So the average Kickstarter watch will not only be competing against mid-tier brands like Raymond Weil, Tag Heuer, Bell & Ross and Breitling, but also high-end brands such as Cartier, Rolex, Patek Philippe and Blancpain. These selling points would not go over well, especially when you consider that there will be dozens of mid-market and luxury watch brands of a similar vintage (not to mention better quality) to choose from. The same thing applies to vintage watches, where a no-name chronograph wristwatch by Liban, Hilton or Clebar will sell for much less than a comparable Seiko or Omega chronograph.Ĭan you imagine trying to sell a Kickstarter wristwatch in 30 or 40 years? "I know it looks just like a 1970s Omega chronograph wristwatch, but this one was made in Todd's garage in 2017, so it must be better!" Rolex watches consistently sell for higher prices in the secondary market than Bulova watches because of the difference in the prestige of the two name brands (among other reasons). You see, when an individual or company goes to Kickstarter for funding, it is generally because they can't get the funding elsewhere.īecause in the world of collectible watches, name brands matter. There is also the issue of the name brand (or lack thereof) attached to the typical Kickstarter wristwatch. Want a Kickstarter wristwatch with a carbon-fiber/Damascus steel/titanium case? You can have it! Do you possess a burning desire for a wristwatch that was hand-assembled in Geneva, Switzerland by alpine gnomes? Kickstarter has it! Do you have an unquenchable thirst for a watch inspired by a vintage World War I trench/pro-diver automatic/luxury ultra-thin wristwatch? Step right up and choose from dozens of different (yet all vaguely similar) Kickstarter models! Nearly every single one of these watch projects got funded because of some over-hyped hook. The next thing to hate about the average Kickstarter wristwatch is the gimmicks. Now, how can a thousand different types of watches all be unique or highly desirable? The brutal answer is that they can't, although that reality might not become apparent for a number of years. When I did a search on the Kickstarter website, I came up with 1,062 - over a thousand - fully funded projects through February 2020. Let's go through the list.įirst, there have been hundreds of wristwatches funded via the Kickstarter platform over the years. Why? Well for a lot of different reasons, actually. And, unsurprisingly, luxury wristwatches happen to be one of the more popular projects on Kickstarter.īut I'm here to tell you that it's a very bad idea to buy a Kickstarter wristwatch. Kickstarter is an online crowdfunding platform where regular people can pledge their monetary support for almost any type of creative venture under the sun. Unfortunately, some of these young wristwatch aficionados are occasionally tempted to get their mechanical wristwatch fix on Kickstarter. Fine mechanical watches are one of the great luxury goods of the modern era. And I certainly can't blame them for this particular addiction. A lot of people - particularly younger, tech-savvy men - are watch lovers.

J'suis c'genre de meuf qui porte son chien sur les épaules quand il s'casse la patte, a rester à ses côtés dans un troue paumé sous la bastille, patte cassé mon cul ué deux jours plus tard ces deux cons-pagnons de clebars se sont cassés quand j'l'ai détaché à 8h du mat et qujme suis retourné dans mon duvet gratter une heure de someil en plus. Avant d'me réveiller en panique à courir dans toutes la ville à hurler Bubulle-Tarzan! Oi venez là! comme une conne sur leurs traces avec 10 mins de retards sur eux, et puis ils sont revenus tout seuls au final mdr

J'suis c'genre de meuf qui regarde le ciel un soir nuageux, et qui déçus de pas voir les étoiles monte sur un escabeau pour essayer de mieux les apercevoir, vain, con, et en plus qui s'pète la gueule du haut de l'escabeau pour un éclater de rire, parce qu'entre en pleurer ou en plaisanter j'ai choisis la deuxième option

OC Interview

I was tagged by @alittle-writer. Thank you!

This is going to be a group interview with John and Gray from Forgive Me,

1. What was your last birthday like?

John: As fun as solving a murder on your 39th birthday can be.

Gray: It was great! Once I turned 30, people in the field started to respect me more.

2. Who do you trust most in the world?

John: My best friend, Tommy. I trust him with my life.

Gray: Probably the sheriff. He’s a good man.

3. What’s your relationship with your parents like?

John: I never had a relationship with my mother, since she died in childbirth, but my father was my hero, despite all his vices. May God rest his soul.

Gray: It’s complicated. They have a hard time accepting me, but I love them even so.

4. Are you religious or spiritual?

John: I try to be religious. I’m certainly not as religious as Tommy, but I try.

Gray: I was raised Catholic, but, again, it’s complicated.

5. What’s your worst childhood memory?

John: It’s more of a series of memories. I’m an only child, and I didn’t have any friends before Dominic, so I spent most of my childhood alone.

Gray: When my cousin was murdered. That was one of the worst moments of my entire life.

6. How do you react to being sick or hurt?

John: I move on. The case doesn’t stop for me.

Gray: I try to rest up and get better as soon as possible. I want to make sure I get back to work, but I don’t want to make anything worse either.

7. How do you react to a loved one being sick or hurt?

John: If it’s really serious, I get angry at everything.

Gray: I become a care-giver. I can’t help it. It’s an instinct.

8. Picture the most comforting setting ever. What’s the environment like?

John: A quiet cabin out in the woods away from the rest of society. Maybe on a lake.

Gray: On a warm beach on an island somewhere. That would be lovely.

9. Do you have any nervous tics?

John: I don’t think so. Hutchins will probably say my pacing is a nervous habit, but it really just helps me think.

Gray: I bite my fingers a lot. I have no idea why.

10. Do you have any tells when you’re lying?

John: Again, I don’t think so, but Hutchins will probably tell you the opposite.

Gray: I’m a terrible liar. I either smile a lot or I refuse to make eye contact.

11. What’s the meaning of life?

John: To improve the world as best we can for everyone else.

Gray: To help others!

12. Describe a mentor figure in your life.

John: My father was a local legend. He was the best detective I’ve ever known. There’s no one on Earth who can live up to him.

Gray: That would have to be John. He might seem a little scary, but he really has a heart of gold, and he’s an amazing detective.

13. Have you ever been in love?

John: Of course. I was deeply in love with my ex-wife, but I guess I loved my job more.

Gray: Oh, I’m so young. I don’t think I even know what love is.

14. Have you had your heart broken?

John: Well, my wife divorcing me is certainly up there....

Gray: Crushes here and there in high school. Nothing too serious.

15. Are you brave or a coward?

John: You have to be brave as a detective. Not just for yourself, but for all the family and friends of the victims.

Gray: I try to be brave, but I still have a long way to go.

16. Is your life going according to plan? If not, how has it strayed?

John: God, where do I begin?

Gray: I’m doing much better than I expected! I’m the youngest detective ever in the Clebar County Sheriff’s Office.

17. Have you ever broken a law?

John: Not once in my life.

Gray: Don’t tell John, but I’ve pirated music a few times. Don’t tell him!

18. Describe a scary event you’ve been a part of.

John: Mary Jane’s case. I was the lead detective on the case when my best friend’s wife went missing. The case is cold now.

Gray: Just about every case I’ve ever shadowed has terrified me, but I have to move past it for the job.

19. What’s your greatest fear?

John: Dying with cold cases on my hands.

Gray: Heights, burning alive, drowning, doing interrogations on my own, calling people on the phone. Should I keep going?

20. (Getting meta here) If you could meet whoever created you, what would you ask them?

John: Why? Just why? Do I ever get a happy ending? Please?

Gray: Does everything turn out okay for John? He deserves better.

21. Have you ever been drunk?

John: Never. I don’t drink.

Gray: Only a few times. Don’t tell John!

22. Are you calm under pressure?

John: I’d like to think I am, but we all lose our temper at times.

Gray: Oh, God, no.

23. What would your happily ever after look like?

John: Me, my wife, and my son living in a quiet house where nothing can harm us.

Gray: A place without all the evil I see every day.

24. Do you often have nightmares?

John: No, not often. I can’t really remember the last time I had a nightmare.

Gray: All the time. This case is hitting me hard.

25. What’s your greatest talent?

John: I guess I’m a pretty decent artist, but my abilities as a detective are better than my artistic talents.

Gray: I think I’m a good detective. John might not think so, but there has to be a reason I was promoted at such a young age.

26. What do you need right now?

John: A cigarette wouldn’t hurt.

Gray: A nap, a beer, and a good meal.
