honestly really digging the way my haircut turned out. I generally have no idea wtf I'm ever doing with my hair (I once read a wikihow about cutting your own hair and then completely disregarded it bc it wasn't helpful and decided I would just Do Shit and figure it out myself) and just start chopping whenever I hit a "I have too much fucking hair I don't wanna have to wash it I need less hair RIGHT NOW" breaking points and just take a little bit of length off one side and shsve part of the other to fulfill the less hair goal. today I was like hey what if instead of cutting it all to the same length I just make a bunch of strands and cut them different lengths and try to get a layered/feathery/idk hair terms kinda look

fully expecting that it would turn out like total shit and I'd just fix it by cutting everything above a certain point down to the same length. because I literally had no idea what the fuck I was doing. I did not even try googling anything about how you're actually supposed to do shit like that, I just started cutting what I thought made sense.

but it turned out surprisingly close to what I was imagining? like it's definitely not as good as if I went to a real stylist and said what I wanted, but it's good enough that I'm really happy with it

#i also don't have actual haircutting tools or anything i use craft scissors #i used to have some nice clippers i used to buzz a whole side but lost them in our hellish move snd never bothered replacing em #i just use the same shavers i use on my body hair. more time/effort for worse results but like i don't strive for perfection i strive for #good enough. replacing clippers would mean spending money i'll take my ratchet solution #i still want to go to cosmetology school as a stepping stone to being a mortician but sometimes i get nervous abt it bc like. i don't like #having to do things by the book and Properly! i like Just Doing shit without caring. learning by trial and error not by reading
