I ugly cried in my car this morning. It’s the only place I’m ever alone these days. It’s true the saying “the straw that broke the camels back” because it wasn’t just one thing that happened; it was lots of little things over the past 4 months, building up, stacking higher, weighing on my heart, and the dam just broke.⁣ ⁣ It’s not “just” a mask. It’s not “just” a 2 week shut down. It’s not “just” for the rest of the school year...⁣ ⁣ I’ve been through hard things in my life. Overall I’d say I’ve been very blessed/lucky/fortunate; and I know it could always be worse. But I always felt even at my darkest that there was an end in sight... and then I pictured sending my Kindergartener to school during my a pandemic with a mask on and just couldn’t hold it in anymore. This is all so not right, but I have no answers to give.⁣ ⁣ As parents, our kids are always watching. And I’m super aware of my anxiety and don’t want to displace it onto them. I want to be strong for them. I want them to see it and feel safe.⁣ ⁣ So I cried in my car.⁣ ⁣ I cried because life is beautiful and hard. I cried for everything we’ve lost. I cried for answers and understanding and an end to all this. I cried that we don’t have leaders who can guide us through this with transparency and grace.⁣ ⁣ Usually I’m the strong one. This rarely happens, I try so hard to be strong for everyone else. But I so needed it, it felt good to let it out. It’s hard to be positive all the time. So if you’ve been keeping a stiff upper lip through all of this, tell me your magic! Because I’m surrounding myself with all the light-bringers to help lift me out of this place. ⁣ ⁣ It’s ok and healthy to feel the feelings, but not to dwell it in. That’s not the person I want to be. I’m moving heart forward cuz there’s no turning back now.
