Secret Missions...

Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (25th-29th January 2021)

Jordan may be dead and Juliet may be behind bars, but Hollyoaks are far from done with the county lines story, as more drugs based drama hit the village this week. As the week began, Tom encouraged Ollie to speak to a counsellor in order to try and kick his habit, and even persuaded Brooke to attend in support. There was relief all round when Ollie attended the session and seemed much brighter, but things soon went wrong when he asked Brooke out to dinner, and realised that she was dating Imran.  In order to try and help his son, Luke suggested they go for a kick about but then failed to turn up. The double rejection sent Ollie right back to square one and he was later spotted stealing tips from The Dog and money from Mandy’s purse in order to fund his habit. With the money sorted out, all Ollie needed was a dealer, and he went to the Lomax’s to ask Sid, who had just attended Jordan’s funeral, if he had any contacts. Sid was horrified by Ollie’s cheek and refused to give any names, but when Sid’s back was turned, Ollie did a runner with Jordan’s phone...

Meanwhile, Yasmine was working on an article about the county lines gangs and was snooping for information regarding Jordan’s murder. Mandy’s insistence that she mind her own business clearly had no affect and Yasmine later ambushed Ella for information, causing Mandy to lose her temper with her new sister-in-law. With Ella clearly struggling with the weight of her secret, Luke encouraged Mandy to go the police, pointing out that it was probably the kindest thing to do for Ella in the longterm. Realising that she couldn’t allow her daughter to suffer, Mandy reluctantly agreed. However, Mandy later spotted Ollie thieving and, realising that she had the perfect blackmailing material, told Luke that she would report Ollie if he didn’t stop hassling her about Ella...

Things soon got a whole lot worse for Ella when Victor returned to the village, having been contacted by Ollie via Jordan’s phone. Victor approached a terrified Ella and asked her if she knew anything about the text and Ella, having misunderstood, ended up confessing that she had killed Jordan. Clearly impressed, Victor told Ella that she would have to do everything he asked of her from now on. The following day, Ella prepared to return to school, but suffered a panic attack before going in. Luckily, Ste, who had arrived on a cleaning job, was on hand to help, and he offered to take Ella home once she had calmed down. In the village, the pair bumped into Sid, who volunteered to take Ella home whilst Ste went back to work. Sid could see that something was bothering Ella and reminded her that she could always talk to him, prompting Ella to open her bag and reveal drugs that Victor had given her to sell...

Sickened by what Victor had done, Sid went to see him and offered to take Ella’s place. However, his intentions weren’t quite as they first appeared, as Sid decided that the aim of his new role would be to bring Victor down from the inside. After a quick test to check that Sid was serious and trustworthy, Victor agreed, and gave Sid until the end of the following day to shift the drugs. However, Sid's first day as a dealer didn’t go to plan when Ollie failed to pay him and Ste informed him that he would have to attend a hospital appointment the following day to get his permanent prosthetic fitted...

Elsewhere, Dr Ley arrived in the village on her mission to ‘fix’ Toby, and asked Celeste to find them somewhere to work where they wouldn’t be disturbed. With Grace having to close The Loft due to an electrical fault, Celeste seized the opportunity and handed the keys to Dr Ley, telling Grace that Felix would fix the electrics over the next few days. Toby was understandably furious when he came face-to-face with Dr Ley, but eventually agreed to speak with her when she advised that she only wanted to help. However, Dr Ley’s sinister intentions were soon revealed she was seen making a phone call regarding the sequel to ‘The Red Door’.  The following day, Dr Ley got to work and Toby became angry with her continual questioning, especially when she brought up his feelings for Cleo. By the end of the first session, Dr Ley concluded that Toby was incapable of felling or being loved and told him the sooner he accepted it, the sooner he would feel better. 

Also this week, Ste and James grew closer as they looked for ways to get Juliet off the drugs charges, whilst Verity felt bad about misleading Sami about ‘her pregnancy’ when he spoke about Ellie’s miscarriage and how much he’d enjoyed being a step-father to Hannah. It was a tough week for Summer when she was given bad news about Cormac’s condition, and Sienna took every opportunity to goad her about Brody. However, Summer soon got her own back when she posted photos of Sienna and Warren kissing through Brody’s letterbox. Finally, whilst Theresa was keen to make amends with her family, Seth tried to convince her to leave the village with him, telling her that her family would never forgive her for what she’d done.

5 Things We Learned This Week:

1. Hollyoaks High really will give a job to anyone. Of course, we already new this given that kiddie snatcher, Sienna, is now working as a teacher but this week saw Sally employ former racist, Ste, to clean the place. Yes, one man and his mop and bucket are going to clean a whole school! 

2. Being scammed is no big deal. Just weeks ago, Darren and Mandy were panicking about their financial situation after Kurt scammed them. So why was Darren talking about going to spoil Ella at the shops this week?

3. Being groomed by the far right has its advantages! You can use some of their techniques to hook in unsuspecting teenage drugs pushers who will hopefully get your latest conquest’s sister off a drugs charge!

4. Marnie reckons that the police will care about the McQueen’s setting up a stall outside the Patisserie. Marnie, they’re not even interested in genuine crime! 

5. Liberty’s thought of a fantastic engagement party game: wedding bingo: featuring photos and phrases of happy couple, Brody and Sienna. She might like to include pictures of the time Sienna faked a pregnancy. Or when she kidnapped Tom, Charlie and Oscar. Or when she tied her twin Brother to a radiator and demanded he marry her.

So, what do we have?" Lily: (Walking back towards Billy's truck:) "We got a call saying somebody left their car double-parked in front of the cannery." David: "That's Billy's truck. So who do we call to tow a tow truck?" Lily: "Well, not Billy, that's for sure. Take a look." (David follows her to the front of the truck to find Billy laying dead on the ground. She runs back into the bathroom, grabs her jacket and is about to leave, but sees Emma sitting in front of the computer.) Emma: (Turns to face her:) “Do you guys all get this special search thing? (At Cleo’s incredulous look:) Oh, I dated a guy once who's good at picking locks.” Cleo: “You could've left.” Emma: “The Hancock County Courthouse has a file on me. I didn't know that. They could know something. They could know the name of the boy who brought me in. There... there could've been a note with me that was dropped into the file, something, anything. You could take me there.” Cleo: “Why would I do that?” Emma: “Because I can get out of handcuffs, and you'll have to track me down in every city and every hotel all the way across the country. Look, if you help me with this, I'll go quietly all the way to Phoenix. I just want some answers.” Cleo: “You want to know where you come from. (Emma nods:) Courthouse opens at 9:00 tomorrow.”

I suppose you know she can turn into a dragon at will?" Lily: "Yes, I'm aware." Spencer: "Yeah, if were down to me I'd set fire to the damn place with her inside and be done with it." Lily: "Is that so? Well, it may interest you to know that Maleficent's ability to turn into a dragon... runs in the family." (Spencer's mouth drops in horror as Lily's eyes glow yellow with anger. Running from the room and the station, Spencer doesn't stop to notice that the cell once occupied by Ruby, is now empty.)

The sheriff's station isn't safe.” Granny: “Well, just let him try anything. (Holds up her crossbow:) I’ll be waiting.” David: “The only way we're going to get Spencer to stand down, is if we prove Ruby had nothing to do with Billy's death. (To Granny:) I'm going to need your help. (To Snow:) If Spencer comes this way, call us.” The Enchanted Forest. Past. (Belle and Mulan are walking through the woods.) Belle: “It's just ahead.” Mulan: “You found it. Your books serve you well.” (Looks down at her leg.) Belle: “Mulan, your leg's getting worse.” Mulan: “No. I have to protect my village.” (With her next step, Mulan comes close to collapsing.) Belle: “You can't even walk! How are you going to kill the Yaoguai?” Mulan: “I'm not. You are.” Belle: “Me? I-I'm not a soldier.” Mulan: “You have good instincts. You tracked down that beast faster than I ever could.” Belle: “Tracking it and killing it are not the same thing.” Mulan: “There was once a time when people thought I didn't have what it took either, but I proved them wrong.” Belle: “How?” Mulan: “I showed them I had the warrior spirit. Silas Showdown...

Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (4th-8th January 2021)

He may be one of Hollyoaks most fearsome villains, but this week saw Silas slope off with more of a whimper than the bang some of us may have been expecting. As the week began, Mercedes was eagerly anticipating Bobby’s return from Spain, but was worried that Silas was lurking outside ready to pounce. So, she decided to install CCTV cameras both inside and outside the flat, however, she was furious to realise later that the cameras has been hacked. Believing that a family member must have leaked the password, Mercedes set a trap in order to find out their identity. Calling each person one by one, Mercedes gave each one the name of a different villager that she’d supposedly cheated on Sylver with, ranging from Luke to Grace to Walter. Later, right on cue, the doll sprung to life, and demanded money from Mercedes in exchange for their silence. Doing what she should have done all those months ago, Mercedes demanded proof that the blackmailer knew her secret and when they gave Luke’s name, Mercedes knew she had her culprit...

Mercedes and Sylver went to confront Theresa and they were quickly interrupted by Seth. As Theresa tried to defend herself, she realised with horror that Seth had been working with Silas and found herself ostracised by the family. Attentions soon shifted to Bobby’s return, but Sylver returned from the airport and revealed that the youngster was nowhere to be found, with airline crew stating that he’d been collected by another family member. Over at the folly, it was revealed that Silas had miraculously been able to collect Bobby and he soon sent him off on a treasure hunt before summoning Mercedes to meet him...

Mercedes went to meet with Silas and pleaded for the safe return of Bobby. However, Silas offered Mercedes a deal; he would return Bobby to the family on the condition that she allowed him to kill her. Mercedes eventually agreed to Silas’ demands but before Silas could kill her, they were interrupted by Theresa, who whacked Silas over the head. Mercedes and Theresa left the scene and Silas was later found by Bobby, who performed CPR and managed to revive him. Mercedes was then reunited with her son, who informed her that Silas had gone. There was still the small matter of Theresa, though, and despite Seth urging her to leave the village with him, she decided to stay and face the music, hoping that she could be forgiven. However, Mercedes refused to have anything more to do with her and told her she never wanted to see her again. 

Meanwhile, Cleo was going on a date with Toby, which was causing Felix, who knows his son’s true colours, great concern and he warned Celeste to keep an eye on him. Unfortunately, Cleo and Toby’s date didn’t go very well, and Toby ended up storming off in a huff when Scott kept pestering them and Cleo became distracted by her phone. Elsewhere, there was also relationship dramas for Joel as he avoided meeting up with girlfriend Goldie. After a chat with Warren, Joel went to meet with Cleo, and told her it was her he wanted to be with before the pair shared a kiss. Well of course Joel and Cleo are going to get together! Real life couple = no pesky social distancing! Unfortunately, Celeste had spotted the pair kissing and was worried about how Toby would react. Toby did find out, but news soon filtered through that Bobby had gone missing and he offered to go with Cleo to search. Hunting for the missing child proved to be quite the bonding exercise and Cleo and Toby agreed to put the past behind them and start again. However, at The Dog, Joel was busy breaking up with Goldie... 

Finally, the village was reeling following Jordan’s murder, and things looked bleak for Juliet and Charlie, who were both facing prison sentences. As Darren and Nancy blamed each other, Mandy was blaming Charlie for getting Ella caught up in county lines. Mandy’s angry ranting eventually got too much for Ella and she told Mandy that she had killed Jordan. Mandy initially struggled to process what she was being told and ran off, but she later told Ella that they had to keep quiet about what had really happened.
