in the moment.
"Tech?" You repeated without looking away from your work.
"They were fighting over you this time," Tech replied without missing a beat. You raised your eyebrows in slight surprise at this confession, but your thoughts were quickly interrupted.
"Such a fucking tattletale," Crosshair scoffed. He sent his twin a deadly glare, but Tech didn't even seem to notice. He was too absorbed in the contents of his data pad. "He's always been like this," Crosshair said to his brother beside him.
"Yeah, I know. I was always there," Hunter grunted as the needle threaded through his tatted skin once again.
"At least I wasn't a biter as a cadet," Tech shot back. That was when he decided to lift his head so that he could look directly into his brother's narrowed eyes.
"You did bite a lot of people, Crosshair." Wrecker released a hefty laugh. He arms crossed over the length of his chest. He smiled at the fond memories of them as little cadets. "The regs especially."
"Just leave already," Crosshair growled at them.
Not wanting to anger him any longer, the other three members filed out of the cockpit and retreated back into their bunks for the night. They sealed the cockpit door behind them.
"Going back to this fight..." your voice seemed to betray you and trailed off into nothing. You glanced between the two of them as if searching for some kind of answer. "You were fighting over me?"
A quick tie of the thread and a cut with scissors meant your work was done for stitching. Neither of them seemed to say anything as you retrieved some more gauze from the side. You took one of the sergeant's big hands into your own, turning it over to begin wrapping his cut knuckles.
"Yeah," Hunter breathed steadily. He didn't even realize what he confessed to at first, but it was much too late now. "We were."
His eyes were transfixed on the way your fingers moved so delicately against his own. His breath had since caught in the back of his throat. He no longer felt the severe pain coursing through his side. You always managed to make him feel better and it wasn't just your medical skills that did the trick.
For the longest time, Hunter had been utterly fascinated by you. It went far beyond your medical knowledge and expertise in the field. You were known to be an honest and genuine person; someone who every member of his squad had grown to love and respect. You were a gentle-hearted soul which brought a newfound warm light to the otherwise hardcore company of brothers.
Slowly, Hunter watched the way you raised your head to look at him through your lashes. You had just finished wrapping his knuckles, gently laying them back down in his lap. He could feel your breath fanning against his face as you stood right between his legs. He briefly glanced down at your lips. And he wanted nothing more than to capture them in his own. But he knew better than to do something so careless.
You missed the quick glance he casted to your lips, but your eyes were fixed on his cut. You really couldn't do anything about the cut on his lip; it would heal in its own time. He silently thanked you with his gaze alone. And now your attention went to his younger brother sitting beside him.
"Why were you fighting over me?" You asked them with a hint of genuine concern behind your facial expression. You wondered if you'd be able to get a response out of the sniper now that all your attention was directed to him.
"We...we share...a common interest," Crosshair confessed honestly. He would have never said if the rest of his brothers were present, but there was just something about the way you looked up at him that made him cave.
Kneeling down onto the ground, you were able to hoist his bad leg onto your lap. You began to wrap his ankle carefully because you didn't want to cause him anymore pain than he was already in. You looped the stream of gauze around the backside of his ankle, bringing it back over the side and to the front. You briefly glanced up at him.
"In me?" You wanted clarification.
Both Hunter and Crosshair silently nodded their heads in response.
Avoiding their gaze, you went back to tying the knot on the wrapped ankle in your lap. You rose to your feet in a slow manner. You reached for the end of the sniper's top, carefully helping him remove it until he too was shirtless like his brother.
You had seen them shirtless countless times before and you always managed to remain medically professional. But there was something different about them now. This newfound revelation made you look at them in a slightly different light. The mere sight of their bare chests had your breath catching in the back of your throat. You knew if you weren't careful in regulating your breathing, Hunter was going to catch on sooner than later. Hell, he might have already caught on at this point.
You began to wrap a supportive brace around Crosshair's torso of bruised ribs, knowing that they'd need the extra support to help heal over the next couple days. You made sure not to make it too tight or too loose, watching for any discomfort behind his eyes. But you never saw any.
Now, having finished tending to their various injuries, you took a single step backwards and stood timidly in their presence. You still weren't able to look either of them in the eyes. When you realized how long you'd been silent and that they were waiting for some type of response from you, you tried to find the right words to express yourself.
"This is unexpected," you spoke softly. You just couldn't believe that two brothers had gotten into a quarrel over you. It went so far that one of them got stabbed this time around.
Had they fought over your before this? What were they fighting over specifically? Who else knew about this? And what else were they willing to do for you?
"You don't have to do anything with this information," Hunter wanted to reassure you. "And I hope this doesn't make things weird between us."
"It doesn't," you confessed with a small shake of the head. The corners of your lips twitched into a smile. "I'm certainly flattered...and honestly at a loss for words right now. I'm not really sure how to feel."
"You can have all the time in the world to think about how you feel," Hunter replied. He didn't have any expectations of where he wanted this to go for him, but he did want you to be comfortable around them. And you were going to need time to do that now that they had confessed to you.
"I'll...see you both around," you mentioned rather awkwardly.
Taking another step backwards to dismiss yourself from their presence, you wanted to get out of the cockpit before they could see the evident blush creeping onto your cheeks. You sent them a small wave and slipped out of the cockpit before they could say anything else to you.
Just as the door closed, Hunter and Crosshair seemed to breath a small sigh of relief. Their gazes were now directed to the solid steel floor underneath them, thinking about the confession and conversation that had just transpired.
"Well, that's out of the bag now." Crosshair spoke up first.
"Give her some time. I'm sure it's a lot for her to process. She'll come around," Hunter shrugged his shoulders.
"When she does come around, I hope you won't be too heartbroken with her choice." Crosshair taunted him. A sly smirk curved near the corner of his lip, knowing the mere power of his words and how they always managed to irritate his older brother. A deadly glare was sent his way in response.
Crosshair knew just the right thing to say to get under his brother's skin and if he wasn't careful, Hunter was bound to start another quarrel with him. But that's just something brothers do.
A Marriage Of Convenience
Summary: You and Kix have been friends for years, since near the start of the war to be more precise. So, when you ask him to marry you, in the hopes that a legal wedding would finally give him and his brothers the rights that they deserve, he jumped at the chance. It worked. And now, four years later, with the war over, youâre still happily married to your best friend.
Pairing: Clone Medic Kix x F!Reader
A/N: So this whole idea was born from the many asks I got on Saturday about this very topic. Also, I'm feeling much better, it seems like my fever finally broke late last night. Maybe. I haven't actually checked, lol.
Kix wakes slowly, taking his time to fight off the claws of sleep that want to drag him back into dreamland.
Not that thereâs any reason for him to be awake, heâs not a soldier anymore and the clinic is closed today, so he could sleep in if he wanted to. But, even now, years after the war sleeping in feels wrong to him.Â
So he lays in bed and blinks hazily at the ceiling, waiting to wake up enough that heâs able to roll over and look at his comm to make sure none of his brothers did something stupid last night.
Kix is about to roll out of bed, intent on starting his normal routineâ an hour-long run, and then showering before making breakfastâ when he hears a groan from next to him.Â
His riduur is slowly waking up, and he canât stop the smile that crosses his face at the sight of her lying there. Her hair is a mess, sticking up in random directions, and curling into her face.Â
She blinks at him blearily, âKix?â
âGood morning, riduur,â He sits up and leans over to brush a curl off her face, only for it to spring right back into place, and he has to muffle his laughter. âYour hair has taken on a life of its own.â
âSâalright,â She mumbles, âIt does that sometimes.â She yawns widely, and Kix feels his heart clench. She really is unfairly adorable. Good thing heâs already locked her down and he doesnât have to worry about anyone stealing her from him.
âYou can go back to sleep, riduur,â Kix says lightly as he lightly pushes her hair out of her face so he can see her pretty eyes, âItâs early.â
âYouâre awake,â She accuses as she rubs her cheek against his hand.
âI have a thing about sleeping in,â Kix replies, âYou know this, cyarâika.â
She squints at him, âSomeday, Iâm going to make one of your brothers tell me what those words mean,â
He leans in as if to share a secret, âTheyâll never tell you because Iâm scarier than you are.â
She pouts at him, and itâs almost enough to make him want to tell her what riduur and cyarâika and cyare mean. Almost.
âKix,â She whines his name and it takes all of his willpower to keep breathing, âWe should sleep some more.â
âCyare,â He teases her, âIâm going to go for a run.â
Somehow, her pout becomes more pronounced, âBut sleep.â
âIâm not stopping you from sleeping in, cyarâika.â Kix reassures, âAnd Iâm certainly not going to force you to go on a run with me.â
âGood. If you did Iâd ask for a divorce.â
âOuch.â Kix replies with a laugh, âNo need to worry, riduur, I know youâre allergic to running.â
âIâm only going to run if someone is chasing me,â She yawns again and buries her face in her pillow, her gaze locked on his face.
âGood to know.â Kix watches her watching him, and he raises a single brow, âWhy are you staring?â
She grins at him and sits up suddenly, flinging her arms around his neck and knocking him back onto the bed.
Itâs so surprising that a startled laugh falls from him, âRiduurââ
She buries her face in his neck and drapes one of her legs across his hips, her arms tightening around him, âThere. Now we sleep.â Her breath is warm against his neck and Kix shivers, unable to help himself.
Slowly his arms wrap around her, one of his hands tangling in her hair, while the other slowly strokes her back, âSomeoneâs clingy this morning.â He murmurs in her ear.
âIâm clingy every morning,â She replies as she rubs her nose against his neck, âYou just normally get up before I can be clingy.â
Kix hums thoughtfully and then shifts his head so that his nose is pressed into her hair. She smells citrusy, a mix of her shampoo, body wash, and the lotion she prefers. Itâs a scent that heâs come to associate with her and with safety.
Itâs a scent heâs come to associate with love. His love for her, to be more specific.
Kix doesnât say anything for a moment, and heâs almost positive that sheâs fallen back to sleep while half lying on him, until her fingers curl into the thin material of the shirt he wears to bed.
âWhatâs up, cyare?â Kix asks as he glances down to try and see her face.
She shifts so that her face isnât buried in his neck, and the expression on her face isnât one heâs ever seen before. Itâs soft and warm and makes goosebumps spread across his entire body.
âKix,â His name is a sigh on her lips and his arms tighten around her, pulling a startled squeak from her. A smile spreads across her face and she shifts so sheâs able to press her hand against his cheek.
Kix closes his eyes and leans into her touch.
âIâve been thinking,â She murmurs.
âAbout?â She doesnât say anything for a moment, and Kix opens his eyes to look at her, her expression has become slightly wistful as she gazes up at him, âCyare?â
âThis whole thing started as a way to get you all rights,â She murmurs, âAnd it worked. Youâre all legal citizens of the Republic.â She pauses her thumb lightly trailing against his jaw, âIfâŠif you wanted a divorce,â She says quietly, âSo you can find someone you actually loveââ
âStop.â Kix interrupts and she immediately falls silent. He slowly moves his hands to cup her face, âI want you. Only you.â
She blinks at him, and then she huffs, âYou donât love me, Kixââ
âSays who?â
She blinks at him dumbly, âWhat?â
âWho says I donât love you?â
â...General Skywalker said that the marriage wasââ
âI havenât spoken to Skywalker since the war ended. How would he know?â Kix points out.
She blinks at him again.
Kix sighs, âListen to me, riduur. Are you listening?â
âYeah.â
âI love you. Iâve loved you for ages. And itâs fine if you donât feel the same way. Iâm happy with how we are. I absolutely do not want a divorce.â
â...you donât?â
âNo, I donât.â
She shifts slightly so that sheâs lying on top of him, her gaze scanning his face as if trying to determine if heâs lying to her or not. And then she releases a soft sigh and she leans in to press her forehead against his, âYou love me?â
Kix smiles at her, âYou single-handedly won rights for me and my brothers. How could I not love you?â
âNot single-handedly.â
âClose enough.â He counters dismissively.
A soft laugh falls from her lips, and Kix canât help the small grin that crosses his face at the sound.Â
And then, quickly, she presses her lips against his.
Itâs the first time theyâve kissed since their wedding day and Kix immediately leans into the kiss, allowing her to set the pace. And when she breaks the kiss, she looks flustered and she wonât meet his gaze.
It takes him a few moments to reset his brain and his grin is broad, âDoes this mean that all talks of divorce are off the table?â
She shifts and presses her face against his throat, but he feels her nod.
âGood.â Kix tightens his arms around her and adjusts her so that sheâs lying on the bed again. âI suppose I little early morning cuddling would be good for us.â
She peeks up at him, a small grin playing on her lips.
Later heâll comm Rex and get him to find out what, exactly, Skywalker said to his perfect riduur, but for now, she deserves all of his attention. And sheâs going to get it.
The 501st campaign had finished and now you and the rest of the company were trying to clean up and manage the aftermath of battle as much as you could. There had been a few injuries, both troopers and civilians alike, and you and Kix had been working well past the battleâs end to heal and fix people up as best as you could.
You were just taking a break, thankful that you could step outside of the medbay tent and breathe in a sigh of relief. Even though the air still lingered with smoke from the various fires and bombing sites littering the landscape. It had been a tough day, and you wanted to enjoy the relative peace that settled over the base camp as night was falling. Throughout the day, you had lost sight of Kix, both of you being drawn to help different patients and losing yourself in your work.
Now though, you could see Kix was crouching in front of a woman, her stomach round and swollen with child. She looked panicked, anxiously rubbing her bump and speaking in what you could only imagine was a fast and urgent tone. You wondered briefly if you would have to step over and help, perhaps she was going into labour. It would be a rare occurrence, being a frontline medic meant you didnât deliver many people into this world. Mostly you saw life leave, never arriving. But Kix just lay a reassuring hand on her arm before pulling out his scanner. Ah, he was checking her over.
The battle had spilled into where civilians were taking shelter and it had been chaos as the droids kept blasting. No wonder the woman wanted to be checked over and reassured everything was alright. She must have been so scared and stressed during it all.
Watching as Kix assured the woman gently, a kind smile on his face as he helped her steady herself as she stood, you couldnât help but appreciate how caring and gentle your trooper could be. The woman beamed, pressing a hand to her swollen belly before she gave him a quick hug. A giggle quickly flew from you as Kix blushed and patted her back awkwardly.
Kix would never turn down a kind gesture, but after never experiencing tender touches and affection other than from his brothers, he was a bit touch-starved and was still getting used to how freely some people gave into their kind gestures. It was something that Kix and you had to work on when you got first together. Although now, he was like a cuddle bug, not that you would ever say that to his face. You didnât want to embarrass the man.
âThinking about the future?â a voice interrupted your thoughts. You turned around to see Jesse sliding up to you and smiling softly.
âSomething like thatâ you muttered quietly, not wanting to disturb the small semblance of peace that had gathered around the 501st camp. It was rare to get any down time, so you had to take it when you could.
âDonât rush to make me an Uncle, vodâika, but⊠I know you make him happy. And whatever your future holds, Kix wants to be there by your sideâ Jesse said softly, nudging your shoulder with his, the pauldron digging into you slightly.
âI canât imagine my life without himâ you admitted, smiling slightly as Kix handed the woman over to another trooper, instructing them to escort her safely back home. He was always so caring, sometimes it felt overwhelming to have his love and attention on you. It was too much to know what to do with it.
âWe all know that! You guys are sickening. Sickening! But Iâll leave you to your staringâ Jesse teased, reaching to ruffle your hair before you slapped his hands away, glaring at the ARC trooper.
âAsshole!â you grumbled, flipping him off as he walked away, laughing at you as he went.
âWhat did he do now?â the voice of your beautiful trooper asked, coming to stand in front of you where you were perched on a stack of crates.
âOh you know Jesse, being a pain in the arse and thinking heâs funnyâ you grinned, reaching to trace the line of Kixâs belt.
âAh, just being himself thenâ he agreed, resting a hand on your knee and giving it a quick squeeze. âCome with me cyarâika, Iâve still got some work to do in my officeâ he told you, offering you his hand to help you down off the stack of crates.
The gloved hand felt warm against yours, and you couldnât help but admire the size of his hands dwarfing your smaller ones. The course material sent tingles up your arm as you steadied yourself against his chest as you hopped down. âWhat? You mean the medbay tent?â you scoffed, imagining just how much of an office Kix had.
âThey put a desk and chair in there, guess it must qualify as oneâ Kix drawled, smiling wryly at you as he led the way to his office. Along the way, he stopped to check on many injured brothers, reassuring his vode as they rested and healed.
You didnât need a reminder of how skilled and brilliant he was as a CMO, but seeing him with his patients, the compassion and care in which he treated everyone â well you couldnât help but fall more in love with him.
Kix gave so much of himself to others, put his heart out there in order to try and save as many lives as he could. It came at a cost of course, you had been there for him when he had lost vode, when he couldnât save people. Had held him to you as he had nightmares of all the people that slipped through his grasp, when he felt the blood drip down his arms and woke up screaming.
Nodding his head at you towards his office, you were finally able to slip away from them.
As expected, the office that had been given to Kix was little more than a cot pushed to the wall, a small desk and a chair. You could probably cover the distance between desk and bed in two paces. It was as glamorous as it could be while on-planet in a battle zone.
Kix grunted as he fell into the chair, body sinking into it as exhaustion crept up on him.
âYou were really sweet with her, you know. Iâm sure you helped soothe her mind about the babyâ you smiled sweetly at your medic as you perched on his desk.
âWho?â he frowned, brows furrowed in confusion. He had seen many patients today, not all of them vode, but a lot of civilians too.
âThat woman you just treated, just before you found meâ you reminded gently, running a hand through his dark curls. His eyes slipped shut and the tension in his body began to bleed out of him.
âI only did what I would if it was you, cyarâika. Iâd want to make sure you and our child had the best possible care to make sure you were safeâ he assured, slumping further into his chair and squeezing your knee with his large, warm hand.
Your breath caught in your throat. Had Kix been imagining a future with you? One where you were carrying his child and were settled down. Of course, others had told you the same, that Kix was in love with you and wanted to make you his riddur. Part of you didnât believe it, didnât want to because you were in the middle of a war. Anything could happen. But still⊠It made heat flood through your system as you hooked your feet around the arm rests and rolled him closer towards you.
âYouâve thought about us having children?â you asked softly, hope stirring in your chest.
Kix looked abashed for a second, looking away and rubbing at the back of his neck. It was obviously something he didnât think he would be telling you quite yet. âSometimes, when itâs been a rough mission. It helps to think about what could be in our future⊠when the war is over, I know I want to spend it with you, if youâd have meâ Kix murmured, his cheeks colouring to a dusty pink. He looked away from you feeling uncomfortable and unsure of how you would react to his words.
âKix, sweetheart, Iâd love for that to happen. I canât imagine a future without you in it and if by some chance that includes a little Kix, then I would be the happiest person in the galaxyâ you assured, cupping his cheek to guide him up to your face and pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.
He sunk into your hold, hands coming to lay on your thighs and rub the rough materials of your scrubs. You flicked your tongue against the seam of his lips, delighting in the small sigh he let out when he opened his mouth to your adventurous tongue.
âWhat would you say if I said we should get some practice in?â you breathed, only pulling away enough to get the words out. Your lips brushed every so often, but you didnât care, content to have Kix this close to you. Already you could feel excitement rush through you at the thought of Kix making love to you, pushing his seed inside of you so that you could have a child together. His devotion and care to you, the willingness he showed you that he was ready for whatever the future would hold for the pair of you. It made your heart ache at the love that Kix demonstrated to you, over and over again.
âIâd say weâd best get to it, loveâ he rasped out, voice low and deep, not the least bit shy in hiding how affected he was from just a simple kiss from you.
Giggling, you wrapped your arms around his neck as his hands went under your ass, lifting you up against his cool plastoid armour. Tightening your legs around his waist, you clung to him as he carried you over to the small cot in the corner of the room. You couldnât help but press feather light kisses along his jaw and down his neck, stopping just where the blacks covered up the rest.
Placing you down on the mattress, Kix nudged his way in between your knees and cupped your face. He smiled brightly at you, leaning down to kiss you once more. He swallowed your moans as he swept his tongue across your lips to coax them open, teasing your tongue to come and brush against his.
Groaning, you tightened your hold around the edge of his chest plate, bringing him down over your frame. Kix was remarkably strong, and you could tell by the way that his arms bulged underneath his armour as he attempted to pull you closer. He couldnât get enough of you, would never be able to get enough of you.
Pushing him away so you could take in an unsteady breath, you helped relieve him of his armour, Kix aiding you as he got the bottom of his leg armour off and throwing it to the side with a huff.
âImpatient?â you grinned, kissing along his neck and sucking a bruise on his tawny skin.
âLike youâre not soaking under theseâ he retorted, cupping your crotch through the bottom of your scrubs. You moaned at the touch, feeling his fingers push against the wet fabric of your underwear.
âNever said I wasnâtâ you hissed, pushing your hips up into his hand.
âNow, whoâs the impatient one?â he chuckled, running his fingers over your waistline before tugging them and your underwear down your legs in one swift move.
It caused you to moan as the cool air hit your sensitive, wet core, making you clench around nothing. âYou⊠Definitely youâ you managed to stutter out, thoughts becoming harder to grasp as he ran his talented hands up and down your thighs.
Kix winked and dropped to his knees in front of you, pushing your legs wide so that he could look at your glistening entrance. His cock twitched in his blacks and he couldnât stop the small groan that worked up his throat. âMeshâlaâ he breathed, kissing your knee and beginning a trail up your inner thigh. He grazed his teeth against your delicate skin, sucking bruises and marks that would be covered up, but you would know that they were there. Even days after youâd be able to run your fingers over the bruises and remember just how brilliant Kix was at taking care of you.
When he reached the apex of your legs, he gently pushed them open, spreading you wider for his heavy, hot gaze to land on your most intimate of places. âKix! Stop looking and do something!â you growled, getting impatient and feeling your cheeks redden at the attention he was giving your pussy just from looking at it.
âYes maâam!â he smirked, before diving in. He licked a broad stripe up your folds and to your clit, twirling the tip of his tongue around it for a moment before sucking your folds into his mouth.
You cried out at the feeling of his slick tongue parting your lips and the way he took your labia into his mouth, creating a delicious suction that it had you reaching down to thread your fingers through his hair. Kix was incredible with his mouth, knowing just what he needed to do to build up your pleasure.
Using his thumbs to spread you for him, his tongue pushed into you, chasing your sweet nectar straight from the source. He groaned against you, nose rubbing against your clit and making your hips buck into his face.
âGod, youâre perfect!â you gasped, voice high as you looked in between your legs to see his darkened eyes looking up at you. He seemed to enjoy the contact, because he pushed his tongue as far as it could go inside of you, twisting and curling against your walls enough that it had you clenching around the muscle. âKriff!â you hissed, tugging at his hair.
Grunting at the way you guided him against you, he pulled out, fingers replacing his tongue as he opened you up for him. From how wet you were down there, he was quickly up to two fingers, curling them just right and leaving you biting your lip to keep your noises muffled.
âThis what you wanted, cyarâika? Wanted me to get you all wet so I could fill you up?â he murmured, sucking a mark in the crease of your thigh. He was certain that one would be remaining there for a couple of days at least.
âYes, Kix, right there! Donât stop!â you moaned, hips bucking into his hand as he curled his fingers upwards and pressed hard on the spongy bit inside of you. He chuckled, mouth attaching back to your clit and sucking hard, determined to make you cum at least once on his hand and mouth. Your legs trembled around him as he kept a constant pressure on your swollen bundle of nerves, and you could quickly feel yourself soaring, reaching that high that only Kix could bring you.
âPlease, please donât stop!â you begged, eyes squeezed shut as the damn finally burst and you shuddered around his fingers, feeling your orgasm wash through you. Your inner walls fluttered and clenched around Kixâs fingers as they slowed, helping you ride out your orgasm gently. He continued to give kitten licks to your clit and down around his fingers, collecting all of the juices that escaped from around them.
Finally, it was all too much and you pushed his head away from you. Cupping his face, you brought him up to you, staring in awe at the way your slick coated the light stubble of his lower jaw. He looked debauched, positively filthy and proud of it.
Noticing your stare, Kix licked his lips before raising his fingers up to his mouth and sucking them clean.
âFuck! Kix, you shouldnât do thatâ you breathed, eyes widening at the way his tongue ran across the pads of his fingers, chasing the taste of you.
âI've just had my tongue buried inside of you cyarâika, and youâre worried about me licking you off my fingers?â he said in amusement. He grinned at the way you ducked you head, and if it wasnât for the flush already on your cheeks, he was sure youâd be as red as the paint on his armour.
Quickly distracting him further, you pulled him down on top of you, pressing your lips to his. He groaned, letting you into his mouth to get a taste of yourself from his tongue. He could feel the slight moans of appreciation against his lips as you ran your tongue along the roof of his mouth and against his teeth. He caught your bottom lip in a light bite, pulling away slightly and enjoying the groan that you let out as a result.
âTake them off!â you ordered, tugging at the top of his blacks. As you watched him take off his top and begin work on the bottom of his blacks, you quickly tugged the top of your scrubs off as well. Kix groaned though as he saw you in just a chest band, moving forward before his bottoms had even hit the floor.
His large, calloused hands cupped you through the band, massaging the flesh and feeling the weight of them in his hands. He groaned, placing two delicate kisses on the curves of your breasts, one on each of them. âLove your beautiful titsâ he groaned, landing a kiss to your chin that had you giggling.
âReally, I never would have guessedâ you teased him, reaching behind you for the clasp. Kix watched eagerly as you released the mechanism and threw away the offending piece of clothing. Sighing, you couldnât help but feel relieved to finally have it off.
âPrettiest girl in the whole of the galaxyâ he whispered, leaning you back against the cot and kissing down the valley of your breasts and underneath the curve of them.
âPrettiest clone in the whole of the GARâ you praised, tracing the tattoo along his temple, the rest covered by his long hair. It didnât matter, Kix was beautiful, and he always would be. Even if he shared his faces with millions of brothers, none of them would look as handsome and pretty as your Kix.
âCanât wait until these swell up, cyarâika. When they fill up full of milk for our babyâ he groaned, laying kisses and small nips all around your breasts before taking one into his mouth, lathering it with attention. He flicked his tongue over the hardening bud, making sure to give your chest a squeeze as he ground down into your thigh. It almost seemed like he wanted to taste your non-existent milk as well, determined to get your breasts nice and flushed for him. The nipple, hard, aching and wet from the way he took you into his talented mouth.
âKix!â you keened, hips bucking up into his and feeling the pre-cum smear against your thigh. You could just imagine how much you would ache and how Kix would offer to help relieve some of the pressure from your swollen breasts.
âAnd if they get blocked up, Iâll eagerly suck them until theyâre unblocked. Do anything for you meshâla, but especially worshipping your gorgeous tits. Especially if itâs going to help youâ he murmured, becoming lost in your shared fantasy and the way you felt in his mouth, switching between both breasts until you felt your breath become heavy and your thoughts disappear from your head. All you could focus on was the way Kix felt pressed against you, the way his mouth felt against your sensitive nipples and the words that he was whispering into your skin.
You couldnât help the moan that escaped you, his words sending fire thrumming through your veins. The coil in your stomach was building and building as Kix did as he promised, worshipping every inch of your chest with his trailing and pinching fingers and wickedly, talented mouth.
âKix! Need you, need you to fuck me, breed meâ you pleaded, tugging his dark curls to pull him away from you.
If possible, Kixâs eyes darkened and a wicked smile spread across his face. âOh meshâla, I promise, by the time Iâm done with you, thereâll be no doubt as to who bred youâ he said filthily, pushing himself up on his knees and positioning you more securely on the bed. He hooked his forearms under your legs and pulled you down until your lower half was lifted slightly off the mattress and your legs were wrapped around his waist.
Kriff, you were so open to him, as you realised that he could see everything from the way he had laid you out like a feast on his upper thighs. No doubt he could see your glistening, puffy folds, the way your bud was all swollen and engorged from his earlier attentions. Flushing, you tried to hide your face behind your arm, but he tutted, having none of that as he pulled your arm away, keeping it pinned by your side.
When he was sure that you were going to keep it there, he gripped his cock at the base, giving it a few pumps that had him gritting his teeth. You flashed him a flirty grin and pushed your chest out for him. His eyes zeroed in on your chest, seeing the dark marks and the puffy nipples that he had sucked on.
âMeshâla, are you ready for me?â he asked, tapping the head of his cock against your clit a couple of times. You hissed, clutching the sheets beneath you at the way your pussy clenched around nothing.
âFuck me, Kix! Iâve been ready since you first kissed meâ you grumbled, trying to rock your hips to get closer to him, but the angle and position he had you in made it impossible to move like you wanted.
Squeezing your thigh in reply, he lined himself up and slid inside of you with one stroke. The sudden feeling of his hardened length inside of you, forcing your quivering walls open and making room for himself had you letting out a cry of his name, hands coming to clutch at the ones holding your legs around his waist.
âKriff you fill me so good, feel you everywhereâ you gasped, eyes squeezed shut as you adjusted to the size of him. Thank Jango for how hung his clones were. It felt like Kix was spearing you open, even after he had opened you up on his mouth and fingers.
âNot filled you yet, loveâ he grinned, leaning down to lay kisses along your collarbone. He collected the sweat that was collecting there with his tongue, tracing patterns on your flushed and heated skin.
âGet to it, Chiefâ you smirked, running your hands through his dark curls, tugging at the ones at the nape of his neck. Kix groaned at his title being used against him and began to withdraw slowly before thrusting back in. He held on tight to you, feeling the way your walls clung to him with every roll of his hips against yours.
When he was positive you were comfortable with his pace, when he could hear the soft little cries on every thrust inside of you, Kix knew you were ready. He lifted both of your legs from around his waist and lifted them up to his chest, wrapping his arm around both your thighs to keep you secure against him.
The new angle was devastating, it allowed him to hit deeper inside of you, almost fucking you down into the mattress as his hips began to pound into you. The restless pace had your crest rising again sooner than you expected, as you could do nothing but take what he was giving you.
âGonna be so round, love. Gonna be massive with my babies. Might keep you like that, youâre gonna be so gorgeousâ he panted, beads of sweat perspiring on his brow as he began running a hand over you stomach. It was like he was already imagining it rounding out and carrying your child. The words of him keeping you like that was a surprise, but it just made you clench down tightly around him. Kix was never one to be so possessive, but the fact that he wanted to keep you, have a family with you had you hoping that the future ahead was going to be good. You both deserved to settle down and be happy.
âGonna be clever, like youâ you whined, gripping his back and pulling him further into you as he leant further down, bending you almost in two. But it had the affect of his cock brushing against that spot that resulted in you slamming a hand over your mouth to keep quiet. There was still injured troopers and civilians outside the office. Anybody could come looking for Kix or you, so it was best to keep it to a minimum. Not that Kix cared, he was lost in the feel of you.
âNuh-huh, like you, like us. Two of the- the best- best medics that the GAR hasâ he groaned, head landing into the crook of your neck at that. His pace was beginning to falter, feeling the way you were squeezing around his cock. The feeling of him pressing inside of you, lifting your hips further up off the mattress had your head spinning and you couldnât help but let out a small cry of his name. You were so close, but you wanted him there with you.
âGoing to fill me, Kix? Want to keep all your cum inside meâ you managed to get out, forcing your eyes open as you watched as Kixâs face screwed up, brow furrowing as he was determined to push you to the edge first. The hand not holding you against him reached in between you, flicking your clit with his thumb just the way you liked, it was enough to have you falling over the edge, your release shattering through you.
Kix groaned at the feel of your walls tightening around him, so tight he could barely move as his own release quickly raced towards him. Feeling the way his balls drew upwards and the way his whole body heated up, he cried out your name as he thrust into you a few more times before shuddering against your frame as he reached his peak.
When he did spill inside of you, you could feel it begin to leak around him and down your ass onto the bed below. It would seem that Kix had really enjoyed himself or that you really hadnât been able to do this for a while. Kix tutted, pulling out and looking at the mess.
âAh, ah, meshâla. We want to keep this all inside of you. How else are you going to have my baby?â he hummed in joy, gathering his cum and pushing it back inside your sensitive opening. He shushed your small whines and gently patted your hip as he continued to feed his cum straight back into your pussy and the fluttering walls around his fingers.
âKixâ you complained, pulling away from him entirely, he gave your knee a tender kiss before putting your legs down, massaging your joints to make sure you werenât sore after he held them in place.
âStay there, cyarâika, Iâm going to get some clean sheets and something to clean us up withâ he shushed, kissing your forehead before getting off the bed. He grabbed his blacks, grimacing at the feeling of putting them back on his sweaty body.
As he was raiding the supply closet, he ran into Sergeant Coric. The medic sent him a raised eyebrow and a judgemental look. âI, and the rest of our brothers, donât need to know about you and your ladyâs kinks, vod. Next time, fuck in a place with solid wallsâ Coric drawled, making Kix flush in mortification.
âSorry⊠er⊠it wonât happen againâ he mumbled an apology, wishing the ground could open up and swallow him whole.
âIt better not⊠buirâ he retorted, shoving fresh sheets and water packs into his arms before walking out.
Kix sighed, dragging a hand over his face. How on earth would he and his cyare be able to look at any one of these men in the eye. At least Coric didnât seem too mad, the clone always did have a dry, sarcastic sense of humour.
Returning quickly back to his cyare, he found you half asleep, dozing as the events of the day and the round of fucking caught up with you. Shaking you gently, he roused you enough to get you up and sitting on his chair. Handing you a water pack, he quickly changed the sheets and freshened the bed up as much as he could.
Noticing how your eyes were starting to close again, Kix took a spare bit of cloth and wetted it with his own water pack. Swiftly, with all the due diligence and experience of a Chief Medical Officer, he washed you both down before helping to guide you back into bed.
You grumbled at him, not wanting to move any more. All you wanted was to lie down and catch up on some much needed rest before you would be on shift again.
âI know love, just got to get you comfy, otherwise youâd moan all day tomorrowâ he smiled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and bringing you into his chest.
âI donât moanâ you protested weakly, taking in his soothing smell and the way he was drawing patterns along your spine.
Chuckling lightly at your response, he realised that he had to ask you something. It was something that he should have asked at the start but well⊠he had become much too distracted to give it a proper thought. âSo, is this something you actually want or is it a sex thing?â Kix asked, stroking up and down your back as you shuffled closer to him on the small cot in the corner of the office.
âMaybe some day in the future but Iâm not sure. I really like the sex thing thoughâ you smiled, leaning up to prop your chin on his chest to look up at him.
âGood, because I really like the sex thing too, meshâlaâ he grinned, pulling you up for another kiss. However, sleep soon faded from both of your minds as you soon both became lost in each other again, ready to give the breeding kink another test run. Even if you were both on implants at this very moment. There was no harm in practising after all.
