My take on Clementine

imagine with me clementine was just an androgenous, monochrome, eldritch being that feeds off negative emotions and that's why there so in love!

of course they'd be a classic warlock or maybe even a rouge

I am a horrible, self indulgent little mans and I made an ask blog for a completely made up character with full lore and backstory just for my boyfriend to hear me blabbering about her backstop and context and go "Oh you just wrote a self insert!"

I had to take some time to process, and he's. He's not wrong. Then he went to our girlfriend and bemoaned how I'm cheating on him with Torbek, and then HE had a moment bc he realized he's just. A slightly healthier Torbek in human form.

Anyway, I made a whole fuckin backstory, lore, personality and design for Clementine and now I'm simply frothing send help

The entry rhyme tasted like ash upon her lips.

The final dredges of the carnival's exuberant sounds echoed faintly down the corridors to her side and back, a false veneer of joy hiding its insidious underbelly. She knew well what she had to do, embarking upon such a fool's errand, and yet still her hand trembled with hesitance and horror.

To return home, she mused, or to return home.

Gritting her teeth, barely paying any mind to the sharpened points of her fangs, Clementine gave a soft snarl, knuckles colliding with the reflective panes once, twice, thrice, the accursed spell choking her throat with honeyed poison. The images contorted, colors swirling with fathomless hues which steadily brightened and waned until misty clouds formed the illuminated doorway she sought.

Angry, scared, but firm in her decisions, she stepped into the portal to her own personal hell, one thought and one thought alone in her mind:

She was going to find her boyfriend.

General headcanons for the OUAW crew

I just think they’re neat :) idk what else to call these but general relationship headcanons

Frost 🐅

- rubs his face against you affectionately (his whiskers tickle and he knows, he just likes to mess with you)

- when y’all stand next to each other, he’ll flick you with his tail while pretending he isn’t doing anything.

- when y’all sleep together, he traces shapes into your skin with his claws.

- tigers can’t purr but this is dnd and I can say what I want, so he does purr himself to sleep.

- Makes muffins with his paws in his sleep

- Makes you sit with him when he meditates because he thinks you need it more than he does (but knows you won’t do it if he doesn’t do it with you).

Gricko🦉

- pretends that his index fingers are drumsticks and plays a ‘sick’ drum solo on any table he’s sitting at

- Grickos the type of guy to learn how to braid his s/o’s hair if it was long enough so if you have long hair expect him to pout and complain until you let him braid it.

- pretends to be sick whenever y’all wake up and says that yours and Hootsies love will cure him.

- Secretly loves bumping his nose against yours when you lean in to kiss him.

- When you’re mad at him he’ll sit next to you with Hootsie in his lap and tell her how much he loves you so that you’ll overhear. “And they’re so nice, and they are so talented, and they love me very much even though they’re mad at me :)”

Kremy🐊

- makes you sit with him while he cooks. Even if neither of you are talking he just likes to share the space with you.

- Speaking of the kitchen, it’s his favorite place to dance with you. While he lets his dishes simmer over the stove, he’s laughing and dancing with you.

- You’re his go to taste tester. “Here Cher, is it too spicy?”. Your taste preferences always come first and everyone else knows it.

- Gator courting rituals ❤️❤️❤️ he’s rubbing up against you and bellowing at random.

- Likes to share a nice bath with you and flick you with water with his tail.

- Is cold blooded so as much as he hates to admit it, he loves cuddling with you.

Gideon🔥

- this man loves to puff his chest out and do ‘manly’ things for you. “You need help lifting that? Yeah you do give it here >:)”

- Let’s you help him shave, says he can never get a clean cut like you can.

- If you smoke, he gets cocky and shotguns smoke with you.

- When y’all sit next to each other his hand stays planted on your thigh, squeezing and groping at it whenever he catches your eye in conversation.

- Picks you up for no reason. If he’s tired and wants to go to bed he just slings you over his shoulder. If you’re talking to someone else for too long he just picks you up by the waist and give the other person the stink eye for taking your attention.

Torbek🪳🧸

- Needy needy bugbear man

- Yearns to be held at all times. He inches closer to you until you either wrap your arm around him or let him lay his head in your lap.

- Threw clementine away when he realized he loved you “Torbek is sorry about this…”

- He’s a bad kisser but it’s okay cause he’s cute and means well.

- Loves when you bathe with him. He’ll stay soggy forever if it means you’ll play with his fur.

- When you’re not looking Torbek sprays himself down with your perfume so he can smell and be close to you even when you’re not around (he wastes a lot of perfume doing this)

Small tidbit about system!torbek

(spoilers for Torbek’s backstory)

Torbek said that he has ‘always’ had voices in his head (episode 6 ouaw), voices that he has heard since he can remember.

At first it was just Torbek and one other voice, the voice of a proper gentleman. The voice was quiet and infrequently at first, he would tell Torbek how to handle himself. Maybe he was always there but Torbek didn’t hear him till he was in his early teens. Torbek named the voice Jerry, he said his name was Jeremiah but Jerry seemed more fitting. Jerry told Torbek that he would take care of the scary memories and he did, he always did. With Jerry around, he didn’t have to be scared all the time.

For a long time, it was just the two of them. Young Torbek couldn’t explain why he had a voice in his head or the blank spot in his memory, but he knew he wasn’t alone. One day, it wasn’t just the two of them anymore. There was another one, the other one. Torbek couldn’t hear him, but he knew he was there, lurking. He didn’t introduce himself, he didn’t even say much. Jerry couldn’t hear him either but the both of them had blank spot where he must have filled. Jerry deemed him the Duke whilst Torbek always just called him the other.

It was mostly smooth sailing for Torbek, minus the stench and the anxiety and the lost time and the lack of friends and the ache in his back. Smooth sailing, really. Sailing that brought his lumbering form into Carnivàle Lecroux, finding himself under the employment of one Mr Lecroux. Jerry had said it was about time they turned their life around, in the means of employment of course.

That’s when a new voice joined the crew, this one was particularly nice. She was always gentle with Torbek, she would sit in consciousness with him and help him. She introduced herself as Clementine or Clem. She was angry with everyone who wasn’t Torbek, jumping quickly to defend him (at any cost). She would always try to argue with Mr Kremy… much to Torbek’s horror. Despite her temper, she was the kindest voice he had ever heard.

There wasn’t another for a long time, a very long time. Though there certainly didn’t need to be, the four of them had a hard enough time working there own lives out. Torbek wished that he would go back to when it was just him, before he knew that any of them were even there.

The fifth voice was angry, angrier than anything Torbek had heard before. They were even angrier than the Duke and that was hard to come by. They had the voice of scientist, proper and precise. They would speak in cruel tones, reminding anyone who would listen that this form was a mistake. When Elm- as the voice introduced themselves as- was in charge, Torbek found his body injured and unkempt. Worse than his usual state, shockingly.

The sailing got a lot rougher as the years went on, especially after the witchlight carnival. That’s when Torbek’s memory went dark. Clem tells him that the Duke protected him when she couldn’t. When his mind became his own, his body had morphed horribly. He tried to dig the vile tubes from his skin but when he got close his vision would fade and when he came too, they were still there. He wandered amongst the fey in complete silence for the first time in many many years, the voice suddenly gone or… unreachable. Torbek hoped that the pink liquid in his veins had silenced them. Maybe he knew better though.

Years passed, years where it was just Jerry. Torbek had to take a backseat, he was a danger to the body. Jerry tended to the tubes in their body and made peace with the control he gained. That same control that he lost when he stumbled upon an inn at the end of a road. No one is to say what happened on that day, none other than the Duke himself.

Random OUAW Thought: Clementine Edition

I just had a sudden thought: What if Clementine actually -is- a real person, and she was cursed to become a cardboard cutout?

I made a design sheeeettttt!!!! EDIT: Altered Twig's design slightly so her hair and eyes are more accurate to her original description

Now excuse me while I go through each character and design process:

FROST

I was able to draw his face by looking at Kung Fu Panda's Tigress and Tai Lung

I gave him four fingers because it feels weird to give him five and glasses because Derek has glasses and I wanted to incorporate elements of him into Frost

I also simplified a few elements of his design so it would be easier for me to translate into future drawings consistently(this is the case with most people here)

GRICKO:

His body type was tricky because he's 3'5 but I ended up settling on giving him toned arms and a dad gut (dilf energy)

Gave him more of a shaggy-esque beard/stubble and a 5 o'clock shadow to go with it

Tooth earring because I can

KREMY:

It took ages to draw an alligator face but I think I nailed it

Gold tooth and yassified eyeshadow and lashes, he's a suave mofo

His cane handle has a moustache too. Please appreciate it

GIDEON:

Patches on his trousers and a scar on his nose to show him being roughed up a bit

The cuffs were surprisingly tricky, mainly because I didn't wanna draw all those chains so I just gave him a few(again, simplicity)

I had fun with his boots!!! (his boobs too)

TORBEK:

I felt a bit of pressure with his design because I love him so much and I wanted to accurately convey his wet cat energy

Gave him big sad dark eyes, and simplified the tubing and cannisters. I simplified a LOT of him actually, since he's so much more detailed than the others

Gave him a tail as well, he feels like he'd have a tail

CLEMENTINE

She was also kind of tricky, particularly in the face, but I ended up settling for goat pupils and a gap tooth

Since Clemmie is a satyr now(felt like it would fit her vibe better) I changed a couple of her design elements while keeping the original blueprint

Her hairstyle is two bubble braids, forget me nots in her hair rather than buttercups, wraps on her arms and a toothed belt! Im quite proud of this now :))

TWIG:

Regardless of how I thought her outfit would look, i KNEW she'd have pigtails and a frilly petticoat

The ladybug detail was a last-minute thing, mainly because she already has spots why not give her ladybug wings

In terms of face, I reference Willow from TOH for the eye shape and smile(also gave her heterochromia unintentionally, now Im sticking with it)

update on this situation: after i brought this coincidence up with them my partner has decided to go full send on making their clementine Torbek’s Very Real Girlfriend Clementine, but like actually real, bc “[he] can have an actual girlfriend as a treat”. her prized item should the thieves need to take one is a bugbear doll named bekky (to parallel torbek having a cardboard cutout of her)

ig this makes our campaign a parallel universe to ouaw? which im completely fine with

so im running wild beyond the witchlight with my irl friends and we had our session 0 on sunday and you will never guess what my partner (who also follows loa) named their character
