torchwood resources
just some stuff i've accumulated during this fixation :) hope it proves handy :D
ianto's-desktop (livejournal) - archived most of the things found on the torchwood website during season 1 and season 2; the only thing missing is the videos. / note: click the headers of the posts to see the full thing, or some stuff with appear incomplete. took me a sec to figure out, lol
speaking of the website...
season 1 website (archive.org)
season 2 website (archive.org) - unlike the s1 website, the bulk of the s2 site's content is pretty inaccessible through the wayback machine (at least for me; maybe i'm doing something wrong), so thank g-d for ianto's desktop
there's also a good amount of rebloggable site content in this person's tumblr tag.
season 1 declassified (youtube)
season 2 declassified (youtube)
season 1 commentaries (mega.nz)
torchwood books (google drive) - gonna be honest, i haven't tried to download any of these myself
border princes audiobook (read by eve) + all of the radio plays (archive.org)
torchwood magazines (beta.reddit) - download links for all of them! p fuckin kewl
torchwood official yearbook (archive.org)
herecomesthedrums (youtube) - account that started posting before the show came out and is chock full of promos, trailers, interviews... some real fun goodies in there
torchwood: up close (youtube) - handful of bts videos with the cast + crew
season 1 unreleased tracks (soundcloud) - the end of days ones hrhghgh
out of time unreleased tracks (soundcloud) - i absolutely adore the music in this ep so i was so happy when i found these
the torchwood fanpop - this has sooooooo much content like i scrolled for a loooooong time and never reached the bottom. lotta stuff i hadn't seen before, too. there's fun hd promo pics, pics of the cast, and a lot of extremely early 2010s edits, graphics, and fanvids. / note: i also had this page bookmarked + it's got different content than the main page so i'll link it
aaand under the cut i'm gonna dump some silly stuff i've collected of the cast. but yeah, there ya go :-)
gally 2015: zip files of someone's pictures of eve, naoko, and burn (livejournal)
gally 2015: someone's account of the torchwood panels + meeting the cast (everyone was there but gareth!) - naoko & burn's solo panels / autograph table chats + barrowman photo-op + the naoko&burn&eve group panel / barrowman solo panel + burn&eve joint panel
dragon con 2013 (flickr) - i found two albums: this one, and this one, which has torchwood cast images on the first and second pages.
burn at chicago tardis 2012 (flickr) - ehehe 2012-2013 burn gorman w his classy little outfits my beloved. this is just hq pictures of that event. burn's in a bunch at the top and some at the end of the second page
the hub 2009 (flickr) - some kind of torchwood event. gareth, burn, eve, kai, and tom are all there. i dunno
hvff 2018: 'insights from the whole cast'
hvff 2018: video of everybody goofing off (twitter)
gareth endorsing owandy teehee (twitter) - this is getting dumped here bc im gay
sigh. (blogspot) - pics from that one fuckin 08 panel where gareth & john made out like 5 times + gareth took his jeans off for some reason. i don't even go here but i feel like this is unfortunately historically relevant. also the fujoshis in the comments are really funny
incomplete but sizable lists of cons gareth's been to and john's been to, in case anyone wants to dig around for photos/footage of any of these. the other cast members (excluding burn, for some reason) all have pages on this site as well, but theirs are super incomplete so i won't bother linking
#torchwood#mine#txt#torchwood posting#might update w more#ohhhh internet archive my beloved#... ngl i am hoarding some other stuff. but woohoo this means i can delete one of my laptop folders hehehee

I may or may not of fallen in love with @skyrimromanceâs mod. Its only my second playthrough but Iâve fallen in love hardcore with skyrim... and trying to mod it. (my first, a mage, never made it past lvl 30 and getting to the mountain >.> so basically I am n00b. mage was fun but wasnât difficult).
Followers have always been a problem (I like to sneak and asses before fighting or casting) and most followers in game are like wear LOUD PLATEMAIL AND GET IN THE WAY OF EVERYTHING!! WHAT IS SNEAK?? And God forbid you cast a spell, even a healing spell, or play anything but a Nord. All the slander and ungratefulness! But thank the gods, Bishopâs sassy, will let you sneak and, uh, âborrowâ things without giving you shit for it. (Kinda say he doesnât lewdly comment about putting your hands on him for healing, but at least he doesnât insult me either for it...)
I got surprised by how detailed he is. The first time we got into combat and he yells âback off sheâs mineâ I was so confused (read: shocked and blushing) I nearly fell off the bridge we were fighting on  XD  I did fall over a waterfall trying to hunt a bear though, and he did laugh at me for that. (only found out later it was a combat line. I literally thought he was laughing at me fucking up.)
So yeah overall thankful for all the mods I found and for this follower to add a lil more rpg flavor into Skyrim and letting me actually try follower things for once!
But I swear to god, if he locks me in a narrow cell one more time... (damn body blocks XâDDD naughty Bishop  >v< )

Adventures through Twisted Wonderland Book 5- A Beautiful Tyrant
Part 1/?
Next
Spoilers!
Click pics for better quality
We begin a new book today! Iâve seen some people criticize book 5, but I personally loved going through the translations for this one, so Iâm particularly excited to actually play it.
Damn first chapter and weâre already gonna be fighting something? Ok then lmao.
Aw look at how far these two have come. If this happened like back in book 1 or prologue Grim would probably be throwing out insults left and right.
You know, when going through the dream sequence at the beginning of the chapter I noticed for the first time that the âFairestâ Queenâs color of purple was the only color present, and I was wondering if the other dream sequences had been the same way. Turns out- they were!
Other than that these are just pretty shots.
LMAOO ok so I was gonna say something about Royal Sword or something here but I just find these lines too funny to make any real commentary.
This gives me Yu trying to tell Yosuke and Chie that his head got sucked into a TV vibes and I am NOT appreciating it, Ace.
And I guess thatâs it for this part

hii, so i recently joined tumbler from pinterest and i don't really know how is this website supposed to be used... could u help me with that?
sure! it depends on what you like. i'd suggest following tumblr's official @tips blog, they have a lot there! but here's some basic things i've learned along the way:
determine what kind of blogger you want to be. personally i'm just here to see shit i like, i have 1 big blog that is a mix of all my shit and i don't give a fuck if its mixed around. some people aren't like me, and they like to organize by topic. they have a main blog and side blogs for different topics. it's up to you! there's no right way to do it.
either thing you decide to do, tag your posts to help with categorization. i don't do this bc i am lazy and i don't care. but if you're making sideblogs, or just want to find people and get followers, just tag the things you post and reblog with the topic (if it's a moon knight post, tag it with moon knight, etc)
as i've said in my big post - this place is for reblogging things! reblog is and should be the default action you take. you can never post an original post on here and be totally fine. just be a lurker. but your blog should at least have a profile pic, a banner photo, and something in your bio about yourself (online pseudonym/blog name, maybe pronouns if you feel comfortable?). maybe pick some colors for your blog layout. you can get custom layouts if you want, but the default one is fine too.
when you reblog things, make commentary in the tags! tag it with the relevant topics, but in the following tags you can share your little thoughts about it. also for original posts, it helps to have an original post tag so people (or you) know where to find your original posts. for example, i tag all my original posts with kaludiasays. if you go to your blog settings, you can turn on featured tags so those show up when people look things up on your blog.
5. speaking of the blog settings, turn off sharing your likes and who you are following. that's YOUR business. and people use likes for different things - maybe they like personal posts people make bc its not rebloggable content. maybe they like posts that they've already reblogged to mark it for later. maybe they use their likes to save things. you can use your likes for whatever you want. just know that likes don't really help a post that much, so default to reblogging.
6. create a queue schedule for yourself! so yes there's a post limit on here (most people don't reach it, but i used to regularly), but it's basically to keep your blog active while also not having to be on here all the time. while you can manually schedule a post for later, you can set up a queue so that you can add things to the queue and they'll publish at a regular cadence. some people even have an automatic queue tag. it can be whatever you want. instead of reblogging posts, then you can just add them to your queue.
7. There's DMs (messages) and also "Asks" here. you can change your settings to determine who can DM you, and who can send Asks. Anonymous people can send asks, too. You can turn these on and off as you're comfortable. Never click on a link in a DM or ask from someone you don't know (or someone you DO know but that looks sketchy). You can also get blog submissions - I have this off, but people use it for various things.
8. In that same vein - be liberal with the block button. Get a weird DM? An ask, even an anonymous one you don't like? Don't answer. Just block (and report if needed, and yes you can block an anonymous sender, too). Nobody will care. Curate your space. It's always better to just block or delete something then get into a fight (I've learned this the hard way). And if you're in certain fandoms, yes people will send you weird shit to bait you. It is definitely bait. Don't take it.
9. Follow shit. Follow a LOT of shit. Follow any blog you see posting something cool or funny (especially artists or gif makers). Follow the tags for ships and shows and other stuff you like. Follow LOTS of them. This is advice I often give for ANY social media site - the more people you follow, the less bullshit you see on your feed (unless you're following all people who post about one thing, please don't do that). It's a moving river, you're not stuck in an echo chamber, and you can just jump in, have your fun, and jump out. Curate your space, and you'll care less. But in that same vein, like I said about the block button, be liberal with the UNFOLLOW. They post something weird? Or just something you do not give a fuck about and too much of it? Unfollow. Nobody cares. Unless it's like a close personal friend you know IRL or something.
10. Go to your account settings and set up your filtered tags, or blacklist. This can be personal triggers, shit you just don't wanna see, anything NSFW that you're fine with but might want to not autoplay on your screen in case you're not in the most appropriate environment, ships you hate, whatever. It'll basically put a warning cover over the post if it comes across your feed, and you can choose whether you want to view it or not. This is why tagging posts correctly and not censoring words especially for triggers is helpful.
11. Mess with your dashboard however you want! Most people here have "Best Stuff First" turned off, nobody wants that algorithm shit. But on mobile they have the two columns, "Following" and "For You" anyway. Definitely make sure at least "include followed tag posts" is on.
Ok there's a lot more things I'm forgetting but, I think this should get you started! The official tips blog has more detailed explanations you should check out. remember to just reblog things, don't feel pressured by anything, and poke around tags to find stuff!

hey! this is a snippet of a post from my dreamwidth. click here to read there, or at the bottom of the post! thanks!
so, i'm trying out the high school pack and... woof, what a beast. i still can't decide if i like this pack or not. it added so much shit that we were missing and yet falls so flat in other places that i'm just.. left feeling so confused. anyway, here are some moments from the last few days of playing, presented with much annoying commentary.
i primarily wanted a teen girl sim to play as because that's usually my default way to play (it has been since i was a kid, heh.) but to be honest, once i started making her family i ended up liking them a lot.. ended up taking a bunch of pics of them too.
the hernĂĄndezes; ariel, roy, michelle, and jay
despite being mortal enemies with this game's autonomy system, i did manage to capture a lot of adorable moments. i like to at least give the game a chance before it disappoints me (which it inevitably does but., you know). i get a lot of enjoyment out of just watching them do their thing. it also helps me not rip my hair out over having to micromanage every little thing these motherfuckers try to do.
i have no idea what kind of food that's supposed to be
before playing, i never actually looked at what the pack added to the game. i usually tune out big update news to avoid dumb takes and everyone's collective disappointment because it depresses me, lol. anyway, i dressed ariel up in the most gen-z of gen-z attire and set her off.
me too, girl
for reasons the game didn't bother to explain to me, when i pull up everyone is wearing a uniform shirt that explains what club they're in, i guess? i thought it was kind of cute, but for some reason on the next days of school they would wear regular clothes and on exam day they wore uniforms again... not sure if that was intentional or not but i like it. it would be way more convenient if they did it for your active sim too but, whatevs.
this is such a guess the anime protagonist ass moment
so i just let her walk around, seeing how well the game's autonomy works with all the new shit in the school. she actually managed to use the bathroom and wash her hands before getting to class on time, something that never happened in discover university lmfao. so i let the class run and it ends up being pretty fucking boring? i was hoping for more shit to do but i just kinda sat there and watched her write in her notebook. also all the kids pull out their books at the same time and its really funny. keep an eye on homegirl on the left in that last pic; after class she hits ariel up by her locker. i thought this was cute, i love when npc sims initiate conversation on their own. they hit it off super well, so this is definitely gonna be her BFF.
i'm very bad at screenshots if you couldn't already tell, but i'm hoping the more i post here the better i'll get at it. hopefully. anyway they just keep talking - mostly because of the "try to make friends" mod. they took a quick break from talking to let ariel decorate her locker
which came out super fucking cute, by the way. this is the "preppy" option and i love the lil black lady in the bottom left. anyway they keep talking and i decide yep, theyre gonna be besties and i have ariel join cheerleading. then the rest of the school day happens and aliyah ends up inviting her to the park afterschool. fuck yeah! i haven't mentioned it thus far, but i gave ariel the admired icon aspiration from the new teen category. basically i'm trying to make her the most popular girl in school. getting invited out by a cheerleader on your first day is some serious sitcom shit and i'm kinda living for it. and surprise! she brings another friend along.
so are you guys like...?
and it's a guy named reid. now, i move like an overzealous grandma when i'm looking for a partner for my sims. i'm always scanning everywhere like a motherfucking hawk. and when i see a sim that i want for my girl: that's the sim she's gonna get. and when i saw that guy i was like.. yeah that's the one. and oh so serendipitously, they manage to actually hit it off. part of me got scared that that would be aliyah's boyfriend, sort of like what happens in discover university (i keep having to compare these packs, lmao). but nah, he was just a friend, also on the cheerleading team. yeah... they're kinda meant to be.
no? ooh okay cool !
they just kinda chill and talk, and the friendship bar is just filling and filling. so things are going well! eventually it's around 9 and they have to start saying goodbye. i click the button to send ariel home and as she's walking she's pulled into conversation by these two chavs.
do y'all think they've explored each other's bodies
so they stop her and just go on to have a normal chat. honestly it's really silly that sims can't straight up hit on each other. like initial interactions are almost always pleasant, never flirty. i wonder if there's a mod that can make that happen. especially because i'm doing a popular "run", i would love to be able to turn people down. kinda like when you can turn down sex with wicked whims with the funny flavor text. anyway, they talk sans flirting which makes me sad. but whatever, they added ariel on social bunny so at least she's getting more popular. also, peep ariel's cold weather fit. i think its super cute, i adore that new base game hair so now that's her canon hair texture.
i don't fully know what a chav is, but i swear these two have gotta be
--
aaand that's it for tumblr. for the rest, which is more than double the length of this post, please check out my dreamwidth

Tony Awards Thoughts
So it looks like, at least for now, the CBS website lets you watch it for free (at least in the US). Here are my thoughts using those time stamps (be warned I have a long running commentary)
0:23 Oh is this going to be a parody of her playing the piano on last yearâs Tonyâs
1:05 How has neither one of them won anything? I mean I get if they said neither one of them one a Tony cause I mean, they both did shows that one timeâŚbut anything?
1:18 Is there anything more Broadway than saying the same rehearsed thing at the same time and pretending it was just part of the banter? Oh theater tropes I love you
1:36 Thatâs always been something that bothered me, people assume that just because something didnât win the Tony doesnât mean its not a great show, and the show that wins might not even be the best one that season (you know who you are). I love the Tonyâs but its an award show, people donât stop watching tv shows and movies or listening to artists that didnât win or werenât nominated, it makes me sad that so many shows close post Tonyâs just because they werenât the big winner. AnywaysâŚ
1:53 THEY CELEBRATED THE LOSERS LIKE ME, these A list celebrities that are totally not losers are soooo relatable ;)
2:40 A few years ago Something Rotten did what I thought was a brilliant advertising campaign listing amazing shows that lost the Tonys like them, so the fact that it was put into song gave me a fond flashback. See? SEE??? Oh it feels so good to be vindicated on tv
3:49 âIf you make art at all your a part of the cureâ :)
4:10 THEY HAD THE ENSEMBLE MEMBERS BE THE ONES IN THE OPENING NUMBER RATHER THAN THE LEADS THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. If only my high school self could have seen this she would have felt so much better
6:42 I didnât see any of the plays this year but I heard the most about Angels in America this season so not surprised. Looks interesting
7:45 Happy Pride Month
8:40 Bake a cake for everyone who wants a cake to be baked would actually be a pretty good diction warmup
14:10 Kinda surprised that they didnât pick Rather Be Me or Apex Predator considering those are the really marketed songs. âWhere We Belongâ seems a lot like âStatus Quoâ from High School Musical. I mean youâll get that about high school clicks in the lunch room with a blond queen bee but like, even the dance moves felt similar, and the lunch tray dancing, even the giant cat decal. But like, it's not as catchy? I didnât expect them to win anything tonight but I really donât think theyâll win anything now? Is that mean? Just cause it feels like it was supposed to be a high energy number and it didnât have that energy I thought it would. Also come on, just cause you want the girls to be shallow and dumb doesnât mean the lyrics have to be that cringey. This feels like a less good version of if Legally Blonde and High School Musical had a baby (I absolutely love Legally Blonde that was not intended to be an insult to either show).
15:00 Is it me or did Amy Schumer look like she wanted to say something but Rachel Bloom kept talking. But it didnât really have any joke setup or serve as a good segway for commentary, what could she have wanted to say?
15:35 Later on Iâm going to see if I can find the award speeches that didnât get televised. most of the world doesnât get broadway they get regional theater, I wanted to hear what they had to say
15:45 Nick Scandalious feels like a cartoon name youâd see in an Onion article about the Me Too movement. His face even looks like the generic celebrity that had a TMZ scandal five years ago. I thought I read it wrong at first lol
16:40 I was cracking up they know their brand so well. The air quotes on emotional, perfect!
17:10 Mini Sara and Josh are so cute!
17:50 Ok I missed the reference, what is the giant bird lady from?
18:10 oh
20:57 celebrity child picture counter: #3 Amy Schumer. Also guess which year the musical described as âa comedy about class and sexismâ is from? Yup itâs My Fair Lady, the audience laughed like I did in that sort of this is funny but also sad kinda way
26:00 This was so overacted and hammy and one day I aspire to that level of loud printed robes. Coincidentally my name is also spelled like Eliza but my voice is not nearly that good. Also does it count as drag if they are clearly men in dresses with some comical makeup or is there another name for it when they arenât actually trying to look feminine?
26:18 The twitter usernames were too small to see on my screen who were the twitter pictures of?
26:30 See above comment
27:00 What show did Billy Joel work on? Also Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Josh Groban maybe my mom will finally enjoy theater
29:12 Oh my gosh that picture of Titus Burgess is amazing as is that suit. And that intro is so Titus its great
30:07 Renee Fleming weâve got the Opera world here too? Itâs so many famous musicians from outside broadway on broadway, think of all the crossovers
32:50: Yes spongebob get Josh Groban to sing more thank you for your service. Ok Iâm not a huge fan of spongebob but they have to win for sound design that guy is on overload
33:27 Lol it explains so much why the songs sound disjointed cause they got a billion people to write them. Also lol I was waiting for that joke
33:50 Also what I thought would happen would be a medley that way Spongebob who really is the driving energy of the show and Squidward played by the Broadway darling would both have a song. This wasnât how I expected them to do it, but I was sort of right so Iâll count it. Iâm not really a fan of Spongebob the musical (Iâve listened to it twice once when it first came out and once during Tony Season. Iâm not one of the people who hate it off the sheer premise and wonât give it a chance, but I just thought it was meh and not worth having the most nominations.) But Squidwardâs song is very me, not in terms of melody cause that is I find most of the melodies to be rather generic but the lyrics are 100% me trying to convince myself. Also all I will be thinking about for the rest of the will be what tap dancing must feel like its gotta feel weird how long do you think he spent practicing it with and without the extra legs. Or it might be nightmare fuel with the sea anemone contributing to it, who knows? Probably both,
38:07 still donât know whose handles those are
38:28 ^^^
38:40 Ok when I saw the outfits I was expecting a Chorus Line Parody, but this Sia parody fits this every genre but musical theater theme of this Broadway season
39:20 Eight times a week, and all the subsequent puns
40:28 Can I just say I love this return to singing interludes over awkward award show banter?
41:44 I saw the Bands Visit a few monthâs back and I still donât know how to describe it. Normally I would guess it would be the second fiddle of the Tonyâs but considering the âpuristsâ itâll probably win most of the awards
44:16 With all the previous reaction shots you knew it had to be Nathan Lane. I always forget how well spoken he is because of his typical roles but he is really well spoken and sincere rather than trying to wise crack and it was so sweet. It made me smile
47:43 His face saying âblow highâ has got to be a gif right?
51:45 The entirety of the Carousel number was me thinking if I had a higher sex drive this would totally make me thirsty. They also used very creative ways to physically embody the shape and workings of a ship but then again Iâm admittedly biased. Listen to that number you know their vocal prowess was not why they picked it
52:12 I mean, I know that crew gets less attention than cast and plays less attention than musicals but I would watch the full version stop cutting out the speeches. Câmon I love costumes
53:04 I know your joking but that hurts
53:19 yes #4 famous kid photo Uzo Aduba
55:49 Ari'el Stachelâs speech is made all the more poignant when you realize everyone else in his category were white. Despite this seasonâs commerciality you actually do have shows and casts with Asian leads and African American leads and Latin American leads and Middle Eastern leads somewhere between the sea of shows like Spongebob and Frozen. Show these shows some love, prove that Hamilton wasnât the anomaly but the rule
56:55 They brought the Parkland teacher for the theater education award! Fitting 65 students into a high school teacherâs office for hours to protect them is not easy, she saved lives that day
58:17 I thought #5 Matthew Morrison was a girl in his child pic
58:40 They went to Parkland?!
59:35 OMG theyâre performing!?!
1:00:10 Seasons of Love is the Perfect song for this, they sound so good too!
1:01:18 Girl has an amazing voice! Dang to get up there in front of all of these famous performers on live TV after the media has already hounded them and putting yourself out there is courageous
1:02:45 I canât see the handles
1:03:11 Will they be able to top NPHâs Tony magic trick though??? Probably not but letâs see
1:03:31 So cheesy but tbh if I had a Harry Potter wand Iâd be even cheesier
1:03:46 Was that line improved or was the tech delay intentional?
1:04:22 Câmon Squidward already pulled the same âtrickâ you have ensemble block the audience pov while someone enters from the back. Didnât even come close to topping NPH
1:04:43 Little Patti Lupone I canât believe she allowed them to include her picture of lilâ Patti
1:05:04 I just wanted to include Pattiâs line about a âdeep appreciation for outspoken womenâ cause I actually said âyou go girlâ out loud
1:05:35 Yeah, fun fact, Tony wasnât a man but was actually short for Antoinette. They referenced it multiple times before, including earlier tonight, but it was stated most explicitly here
1:06:35 Is that a young or modern Claire Danes, I canât tell
1:07:39 Also itâs really cool that an older woman won something, I feel like the stage gives more roles for older woman that other acting industries, also if people argue that she was political she served political office. Also how cool is it that apparently people were there from every recognized country?
1:09:27 so thatâs how they do Sven, I knew Olaf was supposed to be an Avenue Q style puppet but the way they move Sven is really cool (itâs the technique they used on things like War Horse, I donât know if itâs considered costuming or puppetry or what the official name is)
1:10:20 Anna looks exactly as I pictured her, and they changed a few minor lyrics for it to fit the stage
1:10:44 There are so many quick changes tonight
1:11:22 Elsa did not look like what I imagined her to be, but the costumes are on point
1:12:00 The chorus versions of these songs have beautiful harmony, but Olaf shouldnât be there yet right? Isnât he âbornâ in Let it Go
1:12:47 Alright Iâve been waiting to see how theyâll do the snow effects!
1:14:00 They got out of building the castle by already having it built at the beginning of the song, which is smart technically but I wanted to see how they do it, unless itâs one of those things thatâs a surprise for when you see it live.
1:14:25 Never call it âDaddyâs Dayâ ever again. Never.
1:14:46 I canât see the handles
1:14:59 How could you not show Chita Riveraâs lifetime achievement? Iâve been lucky enough to see her in more than one show and she is incredible.
1:15:13 And you also cut out Andrew Lloyd Webberâs?? You made the wrong cuts Broadway
1:15:25 It looks like theyâre going to show a tribute Iâm excited!!!
1:17:42 Two things: Andrew Lloyd Webber has written a weird collection of musicals, like when you see clips of them back to back you realize just how weird of a collection it is, and Josh Groban needs to be the next Phantom
1:18:08 That exchange was so physically awkward they havenât even started talking yet and I feel the cringe
1:19:18 Is âI swore Iâd never do something like thatâ shade against the La La Land debacle? In 2018? Or am I reading too much into it
1:19:21 I saw the Bandâs Visit but I also saw Once on this Island and I thought that one would win Direction for sure but I guess I was wrong
1:22:36 I read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, itâs a weird read, but I havenât seen it live so maybe itâs directed brilliantly, who knows? Who else thinks its a weird read?
1:23:56 Heâs getting the Tony audience to sing his boyfriend "Happy Birthday" instead of giving a speech and that is both adorably sweet and such a power move. Also a rare occasion of Happy Birthday being sung on key
1:25:10 Theyâre having DEH perform? You cut out people who actually were awarded tonight for people who already were featured on the Tonyâs last year? And that song is a weird choice for a In Memoriam considering that show doesnât reallyâŚrespect the deceased. Weird
1:28:17 Give the tech more time in the limelight! You cut out Chita and Webberâs speeches for a weird tribute and you have weird stunts with tech like the magic thing yet cut out all their stage time. I know this is standard Tony procedure but it is something I will comment on every year until it changes
1:29:20 That move for âwork hard for the money momâ line was uncomfortable
1:30:30 They really do sound like the original singer
1:31:53 So thatâs how the performers follow the conductor. They have a huge teleprompter-like screen in the back of the audience
1:32:52 This cast seems specifically tailored to gather different subsections of internet geeks and I will not tell you which categories I fall into
1:33:18 I never knew âthe Jimmyâsâ were a thing when I was in high school
1:34:54 THOSE are the great themes of Harry Potter? Really?
1:36:10 Aww look at little Cinderella
1:36:34 How are they going to build that stage for the Tonys? They built a river inside the theater for it before!
1:37:00 Well it makes sense that theyâd only include part of the set, you canât really recreate an entire building. Yes Iâm so glad they included Mama Will Provide. That song is like the definition of a Tony performance song. Why did they include the Daniel bit, that was so awkward and broke up the flow
1:40:40 If anyone would be chill with the goat itâs Nathan Lane. Yup, there a live goat at the Tony Awards
1:41:21 Donât joke about that
1:41:41 Are you going to cut out every technical award
1:42:32 Too relatable
1:43:16 Is this that song from Chorus Line in real life
1:44:10 English Major life
1:46:03 The angel from Angels in America is so Extra TM
1:46:54 That Tony Kushner line was forced
1:47:18 Awkward segway but REMEMBER TO VOTE
1:47:38 That Judy Garland line ties in perfectly with the Happy Birthday to the gay couple
1:48:04 That reaction to the word âmoneyâ is me. And also is a gif right?
Am I so much of a Tony nerd that I both knew and was shocked that the accountants werenât the normal ones from Ernst and Young but instead were from Grant Thorton. Why do I remember what company normally tallies the Tony votes? Why did they change companies? Why do I care so much? But seriously what happened
1:49:00 That phrase just sounded so odd, just the way it was said âmy television Daddy-O Tony Shalhoubâ
1:53:15 I donât have the accent and Iâm about as white as white can be, but I really want to perform this song somewhere at some point. I have family in this area even though I donât look like I would but and I just connect to it. The melody is gorgeous and the chorus reminds me of the lullabies of when I was very little.
1:54:15 Every time the young photos come up it puts a small smile on my face
1:54:37 Good on them for putting their money where their mouth is. They actually helped fund arts programs in places where they were cut
1:55:05 I wonder what the rest of the scenic guyâs speech for Spongebob was because this tiny clip seemed so passionate (and just has such an interesting aesthetic). Gosh darn it Tonys stop pretending the only backstage people that count are the directors and producers, you have all these other people who put in so much hard work yet you consistently ignore them. Even orchestrations, choreography and score?? Orchestrations, choreography and score are crucial for musicals to exist as unique entities from plays. You make jokes about people sitting through 5 hour plays but I would gladly sit through a five hour award show if you just included the technical awards.
1:57:10 me trying to open anything ever
1:57:14 Yes! I was so worried they would go with the super old school ones that get constant revivals. I mean, they picked the show that had â1000 pounds of sand, a 100 gallons of water, a goat and 2 chickens into his theaterâ when you have safer, more conventional bets. Everyone kept sleeping on Once on this Island this Tony season to talk about their feelings about the Spongebobâs and Mean Girlâs of the world but this is such a good show. Maybe thisâll get this show the love it deserves.
1:59:30 what did Robert DeNiro say on the recording the sound cut out. Did the mic cut out did he say something inappropriate, Iâve been avoiding Tony news what happened?
1:59:55 Itâs got more than just a big cast, dancing, and a history lesson. You know that applies to, idk like 60% of famous Broadway musicals lol
2:00:06 when someone gives that pregnant of a pause you gotta wonder what the story is there
2:00:27 Truth
2:00:40 âJersey Boyâ thatâs such a good one liner, actually, it might sound sarcastic online but that was a funny one liner in context
2:03:00 Is Bruce Springsteen really going to just do spoken word poetry the whole time? Also I donât know why but this makes me think of Fun Home
2:06:05 Oh heâs going to sing after all. Though that story is about as Americana Fourth of July as anything Iâve ever heard on the Tony Awards ever and thatâs saying something
2:07:39: who are these people?
2:08:00 Didnât Kristin Chenowitz and Alan Cumming do this exact same shtick when they hosted, what 2 years ago? And thereâs was much bigger I mean really go big like that Glinda the Good dress or go home.
2:08:23 Was there really no punch line? Also aww baby Kelli OâHara is precious
2:09:07 The actorâs name sounds like his characterâs name and I enjoy that
2:09:39 Well these actors are very different from each other
2:11:28 I am a sucker for genuine sincerity and that combined with some of the earlier moments like the Parkland moment brought me close to tears
2:12:45 Look at this award shows actual diversity, and not just using one show for diversity and nominating a bunch of actors you have 3 out of 6 female leads be people of color and none of them are a âtokenâ and they all support each other. Hailey Kilgore is so young and such a good actress and I wanted her to win so much but she seemed so excited for the person who did win and they all seem happy at the result you donât have any of that polite loser face they are all genuinely supportive and this makes me happy. Iâm happy, look at those smiles Iâm smiling, I love it when they show women supporting each other.
12:14:06 âmy stupid little heart with so much joyâ is me watching these people tonight.
12:14:27 Still canât identify these people
12:15:00 Josh Grobanâs reaction to Bernadette Peterâs name is me. Honestly Josh Groban is killing the potential gif game tonight
Iâm sorry I just canât take this description of them as âempowering storiesâ seriously when half of your nominations are Spongebob and Mean Girls
2:16:10 Tonight the Bandâs Visit really swept. Honestly some seasons shows donât win any awards that deserved it and other seasons shows that (while still deserving) probably wouldnât have won win and itâs all kind of arbitrary, but Iâm glad out of this batch it won, it was really the only show out of the four that would have gotten the Tony Award ticket sales boost and it got it.
2:17:35 âMusic gives people hope and makes borders disappearâ
2:19:08 yes another Josh Groan duet!
2:19:25 I love Miss Peters too
2:20:44 This number made me smile, this whole night made me smile. I was worried I would get frustrated by the night with Spongebob and Frozen and Mean Girls and all the potential for it to be a cynical snark fest or a capitalist money grabber spectacular. There are about 10 billion ways I saw myself not liking this yearâs Tony Awards before it started and not only am I relieved that I was wrong about the mood of the night but I am elated. I love me some deadpan humor and some snark but you rarely see one of these nights just wholly be genuine and not tongue and cheek and it was such a breath of fresh air. Even the hokey bits like the stupid magic jokes and banter or weaker songs like that Mean Girls number, because everything was in such a kindhearted atmosphere, didnât feel as bad as they otherwise would have.

The White Garden, Sissinghurst Castle Gardens
At the start of a new year weâre probably supposed to be looking forward, which I am - an awful lot is going to happen in our family this year. And I love the springtime best of all, with all the signs of new growth and regeneration, but here we are with a series of now and then photos, looking backwards and forwards.
last week in the White Garden
Weâve visited Sissinghurst twice this year already and the last time gardeners were doing a lot of clearing, digging and pruning. Just look what a wonderful job theyâve made of the rose covered gazebo.
Rosa mulliganii â a very tall rambling rose. Link is to David Austin Roses
Iâve got to say, this garden feature is one of my favourite spots of everywhere we visit, the framework of the gazebo, the brick floor beneath, the fabulous giant urn and the ever changing pots that surround it. Iâve tracked down a similar structure (outside link) but I think itâll take a lottery win! Iâll bear it in mind for when I get my walled garden with rolling views over the haha beyond. Haa Haa.
Contrast and Compare, below is my photo from the end of February last year
my favourite spot of all
Above is the urn in February and below in March last year
Every time we visit I say that we really should go once a month, but of course, so much to do and so little time. Every time we go I also feel torn between the will to go home and get stuck in to creating something special, or getting a digger and starting all over. Now Iâm laughing because as I write a Buzzard is calling overhead and it feels for all the world like itâs mocking me. Knows me all too well I reckon. No one can pretend that gardening isnât hard work, especially on a plot like ours which is 100% determined to return to the wild. We should do more, but then would we get all the birds and animals that we enjoy so much?
I had a go last year with bulbs and some new plants, only to be thwarted by a combination of destructive squirrels and Inspector Pritchard the Peacock.
One thing I excel at is procrastination, so here are some lovely summer photos from The White Garden, see we have to look forward to...
Itâs all absolute bliss and, conveniently whenever I see pics of this garden, it reminds me of one of our funniest EVER overheard conversations. An overseas lady to her friend, stood somewhere here
âIs this The White Garden?â...true story! You couldnât make it up.
The other garden related funny story that really tickled us was listening to the radio commentary from the Womenâs Ashes down in Australia. Male commentator starts talking about their visit to the local botanical gardens - it mustâve been a bit of a lull in play - and young female co host shares that for a very long time she thought they were called balsamic gardens...a sign of the times...cue much hilarity (including here) as he teased her about vinegrette gardens maybe? or possibly even the caesar gardens too. It was definitely funnier at the time than it looks written down here.
My other note this week fits with the white theme. Iâve been watching Winter Watch from BBCâs Springwatch team and some film of white tailed sea eagles with the reminder their wing span is somewhere between 5â˛10âł and 8ⲠHow ginormous is that? Theyâve mocked up a nest on the ground where theyâre broadcasting from and itâs like a dry jacuzzi tub! The nests can last decades with the adults adding to them year on year. This BBC link tells more about the birds on the Scottish island of Mull CLICK I remember watching the chicks Itchy and Scratchy and canât believe that was 2005, I wonder whatâs happened to them since?
My own special sighting this week was in our own garden, I saw a tiny Goldcrest in the Christmas tree again. Talk about stark contrasts.
With the firecrest, the goldcrest is the UK's smallest bird. They're dull greyish-green with a pale belly and a black and yellow stripe on their heads, which has an orange centre in males. Their thin beak is ideally suited for picking insects out from between pine needles.
What they eat:Goldcrests eat tiny morsels like spiders, moth eggs and other small insect food.
Measurements: Length:9cm Wingspan:14cm Weight:6g
info from the RSPB
Hereâs my own pic through the bedroom window as reference.
That brings my running total of birds seen by us in our garden to 23 so far this year. I bet we donât see a fraction of them next week when itâs the UK Big Garden Birdwatch. If you want more info about that, take a look at this PDF in readiness. Weâre stocked up with plenty of food and some extra water bowls in readiness. Letâs keep our fingers crossed.

Mute Court: Trumpâs Precedential Twits
As far as I know, Iâm not blocked by @RealDonaldTrump on twitter. But then, I donât follow him because his twits arenât of any real interest to me, and I find his communications painful to read. If thereâs anything I should know about, it will be strewn across the media, and I will regret reading them.
Others, apparently, desperately want to see Trumpâs twits but they canât because theyâve been blocked. They could always see them in incognito mode, but thatâs not good enough and they donât believe they should have to right click to see what the president twits. I suspect they always demand the right to âseek redressâ by responding with their own special expression of vitriol.
Can a president block people on the twitters? When Jameel Jafferâs first suit from the newly instituted Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, it was disappointing. With so many First Amendment problems swirling around, being blocked from the presidentâs twits was unserious. It was a novel issue, and sexy at the time suit was filed, but trivial. And complicated. I suspect Trump might have muted these offending twitterers rather than blocked them had he better understood the mechanics of twitter, but block he did, and sue Jaffer did.
Argument was had on the issue before SDNY Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald, where questions were posed as to the proper analogy of twitter to something less unserious.
She asked whether Twitter was different from a public town hall, where government officials would be unable to pull the plug from a microphone to mute speakers with unwelcome views.
âOnce it is a public forum, you canât shut somebody up because you donât like what theyâre saying,â Buchwald said.
Baer said the appropriate analogy was not a town hall, but rather Trump choosing to walk away from someone at a public event.
Assuming twitter to be a public forum is itself problematic. Twitter can suspend or terminate a user at will, as itâs a private enterprise and subject to no public carrier limitations. But then, if youâre not tossed off arbitrarily by twitter, then it has many of the indicia of the public square, where a few million random people can read and respond to each others cat pics and expressions of idiocy at will.
At the outset, there was a question of whether Trumpâs use of twitter was as a private individual or as president. He solved that problem by using twitter to make official announcements of public policy and âspeakâ in his official capacity as president. Presidents canât block Americans from learning what theyâre saying and doing. But does that mean they canât be blocked on twitter? New technology raises new questions.
Whether the act of blocking rises to a constitutional violation is the novelty of the case â in the law, itâs whatâs known as a question of first impression, an issue no other court has decided before. That means thereâs real pressure on the judge to get it right the first time. And with a tweeting president who is known for berating magistrates and getting his ardent supporters to dox them if they donât rule in his favor, even more so.
Judge Buchwald gave it her best effort to get the parties to settle the suit rather than put her in the position of ruling.
The pressure was evident when Buchwald seemed to nudge the parties, in open court, to consider reaching a settlement behind the scenes. âYou donât necessarily want to risk law being made,â she said.
But, of course, both parties want exactly that, to make new law. For the Knight Institute, it would put them on the map to win against Trump. And for Trump, it would prove heâs not the blithering dolt everyone knows him to be.
There remains a genuine question of law â in the travel-ban controversy in particular, which the Supreme Court will settle soon â about whether his campaign promises and anti-Muslim tweets as a candidate can be imputed to later, official government acts. But as a public servant, no one really doubts that Trumpâs tweets are a public concern, in more ways than one: They establish government policy, inform the citizenry about administration priorities, announce personnel changes, are a means of diplomacy, move financial markets, and, if Trump happens to be in a foul mood, could spark some global catastrophe.
While all of this is accurate, the implications of ruling that a president cannot block people on the twitters carries further implications as well. Can people be turned away from an event in a public forum because there is no room? What if theyâre uninvited, or dressed âinappropriately,â according to whoever decides such things? Can they be removed for screaming obscenities at the president during a speech?
They may be entitled to know of the presidentâs public pronouncements, but are they entitled to any particular forum to learn of them? Is it their burden to wait until they appear in the funny pages or go incognito, or Trumpâs burden to mute them instead of block them? Must Trump suffer his mentions replete with twits saying words that would hurt his delicate feelings?
Trumpâs Twitter use draws intense interest for his unvarnished commentary, including attacks on critics. His tweets often shape news.
Katherine Fallow, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, told Buchwald the record âshows unambiguously that the president operates his account in an official capacity.â
Baer acknowledged that Trump sometimes uses his Twitter account to announce policy, but said that blocking users was not an official action.
Obviously, muting instead of blocking would resolve the problem for all. But the Baer raised one additional argument, that separation of powers precludes the court from ordering the president to do so.
Baer also argued that the court cannot order the president to unblock users, because of his position as head of another branch of government.
Marbury v. Madison may cover that question. As Cristian Farias noted at the top of his New York Magazine post, taxpayer money is funding Trumpâs defense of his right to block.
For nearly two hours on Thursday, we the taxpayers funded the governmentâs defense, in a federal courtroom in Manhattan, of Donald Trumpâs unbridled use of his Twitter account. On our dime, the Department of Justice dispatched three lawyers to tell a judge, more or less, that courts have no power to tell the president what to do with @realDonaldTrump â let alone to declare that the First Amendment imposes an obligation on him to unblock users who have been critical of him or his administration.
As trivial an issue as this may have been for the Knight Institute to take on, itâs far worse that government lawyers are dispatched to fight something so inane. Then again, petty minds create petty problems, and even petty people are entitled to have their petty rights protected.
Judge Buchwald will eventually hold that Trumpâs use of twitter is an official presidential act, not because of twitter but because of the manner in which he uses it. And as such, he canât block Americans from viewing his official public pronouncements in whatever medium theyâre made provided itâs an open medium. So if he doesnât want to see their mean twits, he can mute them, but he canât block them from seeing his.
And if Trump doesnât like it, he can just stop twitting, for which we would all be thankful.

New Zealand - ANZ Truckometer for March: +1.7% m/m (prior +2.3% m/m)
Truckometer ⌠itâs a funny name for an economic indicator, my favourite by far
But, useful too â it uses traffic flows as a proxy for NZ economic growth
+1.7% m/m for March
prior revised to +1.7%
The Truckometer is two indicators, for âHeavyâ traffic and âLightâ
The headline is the Heavy (up 1.7% this month, in the ⌠well, headline)
Light is up 1% (was +0.9% last month)
ANZ commentary (in brief, bolding mine):
The Heavy Traffic Index continues to trend strongly upwards after a lull in mid-2016. The upward trend in the Light Traffic Index has shown a few wobbles of late, suggesting we may see economic growth moderate later in the year.
There are a few reasons we expect to see modest growth in the second half of 2017. The economy is facing capacity constraints; getting skilled employees is difficult. Increasingly expensive and harder to-get credit across the economy will also dampen activity. Itâs not a bad thing. Easing off the accelerator will prevent overheating and allow the economy to go the distance.
more to come
Oh, and I been waiting ages to use this pic in the Truckometer post âŚ
The Prez having fun in a truck!
And âŚ
And why not? Beats flying United.
