Good Omens meeting in Prague 31.5. - 2.6.2024

Thank you so much @cliopadra and others for making this weekend such a joyful experience! 🥰

31.5. Friday

I've travelled from Brno to Prague by train with three other czech GO fans I hadn't met before but we booked 4 seats around the same table so we could had a nice chat on the way to Prague. I've learned that Brno is too damn small since there is a university faculty and people connecting us all. :D <3

The meeting at the evening meeting all others (there was cca 40 of us) was at Andělský Pivovar restaurant in Prague (which could be translated as Angel Brewery :)) I was absolutely ngked by the wonderful bags cliopadra made us with a 'feather pen', their stickers and a small black booklet which each had a different front (with quotes and motives from Good Omens), I chose To The World :) 😊 and also and further during the weekend I got more gifts from fellow fans, NGK, thank you!

1.6. Saturday

We were supposed to have a picnic this day on Petřín (a hill in Prague) but some demon was messing too much with the rainy weather so we had an indoor picnic :). There was so much food since everybody brought something! :D <3 I wish I had bigger stomach to try it all :D. The wings gingerbread were amazing and I felt like at Christmas :) <3.

2.6. Sunday

We had a walk through the Prague centre themed about angels and demons and the final lunch. The funniest moment was when we went to St. Nicolaus church and I am admiring the frescos and ceiling and I hear laughing so I look at my right and our cosplay Crowley is surreptitiously hopping on one leg. All of us started laughing so rather we left the church :D <3.

During the weekend we also send the black booklets clio gave us around so people could leave a message. These are in mine. Also I asked Clio to draw me Izzy from OFMD which they did absolutely perfectly, I am in love with it! (thank you Clio! :) <3) (I asked if they can doodle me Izzy and they asked, 'What is your favourite ship?' and I said, 'Just Izzy and happiness.' :D <3)

I am still half ded and my social battery is empty but it was wonderful to meet all of you! ❤🥰

CAMP AMBER ROAD

In the year 1860, Camp Half-Blood migrated from Europe to America. For the European demigods who weren't brought there, it meant being left behind to fend for themselves.

And although the monster attacks became less frequent and the monsters less vicious, a dark era began.

Times changed, traveling abroad became more available to the common man. The American camp came within reach for the European demigod population again, but this isn't the only possiblity anymore: within the borders of Poland, a brand new camp was opened, now welcoming demigods from all of Europe!

Right now, in 2024, summer is about to start and Principal Lydia Wieczorek, daughter of Clio, is welcoming you in the Jan Parandowski School Complex no.3 in Janczarno!

I would be super fascinated to learn more about how Peglar's views re. If humans get to be people why can't I, affects his relationship with Bridgens - and really just about how they came to be in/navigate through that relationship. Your art is adorable and I love it doubly more so for the amount of care and consideration you have for the inner works of creating a dog/cat boy world. :)

aw thank you this au really is my brain going "crack treated seriously" and somehow making This and im glad other ppl enjoy it too. i have a lot of thoughts on this in terms of how much history to keep and how much to disregard so its under the cut:

so apparently in the book (which i have not read and do not plan to read) bridglar met on the hms beagle and as far as i can tell thats completely made up bc peglar was sailing w the east india company at the time.

then theres the show weirdness of bridgens being like in his 50s/60s when irl bridgens was in his 20s and this makes more sense bc as far as i can tell the position of steward was usually one reserved for younger men so for 50smth bridgens to be jfj's steward is a little odd and esp odd if hes a human in a position that is typically meant for cat/dogboys so my logic for this is that either 1) jfj requested bridgens to be his steward or 2) bridgens requested to be jfj's steward and either option would mean giving bridgens and jfj a slightly closer relationship than what they have in show canon which is fine that just means peglar and bridgens likely met during the first opium war but then how they met is still a mystery bc peglar would be aboard the wanderer with hodgson and bridgens would be on the cornwallis/clio with jfj so like ???

POINT BEING for all the reasons above ive handwaved away exactly how they meet but AT SOME POINT they do meet during the first opium war. peglar was the one who initiated the relationship tho the two of them did have mutual feelings for each other before committing to anything and bridgens is deffo the kinda guy who would go all "i would love you no matter what species you are" and actually mean it and peglar. ok so. i have a lot of thoughts about peglar.

so irl peglar was lashed for drunkeness and mutinous conduct while serving with the east indian company and for catboy peglar i like to imagine that travelling to places where cat/dogboys arent treated the way they are treated in england really opened his eyes and his mind to the idea of being treated like a person and this is obviously not a mindset that human officers want him to have and hence why he was lashed. he then served on the wanderer fighting against the slave trade and thats another chance to see a different type of human-to-cat/dogboy relationship even if he wouldnt have had as many opportunities to live amongst the locals as he did while with the east india company. and peglars like, smart. part of the reason why bridgens falls in love w him is bc of his intelligence and cheek and wit and peglar knows that britiannia's "civilizing mission" is bogus because while they are trying to abolish slavery on one hand they are also actively enforcing Company rule in India on the other and bc peglar has seen both sides of that he has Thoughts about it, Thoughts he didnt dare share with anyone until bridgens coaxed it out of him and to his surprise bridgens agreed with him.

bridgens, being well read and well educated, also knows that the way england treats cat/dogboys is the exception and not the rule and really like cherishes peglar and loves him like truly loves him and is thus completely aware of and careful of their uneven power dynamic here and wouldve never been the first to initiate anything for that very reason. and its not easy to navigate this forbidden relationship but peglar makes it worth it and both of them did worry that maybe this was merely a maritime romance but in the months between the war and the expedition they managed to sneak in lowkey dates on land and found that they were still very much compatible and it really makes things all the more tragic that bridgens cant afford to adopt peglar outright and ensure that henry lives out the rest of his days in peace curled up next to the fire with a good book and smiling whenever he catches john staring at him and god, they are so in love.

aww hello friend!! Thank you so much for asking!!

I think it would be nice for us to celebrate Heavensturn together! In my version of events, the overall timeline for how long the story takes isn’t fully established, but I sort of stick to each expansion and patch series taking around a year each overall (albeit with fluctuations and gaps within that - Stormblood takes a while because of travel time, I’ve added some gaps between certain patches to fit in non-story stuff like the Shadowbringers role quests being after 5.0, and so on). So, it’s neat to think of getting to celebrate each year under different story circumstances!

For example: the day Lorenza enters the Source and makes her deal with Tsutsuji to join the party is the day that then gets treated as her nameday. So since that’s in the penultimate month of the year (courtesy of it being the same day as my IRL birthday), the first Heavensturn she experiences with Clio and the others won’t be very far after that. However, the next one would then be sometime during the Heavensward story, by which time Lorenza has then spent much more time with the party by comparison. And the one after that might even be while everyone is actually in Kugane for the main story - which I think would be a fun way to experience the event, and would give the party a greater understanding of and appreciation for further years’ celebrations in Eorzea!

Additionally, though, the core concept of a festival to celebrate the new year is one that is quite neat to think about in Lorenza’s context. She is of the Thirteenth - a world destroyed by the Flood of Darkness, where night is eternal and time has lost almost all meaning. To go from that to the Source, where she can experience day and night consistently and things are so much more like how they used to be for her ten thousand years prior.. it’s certainly not something she takes for granted. And having these markers of how far she’s come in terms of how much time she’s spent with the others - trying to be treated as an ordinary person, in spite of now being a voidsent - is something I think would resonate with her quite strongly. So, she would definitely want to participate in the Heavensturn celebrations and customs that revolve around reflecting on the last year and preparing for the next.. because those concepts of a “last year” and a “next year” are something she just hasn’t experienced for so long.

(In fact, I can see Lorenza using Heavensturn as a time to try and remember the Thirteenth as it used to be, before the Flood of Darkness. Remembering how life was before, who she knew, the better moments amidst the bad. Not everything from that time was worth keeping - much of it wasn’t, given the troubles of the Contramemoria - but, her memory of her life before the Flood is what helps her keep her form how she wants it, so taking that time to reflect is something she finds benefit in. Once she has chance to open up to Clio and the others more, I like to think they would want to support her in observing this - a remembrance for a world destroyed.)

Hello!, I must say that I have seen your work and it is incredible, you always keep us hooked with the stories and comics that you tell with your drawings. A few days ago I had a curiosity and I hope I don't make you uncomfortable with my question, regarding Clio's previous relationship with Kai, did they break up? They ended on good terms or how was that situation? greetings!

Hello, thank you for the support :)

Yes, they were even married but the union didn't last longer than two years. While Kai and the others were aging and planning on making a family, Clio couldn't age neither get pregnant. She was not able to give Kai a child and that was the first thing that started to tear them apart. The idea of adoption was not accepted by the Hiwatari's honor lineage and that was placing Kai in a lot of pressure, not to mention that he wanted a kid around the same time as Takao and Rei.

Kai and Clio were still loving each other, caring for each other but there were times when Kai was being over protective with Clio, not letting her Travel when she wanted to visit her friends from other worlds and LOA, making her feel oppressed and sad...to a point the relation started to be toxic.

Clio couldn't take it anymore and confronted Kai. Surprisingly he understood her frustration, they both agree that their marriage was going nowhere. They planned to fake Clio's death because a divorce would make an scandal in the Hiwatari Family. During the "funeral" Kai was truthfully upsed, because even though only him and Clio knew about the act, it was also the end of their love.

It wasn't easy for Clio to deal with the rupture, it took her two years to get over it.

In honor of the new Percy Jackson show (which I'm absolutely loving, and I read the series years ago), and at the prompting of @fantasylover-92, here are the godly parents or species everyone on the crew from The Dragon That Will Pierce Heavens would have/be!

Luffy: Son of Hermes (boy loves traveling and adventure)

Hikari: Daughter of Athena (it takes a goddess of war strategy to keep up with Luffy)

Zoro: Son of Ares (the demonic motif made this irresistible)

Nami: Daughter of Aphrodite (to charm people out of their money, and Aphrodite WAS born out of the sea...)

Usopp: Son of Demeter (green thumb, what can I say?)

Senkovi's Guide to the Torchwoods: Ruinous Arc

I have long had this fascination with the Ruinous Arc at the southern edge of the Torchwoods. Mother used to haggle with the toll collector. He was a large man, whose short legs barely held his body. Gleaming pauldrons reflected the sun, which made his forehead produce a river of sweat that parted at his tweezer-curated unibrow. Back then I thought he was a peculiar man, but years of travel have proven that that’s just what toll collectors look like. While he convinced her to pay the legally required fee, the man shielded himself from my mother’s verbal assault with a worn Code of Law. I, however, marveled at the arc’s limestone statues. They depicted heroes whose names and stories were unknown to me, and the ones I made up were riddled with outdated misconceptions and historical contradictions. The copper lettering across the inner edge of the gate read: "Angel of Rain. Bless us with your gift. Shield us from its ruin." 

The architect's plea went unnoticed. I later came upon an article in the Royal Observer, with an aptly drawn illustration. It showed the equally unibrowed master of the toll collection guild amidst a flood. He was hauling a sack of sand toward the arc-adjacent river Rubicon. Unbeknownst to him, an elemental water spirit was closing in with a piece of driftwood and murderous intent. It is extraordinary how the illustrator captured the territorial anger of what is basically just a large drop of water.

When returning to the Torchwood region, I used the same route my mother had taught me was safest. She and I were unaware, that the guild had moved their operation westward. The elemental attack had weakened the arc’s structural integrity to a point, where the toll collector’s union (No. of members: 3) had to step in. Forced to hide behind the fallen statue of one of the limestone heroes, I now spied on a small group of creatures. I dubbed them Curators, after their seemingly innate drive to collect pieces of foreign civilization. Their small heads were each hidden by skulls of various origins, underneath which they communicated in a muffled foreign tongue. Giving each other a boost, they created a fragile living tower along the Ruinous Arc. The topmost of them was the smallest and therefore their leader. Fidgeting with a screwdriver, it one-by-one carefully pocketed the copper letters. It started with the A, which was the only sensible choice, considering that the text began with it. The tower then shuffled over to the B, where one of the lower Curators made a comment. I imagine it was something along the lines of “Pick up the pace.”, to which the top answered something like “Shut it!” The tower then moved a few steps back. Rubbing the chin of its skull helmet, the leader then decided they would move onto a lowercase D and then three separate Es. 

Attentive readers will have noticed a pattern by now, but will be disappointed to hear that the Curator’s next choice was an O.

Coming back to the small town where your high school bully leaves to try and escape a killer hunting you down is definitely not the destination vacation Haley had in mind... nor did she expect her high school bully to be a completely changed man hell bent on making amends and proving to her that he's been in love with her since he knew her. Haley escaped her small town of Citrus Cove the moment she turned 18. She couldn't wait to be free of Cameron Harlow, the boy who made her life hell all throughout high school. Now years later she is a successful travel writer, yet she is forced to return to Citrus Cove after all these years because she witnesses her neighbor being murdered and the murderer is now after her. Haley intends to lie low until the killer is caught... but now she is facing Cameron Harlow again. Cameron Harlow is a changed man, he went through therapy, he grew and now he is determined to prove to Haley he isn't the same guy and that he is beyond sorry for everything he put her through. Cameron now owns a bar with his brothers and loves his small town of Citrus Cove, all he's looking for is the one, the one perfect person for him and when the woman he wronged is back in town he wants nothing more than to make it up to her... if she'd even let him near her. Haley needs a job and when she is offered a job at a bar the last person she expects to be her new boss is Cameron. Cameron is determined to prove to Haley he is changed, and the fact that he is falling for her all over again means he'll do just about anything for her. Yet Haley's troubles are coming after her and when residents of the town start getting a body count and Haley begins receiving more threatening texts and photos, she and Cameron will have to find the killer before he kills any chance of the romance growing between Haley and Cameron. Oh I absolutely devoured this book, I'm a sucker for a small town thriller romance and this was everything. The amount of groveling Cameron did for Haley was just perfect, Im someone who does not enjoy bully romances but this one was just perfect. Cameron is so so in love with Haley and would do anything for her. I love that he grew and changed, that he made amends and went above and beyond to prove to Haley he is the perfect guy for her. I adored the Emma and Cameron's brothers as well. I honestly can't wait for the second book and to see where the next couple and story goes!! I couldn't put this book down and I would absolutely recommend it!!! It's hot, it's fun, and it's everything you could want in a read!
