oliver was born and raised in denver, colorado . as the son of a political analyst and lawyer, he's always known a life of privilege. at seven years old he stole a lunch tray from the cafeteria and used it to slide down a mountain in his backyard, as he sat in the emergency room with a cast on his arm he decided that he would dedicate his life to snowboarding.

with his parent's resources, the young thrill seeker spent his afternoons on a mountain training with the best coach money could buy. by age 12 he had several medals under his belt, and by 15 he was training to make his debut at the junior olympics. brands started knocking on his door and before he knew it sports illustrated dubbed him a rising star . much to everyone's surprise fame didn't seem to affect the teen , he was good in front of a camera but once the flashes died he retreated inside of himself.

as a kid who was often neglected due to his parent's work , oliver found comfort in the pages of various romance novels his nanny used to lend him . when he was sixteen a ray of light came into his life, a boy his age that attended the same gym. behind his conservative parents backs, he discovered that he was bisexual. what was supposed to be a secret romance came to light after someone leaked the story to a sports magazine. it's no coincidence that the day after a large sum of money was withdrawn from the farrow's bank account the boy he'd grown so fond of moved away and blocked his phone number.

by age 20 he scored a gold medal for the united states , making him one of the most famous athletes in the country. it seemed that oliver had all the cards stacked in his favor - never mind the fact that his relationship with his parents sucked or that people only approached him because they wanted a piece of him - no one could deny he was at the best anyone had seen in years.

four years after his big win, oliver was getting ready for his second shot at a medal when he got into an accident that would alter the course of his life. he remembers his heart pounding inside his helmet, the white that decorated the track as he soared, and the moment everything went black. three surgeries and a busted hip later the doctors told him he would never compete again

devastation came without precursor , what he loved the most suddenly ripped from his grasp. he moved to chicago for a fresh start and scored a job as a sports journalist. the glass has never been half full for the farrow boy and with anger as his new best friend he's trying to find a way to live in this new reality.

In the 1950′s Jason received offers for television series. He guest-starred on ABC's anthology series, The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse. In 1954, he played Joaquin Murietta, the notorious Mexican bandit of the California Gold Rush, in an episode of Jim Davis's syndicated western series Stories of the Century, the story of a railroad detective investigating crime in the American West. He appeared on the NBC interview program Here's Hollywood, in the Rawhide episodes "Incident of the Coyote Weed" and "Incident of the Valley in Shadow", and co-starred in 1969 in The Monk.

charles william saunders, thirty six, attorney

charlie was born and raised in waco back when it was just baylor and branch davidians so color him bemused by fixer upper. his parents, bill and rosie, are both retired teachers and are the kind of people still very much in love after almost fifty years together.

charlie loves the idea of love. he was raised in a house with a lot of love and sure, he believes in it. he just hates it in execution at present.

charlie's upbringing was chill and pretty idyllic. he rode bikes and ran track, bossed around his little sister jessie, and graduate from high school as valedictorian and with a full ride to baylor. he lived in the dorms but went home for dinner half the week for his first semester but he was absolutely not homesick at all.

he started out studying history with every intention of being a teacher like his parents and doesn't have any profound explanation for why he decided on law school instead - he was twenty two, the lsat was there, he got into ut, and he decided it was better to spend three years in law school than accept the teach for america gig.

law school and austin were exactly right for charlie and he would have been happy to spend the rest of his life there. he met some of his best friends, including clint marshall, who is a walking, talking texas stereotype and charlie's ride or die.

he also met rebecca but boy is he never in the mood to talk about that.

okay fine: he knew rebecca while she was in undergrad through a deeply incestuous friend network, they met again after she had graduated and when he was an associate at his first firm, it seemed like they wanted the same things and hit it off perfectly. cut to three years later and they were living in a flipped bungalow in barton hills with a cat and again: it seemed like everything was fine! he'd proposed! she said yes! they had reserved a venue! she had driven through silobration traffic in waco with him! he felt perfectly fine going on a two month trip to argentina to work on a contract!

he really can't tell you now if he regrets that decision or not but either way: he came back and got dumped for the ex rebecca always told him to not worry about.

he's fine!!!

bachelor living did not suit him at all - he tried. lord did he try. he gave it three months of being single and getting his shit organized and then let his sister and sister and law try sending him out on dates but, as lucy so gently put it, he was a little too bitter still.

so he decided to flee. not to waco, as suggested by his parents (and shot down by his sister) but to san francisco. he signed up with a recruiter who got him in with another firm specializing in contract law. he mostly works with tech bros who are all designing the next facebook and if it works out for them, cool! either way charlie gets paid so he doesn't care.

he likes san francisco. he didn't think he would - it was just the furthest he could go rather than his number one choice. apartment hunting is going to kill him and he's still not sure how the hell he wound up with cat custody but...it might all work out.

Despite appearing in movies Morrow remained mostly a television actor, appearing in Naked City, Wichita Town, The Rifleman, The Lineup, Johnny Ringo, The Brothers Brannagan, The Law and Mr. Jones, The Lawless Years, The Barbara Stanwyck Show, General Electric Theatre, Target: The Corruptors, The Tall Man, Outlaws, Bonanza, Death Valley Days, Alcoa Premiere, Suspense, The Immortal, Dan August, Hawaii Five-O, Mannix, Sarge, McCloud, Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law and The Untouchables.

He was cast in the early Bonanza episode "The Avenger" as a mysterious figure known only as "Lassiter" – named after his town of origin – who arrives in Virginia City, and helps save Ben and Adam Cartwright from an unjust hanging, while eventually gunning down one sought-after man, revealing himself as the hunter of a lynch mob who killed his father; having so far killed about half the mob, he rides off into the night, in an episode that resembles the later Clint Eastwood film High Plains Drifter. Rick Jason (born Richard Jacobson; May 21, 1923 – October 16, 2000) Film and television actor most remembered for starring in the ABC television drama Combat! (1962–1967).

In the 1950′s Jason received offers for television series. He guest-starred on ABC's anthology series, The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse. In 1954, he played Joaquin Murietta, the notorious Mexican bandit of the California Gold Rush, in an episode of Jim Davis's syndicated western series Stories of the Century, the story of a railroad detective investigating crime in the American West. He appeared on the NBC interview program Here's Hollywood, in the Rawhide episodes "Incident of the Coyote Weed" and "Incident of the Valley in Shadow", and co-starred in 1969 in The Monk.

In 1960, he starred as insurance investigator Robin Scott in The Case of the Dangerous Robin, a syndicated American television series that lasted only one season. It was not renewed due to Jason's health issues, including back problems. In 1962, he began starring in the television series Combat! as Platoon Leader 2nd Lt. Gil Hanley, probably his most memorable role. In this series he shared the starring role in an alternating episode rotation, with Vic Morrow as Sgt. Ok, so there’s an episode of Justice League where there was a group that was pretty clearly the Defenders (the original ones not the Netflix ones). Doctor Fate was Doctor Strange, Aquaman was Namor, Hawkgirl was Nighthawk, Grundy was Hulk and AMAZO was Silver Surfer, and it got me thinking, what Marvel superheroes would be in a group inspired by a DC one? A MOMENT OF VIOLENCE

Aliens are falling from the sky over Manhattan.

And he is running like lives depend on it.

Because, they do.

Steve Rogers sprints west on 42nd, vaulting over debris and abandoned vehicles towards the absolute mess of emergency vehicles clogging the street. He's dodging alien… gunfire, he supposes (if it can be called that) and all he can think about is how he's gotta get these people out of here. A concrete piece of something crashes in his path and he instinctually leaps, feet tucking up under him as he braces to land on a white sedan. The drag from the shield (thankfully) stops him from skidding right over the top and landing on top of two of NYPD's finest.

They stare up at him, perched atop an abandoned car like a damn bird in all his blue-and-red glory. They're wide-eyed and, if he didn't know any better, he might've believed that landing looked graceful with how he's got 'em speechless.

His tone is firm and (he hopes) confident as he offers the best strategic play he can:

"You need men in these buildings. There are people inside and they're gonna be running right into the line of fire. You take them through the basements or through the subway. You keep them off the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as 39th."

That should be okay, it's only a few blocks, but—

The perfect model of New York skepticism shouts back "Why the hell should I take orders from you?!"

And before Steve can finish his next thought (cut Captain America a goddamn break, will ya, pal?) the ripping of Chitauri gunfire right behind him has him nearly jumping out of his own skin.

The roof of the sedan flexes beneath his feet as Steve pivots, squaring up abruptly as a taxi explodes. He feels the rush of heat against his skin and raises his shield against both it and the billowing smoke, which burns in his nose anyway. Through smoke and fire, he catches a glimpse of several Chitauri hovercraft careening around the corner of Madison Ave.

Two of the ugly bastards drop from the sky with a shower of blue fire. Steve twists and a strong backhand with the shield knocks one of the two to the ground. He spins and barely manages to block a double tap from the other's gun-spear-weapon-thing.

The next few moments are a methodical, punishing takedown. He's not pulling his punches, so he feels the stretch in his muscles as they flex and contract with the follow-through. Bone and cartilage and exoskeleton crunch under his fists. The swift downswing of the shield severs a limb like it's a guillotine. It's not satisfying, but there is a rush that's some combination of adrenaline and desperation and unflinching determination. He's buzzing with it. It's brutal in a way that Steve hasn't been— hasn't felt in seven months, not since…

Buck.

Oh, Bucky.

A sick sensation suddenly erupts and climbs the ladder of his ribs. It fills the space in his chest where his heart used to be and it squeezes against his lungs.

For a moment, it's like he's 13 again and he can't fucking breathe.

He doesn't really catch the squelch of the amputated arm as it slides out of the alien rifle. The cop walking away, relaying his orders (finally) is just a buzz in his periphery. His chest is heaving and he can hear the rushing of his too-fast pulse in his ears. Then there's a scream to his left and it's a god-awful, high-pitched thing that somehow seems to restart time.

When did it even stop?

But, now it's moving a little quick and even with his enhanced senses, it's overwhelming and it feels like he's not going to be able to catch up.

It's too much. Much too much—

That is, until a calm, gentle voice from right in front of him cuts through everything. Clear as day.

"Hey. Y'alright?"

Steve blinks once, twice.

The other cop comes into focus.

He's from Brooklyn.

He's gotta be from Brooklyn and Steve knows because it sounds like home. Like—

He takes a single, steadying breath and shoves the awful feelings— bitter and sticky and black like molasses —back down into the depths from whence they came before they threaten to drown him right here in the middle of the street while aliens are still falling from the goddamn sky.

He berates himself.

Not the right time for this. Get it together, Rogers.

"Yeah," Steve replies, shaking his head to clear it. "Yeah, m'good. I can do this all day."

He doesn't really mean to say that, but the words come out of him as if it's a reflex.

The man (Saunders, according to his nameplate) is looking up at him from beneath the brim of a service cap. He meets Steve's eyes and gives him lopsided little half-smile. His eyes are brown, Steve notices, but the way he smiles is like a balm for his soul. That smile makes him look young, boyish almost. The weariness from the alien invasion going on around them fades from his features. Steve thinks he should cock that cap to the side, just a bit.

It's familiar. It's comforting.

Saunders nods.

Steve nods back. "Thanks."

"Thank you, Cap." And with a bit of a mock salute that feels just enough like home— like don't win the war 'til I get there —he's off down the street. Steve sees him grab the arm of a woman paralyzed by fear behind an overturned vehicle before they both take off towards Bryant Park.

There's a half-beat where Steve thinks maybe there is still a God, and maybe he didn't leave his faith at the bottom of a ravine somewhere in the frozen Alps, and maybe… just maybe that man was a sign sent by his best friend. Because it kinda feels like his best pal just let him know that he's here, still watching his back as Steve throws himself headfirst yet again towards a bully.

(Alien bullies this time. Apparently.

What the hell.)

Honestly, it's just what he needs. And Bucky Barnes has always known exactly what Steve Rogers needs.

But then gunfire erupts by his foot, once again with that wicked tearing sound that heralds more death the longer he stand still, so he moves. He's moving on instinct, leaping off the roof of the car back towards Clint and Natasha.

Alright, Buck. Let's end this.
