Cafe Between Worlds

This was inspired by a prompt by writing-prompt-s on tumblr.

You run a café on the edge of life and death. Souls who have been departed from their bodies temporarily, such as in comas or near-death experiences, can relax in your quaint cafe for as long as they need before they can either return to their bodies or begin their journey to the afterlife.

Are mundane clexa fans of pumpkin spiced drinks?

Yes! Its not something they crave or that they go crazy for but they definitely like it. Clarke has it at least once a year, i mean its not fall if she doesn't! She's the one who introduces it to Lexa, who was skeptical about it. She isn't crazy about it but it does taste like fall for sure.

Its a little treat they enjoy together, a cute coffee date with some cinnamon rolls and a warm pumpkin spice drink in the little cafe by the river in their town, the ones surrounded by trees that are now all colors but green.

1. The last recipe I tried was pretty boring. Just a friend’s suggestion for a take on Alfredo sauce. I don’t tend to follow recipes very often, I just sort of ‘go with it’ and make adjustments until something sticks 😂

11. I very frequently dream that there are tornadoes around and I’m looking for shelter. I’ve had these dreams since I was a kid. There will be a tornado right in my front yard, but I’m not afraid of it, I just know I need to go downstairs? Or I’ll be in the house I grew up in, looking out the window to the back yard. I can see a really far distance, and there are dozens of tornadoes just scattered about heading towards me.

27. Oh shit lmao so my notes are always really boring. But lucky for you, I found one I forgot about. I was drunk one night pondering a silly AU for clexa week based on a gif that never fails to make me laugh. A friend of mine mentioned that the outfits are just so different. Soft Midwest Lexa and Clarke in a busted ass leather jacket. We went on a tangent about how Clarke looks straight outta Mad Max.

So I present to you, the very few HCs I have for the Mad Max AU that’s actually just Lexa having a fever dream and Clarke is dressed for a play or Halloween or something. Lexa thinks she’s being taken… it’s a whole ridiculous mess but could probably be pretty funny if I actually ever take it anywhere 😂

Lexa sees the same blonde every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the campus library cafe.

She doesn’t know her name, but she never fails to see her. Could be that the blonde is always wearing the strangest outfits. Lexa figures she must be a film student.

Something is going to happen, Lexa is going to get sick, or hit her head. And mad max Clarke dream ensues.

Lexa falls down the stairs while on the phone with Raven. Clarke comes to her rescue.

Mad max style Clarke picks Lexa up bridal style and runs off with her to a shaded rock face. The sun is starting to set behind it.

Where am I? Why are you wearing a dirty leather jacket? What’s all over your face? Is that my blood?

Clarke is talking on the phone (with Raven) “I’ve got her. I’ll bring her to you as soon as I can.” Is she being kidnapped? Is she being saved? What is going on?

“It’s okay, Lexa. I’ve got you.” How does she know my name? I must be a target.

Only to find out that you wrote one of my all time favorite clexa fics. Hear me out tho. Cafe AU in which Clarke is the increasingly exasperated new hire and Lexa is the manager who regularly sasses the shit out of any guest who dares treat Clarke like anything less than a princess despite the fact that Lexa has managed to so far avoid saying a single word to Clarke literally ever.

Until one day Clarke finds out that Lexa is famous for being the cafe’s “the guest always comes first” manager, and Clarke corners her in the back room to demand an explanation.

A quick little clexa moment of a longer story.

The problem with men in a predominantly masculine occupation isn’t the fact that there’s a lot of men, though that’s also in the mix, it’s that those men assume women or others can’t do the job. Just because a women like Clarke, curvy and blonde and big blue eyed, isn’t the main demographic force it doesn’t mean she isn’t just as good, if not better.

The question that opens in Clarkes mind as the doors of the elevator ding and slide is this: is the main demographic of the police force just that because they’re good at the job?

The answer is no. At least, from Clarke’s own experience it’s a strong no.

Clarke had dreams of saving people when she was young. Then she learned the truth of the world, that people you think are there to save you.. they aren’t. Like Finn.

So to the darkest pit of trashed dreams went being a police officer, and arisen on the pedestal of life purpose was private detective. The only person Clarke can trust is herself. Most of the time.

She announces her presence with a cough, not a polite one because these men are anything but polite. She sets her mouth and raises one eyebrow during the pause between acknowledgement and conversation.

“Miss Griffin, Captain Kane says you can be of help...” a slimey voice begins, “but I’m not so sure. Why don’t you take a seat and rest of your feet hm? Then leave so I can tell the captain you were here and of no help, help that we don’t need anyway hm?”

Clarke just about decks him right there. Cage Wallace, appointed lead to the most recent assassin kill case. Currently he has a series of photos which supposedly have the assassin in them. Currently and most likely forever, Cage Wallace is an arse.

“So even promoted you’re still blind then Cage?”

Clarke swiftly moves through the group of men in average suits and circles a person on the current photo projected on the screen.

Technically, Clarke had already seen these photos and could’ve emailed her findings to Captain Kane, her stepdad. But she wanted to have a little fun and deliver it in person.

The current photo shows a crowded street, a cafe and general store on one side and a gym on the other. The gym has windows lining the visible side of the building, a row of treadmills facing out. The person now circled Clarke is sure to be the assassin. One of the most lethal goddess looking women Clarke has ever seen, but only she would see the women that way. To these men the assassin is asking for help with a gym machine she doesn’t know how to use.

This is one of those times she knows she’s right while a bunch of men stare bewildered and somehow offended.

“You’re kidding. We don’t have time for your stupidity, Griffin. Some of us have REAL work to do.”

Clarke would normally smirk and make a sharp comment back, but today she was feeling tired and in need of second breakfast.

“If there were any women on this team, Cage, particularly maybe a woman ‘batting for the other team’ as you’d say, you would see that the women circled definitely knows her way around a treadmill and is definitely looking right at a window reflection of the victim. She’s smart, Cage. As hard as that may be for you to understand.”

Rolling her eyes at the arrogance permeating the room, Clarke leaves. She has an assassin to meet for second breakfast. A hot one with kind eyes and a plan.

As most of you could imagine, I started this side-blog to dive deep into the Clexa fandom and community (one of the most awesome group of folks I’ve ever had the pleasure of e-meeting). All the content you’ve seen from me has primarily been focused on Clexa or ADC, with little bouts of Kelley O’Hara and the USWNT here and there. I don’t often share much about my personal views or much about my personal life, but in recent days, I’m sure you’ve noticed some of the content I’ve been reposting relating to Black Lives Matter and the murder of George Floyd.

Let’s be clear on one thing: we need to work together to do our part and fight for our black brothers and sisters.

As a non-black person of color, like many of my white friends and likely some of you, I have never taken the time to truly educate myself on the racial issues of this country and the system it was built off of. For that, I am telling myself that I need to do better. I will continue to learn and educate myself and those in my circle—whether through literature, film, music, reputable news sources, and through relationships with my own black friends.

I’m not here to preach, I’m here to remind everyone that follows this blog that we can ALL. DO. BETTER. I’m sure you’ve seen the resources below on various other social media channels, but I wanted to share them here as well.
